Good morning all. Today, I’d just like to quote the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution. It’s surprisingly simple, and clear. Read it, and let me know if you think the parts of the USA Patriot act that provide for warrantless search and seizures are constitutional. Read it, and tell me if the President of the United States, who has taken the Oath of Office (twice), pledging to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States” has violated it. Then tell me how this doesn’t constitute “high crimes and misdemeanors.”
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Mornin….pj and everyone else. pj you’re right. I posted this same exact amedment from The Bill of Rights on my site The ERA. The bastard should be impeached.
Did I hear someone say that Malloy was being taken of AAR or was that just speculation?
Mornin’, all.
Glad to see I’m not the only one up!
I am scared to face the grim reality of life in these United States without my Morning Sedition! They were the only ones who could deliver the gruesome truth without making my head explode.:fustrate:
(Sorry, I’ve been up since about 2:30 and I’m kinda cranky.)
Hi guys .. Nothing to listen to in the morning..for at least two weeks.. EEEEch.
FYI C-span 1 is rebroadcasting/webcasting the interview with Randi ay 6:00 am today.
Just wanted to remind everyone that Travis is having his surgery today. Alaska is 4 hours behind NY, so if (according to a post on yesterday’s blog) it’s scheduled between noon and 2 o’clock, we’re looking at around 4 to 6 pm Eastern.
Good luck, Travis! (All of my surgeries have been successful, including the one I had this past September.)
I have to notice that CW’s poll numbers are going up.. His lies seem to be making people think the war and the economy are going well. Obviously AAR needs to reach more people.
Mornin’ Fred and Kahn! Yeah I know what you mean. I’m back listening to NPR and that stuff just ends up making me cry from their damn heart warming stories……I need the funny from Maron! :fustrate: :fire:
yeah I posted an article dedicated to travis over on my site. You can also give him a shout out over on his own site…Sedition Edition.
yeah I don’t get these poll #’s. How can anybody approve of this maniac!
If AAR takes Malloy off the people at Democratic Underground will burn Goldbergs house down or meet him an alley some night.
pjsauter: Is there any blog option that allows the poster to edit his comments??
hey tuesdasy morning time to take a seat in the morning confessional
forgive me brothers and sisters for i have sinned i went into a wal-mart the other day and i bought a pair of jeans a package of socks and a pack of white t-shirts i was in need of theese things but with a little more effort probably could of got them from a better more reliable source that treats their employees with dignity and respect while providing a decent wage i feel terrible for my sin and could feel the guilt washing over me the entire time i was in the store ok well i leave it up to you my fellow bloggers what shall my pennance be?
:40::fire::40:
I don’t see anywhere where you can do that Fred. I though I read a post that said Malloy was leaving. I don’t know…I may be just confused…:paranoid:
Sean your pennance shall be a complete Wal-Mart boycott until they change their policies. Also my brother, for your sins, you must stage a one day protest in front of your local wal mart. Now go forward and sin no more…
Sean: I don’t know that you can be forgiven for shopping at WalMart.. Shopping for underwear at Kmart or Sears is probably only a dollar or two more expensive.
hey pjsauter in honor of morning cofessional you should put up a smiley in a priests out-fit :rofl2:
Good morning, all. I was sick yesterday morning. Jeez…how many colds can one person have in a three month period???
Listening to Ramdi on C-span.. So far she hasn’t started yelling at the interviewer.. The Talkers Magazine ratings didn’t even place her in the top 15 but she supposedly has largest number of listeners on AAR.???
Mornin’ Becky! How’s the weather there? Did the ice clear up? Is Randi on Cspan right now Fred?
Jason: Yeah Randi is on C-span 1.. They had the democrats on earlier defending the filibuster on the defense bill because ANWAR was attached to it. Put all the liberal things on in the middle of the night… but hey .. it was on.
I’m watching it now Fred…thanks..
Hey, Fred. Ice is long gone. How is it where you are?
Good morning, geniuses! Does anyone actually give a rat’s butt about what the MSNBC gadget buy has to say about the iPOD?
Best wishes to Travis today.
Sean, your penance is to go into the nearest Mom & Pop downtown men’s store — you know, the one that’s been there for 50+ years and is still owned by the little old Jewish guy with the tape measure around his neck, and buy a very expensive shirt from him.
No go forth and sin no more.
If we can’t get back the Congress in 2006 and impeach the dictator, what can we do instead?
Mornin’ brilliantatbreakfast!
Becky: We had about 8 inches of snow over the week end( in the area south of Denver). The temperature has only been in the upper teens for five days now. Yesterday it got up to 26 so some of the ice on the streets melted.
I just can’t agree with Randi’s comment that she’ll support any democrat that the party puts up there……because it’ll probably be Hillary and her stance on the war has been so wishy washy.
Now Washington Journal is on. The WSJ needs to experience a wire tap that reveals what they do in the area of insider trading.
Evening, all about. I walked around for an hour, came home, and put on an old MS show. I gotta get off the juice.
Evening King Kong! What juice are you on? Fred: I’m watching too buddy….I just hate to hear the Bush supporters call in “the sheople!”
Here’s some irony for ya’. My brother bought me an ipod shuffle so I could podcast my favorite shows for my jogging. They took away my favorite show! Damn it! :fustrate:
On Washington Journal .. I find it amazing how all the rethugs know that all the wire taps were on international calls. Where did they get that info. ?? Oh.. from the lier and chief..
Fred, the restugs that call in just sound nuts. To them Bush is allowed to do anything. They are the ones that put up a billboard that show a pic of Bush with the words “Our Leader”. It sounds like North Korea to me…
MS juice.
Hear anything from Travis?
