So, there’s supposed to be an official “announcement” tonight about Marc’s new show and podcasting and stuff (exactly when and how, I don’t know). I wonder if Marc’s mailing list subscribers will get the news first? I hope so, and I hope it comes early, ‘cuz I have a class tonight, and it’ll be a lot easier to sit through if I know what’s going on. It would be even better if Morning Seditionists got an exclusive pre-release, but I know that’s not gonna happen. I just hope it isn’t a disappointment (c’mon, one hour just isn’t enough; give us at least two).
 I just wanted to start this blog of today with a dance and a laugh. :rofl2: …:fire:
The Tokyo Seditionists Meet-Up was a blast! Great to meet you Tom T and Jason! 🙂 You guys should do your own meetups!
Yay for official news on Marc!
:billcat::fire::grin::lol::doh::cool::mrgreen::wink:
GREAT icons….
:sammy::sammy::sammy::sheep::sheep::sheep:
Greetings, Seditionists! ( )
:banana::yawn::banana:
I’ll check you sheeple later. I have to get on a normal schedule so I can see the sun tomorrow.
I hope Maron isn’t holdin’ out on us.
travisdem_04 Night / Morning
I answered your previous blog on the other one. THX for confirmation re that female rethug.
Morning to ALL:!:
:fire:
I too am trying to get on somewhat of a normal schedule since Marc was “yanked”. so I am winding down. …:fire:
Travis, sorry about that tirade on Murkowski. I guess I shouldn’t blog in the middle of the night. 😳 I am glad that she turned out to be a Republican when I thought she was a Democrat it really bummed me out. I don’t expect anything from Republicans. I still believe we are in a bad place in this country and we need a revolution.
Seems like the local AAR station (Atlanta) is becoming less and less of a radio station. They used to have public announcements, spots about local events and regularly scheduled ones from the local free weekly newspaper and a local democrats group…now they have several minutes PER HOUR taken up by instrumental music. Not good.
I also think it’s lousy that Laura Flanders show is now called Radio Nation or some such non-name.
OK, maybe I’m just feeling pissy because it’s Monday morning where I am….
😡
I wonder if Rachel will talk about her appearance with Tucker Carlson? You know, where she said OBL sounded like Ken Mehlman only less gay.
good evening :yinyang: morning everyone.
gaijinda, jason – thank you so much for last night!
and thanks pj, for helping to make the tokyo meet-up happen.
i could babble on, but i’ll leave it at that.

So, Becky, is your local affiliate playing the crappy filler music we hear online??
Hey NCBlue I’ve got tomatoes broccoli and spinach!
Is it online too, Krista? I thought it was a local thing. WTF?
Because Marc is ALWAYS in support of lactating women:
That’s wierd that they’re playing it on your local affiliate. It’s supposed to be filled with local content I would assume. Online, it’s so that we don’t hear NY’s local ads and news. We get great little commentaries that are funny and informative on our local station. I posted a link to that yesterday.
And now, a word from the ovoid orifice.

Hi Kristpea. I gots ‘snips. Parsnips, that is. I haven’t even cleaned out the dead stuff in my veggy patch from last season. For one, the birds love the protection from the neighborhood cats…
A comment on activist judges.
I like how the cartoonist made Bush kinda fat. I’m sure he knows how sensitive Bush is about that!
Mmmm! I love parsnips!

re: filler music
Sam Seder and his producer were talking about this one night. Apparently playing music is a way to solve the problem of different affiliates having different schedules for cutting in and out. Ex.-WLIB starts at 6 minutes after the hour, but Mike Malloy starts at 7 minutes after the hour and their commercial breaks are different. They said it was easier to cut in on music than commercials.
i’m thinking that our affiliate has gone to a computer-run station or something

This may be the tinfoil hat talking, but….
Does anyone think that it’s possible that the Maron departure was more amicable than has been let on? Maron gets to go back to L.A. and live in the same time zone as his wife and gets a show that he’s hosting out of Burbank.
Of course, this assumes that the show actually happens. Show me.
I believe Marc when he said in his email that “this has been a horrendous few months for me.”
Hmm. I wonder how that would ferment. Would distillation be required?
like your headline, nc :rofl2:
I wouldn’t say tin-foil, instead I would say soap-opera.
Marc also said he was “furious” with AAR for what went down. How could he not be angry? MS was on a roll and was headed for great things. It’s like rolling along on your skateboard and hitting a pebble that makes you fly headlong into the sidewalk.
:spank:
Top of the Morning, seditionists.:nixon:

Well, Farmerkat, I believe in truth in advertising. But with this story, it means crime goes up so the druggies can afford their next fix. If we simply left meth labs alone as the 21st century moonshiners we would all be better off. Same with the hemp farmers.
I read that Halliburton contamination stroy, too. Further into the article the sources themselves become contradictory. I understand who controls the government – ame people controlling Halliburton – so it is hard to say what is the truth and what is spin.
Truth in our society is something we will do without until the rethugs are thrown out of office. It is difficult understanding how so many voters can swallow everything these people throw out there. I write it off to our failed school systems.
break the law? rewards are headed you’re way if you’re a repuklican::doh:
mentioned this yesterday, but rich talks about truth today:
Truthiness 101: From Frey to AlitoTruthiness 101: From Frey to Alito
the other piece i read yesterday was in the nytimes magazine. the article was about sharper images ionic air filters. consumer reports has done several studies showing the ionic breeze isn’t just ineffective, but can be harmful. sharper image sued CR for defamation and lost (truth is a defense to a defamation suit). YET the damn machine is still one of Sharper’s biggest sellers. somehow this explains the US today. 😕
Getting Through the Filter by Rob Walker
congratulations nickirose on the show!
Hey everyone!
Thats a great article from the NT Times Farmerkat!
But, can everyone click through to it? I think you need Times Select to get it…I can post the entire article if people want it. I already send all the good op eds to all of my friends who dont have Times Select….;-)
Im a little hopeful about tonight’s announcement. Where did I see the post about WWID (what would Imus do?)…was that on Kos or here? I love that! I may make up bumper stickers that say that…..Imus is such a freak! I can just imagine their dinner parties….
thought about that melina, too. sometimes truthout.org publishes his pieces a few days later…
morning all. a few more minutes of daylight every single day, we’re headed for spring.
ncblue comment:
medical marijuana is good. marijuana for relaxation and fun is good. hemp is good. meth is BAD. puts your brain in a permanently depressed state so when you stop taking it, you have to cope with depression. your teeth fall out and you look like shit and you’re only 21 years old. people who make or sell meth are creeps.
Melina, WWID was a post on the Laura Flanders blog by YBNurmal on Sat night. I thought it was hilarious.
Also Meth “labs” are houses that become permanently contaminated by the chemicals used. Often the houses are resold and the new tenants are not told of what was there before…you can apparently get sick from the chemical residue….does anyone have that link to the pics of the prostitute meth addict? A cop photographed her over time as she was arrested. It is so scary how quickly she physically rots….its bad, bad stuff…
Isi- I love that….its so perfect on so many levels….
foggyblue, I say, it was a joke, son. A pun. A sarcastic reference to poverty and illegal get rich quick schemes. Drugs would be made legal if the rethugs could find a way to extort campaign contributions from them.
I think on Indian reservation there is a lot of pot. I don’t know, but that’s what I think. There isn’t a lot of regulation on their land. Maybe somebody could help me figure this out. Anyway, where do you think all the medical Marijuana comes from?
Yeah, couldn’t sleep
Okay, okay, new topic. How about Iran. Where is this situation headed? Is oil going to hit 100 $ a barrel? Beats me.
Why the hell are dip-shits on the Span saying that the reason for Ford and Gm’s downfall is from pensions, healthcare and Unions; not their horrible reliability, gas milage and over-all bad design. With the cost of oil expecting to increase, auto makers come out with these remakes of muscle cars that are gas guzzlers:40: makes me think the guys at the top are:40:
Get with the neocon program, Travis. If they can’t blame the auto industry downfall, or any other industry for that matter, on the workers than who can they balme? Not the rethugs in power. Oh no, that would be too close to the truth to allow that. I for one wouldn’t consider buying an American-made auto. No reliablility.
Charles Goyette is talking about Iran now and the unbelievable attitude amoungst many folks that may very well get a war started.

I just had to turn off stephanie miller, who I listen to, sometimes in the morning. she is obsessed with playing back particularly obnoxious right-wing material from the previous night. she devotes an entire hour to it. between her and franken (who does the same thing), I sometimes think that AAR is devoted to increasing the right-wing’s audience. (no such thing as bad publicity.)
one of the things I loved about MS was that they actually created affirmatively great material, rather than taking this tired old tack of just responding to whatever the right-wing does.
AAR and the dems–they are both just reactive and lacking in imagination. :rant1::fustrate:
february can’t come fast enough.
ncblue, sorry, i’m just waking up, didn’t get the irony at all, thx for the explanation.
re your message about illegal drugs, i think the rethugs have figured out how to make money off of illegal drugs (you know, afghanistan and iran-contra, etc.) and have figured out how to terrorize us for the last 70 years with their stupid war on drugs at the same time.
most of the republican ranchers in my area grow a little pot to make ends meet, even the ones who send their kids to evangelical christian schools. i don’t think our rural area is any different than anywhere else in that respect.
ten years ago my husband and i rented an office in a two-story building for our software business, and upstairs was an apartment. a family moved out and two guys moved in. our office downstairs started getting strong waves of chemical smells. one day i was talking with one of the two guys out in front of our office and asked him about the strong chemical smells and he looked right at me and said, “oh, you must mean the meth lab we have” and laughed but he kept looking carefully at me when he said it. i have to admit meth was not ever for an instant on my mind as a reason for the chemical smells. a couple of days later the guys moved out. i asked the landlord what was left behind. he said the apartment was clean. so who knows. but everytime i hear about meth explosions i think back on that time.
Try Charles dlp67!
by the way, I LOVE the ranting smiley.

