Here it’s Wednesday already, and there’s no news about Marc’s new show yet. One Conan O’Brien re-run just aint gonna cut it here.
A quick peek in before I head off to work. Wanted to check my email and see if there was anything bright and shiny waiting for me. No? 🙁
Was pondering my lack of current news by not listening to AAR, of filling my earbuds with achived MS, and while I’m laughing merrily (and having co-workers stare), I’m not keeping up-to-date. This would be the perfect time for Dubya to sneak something by us.
How many AAR shows are “Best of” this week? Anything live? I’ll check out a few Blogs to read, and tune in to Stephanie Miller :40: for a few low-brow laughs.
Oh, here’s something from the WaPo:

Hey Pheoner and Pj! pj, you get up pretty early don’t ya’! Nope, no news yet about Marc’c new show.. I put up my new daily Morning Sedition bit up on my site The Era. It’s the AARP swift boat parody ad….
By the way pj, love and hate the bong emoticon…I love it because I personally love “pot”, hate it because I’m in Japan and hash comes around once in a blue moon….:bong:
Was anyone listening to riley’s continued ‘tribute to the “”best”” of AAR? Of all the ‘best’ of mike malloy that’s what they came up with- a woman completely oblivious?
If anyone out there has malloy’s rant about watching rumsfeld on acid, please post it-
that’s the best of malloy.
Okay, enough riley for today:doh:
Hey atnorton….Haven’t been listening to AAR that much. I’m locked in the archives of Morning Sedition…
I don’t know how they expect good numbers from Riley at 5 to 7?
:fire:
:rofl2:
That’s a funny one eh’, Phoener!
jasonwkinney, I’m just getting the picture when I click on the picture. Shouldn’t I get the MS clip?
John Kerry baaaaaaad
Phoener, No, click where it says “click here”
No, you’re right Phoener, I fucked up. I’ll fix it here soon…
Hey Wandering Seditionists!
Hey Jason-
It’s just a habit that’s hard for me to break. Riley gives a little news at the beginning- that’s about all there is to look forward to. He’s been referring to whatever he’s doing as ‘the ramp’ to AAR morning. It’s a ramp to nowhere. I don’t think dg cares about building an audience in this time slot. It was just too un-pc to fire one of the few personalities of color on AAR.
I don’t know if you catch any of msnbc in germany (is that where you are?) Last night Keith Olberman had a very detailed piece on why John Gibson (on fueux news) was the worst person in the world for the year OVER o’leilly. He made it very personal since gibson and he used to be friends. Olberman does the best job on the tube in catching these guys in their lies.
Hey Phoener, good luck listening to Stephanie Miller. She has a guest host yesterday and today who I tuned out yesterday after 10 minutes (more boring than Springer), and will be in reruns until next week.
Or you can do what I did yesterday, which was tell two or three dumb fart jokes, make some Sam Kinison screaming noises, and sing the Lying Sack of Crap song. I like the show, but I understand why people complain about it being the same old shit every day. Makes me miss MS more than I do already.
CINDY!!! Scratch Bono and the Gateses off the cover of Time magazine. Cindy should be there. :peace:
Oh shit. The AARP one! I’m thinking of the other one! They are both good.
Y’know, if Kerry and other non-Rove-approved candidates would have responded with comedy bits like this one, it would have made the charges look as rediculous as they were. Don’t need no big-budget commercials for that! But then, Kerry was too pompous to counteract them.
Cindy’s call to MS in the last week of the show, really meant something to me. She was on the show almost daily in Aug. MS was very connected to that battle.
Fixed Phoener! Check it out at the Era. Thanks…I thought I had it. atnorton, I saw the clip via crooks and liars. Man, Olberman should be getting freakin’ great ratings! Nope, O’ freakin’ Really? I sit with my outh agape my friend, truly agape! :holla: No, I’m in Japan…evening King Kong…missed you yesterday…
Off to work. Maybe my brain will kick in.
As for Steph, I think Old News from MS is better than Guest Hosts any day. Back to the archives.
jason, you there? Having trouble with links in Safari, again? I am. 😳
With no live MS, I’m trying to expand my evenings.
Hey Kong, no problems with Safari, just with me….trying to figure out my own site problems. By the way, I’ll be posting one bit from Morning Sedition everyday. Check it out. Today is a parody ad, and yesterdays was the last War on Brains…..I downloaded everything from the snotgreensea…
thesnotgreensea is a great place. Thanks for posting bits every day. Those two bits are someofmy favorite. Check out the War on Brains about the DoD. I was downloading the SAME info Lim Earl talks about the night before for a school program.
Good morning, Fellow Bloggerilluminati !!!
I can’t take the Riley for large bits… he sounds DLC, almost Lieberman-like :barf: . Anyway. it’s off to the showers. I’m picturing myself cold and naked, like Bush likes his detainees. Only my reason is to save on my heating bill.

