Gee, things are going great.
First, we have a wonderful Attorney General like Alberto Gonzalez to make sure our laws are upheld. As Jimmy Carter said:
Obviously, the attorney general who said it’s all right to torture prisoners and so forth is going to support the person who put him in office. But he’s a very partisan attorney general and there’s no doubt that he would say that,” Carter said. “I hope that eventually the case will go to the Supreme Court. I have no doubt that when it’s over, the Supreme Court will rule that Bush has violated the law.”
Meanwhile, in New Orleans, The US Governement can’t do anything to help, so Mayor Ray Nagin is looking to foreign countries like Jordan and France for a helping hand. Talk about ignominious.
Oops! Revote today, since there were more votes than voters on Diebold machines in Ohio. Shocking! :omg:
Oh, well, plenty more where that came from.
AAAARRRRGGGGG
One of the things that conservatives often say about liberals is that the liberals are good at pointing out all the bad things but don’t offer much in the way of solutions. So far this morning we have had Ray whats his name in San Francisco ranting about all the people we are going to kill in the middle east in our upcoming war with IRAN and Ms Rant ranting about the attorney jerk off yesterday.
I still wonder what the liberals did on the Titanic just before the ship went down. ??:rant1::mad:
Morning Evening all! :yinyang:
My sis in New Oreleans talks about how empty the city is and how the prep for Mardi Gras is so much smaller this year.
Well, Citizen carter, I hope you are not surprised that anything and everything about this administration and the organized crimine machine masquerading as a political party is partisan.
King Kong, gong hey phat choi! Or something like that.
Welcome “home” King Kong! You were missed!
NC Blue – that’s Cantonese, and aHappy New Year to you, too.
Farmerkat -it’s good to be home. There were some real creapy pro-Bush people in the states. Oddly the ‘conservative’ folks in their 70s and 80s hate him!
So what is this domestic surveillance smoke screen obscuring this time… ???
… and TV news just isn’t hammering the point that the illegal domestic surveillance didn’t have to be if it was done to only those the administration says they did it to. 😡
Smoke screen? Barbara Boxer is asking the same question. And more people are using the “I” word, leftist and rethugs. I want their whole party held responsible for their actions. That budget proposal is open class warfare, pure and simple.
(Which it was, of course, lying about)
The older conservatives, I think, are freaked out by the shrub’s total lack of fiduciary responsiblity.
—> I saw on one of the forums that Maron nation came from :rogar131
and…talk about folks being unware, i have a neighbor who is to the right of atilla the hun, she reads all the wretched right-but-wrong blogs/news. I mentioned to her something about the Green zone in Iraq and she asked, “What’s the Green zone?” WTF:?:
NC- have you got any quick reference to where the budget can be read?
Welcome back King Kong!

Comment by King Kong — February 7, 2006 @ 6:43 am
It’s actually not that odd. Bush is not a true conservative. If he was, he would stay the f— out of other people’s private lives and not run up huge deficits. The true conservatives want him to keep his hand off their wallets and get his Bible out of their faces. :fu:
Melina, I hope your son is feeling better. Also hope you were able to get some rest. We need an emoticon for hug.
Hey, did I mention Gonzales sucks? Slimeball. :fu:
The I word if it applies to all the rethugs in Washington would be just fine ..They also need to be completely eliminated not just removed from office. Rethugs are quite similar to Cockroaches getting rid of just one does nothing for the problem
“Green Zone?” … and I bet she thinks she’s well informed. :omg:
KK, I have been seeing budget proposlas all over. Quick link to Washington Post or the NY Times
Exactly.
Thanks Kevin. They (the old folks) are realizing what you say about his spending, though many didn’t mind his Bible.
did you all see that Rove is going ‘rovian’ trying to arm twist repuks in to supporting the illegal wiretaps? at least some of them are speaking out and unhappy with rove’s tactics. unrest among the ranks. :priest:
Well the superbowl is over so when does king George declare martial law ?? .. I guess KBR hasn’t actually built those detention camps yet.. I don’t think so at least….
Budget proposal links are helpful. Thanks, NC B. Three weeks away from the net and I’m a newbie, again.
One would think that if Rove is such an ass that someone on the left would dispose of him.. There might be ways of disposing that would be president setting and remove all the fun from their cocktail parties… hey.. if it woked in the 15 and 16 hundreds why not today ??
Fred, I’m stil hoping rove gets booted for the plame outing. a long wait.
TA!TA! Sediitonists. must fly!
:peace:
Don’t try to read the budget itself you will never figure out what they are talking about its all in GAO gibberish.
The budget’s hundred’s of pages is not accessable to anyone who want’s to have a life, but the informed comments are enjoyed.