kristapea, who is charles?
I have to admit, Foggyblue, that I get a little paranoid about my neighbors and their Meth seeping through the walls.Or explosions in the middle of the night. Meth is a horrible, horrible substance
GOOD MORNING, FELLOW BLOGGERILLUMINATI !!!
HOW U DOIN’ ???
QUESTION: Does anyone know where I can get an AAR feed for WMP 9? I don’t use RealPlayer and I will NOT upgrade WMP to Version 10.
It’s Bascombe everybody. BASCOMBE! how you doin’ man?
Charle Goyette is our local AAR guy. He is now asking the question, Who(the hell) is beating the drum for war with Iran? He is independant and has been outspoken against the war since the idea first surfaced. He is amazing at debating the repugs that call in. He uses pure logic and reason and I have learned a lot about how to approach them.
http://www.1010kxxt.com/home.php
Charles may very well go national.
ARMED FORCES FOR SENIORS FULL VERSION
I’m over 50 now and the Armed Forces say I’m too old to track down terrorists. You can’t be older than 35 to join the military.
They’ve got the whole thing backwards. Instead of sending 18-year-olds off to fight, they ought to take us old guys. You shouldn’t be able to join until you’re at least 35.
For starters:
Researchers say 18-year- olds think about sex every 10 seconds.
Old guys only think about sex a couple of times a day, leaving us more than 28,000 additional seconds per day to concentrate on the enemy.
Young guys haven’t lived long enough to be cranky, and a cranky soldier is a dangerous soldier. If we can’t kill the enemy we’ll complain them into submission. “My back hurts!” “I’m hungry!” “Where’s the remote control?”
An 18-year-old hasn’t had a legal beer yet and you shouldn’t go to war until you’re at least old enough to legally drink. An average old guy, on the other hand, has consumed 126,000 gallons of beer by the time he’s 35 and a jaunt through the desert heat with a backpack and M-60 would do wonders for the old beer belly.
An 18-year-old doesn’t like to get up before 10 a.m.
Old guys get up early every morning to pee.
If old guys are captured we couldn’t spill the beans because we’d probably forget where we put them. In fact, name, rank, and serial number would be a real brainteaser.
Boot camp would actually be easier for old guys. We’re used to getting screamed and yelled at and we actually like soft food. We’ve also developed a deep appreciation for guns and rifles.
We like them almost better than naps.
They could lighten up on the obstacle course however. I’ve been in combat and I didn’t see a single 20-foot wall with rope hanging over the side, nor did I ever do any pushups after completing basic training. I can hear the Drill Sergeant now, “Get down and give me…er..one.”
And the running part is kind of a waste of energy. I’ve never seen anyone outrun a bullet.
An 18-year-old has the whole world ahead of him. He’s still learning to shave, to actually carry on a conversation, and to wear pants without the top of his butt crack showing and his boxer shorts sticking out. He’s still hasn’t figured out that a pierced tongue catches food particles, and that a 400-watt speaker in the back seat of a Honda Accord can rupture an eardrum.
All great reasons to keep our sons at home to learn a little more about life before sending them off to possible death.
Let us old guys track down those dirty rotten cowards who attacked our hearts on September 11. The last thing the enemy would want to see right now is a couple of million old farts with attitudes.
Share this with your senior friends.
(It’s purposely in big type for us)
Update–the army raised its age limit to 39

Give Bush A Brain Game
:rofl2::sammy:
Hey Bascombe! I think Goyette talked about that once. And it seems to me that a big part of terrorist tracking involves the internet. Old guys can do THAT!
I’m doing OK, Travisdem04, but I’m watching the DLC/Corporate takover of AAR, just when the real left needs a strong voice.
MIke Malloy’s last show was Friday. I missed it because I get my son on weekends.
I can’t take Riley. He’s vacuous, barely knowledgable and syncopantic. Rachel is getting on my nerves, too. Elitist, condescending and anti-male. I wake up grumpy without my Morning Sedition, but at least it helps me get angry enough to perform my morning excercise ritual.
Other than that, life is good. What ain’t good, I’m working on.
Hey Kristapea! I’m ready to go if it saves my son from this generations-planned war. I’m not 60, yet.
2…even Dubya would have trouble describing that performance….
Well, I think on that great score I’m off to bed. Oh, I had a high score of 5. Top that! I think I lost brain cells playin’ that game. Thanks, Chris, just what I needed.
now, bascombe, i don’t agree that rachel is anti-male. so there!
as for older folks going to war, I know lots of old farts who say they’d LOVE to go. Talk about a grumpy army, though!
re Iran: folks in the middle east (normal ones, now) have for a long while believed that israel will bomb iran. Iran wants Israel G-O-N-E so Israel has little choice but to see that iran doesn’t go nuke. from what i’ve read, though, iran is in compliance so i get soooo confused. anyhow, i think what IS interesting is that we’ve tilted the power balance towards Iran. They have more control in Afghanistan (alliance with northern alliance, you know, those guys we also backed) and Iraq where millions flooded the boarders after we took out Baghdad (albeit temporarily!). So now Iran has control of three countries instead of their one, all thanks to the Bush Crime Family. So now if Israel bombs ’em, i fear the proverbial sh*t will hit the fan. :omg:
Is that the knee stuff? Or is that someone else? Yup, I’m gone.
Got a few more pictures from Tokyo, and added them to what we already had. You can see them here (I just put them all on one page, so if you’re on dialup, I apologize).
Coolness, I’m still up!
AAR and its affiliates started a program where the advertisers on the stream pay a much reduced rate ( supposedly as low as $3.00 per add) as compared to the advertisers that are on the air. The local stations typically have a bunch of their own advertisers and were filling in the gaps with AAR generic adds but with the new scheme you sign up for adds on the air and on the stream separately so the music is just fill for the non existent net advertisers. AAR had a lot of music on the stream this weekend.
Hey FarmerKat!
Yeah, I’d definitely be part of the Grumpy Army. I’d nag them to death!:rant1: IRAN and N.Korea are lost causes, thanks to diplomacy-by-Bolton. This collection of assholes will leave the planet a smouldering cinder with nuclear afterglow…. unless we stop them.
The Canadian election will be a referendum of the corporate destruction of western civilization for profit. With the huge downsizings going on in Europe and North America, democracy is on it’s last legs globally.
Good Morning :sheep::sheep:le:
I am eagerly awaiting the “Marc Maron Show” news. The Conan spot reminded me of how much I rely on Marc to give me some comic perspective. (I kind of wish he had gone to satelite radio and had a real morning show.)

