No Marc to listen to this morning. What a shame. So, South Dakota has outlawed abortion, and Alabama, Georgia, Indiana, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, and West Virginia are lined up to be next. The Republicans look like they’ve managed to kill any investigation into the illegal wiretapping. Libby Dole is trying to extort money from people by pretending she’s the IRS. There’s no such thing as being too corrupt to be a Republican in Texas (no offense to our visitors from Plano, Frisco, and Dallas). And Donald “Iraq is fine, it’s all the media’s fault” Rumsfeld is trying to drum us into a war with Iran (maybe he thinks he can make up for the shitty job he’s done with Iraq).
But, it’ll all be OK, if Syracuse can pull out a miracle against UCONN at noon.
Update: Which they did, 86-84 in OT!
hey sheeple i am number 1
Good Morning bloggers
Well.. It snowed and then it melted then the melt froze. I70 was reminiscent of the pictures of the Mitla pass during WWII last night. Fortunately with bumper to bumper traffic going two miles per hour no one can get to badly injured.
So the question is what to do about the M$M thuggery media going into the 2006 election. They distort the truth tell lies and slam the progressives/liberals. With our own sort of kind of media we obviously don’t have to listen to them but there is a large percentage of the people out there who listen to and believe Chris Mathews and Timmy potato head. I think we have to convince them that lying for the rethugs will be hard on their health.. but that’s just me.
AAR’s web site seems to still be down.. I hope Riley doesn’t think no one is listening to him. Not that anyone blogs much on his site anyhow.
I have to wonder why the print media still thinks the IRAQ war was just a screw up. Bush and his military industrial buddies need a continuing war and the chaos just keeps oil prices high.. Its no screw up.. its working quite well i would say.
hey does anybody know the bush quote about fisa being an old law ?

ok well here is my response to a stupid assheads pointing out that the patriot act is good for us!
oh man some people are so ill informed! it amuses me. people like you are the reason this country is on the brink of defaulting on the national debt!!!!! too busy playing beer pong to get your head out of your ass huh? well since its people that have nothing worthwhile to say that rely on attacking the person instead of the issue i suppose i should put something in my response to address the issue. will just direct you to a few sites so you can uh get your head out of your ass wipe the fecal matter from your forehead and have a clue!

ok well have fun! and uh wash your face that shit all over it smells!
hey look your president is a moron! just because a law is old doesnt mean it is not a law anymore!
QUESTION: Mr. President, though — this is a direct follow-up to that — the FISA law was implemented in 1978 in part because of revelations that the National Security Agency was spying domestically.
What is wrong with that law that you feel you have to circumvent it and, as you just admitted, expand presidential powers?
BUSH: You said that I have to “circumvent” it. Wait a minute, that’s a — it’s like saying, “You know, you’re breaking the law.” I’m not.
See, that’s what you got to understand: I am upholding my duty and at the same time doing so under the law and with the Constitution behind me. That’s just very important for you to understand.
Secondly, the FISA law was written in 1978. We’re having the discussion in 2006. It’s a different world.
And FISA’s still an important tool. It’s an important tool, and we still use that tool.
But, also — and I looked. I said, “Look, is it possible to conduct this program under the old law?” And people said, “It doesn’t work in order to be able do the job we expect to us do.”
the constitution was written in i think 1787? i could be wrong but uh yeah a long time ago. dont feel like looking that up! I already looked too much up for your stupid ass. so since the constitution is so old and is hindering the search for terrorists maybe we should just throw that in the trash?
4th amendment
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
ya gotta love those christo-fascist zombie brigades of the bush cheney regimes neo-con death cult!
fred I like what you have said re comment 2 and 3 …
Any ideas? Down in L.A. when I was at the university we did much and much then was accomplished, especially stopping the ariel wolf hunts, but this is a festering, horrid administration, even worse than Reagan’s and except in me trying to write — I just do not have faith. The local Dem Organization is still going along as normal. Something new has to occur for people “To See” and “To Hear” and “TO DO SOMETHING”. We had thousands but now people can not move. BUT we have the computers – I guess.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY QUIETGIRL!!! :cake:
Have one on me tonight. Unconditional. :40:
Actually, have several. :alc:
And remember, if you need a reason to drink, you probably shouldn’t. Personally, I never need a reason. Although Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld et al. give me several reasons just about every day.
But I digress. Happy birthday! :cake:
I wonder if AAR is aware that their web site passed away ??.. After that discussion about WLIB maybe they came to work to find all their stuff out on the sidewalk.

Mornin’, Seditionists!
Started reading this morning’s posts and got bogged down in Sean’s about idiot boy and the patriot act. (It was a good post, Sean, it just got me thinking about a million other things, so I decided to skip straight to the comments box and post one myself.)
Random thoughts . . .
About the funny
Last night as I was trying to fall asleep (listening to the sounds of Otis through a newly purchased baby monitor–just in case), I realized the absurdity of giving Marc (at least for now) a “comedy” show. I mean, I thought it was the funny in the first place that irked Danny boy?!? What’s up with that? I mean, if it’s not politically driven, why is it on Air America? Oh, wait–it’s not really. Oh, wait–why is Riley’s show filled with (I’m told) sports talk and other stupid shit? (Hey, Riley, if you’re lurking, I’m just tryin’ to make a point, man. No disrespect to you!) Oh, wait . . .
Also, I agree that Jim is either underused or not well used. I’m hoping he finds his stride, but he seems very ill at ease being the straight man, and I–like others here–feel bad for him.
The intros . . . well, I just think that’s supposed to be an ironic old-school Hollywood thing. I just wish they were funnier.
Kristapea–
I am so, so sorry about your friend. A friend of mine from elementary school killed himself our freshman year of college. It was quite a shock. I never learned all the details (I was several states away at the time), but he left some kind of note saying, basically, this wasn’t a world he wanted to live in or raise children in. He’d seemed like the mellowest guy in the world.
You have my heartfelt condolences.
Ugly being the operative word.
citizenkahn, you asked yesterday for suggestions for books that tell what it’s like to live in NYC, well what about Dive from Clausen’s Pier by Ann Packer, about half the book takes place in NYC, the contrast between the protagonist’s life in NYC and her life in the midwest is striking, i had a friend who read the book and who’d lived in NYC and hated it but she said the book made her love NYC. i haven’t finished reading yesterday’s blog, so i might be repeating someone else’s suggestion. 🙂
I don’t think anybody suggested that, Foggy. Thank you–I’ll check it out!
:cake: HAPPY BIRTHDAY QUIET GIRL!! :cake:
Kristapea, I just read last night’s blog and found out that you had a friend commit suicide. It is very sad. 😥 You might learn today more about what was going on with him. I am sorry. Take care.
Kristapea, very sorry to hear about your friend.
Just posting here since AAR down
Rachel should have been the prosecutor. But since it was Alabama, the defense probably had the jury on her side anyway. And the prosecutor probably wasn’t into it anyway.