Fred, about comment 25. Leave the violence to the right-wingers. Personally, I am surprised those people will put up with the strong-armed tactics from the Texas Mafia. They want to fight terror but let Rover terrorize their own party. Imagine that.
I’m getting really tired of the slime jobs that the rethugs apply to the dems. Rove is the chief in charge of the slime. Some deterrent needs to be found for this behaviour.
King Kong! Bet youre happy to get the hell out of America right around now! What a mess!
I just heard on the local news that theyve got refugees in a hotel over by JFK airport and their FEMA funding is up! They brought these people here to this cold place and put them in a hellhole next to an airport and now they are telling them to get out.
The hotel is going to renovate and they have put it off already…they…the HOTEL, is offering the refugees $2000 each to relocate but there is no way to get any sort of housing for that. And its cold as hell here…
Ah, FEMA….
Bobby Kennedy says that they are in charge of the nuclear powerplant in our back yard too and the first responders round here said that if anything at all happens we are screwed. the first responders dont even have enough plan and equiptment to save themselves, much less us.
oh yeah- Good morning everyone!
This whole thing is going bad for the Republicans…everything is going down and they are grasping at whatever they can. That bravado is really panic.
Good Morning Seditionistas.
…but I am still distrubed by the whole thing because I am too empathetic. I cant imagine how the innocent people who have been taken, held, and tortured with no rights at all, will ever get past this.
Kevin…thanks…Im drinking tea in a pile of sleeping dogs with a laptop on top of them, so that will be my hug.
He got on the bus and thats good…I was thanking the bus god for coming and taking him away for a while.
he has a very bad anxiety disorder and depression, along with a joint problem, so he is sad and achey…and he needs surgery. UGH!! Its very difficult in a 12 year old.
Anyway, I think he will feel better in school.
Morning Krista….hey, do you have to bring in good soil to plant veggies out there? We have all of these cacti that my son brough back and I had to buy soil for them….we need a soil swap!
Yeah Melina, I pretty much had to dig out a big chunk of gravel and clay and replace it. Plus I’ve been fertilizing the hell out of it with fish emulsion. Someone told me it takes a couple of years to get good soil going.
Just add sand to regular potting soil. Cactus and succulents like to drain easily and let the soil dry out between waterings.
yeah…some of those airport cacti seem to just die anyway, but a few are doing good.
My father always had a big cactus garden out in LA buthe had to build it from 6 feet in the ground with layers of logs and gravel etc…but they did great because it hardly ever rains there. They were huge.
I was trying to cut down on plants because there is too much ot take care of here as it is…and im interested in getting a couple of tiny finches…so Im tyring to cut down on extraneous care needing things. I guess the cacti are the least of it but I do have to try to dust them!
😆 Ouch!
Rachel: “I just love doing my own show, and being able to do weird stuff like that.”
Referring to a bit featuring a “zen” sports guru. Number one, its sports and by definition totally mainstream. Number two, how can she forget and not realize what weird is?
Weird is Lizz Winstead.
Weird is dream diary.
Weird is Sammy the Stem Cell.
Weird is the other Kent Jones.
Weird is funny stuff we like.
Weird is everything her show currently ain’t.
I would say that Jim Earl is the King of Wierd. :priest:
Become a politician to learn to be a liar!:rofl2:
I see that I am the only 1 here. Bye! Bye! :nixon:
If you want to know what “true” conservatives think about the current administration and the neocons, read “America Alone”, by Stefan Halper and Jonathan Clarke. It’s dense reading, with tons of references. Halper worked at State during the Reagan years, Clarke worked for Thatcher in the Foreign Office. Lots of us conservatives are not happy about things. I know you guys have issues with Reagan (more probably specific people in the R administration), but the differences between the GWBush and Reagan administrations are profound, and this book does a great job of pointing out why the neocons have stolen and distorted the Reagan legacy.
I love Kent Jones. I sure hope Lawton will be on the new show. I really grew to love Lawton. For a while I was tired of the predictable breakdown of Lawton after Marc holds up a mirror of truth to him. But then it became indispensile and now I can’t imagine Lawton any other way. And Lawton kidnapped by terrorists in Iraq clinched it.
YES, Methaz!! Absolutely!…Reagan was a horrible person to us who lived in NYC during the days of the beginning of AIDS. I worked at nightclubs back then and I cant tell you how many people were dropping like flies while the governement denied it all…and also how many people were living on the street…it was crazy…
Reagan put into place the beginning of the thing that they are trying to bring to fruition now, which is some bastardization of Reaganomics….BUT, he was a joy compared to these crooks. at least, if he was breaking the law he hid it or tried to hide it or denied. Damned if these guys dont just say this is what were doing and we’re right so come and get us! Ive never seen anything like it!
