Or, as my wife will no doubt say, “oh, is that today?”
Anyhow, like most regular Americans, I didn’t get much sleep last night, because I was tossing and turning over the sad news that Sheryl Crow and Lance Armstrong have broken up (all she wanted to do was have some fun :hubba:).
Isn’t there anything out there to help us get some sleep…? :billcat:
Yes! It’s the Sunday talking head shows! This week’s theme: Republicans only.
First, on Press the Meat, Timmy “Potoatohead” Russet shows us his Boehner, and then Arlen Specter drops by to show us that, other than doing whatever the Kristian Konservatives want him to do, he’s a true moderate. Oh, and some asshole from the Wall Street Journal will be there, too.
Faze the Nation will discuss how spying on Americans is actually a good thing, and then recap our bold leader’s glorious SOTU address (or is that, our glorius leader’s bold SOTU address?), with Alabama Senator Jefferson Beau “I say” Beauregard Sessions III (who wanted to capitalize on Hurricane Katrina to rejuvenate his bill to premanently repeal the estate tax, passionately opposed John McCain’s anti-torture amendment – and now supports Dick Cheney’s proposal to exempt the CIA from the torture ban – unsuccessfully prosecuted three civil rights workers on bullshit charges of voter fraud- they were acquitted in four hours – and once labeled the NAACP and ACLU as “un-American,” and “Communist-inspired,” saying they “forced civil rights down the throats of people.”), and Senator Pat Leahy. Hey, how’d Leahy get on? Didn’t Schieffer get the memo? They’ll also have David “Asshole” Brooks from the NY Times, and Karen Tumulty, from Time.
This Week, George Snufalufagus has Ken “I’m not gay” Mehlman on to tell us that Republicans aren’t really a bunch of amoral, unethical, corrupt criminals, and, even if they are, the Democrats are too, so there. Plus, Gen. Michael “Elmer J. Fudd” Hayden will be on to tell us how he plans to lie to the Senate Judiciary Committee on the domestic spying program he designed at the NSA when hearings begin on Monday. Oh, and Olympic gymnast Dominique Dawes will be on because apparently there’s nothing important happening in the world. And of course there’s always ABC’s axis of drivel, Sam Donaldson, Cokie Roberts and George Will.
Fux News Sunday with Chris “Oedipus Wrecks” Wallace does the big work (as usual), investigating whether the outing of the NSA spying program helped the terrorists. Then they, too, pull a Boehner, trot out Gen. Elmer Hayden on to work on his lies some more, and then Surgeon General Richard “Who?” Carmona will be on to tell us, um, whatever.
If you’re still awake after all that, I suggest you start drinking heavily. :alc:
ha ha im #1 again yay:banana:
i didnt think i would have wi-fi in albany ga
:rofl2:he he he boehner
what a friggin name ahhhhh so funny dumb republicans vote for guys named boehner and they wonder why we laugh at them
it amazes me that the rethug qualifications to be a high ranking house or senate figure is to be as corrupt or more corrupt than the guy you replace. This looks more and more like the mafia every day.
I am listening to this pentagon briefing on the Long War on C-span… The rethugs are going to go out and kill the ants with a strip mining drag line.. Don’t think so… such a bunch of stupid stupid stupid fools.
The rethugs anti terrorism campaign is oriented toward both international terrorism and domestic terrorism.. Domestic terrorism seems to be be more oriented toward keeping Americans from taking their country back than people in turbans that might hate us…
The pentagon is still fighting the cold war… such a bunch of stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid stupid fools.
Flanders was talking last night about a contract that The department of Homeland Security was letting to Halliburton ( KBR) to build two detainment camps in the southwest some place. Each camp was supposed to have room for like 5000 detainees. They say the justification was to anticipate a large influx of illegals… Sounds like they sized up the existing FEMA camps ( if they really exist) and determined they were not large enough.
