This is the last Friday where we end the week secure in the knowledge that Morning Sedition will be there for us come Monday morning. I find this more and more impossible to believe.
Me too. I purposely got up in time for the start of the show. Wish I could have been in the studio to side with Marc. No one should give up their dreams.
That’s a great reason for universal health care. If everyone were guaranteed health care, no one would have to stay at a job they hated, creative people could take risks, and everyone could follow their dreams.
Freezing in snowy Rochester, NY. Warm us up, Marc, with some good news and more of the funny.
Now that I think of it, universal health care would end up being good for the economy too.
I keep thinking about that Door’s song, the one that was used at the end of the movie Apocalypse Now:
Full lyrics are here. Dark, weird stuff – classic Doors, and aside from the “Oedipal section”, fitting.
I always thought that Jim Morrison was the first goth.
Ah, Bill Clinton still pissing off the Republicans. Gotta love it. Say what you want about Bill, he was the best Republican president since Eisenhower (at least).
OK, well, I did it. I added Showtime to my DirecTV package. I just couldn’t pass up watching “Homecoming” tonight (and wasn’t willing to wait a day for the torrent to become available). Besides, Showtime Unlimited includes the Sundance Channel, and the only thing more compelling than listening to Al Franken’s radio show is watching Al Franken do a radio show.
By the way, I highly recommend FreeDocumentaries.org. Get yourself a BitTorrent client (I prefer Azureus), and download the documentaries you haven’t seen. I own legit copies of most of them (Robert Greenwald’s films make a nice stocking stuffer), but some you just can’t get here in the US (the CBC stuff, including Dick Cheney’s Biography, are excellent; the kind of stuff that just isn’t done here in the US). You might also want to do a google for the BBC’s “The Power of Nightmares.” It’s a real eye opener, and it’s a great start at trying to understand where the neocons came from.
This is kinda fun for a few minutes:lol:

Best I did was 181 mph. If they added a Bill O’Reilly version, I bet I could get over 200 with no problem.
Cross post from the MS blog, but thought folks here would be interested in these:
I posted the linux version before, but for those of you who want to grab all of the archived shows on AAP, here are two scripts that do the job: csh script for Linux users. batch file for Windows users. Virtually all Linix distro’s already have wget and can just download and run. Windows users will need to download the wget utility first. It can be found here: http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/wget.htm.The archive is about 7GB, so make sure you’ve got the space before you start it. Instructions are at the beginning of each file. On my 5mbs line it took about 12 hours (started it about 5pm, was done the next morning). Unless you are on a slow line(say 768k or less), please don’t take out the delays between fetches – jamming/crashing the server just hurts the dedicated few who want the whole archives!
Thanks methaz. Maybe if we can get a few good seeds out there with whole archive, we can get a torrent going (and save AAP’s bandwidth a bit).
pjsauter – I’ve obviously got the archive now; would be willing to put it up as part of a torrent. Anybody interested in coordinating that drop me a line kac@methaz.com
I got 303mph with a touch pad!
The full version of MS is now available at airamericaplace.com
I got up to 346 mph and realized that I am a sheeple. Anything else you want me to do Kristapea?
Baah, Baah, Baah.
Ah, I guess neither my trackball, nor my digitizer pad cut it for whacking. And with all the practice I have, surfing the web, too. đ
Hey, PJ, what do you want in exchange for a video tape of “Homecoming?” I can’t add Showtime without losing some of my other channels because the package structure has changed since I signed up for cable. I’m in Oregon and I’m more than willing to pay the postage. And then I can send it on to the next person and so on and so on…
Hey Gypsy, I’ll get in touch with you via e-mail.
Fucking Bush weasels.
Dear Patrick:
Can we change the “Keep Marc Maron” petition to a “bring back Morning Sedition” petition?
Unfortunately, they don’t allow me to change the wording of the petition (the idea being, I guess, that if people sign one thing, then you ought not to change what it is they signed).
Then how about a new petition?
My brothers and sisters, is the Air America website down? Are they scrubbing it of all Seditious content, perhaps?
How about a Dump Danny petition? There’s lots of other stuff about AAR that bears his hillbilly imprimateur…the unbelievably inept public service spots by The Ad Council, for example. They’re so contemptably bad that Danny G. must be involved somehow: “Hey, let’s use Collin Powell to pitch for
America’s children. General Powell is admired and respected by most progressives.” Jesus!
ha!! i saw marc on comedy central tonight.
it was nice to see how he looks now. i didn’t have the pleasure of going to see one of MS live shows.
he made a joke that since he now has the beard and long hair, that on christmas eve, he should go dressed as Jesus and hit the mall and shake his head in disgust at all the shoppers. i would PAY to see that!!!
“hey, wanna masturbate and eat candies?”
I think Brian in Everett had it wrong. Al Franken isn’t King of the Jews, Marc Maron is!!
Long live the King!
If anybody wants a true conservative view on climate change, I wrote this column for the Savannah Morning News a few weeks ago. If you don’t want to register, a PDF is here from my site. (The picture on the SMN site is of me crawling out of the Soyuz docking simulator in Star City, Russia, not that you can tell. The PDF doesn’t have the picture, so it may be a better choice!) Climate change is a topic that we had better start doing something about and quite playing politics with. I can’t believe the administration was so petty as to threaten to walk out of the Montreal talks if Clinton spoke. Actually, I can believe it.