About the M$M
I don’t really know what to do. According to my Italian acquaintance, we have many more unbiased media outlets than, say, six television stations–three owned by Berlusconi and three owned by the state (read: Berlusconi). But it was toward the end of our little lesson and I didn’t have an opportunity to explain about our stupid fucking media shills. It takes work to get to the “fair and balanced” (and I’m not talking about Fox), and most people are either too lazy or apathetic or plain old ignorant to do it. If you only get your news from TV, you’ll never figure it out! (Same if you get your news from US military-approved radio stations.)
I got something from Progressive Majority yesterday about a conference they’re holding in DC in June to help groom activists and candidates. You can read more here.
I’m not sure it’s something I would do–I don’t mind springing for the conference, but I am NOT paying $200+/night to stay in DC–but it definitely sparked my interest.
Looking at the URL (secure.ourfuture.org), I think it’s very clear that the idea of securing the future is anathema to the average citizen. And frankly, I think it’s more about assuring our future than securing it. I mean, if Bush & Co. have their way, we’re a’headin’ for Armageddon!
:cake::cake::cake::cake:
Happy Birthday, QG!!!
Hope you’re feeling well enough to enjoy it!:40:

kristapea, i’m sorry to hear about your friend. you said that you had no idea about the depression. i wonder if that’s how most suicides happen, where friends and family have no idea. when i was in my middle 30s i counted seven friends who’d committed suicide over the years. one of them had clearly been in trouble and we had tried to help him but didn’t know how. but the other six were total shockers. they all had what appeared to be good lives with good family and friends and we had no warning at all what was about to happen. don’t be hard on yourself for not figuring things out ahead of time and thinking you could have done something. people seem to have extremely private thoughts that they don’t want to share with anyone, and it’s hard to break through that, even for friends.
druid, we’re so ready for the snow, we have extra groceries, extra gas for the generator, laundry all done (have to go to town to do it), we covered our satellite dish with a big plastic bag last night to keep the snow from accumulating on it, we are ready ready ready.
our phone has been out for a week because of the lightening storms, and we can’t climb the mountain behind our house to fix the phone (we don’t have a landline phone here, can’t get one) because of all the snow up there, so the added snow this weekend will make it all the more improbable that we’ll be able to get our phone back any time soon. it’s kinda weird to tell people, hey don’t call, we don’t have a phone, but do write an email, our internet works just fine.
is it actually going to snow in eka? do you take a drive up to the mountains to be in the snow when it happens near by?
Hmmm, the blog seems awfully quiet this morning . . .
Where’d everybody go?
Hey, KP, sorry to hear about your friend. It’s tough to lose somebody you care about, but to lose someone in ths way is even more difficult.
Are we being quiet in honor of quietgirl’s birthday?
Okay, I’ll shut up now.
citizenkahn, what about giving your italian friend some copies of the new yorker. can’t do better than that to get an idea of what it’s like to live in NYC, especially talk of the town.
i had trouble accessing our beloved blog… but seems to be moving again.
Well, I’m going to start the red cross battle now. the prezidunce is coming to hotlana today for a fund raiser,. ONLY in the south will people still give to the evil monkey
If anybody’s loking for a cheap mp3 player, you might want to have a look at today’s Woot.
It’s an RCA Lyra 256MB player with FM tuner and an SD slot to expand the memory, plus they throw in an FM transmitter. $39.95 + $5 shipping. I don’t know anything about them, but a quick search shows they go for about twice that, so I bought one. I don’t need it, but I bought it anyway.
That’s a good point, FB. I also noticed there’s a book of pieces from the NYer, presumably about life in NYC.
I guess, since I’ve lived here almost all my life (except for those years in Bologna), I didn’t feel the need to seek it out in my reading?!?
Hell, I’ve never even been to the Statue of Liberty!
foggyblue I am blocks from the water, so I doubt if ever will snow to a few hundred feet above the water level. :rofl2: I know this sounds strange but I too am set for the snow weather with supplies. I think I just now am use to that pattern. When husband is here (like around Winter Solstice or New Years) then we go to see snow, but not now.
But also I will be honest, hubby is fed up with snow and I am too sad about leaving the snow and being far away from any light that I just will deal with cold rain. Romantic enough I guess — it is still enchanting and charming. Plus, in the dead of night, that is when I still write, about things that gives one a bit of a fright. :omg: :rofl2: 😎

Oh, bloody? It’s a crass sort of saying in Britain, but it’s hard to believe it’s considered offensive. It’s like me saying “damn” or something (if damn was as vulgar as I ever got, I’d be damn near saintly). I’ve been to London, and bloody certainly wasn’t an unusual thing to hear. Or shitty. I mean, just watch some British TV.
I have nothing to add.:omg:

druid, you said you sat in on one of the courtcases for the treesitters, who was the judge, i hope he was from out of town, that’s what i’ve figured out is more important than the facts of the case when there’s an environmental lawsuit in a local court, a local judge isn’t going to rule against big timber no matter what the facts are, dealing with our local judicial system kinda gets us ready for living the next years under the extreme right-wing judiciary that the republicans have put into place.

Hi Everybody…running out this AM for my usual busy-ness…
I have to have a long medical test today and so I spent alot of time burning CDs (they will play a CD for you but you cant bring your iPod in lest it magnetize to death and kill someone as it goes flying….) so I was putting the 3-08 show, which I luckily havent heard yet but removed the commercials from, onto discs…It was too long for one so I had to get into the editing…ugh…
Anyway, Im ready with the funny for while Im in the scary tube and hope I can stay still.
Krista- Im so sorry. No one should have to go through the fallout of something like that. Im also really sorry that your friend was in so much pain. It *is* the quiet ones…and its not the kind of thing where youre depressed and maybe could tell someone…
You have to be watching very closely to see the signs of that and sometimes the signs are totally internal, like withdrawing or losing interest in everything. Its not always obvious.
I guess that what Im saying is that there was nothing you could have done probably unless you were living right on top of this friend ad able to really look close…and even then….sounds like he was really serious and this is what he wanted. I hope he has some peace. Its too bad that he couldnt see another way. Its just sad.
Quiet Girl- Happy Birthday!! Welcome to Adulthood
When I was 18 the drinking age i NYC was 18 but I was going back and forth between LA and for a while Phoenix and NY all the time. I was always kind of freaked out that I could have a drink in the airport before I left and then get off the plane and …not! I ever really got carded and by the time I was living in Santa Cruz I had a fake ID…but still, the idea seemed so wrong!
Anyway, I did more than my share of drinking on, from the time I was 9 or 10 and actually pretty much stopped after I had my son because it started making me sick…I guess it was having been off alcohol for 9 months. I never built back up….now Im really happy not to have that feeling.
Im sure youve had your share already too, but if or if not, just be careful.
I keep hearing about how kids go out on their birthdays and get alcohol poisoning because everyone wants to buy them a drink and there are games at bars and stuff where they will give you 21 drinks for free. I think that was in the Dakotas, go figure, and I know youre a smart lady….but, Im just saying…..
Its really not worth it to be sick tomorrow…so enjoy it but dont over enjoy! There is my Mom moment for the day…forgive me!
Oh, I remember 21 so well….I dont think I would ever go back to my 20’s…30’s were better but I lost alot to having a baby and then toddler; a blur…and 40’s seem pretty much best so far. I hope it keeps getting better! Oprah claims the the 50’s are the best but I think that when she hits 60 we will hear that again!
My birthday is next month on the 23rd…and Im not looking forward to it…45!…and suddenly I have this guy here who is only a couple of inches shorter than me and all adolescent!…how did that happen?
I dont even remember how I got here…and why my eyes are failing….and where those wrinkles came from!!
Off we go into the wild blue yonder!
Is there a Marc show tonight???? I hope so….
Hey Quiet Girl, Happy Birthday! :cake: Are you going to see Marc at the Improv this weekend? I’m thinking about making the drive, I’ve been dying to go on a road trip but I need a good reason. Anyone out here in the west wanna meet me at the Improv?

