Big day ahead of us today; the garbage bags in the garage has gotten to the point where it’s us or them, so now that I’ve finally got the wood pellets unloaded from the van, I guess it’s a field trip to the dump tomorrow. Now that I’m around during the day, my wife makes me go with her. I don’t know why; she’s the one who’s pals with all the dump dudes, with the “hey buddy, wutt’s up?” stuff and all.
Hey, y’all, Gypsy is trying to recreate her recipes into a book (or at least booklet), so if you have any saved up, post them as comments under the “Gypsy’s Recipes” page.
I thought this post from yesterday’s blog was worth repeating:
found this on the rachel maddow blog & thought it worth cutting and pasting for our humble blog:
AAR: Screw exisiting fans, push away new ones
As with the ridiculous XM/Sirius debacle and the cancellation of Morning Sedition, Air America once again gives a pie in the face to their existing fans while making damn sure that no one new will start listening.
A few of us lefties may be dumb enough to sign up for your premium service, but there’s no way that folks like my dittohead brother or Fox-News-watching buddy will pay for left wing radio. As it stands, both of them subscribe to the free podcasts and then call me to argue. Rachel, Randi and Malloy are finally getting through their thick Republican hides, but that will change when the free downloads go away.
At some point, Air America needs to realize that they’re more than a profit line. Widely heard left wing viewpoints saves lives (eg Katrina and the Sago Mine) and may even help save our republic (assuming it’s not too late).
And Danny: if money is all that drives you, you might want to check out Google’s stock price for an example of what offering a free, widely-used service could get you.

Wishing All a Dance  in your spirit and :rofl2: in your Soul (however one believes).
SeanMS Re naomi klein I know the name but can’t place her, unless she is the model. So remind me who:?:
:fire:
The Senate Judiciary Committee is scheduled to vote today on Samuel Alito.
If you want to sign John Kerry’s letter go to http://www.johnkerry.com/action/alito and your name will be entered in the congressional record when he takes the floor to oppose Alito.
And you can still lobby for senators to vote no and filibuster. You can find information at http://www.nocrony.com on how to do that.
Crunch time this week. It’s not over till it’s over.
via you isi and Farmerkat and first from jgraz, I do so agree and as I said prior to reading that wonderful letter I wrote also — TO SOOOO PROVE M A N Y BELIEVE IN THIS THOUGHT:
1. RADIO is FREE. Most of us were here since AAR’s beginning:!: I feel that I am being USED and do not want to GIVE MORE AND MORE! EXPLAIN PLS or I will wait till ITunes or go back to KGO.
And not everyone can so freely GIVE MORE $ (Money). for 15 $’s I can feed for weeks the STRAYS that need my lil money I have and not NEED to hear more “preaching to the choir”. Keep asking for MORE MONEY, which I DO NOT HAVE for you (that money is for strays)AAR:!:
Marc was soooooo important that besides the DAILY TRAUMA of this stupid 👿 bush and his 👿 administration.
MARC gave THE FUNNY which made this seldom smiling Woman LAUGH :!::!::!::!::!:

I am fading. I am trying to go to bed around 3-ish. …:fire:
Druid, this whole thing is ridiculous. I went to AAR homepage and you can’t find out any information on how much it costs for all their programs unless you give them your vital statistics! Danny Goldberg killed MS and now he’s well on his way to killing AAR. And, the liberal cause be damned.
It’s damned upsetting…I pinned a lotta hopes on AAR, maybe too many. Used to wake up everyday looking forward to MS. Now I hardly give AAR a thought except to wonder what the hell is wrong with them….
I would set my alarm for 4:50 am (CST). That would give me enough time to make coffee and be ready for “Hi’, I’m Marc Maron, it’s six past the hour and THIS is Morning Sedition.” 😥
I agree, I agree,
Radio should be free.
But :sheep:le, :sheep:le,
What about TV?
Most of you have cable
(though, notably, not me)
Do you bitch about the payment
When HBO you see?
You’ll pay, you’ll pay,
Whatever Goldberg say.
I’m going to stop these lame rhymes now,
It’s too early in the day.
Yes, it sucks to pay for radio.
And yes, I will pay to hear the funny.
Sometimes life sucks. You deal with it and move on.
I don’t have cable.
Mornin’ everyone. You know this pay thing does suck! I’ll be willing to pay for Maron’s new show though. One more thing. You know The White Rose Society still posts Malloy’s and Hartmann’s shows….what’s that all about?
Hey, Kevin. How’re things in Florida? (That’s where you are, right?)
I do have cable and pay way too much for it. I don’t even watch TV that often.
I like the cartoon. It shows an example of de-evolution.
Nc Blue, that is a good one! Thanks…..I’m gonna post that one….Ha! :sammy:
When Marc comes back on the air, I’m gonna buy some Ovaltine:!:
Gluten Tag Seditionistas. Can we still call ourselves Seditionists now that Marc took to self naming his show?
Hey guys, what’s up? Yeah, in my book we’ll always be seditionists.