I wonder if most people realize they are in more danger from your typical general merchandise freight train than they are from terrorists.??
The MS juice is strong….I just can’t believe this has happened. I’m sitting here listening to Washington Journal. It’s okay…….
I need the best voice on AAR back! Now!
No, haven’t heard from Travis. He did make a new post at my request on his site…it’s a disgusting ear operation video….I don’t recommend it. But, drop by his site and leave a good word…
I have noticed from my weekend viewing/listening to Washington Journal that a lot of Rethugs sound white and southern. I keep thinking something is in the water that causes brain wasting disease in the south.
Fred I agree completely! I went through a time here in Japan listening to Washington Journal alot. I couldn’t stand listening to the republican supporters. And, I noticed that same exact thing. I’m from Iowa but spent the last years in the U.S. in Tennessee. But, now when I hear callers from even the midwest, they sound southern. What’s up with that? We always were known to have the flat accent. I think the reading drop off by alot of the U.S. is a huge problem. Too much TV and no reading!
Ohhh, That last Op-Ed about cyber space was close to home.. The Bushes are really worried that there own people will overthrow their cabal and they will all end up hanging from the cherry trees
Changing the subject all the cyber space vendors seem to be in a world of hurt this Christmas.. err holiday. My email is full of adds from Dell and HP and Harry and David.
The wider technical authority of the president. The law is antiquated.. typical rethug talking points.. Some needs to explain to them about the concept of laws. I get the impression a lot of Rethugs like land developers and the CEO’s of the fortune 500 are doing things that would make them criminals if it wasn’t for their position.
C-span will need to check the liberal guests for baseball bat possession if they keep having these Rethugs dips on opposite them.
You know this is why I don’t like Washington Journal so much. There is no check on these rethugs that call in. They say some of the most outlandish things with hardly any counter. They just sound like idiots…
It makes me pissed! :fustrate:
a tympanoplasty. we wish you well, travis. your blog shows what the operation looks like. whew. my sister had an ear operation a few years ago and did fine, but it was more like brain surgery than say a tonsillectomy because the surgeons have to first of all have to get inside your skull to get at your ear. the video on your blog didn’t show exactly how the surgeon gets at your ear. you haven’t told us if this will be a long recovery (a week in the hospital?) or when you’ll be able to get to a computer again to let us know how things are going.
our thoughts and best wishes are with you, travis.
Is this the new home for wayward Seditionists?
NCBlue!!!!! :fire: 😆
Hey buddy what’s up?
Yes, NC Blue. I believe someone coined the phrase “Wandering Seditionists” earlier this week.
Blue emoticon for ya! 😮
NCBlue:I’m listening to ignorant people call in to Washington Journal when I should be listening to “Good Morning Geniuses!”
What you up to?
I’m listening to MS from July 9, 2004. Riley sounds really engaged and happy. But I keep having to remind myself that the news is old. And Marc keeps asking Riley if he’s doing alright.
Mornin’, Jason.
Been interviewing. Looking back over the last 30 years I have started most of my good jobs in December. Looks like I remain a free agent into the new year. So, I signed up for some classes. Just knocked out an Intro to Dreamweaver class in 2 weeks with a 97 on the final. Got some ASP, SQL and VB.net in the pipe.
I’m listening to Mark Riley live on AAR. For the next two weeks it looks like Mark is a NYC talk news broadcaster. I can handle it while reading the headlines from around the world.
My turn in the liberal confessional.
Forgive me, geniuses, for I have sinned.
I actually feel excited about the NYC transit strike; I’ve been secretly wishing for it. I realize that this will totally inconvenience most of my peers; indeed, if I still had a full-time job it would necessarily eat up my personal/vacation days. Instead, I will lose money because I’m self-employed and can’t get in to my clients. BUT . . . I’m kind of jazzed about it. 😳 Not so much because I’m in step with the union (because I feel they haven’t articulated the issues that might win the hearts and minds of their fellow NYers); more because of my deep disdain for the MTA.
What be my penance, philosopher kings and queens, as untold millions of commuters suffer?
Way to go NC Blue! I hope you get bestest best job!! The Sedition blood is within you, nothing can bring you down man!
travisdem_04
“Hey buddy what’s up?”
(repeating) travisdem_04,
I wish for you Safety during your adventure. Be well on your travels. 😎
Hurry back ❗ 🙂
:fire:
kahn! I think I need to hear what your deep disdain for the mta is all about before I jason can give you a proper pennance….
Kristapea- those old shows have the ads, “Earth & Sky”, and all the other fluff. Thank goodness, not one mention of any chocolate drinks!
Kahn,
I think your repence should be forcing down that second cup of home-brewed coffee, gagging on a multi-grain muffin ruined with a strip of crisp, lean bacon and a leisurely morning of reading the paper. Then, I think you need to make some apologetic phone calls and promise someone you might make it to their office before the end of the week. Either that or head for Key West ’til spring.
Can you handle that? I know what pain it will cause, but that is your burden.
P.S I’m listening to Aug 11, 04.
sidhewolf666: you can go to http://theseditionedition.blogspot.com/
and leave Travis a comment. It’s his site. I think I got the address right. If I didn’t let me know…
Wow live AAR programming. This is alot better the bitch on C-span
Rawstory says the Rethugs are going to nuke the senate to get ANWR passed. I though the agreement on using the Nuke option only applied to Court appointees. To bad the senate office building mail room screens the packages sent to the senators.
