Well, the big news yesterday was that – gasp – you can’t teach Intelligent Design in science class because it isn’t fucking science  (I reckon it was better than reporting that the President of the United States has willfully and dliberately – and repeatedly – violated the US constitution). US District Court Judge John Jones referred to the “breathtaking inanity” of the school board in the town of Dover (which had already been given the boot by voters in November) .
The Judge took 139 pages to state that teaching intelligent design violated the “establishment clause” of the First Amendment to the Constitution.
He could have done it much more succinctly.
“Bill O’Reilly. Rush Limbaugh. Anne Coulter. Sean Hannity. Geroge W. Bush. Danny Goldberg. Intelligent Design? I don’t thiiiiiink so.”
Judge Jones said “it is ironic that several of these individuals, who so staunchly and proudly touted their religious convictions in public, would time and again lie to cover their tracks and disguise the real purpose behind the ID policy.”
I guess the judge hasn’t heard about the new, improved, Kristian movement: Fuck the poor, enrich the wealthy, kill the A-Rabs, lie to the people, save the fetus, starve the child.
Aint that what Jeebus would do?
I’m listening to Mark Riley now. It’s really good to hear his voice. I love his indignation at the administration and the republicans early in the morning. If Marc gets a daily show I will feel alot better, though.
Mornin’ everyone. That shouldn’t be an issue. I can’t believe in this day and age they are trying to teach intelligent design as science. Stupid freakin’ christofascistzombiebrigade. I heard that at the grand canyon they have pamphlets that says the canyon was created by Noah’s flood.
:omg:
I have a two-word argument against intelligent design:
Danny Goldberg.
(Another argument would be the number of misspellings that were originally in this post before I made corrections. But I digress.)
Good morning everyone. I’m back to work and trying out the Riley show. Although I hedged my bets and brought along a Margaret Cho CD in case I lose interest. C’mon Mark, make me like it.
The January issue of Spin includes a piece on alternative stand-up comedy. Our favorite gets a namecheck about halfway through the article. Maron gets a mention just after David Cross and Sarah Silverman, so at least he’s in good company.
If Bush is spying on this blog, FUCK YOU!!!
Evening,
Marc was in the best company – ours. š
Everytime I hear the save the children ad with Lennon’s music behind it, it reminds me of Maron….
Evening Kong, mornin’ Kevin M
Riley said to Marc on the last Morning Sedition show, “I’m going to miss you terribly.” I believe he does.
Riley’s new show doesn’t do it for me. It’s aimed at another audience that doesn’t include me.
I’m kind of aimless now in the morning. BBC radio comedy works great for me in the evenings, but I’ve been doing that for a long time, so there I have something familiar to anchor me.
I would like to see Wayne Gillman get more air time with Mark Riley.
Morning, all. I have Riley on the radio but haven’t been paying much attention. It seems that he sort of shouts or projects his voice too much. Maybe he was always like that but I didn’t notice. In Marc’s absence, I’ve become petulant and nitpicky….
Riley’s show would be just fine if there had never been a Morning Sedition. He’s so used to having a sidekick, I think he’s having trouble doing the whole thing by itself.
Mark has asked Brendon questions, and Brendon isn’t on the mike or doesn’t answer.
A little like the brothers in Stuck on You.
Happy Winter Solstice! ā
PJS:
I believe in Intelligent Design. Hoowever, my belief dictates that it occurs after a long line of successive, yet failed, Intelligent Design beings evolved through the process of natural selection. The final winning Intelligent Design being came along through a mutation.
I have a few people at work with me on this theory. We call it Intelligent Design Design, or IDD for short. I think I can get the Cardinal on board with this.
I still don’t get it…..why just more talking heads? Morning Sedition was brilliant! I don’t see Riley getting the ratings….I like Riley just fine but as BAB has said if there hadn’t already been a Morning Sedition…
One thing I liked about Maron’s decision on what constituted good comedy was that he refused to do song parodies, unless they were part of some character, and even then it was pretty rare (Earl’s song raps for instance). His sense of humor was truly refined and not cookie-cutter.
Hi all…
Who was it that wrote the book about unintelligent design, giving examples such as the design of the sinus (after the brain housing having to crush it somewhat over time or during…um…EVOLUTION!) as being totally unintelligent…The human body and the design of this universe is pretty spectacular but there also are quite a few things that are f’ed up and perhaps would have been designed differently had some intelligent being really been at work…as opposed to just what happens over time and due to the local elements. I cant believe that this is really an issue….What would Maron say??
Hi fellow bloggers
I don’t get it either Riley by himself is well… boooorrrrring.
