i get the feeling we’re not in kansas anymore. or are we?
good evening :yinyang: morning all.
What’s the matter with Kansas?
Good Evening Morning Tom
There’s 4 users on here, where’s the chatter?
Cowardly Lion: All right, I’ll go in there for Dorothy. Wicked Witch or no Wicked Witch, guards or no guards, I’ll tear them apart. I may not come out alive, but I’m going in there. There’s only one thing I want you fellows to do.
Tin Woodsman, Scarecrow: What’s that?
Cowardly Lion: Talk me out of it.
Hey, how do I make a link to a picture, that’s stored on my computer, to this site? I’m computer illiterate.
I got all messed up by a crooked family physician. Now how’s that gonna look….
It even hurts to yawn:yawn:
Evening Morning all boat people.
What’s the thing about playing The Dark Sidde of the Moon While watch The Wizard of OZ? You had to start at the lion’s second roar or something.
We had done it along time ago :bong: and wasn’t always thinking clearly.
Caution, intelligent at werk.
Click Me!
Jason, I warned you.
You would do that to me NC! I’m a cowoys fan…ha ha!:omg:
I remember that Kong! Never tried it though…
Cowboys? Cowboys? I don’t see no stinkin’ Cowboys in the playoffs. However, I did see where Parcells signed up for an additional two years of living in hell, I mean Texas. I spent about five months there. It was 116 in May with the asphalt streets melting. Makes one pine for coastla California in a really big way.
Travis! Hey buddy what’s up?
I’ve never tried the Floyd either, but I think I missed the boat. The opportunity has washed away. The tide has eroded the castle….The….my well is dry.
What’s with the
?
Yeah, I’ve been there once in my life. Actually I don’t really follow pro football anymore, but I do love my Iowa Hawkeyes!
Hey, Jason. I’m all messed up, man.
How soon do you think till you’re fully recovered? :paranoid:
Hi, Travis. Glad to see you are on the road to wellness.
“Boat people” usually refers to an unwanted flock of southeast Asian refugees no one would take in. We have applied the term to ourselves. We are the MS Boat People, and proud of it. However, I keep having these flashbacks to movies such as “The Boatniks” and “Captain Ron” when considering how we would navigate. Maybe “The Crimson Permanent Assurance” might fit our… idiom best.
I think my hearing is completely screwed up for life. But my strength is coming back. Maybe another week or so, or something.
That’s a low blow, NC, especially after last Saturday’s game. You KNOW that fumble Simeon Rice recovered in the end zone should have been 6 points for the Bucs.
And just when I had vowed to myself to stop discussing sports on this blog.
So let’s make sport of Scalito instead!
Good morning :sheep::sheep::sheep:le.
Kevin, does that mean I shouldn’t talk about my Redskins tee under my Panthers sweatshirt? And last night, between precinct meetings, I caught some Carolina and NC State basketball. They both won. Life is good. Then you do the dishes.
Are the hearings starting at the same time today?
I’m gonna go download the Daily Show, be back in a few
:fire:
I’ll be captain Jack Sparrow from pirates of the Caribbean.:40: BOAT SHEEPLE!
Travis, if you like Cap’n Jack Sparrow then take a gander at this website:
Movie Trailer
That was great. It looks like fun. I didn’t hear any of it and I kept looking for the closed caption….but they didn’t show up.(bad directions, I guess)
After my surgery I went on an oceanic movie trip. Master and Commander, Pirates of the caribbean and Blue Crush. Movies that attract the eyes. At least mine, anyway.
Hey, you guys better say somethin’. I get all self-conscious when I’m the last one to post. Even a bit schizo.
Alito hearings
Put on some pressure.
How’s your happiness mercury compared to a decade ago?:rant1: check it
Recipe: India Pale Ale
3 1/3 pounds John Bull hopped malt extract
3 pounds Cooper’s Bitter malt extract
2 pounds Brewmaster light dry malt extract
1 ounce Willamette hops (60 minutes)
1/2 ounce Kent Goldings hops (finish)
1 ounce Kent Goldings hops (dry)