Worse, is that through the manipulation of the vote and the laziness of most people who allow themselves to be scared into thinking that all politician suck so we may as well be with the devil we have, they are removing the checks and balances that make this whole thing work.
I dont know if the country could run if there wasnt a more conservative side to balance off the liberal side…If balanced right, it works somewhat. Its like they just got together and decided to change everything and ther have been methodically working on it for years and years.
Bush has nothing to do with conservatives, and I think that they are really realizing that.
I wish that it was written into the constitution that every person deserves housing, food, education, and medical care. If that was just off the table we could get so much more done. It would still be a big tangle, but there would be ground rules so that in this back and forth people didnt fall victim to the Brownies doing a Heck of a Job!
Does anyone else have this gnawing feeling that DG has no intention of airing Marc’s new show?? :paranoid:
…and I just need to add…damn that Britney Spears driving on the highway with her tiny baby in her lap!…
Hows that for multifaceted?…
Well, isi, I wouldn’t put it past him. But it seems like that would just be the worst publicity for them and pretty damned audacious. So I’m guessing it will happen.
isi…lets not worry yet about that. We have 6 days to find it…and they will surely stream it from the station page. If its in the middle of the night then those of us with saving capabilities can tree out CDs or something…we’ll see. Im sure they will podcast it for pay too. That way you dont get the muzak…
Funniest post of the weekend was Gypsy saying that she was gonna save Al Franken’s show and edit him out and keep the Dead music! I was thinking about that yesterday while listening to him and I think she really has a point. I cant wait till he becomes a politician and hands his show over to Oliphant or Conasin or ….Marc?
WebH- something I noticed when Riley first came on was that the sports guy…who is a real sports guy…goes “way back” with Riley…and it just irks me that he brought in all of his people and they are so blah and regular radio like. Im sure that thats what DG said to do. I dont like Rachel’s zen sports guy because it is not executed well, but I do like the idea….like, some writer came up with a good idea but Rachel is Rachel…she isnt Lizz…so it doesnt work. I guess that the guy also isnt very good. They could do so much with that idea and I always think of what Jim and Marc might do with that…but it sorta of sucks.
Now theyve added Riley’s sports guy to Rachel’s show….as in, they want more regular sports, less “comedy”
So, whatever…its sad…Im so off of AAR…just podcasting certain shows and feeling bad about it.
Well, I’d really like to hear that KTLK is going to carry it, but you’d think (wouldn’t you?) that there’d be some sort of announcement on their site that it’s coming – in less than a week.
I’m thinking perhaps they don’t have all the contracts hammered out to drop/move shows around. Since the only non-AAR show in play would be Ed Schultz, I’m hoping it’s his deal on KTLK that’s causing problems.
But, yeah, I also have a feeling that they set the MMS up to fail, giving it a tiny budget, and not doing any serious work to get it syndicated anywhere. It may well be that they just hoped to get all the Maronheads out there to sign up for their premium service, and then throw us a few weeks of the MMS whenever it is they get around to it.
The really odd thing was the Jon Sinton response that got posted here a few days back, questioning whether or not it would be a premium only show, and he said “I hope not.” I mean, he’s supposed to be the VP of programming or something, isn’t he? And he doesn’t know anything?
Then there was the call to AAR, where the phone person didn’t know shit, either, and as far as they knew, there was no start date for the show. Now Marc’s e-mail says, “we’ll be ready, but let’s see if the powers that be are.”
I mean, I’m certianly no radio industry expert, but is this a fucked-up way to run things, or what?
That’s funny you say that about Gypsy’s comment because I was thinking maybe Al should use rare recordings to get folks to listen. You know he’s got a boatload of live recordings and bootleg recordings etc.
Anything to keep Al from singing the guests on would be good (I mean, the 30 – 60 seconds he wastes with those stupid little intros could be spent listening to the guest, who is almost always more interesting than Al is).
He has a lot in common with Garrison Keillor – just because you have a radio show doesn’t mean you should be singing.
I have been sending emails to Congress today. Take a look:
* * * * * * * * * * * * * * *
Why is George Bush and the Republican Party waging war against the American People?
Why does the 2007 Budget Proposal attack the American People and build a fascist state?
Why is the madman in the White House claiming we are at war when Congress hasn’t declared war against any nation?
Why does the Republican Party hate America, the Constitution and the institution of Democracy in America so much?
Why are you as a representative of the American people NOT doing something FOR the people instead of TO the people?
Is this the final stage of Newt Gingrich’s “Contract On America?”
And why isn’t Newt in prison for his corruption?