So….what was the big news happening with AAR programming that Laura Flanders mentioned the other night but never got to? Was it this….Air America Mornings….What a stupid stupid concept….sounds like Fox and Friends! Keep it nice Golberg…..let’s have more sports updates! :40:
Good Morning Lost Seditionists,
I think I will write Jon Sinton today. I can’t believe we have to wait after the holidays to find out. Wait wait wait.Arrrrggh!
So, now we have a list of top posters. Is this a contest now?
Anyway, Ive been wanting to post but have been out of the house during this time (and actually running because I should be wrapping presents etc…) anyway, Im a podcaster for the most part and it has crushed me that DG has upset the lineup in the AM…talk about unintelligent…it makes no sense and I hope that the board see this.
I knew that he wanted to move Rachel back to a better spot because she is all over th place and on TV and all…he also said it in the NY Times…he said that he would be moving her to a more prominent place in drivetime.
I suppose that it didnt occur to him that he had already once cancelled her brilliant show out of drivetime and that everything would be perfect and have grown a huge audience by now. Anyhoo…The Riley thing doesnt work for me. I like him with a co-host but dont feel like he can handle this alone. It is painful to listen to him…maybe because he has big shoes to fill and he isnt as quick as Maron in general. It comes off as stilted and like hes trying to make jokes but isnt very good at it. I thought the renaming of Little Golaith was in poor taste mainly because his new names werent funny and when Marc did it he managed to do it with love; to create a lovable character who everyone could love. Riley cant rename him HEMP and just go on!
Look, I respect him and I think hes really smart…but he should have an afternoon or better, weekend show.
Those Stern fans were just wasted now…and I am off to find the next thing until Rachel’s show starts.
Rachel is great and if she makes use of Kent Jones it will be OK…I dont, for the life of me, know why DG wouldnt give her the Springer slot and move him to 2AM where he belongs (if anywhere…tho my Mom likes him…ugh!)
Anyway, I will end up podcasting whatever Maron does at night into mornings…
If Franken gets a co-host again maybe Ill start listening to him again…
I cant see how they can call the Majority Report a Jeaneane show when she is hardly on at all…
Its all screwed up.
And its Christmastime…very sad…oh well…
Here’s a joke I heard in electrical engineering school:
It’s obvious that God is a civil engineer. After all, who else would run a sewer through a playground?
The transit strike is keeping the stockbrokers away from their bags of money so they are unhappy.. poor cry babies. The strike is only way labor can speak as a unit so this is strike breaking at its worse. Since they are not protected by the Feds they need other unions to join them .. I am pretty sure the public employees in NYC are unionized. Have Consolidated Edison walk out and turn off the power behind them.
Methaz…exactly! When I look at how we are put together…not to mention what it was like to go through childbirth…I cant imagine that there is some God somewhere who thinks that we need to endure pain and despair of this level to attain purity or whatever…The whole waste thing really freaks me out.
I had to put a new septic in here at my Grandfather’s country house. Im from Brooklyn and living in the woods this past 11 years has brought me closer to the pooh than I want to be. I know the wonders of soil etc…but, man…
Boy, it sure is nice being troll free. I wonder who the troll is bothering now. You know what? I don’t care! AAAAAHaaahahhahahahahhahahhhhhhaaaaaa!
š methaz! (It did take me a moment of thought.)
You know, Fred, Im right outside of the city as as I type this my 70+ year old Mom is walking 40+ blocks to the train to come up here….proudly…we are so behind the union in this case. It is reprehensible what the MTA does and has been doing. Our safety depends on these guys and they make a little more than Walmart employees. Meanwhile the guys on top get their bonus’ and get to decide what to do with the windfall. This is Reganomics in action (which I watched happen in horrifying slomo as people moved to the streets, living in cardboard, while the great man denied that AIDS existed) and the deregulation of all of this stuff is what is coming home to roost. The idea was that the corporations would regualate themselves…well, think again. The fox is in the henhouse and no one gives a fuck about who is starving…
Sorry…Im full of words this AM because I cant hear
Maron…
Counting the days until the midterms so that we can get a congress that can demand hearings on all of this stuff…
PS – I put the early shows that were at AAP on-line at http://www.seditionparty.org.
Riley will eventually hit his stride, and Rachel is OK, but to be honest, who cares? Like jasonwkinney said, another talking head show is just another talking head show. May be incrementally better than others, but not likely to hold my attention for more than a few minutes. Unless you’re a dittohead, a constant diatribe isn’t very interesting.
