First!!!!
And I read somewhere that we might have upto 1 extra hour of Maron tonight.
Yes a long show :nixon:

ck, heading to the doc?
Good Morning Seditionisti,
So does the extra time on tonight and Thursdays show make up for the time lost last night?
Anybody know how many premium subscribers signed up just for Maron? Think premium subscriptions spiked after Maron’s show was announced/debuted. There will be days when there will be only one hour shows or no shows at all even though AAR anounced that Maron will be on weeknights 10PM-midnight PT and had a bunch of listeners sign up for premium.:mad::mad: AAR kept the problems with KTLK and the sports shit under wraps all throughout :fu:
Will see if AAR can put the extra hour tonight as part of the podcast. I am sure they will fail đĄ
A Franken rerun is more important to AAR than Maron’s live show. Danny :fu:
hchaddha: I think you mean “premium” (note the quotes). We have a new rule here . . .
will the marc maron show be regularly broadcasted once it’s syndicated? Doesn’t it have to be?
i’m not too happy with aar’s handling of the “premium” service, but i keep reminding myself it was at least a vote of support (however minimal) for the show.
[oops, thank god for the edit feature]
Ah thanks CK. I stand corrected.
“Premium subscription” aka shafted.
Bob @ AAP is having a hard time. Subscribers complain of incomplete shows, no shows, etc etc. If things continue as is, I wonder how long Bob will be around to do AAR’s work.
Have I mentioned lately how much I HATE Bush đż and the Republicans??
Yup, FK. I’m going to bundle up (it’s 28 degrees here) for the 1/3-block trip in about half an hour. If I get there before his scheduled appts, there won’t be as long a wait. (For a PCP, he’s got that old-school mentalitiy of actually listening to his patients. The downside is, that continually f’s up his schedule. He’s not the most organized guy, but he’s great about giving referrals, so–for now–I’ll keep him!)
I’m definitely worse today–I just don’t remember my throat being sore this long when it wasn’t laryngitis. Usually by the time it’s in my nose or chest, the sore throat is gone. I don’t have a fever (98.7), though, so I’m not sure what to make of this.
Slept downstairs with Otis again; hubby offered to many times, but I just wanted to be with him on his first night without all the apparatus. (Besides, I can always go upstairs and nap on the bed today. It’s not like I’ll be going anywhere . . . after the doctor.)
Otis is doing well. I think we’ll see leaps and bounds now that he’s not constrained by an e-collar and tube. He gave himself the longest bath in history yesterday afternoon. (It had been 2 weeks since he was able to give himself a thorough bath–without someone rushing to put the e-collar back on him.) And he was self-sufficient throughout the night, never waking me for help, although I heard him doing his thing (eating, drinking, using the box). So I’m hopeful.
ANV posted this yesterday, worth a repost:
Yes Farmerkat, the “premium” service is meant to support the show. But all of us wanted a regular show. Not on day offs for the Skippers or UCLA :spank:. I am sure a lot more people would sign up for “premium” if the show is regular and AAR decides to show more commitment to Maron.
As of now, those outside the KTLK area have to depend on an overloaded KTLK stream đĄ and QG to announce that the show has started. Thanks QG
If the stream does not work, then its Melina/PJ  or Fred’s announcement  about the torrents.

crap, isi, that sucks. i’m there with you.
ck, sounds like you may be able to close camp otis soon and get a good night’s sleep in your own bed; you need it I think.
Comment by hchaddha => they need to get rid of danny goldgrinch, the dysfunction starts at the top and trickles down,
Does syndication mean that AAR must carry Maron on their stream and have regular podcasts unless Maron is off?
That would kind of mean that Maron was right about :jason: Danny spending all his time playing solitaire.
I am not sure Danny would let Maron be a regular at AAR :rant1:
You know, there was a time in human history where discoveries of new facts which were provable were called “Science.”
There was this guy named Newton who helped figure out gravitation and movement.
But he just did it because he thought those were things that humanity needed to understand.
Too bad Newton was too stupid to patent his Principia Mathematica.
Too bad Euclid was too stupid to patent his insights into geometry and arithmetic.
Too bad Stephen Hawking was too stupid to patent his theories of black hole formation and radiation.
Idiots. How did humanity even survive while these stupid scientists were discovering the universe and giving us the answers *for free*???

