Hey, it looks like Iraq is finally starting to tell us to to quit killing their goddamn people. We’ll have to see just how much this “let freedom rein” stuff we’re willing to put up with, but I hope this is the first step towards telling us to get the hell out. Since Bush is obviously content to let us stay there as target practice, while his pals rob the country blind, I don’t see it having much of an affect, but it’s worth a try. In the meantime, I can’t figure out why an LA Daily News TV critic is doing better interviews than all the network news heavyweights combined. Happy Tuesday.
:yawn:1 ok now i go to sleep!
From what I gathered from the demonstrations in LA, Denver, Detroit and NYC this weekend the Senslessbrenner approach of criminalizing illegal immigration would cause massive urban renewal so forget that idea.. building a 50 foot fence would just cause a dramatic increase in demand for 51 foot ladders, tunnels and helicopter services so forget that.. and arresting the employers who knowingly employ these illegals would destroy the rethug base… hummm… now there is an idea..
I just watched Solaris. I’m a little confused, I must say:doh: It looked alright, and that crazy clone guy did pretty good- funny hand mannerism are always good.
Oh, before I crash, here’s my numbers for tomorrow’s NY Lotto

Travis, how do you play the NY lotto?
(If this has been addressed already, my humble appologies.)
:yinyang:
The Catholic church must have a major problem in there stance of supporting the rethugs in that rethugs want abortion criminalized and so does the Pope and now a part of the same group of rethugs want a major portion of there parishioners put in jail.. what to do.. what to do ??.. Hopefully this will point out that the rethugs are for the most part a bunch of dip*
Hey, Kong! It’s my imaginary game. I’m just throwing these numbers out there for kicks. I don’t think you can play the New York Lotto over the web. :peace: Later
Travis: I was about to ask if you could play the lottery over the web
The Church hasn’t had much trouble holding contridictory ideas at thes ame time before.
Contradictory ideas are one thing something impacting there bottom line will probably be something entirely different.

But it was the first time to hear Marc in the ‘LastNight’ bit.
“Cockpit” :rofl2:
Where’s the friggin’ podcast? Would you believe I was so tired last night I FORGOT ABOUT THE SHOW????
I think I need a liberal confessional……:doh::doh::doh:
I have been in on a bunch of discussions lately among some academic types that have come to the conclusion that this balance of payments thing is not sustainable. They all predict a crash similar to 1929 but can’t come to grips with what it will really look like .. The stock market probably won’t crash but unemployment will go from what is now probably 12% to maybe 20% – 30%.. The M$M will report that everything is fine so will everyone assume they are just slouches and hunker down or will they riot and burn things ??
Fish Have Faces. :knit:
Morning!
Ha! I just saw that Kev!
Brilliant, you MUST have been exhausted. The “premium” service puts the podcast up whenever the hell they feel like it. I think they’re messing with our brains. 🙄
is that knitter a cat, or a pilgrim, or an Amish woman or?
Lotto in Japan? guess I just never thought about it.
The knitter looks like some one with a blue bow tied around her ponytail.
Yeah, I think it’s a big bow too.
Mornin’, all.
I like her, though. She looks very busy.
That Robitussin with codeine worked mighty well. I’m feelin’ pretty hammered this morning.:40:
The doctor always tells you to not mix your drugs but the pharma companies do it and put it in a bottle and sell it over the counter… figures some how..
glad you got some rest, finally, ck.
(maybe otis has post-traumatic stress syndrom, poor fellow.)
blue bow tied around her ponytail.
of course! I should have known that living in the south where they put the biggest friggin bows on their girls’ heads. :omg:
I guess I’d rather be loopy and actually have gotten some sleep than loopy because I didn’t!
FK, I think you mean haids.
CK – you could have an over sugared cereal and be fruit loopy. 😯
haids. :rofl2:
the gal who helped me out with my groceries (they insist), asked me if I’d heard about that liel chiel who wa hi by the caw when he-a-wa gett’in his dawwww. She repeated it five times until I got it.
heard about the little child who was hit by the car when he was getting his dog.
i really feel like a foreigner here sometimes.
You might be right about Otis. Hubby wants me to shut down Camp Otis (which I will so we can have our dining room back), but I think Otis kinda liked his little haven.
He’s still not purring, but he did, finally, come upstairs on his own around 4:30. I hadda throw Elwood out pretty soon thereafter–he was a little too frisky around da feet today. A little while later, Otis actually put his front paws up on the bed so I picked him up, and he has been up there since. It’s hard to just “let him be” and not worry that something’s wrong. And, if I had to analyze it, I see that I personally will derive satisfaction from his being overjoyed to be upstairs again. Oy, I’m turning into my parents!
(Actually, my parents didn’t derive satisfaction even when I met their expectations. But that’s another story!)
you’re making me laugh this a.m., ck
You know, I don’t remember Fruit Loops being so bad. But then, it’s probably been about 40 years since I had any! (My brother got sick from them once and, to borrow a phrase, it looked like Walt Disney had thrown up.)
podcast is up! happened when I wasn’t looking, like the pot of boiling water.
FK, you’re too kind!
(I think you’re a little giddy–and deservedly so–because Mr’s on his way home!)
Life was my sugar cereal of choice, KK
That’s deep!
:rofl2:
😆
better get rolling…ciao!
Special K with red berries …

Boo Berry? Count Chochula? Frankenberry? Lucky Charms? Sugar Pops? and more. Ate them all but really liked Cherrios with berries.
Welcome back (soon) Mr. FK!

Good morning Seditionistas :fist: Up and adam! I like the new emoticon although, do you really think she wants to be next to the Wanker? 😕
How to ruin political talk radio.. make it political sports radio
Krista: Has Phoenix gotten its liberal talk back yet..?? What was the format before ?? When this liberal stuff replaces right wing stuff it has been known to cause culture shock on the part of the original listeners.
AAR Phoenix is back on the air on Monday at 1480AM  It sounds like it’s going to be mostly AAR programming with a few local hosts that were on the old station. The signal will be stronger too. I am starting to worry that Marc’s show will be difficult because of the different start times. It will have to be delayed I think.

The Israel Lobby?
by Noam Chomsky ; March 28, 2006
I’ve received many requests to comment on the article by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt (henceforth M-W), published in the London Review of Books, which has been circulating extensively on the internet and has elicited a storm of controversy. A few thoughts on the matter follow.
It was, as noted, published in the London Review of Books, which is far more open to discussion on these issues than US journals — a matter of relevance (to which I’ll return) to the alleged influence of what M-W call “the Lobby.” An article in the Jewish journal Forward quotes M as saying that the article was commissioned by a US journal, but rejected, and that “the pro-Israel lobby is so powerful that he and co-author Stephen Walt would never have been able to place their report in a American-based scientific publication.” But despite the fact that it appeared in England, the M-W article aroused the anticipated hysterical reaction from the usual supporters of state violence here, from the Wall St Journal to Alan Dershowitz, sometimes in ways that would instantly expose the authors to ridicule if they were not lining up (as usual) with power.
M-W deserve credit for taking a position that is sure to elicit tantrums and fanatical lies and denunciations, but it’s worth noting that there is nothing unusual about that. Take any topic that has risen to the level of Holy Writ among “the herd of independent minds” (to borrow Harold Rosenberg’s famous description of intellectuals): for example, anything having to do with the Balkan wars, which played a huge role in the extraordinary campaigns of self-adulation that disfigured intellectual discourse towards the end of the millennium, going well beyond even historical precedents, which are ugly enough. Naturally, it is of extraordinary importance to the herd to protect that self-image, much of it based on deceit and fabrication. Therefore, any attempt even to bring up plain (undisputed, surely relevant) facts is either ignored (M-W can’t be ignored), or sets off most impressive tantrums, slanders, fabrications and deceit, and the other standard reactions. Very easy to demonstrate, and by no means limited to these cases. Those without experience in critical analysis of conventional doctrine can be very seriously misled by the particular case of the Middle East(ME).
But recognizing that M-W took a courageous stand, which merits praise, we still have to ask how convincing their thesis is. Not very, in my opinion…

Hey FK, glad to hear Mr is on his way back home. Just make sure Keith Olbermann is out of the house before Mr. gets in.
So I guess Andy Card is the first sacrifice. From Paul O’Neal’s book, dubya treated him like a scutboy anyway. I wonder if there are more to come, or if they think Card is enough to appease everybody.
Hey, what’s my future husband doing over at FK’s!
I was thinking that Andy and Jack Abernoff probably had a group picture taken that the Washington Post was saving for the proper time.
By the way, if you haven’t watched the KO interview on Q&A with Brian Lamb, you might want to check it out. It’s pretty interesting.
Hot DAMN! Can’t get enough of that Keith Olbermann guy. I really must get the damned cable hooked up so I can watch him on the tee vee.