Methaz- speaking of unintelligent design. My DOS skills suck and Im wondering about the archive download thing. The DOS window is trying to download but keeps saying that wget is not a command…are there further instructions for that archive download. I need to get it on my iPod 60 gig so I can just listen all the time till Maron gets his show
just wanted to say thanks to the folks that left the link to the picture of danny goldberg. the guys i saw getting out of the limo friday in front of AAR offices were both clean shaven, but one of them might i have been goldberg. i sure hope so. what a joy to get in his face….still can’t listen to riley, makes me miss marc too much, so still listening to the ends of old shows that i missed…regards to you all, hope the strike ends soon
Shows keep disapearing off AAP site. 376 is now down to 252!
Melina – Since the archive is now on my web page, you can grab individual shows whenever you want. I tried to respond to your email but it bounced for some reason.
King Kong – I’ve got 135 shows from 2004 (everything after 15 June 04 and a few shows before that), and all 248 shows from 2005, 383 total. Sort of waiting to see what Bob@aap is going to do, but will try to do some simple indexes as time permits.
Again, anybody with the missing shows send me a copy and I’ll put it online for folks to grab!
Hey Kristapea!
Just a reminder folks, Travis Dem had surgery yesterday. Show your support at his site The Sedition Edition
The AFLCIO needs to send their workers to the School of the Americas. In fact a lot more people on the left ( I know a few that are Special Forces escapees) need to participate in this kind of “authorized” activity.
sorry people can’t get the link thingy to work. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong….
Methaz:
You are a more intelligently designed EE than I am. It took me reading through the other comments before I got the joke.
Methaz- So I am saving mp3’s to my Morning Sedition folder…does that mean that they are in my computer now?…Can I transfer them to my iPod? (maybe should look in my iPod for dummies book?) I am too dependent on things going into iTunes and automatically into my pod.
Funny…The computer just started playing whatever is the first show on the site and its so nice to hear them talking even if the news is old.
Thanks so much for saving these shows…its a real, literal, lifesaver for me.
I like that an Oregon caller suggested a general strike to support the transit workers.
If you are semi mechanically inclined buying an ink refill kit at BestBuy is a much better deal than buying the ink cartridges from the manufacturer. Be sure to do the work in the sink however.
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii
I am a troll!
:crap::evil::evil::40::bow::peace::peace::banana:I drink alka seltzer. Go back to work, you bolshevik transit workers.
its nice to be posting this AM though by 9 Im off runnign again.
You know, all these months I would get home in the evening and read the entire blog…and just be insane because I heard this or that and wanted to comment.
I suppose its better for the blog because Im a writer and can get really wordy…so probably better to be in the car talking to the radio than posting long diatribes here or there…heh…
Its just too bad to have the time to be on the blog and not have a common show to listen to. I usually save the time in my XM player and play that in the car…also iTunes or whatever magic entity has not been giving me the show daily since Marc is gone. Maybe they stopped the podcasting during this time..?
methaz- Thanks for the info and base. I’ll take a look to see what I might have on a retired computer after this weekend.
Niki-funny you should say that. Im wondering if Im becoming more and more socialist these days …but is that the shift ?? because to expect some government regulation and protection for the lower classes seems almost communist these days…what has happened to this country?
I have two computer at home. One is an ancient AMD 700 MHZ one but it runs XP so I connected the DSL modem to it and use internet line sharing and the firewall feature of XP. The other computer is networked to that one. I only get into trouble if I venture into the red light district. Then my spy killer and anti virus software usually find the offenders. Norton anti virus comes with a net up date feature that updates the virus definitions regularly.
Hey Methaz,
When I started downloading all the shows, I guess there were some missing. Here’s what I have: June 1-5,10,16-18,21-25,28-30. Maybe they went on vacation between the 5th and 10th and were playing reruns.Let me know which ones you don’t have.
My friends from Stockholm are in town this week and they are just in shock about what is going on. I am giving them Franken’s book as part of the x-mas present mainly because I know he checks his facts super well…
They say that the socialism thing is not what its cracked up to be…but then they have really sane lives…even as everyone in their city wants to move here if they can afford it…
jason- No word from travisdem about the ear, yet.
Good morning sheeple!
I was never a regular on the MS blog, but I listened every day and now I’m lost. I used to download the podcast and listen to it as I worked in the kitchen or ran errandes etc.
This is the longest my iPod has been idle since I got it.
Anyway, Bush has just admitted to blatantly breaking the law with illegal spying and there’s no Morning Sedition to get my blood boiling while laughing about it at the same time.