Yup, things are going super in Iraq! :billcat:
“We may never know the true number of people killed. But it seems reasonable to conclude that while people died in clashes between the KLA and Yugoslav forces… the picture painted by Nato – of a systematic campaign of Nazi-style ‘genocide’ carried out by Serbs – was pure invention.” (Degraded Capability, The Media and the Kosovo Crisis, edited by Philip Hammond and Edward S. Herman, Pluto Press, 2000, p.129)
i dunno, nicki, mr was there and saw several mass graves (he also went by himself up in the mountains with the kla)
Nicki, do you not agree with our intervention in Bosnia and Kosovo.
From what I remember, Clinton was criticized for waiting too long to intervene.
The supposed genocide in Bosnia and Kosovo was pretty well documented by cable news organizations and the BBC long before NATO ever thought of maybe thinking about doing anything about it. The pictures were so gut wrenching that I can remember a discussion of whether we should send in troops or withdraw CNN.
:gate:
gotta be celbrating today!
Seems like I remember a famous interchange between Christiane Amanapour and Pres Clinton, where she kinda got in his face about why he and the world weren’t doing anything about what was happening in Bosnia.
Kent Jones was talking about the big peace rally/meeting of artistic types in NYC last night and called them surrender monkeys. While that is a standard reich wing media description of anyone against the war it is also beginning to apply more and more to the American left in terms of facing up to the Rethugs.. I hope we find that all the concern over the vote being rigged will dissipate in a tremendous Democratic victory this November.. but.. we seem to be seriously ready to just hunker down and accept defeat if we really have to do something other than that requiring cardboard tubes and construction paper. Allowing these people to remain in power both in DC and in state governments will cause tremendous hardships among those who remain in the American middle class and maybe even a nuclear war.. I don’t think we can afford to have them win another election illegally.
that’s who he worked for at the time. death threats and bounties on their heads were a daily part of his life.
Frankly, I think we intervened in Bosnia because what was going on there made the teevee. Americans saw a bunch of people that looked just like most of white America, and demanded a response.
In contrast, Rwanda is difficult to get to, difficult to cover, media-wise, and is is full of dark-skinned people who are very easily painted as “savages.” Therefore, we didn’t intervene, and Africa continues to be ignored, except to the extent that its natural resources can be exploited.
Yeah, Fred, I’m just now listening to Will and Willie, and they’re talking about the decertification of the voting machines in CA, and Willie is poo-pooing the idea that election outcomes were altered, and that it would be “so hard” to go to paper-only ballots.
If you’re going to have to these electronic machines, you need to have them spit out a receipt that verifies how you voted. If it’s correct, you deposit the receipt in a box. If it’s wrong, you tell the poll watchers, and they cancel your vote, and you go again. Paper recounts should be triggered, not by how close the election is, but if the official tally varies from the exit polling by more than a statistically significant amount.
Personally (and I say this as a person who loves tech and gadgets), I think it should all be done on paper ballots. Make the election districts smaller, buy pizzas for the volunteers from all concerned partties, and sit down and count. I don’t need to know before the 11 o’clock news who won. You can take as much time as you need. In fact, take a week to vote, so you needen’t wait in huge lines just because the Republicans are trying to disenfranchise you.
Now that we have seem the true colors of the reich wing rethugs a lot of things congress has done or not done over the last 12 years or so is better understood. The dems in general do things to help people the rethugs only do things if they or some of their benefactors can make a buck off it. The USA is beginning to look not like the greatest country on earth but the biggest fraud on earth.
I think you are probably right, PJ. Clinton acknowledged that he “blew it” with regard to Rwanda.
the person you mention whose name begins with A and ends in r makes me :growl:
she sat in safety and “reported” what the reporters were reporting… was scared of the bounty on her head and refused to go back out; but hey, those other guys can handle it. lost ALL respect for that person. pissed the living hell out of me (now how do i really feel?)
later guys
Okay, so I’m not talking about the issues. So sue me.
Just wanted to hop on to say that IT’S STREP! (And you guys diagnosed it correctly–without benefit of a home-made video!) I was wrong about the fever, too; my temp has has gone up slightly and is now considered low-grade. He prescribed Zithromax, as predicted, and I was going to use the stockpiled pills, but they looked awfully pink to me, like they had already “turned.” So I guess I’ll be making a run to my wonderful pharmacist in a couple hours. (His shipment of Z-Paks is due in around noon.)
Cruel fate! (I exaggerate of course.) Just as Otis is getting stronger and needs less hands-on attention, I get to . . . stay home! đĽ
You must give us the inside scoop on all of these media people some day, FK. We’ll attribute anything you say to “unnamed sources.”
Or, more aromatically, “the fish stinks from the haid.”
Get better fast, CK. I hate being sick – no time in the schedule for it. Good thing Otis is feeling better, though.
Good to know about A**R đ
hey sheeple shitty drive last thirty miles my mirror was all iced up! oh well i made it safe and sound anyway uhhh yeah so anti-flag have mcdermott on their album i like those guys think i will go pick it up today!
Zithromax is a big gun !!!Hope is works fast â
CK–Check the date on the Zithromax. Pink is okay, really. If they’re more than 2 years past “expiration date”, chuck ’em. otherwise, get started. Take 2 today, 1 for the next 4.
Phoener, RPh
:fire: Sean, you anywhere near these parts??
Thanks, guys. Actually, the editor I’m working with on this (one-title-left!) series said that the fact that I can get sick now shows how much better things must be going with Otis. I see her point. So I guess, in a weird way, I’m grateful–if uncomfortable!
Phoener–the expiration date is 3/1/06. Until I actually popped the pill out of the card I thought I’d be fine. You really think they’re still good? (I mean, I know they’re pink to start out, they just seemed darker than they should be.)
Yes, they’re fine. Go for it. Get better.
isn’t this special?
Bush calls Howard with cyclone tips
By Brendan Nicholson
March 22, 2006
PRIME Minister John Howard was in the middle of a radio interview early yesterday morning when the White House rang to say President Bush wanted to talk to him about cyclone Larry.
President Bush, who took a hammering in the United States over the slowness of his response when hurricane Katrina battered New Orleans last year, clearly wanted to get in early this time.