When will you as a representative of the American people start demanding the criminal element in our government be held responsible for their words and deeds? You owe it to the American people.

 Morning, blog sibs.
Does President Carter seriously think the new Supremes will ever rule against Monkey Boy and the Thugs?
The trouble with Franken’s show is that, although he does have an education and a good grasp of what he’s talking about (usually) it’s still Franken’s show and his whole comedic schtick is being so self-centered he can’t possibly imagine talking about anything that doesn’t involve him. I doubt that’s his real personality (and sometimes, in interviews, he forgets to be his comedic self and is really good) but he maintains it for the sake of the show and it really is out of place there. As a politician he will (I hope) drop the act and run as himself. (And I hope no one in Minnesota remembers him with the sattelite dish on his head…)
I have a feeling Maron’s show is going to be on after Malloy. Which would be a big disappointment not only to me but, I suspect, to everyone.
Well, they do seem to have a terrible management problem, but there are promos on XM.
Al is having them play what may be old Grateful Dead in the stream instead of muzak…which is almost sorta muzak when youre not stoned…but I digress…its better than the hypotize muzak that they are playing. Ive gotten pretty good at skipping it but in the iPod its not an exact science and requires taking the thing out of your pocket and looking at it…oh well…
Al is friends with Lesh and probably the rest of them so Im sure they let him use anything he wants for the stream.
They should put anything in that time frame other than muzak. The Majority Report stream begins at the top of the hour and then there is a tiny news blurb and 7 minutes of muzak!!…why not put in public service spots and anything that is in the public domain now…old standards? speechs? someone reading a book? sheesh!
If AAR messes up Marc’s show Im going to be finished with them for good. They already took a great thing and made it impossible to even grow an audience….
well, gypsy, if its on in themiddle of the night then we can podcast it or save stream it in the morning! Thats not so bad! It will just be hard to blog during the show and hard for him to grow an audience, but he is so good, I cant imagine that he wont continue to grow his following. And if this fails I could see him on TV or anything else…
Hopefully he will have a happier work enviornment out there than he did here…It cant be fun to work at the flagship station these days…and it used to seem like they were all having such a good time and building something.
The only way we can podcast it is if we pay to do that. Is anyone willing to pay and then secretly share the file? (We need a cloak and dagger smiley for this one.)
Maron needs to have cool smileys on his blog. Either that or he needs to link back to this one to get the cool smilies.
Boy, do I hope Carter’s name carries more weight that this article seems to imply. Of course, the article is specifically about one Senate race, but it would be nice to see Nevada go Dem, no matter how it’s accomplished. (I have friends there, and all of them are Dems so I just can’t understand how it ends up a Repig state…)
no,no…I dont podcast, I use replay radio…the shows should be free to stream and, from what rachel said, free on the day they are released, but then you have topay after that…so there is plenty of time to save it to some media.
The replay is great because you can set it and forget it…like my rotisserie!
❓
I missed this one yesterday. Fortunately, Crooks & Liars didn’t. Perhaps somebody here can ‘splain it to me. I know Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg address on his laptop, and rumor has it Washington used to surf porn on the Internet, but Wilson?
Yeah, Franken’s been trying to figure out what electronics Washington and Lincoln authorized. I figure Lincoln authorized telegraph-taps and Washington authorized Ben Franklin to tap into everyone’s key-and-kite devices.
I make myself laugh….:rofl2:
I can’t find the image online but over in the Head Start offices I saw a poster for Sammy Scissors with a scissor with a face that looks remarkably like our Sammy Stem Cell’s face. Makes me think Sammy’s got a family. What a comforting thought!
:sammy: with a mother-in-law. What a concept!
Did anyone see Kristof’s piece in the NY Times op-ed today? HIlarious!!
Got a question for you guys: Why is public financing of campaigns considered a good idea by Franken-style Dems? Doesn’t that naturally lead to only government approved candidates? (Not that we have anything like “free and fair” elections, with ballot access laws, limited media access, no paper trail voting and such – the OECD observers pretty much nailed us on that last time.) Is this really a liberal issue, or is it a DLC thing?
What thinks the masses?
An while I’m on a Frankenrant, what’s this “we are at war” mantra as an excuse for raising taxes/repealing the tax cut? Doesn’t that play in to the neocon position?
In theory, if candidates didn’t have to pander to groups on either side to get enough money to make a viable attempt to run for office, then that would be a good thing.
In practice, I don’t know how you’d really go about it. One problem, as you suggest, would be who gets to decide who’s a “serious” candidate and who isn’t. Another would be trying to keep groups (whether it’s the drug companies, tobacco industry, MoveOn or organized labor) from buying their own “issue” ads. Also, can you keep a wealthy individual from spending his or her own money to run for office?