Without a little Maron humor to keep me sane, my own blog is going to just sound bitter and angry, I’m afraid. U.S. Resistance
Kong- Nope no word yet, but I bet after he gets outta the hospital he’ll be :40: and happy that he won’t have to deal with his ear problems anymore.
Is travis’ site http://www.theseditionedition.com ?
I cant seem to get in it…
http://theseditionedition.blogspot.com/
is the address I’ve got for travis.
Sweden is not socialist. A very few people dominate the economy, as is the case in this country. The difference in a country like Sweden is that there are no big tax cuts for the rich. There are generous social programs. But there is an elite that has a larger voice in social decisions.
I gues they call it Social Democracy. Capitalism with a smiley face:lol:
welcome and mornin’ Sufilizard. It’s amazing to see all the posters who weren’t regulars on the blog. The fan base was much bigger than Danny Ditso ever believed! š”
Kong-How do you make it a link without the full url?
yes Niki…and I guess that these folks have enough money to go to the doctors that they need beyond what is provided by the government, but it would not be so great if they had to completely rely on what the government offers. But, at least every person can get healthcare if they need it. Here its like a maze to try to find a free clinic or whatever. Ive done research on this in my area and whatever system there is is very time consuming and doesnt work.
I guess that the big problem for them now is the insulated minority groups who suddenly lash out…and its very dark there.
Riley had David Bender on his show. A clip of Bender’s recent interview with Johm Kerry was played.
Hey. When do we organize the Morning Seditionists Movement–I did not say party–Fucking Springer just came on. I need to go to Kinkos to put my zine together.:peace::peace::priest::omg:
Hey Jason, highlight the word(s) you want for the link, then click the “link” button, and a box will pop up to put the full URL in.
I don’t know. does the ‘link’ button work?
or how?
oh God Sufi…me too… I feel your pain.
Yesterday I had Ring of Fire in my iPod but that is a pretty short show with no commercials…what will I do without these guys plugged into my head keeping me company all day? Its an addiction…and Mark Riley doesnt do it for me.
I need that new Maron show and I need it now!
I’m gonna write Stinton again. Does anyone know what his title is at AAR? He has been very good about answering email. I just hope he is passing on what we have been saying.
Mine usually comes after my third cup of coffee. š
Study the Spanish Revolution in the 1930s– before the fucking communists usurped the revolution.
Diego Santillan wrote a book called (I think) After the Revolution. Socialist economics in action.:peace::omg:
:fustrate:
How DO you make a hot link?
Kong-your link worked fine.
Pj-thanks…it’s a Safari web browser issue. Damn you Safari! :fustrate:
Gotta go back to fire fox……
Hey Jason, try using FireFox. Oops, I guess you said, that already.
:40::40::doh::doh:trolling!
jason – I’m on Safai, too. Tell me if you get another to work.
Can this blog handle other fonts? Like: ????
Have a great day everyone…I hope to be able to blog over the holidays because things will be quiet, thank god…
Is Riley’s blog working yet? I would so love to give some feedback.
I’ll second nickirose’s Sweden post. They no longer have actual post offices. My Swedish girlfriend Annika bitchs about their current post and shop system where you send and recieve packages a designated store, in her case a tobacconist’s. She longs for the days when they had actual post offices.
The current crop of Social Democrats are almost as corrupt and incompetent as the Repugs…so much so that a Bush lite politician who heads their “Moderate” party may win next years elections because of the current government’s unpopularity.
The Sedition Edition Travis Dem’s site…leave a good word.
The Era
My site. I just posted the Maureen Dowd article for those who don’t have Times Select or any other resources to find it…
Notice Sinton’s now talking daily Maron show instead of just a weekend bone thrown to the fans? They must be finally realizing what a stupid move they made, especially if they see the rapid growth in this blog’s activity after Friday.
Worked fine Pj…thanks!! š
Kristapea – I have:
18 May 04
1-4 June
9 June
Everything after 15 June.
From your list, please send me the 10 June show (kac@methaz.com). 5 June should have been a saturday; please send it as well (may be a repeat of a show I don’t have). Thanks!
Wow Yak….Usually I spend the whole time with them asking me a billion questions about whats going on here because they dont get much news and arent all that computer literate (though he is a editor at one of the main arts papers there) But this time Im gonna barrage them with questions and make them answer further than “oh, you would hate it here!”
I know the mail situation is screwed up and expensive…I guess there is no utopia.
Maybe its time to start a state of Sedition…sorta like Utah but funner….comedy, mail, and healthcare for all…!
travisdem_04 Cheers :alc: To Your Health
Be Well  Be cool š
Blessings :priest:
:fire:
jason- glad worked in firefox. I’m trying Netscape. This is a great place for bits.