For Christmas, my step-son gave me the DVD of Dick Cavetts’ show’s (3) with John Lennon and Yoko. In the middle of the second show is a short bit with Stan Freburg. Recorded in 1971, it will make you cry when you listen to some ads that Freburg wrote for George Mcgovern to support the ending of the Vietnam War.
The idea that ‘we’ would never let this happen again comes back again and again to slap you in the face as you experience Freburgs’ passion about the killing of innocent civilians, the maiming of innocent children and his sharp satire about the deaths of american soldiers being reduced to an ‘acceptable ‘ level of 38 per week.
“we” will never learn.
Also, catch Yoko’s showing pictures of children being rehabbed missing arms and legs. The government had cut funding- “Imagine” that:omg::omg:
Hey BASCOMBE!! Kong: I looked up the Conan show on the torrent sites, and it seems they aren’t posting the archived shows! Boo! :rant1:
Well, there is always the future! :peace:
MORNING KONG! GREAT MOVIE! :omg:
MORNING JasonW! great picture over at Frapper! :rofl2:
Hey bascombe! Great to see you. Cold showers= AWAKE :omg:

Wasn’t Marc talking about those Cavet shows at one time? or was I :40:
For anyone seeking further irony
Since Marc’s been off the air, I’ve been seeking out more of his passionate energy or the same kind of passionate energy. Check out Bill Hicks, a comedian who died in 1993. He’s got a GREAT rant about how it felt when Bush the first was defeated in 1990. It’s almost like a dream-diary that you can project yourself into about how you’ll feel when we get congress back in 2006 and frog-march these sons-of-bitches into prison.
I think that Marc mentioned once that Hicks was like a god to him and you can see where he influenced marc.
Yeah Kong, Marc often talked of the Dick Cavett (sp?) Show. Speaking of drinking….I’m gonna go out in the cold of night and get my own…:40:
atnorton: Your right, Bill Hicks is great. I searched him out here last year and downloaded alot of his stuff. Marc never said Bill was a god, but somewhat of a friend that he was in the scene with at around the same time. Marc talked about the whole JFK assasination thing, and Hicks was real into that as well was Marc. Hicks was real into the Koresh thing in Texas before he died….
alright all…out for a liberal :40:

DannyGukkertGoldberg had no problem getting rid of a lesbian and a black from ‘unfiltered’, he kept Mark Riley because Riley sounds DLC and is boring enough to remind him of IMUS, whom DickheadGolddigger, really covets. :barf:

Yes, Marc interviewed Cavett on MS and played a controversial interview(Lennon?). They discussed what Cavett would do with his guests and more. A great moment in MS history!
:fire: :nixon: :fire:
Bascombe
But the lesbian got her own show:???: Does this mean that if marc got fat, and became a black lesbian that he’d have his own show:rofl2:
I was never very impressed with Riley’s politics. He does seem to be somewhat to far to the middle. I don’t think he ever admitted that the 2004 election got stolen in Ohio either. and .. by himself hes is so boooorrrrriiiinnnngg. I hope Danny gets gangrene in that hole he blew in his foot.
People keep coming up with this 51% of the vote and that people on the far left can’t win elections. They seem to forget that only 60 something percent of the registered voters voted in 2004. One has to wonder what would attract the other 30 percent. Giving people a choice between a rich green jackass and a rich brown jackass doesn’t win elections either. The biggest problem is getting the campaigns financed. I think if they can get the word out there someone on the far left could win easily.
Fred opinion polls (fairly worded) favor the left.
Example: Do you favor ID taught in schools?
vs.
Example: Do you favor ID taught in Science class?
Are the results different? Of course!
Good Morning.
At the concervative TV station near my parents.
First poll: yes 70% no 30% (after three days)
Second poll: yes 50% no 50% (after one day, poll yanked)
Hi kristapea! How’s the desert?
The right seems to rig the system so that left is right and right is left and the Dem politicians never seem to notice or are part of the rigging. We need to get rid of this corporate financing of elections..or.. perhaps get rid of those who do the financing so that all points of view can be heard.
I was noticing last night that there are several new left of center talkers on radio and/or net radio on Whiterose. AAR is getting competition. Most of them are on at night too. I would think most of the left sided audience would benefit more from evening programs because they hopefully work during the day time.
Marc’s going to be on at night, right?
Morning:omg:
Hi, nikirose :sdavid:
It’s raining like heck in Portland. Must paint for a Friday show. Yippee:nixon:
It’s that radical leftist NickiRose..
I hope that when AAR puts things back together in the New year things improve. Riley by himself is not working for me.
Yeah Nicki you can go down to the river and help Tom bail water .. hazards of living on a house boat in the rain I guess.
Rain is here in Shintien tonight. Hope you can stay dry.
Nicki, Glad to see the Nixion fingers are back for you.
881 = ba ba yi = bye bye
Yeah! I heard Hartmann mention a leak in his roof. He had a dream about it. Then he started talking about Munich,WWl, Iran, Kurds. He was all over the place. Germany, too.
Yeah! Those Nixon fingers come in handy.:nixon:
Circulate those Morning Sedition tapes.:peace:
We have these two GMD 624 (think of the guts of a diesel road locomotive sitting on a concrete floor) based 2 megawatt emergency generators that I managed to inherit when they didn’t start up automatically ( at all) during a long power failure and two tons of silicon had to go back to the foundry. We are supposed to start them once a month so yesterday I cranked them both up for their first run in six months or so and spent the morning gassing the neighbors with huge clouds of blue diesel exhaust. Now… today we have the engine water preheaters working again so hopefully we won’t make the evening news again. Hey…what could be more fun to do during your holliday vacation.
Hi everyone!
Im running out but have a question….has anyone noticed that there are no podcasts of this Riley crap?
They are also not giving podcasts of any of the shows, even those with guest hosts!
Is that what they normally do during vacation?
This Riley show is CRAP!! I feel bad but I cant listen to him alone. I might as well listen to Curtis and Kuby…at least they have some stupid banter going on. He seems to be very dumbed down and he often doesnt have the depth of research that I’m used to on AAR…
Im sure I will listen to Rachel but AAR has lost me for 5-7AM and probably most of the rest of the time except for Marc’s new show…which will hopefully be long enough to somewhat fill the Springer slot during my drive around time.
This is horrible! I feel like Ive lost a good friend!
That Olberman show was SO great last night. I wish they did a full podcast. They do have a little one with oe of the segments…will have to see what it is. I wonder if they will re-run that.
I have to get TiVo…If anyone taped that please let me know!
Have a great day everyone…I will check back in a few hours after errands…

Checking in from Chicago. Last day here. I hope you all had a safe holiday. I wish there was more news about Marc’s new show.
Taking back congress in 06 and an impeachment of Bush shortly thereafter is my fondest hope. That along with the termination of the one-terminator, the speedy conviction of Tom Delay, the enron boys enjoying the confines of a federal prison for the forseeable future and Abrahamoff snitching on a slew of filthy congressmen. Hope springs eternal.
Fitzmas should come many times this year.

