You’re god-damn right!! What a freakin’ disaster this is! Air America hasn’t even updated their f’n website! It says Rachel Maddow is on, and Morning Sedition is next! What the fuck? Didn’t they have like two weeks to be prepared for this? I’ve been listening and it sucks!! They had a reporter who comes on and reads the sports news….and it fumbled…sounds like a new show starting up….
Riley was asking about Dave and said he had a new name for him….no more “Little Goliath”, pretty fuckin’ good Riley!
Fuck it Fuck it! Fuck Goldberg!
I have one of Marc’s dream Diaries up on my site as a dedication to this train wreck “Air America Mornings!” :fire:
This show isn’t bad. Kent Jones is in his regular guise. Vigilance!:sheep:
I still don’t understand why Morning Sedition was cancelled. Perhaps, as someone stated earlier,it was because the show was too sophisticated for the narrow-minded execs. Much like the situation in the 1970s, when the television shows Night Gallery and The New Twilight Zone were cancelled despite high ratings.
Today I got a late present- The Indiana Jones Trilogy on DVD. If MS were on I’d listen to that first and then watch Raiders. I’ve given Mark half an hour. He gets one more comercial break. (My guess is it’ll be movie time after that.) 🙁
CDs. Tapes. Same principle. In fact, the same damned thing. Keep the show alive through circulation of past shows and highlight bits. Generate interest, encourage the people to bring the show back, bigger and better, with or without AAR. :nixon:
although i am not a regular blogger, i am so glad the blog is here as it is so good to hear people’s comments. i couldn’t even last five minutes with rachel’s show, she sounded shrill and nervous…it was awful. immediately put on a old show to cheer me up, although she did say that it looked like marc’s new show was going to happen. i will then podcast it and listen to that in the morning, hang in there fellow seditionists….
Jason, Jason, Jason. Talking about me behind my back, I see. 😀 Was Santa good to you? He brought me some good times with some old friends with a hint of snow.
DaRev was an early MS blogger from even before we had to register. Thought I could strike up a conversation with him and find out he was doing after the move.
Rachel is not that bad specially with Kent around. The fact is that she is a complete news junkie. But trying to do a two hour show with just news @ the speed of Rachel is a bit of a stretch. She is trying to do some new bits but all of them are related to current news. She will be doing some guest bits but some Maron comedy will be helpful , though Riley is the one who is in desperate need of Maron now . Perhaps Rachel could try to go a bit slower than what she used to usually be while doing the 1 hour slot such that she does not run out of news .
But the best thing is that Rachel and Kent did talk about things going well with Marc and looks like he along with Brendan will have his own show :nixon:. Which again brings us to the question what happens to Riley without Brendan.
I think what motivates DG is money. Money for himself and his shareholders (LA Weekly). I have this feeling that he could care less about Air America Mornings. That it is just a brief period before he brings on people like Stephanie Miller and Ed Shultz. I don’t think the CEO of Democracy Radio, Tom
Athans, would have signed on with AAR (in charge of syndication and developing new programs) to premiere Mark and Rachel.
Good Morning, or maybe I should just say Boring Morning instead. You know, I really think that 2 people discussing the issues is more interesting than one person reading the news. WTF was Danny thinking! I’m still shocked. So, what else is there to listen to this time of morning?
Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz are not part of Air America. See how confusing this new model is? Because the shows are mixed on all the affiliates people are confused as to who is on what network.
Listening to WLIB…i like Springer more than I thought I would but
it was very unfortunate that his first show following the first morning of Mark and Rachel is about transgenders…reminds you of his stupid TV show, and with all this news to digest, why the fuck isn’t Springer addressing any of it?
If the news is so goddam important, why is Golderg’s boy :rant1: Springer using none of it?
Good morning (although it’s almost not morning anymore) and Happy New Year to all.
I have the day off today, and did not feel sufficiently motivated to get up on my own time to listen to Pops and Rachel. Sounds like I made the right call. Will check them out tomorrow when I return to the rat race.:crap:
A quick reminder that Jack Abramoff is scheduled to start singing tomorrow. Who knows how many in Congress will be stained by association? Stay tuned. Not to mention Fitzmas, round 2, coming up shortly.