Cheers, M
ok, i have a theory 💡
i read a coupla years ago about a study in which people were shown the facts of a situation and then shown videos of people who convincingly gave a story that belied the facts.
half of the subjects changed their minds and went with the lying video story and half the subjects stuck to the facts.
the conclusion of the study was that there are two kinds of people , one kind looks at the facts and uses logic and makes up their own minds, the other type looks to other people’s opinions in order to make up their minds, they are quite willing to ignore the facts because that isn’t how they come to conclusions, they depend upon going along with what other people tell them not what they see with their own eyes.
ok, you can tell from the study who are the repubs (go along with someone who tells you a bogus story) and the independent truth-seekers (us, of course).
all my life i’ve tried to REASON with these people because i thought they were operating like i was, but i was wrong. wrong!
so how i take this study into my own political life is this. it seems like all we can do out here in the wilderness of morningseditionists blog and marc’s show etc. is wail on with our logic and facts and hope that some of it seeps in to the brains of the repubs so that they can convince their own kind.
i think this study helps me stop being so frustrated when certain people who don’t want to see the facts or hear the logic. it’s like they are genetically challenged in some basic way.
Terry Jones (of Monty Python fame, though I’m sure I don’t have to explain that to you all) in the Guardian:
druid, are you still here, Judge WATSON, ugh, i have a personal history with that guy, my little group brought a lawsuit against a local timber company about 5 years ago, and watson ruled against us and, get this, he did not write one word about his ruling because he had no legal basis whatsoever for why he ruled against us, so we raised a ton more of money (environmental cases are expensive) and went to the california appeals court, and the judges there (2 repubs and 1 dem) ruled unanimously in our favor. Watson. ugh. grrrr.
Well, I’m not certain the 40’s are the best (being at 45 right at the moment; they are better today than they were two days ago, I must say), but I would be more than happy to just stay here. Getting older and progressing through nature’s pagentry has been wonderful, don’t get me wrong, and while I would just as soon not be 25 again (except, perhaps, for certain parts of me that are a bit worn out – not the naughty bits, either, they are working just fine, thank you), I would also like to stop getting older anytime now.
Given my family history, referring to myself as middle-aged is being rather optimistic, and it’s odd to think that I have more years behind me than I do ahead of me. So I mostly don’t think about that.
I do tend to find myself trying to get things over with, The work day, the work week, the exams, the projects, whatever. I worry that as I find myself taking my last breaths, I’ll realize I’ve succesfully managed to get my life over with.
My wife is convinced that there are many more chances to get it right after this one, but, well, let’s just say I’m not convinced of that. Who knows, though, maybe we’re all part of one big soul group that found an unusual way to reconnect in this lifetime.
platypi, sean you’re correct, platypuses looked weird when i wrote it, but then platypi looks weird, too.
when i asked the question on the machine for rachel i got myself mired in a syntax ()thats the right word. right?) dispute i think i mumbled i think i will call again to leave a clearer message for them to play on the air assuming they answer my question!
Happy B-Day Quietgirl!! :cake:
😆 Yeah PJ I think I would like my 25 year old body back, but keep my 38 year old mind. Not that I am not in good health and very very thankful for that. But I am finding I am more vain than I thought(and as I write this Dr Chesky is trying to get my business!) and find myself actually considering things like botox and/or hgh or whatever else they are hawking. I have several different moisturizers in my bathroom and am searching for the “magic moisturizer” so I can hopefully age naturally but I really don’t like that scowl line and am beginning to see a little of the age spots!:holla:
I’d stay away from the botox and the other medical procedures. I prefer people that look like people, personally. Those people with their skin pulled so tight or the parts of their faces paralyzed seem to think they they look so great, when in reality they look macabre and ridiculous.
Having been single until, oh eight years or so ago, I must admit I continue to be amazed at the plethora of creams, moisturizers, lotions, spackle, and other gunk that exist (and that seem to fill our bathroom shelves).
Personally, I think lines and wrinkles make a person more interesting to look at, and, anyway, who really cares about looks? Since I’m back in school and surrounded by young women (it’s terrible, really), there are those who are certainly attractive. Until you hear them talk. I can’t imagine having to spend any amount of time with them.
Give me somebody I can talk to and be friends with.
i love your thoughts, pj. this one ^ strikes me a few ways. Heard a Unity minister once say that if you believe in reincarnation, then this is the life you’ve been trying to get to. If you don’t believe in reincarnation, then this is your one and only chance to do right. Either way, enjoy it!
On one particularly rough day, I mentioned to my brother that perhaps if I come around again, I’ll get it right. He gasped and said, “NO, what if you come back a Republican by mistake:?: ❗
so i decided to listen to the Unity guy.
Awe PJ! What a sweetie! WHere the HELL are guys like you! Oh, that’s right, I live in a red state. :jerk:
trav, I thought you didn’t like the Iditarod? (the sit down sled is the one for me!)
There are those who are of the opinon that we choose this life and the circumsatnces we are born into as a means of working on the things that we’ve decided we need to improve (during our intra-life reflection). So, if you choose to be a Republican next time around, um, well, you got me there. I can’t see a single thing that that would help. In fact, I think it might set you back a few lifetimes.
I don’t like torture either, but we’ve all seen the pictures. Actually, using dogs or horses for mobility doesn’t bother me too much. But when you drive them to that edge, where every year dogs die from traversing that thousand miles or so, then yeah, I don’t like that game. I just thought you guys would like to see the Alaskan scenery and what not.
Hey, PJ, this kinda look. Is that what your talkin’ about.
EXACTLY!
trav, shit, about how many dogs die each year?
Hey Travis, the link doesn’t work for me, but if it’s from the movie Brazil, yeah, that’s exactly what I meant. I love that movie. I ran in back when I was in the movie business, and I have it on VHS. Robert De Niro was great in that.
Hey, farmerkat! I just looked it up and at least 120! have died since the first race! Not an average dog show, huh?
You must hate ‘merika, then. You’re just givin’ aid an’ comfort to the terrists.
I just recently discovered that movie, man. I also learned about how the big movie business didn’t like how the movie ended, so they decided to :jason:chop it up. Pissed Gilliam off! The movie is pretty bizarre though:bong:
Merika! I love how Bernie Mac talks to ‘merika on his show. It’s good stuff!
trav, are you too far north for peta to stop this thing?
I DID notice how pretty the sky is there, btw.