Hey, artnorton, that piece on Olbermann was absolutely brilliant, wasn’t it? He was NOT joking at all about saying Gibson should be fired or resign. Every day I genuflect more and more at the Altar of Keith Olbermann. The problem is that I miss the reruns of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report when I watch him.
Try not to get too disappointed, folks, about not hearing about Marc’s new show. Didn’t Jon Sinton say that an announcement would be made after the holidays? AAR is pretty much just treading water this week anyway.
(I, however, LOVED the bit with Mike Malloy and the icepick. Mr. Brilliant had told me about it and I missed it the first time.)
As for me, I’m dealing with my withdrawal from my Morning Hours of Pain and Rage And Funny with Marc ‘n’ Mark by listening to a lot of Green Day. It really does help. Try it.:rant1::mad::fustrate:
Must go work in the studio. Morning [Sedition Lives!] all.

Aaagh! I can’t take the dearth of information. Now that MS is gone, I find I can’t find anything else I can stand to listen to, so I’m just going horrendously uninformed now.
Anyone have any suggestions? Any current, funny shows I can podcast? I’d hate to have to resort to National Propaganda of Republicans (NPR).
Malloy and the icepick. Is that the one where Malloy has the misfortune of some drone to call in who goes on and on about some pablum, and then Malloy interrupts him/her to say, “hold on, let me get an icepick”. He then proceeds to painfully stab himself in the hand with the icepick to regain consciousness. A variation of this has him poring a pot of boiling water on his crotch.
All the while, the clueless caller keeps droning on and on, not understanding Malloy’s sarcasm.
sometimes i want to drown kittens this normally happens when i have nothing better to do ill be all bored and ill be like hey i wish there was a kitten around for me to drown wouldnt it be great if i could drown a kiten hmmmm im bored and i have nothing better to do i wonder if i can find a kitten? did you know that every time you listen to right wing radio god kills a kitten at least that is what malloys wife said i trust her ok well im gonna drown a kitten since glenn beck is on and he is amusing if you can get past the right wing wacko thing yeah i think im going to end up eventually back in my radio habit i had before air america existed if they keep cancelling good shows the only one i look forward to anymore is malloy ok well this is far too long and ranty but uh yeah i go away now
:40::fire::40:
Who has the best voice in radio? Could that be Kathy, Mike’s wife and producer of the Malloy show?
Really?
No, not really. But that’s what a new ad campaign from Move America Forward is claiming.
I guess if the truth isn’t on your side, you should just make shit up. Somehow, I don’t think Jesus would approve of this. :jesus:
Hey KK, the weather is fucking GORGEOUS here today! 72 degrees and sunny! I have totally forgotten about summer.
Is it just me, or are the episodes slowly disappearing from the Morning Sedition Archives on Air America Place? I had been listening to the post-2004 election epidsodes and now the earliest one is May 18, 2004, then jumps from November 19, 2004, to the present.
If they’re being moved, where are they going? If they’re disappearing, why is that?
Or do we just assume the worst about everything from everyone? Not that I’m paranoid or anything…
:paranoid:
Okay, so I have started a petition to show that there is support for progressive radio in Arizona here
http://www.petitiononline.com/ANPRP/petition.html
Hello all,
As of Jan 30, 2006 KXXT, Air AMerica Radio will not be broadcasting progressive talk anymore. Apparently the station was bought by a Christian group who does not intend to continue Air America or progressive talk programming any longer. I have started this petition and am circuluating it to show that there is plenty of support for progressive radio here in the Valley and Arizona. Hopefully, your show of support will make the task of finding another frequency for progressive radio much easier with little or no interruption in broadcasting. This will be very important if we are to take back a couple of seats in the Senate and Congress in 2006. If you are for free speech and truth, please sign this petition and pass it along to your friends and family. Thank You!
Thanks PJ for inspiring me to do this. Anyone interested in signing please do so and pass it along. Even if you are just passing through Arizona you should support this so you have something to listen to besides Limpprick and Hannity when passing through.:peace:
MS Archves
Yes, the archived shows are dwindling. This is in order to save space.
From Bob (the official AAR archivist over at AAP)