66666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666666
Oh, where to start, Jason? They are an appointed agency, accountable to NO ONE. They act unilaterally, holding “public forums” but then voting the way they want to. Fare hikes. Shutting down token booths (a major safety issue) and turning the clerks into “customer service reps” who walk the platforms. A couple years ago the state comptroller discovered they were actually keeping two sets of books–you know, screaming poverty while enjoying a huge surplus–and to my recollection they have never really been taken to task in any lasting fashion.
This year, when they announced a BILLION-dollar surplus, they decided to “give back” to the riders, with bonus rides available to SOME commuters (depending on the type of fare card) and discounted rides between T’giving and New Year’s (kicking off with the four-day T’giving weekend, then every weekend through Xmas, and the week btw Xmas and New Year’s). Even the governor (who wants to be president and was in New Hampshire this weekend drumming up support instead of getting involved in the negotiations) thought the givebacks were a bad idea. Of course, the MTA had basically spent the whole surplus by the eve of the contract deadline. I’m sure I’m leaving something out here, but this should give you a general idea.
A quick search brought me here, if you want to read more.
On the other hand C-span doesn’t have commercials
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Fred, they are rethugs. Their word isn’t worth much. Remember, these are the same people who promised in 1980 to dismantle our entire government and society. So far they have been pretty successful. Have you forgotten the Reagan administration’s attempt to sell our national parks?
Thanks Jill, for linking to that Vin Scelsa interview with Randi Rhodes. No one likes Al F!
Good Morning working-class heros:
The sound of silence…sucks!
:neutral::yawn::cry:
NC Blue–
I can handle everything except the bacon!
Actually, some of my clients can’t even make it into their offices–I started the apologetic phone calls yesterday!
(I think I really want absolution, not penance. That’s another sin.)
Morning! I have been a wandering, that’s for sure.
My cat was prancing on the keyboard. Her constant 666 seemed appropriate. So I hit the submit button. The aaaaaaaa submission was from the same source. I am listening to Riley.
Morning Sedition is Dead! Long Live Morning Sedition!
I’m down with The Sedition Movement for Radical Change! :peace:
Mornin NickiRose!
Now, Kahn: I say your pennance should be that you have to somehow infiltrate the MTA. Get in there into one of their meetings and voive your concern on how they are handling things. Just once is enough so that “you” know you voiced your concern. Now go forth and sin no more…
Aaaaamennnnnnn!
mornin’ farmerkat! :fire:
NYC transit strike.. Riley just said that the only cars allowed in the CBD have to have at least four occupants up to 11:00 am.
If Boomturd imposes the draconian measures as described on the union the transit workers need to have a long conversation with him maybe that would change the minds of some of the other CEO’s about firing strikers.
Goddamn! This blog is axtive. Super!
Take it to the streets!:peace:
ACTIVATE!
sorry I mispelled voice, what a terrible english teacher I am….
yeah I’m done with American Journal now. I’ll listen to Riley but still miss Marc! :fustrate:
Hey! I suppoprt the transit strike, too. I do not feel at all guilty. No sin, therefore!
Workers organize! Out in the streets!
Through the greedy minds of our desperate leaders
Comes the end of all mankind.
When RTD in Denver went of strike several years a go they blocked all the intersections into the CBD with dead buses. The morning rush hour was a total disaster. As I remember the railroad workers joined the strike and parked some 110 car coal trains blocking all the east west grade crossing in Denver. Everyone had the day off they estimated it cost 200 million dollars.
I can’t log on to Travis’ blog… ugh
so here is my post:
That Fucking annoying Ovaltine Commercial is playing. AAAAAAaaaaaaaaa!!!
That Fucking annoying Ovaltine Commercial is playing. AAAAA doh:
Sorry for the repeat. Now, That is a sin.
Sedition Edition
Travis’s site…
click on Travis’s site…sorry everybody…screwed that up…
I remember when I got accosted by security cops. They seized some political stuff I possessed, and tried to frame me up on charges. The 4th amendment nipped their gestapo tactics in the bud.:peace::bow:
Brendan McDonald is talking. Now Riley is speaking about Pope Baruch. He is your Pope, too, Riley.
Howdy! I just posted on the old site and I was wondering if Marc could stream a show from home in the meantime. That’s what WBAI NY did while they were under seige from this administration. Just a thought. I’d listen and I’d use any sponsers too.
When is the Big Meetup for our new Revolutionary Seditionist Movement?:peace:
Mark Riley is boring. The only skit he did that I know of was dog of the week, which was a dog, sorry Mark, but I hate scabs
Did Riley come on at 6 am ?? Is Marvin in for Springer??..Who is in Frankens slot ??. Hartman is in for Sedar and Janeane. Sheez this is confusing
A meet up is a definite thing that should happen. And, I say that if Maron gets a new radio show anywhere even aside from AAR, I declare this the unofficial official blog!! Wow, to meet everybody in person. That would be wierd! Maron would have to be there too! 🙄
Rachel is doing Franken, I believe. At least that is what she says in her AAR blog area.
Gotta get. Homework and cookies to bake.
Vigilance!
Can we have any meet-up during warmer weather? Got any pot?
Later NC Blue…
Me too, I’m outta here
The Era
See you later. NCBlue, Jason. :fire:
Springer started as a rerun. Then Jay Marvin cut in.
Long Live Morning Sedition:peace:
You should now be able to edit your comments, provided you’re logged in, for up to 30 minutes after you post it.
That is, unless I screwed this up. 😕
(Note: it appears to work) 😀
More thoughts on the demise of Morning Sedition.
First, let me say I have no ill feelings toward Riley. Though I didn’t listen to WBLI before it was AAR, I knew Riley from his TV appearances on various “reporters’ roundtables” in the NYC area. It was great to hear his “lighter side” on MS–he was always articulate and knowledgable, but I loved hearing him laugh on MS. However, many of his solo shows (when MM was on vacation or whatever) were weak. The best one was last December, when he and Wayne and Al Sharpton were going at it in the spirit of the old WBLI. But Maron solo on MS was always stronger than Riley solo there.