Bigotry toward Muslims and Anti-Arab Racism Grow in US;
Dubai and the Quran
The constant drumbeat of hatred toward Muslims and Arabs on the American Right, on television and radio and in the press, has gradually had its effect. This according to a Washington Post poll. Even in the year after September 11, a majority of Americans respected Islam and Muslims, but powerful forces in US society are determined to change that, and are gradually succeeding. As they win, Bin Laden also wins, since his whole enterprise was to “sharpen the contradictions” and provoke a clash of civilizations.
that guardian piece on blair is good!
The War on Brains
I do hurricane research. You would think that after the last couple of years NOAA would want to, oh, I don’t know, fund research on how to better warn people against hurricanes?
Apparently not. Our funding for improving how hurricane forecasts and damage predictions are conveyed to decision makers just got killed. :jason: It was only a $25K a year grant, but I’ve got a stack of testimonials from state and local officials (and some NWS forecasters) as to how it helped the last few years. Fortunately, I’ve got other projects (from international agencies), but this sucks since they don’t fund work in the US and for the most part don’t fund providing data to the public. Apparently that was the problem with our project – we provided data to the public that potentially contradicted the party line.
Ignominious.
Good morning, seditionisit! My computer is having hiccoughs and I keep crashing while downloading email. So I’ll be kind of scarce for a while, especially during tonight’s broadcast since if anything interrupts the stream I have to reboot to get it back.
I put a recipe into the blog on AAR’s site but since it’s from a copyrighted source I’m not worried about archiving it here. If anyone wants it, it’s here. I’m especially pleased in that it’s a hummus made from PINTO beans.
It’s snowing here in Portland. I haven’t had to drive in snow in years. It was entertaining…
Well, I guess I am probably the oldest blogger here. I turn the BIG 60 in November. And before you all go 😮 remember Bill Clinton is my age and he doesn’t look so bad, Right? 😀
And yes, Oprah will say 60 is the best when she gets there. I think saying things like 50 is the best or 60 is the best is just a way to make the person feel better. The reality is we have a finite number of years on this planet and the older we are we have less years to live. And, I’ve found that with getting older and having parents die, death becomes less scary because you start to accept it more. I just hope I drop dead someday with out alot of hanging on!
I am an agnostic who leans atheist who was raised in a moderate protestant household. I pretty much believe this is it. Sad, but I think true. At least for me.
Well, have I completely bummed everyone out? I guess the moral to this little story is live your life to the fullest it’s over before you know it. 😯
Yikes..
This road warrior must get out and drive in the snow( B.C. to Seattle)
Looks like Portland is getting slammed.
:alc: Happy birthday quietgirl- wish I could pop down to the Improv this weekend.
Will look forward to an OTIS update when I get home.:billcat::billcat:
methaz, that is such a pitiful statement on this government, but it doesn’t surprise me, which is even more pitiful. It sounds like you have some funding at least. 👿 republicans
blogs are wonderfully functional, because everyone “talks” and age and appearances don’t get in the way. Since you can’t see whether one is young or old you tend to just read the words and wisdom for what they are. We are all ages on this blog and that’s one of the things I love about it. Morning Sedition touched everyone.
This site is great! And that’s not the coffee buzz talkin’ either
sblue fox – be careful! The folks in Seattle don’t have a clue how to drive in snow! :billcat:
Unless there’s a freak storm nothing to worry about.
Love those WDOT webcams!
Good luck with the blood banking today.
Do you have an iPod to get you through?
Yep, me too. I hope to live until I die, and then just die. Hopefully not alone, and hopefully not in my sleep (it’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and I’d hate miss it).
Gypsy, what the heck kind of computer do you have (in terms of processor, memory, etc.). If it used to work OK but is not slow and erratic, it sure sounds like it might be a case of being loaded up with spyware-type stuff.
Looks like we’ve got the rain that everybody had yesterday. Just got in from pleasuring the dog, and it’s about 42, pouring rain, and high winds. Personally, I prefer snow. He’s all set for the day now, though, and should snooze in his chair ’til din-din time.
hey Seditionist!!!!
first off, Kristapea, i’m so sorry to hear about your friend.:( i know that this is a terrible emotional time for you. i’ve never known a person that took their own life, but a few months ago i got a call in the middle of the night saying that my grandpa died of a heart attack. i saw him a few days before and he was pefectly fine. he showed no signs at all. sudden deaths always hurt the most and unfortunately take some time to come to terms with. my thoughts and love are with you through this difficult time.
Second, thanks you guys for already celebrating my Birthday for me :banana::cake::nixon::love:
you guys are the best!!
thanks Druid for the countdown last night:love::40:
so, we’re going to have a blog party on tonight’s show right??:cake::alc::40::banana::doh::bong::hubba::love:
don’t worry Melina, if i go out tonite i won’t over do it. thanks for the wise and lovely words!
holy shit, you guys….i’m 21 today…that’s eerie:cake::nixon::banana::doh::love::omg::40::alc::cake::mrgreen::paranoid::rofl2::banana:
Oh, well, thank God for that. I was starting to worry.
Rumsfeld, Rice Say Iraq Not at Civil War
WASHINGTON – Top members of the Bush administration urged Congress Thursday to quickly pass a $91 billion spending bill that includes money to continue the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said that despite a surge in sectarian violence in Iraq, the process of creating a stable government is proceeding satisfactorily.
Rumsfeld was pressed to explain the U.S. military’s plan to respond in the event that Iraq’s sectarian violence grows into a full-fledged civil war.
“The plan is to prevent a civil war, and to the extent one were to occur, to have the — from a security standpoint — have the Iraqi security forces deal with it, to the extent they are able to,” Rumsfeld said.
Sen. Robert Byrd (news, bio, voting record), D-W.Va., repeatedly pressed Rumsfeld to say what U.S. troops would do if civil war broke out, noting that in his own view the country “only narrowly missed descending into all-out civil war” in recent days.
Hey gang. I was about to chime in on the age discussion when I had to run back to the vet’s office with Otis. (I’m in Queens, the vet is in Manhattan, and it gets a little hairy during the week.) Just got home; they want to give him a transfusion this afternoon, but they have to type him to make sure. He was weaker this morning than yesterday, and he shouldn’t have been; he tested anemic the other day and in fact his red-cell count is down even further.
😥
I was too harried to even freak out about leaving him there; then I raced home b/c I hadn’t even showered, just threw on some clothes (and was dressed inadequately for today’s weather)–I am about to do all that now and then head back in (by train this time) to make a 3:30 chiro appt. Talk about stress!
Anyway, physically my 30s were easier than my 40s, but mentally, I’ll take the 40s, thank you very much!
I’ll be back later with an update.
From CNN:
About freakin’ time. Now let’s close Gitmo.
aww….I hope Otis gets better soon citizenkahn.:billcat: it sounds like it’s a lot of stress, not to mention money, to put up with to get him better. but that fact that you love and care for Otis so much to not even second guess what needs to be done shows your dedication for him.:nod:
Hang in there Otis!! Keep hope alive!!:fist::banana:
that’s awful news about those students in France, but awesome news about Abu Ghraib!
hmmm…it’s a very mixed news day today, isn’t it?:paranoid:
Kristapea!!! seriously, are you coming to see Marc at the Improv??? that would be awesome!!
i know he has a show at 8:30 and a later show.
here’s the line -up for the later show:
Host: Brody Stevens
10:40 Sarah Silverman
10:55 Jarrett Grode
11:05 Jay London
11:15 Marty Belafsky
11:25 Simon King
11:35 Marc Maron
woo-hoo!! Marc’s last?…..headliner??:omg::banana:
but the calendar says 10:30, so i don’t know what to believe.
that would be the best to see Marc this weekend!!:rofl2::banana::doh:
pj, i feel kinda sheepish (ha ha :sheep:le) about talking about basketball, but don’t get too hyped over the half time score for syracuse, the game isn’t over yet.
Happy birthday Quietgirl, have fun tonight!
And Methaz, this grant you were trying to get- do you guys usually get the grant every year? And do you know why they don’t wanna fund you guys in the U.S.?
Interesting articles about the Jay Bennish witch hunt:

I spent five years in Boulder, which is rather liberal, but the rest of the state is Redneck heaven.
I’ve been watching SU for over 40 years now. There is no lead too large, no amount of time to small for Syracuse to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Especially in basketball, where leads can disappear in no time.
It’s just been such a terrible year, sports-wise, here. First the Lacrosse team fails to make the final four for the first time in over 20 years, then the football team has its worst season ever, and now such a shitty year in basketball. We need a break, here.
It may sound dumb to most of you, but with things so crappy out there in the world, it’s just a nice distraction to have – especially at this time of year, when the weather isn’t usually very nice.
Plus, SU games don’t interfere with the Marc Maron show.
:jason:stupid wi-fi i hate it when wi-fi is stupid
pj, i’m an msu fan, they did terrible in basketball this year, one of my sisters is a uconn fan, after msu tanked, i joined her in cheering for uconn. i agree with you about having the relief of basketball, especially college basketball. if ktlk were broadcasting college basketball, i might have more generous feelings towards the games that delay marc’s show until the extreme middle of the night. man syracuse is still ahead 10 points. this is amazing.
yeah especially in syracuse snow capital of new york!
red cross update:
no appointment yet. 4 phone calls and counting…. :rant1:
:blech:thats all i have to say about basketball as entertainment!
Fuck the Red Cross!:fu:
i just had a dessert from a taco johns it was a fried tortilla with apples and cheese very strange but good
Quietgirl, thank you for your kind words. I do love Otis very much and would go to the ends of the earth for him. I still feel so guilty about my previous cat, who appeared to have gotten sick so suddenly and had to be put down, essentially, immediately. He was riddled with cancer and I felt like a bad cat-mommy for not “catching” it sooner. (His vet didn’t catch it either, it was only when I took him to the Animal Medical Center, an amazing state-of-the art veterinary teaching hospital, that they could tell me what was wrong. But then it was too late.) So I’m hypervigilant about Otis, who has already had his share of health problems. I’ve been so frantic today, it hasn’t left too much time for fretting, but still, the idea of a transfusion–in a cat, especially–makes it sound pretty serious.
I’m babbling; gotta get myself out the door, but I wanted again to wish you a very happy birthday. I wasn’t actually encouraging drinking earlier . . . in fact, when I turned 18 (at the time the legal age in NY), I couldn’t even have a drink because I’d recently had pancreatitis. Why can’t I shut up?!?
Happy B’day, QG!
farmerkat, this is ridiculous, your life is on the line and red cross can’t find the time to schedule you for an appointment, saving blood is what they do, it’s not like you’re asking them for something unusual. can’t someone from the hospital/your surgeon’s office/whomever (WE) put pressure on red cross? :growl:
From CNN:
Dubai Ports World has agreed to turn over all of its operations at U.S. ports to a United States entity, said Sen. John Warner, reading a statement from DP World. He said the reason is “to preserve” the strong relationship between the United Arab Emirates and the United States.
Fuck the Arab Emirates!:fu:
hey sean, what do you think of these menus:
menu translations
citizenkahn, i’m sending otis good healing wishes. he’s probably too out of it at the cat hospital to be bothered by what’s going on there. he’ll be home soon. what a totally unnerving day for you. hope the chiropracter appointment makes all the difference in your muscle spasm.
The semi-official Quietgirl poem for her birthday:
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth.
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same.
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I–
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
The semi-official fatherly advice:
Walk with Courage
Speak with Wisdom
Offer Mercy
And Do Justice
:nixon:
that menu is awesome i wonder what freasure tastes like? i know, ask dr maddow!
pj, an overtime win, omg, this is stunning, a second year in a row, you must be ecstatic (do you ever get ecstatic?)!
citizenkahn: I feel for you – it’s very hard having a sick animal, but it seems more so for a cat because they hide it so well. Sending healing wishes to Otis
And I had the same thing happen to me with a prior cat – I didn’t know she was sick until I noticed she couldn’t jump on the bed anymore – when I got her to the vet she was down to 3.5 lbs (she hated being picked up so I didn’t know). She died the following week, and I still feel the guilt. Oh well, we do the best we can – sometimes it’s good enough and sometimes it’s not.
Sending healing wishes to Otis
To be honest, I’d have preferred a 20 point win in regulation. I’m too old to sit through these close games. But, it’s awful nice when they’re over – especially to beat the best team in the country (but, we needed to win, UCONN didn’t). I’m just glad it wasn’t a ten o’clock game or something. I wouldn’t have been able to stand it (plus, I’d probably be pretty toasted right now).
sean, here are some of my favorites:
benumbed hot Huang fries belly silk
slippery meat in kings vegetables in pillar
fragrant spring onion sauce explodescow son
fragrant bone in garlic in strange flavor
shoot, i guess they’re all my favorites.
:fustrate:this wi-fi sucks ass!
:yawn:ok well im going sleep uh later sheeple have to drive to fargo WILL have internet connection!!!!!
Otis ==> feel better, buddy!
 DOC INTERVENES, GOT THE APPOINTMENT (again) WILL GIVE FIRST BAG ‘O BLOOD TOMORROW!
i vant my bloooooooddddd!
PJ, glad your team won – helps with your happy relaxation mode. :40:
off to the teenager’s tennis match (winds are currently gusting, thunderstorms due in ’bout the time the chimp monkey lands for his fundraiser to “help’ our governor. :jason:
PJ, what I have is an old, old computer. It won’t run anything more current than Windows ME. While there may be spyware in there (my last scan said there wasn’t, but who knows…) what’s really breaking down is the system itself. I NEED A NEW COMPUTER! whinewhinewhine….
Yup – been doing this project since 1996 (other hurricane work with USAID and OAS since 1990). Since FEMA was merged with DHS things have gotten increasingly difficult regarding data sharing and information distribution. NOAA/NWS has always been nervous about us because we try to innovate.
:billcat: Hope Otis is better. I have three cats in my office that are positive for Feline leukemia, so every time they sneeze I freak out. The mom was a feral stray that had a litter under the back porch. Only two of the four kittens made it past 4 months, but the survivors are healthy for now (kittens are almost 2 now, mom is about 3.5). Kittens are friendly now. Mom still hisses at me . . . but will accept pounce treats while hissing.
Look in your inbox sheeple, an e-mail from Marc
He wants us to nag our local AAR affiliate. Consider it done. This year, we need to get Maron on the air everywhere and Chris Matthews on the air no where.
As long as we’re posting basketball scores, here’s one just in from the Mid-American Conference tournament in Cleveland:
Akron 72
Western Michigan 57
The team with the dumbest nickname in collegiate sports moves on to play Toledo on Friday, with the conference championship hopefully to follow Saturday night.
If the Zips (told you it was dumb! :omg:) win out, they go to March Madness. If not, the 22 wins they have so far should get them into the NIT. They haven’t been to the NCAAs since a few years after I graduated, so it’s been a while. 😀
We now return you to your regularly scheduled political outrage and funny.
P.S. Happy birthday quietgirl! (again) :cake:
:rofl2:
It is not snowing in Portland.
Who is up for clearcutting?:jason:
I heard yesterday that there was going to be some bad news about Chris Mathews released today. I don’t remember who reported it (Rachel) or what the nature of the report would be. Some sort of conflict of interest. Can anyone here enlighten me?
:bow::nixon::rofl2:
Marc speaks:
:rofl2:
Nicki, this is from http://www.rawstory.com
For some reason big Eddy was casting dispersions on the effort to raise money through donations to save AirAmerica in Phoenix. He seems to be a free market capitalist as well as a liberal ( sounds like he might explode at any moment) and thinks the “market” should determine who lives and who dies. The more I listen to him the more i think he is a plant fake liberal put there to attract the dummies to the DLC way of thinking. … but… he does have a better phone disposition and better guests than Ms Rant does.
It’s not snowing in Seattle either.
I’m home hugging my Otis look-alikes. And out the door to find food.
Sean is making me hungry.
Drove through a good little snowstorm in White Rock which made the border crossing fast then followed the snow plow outta there!
Citizenkahn- I have been there too with the sudden trip to the vet and having to decide to have the love of my life put to sleep.
My cats are indoor (House arrest) and the trips to the vet are seldom. Most things are resolved by homeopathy and buckets of love.
I will keep holding Otis in my thoughts.
I was so white knuckled that I never plugged in the iPod so heard Tyger Tom and Ed Shultz. Shultzy was going on about buying the Phoenix station. He is also not encouraging sending money to the website.
I stopped listening to Schultz a while ago. So he doesn’t have a problem when a mob of fundamentalist Christions pony up and buy KXXT, but has one when a rival mob of progressives wants to do the same. How does the free market figure in all of this?
Schultz has been piggy-backing on AAR from the beginning. He should look at this campaign as an opportunity to get on in Phoenix.
:omg:
:cake: Happy birthday Quietgirl.
Umm, anybody know anything about the Macbook Pro computer. It’s freakin’ expensive–2000 more bucks than I have to spare– but it sure looks cool. I don’t know what’s under the hood and if you “told” me, I don’t think I’d underdstand.:doh:When do you think this sucker will be out of date, though?
Thanks for the Raw Story on Chris Matthews and his huge speaking fees at conservative gatherings. As I wrote earlier in a post that got lost in cyberspace, Chris Matthews is the consummate modern mainstreamer. He fluctuates from center-right to further-right. He sure has some progressives conned. And those speaking fees, which Raw Story claimed had been banned at NBC since 2002. What do those people do with all of that loot? 50 Grand a pop for Chris!
I remember in my college days when we invited Allen Ginsberg to read at our school. Along with an elaborately detailed list of items he required at the reading–parson’s table, straight-backed wooden chair, single glass of water, etc.–his fee was $300. A few years later, Noam Chomsky asked for $800. What do we make of this?
:omg:
:omg: Exactly!
Yeah, that’s a pretty stupid thing for Schultz to say considering he is not heard here in Phx anymore. And isn’t raising donations from folks who want to listen to AAR free market? Goyette does not support it either but that’s typical of him.Maybe he has a gig somewhere else already and AAR in Phx would be competition for him. He claims to be the most independant talk show host in the country and he sure is. There is money to be made in a market as big as Phx where there is NO progressive talk radio. Why is it getting so damned difficult to listen to what I want anymore!
Conservatives are greedy and only think about money.
We need another radio program or two on in the 3 pm to 7 pm time slot to give some alternatives to Ms Rant and big E. Toni whats his name used to be on Radio Power but he quit to run for office in Michigan.
That there’s a lot of money to made being a loudmouthed idiot.
And these people that gush all over a “free market” and then manipulate the market by lobbying congress people with all of their money. Free markets are only for rich people apparently.:fu:
Ohhh… Sammy is doing 7 hours on the air today.. I hope MR is exciting or we may get some live ZZZ’s
Sammy doin’ sound effects for a dildo !! :rofl2:

HEY, MELINA! Is that a MRI machine thing that you had to go in today? Is this test related to the weird Bronchitis episode?
thanks Andy for the poem and Birthday advice:love: i love Robert Frost and especially that poem:nixon:
hello seditionists. I’m coming to you from my phone..audiovox verizon 6700
I tried all day to sign in with no luck…even made a couplea new accounts to no avail…but now have been on with the verizon tech to set up email etc… and have worked it out.
I see a mail from Marc here so will go and get on the puter…is that XM I see…YAY!!!!
Agreed. The free market is an orwellian con. The economy needs money to grease its wheels, or we go into depression. That’s what keynesianism is all about.
Why are some of the progressive radio hosts against the campaign to buy another Phoenix station? AAR seems to be uniformly on board. Perhaps we should check where the non-AAR progressive liberal stand on the campaign.
Stephanie M?
J Marvin?
The San Francisco Stable?
Is Tyger Thom on board?
Phil Goyette is against. I never listened to him, but I assumed he would be in support. Perhaps he fears “mob action” by progressives.
:omg::rofl2:
America
America I’ve given you all and now I’m nothing.
America two dollars and twenty-seven cents January 17, 1956.
I can’t stand my own mind.
America when will we end the human war?
Go fuck yourself with your atom bomb
I don’t feel good don’t bother me.
I won’t write my poem till I’m in my right mind.
America when will you be angelic?
When will you take off your clothes?
When will you look at yourself through the grave?
When will you be worthy of your million Trotskyites?
America why are your libraries full of tears?
America when will you send your eggs to India?
I’m sick of your insane demands.
When can I go into the supermarket and buy what I need with my good looks?
America after all it is you and I who are perfect not the next world.
Your machinery is too much for me.
You made me want to be a saint.
There must be some other way to settle this argument.
Burroughs is in Tangiers I don’t think he’ll come back it’s sinister. . .