PJ, that last photo of Jason, Tom T., and Gajinda all together is so terrific. Can you send that photo to Marc? His Tokyo Seditionists.
Also, Sean posted a good picture of himself yesterday. What a cutie.
Actually, Jason fwd’d me an e-mail he sent to Marc that had all of those pictures (and a couple more).
bascombe, i like your theory that us old farts ought to join the army. :rofl2:
you might want to consider this: 50% of the army will be women. i don’t think rummy or bush would have the courage to address troops who are 50% grumpy old guys and 50% menopausal grouches. imagine how we would have responded when w showed up in his codpiece and cute flyer’s suit and announced to us that combat operations were over. whew.
pj thx for the new improved collection of tokyo meetup pics!:banana::billcat::billcat::peace::peace:
By the way, if you’re trying to make a link using the link button, and it isn’t working, the link syntax looks like this:
<a href=”http://www.whatever.com/”>This is the link to whatever</a>
The above would look like this:
This is the link to whatever
Also, if you’ve ever tried to e-mail one of these gigundus links to somebody and it doesn’t work ‘cuz their e-mail client breaks the link up (AOL is notorius for this), you might want to try something like tinyurl, which will make a big long stupid-looking link into a much shorter stupid-looking link. You can add a toolbar to your web browser for it, or, better yet, use FireFox and add the tinyurl extension. With that, you can just right-click anywhere on a page, and you can have a tinyurl added to your clipboard for copying and pasting.
For instance: http://tinyurl.com/9ewb9 will take you to the BBC story that Ford is laying off 30,000 employees and closing 14 North American plants.

Doh! Bush bounce boinked.
Thanks for that Ben Sargent cartoon (CLICK ME), NCBLUE! Special. And Kristapea’s comment got me to thinking:
The rolls of flab the cartoonist depicted on Bush ARE ACTUALLY THE WAY BUSH SEES HIMSELF! That’s Bush’s own body image that the Usurper carries around in his own foggy mind which is why he exercises like a fool to feed his own vanity. (That and, by now, his addiction to endorphins too, I guess.) Just one more example of the Usurper’s total lack of empathy (even for himself) and lack of any grasp on reality!
I can’t wait to hear about Marc’s new show. Too bad the Seditionist mailing list can’t get a “heads up” on the info this afternoon.http://morningseditionists.com/msblog/wp-images/smilies/fire.gif

What’s this about Klein dissing Maddow? Did I read that post correctly?
If that’s the case, I’m going to have to interpret it as a proof that the Liberal to Conservative (Left to Right) Continuum is no longer a valid one. What we now have is Corporatists and Populists and all fits on a spectrum between those alignments….Spread the word….