I hope this News Conference is over soon I think i’m going to throw up…:barf::mad::rant1:
Once, I recorded a talk by Noam Chomsky, using a $30 walkman-sized tape recorder. I was way up in the rafters of a downtown Seattle church. Still have the tapes; not a bad recording. I used to circulate copies.
Lesson: Who cares if you are in the 12th row at a Marc Maron show! Record the bastard, and circulate!:jesus:
:nixon::rabbi::nixon:
Here is a link to that article on the detention camps

Some times artists don’t like you to make pirate copies of their work especially if they are making a marketable recording of it themselves.
:nixon:i kick babies down stairs
Good morning everyone…whoever is here….
Sean, when do you sleep?…it seems like youre always awake!
and yeah…Im all broken up about Sheryl and Lance…I thought it was true love. At least I can stop worrying about whats gonna be on People magazine’s cover next week.
I dont know if I have the heart to watch the Sunday shows this week…I may continue with my 24 marathon….its just too depressing.
We are taping for revolutionary reasons.:nixon:
flancat, Well, at least you tried valiantly to speak with the elusive Maron :rabbi:
That’s a really scary story Fred. It seems like everything is falling into place for martial law and stripping us of our Constitutional Rights. 🙁
I’ll see your scary story and raise you one.(Even though I posted this yesterday)
US Plans to ‘Fight the Net’ Revealed

Blog power has been noticed and will be squelched unless we do something.
Pj, your Sunday Cliff Notes have me in stitches!
NOW HEAR THIS:
THE CHICKEN IS IN THE HEN HOUSE. THE CHICKEN IS IN THE HEN HOUSE.
(he made it to the compound in Baghdad – talk about “Blog power!”)
:priest:
Yay! Mr. Farmerkat is sort of safe!
( KBR) to build two detainment camps in the southwest some place.
should do it in Georgia – at Andersonville…
Do you really think they are going to start rounding up all the illegal aliens(who are providing a whole lot of cheap labor) and put them in detainment camps? Unless they make them work in these detainment camps for even lower wages or none at all. You know these are gonna be all purpose detainment camps where they put anyone that threatens their power or doesn’t fit in with their paradigm. Man, this really is scary. But it’s hard to make people understand how scary this is. It’s like they need ominous background music to let them know how to feel.:sheep:
this mangy group of christ-fascists love to sweep up whole hoards of people. It’s one of their badges they can earn for their uniforms. :yuck:
SEAN: Your mission is to get those truck stops to change the channel, for pity sake. :rant1:
the young turks charge for their podcasts, too, n’est ce pas:?:
Kristapea, I just read the BBC story you linked us to. :omg::omg::omg: Oh. My. God. I printed it out to show my husband. Our worst fears are becoming reality before our very eyes. :paranoid::paranoid::paranoid:
You learn an awful lot on this website, I must say.:shock::shock:
Yeah dlp67, how can we fight that? I wish I would’ve become a computer geek back in 1985 but it was so uncool back then.
ditto to fred, for the scary Times article.:omg::omg::omg: wow. the brave new world has arrived.:shock::shock:
at least, mr. farmerkat has arrived at his destination. nice to hear some good news. 😀
I think I’ll go play with my little guy, who is always a good pick-me-up.
krista, you’re right we have to fight back. the internet is the last bastion of true democracy these days.:bow::bow:
oh, good radio, too like our beloved and dearly-departed Morning Sedtion.:bow::bow:
Cripes! Where is everyone!
I’ve been absolutely swamped getting ready for the upcoming hurricane season. Working with the Government of the Cayman Islands on their hurricane plans,as well as projects in St. Lucia and Belize. I work with a lot of international agencies on disaster mitigation and planning. I know US based consultants have somewhat of a bad name (“economic hit men”), but that’s the operations run by huge corporations. This capacity building (training) and assistance in planning that gets maybe 1% of the funding does an incredible amount of good. Sad thing is if we had applied the principles we developed in the Caribbean to New Orleans things wouldn’t have been so bad . . . but FEMA and the Corps hate us since in effect we compete with them for a minute fraction of the price (which they largely sub to companines like KBR and PBSJ).