Anchor Town is a frozen hell, just thought you might like to know that. Anchor Weather
Krista, I vote yes. It’s a term that kinda defines what we’re about.
BTW, Sam Seder operates his blog outside of AAR. I think he funds it himself so he can decide how it is run. Maybe Maron will want to do that with this blog.
But, Travis, you have Sat to look forward to. It will be Mostly Sunny and 6 degrees! 😀
:40: cheers to that, isi!
Good morning everyone!
I didnt want to sign in to AAR to get the real deal because Im just so mad!….I expect that like all other shows it will be streamed on the day its broadcast and that it can be saved to some program or other. I really like the Replay so far and as long as the wind doesnt kick up and ruin the cable or whatever, Im going to try not to pat.
The thing that interested me about the “announcement” was that it said “hundreds” had signed up already….well, hundreds is just not gonna cut it. Its such a trade off to make a few thousand bucks. I cant imagine that this is a money maker for them….and I understand that they need to make money…but allowing downloading of this content (which is date and news sensitive so really not of much interest to anyone who is not a rabid fan) is a good advertising move. They cant think that they have such great content that the average person is going to look at it and go “oh Howard Dean is on the phone with Randi Rhodes!! Ill subscribe for that!!” This whole thing makes no sense.
I dont think there is anything wrong with signing up for whatever show makes sense because I dont see that any of us doing anything will make or break this idea…its just not a money maker of the type that they need.
Trying to make a radio station into a cash cow in this amount of time makes no sense…if you want to make money and are willing to take a risk then why not get into a hedge fund or something?…Radio takes alot of time and its a long term investment…
Speaking of which, my Mom seems to think that Danny Goldf**k bought into AAR somehow. He must own stock as part of his deal, but she thinks that he actually brough a cash infusion with him. I cant remember the deal because I was so happy in my little world of good shows that I paid no attention to to upcoming shoe problem….oh well…
If anyone finds out how much it is per hour(s) or what the packages are, please post here.
I would pay for Maron but i think he’ll be streaming on the day of each broadcast.
And why no word on his slot or length?
heh…something is not exactly right with that sentence above!
It is so foggy here…really cool graveyard stuff!
Wow Travis! is it dry there like in Montana?
I like the cold…and in my couple of years living in MT it didnt bother me much as long as I was prepared. There is something about dry cold (or heat for that matter) that is much better than this wet, soggy thing we have here in the NE….especially this year!
Does anyone know where to get the first 4 episodes of the Ricky Gervais show?
Well, it’s not really dry in Anchor Town. I’m right on the Cook inlet. Which is in Turnagain Arm(I think, sometimes I get all mixed up)
Fairbanks weather is extremely cold but really dry, so it’s a totally a different experience compared to Anchor Town. It’s hard to explain, but everyone knows that coldness is no good and no fun. Brrrr.
Also…Isi…If Marc would keep an independent official blog I would be happy to chip in to fund it, be it this one or any blog he chooses. Im sure that with a couple of bucks from just who could afford it we could easily fund it foryears to come. One of my music lists had to switch servers and they asked each person to send just a little…when all was said and done it was funded for years…and that was only a thousand people or so.
Id also be happy to help moderate as Im sure others would in a rotatin fashion or whatever, if the job becomes too big for one person. But it will be up to him.
I hope he realizes that keeping a good blog going is really important.
I see this as a big wave of the future to have interactive voices and choice of content….
So, in his same lame ass fashion Kerry’s page to sign this congressional letter against Alito only lets you forward it to ONE friend and it doesn’t allow you to copy and paste what you wrote so you can invite other friends to sign. WTF!
so are the pesticide companies “winning” in this country:?:
Democrats Denounce Bush’s Human Pesticide Testing Plan
Did anyone see this from HuffPo?
What is this magazine? Can one trust it if its the top headline on HuffPo?
Can you believe that anyone is even talking about this with the majority that this adminsitration enjoys currently!
If this starts to happen befpre we can grab some seats in the mid terms, I may just start to feel a little better about America and our government….Its just too good to even see it in writing!!
Morning seditionistas! Are you all in a crappy mood?:rofl2:
Melina, Insight apparently is a very conservative website which links to the likes of Michelle Malkin, the Drudgereport, Washington Times, etc. Strange, isn’t it?
Jason, are you there? If so, how was the meet-up? Does Tom have more Pics he wants to share and what happened with the train incident.
Anyway, that’s scary stuff Farmerkat. I’ve always had this little idea, in the back of my mind, about the government testing on us, or me. Aerial spraying, supposed immunization, etc. Somebody that listens to coast to coast would know more than me about that stuff. I guess I’m just an independent speculative investigator…ISI, is that how you came up with your screen name?
Travis, you got it! 😀
AAAARRRRRGGGGG
If I could go down to the lawn and garden store and buy some Rethug be Gone I would go for a couple of hundred thousand gallons to test on some rethugs I know. With my luck it would cause them to reproduce to death.:rant1:
Didn’t the Nazi’s experiment on people?:no::paranoid:
I was just looking at the Rachel Maddow blog and there is sorta nothing there!…Riley doesnt seem to have a blog, and Rachels has 20 or so comments that are alot of strange comment on Tucker’s horrible show and…whatever…
Could this Impeachment thing really happen…?
Would that be just too good…we could have impeachment parties and declare a holiday to gather round the TV and watch them squirm…ohhh so good!
independent speculative investigator…ISI,
********
:rofl2:
does this happen to you? When you start listening to Al Franken, Brian’s line, “Al Franken, the King of the Jeeewws.” plays in you’re head.
I can’t get the two associations out of my brain.
But, was there anything about how long the show is going to be, exactly what time it’s going to be on when it’s live, if it really is going to be on KTLK (or anyplace else), or anything like that? Just a “congratualtions, we’re gonna let you pay to podcast it?”
I mean, if it’s going to be on KTLK, then I’ll grab their stream (at the risk of getting my hands wet).
Fred, :rofl2:
Here’s the price information folks.
Thanks PJ, I can’t afford much of anything right now. The damn maron’s got me hooked. So, if I can’t listen for free, I’m done with AAR.
hchaddha, thanks!
Golden boy is making a big mistake charging for the archives of the shows. I keep thinking that AAR is going for the Democraps sitting around the pool types and not the people who might benefit from a Hartman History course or a Randi rant. A lot of working stiffs probably work while these programs are on so the only way they have access is via the archives. Stupid … Stupid … stupid.. but hey I would bet Golden boy went to an ivy league business school just like the CEO’s of the fortune 500 , err 499.. err 498 … err 487.. err… did.
I had better post this before it gets below 400..
PJ, I just got a great idea. What if we had emoticons to represent all the sounds that Marc likes to use, like Homers’ scream(Homers’ head screaming) and the automatic weapons(remember when Marc had a trigger finger with that sound?). How would you do “Free Gum!”
I wonder if Marc will do basically the same format and use the same sounds. He’ll probably have new sounds to play with.
Here is a nice little diversion from the American car industry going under and blaming it on the workers pensions….(huh? How about the CEOs packages and parachutes?)
Only in Europe can the advertising industry do really interesting things!
Holy CRAP, HChaddha! That’s not cheap!:omg: I don’t think this idea is gonna last long. You think they did any kind of market research on this??
I was thinking the price would be something like $10-$12 for access to everything. But I guess they only want rich listeners.:jerk:

I’m channeling Alansmitheeee:
I’m still marveling at the stupidity of it all. I’m the kind of person that talks about the things I like to people around me. I like to make cd’s for people and introduce them to cool things. I’m a word spreader but now I can’t afford it.
Goldgrinch is the type of ceo that “Kiss ups, shits down” There are a lot of those idiots around. They wreck people’s lives, go for profit, eventually are fired, because the long-term goals needed for a sustainably profitable company are beyond their capabilities.
That crap is craptastic!:rant1: What are they sippin’? It’s probably the same stuff as the other CEOs.:40:
:rant1:
50.00 dollars/year for ONE show.:40:
Blast from the Past:There you have it folks! According to Mike Dirkx, Thom Terrific replaces Morning Sedition because of low ratings. Does anyone believe that bullshit? I’ll bet it would be easy to verify Dirkx’z assertion.
Hartmann has a well organized band of zealots who began lobbying KPOJ months ago to get a show on here. He spoke at the Unitarian Church in December of last year. Then his followers began circulating bullet points about working towards “Getting Thom on in Portland.”
I don’t begrudge Hartmann the opportunity to get on the air in Portland. I just wish that they had chosen another station (or another time on KPOJ) to do so. 1-4am would have put him in direct competition with George Noory. Give the late night listeners a choice.
:rofl2::omg:
Getting harder and harder to get up in the morning. Maron used to motivate me to be out of bed and walked the dog before “six minutes past the hour”. Now, I snooze until 6:30, and a bit more after catching some Riley.
February can’t come fast enough.
Ciao!
😎
I haven’t made up my mind if KPOJ playing Randi Rant excerpts and Al Franken excerpts for advertising fillers during Hartman’s local show is adding to or subtracting from his listeners.. I keep being reminded of why I attempt to listen to neither.
hey travis – pj added the pics i sent to the tokyo meet-up page. by the way, your mentioning “coast to coast” reminded me:
there’s a shot of me “advertising” the show. just to set the record straight, i’d never even heard of “coast to coast” until jason told us about it. i’m getting the feeling that it’s not something i’d listen to, let alone advertise.
Charles Goyette is talking to a primotologist and he is talking about the Bonobos’!:rofl2: Females are dominant!:rofl2:
He’s also saying that Bush’s swagger is very chimp like and that “people say” that Tony Blair’s walk changes to a swagger when he hangs out with Bush!:rofl2:
One more blast::omg:Don’t delude yourself. Hartmann is a carpetbagger, newly arrived from Vermont. Oh! The show is produced locally.
On a positive note, KPOJ now runs Jesse Jackson’s syndicated show live. Sunday, 5-6am.
Perhaps MS fans can pressure KPOJ to place Rachel Maddow’s in their weekly lineup. We should also request Laura Flanders, Bobby and Mike, Marty Kaplan, Steve Earle…
Speaking of billboards: who has been spray painting the AM 620 stencil over the KXL signs?
Cool Tom, I checked it. I’m amazed that there’s snow in Japan man. Wow.
Coast to coast is a lot of fluff and right leaning:barf:, but sometimes there are real scientists that talk about space travel, like robert zubrin or steven squieres (sp), and it’s fun to listen to. I haven’t listened in a long time though… try it out sometime. The lefties I know don’t care for it all that much. So you’ve been warned.
Nicki … KPOJ has AAR mornings on their stream already.. They also list it on their daily broadcast schedule as well as Ring of Fire and Laura Flanders on Saturday. The Laura Flanders time slot is open on Sunday. I obviously don’t hear the broadcast station but I would assume ( note alternate meanings) that the stream and the live broadcast are the same.
Coast to Coast am supposedly has the largest audience of all the talk radio shows. There must be lots of people up all night. I have to also wonder what the make up of their audience might be.
Coast to coast is a lot of fluff and right leaning ……..The lefties I know don’t care for it all that much. So you’ve been warned.

thanks travis; suspicions confirmed.
Wow, loaded the “premium” page, and there’s a picture of Jerry Springer looking back at me. Now there’s a way to get me to pay.
Unfathomed Dangers in PATRIOT Act Reauthorization
by Paul Craig Roberts
Well, I am still unable to fax my senators a congressman even though I talked to their offices and they said that the fax is working and I have the correct number….At least I sent snail mail and registered my comments on the phone.
I just threatened Lieberman’s job: I said that this nominee clearly doesnt represent even the conservatives in CT and that if Joe doesnt start representing us he will be out of a job!
Of course, Joe probably is deluded enough to think that he will run for President again….and that Bush will come out on the stump with him! What is wrong with these people??
Wow, loaded the “premium” page, and there’s a picture of Jerry Springer looking back at me. Now there’s a way to get me to pay.

My immediate reaction to Springer’s face
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
I have to confess confusion, and not just because I fell asleep on the couch again last night. (I have this winter hibernation thing going on, apparently…)
Is “The Marc Maron Show” going to be podcast only? How could they have gotten Marc to agree to that? If it’s going to be broadcast on a radio somewhere, maybe NickiRose can start circulating those tapes after all.
I’m waiting for Danny-pants to think of charging for access to the blogs. If you think the AAR blogs are low-volume now, just wait for that.
Thanks, everyone, for starting my recipe collection. From now on I’ll add my recipes to the daily blog and also to the recipe blog. I’ll go dig out the ones from Jim Earl’s “dreampage” too. But right now I have 5 minutes to shower and get dressed so I’ll type at everyone later.
Whoa, Senator Leahy ROCKED his opening statement. Cspan will rebroadcast tonight. Among other things, he said this president is in the midst of a radical realignment of the government. He even mentioned King George III in his statement. He mentioned that he had voted for 8 out of 9 Supreme Court Nominees but he said Alito is a bridge too far! He appealed to Republican Senators to vote against Alito and said the Senate should not be a rubber stamp for Bush to pack the courts.
Yeah. Wonder who is going to pay up $50 for a year long access to Jerry Springer :barf:. Even Jerry wont pay up to listen to himself :rofl2:
Maron at $50 might be worth it for those who can afford it. For those who cant, Rachel was saying that the live streaming would still be free and maybe Maron can work out a podcast archive arrangement at KTLK which is accessible free of cost (only needs a harmless registration). Unless of course Danny Goldf**k :growl: doesnt get in KTLK’s way and forces them to remove all the podcast archives from their site which are hosted under the premium section in AAR. :fustrate::fustrate::fustrate:
I was thinking Coast to Coast is a disinformation machine. I think my dad listens to it.
Krista, the show is all in good fun. Most of us know what is B.S. and what isn’t.
listening to Coast to coast is like watching the saturday morning cartoons.(whatever that means)
Let’s chat ’bout somethin’ else.
Arggh, when those numbers on the side dip, I get a little mad. But when I’m the last one to post I get a little upset. So, sheeple, post somethin’ or else you’ll get a full dose of the crazies from me, okay.:growl:
You guys are doin’ this on purpose, aren’t you? You want me to go insane, recover and apologize for it.
Well, it ain’t goin’ done like that. Nope. I’m not going to apologize. What do ya think about that?
Come on man, what I do? Did I do this?
I wish I had a microphone on my desk, so I clould knock it over like Conan.
Give me some time to build up, I’m a little tired.
Hey man I like Coast to Coast!
It’s crazy and full of conspiracy theories and all. The world is gonna end and the aliens are our best friend sorta thing. It’s catchy…..:omg:
:rant1::rant1::mad::mad:
Is that enough travis ??
I’m still thinking that if I go down this road, will I be able to recover? I mean I know I’m not goin’ to apologize, but will I have enough in me to snap out of it. To many unknowns—known knowns, unknown knows and , yes, even unkown unknowns. It boggles the mind!!
This doesn’t even make sense and my spelling is horrible.
The democrats are doing a good job. Their statements are strong. If they really believe what they are saying I don’t know how they can’t filibuster. Feinstein just said, if you are pro-choice you cannot vote for Alito. I thought she did a good job. Now, Dianne stick by your words and filibuster.
Hey Jason, what’s up man?
I’m still recovering from that little episode up there.
Travis! Hey buddy what’s up! I don’t know what you’re referring to. I’d have to backtrack…I’m doin a little liberal :40:
That’s always good. Wow, I’m stealing that liberal thing, that’s cool.
oh, I see man, you were startin’ to move into madgardener mode huh? :rant1:
I’m tryin’. It’s so hard to come up with all that stuff and I can’t really type that fast either.
You better post a new thing on your blog man…how about a pic of your dog! I didn’t know you had a dog….What’s his/her name?
It’s alright man, I’m slow as peanutbutter at typing. And the funny thing is, at th tokyo meet up, we were talking about our usernames on the blogs. You know TOM T, Gaijinda, and then me, jasonwkinney, I said, why didn’t I just put up my social security number up for god sakes…
She started off as Freska, then it kind of morphed into doober. So, yeah, I’ll post something before I crash, which will be pretty soon. I’ve neglected that site for some reason or another.:fustrate:
I think I know why….:fustrate::rant1::sammy::sheep:
Still ixnay on the radio show idea….?
Damn, Melina is faster than lighning or something. I’ll get there if I keep Bloggin’ it.
SS number:rofl2:
I might as well had….:fire:
Travis: I just sent you the unreleased photos of the Tokyo meet-up! Give it a bit. It’ll be there soon. :fire:
Well, I don’t know man. What’s your plan about that? Have you thought a lot about it?
Remember, we’re talking about Alaska!
I think it could be an interesting adventure. I’m from Iowa dude. It’s not that much different. And, I’ve known some pretty damn liberal Alaskans! :bong:
That’s great! I just checked it.
Dude, got any… Classic.
I’m getting slow with it. Yes, even slower than before.
I’ll work on the blog though, but I can’t put any recent photos up, because I don’t really have any.
Alright man, I think they just were sent… :40:
Coolness, I’ll post ya later.
I’ll think more in depth about the Alaskan airwaves, there just so cold man.
Laters…..:peace:
What’s this:?: are you all saying we will only be able to podcast Marc:?: Please tell me this is speculation…. :omg:
The judiciary committee meeting just concluded and the nomination goes to the floor of the Senate tomorrow.
I have two words for the Republicans:
:priest:Ignominious Ignoramuses
The Republicans spent their time making snide comments about the democrats and how they want to give liberty to the weakest, the unborn. And, the Democrats were factual and I thought strong. Now, to convince them to FILIBUSTER.
Farmerkat : I would suppose you can stream KTLK and listen to Marc that way.
The rethugs are such a bunch of stupid jerks but then so it would appear are a lot of Americans who voted for these guys too.
hey buddies whats up? well i have to hit the road get down closer to atlanta maybe ill see malloy lurking around the truckstop there!!!!! i seriously doubt it though anyway uh druid im talking about naomi klein that wtote NoLogo shes in the documentary the corporation and shes kinda cute and i love her book so i decided that im going to stalk her and since shes canuckian if it all works out i can officially be free of w’s america  it probably wont though and im not getting my hopes up anyway uh later peoples and uh vigilance!!!!!
Yep, this is all specualtion, because the big “announcement” didn’t really announce anything, other than Marc wold be coming to the premium service. No details about the show, or when it might be on, or anything else. I would consider this as typical AAR management wisdom.
First, kill a creative and increasingly popular show. Then, try to assuage some of the animosity you’ve created by alluding to a new show “in the works,” but don’t really say anything about it. Next step, try to get people to sign up for your service by touting a show by the very person you just drove off the air, and don’t provide ANY information about the show.
The only intersting thing about the e-mail was the advert for Kate Clinton, who was an English teacher at my high school (in fact, I had her for a mini ten-week class when I was a junior or a senior). Of course, she was Kathy Clinton then, and she wasn’t a lesbian, because they hadn’t been invented yet. 😉
She looks pretty good, considering I’m not exaclty a Spring chicken here, myself.
Joe Biden left the hearing early today, he voted no by proxy, and said he was on his way to Israel to monitor elections. Is this a convenient way to get out of making a decision on filibustering?
Okay, the story here is that I typed in 3/4 of this post, got a phone call from my boss asking for a gajillion copies of this huge document, and have just now (an hour later) gotten back. Yikes! :omg:
Melina, are you in Oregon by any chance? I’m thinking about arranging another Portland Seditionist outing if there’s interest. Maybe on February 12? An anticipatory celebration?
I forgot to leave the radio on for my dog. Poor pup, he’s not gonna get to listen to any of his favorites. (I recently noticved that when I don’t leave the radio on he tends to be better behaved while I’m gone. I blame Randi for riling him up…nevertheless, I like having the radio on for noise in the house purposes…) But I did leave the TV on tuned to NBC. And there, right there on my TV, on *NBC* being touted as an expert on things inside the Beltway, was the Felafel Man himself, Bill O’Loony. That’s all the networks need, to call that whiny bastard a serious expert on anything except cheesy, badly written softcore porn.
way way to convenient he is basically saying i would rather go protect israels democratic process than stay and fight for my own scumbag im gonna call his office and i dont even support calling the office of senators that do not represent you 😡 whoa thats got me pissed ok well im gonna go run over people now laters people and if anybody sees naomi klein give her my e-mail
:doh:THE FALAFEL MAN yeah im hungry i want some falafel “hey baby why dont you put that pipe down and get my pipe up”:rofl2::spank::barf:
stupid neocons ha ok well im actually going now so uh later peoples
:priest: the bibles book of revelations portends the new Marc Maron show!!!!!!!!!!
excellent way of stating it, sean.
i don’t think you can stream ktwhatever – it looks like they just have highlights. but i can’t imagine you couldn’t hear marc on aar live, for pity sake. i plan on purchasing that handy thing you got pj since it has passed your inspection!
off to wash the dog…..not an easy process.
ps gypsy, i also leave background noise on for the pooches – i figure they hear & see fewer squirrle mirages (can you hear a mirage) which would drive them crazy.
I just checked KTLK’s website – on the home page there is “click to listen live” – plus there is also a podcast link – you can download the show in mp3 format, xml or just listen.
Or there is always Replay Radio
I keep checking the site in case something about Maron’s show is posted. So far nada

Just found this press release about Biden’s trip
January 24, 2006
Press Release
Biden to Israel and West Bank to Monitor Palestinian Election
Washington, DC – U.S. Senator Joseph R. Biden, Jr., the top Democrat on the Foreign Relations Committee, will be in Israel and the West Bank tomorrow, Wednesday, January 25 to observe the Parliamentary elections scheduled to take place throughout the Palestinian territories.
In addition to visiting several polling sites in Ramallah, East Jerusalem and Bethlehem, Biden will meet with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas and Israel’s acting Prime Minister, Ehud Olmert. Biden also will be briefed by Palestinian election commissioners and international observers.
Before leaving late Wednesday night, he will meet with American, Israeli and Palestinian reporters covering the election.
Okay, here’s today’s recipe.
Recipe for 1/24/06
Soybean Lentil Rice Loaf
Serves 4-ish

Schultz is one again trying to discourage his listeners from contacting their senators and asking them to Filibuster Alito .. Use your local stations contact web page and ask them to take Schultz off the air.
:omg: Schultz
Why would he tell people not to call their Senators?
Fred, are you sure that’s what he’s doing? He’s asking each of his guests so far what their opinions are, and he isn’t arguing with any of them. Then again, I’ve had to be back and forth from the radio today so maybe I missed it.
Schultz must have forgotten that our founding fathers were revolutionaries. Randi is on playing clips of the hearing this morning. Call and/or email senators. Push for a filibuster.
i don’t think you can stream ktwhatever
Comment by Farmerkat — January 24, 2006 @ 2:03 pm
Actually, you can. I streamed Stephanie Miller this morning. (Wow, that sounds kinky!)
So Ed Schultz is telling people NOT to call their senators? He must be angling for the seat next to Lieberman in the DINO Room. To hell with him.
FILIBUSTER!!!
IMPEACHMENT!!!
VIGILANCE!!!
:fire:
P.S. Becky, if you’re still reading this far down the thread, you are correct. I’m in Florida. Couldn’t respond earlier because I’m at work and my company frowns on me having any fun during work hours. It pays for my seditionary activities, though. 😉
Hey Kevin M, great job! Your Senator just said he will vote no on Alito!
RAW STORY
Published: January 24, 2006
One of the most conservative Democrats in the Senate, Sen. Bill Nelson (D-FL) today announced he would vote no on Judge Samuel Alito Jr.’s confirmation to the Supreme Court — raising the possiblity of a filibuster, RAW STORY has learned. Just one Democrat has said he’ll vote to confirm Alito.
Does anyone know which faux Democrat it is that’s going to vote yes on Alito? I can’t keep up!
Senator Ben Nelson (D) Nebraska has said he will support Alito.
Grievances and Consequences
The Terrorist in the Mirror
By NOAM CHOMSKY
“Terror” is a term that rightly arouses strong emotions and deep concerns. The primary concern should, naturally, be to take measures to alleviate the threat, which has been severe in the past, and will be even more so in the future. To proceed in a serious way, we have to establish some guidelines. Here are a few simple ones:
(1) Facts matter, even if we do not like them.
(2) Elementary moral principles matter, even if they have consequences that we would prefer not to face.
(3) Relative clarity matters. It is pointless to seek a truly precise definition of “terror,” or of any other concept outside of the hard sciences and mathematics, often even there. But we should seek enough clarity at least to distinguish terror from two notions that lie uneasily at its borders: aggression and legitimate resistance.
If we accept these guidelines, there are quite constructive ways to deal with the problems of terrorism, which are quite severe. It’s commonly claimed that critics of ongoing policies do not present solutions. Check the record, and I think you will find that there is an accurate translation for that charge: “They present solutions, but I don’t like them.”
Suppose, then, that we accept these simple guidelines. Let’s turn to the “War on Terror.” Since facts matter, it matters that the War was not declared by George W. Bush on 9/11, but by the Reagan administration 20 years earlier.
They came into office declaring that their foreign policy would confront what the President called “the evil scourge of terrorism,” a plague spread by “depraved opponents of civilization itself” in “a return to barbarism in the modern age” (Secretary of State George Shultz). The campaign was directed to a particularly virulent form of the plague: state-directed international terrorism. The main focus was Central America and the Middle East, but it reached to southern Africa and Southeast Asia and beyond.
A second fact is that the war was declared and implemented by pretty much the same people who are conducting the re-declared war on terrorism. The civilian component of the re-declared War on Terror is led by John Negroponte, appointed last year to supervise all counterterror operations. . .

Yeah, it seems to be working out well. Beware of the automatic “add” for programs; they may work fine, but they may also have changed (they have a couple thousand show and a couple thousand stations programmed in – podcasts, too – so I bet they don’t get updated in too timely a manner). So, you may have to play around a bit to make sure it’s all set up right (manually add the stations or shows if you know the link to the stream). Also, the last Laura Flanders show downloaded and converted to mp3 as expcected, but it left the real media file too (not a big deal, since it’s easy enough to delete – or even play). This didn’t happen with Mike Malloy or Majority Report last night, so I guess it was just one of those glitch things. Sound quality is great (other than the first “As It Happens” I got off the CBC, but the second one sounds fine, so I guess it was just a one-time problem with the stream).
Also, I had a couple of nights in a row where my computer was locked up, and stuff didn’t record. I had this Prismiq media server running (streams audio, video, and photos to a device connected to my TV and stereo) as well as an automatic disk deframgenter, and I thing the three at the same time was a bit too much. Once I shut down the Prismiq stuff, it’s been fine for the past two nights (knock on silicon).
All-in-all, it’s working out OK. And I just share the directory with my wife, so she can put them on her mp3 player whenever she wants.
It’s my plan to get Marc’s show from KTLK this way, though I might be willing to pay just for Marc, to make a statement to AAR. His show would need to be 3 hours every night, though (wouldn’t seem right to pay the same single-show rate for a one hour show).
Schultz is inferring that a Filibuster would cause Frist to invoke the nuclear option and that that would cause the dems to loose all power to defeat anything in the senate .. I think it would also be a death sentence ( politically speaking of coarse) for the rethugs . Once upon a time the loss of representation caused a revolution around here. The people over at DU want the nuclear option to take place to 1) see if the rethugs have enough votes to do it and 2) to see if the Dems have enough balls to shut the senate down as Reid has said he would do if the rethugs invoked the nuclear option.
Schultz would have made a good member of the French government during WWII
Figures! And for reasons I don’t want to go into, I’m not allowed to say nasty things about Nebraska at work…
Any chance there are any Repigs interested in bucking the party and voting against the servent of evil?
Well, in her statement today, Dianne Feinstein said that if you are pro-choice you cannot vote for Alito. Although Specter is pro-choice and said he is voting for Alito there are other Republican Senators that are pro-choice. Maybe they will think twice before casting a yes vote.

Thanks, isi, for the news! At least there’s one Nelson who’s doing something right!
:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
Not to mention that by Nelson announcing his “no” vote this early, some other centrist Dems might be persuaded in that direction as well.
Take THAT, Ed Schultz! :spank:
I still don’t understand what the point of being afraid of the “nuclear” option is. If you’re afraid to use the filibuster (and remember, this stunt is just for judicial nominations, not for limiting debate on legislation, since they will need to try and make a case that it’s “unconstitutional” to deny a vote on a nominee), then it’s already been taken away. And if it’s already taken away from you, there should be no fear in losing it.
And Alito on the court for the next 30 years is more than enough reason to filibuster.
I don’t know what went on earlier on Shultz’s show but I just heard him tell Pat Leahy that his listeners are crying out for a filibuster, that they think Alito is dangerous. He doesn’t seem to be backing off of the filibuster, but it could be that his listeners jumped his butt and made him change his tune.
i am confused about how to access marc’s new show. just went to ktlk website and signed up to be able to podcast. they already list links to podcast al, randi, majority report, so maybe marc will be added to the list as well. i sure hope that there is a way to get it without going thru aar….can’t wait for it to start….

man from nantucket?
I just sent Bill Nelson an e-mail thanking him for his no vote on Alito and encouraging him to stand strong. (It’s only fair that I complement him when he gets it right.) Will post reply if it’s interesting and/or non-generic enough.
Otherwise…:40: or maybe :alc:
(I bought both beer and wine tonight. Hic.)
I just emailed KPOJ to ask if they’ll be picking up Marc’s show (and commenting that Marc has a loyal and active fan base here in Portland.) Any bets if I hear back and if so, what they have to say…?
they are gonna tell you were sorry to inform you but we will not be carrying the show as it will only be aired in the la market and that aar has no intentions to syndicate or otherwise make the program available outside of the la market and oh shit this sucks im typing a nightmare say its not so say its not so ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh:omg::omg::omg:
SeanMS, stop making yourself crazy! :spank:
There, to you feel better now?
Okay, blog sibs, time for me to head for home. Type at you later.
Hi Gypsy…No, Im in CT, right outside of NYC…so I dont think Ill be Making it to that meetup….sorry:(
:bong: Hello Boat People. We should show as much support as possible to those Dems that voted no. They need to know they have the support of the people to take on the rethugs on the nuclear option. I really believe the rethugs will back down if challenged on this. And if they don’t they’ll get voted out( which will happen anyways:smile:) Now, off to the liquor store for :40:
so uh dont you meateaters out there hate it when you get reminded how bad the meatpacking industry is i know i do so uh here hate this http://www.milkgonewild.com
I always leave a radio on for my dogs too! I also turn one on at night when I crate some of them…music though…
My Boston Terrier, Lola, watches TV and she goes crazy if she sees any dog like creature there, much less a dog, so I stopped leaving the TV on animal planet.
Regarding the Replay….very nice here too. I had to mess around a bit to set it to copy directly into iTunes, but its doing that now and Ill just have to see if iTunes prevents that somehow. I doubt it.
I also have podcaster and that seemed to go screwy along with iTunes podcasts when AAR started to test their pop up sign in box. It froze and crashed my computer more than a few times before I unsubscribed to their podcast feeds.
Im sure that its just the podcast form that they are blocking…but if something is in MP3 form already they cant get into your computer to see the content….can they? I cant imagine it…
Anyway, as PJ says, the shows are set to their own schedules so when you add Rachel’s show its 5-6AM EST, so be careful how you put your schedule together.
All in all its a greta thing with nice sound and once its set up its fantastic as long as the cable doesnt go out.
:rant1:and you know what i was doing when i looked at that? eating ice cream i think im going to throw up:barf:
sean, i think it means that kevin is going to respond to druid’s poem by writing a limerick that begins with the tried and true first line, “there once was a man from nantucket…”

Fighting the Theft of New Orleans
The Rhythm of Resistance
by Glen Ford and Peter Gamble; Black Commentator ; January 22, 2006
“I don’t think it’s right that you take our properties. Over my dead body. I didn’t die with Katrina.” — Lower 9th Ward resident Caroline Parker.
“Joe Canizaro, I don’t know you, but I hate you. I’m going to suit up like I’m going to Iraq and fight this.” — New Orleans East resident Harvey Bender, referring to the author of the city commission’s “rebuilding” plan.
The overwhelmingly Black New Orleans diaspora is returning in large numbers to resist relentless efforts to bully and bulldoze them out of the city’s future. “Struggle on the ground has intensified enormously. A number of groups are in motion, moving against the mayor’s commission,” said Mtangulizi Sanyika, spokesman for the African American Leadership Project (AALP). “Increasing numbers of people are coming back into the city. You can feel the political rhythm.”
Mayor Ray Nagin’s commission has presented residents of flood-battered, mostly African American neighborhoods with a Catch-22, carefully crafted to preclude New Orleans from ever again becoming the more than two- thirds Black city it was before Hurricane Katrina breached the levees. Authored by Nagin crony, real estate development mogul and George Bush fundraiser Joseph Canizaro, the plan would impose a four-month moratorium on building in devastated neighborhoods like the lower Ninth Ward and New Orleans East. During that period, the neighborhoods would be required to come up with a plan to show how they would become “viable” by reaching an undefined “critical mass” of residents.
But the moratorium, itself, discourages people from rebuilding their neighborhoods — just as it is intended to do — thus creating a fait accompli: residents will be hard pressed to prove that a “critical mass” of habitation can be achieved.
“It’s circular reasoning,” said the AALP’s Sanyika. They talk about “some level of neighborhood viability, but no one knows what that means. What constitutes viable plans? What kinds of neighborhoods are viable? Everywhere you turn people are trying to rebuild, but there is this constraint.”
The commission is empowered only to make recommendations, but with the help of corporate media, pretends their plan is set in stone. “They keep pushing their recommendations as though they are the gospel truth,” said Sanyika, who along with tens of thousands of other evacuees has been dispersed to Houston, five hours away. “There is confusion as to all of these recommendations, issued as if they are policy. The Times-Picayune contributes to that confusion. None of this is a given.”