For those who don’t know, AAR will be instituting a premium podcasting service in the next few weeks. This means that access to podcasts and archives will be by paid subscription only (presumably there’ll be some other “value-added” stuff as well).
Bob is working on getting the full MS archive (including the “lost” shows from April and May 2004) available from AAR for the subscription service.
You can check out this thread, and this one too, at AAP for more information.
My guess (and, really, I have nothing to base this on) is that any new show of Marc’s will be part of this premium subscription (unless he or KTLK make different arrangements), and anyone who doesn’t get KTLK or another affiliate that will (hopefully) be picking up Marc’s show (I hope it doesn better in syndication than all the other AAR shows combined, personally) will have to either make do with a weekend compilation (ala Hartmann) streaming or subscribe to get the podcasts. Prices aren’t set, but Bob has said from what he’s seen they’ll be fair.
Bob has done a great job setting up AAP, and it has been free. Although AAR began subsidizing it w/o charging, the free ride is coming to an end. It costs a lot of $ for bandwidth, and as long as the price is reasonable, I think it’s not too much to pay for commercial-free podcasts of the shows (assuming there are shows that you still feel are worth paying for). Either way, Bob deserves a great deal of thanks. And, as he says, you can always sign up for a month and download any missing shows, and then walk away.
I wouldn’t have batted an eye at paying if MS was still on the air. They’ll have to give Marc a substantial show to get me to sign up now.
Forgive me for sounding ignorant, but what is the difference between these podcast files and an MP3? Some files I open and get an option for Saving, and others just start playing (like the Morning Sedition files.) How does all that work?
And thank you for the future subscription info. I’ll be happy to pay for Perpetual Maron!
Well, most podcasts (audio, anyway) are mp3 files. I suppose they could be some different file format (for instance, some of the AAR stuff can be found in ogg vorbis, which is an open source audio encoding technology; mp3 isn’t open source, and any encoder you use to create an mp3 file will have had to include a licensing fee).
The way files behave when you click on them is generally dependent on how your web browser is configured. The easiest way to save a file is to right-click (or control-click – command-click with a Mac, I think) and select “save target as” or “save link as” depending on your browser.
Or, better yet, get something like ipodder or doppler, and then go to sites like Podcast Alley and subscribe to podcasts that look interesting, and schedule them to be automatically downloaded. Then they’re just magically there for you. You could also use iTunes, I guess, but personally I don’t care for it. Apple has a great marketing scheme that makes it seems like it’s so much “easier” to use their stuff, but I don’t really think it is – and you’re generally stuck with whatever they want you to have. Of course that’s just my humble opinion.
:priest: i miss milf cardinal milfington
Riley reminds someone of Imus? You’re kidding, right? Riley is way too uptight to be like Imus.
I heard Franken on NPR yesterday and he has just as little radio personality there as he does on his own show. Honestly, I think Danny-pants 👿 has a clue what works in radio. I think his problem is that he was told (or he decided on his own) to kiss centrist Dem ass and he figures the way to do it is to make sure no one ever says a single rude word about them.
The recipes are slowing down due to the holidays. I have to make too many of them to want to type them, too.
As for me, I’m dealing with my withdrawal from my Morning Hours of Pain and Rage And Funny with Marc ‘n’ Mark by listening to a lot of Green Day. It really does help. Try it.

Also Late Registration by Kanye West. Got it for Christmas :santacool: , played it all the way through for the first time today and was BLOWN FUCKING AWAY. And to think I could have listened to a Springer rerun.
Kanye is only partly right about George Bush not caring about black people. There are lots of other people he doesn’t care about once they age out of being either a stem cell or a fetus.

Thanks for the update on old show files, pj. You know, there used to be an appeal for $ by Bob to keep costs down. But I never found an address. Hope this service is user friendly.

As for past Morning Sedition shows: People here have already downloaded them–thus rendering safe from the whims of the AAR archivist–haven’t they? Oh, well, I am sure we’ll be alright. How does the WhiteRose society do it?
My computer is slow as molasses syrup today.

