Well, this should do it for 2005. For some of you folks, it’ll be 2006 in just a few hours. I guess the rest of us will just have to try to catch up! :alc:
Of course, at our house, New Year’s Eve means just one thing: the Twilight Zone Marathon on the SciFi channel (which started about a half hour ago, and goes on for 45 hours). Whatever it is you do to ring in the new year, do it safely. There aren’t enough of us out there as it is; we don’t want to lose anybody.
Mornin’ pj and all on the U.S. side of things, evening kong, tom t,gaijinda, kink kong, mjk?……Happy New years to everyone!! :40:
By the way pj, upon your request I sent an email to Dave from the atheist soldier and he replied……this is what I wrote and then his reply

Hey buddy! What’s up?:jesus:
Hi Nicki! How are the paintings coming?
I also added to my site the last Sammy the Stem Cell episode….check it out.. The Era
The paintings are hanging in Lydia’s house. Good show. I need to paint some more for the next show.:jesus:
I am streaming AAR. The site says that Morning Sedition is coming up next. We’ll see. (Hey. I like Riley. Seriously. But nothing can replace Morning Sedition. Circulate those tapes!:nixon:)
Kristapea. I have made an Arizona connection. Person is interested in helping the campaign.:peace::jesus:
Tyger Thom!:omg: AAR is shooting a repeat of Hartmann’s national show. (My friend will be interviewed on his local show, Tuesday.)
Circulate those tapes.:nixon:
just wanted to check in and say HAPPY 2006! to everyone.
and to pj – thanks again for morning seditionists, the petition, the map, the snotgreen sea, for letting me post my “tune” on this site…(the list goes on).
stay warm everyone. stay safe.
Happy New Year’s Eve eve’ or morn’.
Happy New Years Eve everyone.
Last night I listened to Bob Kincaid on the Whiterose stream. He had someone who I think was named Joe Delvecchio on his program. Joe wasn’t very comforting as to the Dems taking back any house in Congress in 2006. I had never heard of him.. has anyone else .. how is he qualified to spew his drivel on a liberal talk show ??.
The 101 Building has a fireworks show that I’m off to. See you later!
Good New Years Eve Day to everyone! I think we need a coffee cup smiley. Maybe we should just communicate in smileys. Let’s conserve words!:doh:
Hey Nicki, it just occured to me that maybe you know Leslie Englert? She doesn’t live there anymore but she’s a painter and she is from Phoenix but lived there during 2001 and ’02 or something. There’s some kind Phoenix/Portland connection. It seems like a lot of people from here move up there to get the fuck out of the heat and people from Portland come down here to dry out. I guess because Phoenis/Portland are opposites in many ways.
Good Morning and Happy New Year everyone-
Ive been puttering round and hoping it will snow…trying to figure if I should run down to the city with my son and upgrade Mom’s computer (my x-mas present to her) or avoid the crowd. They are apparently already gathering in Times Square right now! The scary thing is that the police have those pens set up and you cant leave once youre in. You also cant bring any containers in…so if you have to eat, drink or…um…pee. I can never understand why anyone who is not 17 years old would want to be penned in like cattle surrounded by police in full military gear…ugh!
I think Im talking myself out of going anywhere near that insanity…but it may be my last free-ish day for a while.
Anyhoo-
Igot an email from this guy who wants to interview my Granddad for his blog and I got very interested in reading said blog. He has an interview with this media futurist, Rushkoff, that I find very interesting
http://www.radiomarketingnexus.com/2005/12/how_to_make_rad.html
or
http://tinyurl.com/ckewv
and that led me to Rushkoff’s site which is worth checking out too.
http://www.rushkoff.com/index.html
I was wondering what people here thought of this…or is it all just hopes and dreams? I hope that maybe there will be less of a corporate culture in the future…or in this next little while.
Back to hauling firewood and trying to move the damned lighted deer around….
Melina
Hey Melina,
Thanks for posting that link, interesting and timely for me. You might want to consider emailing that to Marc, I felt like Marc has already done what Rushkoff was talking about towards the end there. About building a community around a radio program based on similar interests and passions.
That’s the cool thing about the internet that I am realizing. I don’t HAVE to appeal to a wide audience anymore. The internet makes it possible to find the audience you appeal to all over the world. The power of communicating to the world is in the common persons own hands now! Li’l ole me can produce a radio show or start an online magazine right out of my shotgun shack anymore.
I just gotta figure out how to work this thing!
Hey Jason, glad you could e-mail Dave. Once when Paul Reikoff and the guy from GNN (can’t think of his name at the moment) were doing Malloy’s show, the GNN guy played a piece where he went around asking people if they supported the troops. “Oh, yeah, sure, absolutely,” they all said. Then he asked them, “what do you do, exactly, to support them” they didn’t have any answer.
So, this is a chance to do a little something. As Dave writes,
The address again is:

the names are:

and David Rosecrans.
Tell ’em you’re a friend of Dave’s.
Happy New Years Eve, Blog Warriors!:fire:
Melina, interesting reading. Seems I read a while back about the internet being a vehicle for finding “your tribe” on a global scale. That follows your thinking, I believe, Kristapea. MS was ahead of its time…or at least ahead of those without vision like danny goldgrinch. It truly brought a global community together.
Hat tip to PJ for the blog.
Have a safe day/night and good cheer to all!
If this seems like along year, it was. This is the first year in seven years that a leap second has been required to keep things in sync. So how are you guys planning on using your extra second this evening?
If you haven’t already done so, you only have until midnight to vote for the Ultimate Wingnut of the Year. Even with only five finalists (Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, John Hindraker, Dr. Professor Mike Adams, and Pastor J. Grant Swank, Jr) to choose from, it’s still a tough choice.
If you were the commie pinko liberal media like CNN, what would you do with a conservative talking head, former Secretary of Education, Drug Czar, and upstanding moral figure (setting aside the compulsive gambling stuff) who said that aborting “every black baby in this country” would reduce the crime rate?
Why, you’d give him a job, wouldn’t you?
The year of the smear is almost here
In 2006 the dems will get slimmed royally by the M$M. CNN is already reporting that support of the Rethug Congress people is up while the support for the Dem congress people is down.. Please explain how this is possible.
Can’t you just wait until the house/senate elections get started ??
Another dispatch from Dave in Iraq:
It’s about time these guys got to hear a little something from the other side – that would be those of us who give a shit about them, and want them back here in one piece. Let’s not let the freepers take it away.

Military waste under fire
$1 trillion missing — Bush plan targets Pentagon accounting

The War On Waste
LOS ANGELES, Jan. 29, 2002
“How do we know we need $48 billion since we don’t know what we’re spending and what we’re buying?”
Retired Vice Admiral Jack Shanahan
(CBS) On Sept. 10, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld declared war. Not on foreign terrorists, “the adversary’s closer to home. It’s the Pentagon bureaucracy,” he said.
He said money wasted by the military poses a serious threat.
“In fact, it could be said it’s a matter of life and death,” he said.
Rumsfeld promised change but the next day – Sept. 11– the world changed and in the rush to fund the war on terrorism, the war on waste seems to have been forgotten.
Just last week President Bush announced, “my 2003 budget calls for more than $48 billion in new defense spending.”
More money for the Pentagon, CBS News Correspondent Vince Gonzales reports, while its own auditors admit the military cannot account for 25 percent of what it spends.
“According to some estimates we cannot track $2.3 trillion in transactions,” Rumsfeld admitted.
—————–
Can you imagine what would have happened if a democratic admin had “lost” 2.4 trillion dollars of the rethugs money ??
Good Morning:
Out on the left coast it is raining buckets and gusty winds to 40 mph. It’s a nice day to be inside, however, it is a serious damper to my two consecutive days of running. I’ve always got the diet streak going but a new years eve party tonight will likely test that resolve as well. I’ll try to keep Tom Waits’ words in my mind as I venture out. “A little rain never hurt no one.”
:fire::pent::yinyang::peace::sheep::sheep::sheep::billcat:
Here’s my version of that, “A little rain never hurt anyone ‘cept the Wicked Wicth of the West”
I’m meeeeeeelllttiing!
Happy new year to all you seditionists. May the new year see the return of Marc, The Milfingtons, Sammy the Reanimated Stem Cell, Pandejo the Revolutionary, and of course our beloved Lawton Smalls to the airwaves.
:40:
:nixon: Peace out till tomorrow.
:jesus: Checking in.:omg:
Krista P. Leslie Englert seems to be associated with the Art Periodical “2 Gyrlz Quarterly”. I am sure, though, that I am somehow acquainted with her, and, or her art. Anyway…:peace:
Circulate those tapes.:nixon:
Yes. Before I forget: “iyi Yeni YlL Kutlu Olsun!”:rabbi::jesus::cake::nixon:
Don’t neglect the tapes.:peace:

Say what you will about Ann Coulter, but she’s a lot easier to search for. :omg:
Happy New Year, everyone! Just think, we’re another year closer to Bush and Cheney’s downfall.
Plus 2006 is the year Marc Maron returns to the airwaves!
:banana::banana::banana:
Enjoy the festivities tonight, but :40: responsibly. We want everyone back! :alc:
The guys name is Joseph Vecchio.. He has a streaming program through whiterose and a web site at.. http://cupojoe.blogspot.com/ He appears to be a liberal want to be of some significance. I just didn’t like his attitude. If any one listening was thinking about starting rethug reduction before we see if the election is stolen again his comments would have certainly caused that operation to commence. As it was I was thinking more about Joe reduction after I heard him dribbling his tripe on the floor.

Who Are We to Complain?
By ALEXANDER COCKBURN
Don’t worry. Just a few pages, to give you some flavors from the recent past.
Who are we to complain? It was a bad year for the Empire and not just in Iraq. A half century after Fidel Castro stayed in Harlem, Hugo Chavez of Venezuela came to the Bronx and promised cheap home heating oil from Citgo so the poor could keep warm this winter. He kept his promise. A month later Evo Morales swept to victory in Bolivia. From London the world heard Harold Pinter, Nobel Laureate, broadcast the most savage denunciation of Empire heard since the words Tacitus put in the mouth of Calgacus .
It wasa bad year for George Bush, humiliated in Buenos Aires, scorned at home, It was a bad year for Tony Blair, his terror laws put to flight. It was a bad year for the Democrats, with only a handful, like Murtha, McKinney, Serrano, and a few others to salvage the party’s honor in Congress.
It was a bad year too for the corporate press. The New York Times saw Judy Miller turn from martyr to millstone. The Washington Post learned two years late what Bob Woodward really knew. Ad revenues and circulation figures plunged. The mass circulation, ad-based printed newspaper which arrived in the latter part of the nineteenth century, is heading, feet first, into the crypt.
January 1… http://www.counterpunch.org
bye now.

I think I’ll wear my jester hat to the festivities tonight.:40:
Extra second tonight at midnight. Steve Martin thinks it a liberal plot. Click through.

Okay, I’ll pause for a second before I sing Auld Lang Syne.:alc:
Happy New Year!:billcat:
While watching the TZ marathon and surfing the web, I came across a fan site for “The New Twilight Zone” (yeah, I’m a geek). The show is kind of beside the point, but the following paragraph caught my attention. Does it remind you of anything?
If that isn’t a perfect description of DG and AAR, I don’t know what is.
Damn, my beer’s empty again. How the hell does that keep happening?
May 2006 be THE YEAR for Marc Maron and Jim Earl and the rest of the ex-MS gang, as they begin the quest for the best radio programme in history.
May 2006 be the year that We the People, in order to form a more perfect Union, take to the streets in very large numbers to save the Republic from the criminals –of both parties–in the White House and in the Congress.
May 2006 find you every one, warm, safe and dry.

I think, in a democracy with free speech that anyone is qualified to speak to the dismal state the democtraic party is in. We aren’t winning based on our merit right now- we’re winning based on the implosion of the republicans. That is a tenuous place to be. What are our values? What is our vision? Where do we hope to take the country? How can we instill Hope? Have you heard anyone answer this? I haven’t. Joe tells it like he sees it. I too heard him on Bob Kincaid and You too, my friend, can call and give your view of what the state of the party is in. We have a lot of work to do. A tremendous amount of work. So, let’s address, objectively, our strengths and weaknesses and get it together or we’ll find ourselves losing even more seats.