Thanks, pj. It worked. I just wanted to say something about Sam (er Al) being on in st. Louis. Yippee!!
a friend told me that Laura Ingrim (spelled wrong butwho cares?) was on the Today show this a.m. and said that the nbc reporters in Iraq just lean out their balconies and then report the news from Iraq. i spoke with Baghdad (he made it back) There are some very very angry reporters throughout that network, I’m hearing. I’m trying to find a transcript. … ok here is part of it from an evil side.

Ooh. I feel icky for looking at that “newsbusters” thing. I tried to find the transcript on Lexis, but I guess they don’t consider the Today show as news. Which, generally, it isn’t.
Maceda is cool, nice guy I hear-tell đ
pj, those sites are amazing. we need to keep seaniesean from visiting those places, it isn’t good for truck karma.
gotta go cut up a gazillion apples for the tennis match today.
I just voted too. “No” is down to 84%. Fuckin’ morons.
This (from New York magazine) is the second article I’ve read in the past month about the 9/11 conspiracy theorists. (The other was in the Village Voice.) Made for good reading while I hung out on the airbed with Otis (recuperating nicely–my camera battery’s low or I’d post a new photo) and Elwood (total goofball).
(The article in the Voice was more derisive, I thought.)
Just trying to push us to 100 comments. I’m done now!
Wonderful, wonderful news:
Otis’s vet just called. His bloodwork from yesterday has come back COMPLETELY NORMAL! His chemistry is fine, his rbc is up to 31 (in the normal range now), and we can start cutting back on his meds!!!
The vet said this was probably perioperative “drug insult” (the drug in question being the IV antibiotics he was given post-op), although we’ll never know for sure. But the test they’d done for a possible parasitic cause (hemobartonella) came back negative on Friday (took a week to get the results) so, with everything lookin’ good, he may be able to taper off the immunosuppressant over 4 weeks–instead of the “several months” they’d originally said. Yay!!!:banana::banana:
Now I can go upstairs and collapse, safe in the knowledge that my little friend is indeed on the mend!
:peace: Cool, CK!!!
Does anyone think Marc’s show will be longer than 3 hours tonight?? I want to make sure I tune in :ear: early enough.