Personally, I think if you had federal standards for running for office (say, x number of signatures gets you on the ballot, and then you get an equal share of federal campaign money to spend), and you then reinstated the fairness doctrine, and required broadcasters to provide a certain amount of time per candidate for campaign ads, then maybe you could begin to put an end to special interests buying their own candidates.
Of course, just to get signatures to get on the ballot, you need a campaign machine, volunteers, and lawyers (especially in NY State, which is why I think federal standards are in order) – all of which takes money.
One thing I’m certain of, is that as soon as you come up with a law, a few thousand people will be out there trying to figure a way around it.
PJ – media access has two parts – Advertising and News coverage. It seems that recently the former drives the latter. Not sure a return of the fairness doctrine does much for that. A journalist class that takes it’s job seriously, and management that would support serious journalism, would go a long way towards fixing all of these issues.
Agree re federal standards – has to apply to primaries as well. In fact, that may do more than fixes in the general elections. The trick is not setting the bar too high or having whoever is on the evaluating comittee not stacked against non-establishment (even within a party) candidates.
Did anyone else ever see the short-lived (I suspect only one episode aired) “The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer?”
Maybe it’s telegraph porn that Lincoln was wiretapping?
(I can’t believe I actually watched that show for more than fifteen seconds!)
The fairness doctrine wouldn’t, by itself, fix everything, to be sure. It would be a good start, though.
I’d like to see broadcasters be held to a higher standard of operating “in the public interest,” too. But, as long as they refrain from showing Janet Jackson’s breast wearing a sheriff’s star, then they can do whatever they want.
Sure, “public interest” is a subjective term and would be impossible to explicitly define, but they could come alot closer than they are now. Real news that isn’t sponsor-driven would be a good place to begin.
CQ’s Quote of the Day
“I don’t sound like I have a mouthful of turnips, do I?” — Sen. Robert C. Byrd, D-W.Va., questioning Pentagon witnesses at Armed Services hearing.
Oh, gosh, he’s aiming for another geezer-off, isn’t he?
on one of these forums someone discusses bit torrent. can someone explain it to me in layman’s terms? my son tried and that just didn’t work out. C&L uses it, but hell if i know what you do. thanks. the guy on the forum suggests we set up this thing to hear maron …….
Using torrents, files are segmented into a whole lot of different pieces. Somebody (or bodies) with a complete set of all the pieces “seeds” the file to others. As you start to receive all the pieces, you, too, begin sharing the ones you have with other people who are downloading the same torrent. Depending on who has what pieces and what their connection is like, you’ll receive all the pieces in different order. Once you have the entire set, you start seeding it out ot thers, so long as you keep your program open.
So, you need client software (I prefer Azreus, but there are many others), and then you can go off searching for torrents to download.
More info is here, and also here.
This sounds so damn yummy. I have to make it tonight. I just have to! Not putting it in the recipe thread because it’s a copyrighted recipe.
I worship at the feat of Alton Brown. Geeks turn me on. Geeks who can cook turn me on AND make me all gushy inside. Okay, TMI. I’ll stop now.

1 cup pitted and finely chopped Kalamata olives
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon Dijon mustard

Hmmmm……I have all the ingredients to make this, too…

thanks pj. it sounds almost like an electronic commune, yes?
i keep checking aar web page to see if they have marc on it. god, it’s just pitiful that they haven’t put something on their homepage about his new show.
👿
I think it’s because AAR’s management sucks, but that’s just speculation.
Yes, kind of like an e-commune. The bandwidth is spread out, and the more everybody gives to each other, the better everything is for everybody. Kind of like anti-Republicanism.

The Hillary and George Show
By JOSHUA FRANK
There aren’t many elected officials in Washington who want to throw the gantlet down on Iran more than Hillary Clinton. The New York Senator believes the president has been too soft on the militant Islamic country, claiming that Bush has played down the threat of a nuclear-armed Tehran.
“I believe we lost critical time in dealing with Iran because the White House chose to downplay the threats and to outsource the negotiations,” Clinton told an audience at Princeton University on January 18. “I don’t believe you face threats like Iran or North Korea by outsourcing it to others and standing on the sidelines We cannot and should not – must not – permit Iran to build or acquire nuclear weapons,” Clinton added. “In order to prevent that from occurring we must move as quickly as feasible for sanctions in the United Nations.”
Sen. Clinton has attempted to out-hawk Dubya on other foreign policy matters, as well. From Iraq to Palestine, the Democratic Party’s leading lady argues that the current administration has not done enough to combat the threat of terrorism. And like so many other neoconservatives (yes, admit it, Hillary is a bloody neocon), Clinton will never admit that the United States has fallen right into the grasp of Al Qaeda by attempting to fight stateless terror by walloping sovereign Arab countries.