Norman Finkelstein Speaks
by Nell Geiser ; March 09, 2006
As a Jewish student who is looking forward to Norman Finkelstein’s speech on campus tonight, titled “Israel & Palestine: Misuse of Anti-Semitism, Abuse of History,” I am disappointed there’s been such misinformed debate about his visit. Maryum Saifee and Athar Abdul-Quader explained Monday on this page (“In Defense of Professor Finkelstein,” March 6) that inaccurate accusations hurled at Finkelstein only stifle productive dialogue. Since many of the charges levied against him seemed to be based on emotional appeals and not on facts, I decided to talk to professor Finkelstein myself to clarify his argument in his new book Beyond Chutzpah.
I asked Finkelstein to talk about the misuses of anti-Semitism in relation to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He explained, “If you look at the historical record on the Israel-Palestine conflict, the past, if you look at the human rights record, the present, or if you look at the diplomatic record, the future, on how to resolve the conflict—if you look at those three records, it’s quite striking how broad is the consensus and how uncontroversial the record is. … In fact, it’s hard to think of another, as it were, trouble spot in the world where the record is so unambiguous and so straightforward.”
“An obvious question arises—namely, how do you account for so much controversy, which, once you enter the public arena, swirls around the conflict that, if you look at the actual documentary record, is not controversial at all. And that’s the question I pose in the introduction to my book. And the answer I suggest is that most of the controversy surrounding the Israel-Palestine conflict is fabricated, contrived. And the purpose of that fabrication and contrivance is to divert attention from the actual factual record and to sow confusion about the real record.” […]

that’s what I’m using – disclaimer: it’s mr farmer’s not mine. Beautiful screen blah blah. I don’t use half the stuff on it (I’d never buy it) but he can edit film and do all kinds of stuff with it and loves it. he took his company dell piece of crap to baghdad so I could use this
i’ve been enjoying sam in place of randi. i enjoyed mike in her place, too. she can be good if she sticks to her informed rants. but her mimics of late was bugging me. maybe vacation will do her good.
MARC – i wrote XM and I’ll DO IT again.
now what is that atlanta affiliate?
thunder-boomers in Birmingham and are headed our way…mr bush should hit some big turbulance on his way out of here.
Stay with me people.
Maron
Awwwweeee that was sweet! :love::fire::fist:
I have the day off today….Yeeeeaaahhhhh!
Hey, Jason. Stay with me. Hell, we’ve been here all along!
farmerkat, do you think all of us writing to xm and asking for marc’s show helped him? i was irritated that xm never responded to any of us, but if they give marc his own show, i’ll forgive them.
the email from marc today is such good news i have to dance around the room. plus there are still lots of hours left in the day to keep on celebrating quietgirl’s 21st birthday (been through 3 of them myself, they were all great, makes me a tad bit older than you, isi).
once marc’s show is on satellite, will it then be possible for him to get syndication because start and stop times will be predictable?
it’s snowing heavily here. have to broom off the satellite dish to connect with the internet. not used to snow. but it’s lovely.
I know pj but it’s nice waking up to some Marc in your inbox….
Do you think Marc is keeping himself up to date on the seditionists blog? I hope so….
FarmerKat- you really have the newest Macbook Pro?
Wow:mrgreen:- I would advise Travisdem to read the discussion groups on Apple to see what the problems are- if any.
First Generation products are dicey. I was on board with the first GEn iPod and had to suffer through two frozen pods before I got one that worked.
My Dad may be getting one so we can see how he does with it.
I don’t know. He’s probably more concerned with trying to do the best show he possibly can.
I saw somebody from AAR here yesterday around 3PM Eastern time. I wonder if it was Pashman, since he’d be in the studio doing Randi’s show at that time. Of course, somebody’s usually here in the morning, too. I’m guessing it’s Riley. Whoever it is, usually uses the link from Camp Butch to get here.
PJ!:omg:
You’re like:santacool:
Hey Travis- Yes, it was a special new high def MRI…in the tube!!…and not about the bronchitis (though I still seem to have that a bit,) but a booby scan because of something suspicious that they have been looking at for 6 months. If anyone reading this doesnt like girl medical talk then skip on by now…It was the loudest most horrible tube that Ive been in. I was told that I could listen to a CD but it turned out that I had to be on my stomach with boobies through holes hanging down with guide stickers on nips….I just couldt help but laugh…can you believe that? Add a IV for contrast on an auto pump so they could dye it whenever they wanted to …and the tube sound so loud that it was like a NYC high decible fire siren right next to your ear…so every time I got relaxed with my yoga breathing (and I hadnt taken any valium or anything because I was told that my head would be out and that I could listen to my CD!) the thing would shock me…and there I was in this painful contraption and then shocked into reality with my arms overhead and IV; boobies through camera contraption…
So after 40 or so mins of this I was ready to go and get one of those scrumptious new cupcakes at Starbucks or some sour straws or something sugar and caffeine….and then they say, oh you have to have another Mammogram.
Who was it that described a mammogram as like slamming your boobs in a refrigerator door hard over and over?!….So it was insult added to injury!…and took the better part of 2 hours, leaving just enough time to hit the market and come back here to fight with my phone, son ad lonely dogs….no cupcakes…just lean cusine and Survivor.
Im not worried about it because if it is something, its a slow growing something, that has not changed in 6 months…so Im not gonna go crazy. One doctor thought it was nothing 6 months ago…and then a doctor a few weeks ago was worried….so…whatever….
On the upside I met the most incredible puppy today. A tiny 1 lb chihuahua who was 9 weeks old…I took movies of her with my phone. She was $1700…too rich for my blood and imagine the number of dogs who could be saved with that money…but, boy was she cute;-)
I heard somebody say “shit” on Sam Seder’s show. :omg: “Dump it!”
Iranian Democracy Czar!:jason::jason::rofl2: Cheney is a dick!:rofl2:
GYPSY— also, try to see if your fan is running …and feel the tower or body if its a laptop and see if its hot. You ca take the cover off of the tower and see how it runs if the air circulates around it. If its a laptop you migth have to get it a cooling pad. Also go to Kim Komando dot com and look under downloads and get a couple of the shareware adware removers. I use Ad-aware, but she has alot of em and she suggests using a few at a time, at least once a day. Even dowloading one and running it should help with your crashes. Also look through your files and programs and see if there is anything you can dump…
The heat issue and the adware issue are both probably the top things…beyond that maybe you need some more RAM.
Its very cheap and easy to pop in.
Let us know what exactly happens when it crashes…and what kind it is.
Gypsy- I just saw your note about your computer being old and worn out…I know about that;-)
Travis, do you like Macs?
I had to get a little one for my son for his school and I really dont like it. I think that its not very intuitive…certainly not as much as I thought it would be. Alot of it makes no sese, but maybe I have to learn more about it. It took a really ong time for me to figure that Safari was explorer…and then I was pissed because its just too cute for me.
I really like the new Dell laptops…but I hate MIchael Dell…
I used a company named Monarch for my most recent desktop because they are American based and dont outsource anything. Recently when the thing started to freeze and crash they send someone to my house and he replaced the motherboard and memory…I was still in warranty and there was no india runaround to get service, like with Dell these days.
But the Dells are fantastic….and boy do I want that Media center!
PJ- Uconn is the college I finally graduated from (4 colleges and 17 years later!) Go Huskys!!
Of course, Im not a sporty girl at all…so congratulations to you Syracusians.