um, hi. hi? I think I was one of the very first MS blogpeople (same blog name), but I eventually got burnt out by many a thing, though I listened right up to the last painful moment.
I’ve had to take a massive pay cut since the start of this year, so I really have cut out all subscriptions and some other things, too. Is subscribing to premium the only way to hear the new show? Is it even on in NYC while I sleep?
PS: Hi CK! Glad Otis is healing! I’ll email you soon…
Hey, LMCP!!!!
Great to see you here. First off we call it “premium” (note the quotes), which gives you an idea how well AAR is taking care of the subscribers.
Second, you can capture the stream if you’re willing to pay $50 for ReplayAV (which is a one-time thing) and don’t mind setting up your computer to do so. (I did this, and in fact am backlogged about a week’s worth, what with all the Otis stuff.)
Or, you can get it free once the bittorrent comes up, if you’re comfortable with that. (And then there are the kind folks on this blog who have clever ways of making the files available to you. I’d offer myself, but most of my attempts have failed. :()
Yes, please e-mail me! (Once I’m over this strep, I’d love to get together again!)
i called ktlk to see if they had program info for tonight, but had to leave a message, so i don’t know either what i should schedule on replay…….i guess i’ll go long before and after, gotta say it is less confusing with the podcast…
Could be. When the games have started at 7:30, the show is trypically delayed for an hour and change, so figure 3 1/2 hours for the game and postgame show. The game tonight starts at 5:00, so I’d say the show could start anywhere from 8:30 PST on. I have my replay set for 11:30, my time. Hopefully I won’t miss anything.
Hi LMCP. Yeah, what CK said. The show is only on KTLK right now, so it’s either stream it live, record the stream, or subscribe to the “premium” service. There’s also bitTorrent. If you’re not familiar with what bitTorrent is, there’s a page linked over there on the right under “pages” that has a quick description of what it is, and what you might need. ReplayAV works well to record the stream (if you use Windows), but it isn’t free. There are freebie programs you try, but they may or may not be a pain to use. Your best bet would be to do a google search to see what’s out there. There’s also a page over there with a little bit of info on recording streaming audio, with a link to some instructions that Melina was kind enough to write up for using ReplayAV.
Good luck, and glad to see you here.
Re: post #98. I totally linked to the wrong picture to illustrate what a goofball Elwood is. Try this one.
Thanks PJ and CK… maybe I can record the stream. I miss Marc. đ And Lawton… and the Cardinal… and… well, no use enumerating it for the choir. Thanks again! I’ll try to stop by now and again.
Gee, thanks a lot “W” :rant1:

Senators Smith & Wyden: Clinton’s Affair Deserved Censure, So Does Bush’s Spying
Contributed by Working Assets
Back in 1999, twenty-four Senators co-sponsored a resolution to censure President Clinton for his conduct during the Monica Lewinsky affair. Now, however, those very same twenty-four — including Senators Smith and Wyden from Oregon — refuse to support Senator Feingold’s motion to censure President Bush for his illegal wiretaps. A simple comparison of the two Presidents’ conduct shows that position to be deeply hypocritical.
President Clinton engaged in an extramarital affair and then deceived the public — and a grand jury — about his conduct.
President Bush, on the other hand, has openly broken the law…:omg::mad:
What is with Wyden? He was great on the Alito filibuster!
Some good news on the fundraising front…

I don’t think the Repigs’ total includes that $10 million from Katherine Harris, though.
:rofl2:
It would be wonderful if this condition persisted through November. Aw, c’mon, a guy can dream, can’t he? :jerk:
I heard somebody on Will and Willie say that the Democrats are afraid that talk of a censure will give Bush a boost in the polls.
Wyden is a “politician”. How are the DLC types spinning this hypocrisy” I should listen to Randi Rhodes, she frequently spews the party-line on such things. (Remember Kerry’s votes on enabling Bush to invade Iraq? Lots more examples down the memory hole.)

That worked well until winter arrived and I found that they didn’t keep you as cozy as the incandescents ones did so I changed them back. Maybe your cat is trying to tell you something.
What we’ve done with our economy is very similar to what Adolf Hitler did with his. We turn out airplanes and other weapons systems in huge numbers. This leads us right back to 1991 when the Soviet Union finally collapsed. We couldn’t let the Cold War come to an end. We realized it very quickly. In fact, there are many people who believe that the thrust of the Cold War even as it began, especially in the National Security Council’s grand strategy document, NSC68, rested on the clear understanding of late middle-aged Americans who had lived through the Great Depression that the American economy could not sustain itself on the basis of capitalist free enterprise. And that’s how — my god – in 1966, only a couple of decades after we started down this path, we ended up with some 32,000 nuclear warheads. That was the year of the peak stockpile, which made no sense at all. We still have 9,960 at the present moment…

Yes. Randi Rhodes is good on most issues. She still can be quite the Democrat apologist. It tends to blunt her resolve.