And with the landslide Hamas victory in the recent Palestinian elections, the US policy for the region isn’t exactly producing the kind of results Bush and his co-conspirators desired…

XM still has Morning Sedition station identification spots! Thats how they do business these days. It wasnt like this before but something is really amiss, between the horrible stream music, the messed up commercials, and the lack of mention of Marc’s show on the blog or anywhere besides his commercials on the streams (and XM? Im trying to remember if they are on XM at all.) If AAR is neglecting the content of their XM feed because that is going to lapse then IM gonna be really pissed off…and I will cancel XM even though I cant get a signal on the radio in the car all that well.
Im trying to remember when I last saw something slip so badly so quickly…oh yeah…America under Bush’s management.
Im looking at Chris Matthews and there is a big to-do about McCain calling Barak out as a two faced creep…the letter McCain wrote and made public is just so snotty. I guess theyve made up, but, man…I had the feeling that alot of Barak’s thing was posturing and postioning…
That McCain has a pretty bad bite when he gets mad…
Then there is the King funeral with Bish sitting there while everyone talked about how horrible things are …unbelievable….
Anf God, I wish Hillary wasnt really going to do this. It looks like she is trying to slide it in as a joke via Bill, but it just sounds alarming to me!
Its like Chris Matthews read HuffPo to program his show tonight!
Did anyone hear Rachel today? She read the new budget and…man its scary…we are in big trouble…really big trouble.
Why did Bush subject himself to this funeral?…Rev. Lowery went after Bush as a weapon of mass destruction…deception…?…whatever…it was so in his face. The place exploded….
Farmer-I figured out the Torrent for a while and then I forgot how to do it. I think that the problem was that I had to convert the files. There is also a “beaming” thing that old time radio folks are doing. In any case, if I could figure it out anyone could….but there are alot of ways of sharing files these days.
Hows Mr Farmerkat doing? Is he able to keep in touch via email?
ahhhhhhhh friggin ghetto ass holiday inn anyway i wont need a campaign machine to get on the ballot to run for congress it only takes 1200 signatures to run for congress which is weird since it takes 2000 to get on the ballot to run for mayor of buffalo
:alc:
Hey, got wireless at home? Bush wants to tax it. Unfreakinbelievable.
Among other things that use unlicensed spectrum are WiFi, cordless telephones, and bluetooth devices.
Melina, no shit about the budget. I have a sinking feeling about what’s going to happen to my job; we’re federally and state funded.
You can cut the tension around here with a butter knife.
Is this the return of Marc?
:omg:it was snowing yesterday morning as i drove into atlanta what the hell is with that? it wasnt sticking to the ground or anythinfg but the people were still driving like 10 miles under the speed limit i think they were driving so slow just to piss me off

Ol’ Zeb’s PsyOps Funnies
I just heard on Big Eddie’s show bit where a clip of Dubya’s “…addicted to oil..” from the SOTU was edited into Robert Palmer’s Addicted To Love. Humerous enough, but it’s time to use your imagination: OK, close your eyes. (After reading this!) Get that tune rolling in your brain. Now imagine Dubya swaying and hanging on to the microphone instead of Palmer. Now picture a half dozen clones of the Laura 2006 swaying in synchrony as back-ups.
A few years ago I mentioned to a friend that “If I talent I’d be dangerous.” He instantly replied, “No, if you had ambition you would be dangerous.”
…Nap Time!
:cres::priest::sdavid:
How can this budget get passed if it has no money for the war or Louisiana? It apparently just ignores those two things, but cuts medicare, social programs, etc…and still gives the tax cuts to the rich…it also cuts the medicare death benefit of $250 (supposed to offset burial for poor folks but it wouldnt cremate a dog!)
We are in big trouble if this really goes through…how can they even present this…did it get voted on yet?
cnn just said something about a soldier being charged for body armor didnt catch it entirely but thats messed up whatever it is
Zeb…. Stop it stop it STOP IT! I am not allowed to giggle maniacally at work anymore.
Ed Schultz has been talking about it, too. I think he talked to the guy’s mother. (I missed the beginning of the discussion so I’m not sure.)
The guy he was talking about had been hit and was down and horribly injured. Someone took his body armor from him, while it had his blood all over it, and he never saw it again. They’re charging him for it because they say he lost it.
Fuckers….
I don’t know that Marc likes being a celebrity correspondant. I think he wants meatier subject matter.
lol budgets are a joke with this administration they cut important social programs give more money to the rich and leave big ticket items out of the budget all together makes me friggin sick
Yeah, I heard some of that on Ed’s show. Man! If the wars don’t keep you from joining the army the stupid beaurocracy should!
I tell you, they’re trying to create a slave society. These people are genetically evil.
:evil:EVIL:evil:
:rofl2:
they are talking about chinas military buildup on CNN right now there was a little story about a year ago i think China specifically said it was prepared to use nuclear weapons against us i think i need to look the story up again cant remember quite clearly something about if we try and stop them from making my friend chinese they were gonna fight us or something
no,no…I dont podcast, I use replay radio…
Comment by Melina — February 7, 2006 @ 12:09 pm
Melina, what is this replay radio that you speak of? Might it work better for me than getting an iPod?
Also, would I need to have an AAR affiliate in my area to record the shows from? Currently the Tampa Bay area has no on-air affiliate – I stream during the day (usually from KTLK) and would have to stream and record Marc’s show overnight and listen to it the next day, which is fine.
Sorry for all these tech questions, I know you don’t work at Circuit City 😀 but I appreciate the assistance.
Glad to hear that your son made the bus OK this morning.
Here‘s the story about the soldier charged for his body armor. (I can only find TX and New Zealand source, although it’s on the AP wire.) It wasn’t stolen. It was destroyed as a biohazard. I mis-heard. Sorry.
On Thursday at 8:30am, Marc Maron joins Rachel Maddow by phone from Los Angeles to give us a Grammy wrap-up, the morning after
Comment by pjsauter — February 7, 2006 @ 5:52 pm
Does this hint that Marc’s new show is not going to be politically oriented?
:rant1:ah ha here it is see stories like this are why we need a mushroom cloud smiley friggin nobody reported on this at all i heard something about it only once i think on malloys program nobody ever mentioned it again
“If the Americans draw their missiles and position-guided ammunition on to the target zone on China’s territory, I think we will have to respond with nuclear weapons,” said General Zhu Chenghu.

On Thursday at 8:30am, Marc Maron joins Rachel Maddow by phone from Los Angeles to give us a Grammy wrap-up, the morning after.
How much does everyone want to bet that Marc still won’t know what’s going on with the show by Thursday? :crap:
If Karl Rove had promoted Bush the way DG is promoting MMS, we’d be enjoying President Gore’s second successful term right now.
But then that would make Lieberman the front-runner for ’08, so I guess we’d still be fucked, just not as much.
:paranoid:im gonna have to hide under a desk when the bombs hit did you know that the military teaches you a certain way to fall to the ground in the event of a nuclear bomb going off near you if you hear one you are supposed to drop to the ground helmet in the direction of the explosion with your hands covering your genitals
:rofl2:
yeah that will help
Okay, so i read this book that seems pretty whacked. But it’s sticking with me because the neocons fit the premise. It was published in 2002. It’s called(hold on to your giggles) Atlantis, Alien Visitation and Genetic Manipulation by Michael Tsarion. So this guy studied all the myths and stories of ancient civilisations and concluded that the human race of today was genetically modified by arrogant aliens who were chased here and hid on this planet and got stuck so they genetically modified the humans that they found here to be their slaves. The description of the aliens seems SO neocon, it’s been sticking in my mind. Has anyone else read this?
I think Marc always liked to do music bits, so this doesn’t hint that he’s not going to be doing politics, too. He did well with politics, music, food, literature, food, politics, and food.
I hope he can do restaurant reviews. I so wished he could be a judge on Iron Chef America. (I think they film in New York and tend to prefer New York based judges but he’d still be great. Mo Rocca was funny but not a food judge. Marc would be so much funnier and so much more a judge…(
so bush is an alien?:rofl2:
heres another quote from the chinese general
“We . . . will prepare ourselves for the destruction of all of the cities east of Xian. Of course the Americans will have to be prepared that hundreds . . . of cities will be destroyed by the Chinese.”
comforting isnt it
Yeah, maybe Sean.
:rofl2:
Krista, is this the human-animal hybrid Monkey Boy was talking about during the SOTU?
human-animal hybrid Monkey Boy:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
Hey Kevin, Replay Radio and Replay AV allow you to capture the live streams and save them to listen to later. The only drawbacks are the commercials, which are easily skipped. You can save the raw stream (Real or windows media or whatever) or have it converted to mp3.
The AV version ($10 more) allows you to capture multiple streams at once w/o using your soundcard (so you can actually be listening to something else while you’re capturing a show. It will also capture video.
I have it, and I have to say it works quite well; once you get the streams set up (which isn’t too tough), they’re just there waiting for you when you’re ready to listen.
$40 for Radio, $50 for AV More info here.