Melina –
I live in the Linux world, so I’m on thin ice here, but once they are in your folder they are on your computer, so you should be able to transfer them to the iPod. When you go to the index page, right click on a show you want to download, then pick “save as”. I think if you left click it will start streaming rather than downloading.
Chuck (methaz/satblog)
:peace: It works! I sent a bug report to Safari.
???
Apparently Drudge is reporting that both Carter and Clinton authorized non warrant phone surveillance too. Hartman says this is false but I didn’t get the particulars of why its false.
In any case Warning.. Warning slime alert.. slime alert. ….I wish there was a way you could actually do something about this crap.
Sweden still has mail deliveries to people’s homes and mailboxes, but if a parcel’s too big for your mailbox, they leave a note telling you to pick it up at the designated post and shop place. Occasionally, a considerate mailman will knock on the door to see if anyone’s home before leaving the note.
THeir medical system’s definitely better than ours, but can be overly inflexible and bureaucratic too. Annika and her stepdad had to fight a real battle to get an adequate vaporizer for her asthmatic mom.
The good side to their system is that Annika, who’s also severely asthmatic was able to take retirement at the ripe old age of 38 with a decent pension.
Fred or anyone else, have you ever listened to Drudge’s radio show? I have and it’s really strange.
Phone survelliance on who? Political or national? individual or organizational? Leagally orilleagally?
???
I remember a reply somebody posted on the MS blog from Sinton, quite a while back, that said they wanted to get Marc on a daily West Coast show that wouldn’t “be too late on the East Coast.” Marc still talked about an evening show after that (I suppose that if 5:00 is the evening in LA, then that’s “not too late” in the east), and weekends. Sinton also said that the show would be available streaming and on podcast (for a fee, as we know now).
If I had to guess, I would suspect something similar to the Thom Hartmann deal. They offer it as AAR syndication, and maybe play some of it on the weekends on “official” AAR stations. The difference is that Thom already had other podcast distribution set up (through the White Rose Society). That may change after the pay-to-play stuff starts on AAR.
Good Morning:
Nice new emotocons. Hope Travis is faring well. It seems ironic that the dumbest people are the ones pushing intelligent design.
Safari may take a few days.
My post office also asks you pick up packages that are to large to fit into your mail box at the post office that services your zip code. They always deliver packages to the front door. Its been that way for ever. Apparently not a national standard.
Drudge Fact Check at Think Progress
What Drudge says:
Clinton, February 9, 1995: āThe Attorney General is authorized to approve physical searches, without a court orderā
What Clinton actually signed:
Section 1. Pursuant to section 302(a)(1) [50 U.S.C. 1822(a)] of the [Foreign Intelligence Surveillance] Act, the Attorney General is authorized to approve physical searches, without a court order, to acquire foreign intelligence information for periods of up to one year, if the Attorney General makes the certifications required by that section.
What Drudge says:
Jimmy Carter Signed Executive Order on May 23, 1979: āAttorney General is authorized to approve electronic surveillance to acquire foreign intelligence information without a court order.ā
What Carterās executive order actually says:
1-101. Pursuant to Section 102(a)(1) of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (50 U.S.C. 1802(a)), the Attorney General is authorized to approve electronic surveillance to acquire foreign intelligence information without a court order, but only if the Attorney General makes the certifications required by that Section.
What the Attorney General has to certify under that section is that the surveillance will not contain āthe contents of any communication to which a United States person is a party.ā So again, no U.S. persons are involved.
What Drudge said..
FLASHBACK: CLINTON, CARTER SEARCH ‘N SURVEILLANCE WITHOUT COURT ORDER
Bill Clinton Signed Executive Order that allowed Attorney General to do searches without court approval
Clinton, February 9, 1995: “The Attorney General is authorized to approve physical searches, without a court order”
WASH POST, July 15, 1994, “Administration Backing No-Warrant Spy Searches”: Extend not only to searches of the homes of U.S. citizens but also — in the delicate words of a Justice Department official — to “places where you wouldn’t find or would be unlikely to find information involving a U.S. citizen… would allow the government to use classified electronic surveillance techniques, such as infrared sensors to observe people inside their homes, without a court order.”
Deputy Attorney General Jamie S. Gorelick, the Clinton administration believes the president “has inherent authority to conduct warrantless searches for foreign intelligence purposes.”
Secret searches and wiretaps of Aldrich Ames’s office and home in June and October 1993, both without a federal warrant.