Happy New Year everyone.
I hope you all had a fun and safe one!
Me? I was at home watching the ball drop on TV and engrossed in A&E’s marathon of 24 (which they cut off in the middle so now I have to rent the last 12 hours!)
Thank God that awful year is over…but Im really missing my MS fix and even listening to old shows just doesnt make it much better because what DG has done to AAR mornings is just inexcusable!
I really like Rachel but I prefer her with a co-host. I’m sure she will be using Kent more and more as she does better in a longer format with a co-host. I think she is the strongest person on AAR right now…and a rising star…so hopefully she will take over the Riley slot- Sorry but the show sucks and poor Riley must know it….how could he not?
Ive been ruminating alot on the media and its role in the despicable state that our country is in…how maybe they are waking up a bit and seeing the quick movement of people away from their programming and into self controlled programming where you can pick and choose what you want to see or hear.
I really want to see the media agressively report and to that end I specifically go after the particular shows that do this…too bad that on TV the most agressive reporting you find is the Daily Show!! The network news is so over…
After reading alot of Rushkoff’s page and that media interview that I linked to the other day, I can see that there are people in the media with the same ideas and who see the rising tide.
So, what is DG’s excuse? How can he possibly take AAR and try to make it into another network that is directed to the lowest common denominator? Its the board and the stockholders and all of them too!!…and I find it morally reprehensible to take one of the only real outlets for the left and to lower it. This is the model where you dont expect much of the audience…and I believe that it is destined to fail in some way. I guess its failing in programming already and that will effect the bottom line.
I did alot of writing over the weekend about how all of the issues floating around politically are moral issues and how the Dems make a mistake of not grabbing onto that. I think that the democratic party has to start framing every issue as being moral…and point out the immorality of things like accepting a tax cut when people are suffering.
I also see this media thing and what the board of AAR is doing as immoral. I understand that its a business and that there is tinkering going on in radio all the time but this is some bold move downwards and it means something….
AAR is a station full of reporters who actually do research. Al Franken checks every fact like hell, so like him or hate him, as least he is telling us accurate information!
Oh well….I guess I need the funny….
Im going to podcast something funny in the car…
am watching Steven Colbert on tape now from a few weeks ago…that is the future!
I am so glad that the holiday schedule is over so I can piece things back together as far as my information gathering.
Have a great day!! Ill check back later on.
I hope Abramoff has made a deal that takes down a lot of people – including my Bush-toadie Congressman. Beyond that, I hope it reaches into the White House. Even if it doesn’t take Bush down, I hope the corruption disgusts voters enough to take the House and Senate away from the Republicans.
I thought that dude who came over from Democracy Radio had the responsibility for digital media, including web presence, blogs, streaming and podcasting. So far, he’s sucking, because streaming has been in place since day 1 and Bob at AAPlace handles archives and podcasts. The websites suck except for those controlled by the individual shows, like Randi, Malloy, and Majority Report. Oh, and Ring of Fire has a great website.
Hey, the NPR hourly news carried a story this morning about two tax cuts that go into effect today, that they only benefit 4% of all households, and cited a liberal think tank as the source. Shifting winds? They’ve been hammered for their heavy reliance on conservative think tanks.
Yeah, well, Marc’s e-mail said “if all goes well,” so I wouldn’t count on anything until there’s an official announcement.
I’m also glad to hear that the topic of Maron isn’t verboten, and I was encouraged to see somebody from AAR poking around here this morning (Kent, perhaps?). This mornign was the the first I’ve been able to bring myself to listen to AAR. It would have been nice if MS or Rachel could have taken the Springer time slot; that would have been a great morning combination.
Actually, I slept through this morning’s shows. Since I didn’t have to work today, I’m catching up – besides not sleeping until 6 AM yesterday, my rhythm is all off. I might check out Rachel tomorrow, but I definitely won’t be setting my alarm for 5 AM. Sorry, Riley, I do like what you do, but without the funny, I won’t be going out of my way to listen.
Morning all! (Yeah, it’s still morning on the West coast.)