If you would like to sign the John Kerry petition to keep Alito off of the Supreme Court you can go to http://www.johnkerry.com/action/alito .
The signers of the petition will be entered into the Congressional Record when he takes the floor in opposition to Alito. In his email he said, “We have no reason to be hesitant in fighting to keep Alito off the Supreme Court.” I hope that means filibuster, too.
Well, darn I have no idea why that link didn’t work. It worked when I tried tried it out beforehand. Oh, well maybe you can find the petition by going to JohnKerry.com.
Afternoon, Morning Seditionists,
I have had a huge learning lode this weekend after joining this crew  All this info and recipes, too. I took my ancient, martini :alc:drinking aunts to see “Syriana” :omg: and now they want to join the revolution. The 87 year old said “no one would expect me”. I had to remind her about “The Angry Grannys” who got cuffed for demonstrating outside the army recruiting office at Times Square. Since I teach high school, I try to sway young minds, too. I’m not just all about the AARP posse.Someone is sending me info about a really great St. Patrick’s Day Alternative Parade for progressives that takes place close to Marc’s Queens stomping grounds. I’ll post it soon.:jesus:
This is the first chance I’ve had to browse Morning Seditionists, and I am impressed. Lots of great links, guys! Thanx!
Wish I’d come sooner so I coulda known Marc was on Conan; and my old laptop is way too slow to download the link of the video of it. But I’m writing it down so I can come back when I have access to more cyber-speed.
I really CAN imagine Maron doing benchmark work on latenighttalkcomedytv! He is a phenomenal interviewer, a true natural — something latenight TV has not had since Carson ended the era started by Steve Allen, Jack Paar and Dick Cavett. Maron would continue where those greats left off!
Sure am looking forward to more news on the new The Marc Maron Show. And I agree with those who’ve said it isn’t a wildly crazy funny in-your-face title for a show. Maybe we can just tack on our own pet names for it, like The Marc Maron Show AKA Maron Lives! etcetera etcetera etcetera….
Again, thanks for this great site to all those who make it possible! I salute you, brave and clever Seditionists!
isi, I just tried to sign the kerry petition, and it kept refusing to do it, saying I hadn’t filled out all the fields, when I had. :fustrate: I am going to try again later.
This was what I was going to say, in the space where you can add your comment:
Samuel Alito favors a unitary executive power which is so broad as to violate our constitutional separation of powers. His writings and judicial record show that he is hostile to the individual civil liberties set out in the Bill of Rights. This nominee is easily as far outside the mainstream of American jurisprudence as Robert Bork. Please protect our Constitution and do what is necessary to keep him off the Supreme Court: don’t just vote against this nomination, filibuster Alito!
thanks for the info, anyway.
I finally got the kerry site to work.
just in case some of you haven’t gotten the moveon.org email about personal delivery of alito petitions, here is (sorry if it’s too long!)
Dear MoveOn member,
Last week, Senator Dick Durbin, (whose job in the Senate is to organize Democrats on key votes) publicly revealed that there may be “enough votes to sustain a filibuster” against the Alito nomination.1 Now, senators are listening very closely as they gauge public reaction and make their final plans. So today, we’re unveiling a powerful new way to show our senators how passionate about this nomination their constituents really are.
It’s called a Personal Petition Delivery. We’ve collected over half a million signatures and comments along with almost 100,000 personal letters opposing the Alito nomination. Now you can go online and print out a unique selection of the signatures and letters from your state and deliver them personally to your senator’s office.
If thousands of us show up one at a time, each representing dozens of others, it will make a huge impression during this critical week. You can get your unique selection of petition signatures and letters—and even find the shortest route to the nearest senate office—right now, at:
http://political.moveon.org/alito/deliver/?id=6692-1751800-oEffyWkD3q5r_LWir_tbQg&t=2
A personal petition delivery is easy to do. Here are some tips to make sure it’s a success:
Consider writing your own letter to deliver along with the other materials. It can just be a paragraph or two expressing why you personally feel that Alito is the wrong choice to safeguard our rights.
When you arrive at your senator’s office, just explain to the receptionist that you are a constituent and a volunteer with MoveOn. Tell them you would like to give the senator your letter and pass on the signatures, comments, and letters of other constituents, all strongly urging him or her to oppose Alito and do what it takes to keep him off the Supreme Court.
Then just hand off the materials—and you’re done!

I sent comments like that to the entire senate judiciary commitee.

Why did you not mention Alito’s joining the racist. sexist, homophobic alumni organization? I did.
bascombe, you’re so right. cap is a horrible organization and he bragged about belonging to it in order to get a job in the reagan adminstration. my bad.
dip67, I kept having the same problem. So I tried it without the personal note and it worked. You have almost the exact sentiments I have about the need to keep him off the bench. Thnaks for the moveon.org link. My two senators carry Bush’s water.
:sammy:why dont you go choke on a kiwi you curly haired sad sack

:spank:Kerry ughhhh
Morning (pst) again. Good discussions!:omg: Glad to see that Kerry has found some spine. The Alito/conservative packing of Supreme Court is an issue that can fly. Support for rejection can be found throughout the body politic–including among Republicans, Lincoln Chaffee. Let’s win this goddamn thing.:peace:
The anti-Supreme Court packing support sort of reminds me of another issue. I realized a long time ago that the Palestine Statehood issue, based upon UN242, has a great deal of support in this country. The tragedy is that the support could not be galvanized to challenge the status quo.

Excerpt from Paul Craig Roberts’s Cheney’s War Workshop Plots Another Attack.
. . .Unlike Israel, which does have nuclear weapons, Iran is a signatory to the nuclear non-proliferation treaty. Under the treaty countries are permitted nuclear energy. Inspections make certain no weapons are produced. Iran agrees to abide by the treaty and to have the inspections.
Israel, however, and its neocon allies in the Bush administration, claim without any evidence that Iran is making a bomb. The nuclear inspectors find no evidence of a weapons program. Israel and its neocon allies reply that once Iran has the know-how for nuclear power, it will be able to make the material from which to make a bomb, therefore, Iran must not be permitted its rights under the non-proliferation treaty. Since Iran refuses to give up its treaty rights to develop nuclear energy, Israel and the neocons maintain that Iran’s facilities must be bombed and destroyed.
Americans will pay a heavy price for Israeli paranoia.
The entire world knows that Israel cannot bomb Iran without US weapons and cooperation.
A US attack on Iran would be another instance of naked American aggression against a Muslim country. Aggression is a war crime under the Nuremberg standard established by the US. Such an attack would further isolate the US as a rogue country. It would further inflame the Muslim world against the US and Israel, making any settlement of the Palestinian issue emotionally impossible for Muslims. . .