War Crimes
by Herbert P. Bix; March 21, 2006
Three years ago, after having totally fabricated a crisis over Iraq, the Bush regime, with the support of the British government, most of the Congress, and a majority of U.S. citizens launched an illegal invasion and occupation of Iraq. US military forces destroyed the Iraqi state, wrecked its civilian infrastructure, mistreated its Sunni population, and set ethnic groups against one another, thus preparing the ground for the civil war that now threatens to become full-scale.
From these supremely evil U.S. acts, countless violations of international law followed: the killing and maiming of over 100,000 Iraqi civilians, the wanton destruction of cities like Fallujah, the use of banned munitions such as napalm and DU, and the torture and mistreatment (both physical and mental) of captured resistance fighters and civilian detainees who were mostly innocent bystanders.
Why do American presidents and senior military leaders so consistently lie? Why do they act so arrogantly in defiance of international law? Why do they assume the superiority of their methods of warfare while repeatedly demonstrating their contempt for the UN Charter, the Nuremberg principles, the U.S. Constitution, and the rule of law itself? And why have so many citizens stood by passively and allowed matters to take this course? Are we all caught in the grip of a mindless nationalism that causes us to lose sight of ourselves, our values, and our world? […]

New Mexico Dems Call for Bush’s Exit
The New Mexico Democratic Party is calling for President Bush’s removal from officeâ a position some party leaders are already distancing themselves from.
The resolution says “the Democratic Party of New Mexico supports the impeachment of George Bush and his lawful removal from office.” It was adopted as a floor amendment to the state party platform at a convention Saturday in Albuquerque.
The state Democratic Party chairman, John Wertheim, said Saturday’s vote at a gathering of more than 1,200 party delegates shows that many Democrats believe the Bush administration is “fraught with abuses of power and violations of the Constitution.”
State Republican chairman Allen Weh on Monday chalked up the vote in part to “mob psychology” at the Democratic Party’s pre-primary convention at Highland High School.
“The mob psychology starts to take place, and moderate people get intimidated into going along,” Weh said. “I submit to you there are lots of patriotic Democratsâ and that this frenzied mob of left-wing radicals doesn’t represent the mainstream Democrats in the heartland.”
Wertheim said he believes at least two other state Democratic parties have adopted similar resolutions.
New Mexico Democratic party executive director Matt Farrauto said he thinks the New Mexico party’s vote is “consistent with the national mood” concerning Bush.
Meanwhile, two prominent New Mexico Democratsâ Sen. Jeff Bingaman, who is seeking re-election this year, and Attorney General Patricia Madrid, who is challenging Republican Rep. Heather Wilson for the 1st Congressional District seatâ steered clear of the state party action.
Madrid, who attended the convention, said through a spokeswoman Monday that she was out of the room when the Bush impeachment vote came up and did not cast a vote herself.
“I believe this is premature,” Madrid said of the Bush resolution. “I hope I get the chance to go to Congress to participate in a full investigation of the underlying issues.”
Bingaman did not attend the pre-primary convention because he was traveling in the Middle East.
Bingaman’s spokeswoman, Jude McCartin, said Monday that Bingaman supports a “9/11-commission-style” inquiry into warrantless domestic wiretapping by the administration. But McCartin said she’s unaware of anyone in Washingtonâ Bingaman includedâ who is talking about a possible impeachment.
Delegates from both state parties met at separate locations in Albuquerque on Saturday to endorse candidates for June 6 primary elections and vote on party platforms.
A platform vote on impeaching Bush was not included in the Democratic Party’s written list of topics for consideration. Wertheim said party delegate Robb Chavez of Bernalillo County called from the floor for the Bush resolution as the convention unfolded Saturday.
Wertheim said the resolution passed with a vote of more than two-thirds of the delegates.
“It was probably 80/20,” Wertheim said of the vote in favor of the resolution. “There was not a single person to speak in opposition.”
Wertheim criticized Bush for the recent revelations of domestic wiretapping done without a warrant by the National Security Agencyâ a program the president authorized.
He faulted Bush for what he called misstatements the president made about the threat posed by Iraq. And he pointed to the recent indictment of Vice President Dick Cheney’s former top aide in a case involving the outing of a CIA agent’s nameâ though neither Bush nor Cheney has been implicated in the case.
Realistically, “impeachment is not going to happen while we have a Republican Congress,” Wertheim said. But he said the resolution shows “there’s widespread sentiment among Democrats that the Bush administration has been fraught with abuse of powerâ and a greater degree of violations than anything the Clinton administration did.”
Weh characterized Wertheim’s criticism of the Bush domestic wiretapping program as “bullcrap” and said the program is a necessity considering the current threats to the country.
“If we had a Democratic president in office, he’d be doing the same doggone thingâ John Wertheim knows it, and I know it,” Weh said.
Randi is on CNN, Lou Dobbs!!
Just caught the last four or five minutes with Randi on Lou Dobbs. I must say, she did quite well from what I saw.
No, no, no. Clinton’s Affair deserved Censure, Bush’s Spying deserves IMPEACHMENT!:spank:
Why military Keynesianism?
Many at the time claimed it was an answer to the problems of real Keynesianism, of using artificial government demand to reopen factories, which was seen as strengthening the trade unions, the working class. Capitalists were afraid of government policies that tended to strengthen the working class. They might prove to be revolutionary. They had been often enough in that century. In this country, we were still shell-shocked over Bolshevism; to a certain extent, we still are.