Did I have a brain fade or did KPOJ lose signal shortly after Mark’s extended sports coverage this morning? Granted that being in a snuggly warm bed, exhausted, and not a sports fan might lead to the dreaded “sleep” but I recall poking at the radio to figure out why it was silent before turning it off and rolling over.
And, yeah, not updating the web presence is a slap at both the talent and staff as well as the listeners. And Al’s “briefs” is not an enticement for me. A clever bit, but I doubt that even a Republican joe/jane sixpack will play along.
PJ, that’s really interesting that someone from AAR was here, on the site. I like to imagine that some people in that messed up organization are a little nervous about what will happen to their (previously growing)morning audience.
I had a block this morning. didn’t turn on the radio at all. finally, I turned it on after 11am, heard lame stephanie miller reruns, and turned it off again almost immediately.
sad to say, but I prefer silence these days, because nothing can begin to compare to waking up to The Funny.
riley seems rushed and pressured. if he did the morning show at his own speed, which is much slower, the show would probably be enjoyable.
i think someone has told him to ratchet up the speed.
if he continues to try to perform at someone else’s speed, his show is a gonner.
rachel’s show moves at her own natural rhythm, which is super fast. the show sounds fine. maximum amount of kent jones on her show is wonderful. i’m relieved that her show will work.
i’m worried about riley, though.
most of all i miss MARC!!!
i listen to aar on xm radio, which had a promo by marc for morning sedition today. aaaghhh the irony.
Well, THAT’s over with. I haven’t had a spare moment since Friday. Of course, that’s how New Years goes but DAYUM! I don’t usually do anything on New Years Eve and was going to share my turn of the year with the blog but at the last minute a well-meaning friend declared it bad to be alone at midnight and she dragged me, kicking and cooking (um…yeah, it’s me, remember?) to her house to watch “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.”
So happy new ear. folks, blog sibs and fellow seditionisti. A new year of vigilance and the search for the funny!
SUMMARY: Psychiatrist Charles W. Socarides claimed to have “cured” thousands of patients of homosexuality; his son Richard became a noted LGBT activist.
Okay, maybe not a Morning Remembrance. Maybe what we need is a good-bye and thanks for nothing. Oh, was that disrespectful? 😮
I’ll add my recipe in a different post. But let it be known that I ate black eyed peas on Marc’s and Jim’s behalf yesterday. They’re supposed to bring luck and prosperity when eaten on New Years Day.
The death of Socarides reminds me of a friend who, decades ago, was attending a medical conference in the Soviet Union. One of the speakers mentioned that they had “found a cure for homosexuality.” My old friend, being a daredevil, could not resist temptation during the Q & A session after the talk with:
“You mentioned that you have found a cure for homosexuality? I ask because I happen to be afflicted with Judaism and was wondering if you were working on a cure for that too?”
What’s this about an AAR staffer visiting this blog? Who was it?
I thought Riley was ok for an early morning news show. I heard the first bit of Rachel, and she is still on to her game. I am getting used to her schtick.
Ed Schultz on AAR! What are your thoughts on this?
Stephanie Miller! Same drill.
I like Schultz. I like Alan Colmes, (and the Satellite Sisters), too. But not on the AAR. For some reason, I loathe Miller. Haven’t really listened to her beyond one show. Can’t stand the hoops you must go through to stream her.
Oh, I don’t know. Those executives make decisisions without public input–unless you agree with them–then make it palatabel.:sheep::sheep:
Lesch was on Franken. Rerun. Touching bit about fathers. Franken got choked up. Katherine on.
I want to share a great article by a patient of the existential psychiatrist R.D. Laing.
Here is an excerpt: January 2, 2006
Breaking Down with Dr. Laing
A Trip to the Far Side of Madness
By CLANCY SIGAL
Scene: a dark shaded consulting room on the ground floor of 21 Wimpole Street, London W1. Time: early 1960s. This is my first session with the up-and- coming “celebrity shrink”, Dr Ronald D Laing. I’ve run through half a dozen therapists who either call me names (“You’re unanalysable, dear man”) or recommend electroshock therapy (at Maudsley hospital) or advise me to quit writing if it’s so painful.