Hey! Someone (Farmerkat?) should compile a gypsy Morning Sedition cookbook. I will buy one.
:peace::sdavid:
:banana:i dont cook but i will buy one too can i illustrate it? actually we should let quiet girl illustrate it
isi, i edited your comment by removing the period at the end of the link address (www…..alito.) and the address now works. here’s your comment with the correct address for the kerry petition opposing alito:
i signed the kerry petition and added a couple of short sentences in the comment box and everything worked fine. maybe the petition isn’t set up for lengthy comments? just a guess.
:bow: Thank you, Thank you, foggyblue!
isi, I fixed the link in your original comment, too. My comment was that they need to do more than just vote against him, but stop his nomination in any way possible – filibuster if necessary. There’s not much point in fearing the “nuclear option.” If they’re afraid to use it to stop the likes of Alito, then the filibuster is, for all intents and purposes, already nuked.
found this on the rachel maddow blog & thought it worth cutting and pasting for our humble blog:
AAR: Screw exisiting fans, push away new ones
As with the ridiculous XM/Sirius debacle and the cancellation of Morning Sedition, Air America once again gives a pie in the face to their existing fans while making damn sure that no one new will start listening.
A few of us lefties may be dumb enough to sign up for your premium service, but there’s no way that folks like my dittohead brother or Fox-News-watching buddy will pay for left wing radio. As it stands, both of them subscribe to the free podcasts and then call me to argue. Rachel, Randi and Malloy are finally getting through their thick Republican hides, but that will change when the free downloads go away.
At some point, Air America needs to realize that they’re more than a profit line. Widely heard left wing viewpoints saves lives (eg Katrina and the Sago Mine) and may even help save our republic (assuming it’s not too late).
And Danny: if money is all that drives you, you might want to check out Google’s stock price for an example of what offering a free, widely-used service could get you.

i’m not surprised that a study like this has to take place outside of the united states. can you imagine the plastics industry response to the study?
i’m already starting to look at my plastic mugs and water bottles and lined tin cans with suspicion. :paranoid::yuck:
Pre-October Non-Surprise
The Goon Show of Bush and Bin Laden
By CHRIS FLOYD
Let’s see now: President dropping in the polls; impeachment talk over illegal wiretaps gaining traction; majority of Americans now supporting withdrawal from Iraq; Abramoff scandal reaching into the White House; big push starting for war with Iran; the Bush gang reduced to defending their crime, deception and despotism with their last, threadbare card, the “terrorist threat”…..
Why, yes, I think it’s about time for a guest shot from Osama!
And so the deadly symbiosis between that dynamic, death-peddling duo, Bush and bin Laden, goes on. And as usual, the timing — even the wording — of the terrorist’s bloviation falls, with eerie perfection, into lock-step with Bush’s political needs. As noted above, the only way Bush can justify his now-open establishment of a de facto dictatorship — arbitrary rule by “the unitary executive” — is by the constant, hysterical invocation of a terrorist threat. To meet this threat, to preserve “our way of life,” says Bush, we must shred all of our inherent liberties, our inalienable rights, our constitutional freedoms, our centuries-old system of checks and balances; we must give all power to the Leader, who will protect the only thing that matters: our skin. This is of course a cynical and absurd argument; no terrorist attack, no matter how massive, could destroy the American republic. This can only be done from the inside — and only by the deliberate choice of those in power. At every turn, the Bush gang has sought to instil a blind, quaking, automatic fear in the American people, so that when they hear the word “terror,” they jump to the Boss’s tune, they run for cover and burn the Constitution to keep them warm in their hidey-hole. It’s been a remarkable exercise, really: the attempt to create a polity of cowards.
And if there is another terrorist attack in the United States — as there certainly will be, given the fact that the Bushists deliberately allowed bin Laden to escape capture at Tora Bora in 2001 (more on this topic here next week), and have swelled the terrorist ranks with their murderous war in Iraq — the last vestiges, the last pretenses of American civil rights and individual liberty will be stripped away. . .

Has anyone been keeping track of my recipes? I only started doing it in the last month of the show. If someone has all of them I’d be happy to compile a cookbook. I can’t sell it because I stole about half the recipes from other sources.
Today’s cooking subject, not precicely a recipe, is for roasted veggie stew. This is good for non-leafy veggies. You take whatever you have (I love carrots, parsnips, rutabagas, other root veggies and broccoli, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, etc. work well, too. But the non-root veggies have to be done in a separate pan as they take less time too roast.) Clean ’em, cut ’em into equal sized pieces, put ’em in a roasting pan, drizzle ’em with olive oil and sprinkle with kosher salt if you want to. Heat oven to 375-400 (my oven has a 20 degree bounce so I have to go with ballpark temperatures…) Roast the veggies, stirring frequently (like every 10 minutes or so to keep them from burning) until they are soft and caramelized. Root veggies take 45 minutes to an hour. Asparagus takes about 15 minutes. To roast onion, peel the first papery layer off the onion, drizzle with olive oil, wrap in aluminum foil, and roast for about 35 minutes per onion. For garlic, you slice a little of the top off a head, leave the papery cover on, and follow onion directions. Tomatoes are a whole different world but they’re great roasted. Halve the tomatoes, de-seed as well as you can, lay in a single layer on a cookie sheet, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with herbs you like, then roast for about a half hour. When all your veggies are roasted, combine them in an ovenproof casserole, Top with breadcrumbs or cracker crumbs (matzoh meal if you’re so inclined) and dot with butter, sprinkle with grated cheese (Parmesan is my favorite but that’s just me) and heat in oven until cheese is bubbly and topping is starting to turn golden.
This is what I had for dinner last night and I’m so sorry I didn’t bring lunch today!
I watched Kerry last night on ABC and I have one question. Where is the guy who ran for Pres as a Dem in 2004? Cuz that guy wasn’t him. The guy on ABC was way too sure of himself, way too unafraid, way too full of personality. I’m suspicious.
Any idea when this Marc Maron Show announcement is due? Is it going to be during MR? Or do I just have to sit in my car all night to listen?
hey foggy, I’ve read similar things in the past. it’s hard as hell to not use plastic – i try. endometriosis has some connection to environmental contaiminants, including dioxin, which also has an estrogen componant. I’m not a scientist and can’t properly connect the dots for you, but as one of millions with endo, i can tell you i pay attention and read these studies. Thanks for the post.
Where can I find the link to the video of Marc’s appearance on Conan? I want to send it to a friend.
here you go hip hop with a message
In fact, I have more in common with most working and middle-class white people than I do with most rich black and Latino people. As much as racism bleeds America, we need to understand that classism is the real issue. Many of us are in the same boat and it’s sinking, while these bougie Mother-Fuckers ride on a luxury liner, and as long as we keep fighting over kicking people out of the little boat we’re all in, we’re gonna miss an opportunity to gain a better standard of living as a whole.