Also finally got an iPod (4GB nano). Man was that a mistake – gonna take weeks to upload all the stuff I want to put on it! Just uploaded my Blondie selections and just started on the Cars. Anybody want to bet I leave it in my pocket and it gets washed the day after I get it configured the way I want it?
Hey, think I have a shot at Sheryl Crow now that she’s on the rebound???
I clicked to the BBC link. I did not realize how ope ntheir articles were (in that global section). Reminds me of several radical US sites. Does the Washington Post of MSNBC have similar lists of articles?
Our MSM is thoroughly propagandistic.:rofl2:
i sleep as a matter of fact i just woke up:mrgreen:
anyway i need to drive somewhere that i can watch the super bowl so uh later people
:banana:oh ring of fire is friggin great i love this show
ooohhh i love kiera knightley she is soooooo sexy:love:
Bernie Saunders apparently collapsed while attending a funeral for a fallen Vermont National Guardsman.
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060205/ap_on_go_co/congressman_collapse_1
Later on they said he walked to the ambulance so it probably wasn’t really serious.
Prison Planet which I would consider an Art Bell type of source has had a lot of articles about FEMA camps and the like . I have been to a couple of the places they talk about and have seen nothing that would remotely resemble a concentration camp. These detention camps are being reported in the regular media so I would think one should watch whats going on and be prepared to abandon ship or go underground as soon as several prominent dems get bumped off or vanish from the radar screens. I would think that they would come and pick up the leaders first.. although I don’t remember anyone that looks even remotely like they are leading at the moment … hummmm… maybe they know more than it appears they do …
Generally I would think that they would look for the leaders first.. although i can’t remember anyone that look like they are leading at the moment
:rofl2:
Have you all seen the new ad by http://www.moveon.org
It shows Richard Nixon morphing into W.
Hate to hear that about Bernie Sanders. He’s one of the good guys.
So, where do these MoveOn ads get played? I never see them.
it’s official, i guess.
So, where do these MoveOn ads get played?
Raw Story is saying that CNN will play the ad starting Monday.
I have a cardboard pizza in the oven, chips (kettle) and dip, Coke with ice….yeah, that’s about it. I think I’m set.
Seattle what? Yeah, that’s right.
We should have a thread for the commercials
“The all new GMC Yukon!” WTF! Those guys are on in it:40:
The Stones! Half-time:bow::bong:
I think I just saw Melina on the Radio shack commercial:rofl2:
No, the commercial I saw was with an ipod not the camera.
That new Adam Sandler movie is very similar to a Duck Tales episode.
Anybody know what I’m talking about?:billcat:
Guess not, Check it :billcat:
Budweiser:no:
That Burger King commercial is going to mess people up
Mixing woman and food like that. Holy crap.
Hey, I could leave if you guys want to talk about something else. It’s cool. I’m sorry:doh:
Maybe someone will TIVO just the commercials and post them on the net somewhere.. save the agony of watching the fartball game.
Football is barbaric, isn’t it?
i think its the party environment that prevails at football games that makes people want to come to them. A bunch of cows could probably be substituted for the football players and provide as much entertainment as the high priced football players.
Wake me when its over..
That’s a little exaggerated, but sure I getchya:rofl2:
Nimoy paying homage to the Trekies
Except not, ’cause he was probably payed a high price for that alieve commercial.
Anyway, sorry for suckin’ the blog into a hole. I’ll leave now.:fustrate:
I think I just saw Melina on the Radio shack commercial
Comment by travisdem_04 — February 5, 2006 @ 5:33 pm
Melina, thanks for the additional information. If you’re planning to be in Florida in the next couple of weeks, maybe you can come with me when I go in search of the thing. 🙂
boy, I hope bernie is ok. he’s running for the open senate seat, and could add another actual liberal voice. get well soon, bernie!:om:
I’ve been avoiding the whole issue of what kind of ipod or other thing to buy, because of my, um, limitations in that area. but as 2/13 approaches, I realize that I cannot listen to streaming much, and may have to get something or other, to listen to marc. that’s assuming that we don’t have to pay blood money to AAR to listen to the guy that they pushed off the air in the first place.:mad:
maybe, in honor of the superbowl, I should go have a nice cold beer. :40:
I’m not a fan of either team, but the broadcasters are appallingly bad. What the hell happened to Madden? The Refs are screwing this game up to a fare thee well, and they got nothing to say? Did you see an offensive interference, cause i sure didn’t? This game should be over, but thanks to the refs, Pitt is alive.
Maybe there is no pro-bush media conspiracy. Maybe all the media guys are incompetents on general principles.
Our political climate has gotten so much worse than it was in the Nixon era. Bush is far worse (at least domestically) than Nixon was. Nixon was, in many ways, our last liberal president.
:omg::nixon::rofl2:
:fu:George!
Cresttwo, you’re right!
Michelob:no:
Madden has pretty much sucked for a long time now. Where are Pat Summerall and Tommy Brookshire when you need ’em?
And yeah, that was no way offensive interference. And that just now didn’t look like a TD to me.
And I don’t really even care who wins, except for I seem to be pulling for the Seahawks at the moment.
Booooo! The world is a ball of corruption:paranoid:
TD = BS
I like the Seahawks because every time I hear it I think of sea hag and that’s funny.
The Stones rule ’cause they’re not fake!
I cant git NO….no, no, no….
i didn’t think that was a touchdown…I mean REALLY.:rant1:
(this farmer is rooting for the Seahawks.)
(really a baseball fan here – SF GIANTS – and talk about announcers, JOE MORGAN ROCKS)
You guys! My dinner tonight consists of mostly things from my garden. This is so cool! I love pulling my food out of the ground when I need it. I don’t know why I never gardened before! I have spinach, broccoli, scallions and cilantro from the garden and I have some baby potatos and mushrooms from the store.
Touchdown!!!…who is in yellow?
:fustrate::40: I don’t know what else to say
:rofl2:
-> now THAT was a touchdown.
:rant1: What is goin’ on?
Travis, if I was in a national commercial I certainly didnt get the $$$$ for it!…
I missed most of this thing. Good old Mom called to tell me that Half time was starting so I watched that, but Ive been trying to catch up and blogging…still have to go and put links in because I did it from my phone.
Krista, I had asparagus and carrots for dinner…so far…I wish I could have a veggie garden but there are so many deer and burrowing animals that the people who do it have to dig way down and bury the fence like 4 feet deep…AND put a top on the fence!
There were 4 big deer standing outside my house this evening when I went to pick up my son. I cold just imagine what they would do!
Im tired of fighting them…
Methaz- if youre still out there…be very careful of that Nano. I love them but have heard lots of horror stories involving sitting on it and snapping it in half and dropping it and the screen breaking. Get thee a really good case immediately…
Poor kids in my son’s school keep losing them.
I dont let my kid take his anywhere without me along…and it has a great case. This, even though my father bought it for him so I dont care what he does with it.
Mine is treated like a piece of glass! I love mine…and I never removed the plastic coating on the body of it. I just slid it into the case;-)
This is all Marc’s fault!!
If he hadnt gotten so enamoured of his iPod I probably wouldnt have chosen this brand…but there is something about it that causes humans to bond with it.
Methaz…Riley has the same one you do, but he doesnt talk much about it…at least I dont think he does…I dont listen to him at all anymore. Im over AAR Mornings. Im becoming a night person!
My back yard has lots of mushrooms. I like to think of them as dog shitake mushrooms. I haven’t tried them, but if they’re anything like the mushhrooms I used to get in college, I ought to give ’em a go.
I’ll try and find the Valentine’s Radio Shack ipod commercial. It may take a day our two. There was someone with a little dog talking about their ipod and it reminded me of you. It was funny…anyway gardens are fun. I remember stealing carrots from my neighbors and then I had to apoligize for it the next day.
YESSS! I missed it, but yeah!
Yippee Skippy!!! Finally.
Krista – can’t believe you have that bounty this time of year. cool!
Mom called furious to say that O’Reilly is talking about AAR on the TV (a rerun from she doesnt know when) about how AAR is doign so badly financially because Al is getting 2 million dollars per year…and how it only stays afloat with the big contributers…lies, lies…impossible that they would pay Al that much! O’Reilly hates Franken…but I think that what shes seeing is an old rerun…though I wouldnt put it past him to keep talking about it.
:rofl2: You can’t fail with a mushroom joke
Hello, blog sibs. I had another “Stupid Costumed Assholes” do on Saturday so I spent the day living in the past and (mostly) shopping for incredible fabric at the Pendleton outlet. And I tried to spend today at places that don’t have anything football related on the screen. But I couldn’t pull it off so now I’m home listening to Marc’s CD again.
I got a thank you from (apparently) Jim Earl and Marc Maron for the high class chocolate I sent them. It reads
I replied, asking them what time on the 13th and explained that literally dozens of fans were on this blog and we each have lots of friends and by the time we’re done spreading the word thousands will know the time. I don’t expect to hear back anytime soon but you never know…..
I suppose I should go tune into one of the all-news networks to find out if anything untoward has happened while I’ve been hiding from the pigskin.
But first, I must share this recipe. I don’t care for carrot cake but I’m told I’m one in a million that way. So here’s a healthy alternative to the usual version of it.
Dr. Andrew Weil’s Carrot Cake
9 Servings
Carrot cake is a perennial favorite, but it is often loaded with vegetable oil and laden with a cream cheese frosting. Our version is healthier, using a small amount of olive oil, a full cup of honey for moistness and flavor, and a combination of whole wheat pastry and unbleached flours. The crunchy walnuts even add a bit of omega-3 fats to this sweet treat. With a cup of hot green tea, this cake will make you forget about cream cheese frosting. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
2 cups firmly packed finely grated carrots (3 large)
Juice of 1 large orange
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 cup light olive oil
1 cup honey, liquefied in microwave (30 seconds)
1/2 cup crushed or chopped pineapple, drained
1 cup unbleached white flour
1 1/2 cups whole-wheat pastry flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground allspice
3/4 cup walnuts, chopped
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
2. In a mixing bowl, stir together the carrots, orange juice, vanilla, olive oil, honey, and pineapple until well blended.
3. In another bowl, stir together the flours, baking soda, and spices. Mix in the walnuts.
4. Blend the dry ingredients into the carrot mixture, stirring until just mixed.
5. Pour the batter into a nonstick 8-inch-square baking pan and bake for 45-60 minutes until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Remove from oven, let cool slightly, and remove from pan.

Speaking of Al…I was listening to Friday’s show today and he has done a great thing to the stream. He got rid of the horrible muzak and put in Grateful Dead…talk about college flashbacks and mushrooms! Of course, unless youre smoking alot of pot the Dead can seem a bit like muzak…but I seem to still know all the words to most of the songs…but anyway, its good to fast forward through a real piece of music rather than the hypno muzak that Im sure is designed to brainwash us all….
I guess that Al thing is the new idiot talking point. There’s a thread at AAP that says:
Oh, thanks for the tip, Melina. I may have to start recording Al’s stream (that sounds kinda sick, doesn’t it? Like a pervert with a tape recorder) and then editing out his show to listen to the Dead.
Actually, I guess it’s easier to just download the Closet Deadhead podcast.
2-3 MILLION! That’s a ton of money. Why would he need that much?