KRFT 1190 AM St. Louis (new station just launched carrying Al Franken as the only progressive)
I found an email address for someone at the station ( There is no website) and wrote encouraging them to add more AAR programming, especially The Marc Maron Show. Got this reply:

Well, it’s hard not to be cynical about stuff like this, but the Senate Judiciary Committee will be discussing Feingold’s resolution to censure dubya (by the way, Dubya/Dubai, pretty close, huh? A coincidence? I don’t think so) this Friday. FireDogLake.com has an idea to fax committee members, telling them to support censure, and with these words at the top of your fax: “U.S. Constitution: Do Not Shred.”
So, we all know the weasel Republicans are tryign to spin this as a good thing for them, and we also know that the spineless Democrats seem to agree – or are at least just too damn afraid to do it. Never mind whether it’s the right thing to do, of course, but whether it’s the politically expedient thing to do. Personally, I think it’s both. It’s at least a start. If I was running the DLC, I’d be telling them to spin it as, “if we can’t censure the president for this violation of the constitution and his oath of office, we’ll have to proceed with impeachment, so this is the most moderate solution”
Then I’d impeach the fuckers anyway, if they get the House back.
Anyhow, if you have a fax machine, and are so inclined, here are the FAX numbers for the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee:

Just got back from the doctor’s (again) and saw your post. As it happens, I do have a fax machine and now know how I will spend the afternoon (after the vet calls me back).
Found out that this mess in the back of my throat is secondary to the strep and is viral. I’ll be gargling with a concentration of salt water and aspirin for at least the next two days, and if that doesn’t help, they’ll give me some “viscous lidocaine” to gargle with. The only problem is, you can’t eat for a few hours afterward because you CAN’T FEEL YOUR THROAT! (“It doesn’t stop your gag reflex, though,” he said. Well, that’s a consolation.)
Otis is back to purring now, however, so at least one of our throats is doing just fine. :fustrate:
Hey everyone…Im waiting for the torrent because for some reason I messed up the time/day thing…oh well.
Kat- I am SO glad to hear that your Mr is coming home. I know I shouldnt worry but, I do. I would make a very bad war correspondent’s wife, or a soldier’s wife for that matter. (..though I do find a couple of those correspondents very cute!)
I dont mind someone who travels, but its the getting shot at and the bomb thing that gets me. You are very brave!
Ive been all tied up in the trasnferiing of stuff into a backup hard drive, which takes a lot longer than I thought…I guess because its USB thing…and the partitioning took a long time too.
My hard drive has some problem that leads the microsoft machine diagnostic thing to think that it might be physically screwed up….so I want to keep a copy of everyhting in case i have to suddenly replace it!
Will is back to school and Im driving around having depleted my funny!! Im listening to edited down Jeaneane from last week…I wasnt into Janis Ian on Steve Earle at all (I wish he would have his guests do a song here and there, sorta like Nanci Griffin’s Other Voices, Other Rooms.) …though hopefully will refill now with some stuff I have from last night and this AM…Had to go out this morning early for a test on my back and so I made due…and still was working through Bobby and Pap…Boy, I wish Bobby would run for President! I used to think that because he had the heroin problem and was quite a club kid in my day, (even met him once at Studio 54,) that it wasnt possible, but Bush has opened the possibilities for all kinds of abuse and shenanigans, considering that they’re gonna swiftboat one way or another, who cares what the actual past is?
When I went down to the city on Sunday I drove along the river, and was talking to Mom about how much Bobby has really done to help the enviornment.
Its like night and day with that river… If he does nothign else, he can feel happy with the incredible changes hes brought about in this area alone!
anyway….off to scan for the torrent and do some quick editing.
PJ- its so funny to edit Al as opposed to Rachel as opposed to Marc etc….You get used to the patterns of each one, but I find it really funny when I see Rachel’s wave pattern for some reason; I keep thinking of those folks on this blog who dont like her voice and how strange and reedy it looks in the pattern. YOu can hardly tell where the commercials are because it changes so much.
I guess thats editing humor….sorry;-)
😳
(Sorry for whining, earlier.)
Fitzgerald Will Seek New White House Indictments
Yay! Fitzgerald!! I have such a crush on him!
God, I hope Rove goes down!! The only thing better would be if Cheney himself got it too!
Personally, I hope Rove sings like a canary so that Cheney goes down, hard. Cheney disgraced and in prison, and Rove politically emascualted and out of the White House. And if they can throw Hadley in prison, so much the better. That will pave the way to impeach Bush in 2007. They won’t have the votes in the Senate to convict, it should effectively keep the Republicans on the ropes for Bush’s last two years.
And then we can elect President Lieberman. :omg:
ArrrrGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!
Dont even joke about that!!:jason:

Liberal Hypocrisy on Immigration
Krugman and Clinton: Shut the Door
By SHARON SMITH
Economist Paul Krugman is “proud of America’s immigrant history, and grateful that the door was open when my grandparents fled Russia.”
Now, however, he argues that the U.S. should close its door on the poor huddled masses, warning, “We need to do something about immigration, and soon,” in a New York Times op-ed on March 27-the same day the Senate opened debate on immigration reform.
Krugman cites “serious, nonpartisan research” revealing “some uncomfortable facts about the economics of modern immigration, and immigration from Mexico in particular.”
In reality, the foreign-born population today remains under its historic high point of 15 percent a century ago, when Krugman’s grandparents presumably emigrated to the U.S. . .
http://www.counterpunch.org/sharon03282006.html
And then we can elect President Lieberman.

Abu Nuwas, the first and foremost Islamic gay poet
Abu Nuwas, “Father of Curls,” so named for his long flowing hair that hung down to his shoulders, was the greatest Arab poet of his time, or as some claim, the greatest Arab poet of all time. His full name was Abu Nuwas al-Hasan ibn Hani al-Hakami. Abu Nuwas’s mother, Golban (Rose) by name, was a Persian weaver, and his father, whom he never knew, a soldier from Damascus. The mother sold the young Abu Nuwas (b. 756) to Sa’ad al-Yashira, a Yemeni druggist, who took him from Ahvaz, the town of his birth (presently in south-western Iran) to his home in Basrah (presently in south-eastern Iraq), in those days a great seaport, and abode of the mythical Sinbad the Sailor.

You gotta be kidding me, Rummy.
The War on Serbia was a sham, too.
Without recognising their earlier role in propagandising for war against Serbia, and without drawing attention to the implications for US-UK criminality, the media has completely re-written its own history on Milosevic. A media database search by Media Lens has failed to turn up a single example of any British journalist describing Kosovo as ‘genocide’ since Milosevic’s death.
The Sunday Express provides a typical example of the kind of language used:
“He [Milosevic] was facing 66 counts of genocide and crimes against humanity for his central role in the wars in Bosnia, Croatia and Kosovo during the 1990s, in which 200,000 people died. The worst incident was the massacre at Srebrenica in 1995, when an estimated 8,000 Bosnian men were murdered.” (Tominey, ‘Milosevic cheats justice by dying in his jail cell,’ Sunday Express, March 12, 2006)
I wish Rhodes would demonize the whole of these corporatist rethugs ( and demodorps) as apposed to just GW. The dummies will assume that if all we do is impeach Bush things will turn around.. There are quite literally thousands of these people out there. They all need to be rounded up and properly disposed of.
Scalia had been asked by five retired generals to withdraw from participating in the case because of remarks he made in a recent speech in Switzerland about “enemy combatants.” Scalia said foreigners waging war against the United States have no rights under the Constitution.
Did that bastard recuse his CORPORATIST ass?
:fu:Scalia!
Round up the Plantation Owners? You are talking Revolution, boy!:omg:
Round them up and send them to Mars.

What did the people do to Mussolini?:omg:
Hey AAR! Just what does Olmert want to do in the Occupied Territories?
He definitely will not follow international law. And the US has his back.
Gotta Go!:nixon:
I think that Mussolini ended up hanging from a lamp post.. How he got there is not well documented. Some say that he wanted Italy to surrender as the allied forces advanced and the Germans had other plans. Some say he was caught by some regular Italians and they expressed their displeasure.
On April 27, 1945, in the afternoon, near the village of Dongo (Lake of Como), just before the Allied armies reached Milan, as they headed for Chiavenna to board a plane to escape to Switzerland, Mussolini and his mistress Claretta Petacci were caught by Italian communist partisans.
The day after, April 28, they were both destroyed in spectacular fashion, along with their sixteen-man train, mostly ministers and officials of the Italian Social Republic. The destruction took place in the village of Giulino di Mezzegra, and was conducted by “Colonnello Valerio” (Walter Audisio), the partisan commander entrusted by the CLN (National Liberation Committee) with the execution of the death sentence issued against Mussolini. [citation needed]
The next day the bodies of Mussolini and his mistress were hung upside down in Piazzale Loreto (Milan), along with those of other fascists, to show the population that the dictator had been destroyed. This was both to discourage any fascists to continue the fight and an act of revenge for the hanging of many partisans in the same place by Axis authorities. The corpse of the disposed leader became subject to ridicule and abuse by many who felt oppressed by the former dictator’s policies.
In the first quarter of 2006, MSNBC’s Countdown with Keith Olbermann beat CNN’s Paula Zahn Now in the 25-54 demographic. “This marks MSNBC’s first quarterly primetime victory over CNN in the demo in almost five years (2Q01 MSNBC Investigates beat CNN at 8 p.m. ET),” MSNBC’s press release said today.
Countdown averaged 164,000 total viewers in the quarter, up 41% from Q1 2005. Zahn averaged 158,000 demo viewers (down 33 percent), according to MSNBC. Bill O’Reilly averaged 450,000 in the demo (down 24 percent).
Olbermann also beat Headline News star Nancy Grace in the demo. According to program ranker data, Grace averaged 154,000 demo viewers…
I wonder if KO stays up late enough to be a guest on Marc’s show?
Trials and appropriate penalties. I oppose governmental imposition of Death Penalty.