Bush and his gang are war criminals. Watch what happens when one of those scounddrels set foot in a place like Belgium.
:omg::rofl2: I was unable to put emoticons on my previous post.:omg:
Right, NickiRose.
Pushin’ for 2000, more like!
I think I’ve got maybe 12. My profile doesn’t list a number. Obviously too trivial to count. đ
CK-Congrats to you and Dad on Otis’ recovery! Being home is the best medicine! You did a great job! Also, hope the Z works quickly! I used the chloroseptic throat spray and it helped with the raw throat alot. See if you can take an extra day when youre feeling better just to rest and be with your boys;-)
I missed most of hardball because I was on CNN waiting to see Helen Thomas talk baout Bush finally calling on her. She is so great! She just matter of factly said that it was so obvious to all of them in the press room at the WH that they were angling for war from the very beginning, and that he was lying when he answered her question today….
I love to watch them fall and fall and fall…but at the same time, the damage done is just so great.
I’d like to throw Laura Ingrahambone out a window in Iraq! What is wrong with these people????
LilMiss, have you got the shows that are in existence? Let us know if you need them and we’ll figure something out. Bit torrent is the easiest but you can also easily get em through AOL instant messenger and email in pieces….its well worth hearing them!
I wouldnt join premium if they paid me!
Every once in a while my replay screws up or I forget to leave it on…but really, Id prefer to have to scramble because of that than because Bob needs the weekend off and cant do a 10 minute editing job (have someone do it for him) before he goes….incredible!…Hell, any of us could have done that for him….There is not only a real lack of management there, but also a lack of graciousness.
Every listener is important!!! We are like country music fans…treat us right and we’ll be there forever!…treat us like shit and we’ll band together and kick your ass!
PJ- Now when I try to open files in Wavepad its being picky about filetypes…is that because I didnt buy the masterpad yet? I cant remember if that was one of the special features.
I think Im opening MP3’s but they might be AAC encoded for ipod…does that make sense? I wanted to stop putting the shows directly into itunes so I could edit them first, but now wavepad wont open them at all….Im gonna mess around with it for a while.
Im starting recording early because I (hopefully) can just chop the beginning off….Im so so so happy to get 3.5 hours of Marc!!!!So wish I could stay up, but Im tired and can tell I wont make it.
Have to try to blled my son tomorrow AM too..man try to get a rib x-ray for me…they now think that I might have cracked ribs when I was so sick.Ive never coughed that hard, thats for sure, but…this is crazy!!
Right on. 2000, then I quit.

The Logic Of Withdrawl
Eight simple reasons why we need to GTFO.

PBS Newshour did about 25 minutes tonight on the press conference and analysis of it. I wanted to reach through the screen and slap that goddamn smirk off his sorry face. :spank:
Please please please let the Chimp stay on the road and do to the war what he did to his Social Security plan. :jason:
And please please please let Helen Thomas continue to fight the good fight. SOMEBODY has to call him out on this shit. :crap:
Good piece by Taibbi. But why is Hitchens criticizing “Farenheit 911” at this late date?
(Color me stupid, but why do people on the left dislike Moore personally? Taibbi. Rhodes sort of trashed him in the LOTD commentary. I myself find him rather humorous, witty, and politically savvy.)
:rofl2:
Yeah, an awful lot of people don’t like him. Personally, I think he’s pretty funny. I think a lot of the elitist lefties don’t like him because he’s fat, doesn’t “dress up” much, has no respect (in fact, a great deal of disdain) for the establishment, and they don’t think it’s proper to be “mean” to the Bushies. I think Randi probably didn’t like him because he didn’t realize how important she is, and kind of ignored her. Plus he gets more PR and lots more money than she does. I don’t think she likes that much, either.
Hitchens is an idiot, though I do like his Motoer Theresa work. Hes a drunk and a fool….
I know he thinks he knows something more than the rest of us because of his early work in Iraq and his “friendship”or whatever it is, with the Kurds…but hes sort of lost his cred, as far as Im concerned ,by wasting time on things like F 9-11 or going on and on about how good the Iraq war is regardless of how we got there…
Did I also mention that hes a drunk…and he thinks thats a cool thing about himself. Did anyone see him on the old Dennis Miller show (before dennis went Repug) with his glass of whiskey and rumpled, havent slept for days demeanor….
I think that some of the NYC liberals dont like Moore because hes a bit of a boor…from what Ive heard…and a big presence….but I think that he does really important work. Im less concerned with how smoothly their parties run and how rude the big fat guy is than with the fact that hes making a movie about the helath insurance industry…cant wait for that one. hes just damned good at what he does.
Is anyone else reminded of Letterman hosting the Oscars when Al does his Uma Thurman joke? I keep thinking Oprah-Uma, Uma-Oprah…….
Riveting interview with Kevin Phillips today on Amy Goodman’s Democracy Now. I listened to it on radio, it’s 33 minutes long. You can read the transcript or listen to it or watch it or stream it or download it.

thx ncblue for the 23rd qualm (post #3). :rofl2:
ck, glad to hear otis is making big strides now in his recovery. photo of elwood is  i can’t figure out how he got into that position. is there something under the lampshade he’s interested in? your description of elwood last week reminded me so much of one of my cats, we adopted him and his brother when they were tiny kittens and had them with us for their long lives, our elwood-like cat was totally sweet, let his brother take charge of everything, your description of elwood fit him to a t. glad you’re on the road to recovery now, too.
farmerkat, glad mr is ok, i hate it that he has to go through stuff like that, i hate that you have to go through what you did, what a challenging time we live in.
our county (Humboldt County in California) has just rejected using diebold voting machines for the november ballot. just heard it on the local news. :nixon:
Only perusing the blog tonight; I’m really beat. (I almost said “bushed” but nearly gagged on it.)
Thank you all for the good thoughts.
lindahayte’s Elwood have any brain cells left? provided paroxysms of coughing laughter. I almost had an asthma attack trying to read it to hubby. This is what I’m talking about–a total goofball. We try not to make fun of his intelligence (I’m not paying for years of kitty psychotherapy), but he’s definitely . . . weird, to say the least. The first time he did the lampshade thing I was convinced there was a bug or something under there. But . . . he just likes it under there (and I’m sure the heat does have something to do with it). Even today when we were all hanging out at Camp Otis, he was lying under the lamp I put next to the airbed. He’s a strange one . . .
Okay, so now that you’ve seen that picture, you’ll appreciate this:
After she removed Otis’s e-collar yesterday, the vet suggested we hold on to it. “You know, in case he wants to wear it over his head for a party or something.” I told her we already had one cat like that!
Anyway, I’m sure there’s lots I wanted to respond to, but prudence would dictate that I get to bed. The question is, which bed? My head says upstairs–with the baby monitor on, of course–but in my heart I feel I should be down here.
Oh, and thanks for the reminders to set Marc’s show to record earlier. What would I do without you guys?!?
delighted Otis’ test results were normal, ck. hope you sleep well wherever you end up!
 Clippers Post Game On The Air!!
FIRETRUCK! on clipper talk
sssss…this SkipperTalk is worse than listening to paint dry — this feels like someone painted my back, I can’t scratch it, and it is drying reallly slowwwlllyyy.
Jeeze, and they think WE whine….
I agree with you, Zeb – I love sports, and even I’m bored to tears with the Clippers talk.
Marc just a few minutes away!
I think this post game guy is kinda funny!
What the hell was that?
marc is on!