I see that there is no Snippers game tonight…but tomorrow there is one at 5:30 PT….so is Marc on tonight?
Ive been listening to so much Sam Seder…I cant believe that Jeaneane takes so much time off! and that he fills in for everyone! I wish they had asked Marc to fill in for Randi!
I need the funny bit I also need the politics!
Yeah, yeah, I have a dell, but the crappy dimension 3000 :blech: I like it–beats the hell out of being computerless and not reading the web everyday and what not. I want to get the dell xps laptop someday or the macbook pro, I just don’t know enough about computers to make an educated purchase, so I’m going off of what you guys implant in my brain.Oh, and I’m broke, so by the time i can buy what you think is good, it may not be so when I can afford it:doh:
That Scan and Mammo didn’t “sound” pleasant at all. I hope you get your results soon and they’re the good kind.
I’ve just about hit the infamous sleepy time delusional state, again. I’m beat. OK, beat and brain dead, ’cause I got nothin’.
Sweetness, I got mail!
Marc subbing for Randi would be great! Of course Danny the Dick would never allow that. :sammy:
Hi Melina, Marc on tonight, but no show tomorrow due to Pac-10 tournie.
Hey, isi, I thought I was the oldest one here at age 50!!
I don’t much care for 50, actually, though it beats the alternative. I find that my workouts cause injury now, my face is REALLY starting to change, middle-aged spread is setting in with a vengeance. And yet in terms of mental health I’m in better shape than I ever was when I was young.
Kristapea, I’m so sorry about your friend. I had a femily member die that way a long time ago, and it’s devastating.
What are you guys hearing about Air America’s lease on WLIB? There seems to be some talk that the lease is not being renewed, which would take AAR off the air in NY after 3/31. Danny the Dick has sent memos to the staff saying it’s not true, and the source where all the other sources are getting their info from seems to have an axe to grind with AAR….but does anyone know for certain?
Wouldn’t it be funny if Marc was better off with the new show and having been fired than if Morning Sedition had contnued?
Have to go. “The Immortal Yi Soon Shin” is coming on. Later.
Brill, Im trying to think of who doesnt have a axe to grind with AAR…from the premium members waiting for their podcasts in the morning to those of us unhappy with the change in lineup, to the repubs who want AAR to not exist, to the hosts who must feel pretty badly about how they and some of their co-workers have been treated.
Doesnt everyone have a axe to grind there?
I think that the next CEO should be Chris Matthews! I nominate Chris!
I do the gym thing alot when I can but my knees are destroyed ad as I get older its alot of aches and pains…It keeps me in shape though and feeling better…Mentally Im so much better now, but that always waxes and wanes and really went down after 9-11 and as the Bushies screwed everything up…just alot of wonder and worrying…
But I do feel more centered and stable…and if course the kid is older!
Ive been doing some Reti A type stuff for years and ever went in the sun so hopefully I will not have to face the botox issue for a good long time. I tried it once and it only took in a V on my forehead, so I looked really funny!
Im not against plastic surgery but I wouldnt want a tight overly done thing….
Well, Ive had a very hard day and am gonna sleep now…
Trav..Im on an Inspiron 5100…easy to upgrade the RAM on these too! you just pop it in the bottom. Does yours have XP?
Also, the Dells configure to something like $3000 if I let myself go wild in the configuration part of the site…and they have that easy payment option….so tempting, yet I am in debt already up to my eyeballs so I would have to have this one break totally…and so far it hasnt….
But I am waiting for it to go. Still have to replace the keyboard.
Nite all….enjoy the show!! Have a great birthday QG!!
Has Tucker Carlson’s show on MSNBC been cabcelled? I did not see it on the schedule today/:no::omg::nixon::jason:
Its raining in Birmingham and my bf flew to Japan for the month of March. So I’m bored. I love Marc Maron. I’ve set my computer to record tonights stream. Hope it works out. I hate not having Marc’s funny to keep me smiling during my morning drive. Do any of you guys think Marc’s show would benefit if he had a straight man like Riley on the new show? Someone to act as a direct opposite to Marc? I liked the interplay between Marc and Mark on Sedition. No one on the new show seems to want to “chime in” and I’ve noticed Marc’s aggrevation with Jim or maybe that was just part of the game? Overall I like the show and I’m certain it’ll only get better. Just wished it aired in the mornings like the good ole days. Hugs and kisses to my BF if you’ve arrived in J by now. I guess its already Friday there huh.
Hey, what are the factors that determine the rate of the page generation? It’s at 24.086 sec. right now:omg:
Anyway,
Sunday, March 12
Q&A: MSNBC’s Keith Olbermann
On C-SPAN at 8pm ET
Concerning Windows v. Mac machines. I have a Dell laptop and a new Apple Intel Imac. And I’ve owned more Windows machines than Macs. The main thing I notice on my Mac is that it is very stable, a very reliable machine. It does not “CRASH”. And I have absolutely no problem with spyware unlike my Windows machines. I did purchase a antivirus program (for this my second Mac) since it has the Intel processor. The operating system of the Macs are beautiful. but take some getting used to by Windows users. If I can find my way around on a Mac . . . anyone can. After awhile you’ll find yourself rarely using Windows anymore. This Intel Imac screams! Boots faster than any Windows computer I’ve ever owned and the programs run as smooth as silk . . . can silk run? Hmm. One thing most ppl gripe about is the lack of software on a Mac. It ain’t so. Microsoft makes a Mac version of Office. And the preinstalled software on a Mac has just about all most ppl will ever need. I love me Dell laptop, but I love my Imac better. Wished I could afford the new Macbook Pro laptop from Apple, but I’m not a rich Republican and Geo W. Bush isn’t giving me any tax breaks. So until my boat comes in and its long overdue, I guess I’ll be thankful for what I have. Cheers ppl. We all love Marc Maron. F*** Yeah.
Thomas, are you for real? Really? Thanks for the advice about the Macs and Dells of the world. I’m still in the dark about the Computer stuff, though.
I think I’ve been on this blog too long, you seem like a mixture of all the fellow bloggers and I guess I’m a little paranoid. I’ve been waiting for the neo-cons to infiltrate our little boat that’s been docked for almost two weeks now. I’ve speculated that they would pose as one of us:paranoid::paranoid::billcat:
OK, my sleepy time delusions have taken over, so I guess I have to hit the hay and say goodnight. Later sheeple:peace:
I mean, say goodnight and hit the hay. I had that backwards:doh:
A lady told me recently that she had always assumed I was a Republican. That is until she noticed the “F the President” sticker on the rear window of my car. I live in a bastion of Bush lovers here in Birmingham, Alabama. I guess most ppl elsewhere think most Alabamians are rednecks, beer drinkers and Republicans. I donno what happened to me as a little boy to cause me to see the light. I guess it was because I’m gay. Republicans don’t seem to like us to much. So I’m a really liberal guy surrounded by a bunch on nuts here in Birmingham with their “W the President” stickers and it tickles me to no end to see their reaction in my rear view mirror. I’m so bad and I like it. Cheers!