But more to the point. A couple months ago, my husband said he’d noticed I’d become more partisan since I started listening to AAR. I took issue with that, because I think I’ve always been pretty “partisan”: I was 8 when Nixon was elected the first time, and let’s just say that in this Jew’s family I heard about Nixon being a bad man long before I’d ever heard of Adolph Hitler. I wrote a “wag the dog” scenario in eighth grade (1974), positing that the whole Patty Hearst kidnapping was a scam intended to distract the country from Watergate. I wore a black armband the day Bush I was inaugurated. The vein of partisanship runs deep, to say the least.
So I disagreed with my husband’s assessment, but on contemplation I realized that I’d certainly become more arrogant since listening to AAR. And that’s exactly what turned hubby off of every show BUT Morning Sedition: That “we’re smarter than they are” mentality that so permeates the other shows. The great thing about MS was how willing Marc & Mark were to laugh at themselves, to voice their outrage while not claiming to be smarter than everyone else. In fact, it was my realization of this newfound arrogance that led to my listening less to the other AAR shows. I realized I didn’t want to sound like Randi or Janeane; I didn’t want to be self-righteous and shrill. (With apologies to both women, who have their strong points.) The Funny made it as easy to laugh at ourselves as at “them.” Without that, AAR is like nails on a chalkboard.
You know, I hate to admit it, but this blog is much more pleasant to use than the old AAR one, which half the time took all damn day to load. That’s why I didn’t participate more. I just don’t have time in the morning to wait for web pages to load.
Hey, Marc! After you get unpacked, come on in and join us! The bacon’s fine.
A meet up in the summer would be good. Any reason to get the hell out of HELL is fine by me!
Way to go pj! That took forever! , let’s see if it ever works….
ps: PJ, having trouble with the editing thang. When I submit the reedited version, it goes to a blank page.
Thanks for bringing up the Fourth Amendment, pj. It’s a subject dear to my heart.
It also helps distract from the heartbreak of no Morning Sedition and worrying about Marc’s future in LA and sympathizing with Riley and Brendan and Little Goliath and all the others who are “soldiering on” (good description by someone in this blog yesterday) after being part of ms and are now having to come up with a conventional program that meets DG’s specs.
Rural Northern California where I live has for years been subjected to various Fourth Amendment infringements because of the insane war against marijuana. You can get stopped driving down Highway 101 because your license plate is muddy and they can’t read a number or they think you might not be wearing your seat belt or some other pretext. Then they surround your car and tell you that their police dog is “alerting” and could they please search your vehicle. If you do the right thing and say no, they’ll keep you on the side of the Highway for an hour or two with their bright colored lights flashing the whole time while they occasionally talk with you and check you out on their computers and eat their lunches and gossip among themselves. I’ve seen it. I have friends who have had this happen to them. Maximum harassment.
The alternative is for you to give in and say yes, go ahead with the search. They find nothing and you go on your way.
Then they stop the next guy.
They’re getting us used to being stopped and searched without any warrant and without any probable cause.
The prez is just making it clear how far things have deteriorated. The politicians who are speaking out against W’s illegal wiretaps should be speaking out and I commend them for doing so but I also wonder where they were all these past twenty-five years when the war on drugs was steadily paving the way for this final assault on the Fourth Amendment and they said nothing.
No it worked pj! My original said…..way to go pj! that was quick, let’s see if it works.
:barf:
EXCELLENT, PJ–thanks!
:blech:
Oops–didn’t see this one at first. Thanks again!
Let’s see, for the other requests:
:priest:
:yuck:
:barf:
Now, I really must get my “Holiday” cards out. My wife tells me that Chrismas is coming.
Kahn I agree with what you said…Did you happen to read my article about the shameful demise of Morning Sedition?
Test test test wow… that was fast pj thanks
NICE PJ!!!! Now go Forth and SIN No More!! :priest:
Oh man, that puking one is really gross.
Jason–
I think I read your piece–I have to go back and check. (I’ve read so many things about MS over the past few days, it’s a bit of a blur. In fact, I think I may be repeating myself in my own posts! In fact, I think I may be repeating myself in my own posts!)
😉
I agree Kristapea! I don’t think I’ll be posting that one…
it’s okay kahn..go to http://www.theeraopinions.blogspot.com/
No don’t go there…..sorry http://www.theeraopinion.blogspot.com/
that’s it I think…
PJ : One more can you do this request
Can you make the font size controlable by the drop down view menu in the IE tool bar ??
Great post, citizenkahn. Interesting that Danny Goldberg turned out to be the progressive utopian with no sense of humor that Marc was busting on all that time.
It’s easy to bash the right. What Marc did was make it fun to laugh at ourselves.
(Anyone see “It’s Jewtastic” on VH1 last night? Why wasn’t Marc Maron even MENTIONED?)
Thanks for the link, Jason.
I remember now that I’d gone to the post and then hubby needed the computer so I never read past the first paragraph. Nice piece.
I totally agree about MS becoming a good friend. (I liked Unfiltered but MS has always been my true love.)
Somewhere in the last week someone likened MS to friends you could look forward to seeing every day. I was reminded of my high school cafeteria, which also served as a kind of not-so-quiet study hall. You knew that any one of a number of friends could be found there at a particular time, day in and day out. You could hang with them the whole time, or just check in for a couple minutes. But the party was always there, just waiting for you to join in.
I’ve gotta run; strike or no, I have physical therapy today!