I checked some photos of the Mussolini execution. Ghastly!

DILLINGHAM, Alaska — From Anchorage it takes 90 minutes on a propeller plane to reach this fishing village on the state’s southwestern edge, a place where some people still make raincoats out of walrus intestine.
This is the Alaskan bush at its most remote. Here, tundra meets sea, and sea turns to ice for half the year. Scattered, almost hidden, in the terrain are some of the most isolated communities on American soil. People choose to live in outposts like Dillingham (pop. 2,400) for that reason: to be left alone.
…
By mid-February, more than 60 cameras watched over the town, and the Dillingham Police Department plans to install 20 more — all purchased through a $202,000 Homeland Security grant meant primarily to defend against a terrorist attack.
…
Roberts, mayor of Dillingham from 1972 to 1978, says the cameras constitute an invasion of privacy, and beyond that, they’re just plain creepy……….He looks out at Nushagak Bay, which remains frozen until the end of April. No boat can enter or leave the harbor until the ice breaks up. He shakes his head. “This is Dillingham, Alaska, folks,” he says. “I don’t think we have to worry about Osama bin Laden.”

isi, good for you on the letter! I’m going to get letters ready to fax fri. a.m. before the appointment.
Why do so many people listen to that schmuck O’Reilly? 25-54!:omg:
omg! I’m watching last night’s Daily show and Daily’s interviewing Michael Gordan author of Cobra II and asks what did the administration do right… couldn’t answer and said he wasn’t prepared for that one. so funny and so sad.
Bill O’Reilly averaged 450,000 in the demo (down 24 percent).
The rethug have the reputation of being the party of the angry old white men. Limpprick and Slant head both still have ten times the audience of Franken/ Schultz. It it wasn’t for the corporate influence and their war like qualities I would just wait until they all died off. Unfortunately there are some skill full thugs out there ( big peices) being preened to rise to the surface to take the older ones places. I find it impossible under the current climate existing in our political system to expect anything except chaos as long as these people are allowed to govern.
O’Reilly still averaged 3x Olbermann. O’Reeeilly was a TV anchor in Portland in the 1980s.
:omg:
yes you guys, but trends are important. I mean, we started taking on the talking the heads only recently, in the grand scheme of things. As i watch the rethugs in my state regulate every behavior known to man and watch them fail miserably at the economy, war education, health care, retirement and have to find something optomistic or i’d croak here and now.
FK, is friday your last appt before the Big Day? :peace:

Pardon my stupidity, FK, but I can’t often catch up with the Blog. What procedure are you going through?

Does anyone know here if tonights show will be a long show or will it start at the usual time? Wondered. Thanks to anyone with the answer!
Wow, FK. I will be sending healing vibes during your surgury. I hope I do it right!
I sent KRFT an email too. Maybe we should focus our attention on one station at a time and harangue them until they put Marc’s Show on the air.

So, a friend just told me that Charles Goyette and Bob Christie(previous KXXT manager) along with Ed Schultz are getting another station going in the Phoenix area. It sounds like maybe a Jones Radio Network thing?? I dunno, but it sounds like AAR Phoenix will have competition. So we’ll have 2 progressive talk stations?
omg! I’m watching last night’s Daily show and Daily’s interviewing Michael Gordan author of Cobra II and asks what did the administration do right… couldn’t answer and said he wasn’t prepared for that one. so funny and so sad.

We’ll all be cheering for you and your team, FK. Including those of who have “played” that theatre ourselves. It really stinks that we don’t get to attend the wrap party, but in the following weeks you will really appreciate the difference. I did and it was worth the short term costs.