1/2 tsp Irish moss
Wyeast No. 1056 Chico Ale liquid yeast
3/4 cup com sugar to prime
Boil 60 minutes. Ferment 4 weeks at 65 degrees. Ideal aging 2-3 months.
This recipe by James T. Reese won first place at the 1989 National Homebrew Competitions.
Last night on The Majority Report Ralph Neas from People for the American Way said that it is not too late to derail the Alito nomination. He said that no one thought Bork would be defeated in the first phase of his hearings. He said it is important for us to pressure the Senators and give them support for voting aginst Alito. Sam Seder is live again from Washington DC tonight covering as he likes to say, the Alieto hearings.
It is discouraging to see that the NY Times Continues to carry water for the Administration. The lead article on today’s website is “Judge Alito proves a powerful match for senate questioners.” Unbelievable !
At least Maureen Dowd told the truth in her article today. In summary, she said, “Judge Alito was evasive, disingenuous and deferential. He fits the Bush era like a baseball glove.”
Good Morning, Fellow BloggerIlluminati!!!
Vie Gehts?
Total Fascism is only two votes away. Let’s all express out gratitude to Arlen Specter and Friends!
Yeah! maltodextrin is available. Now just a few more ingredients…
Boat People! That’s pretty much how I do feel!
Can’t shake it. Two shows, less than half the funny. Worse is that the two hosts have achieved a heretofore unimaginable level of arrogance, which in and of itself is completely undeserved. But I digress… :fire:
Good Morning Boat People of the SS Sedition. Okay, it’s getting on to the the middle of the month isn’t it? We should be hearing something any day now. Maronless mornings totally suck.:-(
You know, I don’t trust myself enough to become a bootlegger. I would probably add to much of this or to little of that and poison myself.
Yup, I have to sleep now… I’ll be dreamin’ about the Big Ruckus and trying not to lose any teeth on my expeditions.

By Quentin Smith. Also a first place recipe, in 1991.
Kristapea, yesterday you mentioned the pop up ad on the AAR stream. If you go to the Majority Report website you can access the stream via Real Player and not get the ads.
Got any recipes of any porters NC?
Kristpea, I have a couple dozen Porter formulae. I picked up the Classic Beer Style Series books in Half Price Books on Telegraph in Berkeley a few years ago, And a copy of Victory Beer Recipes compiled by the American Homebrewers Association.
Yeah, I did that yesterday, Thanks a million. 1 less frustration in my life.
NC Blue – Have you brewed either of these? Which do you prefer? What are you fermenting now?
Anything dark and bitter. I’m not gonna buy the book though. I just like having different sorts of recipes around in case I should get the urge to make beer. If I’m gonna have to learn to grow my own food in the future,I’m gonna be a brewin’ too.
Me brew this stuff? Not yet. I don’t have any place I can put the fermentation bucket and control the temperature. If I ever build a house of my own, or remodel one with a basement, I plan on adding a brewing room. I would also like to distill some whiskey, but they would hang me for that blasphemy in NC.
250 cc Ruckus! Somebody, anybody just say something about it. Then I’ll stop with all these links.
Don’t say I’ll shoot my eye out either, cause I’ve already heard it.
If this is the first time you have made any home made beer be sure its through fermenting before you bottle it. Exploding bottles in the fridge is no fun.
Hey buddy, what’s up? (TM)

Good Morning fellow Bloggerilluminati Morning Sedition Boat People!!:priest:
Mrs. PJ here. Just wanted to check in & let everyone know PJ is surviving his DeeCee experience & should be back home tomorrow:banana:
Hey, Travis, hang in there, Buddy. You sound kind of frustrated that there aren’t too many of us up and blogging in the pre-dawn hours (at least here in EST):(. Sounds like MS withdrawal symptoms & I don’t know that there is any methadone equivalent to ease the jones we are all clearly experiencing.
Got the following link this morning from the ACLU:
I urge everyone to contact your senators & tell them to dump Alito. I wrote to Hillary & Chuck via the above link & told them not to betray us again by allowing the Scalito nomination to proceed.
I’m still mad at them for their pro-war stance  which is becoming less and less politically expedient. :rant1:
Have a good day, all!
Jesus loves you.:jesus: Deal with it!:bong:

Is that from fisthand experience Fred?
Travis- is ‘ugly’ a comment? I like the Honda crusiers on the site. (Oh, that’s ’cause I have one.)

Krista, I also have a copy of “Great Beer From Kits” if you are interested in that. It has 4 bitters recipes and 2 each for porter and stout.
Krista.. the guy across the hall in the dorm in college made some beer and put 24 bottles in his fridge . His room and the one below it stunk for weeks.