Excellent post Foggyblue!
jasonwkinney, thank you for telling me about that site of travisdem_04. I gave up trying to find it on last week MS blogs. I left a comment there too . so now I can go to sleep for a few hours in peace THX. :peace:
:fire:
Hey Fred, here’s what you need to do to be able to change the font size in IE:
Go to Tools>Internet Options. That should bring up the Internet Options dialog box. You should be on the General Tab by default (if not, click on it). Just above the OK/Cancel/Apply buttons there are four buttons, click the one over on the right that says “Accessibility.” There you’ll see check boxes for formatting. Check the one for “Ignore font sizes specified on Web Pages” (and the other ones, if you want), and then OK out of everything.
You should now be able to change the font sizes at will (possibly you’ll need to shut your browser down and restart it, but probably not).
BTW, if your mouse has a scroll wheel, an easier way than going to the view menu is to hold the control key down, and turning the wheel (forward – away from you – makes it get smaller, and other way makes it larger). Go a click at a time, because I’ve found that if you turn really fast it sometimes doesn’t work, or skips a bunch of sizes).
Anyone using FireFox can also use the control key and the “+” and “-” keys (and you shouldn’t need to go in and change any options).
Hope that helps.
Travisdem_04 Be Well, Happy Travels. You are in my thoughts and prayers. (Since I am a Reverend (ie minister), but not Christian)…do I dare to use :priest: I have never seen this 😎 emoticon of good wishes and blessings ever ❗ (I love, appreciate, and am addicted to emoticons :!:) (THX again also to this making of this site)
Again Travisdem_04, Be Well and HappY Travels and Happy Trails. This is your time. Cheers :alc:
:fire:
Good morning,
I know it may be getting old hat, but I love it, citizenkane, when I read messages that speak for me. That’s what I have always felt. Everybody on radio, left and right, sounds so damn know-it-all or self-righteous. No wonder folks only listen to the people with whom they agree. After awhile, the noise, becomes intrusive and serves to function as background company. I do admit, that having AAR on all day was a big comfort. Not anymore, though. Too many bad feelings that may pass with time.
Morning Sedition was something else. I listened with all ears and had to learn how to complete my morning routins during commercials. Thanks to MS, I felt at home — well before I ever ventured into blogland.
The last few years have, to say the least, challenged me. I had no idea that the pain showed on my face until friends noticed told me after noticing the difference. Suddenly I was smiling and laughing again. Discovering Morning Sedition was a major factor in that change.
How can we use the funny to protect the fourth amendment and ourselves:?:
:fire:
I think a big chunk of MS archives, including the ones that originated in early and mid-November 2004 (think Presidential (s)election, fellow Seditionisti) just dropped off the Air America Place website.
Waaaaaaah!!!! They are eating away at us ….
You see what happens? MM and Jim Earl leave town and the trains stop running.
Megan–
I have those shows downloaded: November 1-5, 8-12, 15-19, 22, 23, 29, and 30.
Not sure how to get them to you, but I’ll see if I can download them to my own blog and then post the link.
(Unless, PJ, you want to put them here?)
update: Apparently I can’t do that via blogger.com.:fustrate: Anyone have any ideas?
It’s unconstitutional, yah stupid ‘id’iots.
Check it out.
:priest::no:
Megan, Kahn, et al,
Don’t worry about the archives. Bob has something in store for us as per here.
Howard Dean has a letter at http://www.democrats.org/foia for which he is soliciting signatures. It is a freedom of information act request for the memos that the justice department wrote to the president justifying surveillance on american citizens with out the consent of the court.
thanks isi for the howard dean letter. i signed up. not sure if it’s gonna do any good. think things have gone too far to recoup. but oh well. i’ll go down fighting to the last.
Mike Malloy is subbing for Randi today and tomorrow. His opening remark was that he thinks President Bush is daring the American Public to hold him accountable for his felonious acts. He is now talking about religion but said he will get back to the surveillance issue.
If the AAP plans don’t pan out, we’ll work out something. I’m a little reluctant to put up and post public links to shows for a couple of reasons.
The big one is that, if a thousand people started downloading 20 or 30 19.3 meg files, we’d exceed our monthly transfer limits here (not a problem at the moment, but I’m really surprised – and elated – by the amount of people who have found this place, and who are active here). I’d rather look at setting up a “private” area, or maybe sending around a couple of DVD’s by snail mail, and everyody could copy them and then pass them along. I’d really like to get every show, from April 1, 2004 on, though.
Along those lines, one thing the Unfiltered fans over at AAP did was get an Unfiltered T-Shirt, and mail it around. As you got it, you’d sign it, post a picture, and pass it along to the next person on the list. They call it the “Unfiltered Virtual Tour.” Seemed like a cool idea. They even got Lizz Winstead in on it.
We could pass it around, and then raffle it off to one lucky winner at the meetup this summer.
I was in on the Unfiltered Shirt Tour. They gave away a t-shirt on the last Unfiltered show. One of the regular Unfiltered bloggers, Connorman, won it. Raine, a regular blogger over at Air America Place got a list of folks interested, and the shirt was sent on its way. Both Lizz and Rachel were in on it. I believe it’s still making the rounds.
Are they still selling Sedition shirts, or are they gone already?
PJ,
In case you need it down the road…..this is an option.

Over the weekend I purchased a t-shirt and a couple coffee mugs from the AAR web site. (definitely conficlted: should I support the network that committed a crime against humanity or should I get some momento of a show that improved my life exponentially? I chose the latter.):yawn::cry:
I thought that maybe, with all the talented folks we have here, we could have a design contest. Folks could submit designs, and then we’d all vote on them. We could do the cafe press thing, and just not mark them up above what they charge. Unless somebody out there has a connection for getting sweatshop-free shirts and stuff printed up (I reckon you’d have to have a minimum order and pay up front, though).