Government officials decided in the Ames case that no warrant was required because the searches were conducted for “foreign intelligence purposes.”
Government lawyers have used this principle to justify other secret searches by U.S. authorities.
“The number of such secret searches conducted each year is classified…”
Jimmy Carter Signed Executive Order on May 23, 1979: “Attorney General is authorized to approve electronic surveillance to acquire foreign intelligence information without a court order.”
From the WaPost:
My post office had a package for me that needed my signature. I live close to my office. They brought the package to my office (probably illegal). I got it. Otherwise I would have gotten two ‘not home’ notes and on the third day a ‘go to the PO’ note.
I know you all would rather not but I’d recommend atleast one listen to Drudge’s radio show. It’s very bizarre. He is soooo contradictory..it’s amazing. I can’t believe there are people out there that follow him like a cult and there are alot of ’em. Even in the news rooms. My brother and I were talking about this the other day. Drudge does get leaks to future news articles that are to be printed the next day. How does that happen?
By just the little troll in the printing room? What is the ethics in the news anyway?
it will be interesting to see what the M$M has to say about what Drudge said. They too are sheep. Thanks PJ for posting the think progress rebuttal.
Wow, this blog is really hoppin’
I’m supposed to be workng this morning, but I just can’t get my head right without Morning Sedition in my ear.
It’s almost Christmas, I expect everyone’s productivity is down anyway.
P.S. I’m using Safari, but haven’t noticed any bugs. I tracked through the blog, but I can’t seem to find the post with the initial problem. But I can probably help with a lot of Mac issues for future reference.
Usually my mailman will leave a large package with my landlord if I’m not home.
Annika’s main beef with the Post & Shop system is that packages are being constantly either lost or routed to the wrong person by the folks who ran the tobacconist shop. That wasn’t a problem under their old system.
By the way, if you haven’t signed on to Howard Dean’s FOIA request for the release of still-classified legal opinions laying out the supposed justification for this domestic spying program, reportedly written by political appointees in the Justice Department’s Office of Legal Counsel, you might want to think about it. A valid address is required.
Drudge? :omg: My brotherinlaw ALWAYS keeps abreast.
Drudge says that his site is the number one read internet news site. There must be a lot of misinformed wing nuts. I have always thought FOX was where they became misinformed.
Sufilizard: the problem is when you type in a word that you want to be a link, highlight it, then click the link button and when the window does pop up and then fill in the url to make it a link. It seems complete….but it didn’t make it a link. I had the same problem over on the AAR site. Can you do it? Show me….
Hey Fred, Drudge is only for the small number of wingnuts that can read. Fox misinforms the illiterate masses.
So glad to find this site. I only discovered Morning Sedition 4 months agoāthen that A-hole cancels it!
I have not listened to one second of Air America since last Friday. I’m waiting to find out where Marc ends up. He is just the best.
On Intelligent Design: kudos to Dover. One of South Carolina’s idiot politicians is starting that crap here.
Drudge is a freakin’ lying idiot!
That must be why he’s so popular. Maybe Diebold reports web site ratings now too.
Fox gets to many, but Drudge gets to those I talk with. šÆ
Druge is #1!? I always thought it was #2:crap:
š great yaktreats!
???
Well, weather I right click or left click the stream starts playing so I have to shut it off and go onto the next show…oh well…the shows are saving to the folder so I guess thats all that counts.
On the mail thing, it cuts both ways…there is nothing worse than standing on line in NYC trying to get a package…but then, now a days Im in the country and IM finding we and frozen packages all over the place…sometimes in a snow drift…because the mailman is trying to be helpful by bringing stuff up to the house or not or whatever…somehow they dont want to take them back so I find some in the spring melt…used books from Amazon, no doubt, but still….
Gotta go guys, later!:peace:
Jason,
I didn’t use the buttons, I just put in the code manually and it worked fine for me. You have to use the “less than” bracket and the code just looks like “a href=”http://URL.com” then make sure to close tag with the “greater than” bracket. Then type the text you want to actually appear then close with “/a” inside the “greater than, less than” brackets.
I don’t know what happens with the “link” button. Apparently the code it puts in is almost right. You’ll see the code appear enclosed in brackets. All you need to do is type the text that you want to be the active link AFTER the code it puts in automatically then you have to close the link with the “/a” enclosed in the same “greater than, less than” brackets. — If I actually type the brackets myself it won’t display.
Drudge is a freak. I just don’t understand how he has the access to cutting room type of stuff.
Hey- Thanks again to Methaz and everyone else involved in saving these programs…I am listening from the beginning and its just great.