You can’t
You can’t
He will
It doesn’t seem to matter what these people say. Rethugs have an aversion to telling the truth. Once they gain a nomination they revert back to the same old stuff – blind support for big business over real live people and huge amounts of privelege for the wealthy.
Also, Fearsome Leader is the one throwing “class warfare” around while the left-wingers avoid the term. Once again, if Cowboy George is talking about it it must me true. And for the rethugs once again the idea of preemptive attacks has seemed to worked.
+?¿1?4billcat:I need to get some shuteye:omg:. Happy viewing on the Alito coronation!:alc:
Springer advocates bringing in professional counsels to ask the questions. This will get to the root of the matter. “Answer the question, Benito.”
What flatulence Steph have to say about it?

:billcat: Sedition Party Web Site Update:billcat:
It’s been a rough week. Last Wednesday the power company changed the transformer powering the office. It triggered a whole cascade of increasing problems so that by Thursday my entire external network was trashed. I think they touched the broadband cable with the 33kv line (which should have grounded out, but the way the wireing in in this city who knows what happened). Spent the last week rebuilding and reconfiguring servers.:rant1:
Never fear – the MS archives are intact and back online.

In a hurry this morning, no time to get caught up just now. But…..
Is this one of you? Whoever it is, as soon as I have the money, I want it. Although I think Marc might not be too crazy about having his bare chest on my bare chest. Then again, I keep saying he’s my adoptive brother so it’s not THAT weird…
Thanks, jason. My concern is to make sure the archive is available online, with AAP going to their “premium” service (at $10.95 a month – are Mark/Rachel/Al/Randi worth it? I Think Not:crap:). I think the current free archive disappears on 1 Feb.
Oh man, I was just able to listen to CSpan and now I am even more pissed off about this Alito Nomination. I had to turn off CSpan. I caught the end of Edward Kennedy’s questioning of Alito. He was questioning him about his membership in the radical group (anti women, anti-black and hispanic)Concerned Alumni of Princeton and wanted to subpoena records about this group held by the Library of Congress. He wrote a letter to Specter about this issue Dec 22 and Specter denied receiving the letter. Specter was pissy and ranted on about how Kennedy wasn’t going to run this committe. Absolute :crap:. And, the manner of Alito as he was supposedly answering questions was disturbing. He had a whiny voice, threw his hand around in a kind of dismisive, bored gesture and looked totally stupid. :yuck:
I went to the Post Office this morning and got 34 postcards (thinking they would be delivered faster than letters) to mail to my senators, members of the judiciary committe and the Gang of 14 that compromised on the filibuster.
Thanks for fighting Senator Kennedy !
Gypsy, how the heck did you find that:?::rofl2:
I just sent an email to Senator Kennedy thanking him for asking the tough questions of Alito and not backing down. Senate link
I found it totally by accident. My friend wants one of the other artists’ t-shirts and I started browsing the other t-shirts to see if maybe there was something I liked better for her and there was the bare-chested Marc! I really want to know who put that one up.
As I was leaving the house this morning I heard someone (James Carville?) on NBC’s morning news fluff saying that what someone needs to ask Alito is “You say a judge should base decisions on law and not on personal feelings. Can you give us a couple of examples of how you’ve done that in your decisions?” It’s not THE hard question, but it’s one that needs to be addressed.
My sense, while I despise admitting it, is that the committee is not laying a glove on Scalito.
Sadly, he will be confirmed with ease. Just my opinion. :40:
Alito is a done deal, folks, and he was a done deal last November. Miers was just the smokescreen. We were NOT going to get a consensus justice out of this president. Look at how arrogant he is now that he’s on the ropes.
What we CAN and SHOULD do is nip this Joe Biden candidacy in the bud. The man is an insult to all things progressive.
Being out of power SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :fustrate:
Senator Kennedy just got his request granted by Specter. They will get the documents from the Library of Congress concerning Alito’s membership in Concerned Alumni of Princeton !
Alito is a man with a tiny brain and restrictive idea of what America is. I don’t care if conventional wisdom is that this is a done deal. I am making my voice heard.
$10.95 a month for AAR “premium” subscription? I don’t theeeeeeenk so. NFW w/o Morning Sedition. Shit, I haven’t even been listening to it for free. They’ll have to come up with more than 37 minutes of Maron a day to get me to pay $131 a year, too.
KTLK currently has a limited archive of “on demand” podcasts for the shows on their station, so hopefully Marc’s show will be part of that, or he’ll have his own podcasting available. My sense (no facts to back this up, of course, but if it’s good enough for our hero the president, it’s good enough for me) is that AAR isn’t going to provide much in the way of a show budget, so I hope that doesn’t mean they get to control the rights to the podcast.
I also think maybe any LA area seditionists ought to write/call/e-mail/visit KTLK and strt telling them you want your Marc Maron, and you want a three-hour show.
Heard some interesting stuff today on privacy (or the lack thereof), the third-party doctrine (I never knew that the Supreme Court considered any transaction you have with a third-party and whatever info you share with them – Banks, ISP’s, you name it – to automatically forfeit your expectation of privacy – even if they have a privacy policy – with regard to anything you share with that third-party) and data-mining. Some stuff I knew, much I was unaware of.
This guy said not to think of all this spying as Orwell and 1984, but more of Kafka and The Trial.
Very scary. And only to get worse with a very young crop of Bush appointees to the Supreme Court.
Carry on, y’all.
I appreciate your voice. But let’s not deceive ourselves. Self-deception(I do it all the time) is our enemy.
What we need to do is re-capture the House and/or Senate. Without at least one of the branches of government, we are all deceiving ourselves.
I am open to constructive criticism.
Alito is a man with a tiny brain and restrictive idea of what America is. I don’t care if conventional wisdom is that this is a done deal. I am making my voice heard.

What isi said. I usually don’t make New Year’s resolutions, but this year I decided to stop putting up with so much shit.
If Alito thinks he can blow off his CAP membership with the I Don’t Recall card, he is full of shit. Kudos to Kennedy for calling him on it.
These are dark days for this country, that will become even darker if we do not stand up and fight.
DOWN WITH SCALITO!!!

PJ yes it is a lot of money. But lets ask ourselves:
What can I (I) cut out to help the cause?
Where am I wasting money that could go to one of the ONLY voices we have in the media?
I am not here to judge. I will find a way to cut back on something else to help the cause. It is too important.
Period.
Bork Alito!:rant1:
Shutup, Robertson. You whackjob!
I don’t feel I am deceiving myself. I agree that we need to work to regain the House and the Senate but I feel I can also speak out in my own little way about this nomination. I have lived long enough to know that conventional wisdom sometimes changes. I thought I heard Randi say that the vote on Alito won’t take place until the 19th. I view his nomination to the Supreme Court as so extreme that I feel I must take some action. Yes, he may be confirmed but as a citizen of the US I want to voice my opinion to the members of the Senate.
It FEELS GOOD to say “Bork Alito”…I know….
Ain’t gonna happen.
Let’s put our hopes aside and work toward gaining some power back in the Congress this year.
It’s the ONLY way, folks…..
Even if the dems capture a branch or two, Borkalito will still be on the SCOTUS–along with at three other Free Republic types. Bankruptcy bill intact. All of the other awful legislation that the Dems teamed up with Bush on. More…gerrymandering:omg:
We are in trouble. The system is rigged to support the needs of Big Money!
Allende was not “a Marxist” you AAR reader. Stop reading that agit-prop line. Allende was a socialist. That’s why he went the electoral route.
isi
I am 100% with you…we CAN and NEED to voice our opinion. My only point…is that WITHOUT power in at least ONE of the branches of government… it amounts to “FEEL GOOD”. I am attempting to deal with reality. We all need to deal with reality, tough as it is.
We need to go door to door, guerilla selling, for the 2006 elections. I know it’s tough. We all have lives to deal with and live. Yet it’s too important to our futures.
Period.

Why did Randi take a day off? Isn’t this Borkalito to the SCOTUS important?:omg:

I am going to make some tapes to circulate!:peace:
Send postcards. Tell them BORK ALITO!
Go door to door to get out the votes. And, to paraphrase Mike Malloy: GET RID OF THOSE MACHINES!
(Don’t:40:. Organize!)
gachplope, but we the people are the power! We just don’t use it. If we as a people rose up we could defeat the nomination no mater who controls the Senate because the majority of people in this country don’t hold Alito’s views. I don’t write Senators because it makes me feel good I take action to try to be part of a sea change. At least I know I tried.
Look…for anyone who is listening to my rant…
We cannot confuse INTENTIONS with RESULTS!
We all have the best intentions…yet we are being steamrolled by REPIGS who have attained the RESULTS of power.
We need to have not only intention, but stamina, work ethic and determination to produce the result of POWER GAINED. End of subject.
I do not mean to preach, but I am sick and tired of being steamrolled.
Had they hit me up for $10.95 prior to killing MS, I wouldn’t have blinked at paying (I’ve spent a very tidy sum trying to keep being able to listen) them. Now, though, I just don’t feel the same way about AAR. I can’t help it. I couldn’t wait for it to come on the air – I had the website bookmarked way before they went on the air, and I started trying to connect to the streaming at about 10 AM on March 31, 2004. Streaming was very rough for a while there.
I followed them to XM, and then to Sirius (but not back again; that’s when I started podcasting; it’s also when I started to listen a lot less – except to MS).
Now, post-Maron, I hardly ever even think to listen in. I want to be a big fan. Honest. But the way DG has operated, I just don’t have the same feeling anymore. It’s like finding out Santa is some miserable old wino just in it for the money.
When they were in the process of killing MS, many folks (especially over at places like AAP) were saying, well, it’s a business afterall. It’s a “bidness” decision. Well, OK, it’s a business then. That means that if I feel their product is worth my money, then I’ll buy it. If not, I won’t. Business works both ways, I’m sorry to say. They can’t tell me they’re a business one day, they ask to me to send in a $50 pledge of “support” the next.
I’m just plain tired of most of the shows, to be honest. I really tried to listen to Springer – I thought he could be a good draw for folks who didn’t realize they were actually liberals. Sorry, I find him unprepared and just plain booooooring. Al has good guests somtimes, but I’m just tired of him. He’s still doing the same schtick he did when I went to see him nearby in 2003. Besides, he’s a bit too DLC for me. Randi can be funny in small doses, but quite often I find her unlistenable. I still like MR, but don’t make a point of listening the way I did with MS. I get a kick out of Malloy, too.
The weekend lineup has some of the best stuff now, but, still, I rarely get around to listening. AAR took away the one thing that made it indespensible to me, and now I find that I can live without it.
I honestly wish that wasn’t the case.
And if the new AAMornings does great and attracts a whole new audience, well, that’s great for them. I wish AAR and everybody at AAR – minus one – the best.
Ah, NickiRose, you’re here. I was wondering if you’d slept in today. :peace:
As for spending money for AAR, I won’t bother. Yeah, I’m sure I spend money on useless things but I don’t listen to enough AAR for it to be useful for me to spend money there. With MS gone I get ten or so minutes of Rachel Maddow, a half hour or so of Franken (my tolerance is limited) and an hour of Randi (about all I have time for.) Beyond that I’m not listening to the network so why would I put my money into it? I support the concept but not enough to waste my money on stuff I can’t use.
But that’s me. YMMV.
ok pj
I respect your opinion.
then what is our media alternative?
Well, there’s Democracy Now!, and bunch of very interesing, progressive shoutcast streams and podcasts out there. There are also a ton of progressive documentaries available, either to buy or via bittorrent. There are plenty of alternative news sources on the web, and if AAR ever gets an affiliate where I live, they’ll be on every radio in my house again 24/7. Unfortunately, the best we’ve been able to get here is Ed Schultz on our ClearChannel wingnut station, but it’s a start (and that took a lot of writing).
The best thing is probably to pay attention to the issues, get informed and educated, and then go out and bug the hell out of every “conservative” out there (they hate it when you have the facts, and all they have are some very shallow talking points – not that the facts are usually enough to change their minds; carry a 2×4 with you, too). We must become the media.
Oh, and take back at least one house of congress from the republicans, and then work on taking the democratic party back from the DLC republican-lite.
Counterpunch is a good source of information. Check this out:

How Quickly They Forget the Real Sharon
“Eating Palestine for Breakfast”
By KATHLEEN and BILL CHRISTISON
On the morning of the day Ariel Sharon had his stroke last week, Ha’aretz ran an analysis — aptly titled “Eating Palestine for Breakfast” — that captured the real Ariel Sharon. It may be the last honest analysis ever to see the light of day in the mainstream media, now that Sharon is being lionized so widely as a heroic peacemaker, a man “who could deliver real peace,” and other such absurdities. The Ha’aretz article, elaborating on a prediction by a leading political commentator and an Israeli think tank, laid out a scenario said to be Sharon’s vision for Palestine following his expected electoral victory in March. According to the scenario, Sharon would set Israel’s borders and reshape the West Bank by formally annexing the major Israeli colonies there (colonies in Palestinian East Jerusalem have already been annexed) and establishing the separation wall as the official Israeli border.
The major West Bank settlement blocs outside Jerusalem house approximately 80 percent, or about 190,000, of the West Bank settlers and are rapidly expanding. In addition, the nearly 200,000 Israeli settlers in East Jerusalem, whom no one in Israel intends to remove, would also remain in their colonies, under full and permanent Israeli control. Sharon would also annex a strip of land in the eastern West Bank along the Jordan River and would then dismantle the colonies remaining in between the two annexed areas, evacuating their 40,000-50,000 settlers. This scenario would incorporate into Israel 90 percent of the total of approximately 425,000 Israelis now living in occupied territories on confiscated Palestinian land.
The result of this maneuvering would of course be the permanent end of any hope for true Palestinian independence in any kind of decent, defensible state. The areas left to the Palestinians would constitute perhaps 50 or 60 percent of the West Bank, plus Gaza —

Bowing to Hillary
The Surrender of MoveOn.org
By JOSHUA FRANK
It’s a good thing for MoveOn.org that George W. Bush was reelected. If he hadn’t been, the liberal troupe would have nothing to contest. Even if the bloody occupation had continued under a John Kerry presidency (it most certainly would have), the cowering office-chair activists would have ducked behind their computer screens awaiting the return of another brutal Republican administration. Activism should never be partisan, but MoveOn.org isn’t about to hold the Democrats’ accountable for supporting Bush’s war agenda.
I’m not even all that sure MoveOn opposes the Iraq war. Sure, they rallied opposition during the lead-up to the invasion a few years back, but since then they’ve done little if anything that should garner the respect of the antiwar movement. Despite Kerry’s grotesque position on the Iraq war in 2004, MoveOn implored their members to donate cash to his campaign, but said nary a word about his pro-war posturing. You can’t support a candidate without putting demands on their candidacy, and MoveOn’s breakdown has made them all but irrelevant as an antiwar club.
Case in point. Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York has continued to support Bush’s war in Iraq as well as his greater war on terror, yet MoveOn refuses to voice frustration. Instead, they support the war-hungry senator and admit they won’t stand up to her during an election year. . . Hillary still won’t retract her defense of the war, let alone meet with genuine antiwar activists here in New York.
All of this, and the feckless MoveOn.org still won’t call Hillary out for her warmongering.

IMNSHO, AAR’s current lineup is just preaching to the choir (sorry – preaching to the legion of demons, IN HELL! :priest:). It isn’t going to attract anybody who isn’t already a progressive to consider progressive ideas. I never would have listened to any of AAR’s programming if I hadn’t first stumbled on MS. So why waste money on AAR, if your goal is to expand the movement?
I was in the Beruit just after Sharon’s minions laid waste to the Sabra and Satillia camps. Lot of blood on his hands.
Well, I don’t agree.
I know many personally who were “on the fence” that listened to AAR and whow stated their “eyes were opened”.
I am talking about “mainsteam” radio..in your car on the way to and from work…you don’t reach for counterpunch.org….where you can hear an alternative.
I believe you are missing the boat.
I’ve got to run…i’ll be back…but we are getting our asses kicked and it SUCKS! Self-deny that at your/our own peril…..
Bravo Senator Chuck Schumer !!!! After he got through with Sammy I thought he was going to cry.
Shut up Lindsey Graham !!!!!
Isi, I can’t hear it at work. What did Schumer do? He’s such a great guy!
Gypsy, Schumer’s demeanor was impressive, first of all. He was serious, no nonsense and didn’t joke and smile stupidly like Biden and Feinstein. He tried to nail Alito on the fact that Alito has mentioned several cases like Brown vs Board of Education, One Man One Vote precedent and other cases that he considers settled law. He said he considers those cases settled because he doesn’t believe there is any realistic way they will be challenged. Yet he won’t say Roe v. Wade is settled. So, Schumer whips out visual aids to show all the cases now in the courts challenging those very cases he said were settled. He really had nothing to say that made any sense. Schumer also questioned him hard on his membership in Concerned Alumni of Princeton. He is obviously lying about not remembering anything about it in 1990, yet he put it on his application for a job application in the Reagan administration. They are getting records from the Library of Congress on this issue.
Borkalito!:omg:
Hey! All AAR programming is largely “preaching to the Choir.”
We are in trouble. We need strong action to change the course we are on. DLC/Moveon.org like the course just fine.:omg::40::rant1::rofl2:
Lindsey Graham is such a fucking twerp. I hated him when he was on the Franken show. Somebody pimp slap that creep!:omg:
Good discussion about how fucked we are. I have been feeling that way too, although it is not making me give up.It is making me want to do more and fight harder. I knew if Bush got to be president again that we would have to fight tooth and nail on every single issue because they are ALL important. I knew it would be this way. I like what someone said earlier, that we have to be our own media. ANd we’re doing that, right now. I really like the freeway blogging thing too, I’m REALLY inspired by that!http://www.freewayblogger.com/index.htm
So, I wonder if Marc’s show will be able to be heard on other stations or is it just going to be broadcaste on KTLK and we just have to stream or podcast
So, what PJ said earlier about AAR was pretty much exactly how I feel about it. I listen to our local Charles Goyette’s first hour and whatever else of his show I can catch and sometimes MR. Danny has done some permanent damage. It’s like he has cut the top off the main stem of a beautiful plant. What an ass.
Bork Alito!:omg:
roday I kept trying and trying to listen to al; but he kept drivingm e crazy because of his centrist views and his cozying up to his journalist buddies. four times I turned the radio on and off. the first time I turned him off was right at the beginning of the show, when, in his usual laborious manner, he described why we had to cut scalito slack for violating his pledge to congress not to sit on cases involving the X company (I forgot its name), the company in which scalito has a financial interest.
yep, that’s just what we need: cutting slack for scalito, the judge with the convenient lapses in memory. scalito forgets things like, oh, say, a pledge not to recuse himself where he has a financial interest, or like his bragging about membership in an organization that oppose allowing women and minorities admission to princeton. there are so many reasons why this guy should not be on the supreme court, including the fact that he is about as extremist a judge as you can find in the US right now.
but of course our dems can’t find the spine to filibuster.
as a lawyer and law professor, I cringe when I think about this nomination. I’m trying not to go mad, as I watch the approach of a New Paleolithic era for the Court.
can’t you just imagine what marc would do with scalito? instead, those of us who can still tolerate al get to hear him explain why we should cut him slack.
borkalito!!
So, Is that the correct spelling for Bork, because i’m using that for a sign.
dip67,In contrast to Al Franken, Sam Seder has been doing an outstanding job of covering the Alieto hearings. Thank goodness for his outrage. He has been broadcasting live from DC, although Thursday I think he will be back in New York. He has had Ralph Neas (People For the American Way) on both nights to critique the day’s hearings. He also has had bloggers who have been covering the hearings on to give their take. Last night, the consensus was that the Democrats did a good job of getting Alieto admit that he does not believe Roe v. Wade is settled law. Even Roberts stated that Roe v Wade was settled. And that because of this admission Republicans like Susan Collins, Olympia Snowe, and Lincoln Chafee are put in a tough spot because they were elected to the Senate because of their pro-choice views. Also, they thought the Democrats should make more of an issue of the fact that Alieto praised Robert Bork profusely a year after Bork’s nomination was stopped. Also, the fact that Bush feels he can decide whether a law is constitutional and therefore whether he wants to abide by that law (for example torture). I’m not sure if I am correct but it seems they were calling it the Unitary Executive Theory? Armando of the Daily Kos thinks that we need to pressure our Democrats to filibuster this nomination. There was absolutely no mention of cutting him slack! Whenever I listen to Al Franken I get so furious I also have to turn him off. I haven’t listened to Al for ages. You’re right, Maron would be on Alito like white on rice.
:billcat: :priest::pent::yinyang:
🙁 Anyone can cry Mrs. Liar Alito — we Dems had to hear again the Republicans Lies AGAIN! (But now I scream, growl, and stalk you yellow belly LIARS and ’s pathetic twisted minions)
…By Your Actions You Are Damned — BY YOUR ACTIONS :rofl2:
:fire: Marc, I NEED The Funny (The Caustic Sharp Libra Wierd Wit) Snif Snif 🙁
Have I told you recently how much I love the Emoticons  😆