I just bought my second MS sweatshirt. Let’s see … if this is enough to put me in the liberal confessional …. I just hope my pennance is to NEVER listen to AAR again.
Shouldn’t be too hard.
I know what you mean. I’m conflicted too. I don’t want Goldberg to benefit in any way for signing Springer and canceling Sedition and Unfiltered, but I’d like a momento of the days of Marc and Marc too.
I never checked to see if there’s any Springer swag. I bet Jerry Springer air sick bags would go over. There’s also the Jerry Springer Action figure. Bitten by a radioactive tsetse fly, this roc’em-soc’em superhero is capable of vanquishing aliens and monsters with its superpowers of boredom and pointless disseration.
…meant to say pointless dissertation
Rachel is doing Franken, I believe. At least that is what she says in her AAR blog area.

Wow! Quite a major lifestyle change for Rachel. And not all that pleasant, one might guess. Did anyone tell Franni yet? :rofl2:
So does this wiretapping business sound familiar to anyone else? IMPEACHMENT, SHEEPLE. Russ Feingold can milk his way into the White House with this if he plays his cards right.
I had today off to presumably finish my holiday shopping. Ended up buying NOTHING due to almost every bus either running late or not showing up at all. Apparently the fever is spreading south from NYC. :fustrate:

… or Mr. Ed?
Good evening, Seditionists.
Get well soon, Becky & Travis.
The 4th Amendment–just a “piece of paper”, right? I wrote a letter to the editor about this on Sunday, but I don’t think they will print it.
jimearl.com is making progress. No Morning Remembrance and Vincent “the Chin” Gigante and the inventor of Lite Beer both died! Creationism barred in Pa. and no War on Brains!
Out here in Portland we’re getting the “Best of Al” re-runs.
so glad for this sight. i haven’t had the courage to even turn the radio on in the mornings, spend the weekend downloading MS shows, as i always missed the last hour and a half, i have enough new material to listen to for a while. good to hear the reactions to riley, yeah i too found him pretty boring on his own. sent a letter to the board of directors telling them they have taken all their listeners loyalty and devotion and flushed it down the toilet, and for the life of me i can’t see where that is good for them. also last friday, because there was no strike, because the sun was out, and because my appointment was cancelled, i went over to AAR on 6th ave with my sign that said marc maron rocks, danny is a dickhead. i got there around 1130a, and after about ten minutes a big stretch limo pulled up and two executive looking types got out. i sure hope one of them was goldberg. ten minutes later randi arrived. i think she got the point, and my husband who listened to vince selsa on saturday said that randi said that everywhere you go, you see someone protesting. we here in brooklyn are pissed, and i am ready to picket them some more when the strike ends…boy what a big loss, the mornings seem dead without the boys….
MS gear is still available at http://www.cafepress.com/airamericaradio/380657.
I’m still pissed that they never sold t-shirts and sweatshirts in my size.
No recipe today. I’m just over the flu and running a little slow.

I hope the poor bastard that has to wade through that audio compost heap looking for a “best of” gets some sort of hazard pay!:barf:
PJ–
I do remember that Bob of AAP said he’d have a special treat for us, but you’ll have to forgive me if I believe it when I see it. I’m fresh out of goodwill right now when it comes to AAR!:rant1:
Thanks trickster13 for carrying your sign at AAR in support of marc and morning sedition. There is a picture of Danny Goldberg at http://www.laweekly.com/ink/05/19/deadline-finke.php. Does he look like one of the business men in the limo that day?
It seems that the link to the laweekly article and picture of DG doesn’t work from this blog. However, it does work otherwise.
There’s a picture of everyone’s favorite sack of shit here:

“F.B.I. officials said Monday that their investigators had no interest in monitoring political or social activities and that any investigations that touched on advocacy groups were driven by evidence of criminal or violent activity at public protests and in other settings.”
Criminal activity like, uh, smoking a joint, trespassing during a tree-sit 200 feet up in a redwood tree on timber company property, and not wearing your seatbelt. What’s next: espousing the theory of evolution, celebrating solstice instead of Christmas, and using cash instead of a credit card with a 20% rate.
yaktreats, thanks for that.
I guess it’s right to Gitmo with you if you ever ripped the tag off a mattress.
Help! I need advice. My husband and I are driving to NYC on Friday to care for my 96 year old mother while her caregiver takes a holiday break. With only two of us in the car, I’m told they won’t let us cross the George Washington Bridge.
Is there anyone in NY or Pennsylvania who needs a ride to NYC and wants to join us. Our plan is to leave Rochester on Friday and to return sometime on Monday.
If you have any other suggestions, please let me know.
Now off to our Town Hall to discuss the problems people on my and neighboring blocks have been having because of September 16th’s “100 year event” – 2.93 inches of rain in less than an hour. Sewers were overwhelmed and the pressure so strong that it tore a hole in our foundation and flooded our finished basement, and forced us to rip it all up.
Having kayaks to travel in would have been far more useful than the many cars that “drowned.” Despite it all we realized we were not NO. Now, however, we want the tow to take at leasat some responsibility for not having attended to the sewer system’s infrastructure.
We’ll see what happens?
If you know of anyone in NY, NJ or PA that needs a ride to NYC, please tell them to contact me.
thanks
MS Archive
It’s not indexed, but I put as many MS shows as I have online at http://www.seditionparty.org. 383 episodes, missing April, all of May but 1, and some early June, but the rest are there. Anyone who has a missing episode send it to me and I’ll put in in the archive.
Wonder if the used cat litter made it to DG in time for Christmas? 😈
What’s the word on Travis?
:peace:
Here’s my most recent email to Jon Sinton and his reply. What should we make of it? :fire:
————-
Mr. Sinton:
Any news about Marc Maron and a new show? Waking up this morning without the Maron/Riley was NOT FUN. We all need to know what is up next for Maron and AAR, if anything. Thanks!
——–
Steve,
Marc is hiking in the San Gabriels on a much deserved rest. We hope to make an announcement after the holidays, but expect to hear him everyday!

Of course. Ripping a tag off a mattress. I’d forgotten about that kind of criminal activity. No wonder the FBI is so keen on uber surveillance on us all.
Lawton Smalls says God loves us deal with it, but the FBI and the current administration know that we’re all guilty of something or other and they’d better keep track.
The FBI probably has a really nice set of photos of trickster13 with the protest sign in front of AAR saying marc maron rocks, danny is a dickhead.
sgarcia70, we should “expect to hear him (Marc) every day?”
be still my beating heart.
can this be true?
You know, they could have finalized all this shit before Marc got the axe. I mean, had they announced on Friday – the day they had to have known there’d be a peak audience – that Marc would be getting a daily show, starting such and such a date, they’d have gotten major exposure for the new show, and would not only have ameliorated things to some extent, but would have turned a lot of pissed-off listeners into happy campers.
Instead, they pull this stealth – yeah, honest, he’ll be on – shit.
I hope it’s true, but I really don’t trust Goldweenie.
Agree, this should have been resolved long ago. Sinton is the only one at AAR that has responded to my emails (third one), but this covert “the ball is in Maron’s court” bull is :crap:
Also, I like Riley, but it’s painful to listen to him solo after we know how good it was before.
:fire:
I know it’s only day 2 of no MS but my sadness and anger seem to be getting stronger, not fading. I like the idea of the tshirt. Or maybe the Morning Sedition messenger bag.
Hey Methaz, I believe I have all of June 2004 on disc. How do I get it to you? And which ones are you missing?
Okay, after reading that reply from Mr. Sinton(Thanks sgarcia70! You Rock:banana:) it sounds like Marc will have a regular show, what, 5 days a week maybe? Shit, what time will it be on? I so love to hear Marc in the morning. The mornings are so important to me and I was sure to get a good belly laugh EVERY morning. And doing my morning routine with Morning Sedition was so PERFECT! My mornings had never been so perfect, and now I suck what I can out of old shows, and though, I laugh and marvel at the progress the show made, I know that I can’t listen to those forever. There must be something new.
`111111111qDSXWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW MY CAT, AGAIN.
I believe I listened to much of Morning Sedition sbliminally. I go through this gradual phase of wakin up over the course of an hour or so, and occasionally nod off. The freakiest part for me was when I listened to the weekly Dream Diary and I could swear I consistently heard what sounded like a telephone ringin in the background music. I would be noddin off and think that someone was callin me!
The show was better than hallucinegic drugs (which I have never taken BTW).
The stream played Old Franken Reruns. I woke up to several Bill O’Reilly skits. Qite hilarious. Katherine was on the show.
Long Live Morning Sedition:peace:
I almost would be willing to give up my MS messenger bag for a virtual tour, but it works great for my laptop and its got some dings on it from use.
And my MS sweatshirt I willdonate if no one minds that it got worn to an Echo & the Bunnymen concert one time.
hey buddies:
i’ve forumed on MS.aar and here but this is my very first blog. ever….
anyway, i called the l.a. station today to ask about marc, the woman i talked to hadn’t heard anything!!! about a new show. so i doubt if we’re looking at a week or two. Who’s Jon Sinton?
yours in serious withdrawal mode…
Travis,
Hope recovery is going well!
Jon Sinton is usually a pretty straight-forward guy. He responded to my emails and he was one of the strong Marc supporters. (he hired him in the first place) If he’s saying that Marc will have a daily show, I’m starting to get my hopes up.

Dr Dance–
I believe the info you were given re: the GWB is incorrect. The rule is, if you are entering Manhattan south of 96 Street between 5am and 11am, you must have 4 people in your car. From what I understand, there are folks looking for rides up there, but you can avoid the hassle by planning to arrive after 11am.
You can read more at the city’s Web site.
Evening everybody, mornin’ for me….that letter from Jon Sinton sounded great. Man, I hate being dragged along…
sgarcia, thanks for passing that along. I had thought today I might write to Jon Sinton. Maybe I will and we can see if I get the same answer.
If we get a Marc Maron show, with Jim Earl and Kent Jones I may just die of happiness.
:banana::banana::banana:
If there hadn’t been a Morning Sedition, Riley’s show would have been just fine. I can’t help but feel sorry for him…he MUST know that it’s just not the same. He is such a nice man…I’m so torn. But I miss MS dearly and I’m still kinda weepy.
I mean, here we are…it’s winter, we live in a dictatorship, and there’s no Morning Sedition. That’s pretty bleak.
Final check before beddy-bye…no Travis news yet, eh?
Did you all see what Frist did? These guys are such bastards:
On Sunday night, Frist and Hastert inserted an stealth provision into the 2006 Defense Appropriations spending report “that protects vaccine manufacturers from product liability claims in the event of a viral pandemic, such as one caused by avian flu.” But not only is this provision unrelated to defense appropriations spending, it was inserted after conferees had signed off on the report and will benefit foreign-owned corporations:

nighty-night (oh please g:bow:ive marc a show oh please give marc a show…..)
I hope that all of our continued pressure is at least putting Marc in a stronger position to bargain for a new show. He needs to get enough of a budget to pay all the writers and put together a high quality show; the kind of show that MS had become.
Or maybe Sirius and/or XM has taken note of Marc’s talent and potential, and has gotten into the picture. If that’s why a new AAR show hasn’t been finalized, then that’s great. I hope Marc is in a position to get a great deal, and I honestly would be happy to pay for satellite (again) to get Marc and the rest of the crew w/o FCC interference (or commercials).
Nighty night farmerkat! Time for me to start my day…
pj: man, how we would all love for Marc to get a good gig anywhere!
I just wanna hear that inspirational voice again “Live”
I’m sure Travis is still way out of it, man. I sent him some green healing energy today I hope that’s the right color:smile:
I have a confession. I am feeling really guilty about not listening to Riley. As I’m listening to these old ones I am missing him but I think I’m missing him WITH Marc, the back and forth, the bouncing ideas, THE DYNAMICS, MAN! He sounds so happy.
Hey Kristapea! I don’t think you deserve any penance for that. I listened to Cspan’s Washington Journal this morning/last night……listened to a little Riley but it’s just not the same. I think we’re all in this boat and that’s why we’re here…..:fire:
When I listen to these old Dream Diaries it’s weird because I know exactly what I was doing during those times, so it’s like time traveling. Now I’m getting sentimental and I haven’t even been drinking.
I agree with you Kristapea about Mark’s dynamics on MS. I mean, he was accused of having a “man crush” on Jim Earl after a few of the bits, which is why I was amused when talk of a feud appeared on the blog.
I’ve been listening to Riley’s show this week and you can tell he misses his old playmate. Sometimes his timing slips and Marc isn’t there to catch it and return the volley. Three was too many, one not enough. But I’m not sure that “British Lady” with either Marc or Mark would have worked. Pops said it — it was a chemistry he’d never experienced before. But he’ll get back into the cadence of the solo work he’s developed, but I can not see listening live from 2 to 4 AM West Coast…that is the dead zone for ratings. Talk about the kiss of death.
The only people listening at 2-4 am are meth freaks, security guards, and Americans in Japan.
Are you gonna’ take that, Tom T?
(fidgets nervously, rises from chair, clears throat)
Hi. I’m Clarke and I’m a Milfaholic.
The following is something I wrote to you guys and then cut n’ pasted, which is so tacky but, frankly, not so much for me the talking off the cuff.
Then I decided I couldn’t expect everyone to wade through this amount of text, so if you wanna get your ass kissed, go here. I sure hope the link doesn’t look like that when it posts. I don’t do this a lot, the computing.
Long story short, thanks.
HI CLARKE!
Thanks citizenkane. That’s a relief. My upset is further proof that the media doesn’t do its job.:holla: We get CNN news, not AAR news. Their reporting put us into worry about traveling mode. As if snow and ice weren’t enough
Question: Why are so many of the early shows no longer available? It’s so strange, May 18 and then, I believe, November appears. Do any of you know why they have erased the summer and much of the fall podcasts?
I’m going to write to Jon Sinton tomorrow. I can’t believe how sad I still feel, but I have to admit, I am concentrating more on my paperwork now that my radio has been silenced.
However, I still am exercising to Riley, wondering what is goingthrough his mind. Being relegated to Rachel’s time and the first hour of what was MS, must be hard. For awhile I thought he resented Marc, but his words on the last show helped me get scrog that story.
Good night. Once again it’s way too late.
Travis, we’re thinking of you and sending healing energy.
Last!
JP
Great post, Clarke. I just nominated Camp Butch for a Koufax award as best new blog (even though it’s only arguably a blog) — just so you know.
Good morning geniuses! Hey, buddies, what’s up?
Like DrDance, I’m in my 3rd day of listening to Mark Riley’s show, and I’ve come to the conclusion that this would have been a perfectly acceptable radio show — if there had never been a Morning Sedition.
Where’s Borzou Daragahi? Where is Mick Ware? Where are the great gonzo cultural figures we used to hear as guests in the morning? And why are we hearing so much of this MSNBC gadget guy?
Mark sounds depressed and lost. He is a trouper, to be sure, but this has got to be tough. I hate, hate, hate what Danny Goldberg has done, but I just can’t bear to punish Mark Riley for it.
I’m going to write to Sinton too. Let’s see what kinds of responses we all get.
Travisdem_04 Be well. You are in my thoughts and many peoples’ thoughts and also in our prayers :priest:
:fire:
Hey Clarke, I’ve been a Camp Butch fan since I saw a referral to my “last show” post in my logs. In fact, it was somebody at AAR who was at Camp Butch, and followed that link, so I can tell you that somebody, at least, from AAR appreciates it as well.
Hail to the Chief, or God Bless the King???
Dear Former Citizens of the United States Of America;
We former citizens of this great democracy should be happy that our new King George & his Lord Dick should consent to speak of their desire to give of our wealth, health, and lives of our youth for their ambitions, and not make those disturbing noises in opposition. We chattel should know our place and not trouble ourselves with the judgments of our King and his Lords of Neo-Con.
The constitution is what our king should wish it to be, and we should be pleased we have the freedoms he allows us today, and not risk his displeasure with what remains of them.
Welcome to the Kingdom of America, God Bless Our King, King George the Bush, and his trusted Lords Dick Cheney, Condi Rice, and Donald Rumsfeldt. We are but chattel for their desires, and needs, we should be so pleased to have surrendered our civil liberties, our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for his righteous leadership.
So we mourn the death of the democracy of the United States of America, and so ‘long live the King?’
Happy Thoughts;
Dan Grady