Kevin- PJ and I both have Replay A/V
It saves the computer stream of radio shows and also it carrys podcasts. You can save them in MP3 format onto you computer and play them from there or you can burn them to CD or you the program with automatically load them into your iTumes which will load it into an ipod or toehr MP3 player automatically. If you want it portable you can get an MP3 player or burn CDs…or if you just want it on your computer you can play the shows directly from their folders in Real format or from iTunes. It depends on how much you run around. Having this stuff with you while you run around, exercise, and do chores or whatever, changes your life…I can say that!…but if I was gonna be near my computer alot …well…
Anyway, its a great program and you could wake every morning to Marc’s show waiting for you on your computer.
I use it for everything now.
Jinx, PJ!!!
Well, according to this book we are all hybrids already.
gee im a jerk i never supplied a link to the article someone should of told me i was a jerk for not supplying a link the story is from financialtimes.com anyway yeah i need to go to sleep for a little while so later people
if we get into a shooting war with the Chinese and the Russians it could be either nuclear or conventional. I don’t think Putin has much of land army but China has 10 times the number of men in their army that we have in our entire military, Some one said once that if one could get the Chinese army to all stand on a bench two feet off the ground and jump off at the same time it would cause a magnitude 8 earth quake. The Chinese have guided missile cruisers operating in the Indian ocean and recently had some kind of joint exercise with Russia. It will be interesting to see if the Russians and the Chinese let either the US or Israel get away with an air attack on IRAN.. It would be a major credibility and military disaster for Bush if we sent in a bunch of aircraft and none returned and nothing in IRAN got damaged. I can imagine what would happen if the few attack aircraft remaining were pursued back to their bases by a number of four engine turboprop bombers with big red stars on their tails.
:paranoid:i think im paranoid
:paranoid:and youre not helping me any fred

so friggin awesome bush’s stupid ass went to Coretta Scott King’s funeral and now the republicans are all mad at people talking about how they were making partisan swipes at the president even jimmy carter got in on it and they were very partisan and it is damn awesome that people had the balls to say that stuff while his monkey ass was right there in the crowd this was friggin awesome anyway heres a link to the news story but if you dont feel like reading it heres a few quotes
“It was difficult for them personally with the civil liberties of both husband and wife violated, and they became the targets of secret government wiretapping and other surveillance,” Carter said.
Lowery, former head of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, which Martin Luther King helped found in 1957, gave a playful reading of a poem in eulogy of Mrs. King and made a none-too-veiled reference to the Iraq war launched by Bush.
“We know now there were no weapons of mass destruction over there / But Coretta knew and we knew that there are weapons of misdirection right down here / Millions without health insurance. Poverty abounds. For war billions more but no more for the poor,” Lowery said.
“She extended Martin’s message against poverty, racism and war/She deplored the terror inflicted by our smart bombs on missions way afar,” he said.
friggin awesome
Yeah, it was incredible! He wasnt gonna go but then decided to go when he found out that all the presidents were going…so crazy of him to go to a black church…
Al Sharpton also made a great speech about Coretta and the whole Bush thing…either esrly today or last night.
Imus played parts of it this morning.
Bush looked like he was gonna die. They should have made him make the last speech just to see if he could still talk…but he gave the first speech. He is constantly trying to co opt MLK, as he dishonors his memory with every thing he does!
oh, and I think that Rachel said that it was because it was held in a big evangelical church, he changed his mind. Apparently one of MLK and CSK’s daughters is a minister in this wild mega church that is against gay marriage and all sorts of things….Bush felt like he’d be safe there…except he wasnt…heh heh…so unseemly to turn a funeral into a political statement…but at this point how could they not? Its great! I think that today Bush’s bubble popped a little.
Have you seen this yet? I wish they could run this one on TV, but the ACLU tends not to do such things. Sigh.
Reverend Joseph Lowery Rocks!!!
He founded the Southern Christian Leadership Conference with Martin Luther King, Jr.
People are criticizing him for his remarks at Coretta Scott King funeral ??? Please, give me a break.A King funeral is the perfect place for the truth. “Millions with out health insurance. Poverty abounds. For war, billions but no more for the poor” And, that SOB George H. W. Bush had the nerve to joke that Joseph Lowery should keep his day job. Poverty is no joke you 👿 old man.
I think Coretta Scott King was lookin’ down on her funeral and smilin’. How could you not take the opportunity to say the truth in monkeyboy’s face! I wonder if any of it sunk in. Doubtful.
oh those weapon’s of mass distraction!!
Rev.Lowery was amazing. i gave him a standing ovation in my room :nixon::banana::bow:
Hey, I have a distraction for ya.Anchortown welcomes you! Just a little something I found in blog world.