I’m having horrendous Maron withdrawal. I’ve been looking at the various archive sites around the web, and I can’t find the Dream Diaries anywhere…
Oh man, I always enjoyed the comedy, but it was the naked Maron bits that elevated the show to something sublime, Future Marc was good, but the Dream Diaries were breathtaking. Hearing one would set me up all day. Please tell me someone is going to archive them for the addicts out here.
MS Archive
Just as a reminder, I downloaded all of the MS shows that were at AAP and put them online at http://www.seditionparty.org.
I’m considering putting each week in a ZIP archive for easier download – any thoughts on that? Wouldn’t be smaller (mp3’s have a lot of compression already), but would be easier for folks to grab.
Bill Lives! :billcat:
Hi Jeany, If you go to http://www.thesnotgreensea.com/ it looks like Patrick has pretty much all of the bits covered, just not downloaded yet. I am hoping he gets all of the Dream Diaries also, those early ones are what captured me. He was doing them every day back then. When you see the list of bits on The Snotgreen sea you will truly be amazed at what MS accomplished and how hard they must have worked.
Ohhhhh, I’d missed that, Methaz! I’m checking your archive in another window.
It would be interesting to take these mp3 files and bookmark them, and to produce a searchable index. If you look at these program archives as a body of work, the searchable index is a logical step. As to the bookmarks, I use iTunes as my podcast player, and it “reads” segment annotations. The only podcast I’m familiar with that uses bookmarks is the iTunes New Music Tuesday file; if you haven’t seen it, iTunes is free.
Ta, Kristapea — I’ve been to the lovely SnotGreen, and there’s no actual archive, just the note that Dream Diaries was a regular bit. Of course, it will take time.
Does anyone know when Sue Ellicott left? I listened last night to the May 18, 2004 program, and I can’t believe what dead weight she was. Tits on a boar, that’s how useless she was… That makes me want to say something about Pops Riley, I hope he’s being well compensated for being the only warm body in the building, and honestly, I think it’s a mark of disrespect that he’s on there doing what is essentially an infomercial for the network and convincing all of us that he’s boring without Maron.
I’ve been thinking a lot about how many different ways they could have gone with the mornings, like dividing the hour between Rachel and Morning Sedition, keeping the comedy/commentary and opening a window on Rachel’s brilliant take on the news. Goldberg is ‘way too bolted into the box to do something creative and innovative like that.
:jesus:(AliG) Just checking in. Must do marathon paint session.
:sdavid::sdavid::sdavid::sdavid:
Forget not!:menorah:
Sue left sometime in June of 04. Marc and her didn’t get along too well either. There was a lot of tension between them and not the good kind. Poor Sue.
Jeany- I just got home … was listening to the podcast of Riley in the car…and was also struck that he is the host for this commercial of moments in the year at AAR. The thing is that, as usual, he seems really disconnected from what he is introducing…and its as if he is some sorta puppet they are using.
I have felt that he was underprepared for most of what went on last week and that he doesnt care much for details, numbers and statistics…and that he lacks smooth delivery much of the time or a quick comeback…
When he introduces something that Maron did you can see the difference.
I want to be careful not to hate his show just because Maron isnt there, but to be clear on what is happening there. Its like a vast garbage can of crap. I couldnt be more turned off to what they are doign and I feel like the powers at AAR dont give a shit about the loyal listeners. We are too smart and they want to move to the center and dumb down rather than break ground and talk to us like we are grownups.
So, I will wait for Maron’s announcement, Ill listen to Rachel, and hopefully there will be an answer to the burnign questions such as, does Al really think he doesnt need a co-host? and how can they have a jeaneane Garafalo show without jeaneane herself appearing much at all?…oh and, what is the deal with Randi Rhodes? grating and repetitive!…but, this is all just really sad…and Im moving on to other podcasts and spending more time on reading about the upcoming fun with indictments and midterms…I will find other networks somehow and fill the time.
I miss the funny.
The Dunkin Donuts guy died this week and I was going over what the MS grief correspondent would have reported…