Melina,
Did I read earlier that you’re on a Mac? If so, hold down the “option” key when you click the link. That should give you a menu and one of the options should be “download to desktop” or something.
If you’re not on a Mac, the right-click should do essentially the same thing.
Where “in the country” are you? I just moved to Northern Indiana and I’m experiencing my first winter up here. So far we’ve gotten packages brought up to the door, but occassionally they leave them on the porch. Luckily it’s protected from the wind. I imagine we’ll find a lot of newspapaers during the spring thaw though.
like this… The Sedition Edition
Sufilizard: got it thanks……

Im in the north end of Stamford CT…its right outside of NYC but is a remote spot sorta close to the city. No neighbors…its rare but my grandfather bought in the the 40’s so Im lucky…but its a very different life than I had.
Though…I lived in MT for a couple of yrs and this cold is nothing like that cold!…this remote is nothing like that remote (location-wise)
Im off…have a great day everyone! Im gonna be driving round talking to the saved Riley on the MyFi…ugh!Im thnking that Rachel will end up taking over the whole slot…maybe they gave Riley and extra hour to throw him a bone…later
A thought on supporting the Transit strike
I wonder if Moveon would be at all interested in keeping a fund to pay the fines. That would make the rethugs durty their pants. Anyone have Eli Pariser’s email address.
Melina,
I kind of know the area, my uncle used to live in Greenwich. It’s been quite a few years now though.
We used to live in Indianapois (not quite NYC, but still a relatively urban environment), then made the major lifestyle change about 7 years ago when we moved to a house in the woods in southern Indiana. We were an hour drive from anything that could be called a city. We heated with wood, made our own maple syrup, collected morel mushrooms in the spring and grew a huge organic garden.
But then we adopted three kids and moved closer to family. We’re still pretty rural, but at least we’re a minute away from a small town with the kids’ school and a grocery, hardware store, and a couple of other conveniences.
Pj, you are great. I used to hear Randi thanking the bloggers for all the work they do. Now I understand what she was talking about.
Methaz, once I go through my MS downloads I’ll work on getting the rest from you, if that’s still ok.
Re: Riley: I heard his interview with the head of the Transit Authority. It was great, but I wish they had explained the Tier concept. If you live in NY, you know that unions have gvien up rights on a regular basis. Teachrs who start now are on Tier 4. The newbies think they have great benefits, but the benefits of the Tier 1 people who are retiring now are so much better than what the Newbies get.
TA workers want to ensure that future workers get the same benefits current workers get.
We get CNN news clips, not Wayne Gilman. Their reporting was so biased I sent an e-mail complaining to them. I would never have taken the time to do so if it hadn’t been for the blog.
  It’s just the right signature for me. Since I do not know the rules of how much we share and don’t share about ourselves, I’ll leave it to you to figure out why. š
As far as the strike, I couldn’t believe how biased NPR and PBS have gotten.
I happened to listen to NPR in the car yesterday (since I have no MS podcast) and then in a very rare event, I actually had time to watch the evening news for about 10 minutes yesterday evening.
They all talked about the fine, but no explanation as to why it is illegal. I’m sure the union felt that they had SOME legal ground to stand on or at least had a statement why they’re willing to risk such a heavy fine — but no news source I found was willing to give that side of it.
I’ve never been in a union, and no one in my family has either — but I realize that even people like me benefit from a strong labor movement. Without unions setting the standards for salary and benfits the rest of us will continue to see declins in both.
Great idea, Fred. Of course, they keep his e-mail address pretty well hidden; most of the mail I get from him comes through a no-reply list, but I did find one with a slightly less obtuse address: info@moveon.org.
[NOTE: Started to post the below earlier today, then got hung up on the timeframe. Still trying to confirm that the bankruptcy I heard referred to wasn’t more recent . . .]
Melina, you are so right. In my pro-strike post yesterday, I forgot to mention this: MTA chairman Peter Kalikow filed for personal bankruptcy!
Here’s a good scoop re: his heinous history with money and unions. (The ninth paragraph is particularly salient. Note too that in the second paragraph, he is referred to as “millionaire realtor” Peter Kalikow.)
And don’t get me started on Pataki!
HAIL TO THE CHEIF, OR GOD BLESS THE KING???
Dear Former Citizens of the United States Of America;
We former citizens of this great democracy should be happy that our new King George & his Lord Dick should consent to speak of their desire to give of our wealth, health, and lives of our youth for their ambitions, and not make those disturbing noises in opposition. We chattel should know our place and not trouble ourselves with the judgments of our King and his Lords of Neo-Con.
The constitution is what our king should wish it to be, and we should be pleased we have the freedoms he allows us today, and not risk his displeasure with what remains of them.
Welcome to the Kingdom of America, God Bless Our King, King George the Bush, and his trusted Lords Dick Cheney, Condi Rice, and Donald Rumsfeldt. We are but chattel for their desires, and needs, we should be so pleased to have surrendered our civil liberties, our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness for his righteous leadership.
Death to the democracy of the United States of America, long live the King.
Happy Thoughts;
Dan Grady
HEY!
Did anyone else just get an e-mail from MM?!?!
(I’m still reading it, just had to letcha know!)
HERE it is….It made my day and cleared up a few questions:
Sandy
Season Greetings Geniuses, Philosopher Kings and Queens, Working Class Heroes, Progressive Utopians with no sense of humor and of course you lurking Conservatives,
The dream is over. What can I say?
I’m back in LA with two of my three feral cats trying to integrate with the two cats I have here. It’s live Animal Planet every day in my house. I assume that they’ll eventually get the hang of each or kill each other off. I will try to step in if it looks like nature is taking the latter course.
Thank you all for all your support over the last 22 months or a part of that (if you have no idea what I’m talking about because you never knew I hosted “Morning Sedition” on Air America Radio, then hold out because there will be info for you as well).
Here’s what happening in the next month or so:
ā¢ I’m going to get to know my wife
ā¢ I’m going to buy a car. (I promise I will do the right thing here)
ā¢ I’m going to update my web site. (Give me a break. I’ve been doing morning radio for the last year and half. I have had time for nothing.)
ā¢ If all goes as planned I will have a new show on in the evenings here in LA on KTLK 1150 with Jim Earl and Brendan McDonald by the end of the month. The show will include the work of Kent Jones, Mike Ferucci and Bruce Cherry. There will be new contributors from the talent pool out here and as you know that is an Olympic size pool. We will be providing some separate content for Air America Mornings in NYC and for the web site. We will also be air some time on the weekends in New York.
ā¢ I promise to podcast.
ā¢ I will be updating you as to the progress on the new show as will as live shows wherever they may be as well as TV appearances,
ā¢ My new CD comes out soon. I’ll let you know about that.
ā¢ When the site is re-built I’ll put some kind of blog up there. That will make it easier.
IF ANYONE HAS AN IDEA FOR A SHOW TITLE, SEND IT TO MARC@MARCMARON.COM
This has been a horrendous few months for me. I am emotionally drained and furious about what went down at Air America. Hopefully, I’ll be back on the airwaves soon. Again, thanks to all of you. There was no way the show would have been as great as it was if I didnāt know you all were out there digging it.
Maron
P.S. If all this is meaningless to you and you never listened to the show Iāll turn you on to the new show and we’ll move ahead from there.

[Just deleted my posting of MM’s message, since sbluefox posted it first.]
Still, I am thrilled, and so relieved, I think I might cry!
Wow, that was so great to hear from Marc ! Do you think those of us who streamed Morning Sedition will be able to stream his new show ?
I assume you all got the email from Marc. The proposed show sounds great. I plan to podcast in the mornings if the show is too late for my bed time. Poor Riley seems to be the one getting the shaft. Anyhoozle; I can’t wait.
:banana::fire::banana::razz::grin::banana::fire::smile::lol::fire::banana:
I sent him a title suggestion that I’m sure he won’t take. I suggested “Maronoia.” (I’d been punning that one for a while…)
The recipe I found for today is so big (worth it…) I’ll be most of the day formatting it.
Gypsy, great name! I love it, love it, love it! I’m on the list too, so I just got the message too. Hoping, hoping hoping!!
If the show is on XM, I will HAVE to get it. A nightly show in LA that gets compressed to an hour on the weekend just won’t do it.
A little suggestion, folks: If this DOES come to pass, let’s all make sure to send Jon Sinton a thank-you note…because we all know that this wasn’t Danny the Douchebag’s doing.
As quirky as Sweden is, their social democracy is infinitely better than our business dominated crapshoot capitalist pseudo-democracy–as faar as meeting basic needs. It irks me when I hear people like Hartmann hold up Social Democracy as the ultimate–the best we can do. (I’ll bet he would not stay a syndicated programmer for long if he went further left, though.)

“Maronoia!” What a great name, gypsy! :peace:
My thanks to you all for pointing out that the MS archives are disappearing. I began downloading them Monday night, but there are a few from Nov 2004 that I missed. I’ll be checking for them in the suggested sites.