Well, not that I don’t trust Bill O’Lielly and Brain Maloney, but (speaking as one myself), if you hang out with a couple of Irishmen, don’t be surprised if you find yourself hip-deep in bulshit.
GRRRRRRRR!:mad:WTF!
Well, i had to fence my garden from the dogs and then screen it from the birds. There are so many friggin birds in this neighborhood and they ate all my seedlings last year. It has also been a very warm winter but hey, this is Phoenix and we can grow all year long. Although, it’s pretty tough in the summer. The poor soil forces me to fertize the hell out of it with fish emulsion. But it got me a crop. The artist I’m working for told me she has some friends that live in my neighborhood that want to start a farmers market. I should talk to them.
In my head I’m going insane, but physically I’m pretty stoic right now
Amazing what can happen after a bullshit holding call. On the bright side, I won’t make any money either way.
Okay, this is too cool. I’m gonna have to see if I can get the walnut tree to make some decent walnuts and see about doing something with the bounty from the olive tree
Get some grape vines going, too, so we can have some KP vino at the big MS convention.
Mmmm, yes grapevines do good here and I think I know where to put them! I do have a Morning Glory vine though.
I hate football! I never watch it. These people have way too much money for what they do.
I have a grapevine down by the road that produces horrible little sour grapes. Its a rogue singular grapevine that goes up a tree right next to the road…very cool, but inedible. I call it the Brown Vineyard.
I am joining a farm co-op this year where a bunch of people from around here buy a share of produce and get whatever is harvested that week….It may be way too much but I want to give it a try. I think Im also going to get a share of the fruit.
Its a great way to support the local small farmers who are mainly making money at the farmers markets and some small restaurants.
I think Im gonna take my pod and Times and go lay down.
Hey…. if Al can stream other music why cant the other shows? Ill have to write to …whoever…and ask.
Its just crazy to play that zombie stuff in between. I can get past it on my pod but if I get distracted for a minute too long I suddenly jolt from a trance and want some kool aid…spooky!
And I doubt very much that Al is getting some huge money. Im sure he gets stock and a good salary but if it was that much then he wouldnt be leaving to go into politics. I dont figure him for someone who is in this for the money…he does well off of his writing anyway.
Friday’s show was great by the way except that he did the oy,oy,oy show…I hate that!
But, joe Conasin was on and he is always fantastic.
nite all…check you in the AM…
I just spilled my coke:fustrate:
Gypsy- maybe if we sent a wad of cash they would tell us the time of the friggin show! What is it a national secret?
Also, if PJ’s numbers are right, this blog has dozens who post, but potentially thousands of fans waiting and visiting for at least information….
Sending candy is good…get him all hopped up and ready for the show.
Where did you send it? The radio station or the PO box that the CD came from?
Nite again….will be back in the AM
I’m kinda sworn to secrecy on the address because it’s a contact for Jim Earl and I got it with his permission, but he never said it was okay to publish. I didn’t actually expect to hear back, especially from Marc, too, so I’m pleased and will avoid doing anything to piss the boys off for the time being.
I feel like I had such a productive weekend. Knit my fingers to the bone just about, made food for the freezer, even posted something on Steve Earle’s show’s blog… I think I earned a chance to curl up and eat rice and watch “Crossing Jordan” for mindless entertainment. Type at you all later!
So, when the new show starts will we be moving back to AAR’s blogs? I kind of like our li’l ark. There’s no way Danny Dumb Butt will allow such crass emoticons on the AAR site. Plus we will be subject to trolls again.
I wanna stay on the boat.
First do a Google search with the term liar. Check the first result.
Then do a Google search with the term failure. Check the first result.
Google pays back the DOJ :rofl2:
#104
do you think there will even be a blog for the new show??? they don’t even have anything up for the website and the show is one week away!!!
i did check Marc’s site and it said the show is shaping up, but it’s all in the hands of AAR :fu:
i use gogle.com as my search engine!!!!! they are so much better than google
i want mark and marc together again:rant1:
