Yet another short show tonight, though it shouldn’t be quite as short as last night. Game time is 7:00, so I’d plan on about a half-hour delay, give or take. It’s goo dto know they’ll be doing a full two-hour show starting next week, though I hope we hear a few more details tonight – or at least by the end of the week. It would be nice if AAR would stream the show from their site so we can all listen to it. I have a feeling that the Marc Maron Show is detined to become the most popular show AAR’s got, and it’ll be interesting to see if Marc and Jim can parlay that into something nationwide (on real stations). I’d love to see it syndicated in NYC, and kick the shit out of the Satellite Sisters.
Anhow, if you wanna call the show, it’s:
1 (877) 520-1150 or
1 (800) 783-7412
Hey, if they tape the show, we can all start calling in during Stephanie Miller, and ask what time Marc gets in.
woo!! first!!!

If you’re a premium subscriber who’s still waiting for last night’s show: I think you’ve waited long enough, don’t you?

Goldberg On The Rise At Air America
April 05, 2006
By Ken Tucker
Air America Radio CEO Danny Goldberg, who joined the company just over a year ago, rises to the newly-created position of vice-chairman of the liberal talk network.
“The appointment of Danny Goldberg to this new role reflects Air America’s desire to strengthen its outreach efforts to the progressive community and several key strategic alliances,” chairman of the board of Piquant, Ltd. Rob Glaser said in a prepared statement. Piquant is the holding company that owns Air America Radio. “These are areas where Danny brings unique skills and experience.”
“My commitment to Air America and enthusiasm for its mission is very strong,” Goldberg said. “I have been, and will continue to be, primarily interested in the development of content and in its marketing, that is where my passions ran in the music business and where they run in other media including Air America. This new position allows me to focus on the areas of most interest while allowing someone else to grow the business and build on our already established success.”
Danny Goldburg is a fraud

Subject: riot grrrl vs child porn
Body: here’s one of my weird observations. so according to the latest statistics child porn, especially involving early teens and webcams, is a twenty billion dollar a year business.
meanwhile the all ages scene, instead of being supported by record companies and the music industry, is almost completely gone. back in the riot grrrl glory days every town had at least one great all ages clubs where local beginners could mature and out of state indie bands would tour through.
in Los Angeles there were several great ones including Impala, Koo’s, and Jabberjaw. Jabberjaw helped nurture bands like Nirvana, Rage Against the Machine, Hole and many more including my own. Without Jabberjaw, Koo’s and Impala there would have been no Lucid Nation.
Those clubs are gone now. There aren’t many young bands around anyway and most of the ones that are, they pay to play happily as they pursue their lame fantasies of becoming famous by getting a video on Fuse. There aren’t many cool indie bands anymore either, certainly not enough to fill clubs every night like there used to be in the Nineties.
but there is a twenty billion dollar child porn business. A kid making 35 bucks per webcast with 1500 “fans” can pull in a million dollars in a month or two. meanwhile kids who make music are lucky to make a hundred bucks to split up in a month of gigs.
what is my point? i’m not sure. i think i’m just struck by how disgusting our supposedly civilized global society is. how kid hating it is. as long as these lawyers, doctors and business executive perverts have their dicks in their hands and a naked kid to drool on they turn over money like ready tellers.
but ask them to contribute to healthy creative self expression and a place for kids to go hang out and feel safe and they give you instead laws about how many parking places you need for each patron and other technicalities fire marshalls and police use to close down scenes.
i didn’t get many advantages from the golden age of riot grrrl. our music was never released by K or Kill Rock Stars so we were never more than marginal to the cool fans. look at almost any riot grrrl group on MySpace even today and see if Lucid Nation is listed among the bands they praise. true, we haven’t been riot grrrl for awhile, but seven CDs worth of work involving some pretty famous female musicians, well you’d think we’d get a nod.
but then you’d think Patti Smith fans would know i exist too! when told by people they respect (even Lenny Kaye) that my work is well worth checking out they seldom do because most of the music audience out there is still brainwashed and believes if it isn’t corporate it must suck and usually they are right. but the days of having good bands handed to you on corporate silver platters are over.
nevertheless i feel very grateful that i got to ride the coat tails of the famous bands and labels who created and sustained a vital all ages scene filled with inspiration and opportunies. i really feel for kids in bands today, for young musicians who want to express themselves for all the right reasons.
i hope you will never give up. i hope instead of allowing this sick society of ours to demoralize and silence you, that you will realize you are needed now more than ever. let the internet be your all ages club. express yourselves fearlessly! to me each and everyone one of you is a hero and a heroine.