Laing is a breath of fresh air. He is about my age (mid-30s), irreparably handsome with the doomed beauty of a haunted artist, and from a similar slum background. He speaks my language, or so it seems. Later, it turns out he is fashionably downgrading his Presbyterian middle-class origins in Glasgow.
Smoking a thin cigar, he leans forward intently in his cracked-leather chair and examines me through half-lidded eyes. “What are ye fookin’ around wi’ all that neurotic shit for, Clancy?” he says in a Scottish accent I am to learn he can put on or off at will. “Tummy aches and faintin’ spells is crybaby stuff. Ye’ve got the makings of a good schizophrenic. Lucky ye’ve come to the right place.”
Indeed, I had. And at only six quid a session. Except that I had no idea what a schizophrenic was…
I’ve been editing the Morning Sedition entry at Wikipedia. Right now I am trying to figure out who the other voice is on the Al Qaeda news show “Iraq, Birth of a Nation”. I know Mike Ferucci, aka Johnny K-Street, is one of the voices.
Tomorrow on Hartmann’s show will be a guest with an important message.
Lise Saffran, from Mo., will be on to discuss a strategy her organization is trying to put in place. Basically, Blue areas helping Red areas organize to win the Red regions (back) to the Blue ledger.
Tuesday. 7am. KPOJ Tyger Thom’s Show.
(Full Disclosure: I have familial ties with Lise.):peace::sdavid:
it’s hard to imagine why the negotiations with marc have been going so slowly. after all this time, it’s ridiculous that there hasn’t been any kind of formal announcement. I mean, didn’t their original negotiations begin at least in nov. (if not before)? the new year is here, and there is still nothing definite.
The following is a post on a blog on my local newspaper’s website, from one of the columnists there. It’s a couple of days old (posted on new year’s eve), but I just came across it.
I think it’s important, because I don’t excatly live in some liberal bastion. I hope it’s an example of how the people are beginning to wake up to what this administration is doing.
Narnia and wiretaps
I’m reading the books in “The Chronicles of Narnia” to my youngest son. Right now we’re in the middle of “The Magician’s Nephew,” in which C.S. Lewis – the British philosopher and long-time buddy of JRR Tolkien – explains how evil first came to Narnia.
Evil arrived in the form of a savage witch-queen named Jadis. At one point in the book, she explains to a couple of skeptical children why the leader of a nation should be free to basically do whatever she wants to achieve security – in this case, to kill countless civilians and innocent creatures.
Boom. All of a sudden, I wasn’t thinking about witches and talking lions. All of a sudden I was thinking about the way the highest officials in our government explain why it’s OK to use wiretaps without warrants or to send guys in all-black outfits to kidnap suspects who are then hidden in secret prisons in Eastern Europe:
“I had forgotten that you are only a common boy,” (Jadis said). “How should you understand reasons of state? You must learn, child, that what would be wrong for you or for any of the common people is not wrong in a great queen, such as I. The weight of the world is on our shoulders. Ours is a high and lonely destiny.”
It should be noted that Lewis made these points after witnessing the evils of Stalin and the Nazis, which means he wasn’t buying into the you’ve-got-to-be-like-the-bad-guys-in-scary-times bit, which is also the whole point of “The Lord of the Rings.”
Screw it! I’m going to Jonathan’s and drown my sorrow in a freakin’ cheeseburger! Liberal confession to follow…..:priest:
Wake up :sheep:! This is a mess! :fustrate:
I was about to write the same thing: Why no update?
I will still listen. I don’t abandon friends. (KPOJ is running Riley’s show.)
Who cares about Record Sales?:omg: Quality, not quantity.
Where is the blog for this show, Presto? Sedition@airamerica.com
Any news om Marc’s new show? Did the letters, cards, and do NOTHING?
Gee, real professional, AAR.
“On Now…Morning Sedition.” I guess that DG just wants to rub salt in the wound.
Where’s the update for TRMS?
Where’s the update for Riley’s Bore-A-Thon?
When is Franken coming back? From the AAR site, you’d think he’s entertaining the troops until, oh, I don’t know…just about FOREVER?
What a lame-o bunch of CRAP!!!
More evidence that liberals like to lose. :barf:
Air America Mornings- the Mark Riley Show. I’ll try it, but I’m not holding my breath.
This show isn’t bad. Kent Jones is in his regular guise. Vigilance!:sheep:

Hightower is a terrific commentator. He has his finger on the pulse of what is truly going on.
I am presently reading Frank’s What’s the Matter with Kansas? Frank goes more into why people “vote against their best interests.”:omg:
:jesus:Circulate those tapes!:peace:
Nicki- With no tape player, I’m passing out some CDs. :yinyang:
CDs. Tapes. Same principle. In fact, the same damned thing. Keep the show alive through circulation of past shows and highlight bits. Generate interest, encourage the people to bring the show back, bigger and better, with or without AAR. :nixon:

I need to go back to bed. :omg: It’s 4 am on the westcoast.

I just edited it out dude……wondering where you’d been….
Just pissed at the loss of MS, and don’t want anyone puttin’ this site down, I reread and know I was jumpin’ the gun….
Jason, I jump when guns are involved, too.
Ha ha!! Me too…..:peace:
Hey NC Blue, Jason, Bascombe!
Jason, you did get a complete download of all the old MS shows? AAP may have them as pay-per-hear soon. I’d like to get a copy.
Rachel is not that bad specially with Kent around. The fact is that she is a complete news junkie. But trying to do a two hour show with just news @ the speed of Rachel is a bit of a stretch. Thanks for the update hchaddha! I’m stil waiting for details on Maron’s show. He said it would be based http://www.ktlk.com/main.html
Stephanie Miller and Ed Schultz are not part of Air America. See how confusing this new model is? Because the shows are mixed on all the affiliates people are confused as to who is on what network.
Ed Shultz and Stephanie Miller are not part of AAR at the moment.
Ed Schultz doesn’t want to be part of AAR. Probably a good decision on his part with all that’s happened there.
but the money people are mixed.
AAAARRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!
I think it really sank in today; first day back to a normal schedule after the Holidays. Back to the archives for a fix . . .
Gotta git. Have some stuff to do before the heavy weather sets in. Later, all.
Vigilance!
The lost cell phone may be found!
Listening to WLIB…i like Springer more than I thought I would but

I don’t usually do anything on New Years Eve and was going to share my turn of the year with the blog but at the last minute a well-meaning friend declared it bad to be alone at midnight and she dragged me, kicking and cooking (um…yeah, it’s me, remember?) to her house to watch “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow.”
So happy new ear. folks, blog sibs and fellow seditionisti. A new year of vigilance and the search for the funny!
:fire: :fire: :fire:
We need a Morning Remembrance today for this guy:
SUMMARY: Psychiatrist Charles W. Socarides claimed to have “cured” thousands of patients of homosexuality; his son Richard became a noted LGBT activist.
Okay, maybe not a Morning Remembrance. Maybe what we need is a good-bye and thanks for nothing. Oh, was that disrespectful? 😮
I’ll add my recipe in a different post. But let it be known that I ate black eyed peas on Marc’s and Jim’s behalf yesterday. They’re supposed to bring luck and prosperity when eaten on New Years Day.
Hey Gypsy!
Sign off. Circulates tapes.:peace:
Palatable. Palatable. :omg::sheep: (Goddamn editing function.)

I just cannot bring myself to listen to AAR. It used to be my home page but I changed it and just visited it for the first time since…
It seems like it is in a time warp, frozen, stagnant: over.

Anyone care to edit it?
Yikes!! XM is still advertising Alan Colmes at 10 PM, followed by Mike Molloy!
I’ve been editing the Morning Sedition entry at Wikipedia. Right now I am trying to figure out who the other voice is on the Al Qaeda news show “Iraq, Birth of a Nation”. I know Mike Ferucci, aka Johnny K-Street, is one of the voices.
Attn KPOJers!

Where’s Maron???!!!
it’s hard to imagine why the negotiations with marc have been going so slowly. after all this time, it’s ridiculous that there hasn’t been any kind of formal announcement. I mean, didn’t their original negotiations begin at least in nov. (if not before)? the new year is here, and there is still nothing definite.
AAR is a mess.
We have all of history to learn our lessons over and over and over and…………