Yes: the Bush Doctrine – Perpetual war to preserve petpetual peace. After Rumsfeld finishes breaking the manpower in the military, only nuclear options are left.
With the current state of intelligence gathering, the United States will launch pre-emptive nuclear strikes on every Pizza Hut and Porn Website in North America.
Over there on the right, under multimedia, the link the says, Marc on Conan Jan ’06.

Gypsy, I didn’t save all of the recipes, but I do have quite a few.
CARACAS, Venezuela (Reuters) – Venezuela’s vice president on Monday told top U.S. Republican Sen. John McCain he could “go to hell” for suggesting that “wackos” were governing the oil-producing South American country.

I wish some Dem polititians would support Chavez.. It would at least make a good diversion tactic during the 2006 elections to keep the Rethug slime off the air.
yay its fixed:banana:
Farmerkat, you are a goddess! I’ll email you once I get home and we can start working on this cookbook thing. Think Marc and Jim (and maybe even Brendan) will mind me using their pictures for the cover? I’m thinking it’ll be a booklet, not a book, and I’m open to suggestions for blog posts to include. I wish I’d thought of this months and months ago, but back then I thought I’d be able to get a web page working.
My friend who is about to go overseas just sent out a heartfelt plea. He wants to make sure all his family’s friends are taking care of his family while he’s in Afghanistan. He says that the best way to support the troops is to help their families live their lives safely and happily. I like that this is coming from one of the troops. The instructions on how to support the troops coming from the chickenshithawk righties usually involve “support their Commander in Chief.”
BTW, I love (I mean that in all sarcasm) that he will be training for mountain operations in Mississippi. Makes perfect sense to me. Not! :billcat: (Ack! Ack! Ack! Ptui! Ptui! Ptui!)
im watching the corporation right now good stuff:shock:
Sam Seder is asking us to give another push with our emails, faxs, phone calls to Senators to stop Alito. He said if the Senator is a Republican tell them to vote no, if it is a Democrat tell them to filibuster. He was reading from the NYTimes Editorial today. You don’t need Times Select to read it. It rips Alito. I know, I’m tired of writing, too. But this is the week folks. Go to http://www.nocrony.com where they have all the information you need to contact Senators.
yep the beast is a funny fucker and quite possibly the best thing about my hometown of buffalo ny
BUSH INVADES CHINA :rofl2:
ITS FUNNY BECAUSE ITS BELIEVABLE
Hey Gypsy, I have many recipes you posted too. Maybe you should try to get Marc to contribute his favorite recipes. And Jim too!And anyone else who’ll respond.

re: cookbook: i’ll start pulling them together. i think i have some in word on my old computer (still don’t have a new one) and will try to print and scan those. great that kristapea has some!
I think NC has some, too.
PJ ALERT -> CAN YOU POST A GENERAL PLEA FOR MS’ers to pull out their gypsy recipes so we can recreate this thing? Oh what fun! Sammy MUST be somewhere in the book. :sammy:
I think we need a group effort to pull this off.
Hey everybody!
I have been trying to fax these senators (in CT) and have had no luck with their faxes picking up. I got home late so maybe I missed business hours….I did try at about 9:15 AM…is it possible that Dodd and Lieberman turned off their FAX machines? There was no answer!
I sent paper snail letters but they can take up to 3 weeks because of mail security around politicians….
oh well…very frustrating…
:sammy:are there any recipes that call for stem cells in them? i bet stem cells taste good!!!!!
:fire:Alito!:omg:
I was driving round listening to Al and then Randi today…both went over the Rove speech thing and played the audio, even as I was yelling at the radio “dont play it!” Ive been so mad about that all day…all weekend actually…and I guess Im mad about the bigger picture of the continuous suggestion that Liberals arent patriots and that we dont want to stop terrorism!…I was talking to the radio by the end of it and it was all so sad…and damned if I didnt screw up my audio saving this AM so my plan to listen to ring of fire and rachel from this morning fell through…SO…I switched to Ricky Gervais. I only have the 4 most recent ones but I was walking round and driving round laughing out loud. It wasnt about politics but it was funny, with this guy Carl who sees the world in such a different and nice sorta way…
I was remembering what it was like to laugh every day thanks to Marc…Now I cant even listen to AAR because it all seems so wrong….I really dont like what is happening in general and I feel like AAR is too important culturally, as a liberal force at a time when those outlets have been under fire, to just let it all go to hell because of bad management…damn!
I was just listening to Rachel from this morning and she had a question on Ask Dr Maddow about pay podcasting from a poor student who cant afford to pay. She said that it is not what she would have decided but that at least they were going to allow streaming for the day of the show and you just couldnt download the stream to any player without paying….
I know that Rachel is under contract but just like when Lizz disappeared from Unfiltered and she said nothing, I feel disappointed in her.
I really respected Marc for telling us what was going on regardless of the fact that his job was in danger. And, if all goes well, he still has a job with this network even though he broke the cardinal rule of radio…for better or worse he has a job and they are lucky to have him( I sorta hope that he didnt sign too long of a contract or a noncompete because I have the horrible feeling that AAR may really end up in the toilet before they can eject DG.)
The thing that really bothers me about the media in general, in the past however many years, is that they bow to power and they are so afraid of their access and keeping their jobs. I really respect Marc for keeping his integrity with the people who supported the show…and if he starts with 8,000-18,000 people who follow him, thats not so bad (even tho I expect that its alot more)
what rove speech thing hmmmm i havent been listening to the radio and im pretty sure thats the first ive heard of it well i guess malloy will talk about it ok time to kill ewoks and listen to malloy

Hey, Mimi!!:peace:
Love that you took your ancient aunts to see “Syriana”:omg:(GREAT movie!) — just to let you know it’s RAGING:mad: Grannies (who, yes, are also ANGRY, very, very ANGRY:growl: and therefore :mad:RAGING!).
Raging Grannies started in British Columbia about 20 yrs ago with a group of older women (over 40) who decided to bring attention to local environmental and political issues by using street theater and satire to protest. Raging Grannies shamelessly spoof the “little old lady” stereotype by wearing gaudy flowery hats & big shawls & such to be as colorful as possible and by singing cheeky political satirical lyrics to old standard tunes.:razz::eek::eek:
Raging Grannies groups sprang up all across Canada and gradually spread to the U.S. of A. and now have an international organization where coordinated “rages” are planned for maximum effect. The recruiting station rage which you referred to was one of those actions and was part of ongoing Raging Granny anti-recruitment actions.
My little Syracuse Granny Gaggle went to our local “Military Career Center” just before Thanksgiving to enlist so that some soldiers could come home and we could engage in some woman-to-woman diplomacy with Iraqi women, but they kicked us out and sicced the sheriff on us:spank:. The sheriff was the leader of a local Vietnam Vet group & said he wouldn’t arrest anyone if we agreed not to go back into the recruitment center — we promised not to go back that day:wink:. We did get some nice local media coverage and are planning more actions with the Rochester & Buffalo Raging Grannies.:omg::omg: I think your aunts would be great as part of this movement. I wish I knew who to contact in NYC, but there’s no “directory” for local groups but somebody usually knows somebody somewhere, so I put the word out on the Granny E-vine  and asked if anyone knows who to contact.
Contacting local Peace organizations and asking if they have any contacts for NYC Raging Grannies may help. I think my Rochester sister grannies:cool: may possibly have some NYC contacts and have also inquired there. E-mail me at chris.sauter@gmail.com if your aunts are interested and I’ll let you know what I find out.
Viva la Revolucion!!:alc::nixon::peace:
:billcat:Granny Chris:billcat:
I have mixed feelings about the pay for premium service. I don’t know that I will pay for anything except Marc’s show if I can’t catch the stream. You get slapped with so many little monthly bills for all these different forms of media and I’m trying to get rid of monthly bills. Plus I am so disenchanted with AAR still, that to have to pay for it is like adding insult to injury. I’m having a hard time telling people to listen to AAR w/o voicing all the reservations I have about it anymore. It’s really stupid to alienate your base when you’re trying to grow.
I have lost my writings twice :growl::growl:
Therefore to minimize:!::
I AGREE WITH Kristapea:!::!::!:
RADIO is FREE. Most of us were here since AAR’s beginning:!: I feel that I am being USED and do not want to GIVE MORE AND MORE! EXPLAIN:!::!: or I will wait till ITunes or go back to KGO.
And not everyone can so freely GIVE MORE $ (Money). for 15 $’s I can feed for weeks the STRAYS that need my lil money I have and not NEED to hear more “preaching to the choir”. Keep asking for MORE MONEY, which I DO NOT HAVE:!:
AAR, Marc was soooooo important that besides the DAILY TRAUMA of this stupid 👿 bush and his :evil:administration MARC gave THE FUNNY which made this seldom smiling Woman LAUGH:!::!::!::!::!::!:
Melina has discovered tha magic of Karl Pilkington.
I’m watching a PBS show on John and Abigail Adams. It’s very inspiring.
THX jgraz via Farmerkat THX …I just read your earlier blog and I so agree re not getting XM:!::!::!:
