Time for another round of the talking heads. On Press the Meat, Timmy Potatohead has an “exclusive” with John Kerry (fresh off doing some Republican ass kicking – better late than never, I guess, and I hope he keeps it up), and then it’s more immigration posturing with House members Henry “Magilla” Bonilla of TX, Luis Gutierrez of IL, and token white guy J. D. Hayworth of AZ.
Over at Fazed the Nation, they’re apparently back to their stealth strategy, since they don’t seem to want us to know who’s on. Oh well, who cares, as long as Katie Couric isn’t there yet.
This Weak, George Snufalufagus pulls a Boehner, before accidentally having somebody interesting on – former Ambassador Joe Wilson. I wonder what he’ll have to say about dubya OK’ing the NIE leak. Then it’s the roundtable, with Fareed”Token” Zakaria, the WaPost’s E.J. Dionne, Cokie “Bitch” Roberts, and George :jerk: Will.
Over at Fux News Sunday, it’s Republican Vs. Republican, as Chris “Fuxface” Wallace has Arlen Specter and Pete King on to talk about that impressive compromise on immigration – not – and then dubya’s #1 Muslim, Zalmay Khalilzad will be on to tell us how great everything’s going in Iraq.
On CNN, well, they won a Peabody for their Katrina coverage, doncha know. Good for them. I’d say they ought to show it to Bill O’Reilly, but he might think they want him to be their pee buddy or something. The only thing Bill likes better than a good Polk is a pee buddy.
Later, on 60 minutes, Scott Pelley talks to Chief Warrant Officer Lewis Welshofer, who says putting a sleeping bag over the head of an Iraqi general (oops, he died) was an interrogation technique approved of by his superiors. But, like, they don’t tend to say much after you’ve suffocated them, do they? Then Bob Simon tells us about an elephant orphanage in Kenya (for baby elephants whose mothers have been killed by poachers), and Steve Kroft does a story on 16-yr old Michelle Wie (hey Steve, keep her away from Homeland Security, OK?). Of course, Andy Rooney will be on hand to extoll the virtues of Benefiber and bitch about something or other.
On the West Wing, goddamn it, Leo died on election day. Should be an intersting show, and a good warm up for the Sopranos. Johnny Sack and his boy Phil seem to think Tony’s gone soft. Something tells me they shouldn’t oughta think that.
Enjoy your Sunday.
KGO has this guy Rothmann on in the early morning.. He brings the SF area the news and views from Israel in the middle of the night every night. The first time I heard him I thought KGO maybe had a let both sides talk format because he talks more like a Reich winger than a liberal. This morning he is on the war with IRAN news item and its like he has never listened to any other left sided radio or read Democratic Underground. IRAN is not another IRAQ. It will be interesting what if anything Putin and the Chinese premiere will have to say about a nuclear attack on IRAN on Monday.
On the subject of the NSA eavesdropping and the Bolsheviks smearing people who appose their views.
I still think the NSA thing is a Phycopps thing to make people paranoid so they don’t use the Internet and/or are concerned about talking to their friends about organizing to maybe take action against their own government.
We have had several people from our local peace group that got put on the no fly list because they protested at some local event Bush attended.
The Reich wing’s media is as much to blame for the smear campaigns as Scottie the dweeb is. Most of the people on the left have stopped listening to them so all they do is pump up an ever decreasing group on the right.
This Rothmann guy is a total dweeb… He is obviously a supporter of the Israeli occupation of a foreign nation ie Palestine and their treatment of the Palestinians. It’s people like him that pretend to be liberals that are makeing the world less safe .. I think i will send KGO a nasty gram..
The nasty Gram
I often listen to KGO over the internet since they have live programming on in the early morning hours but Mr. Rothmann makes it hard to believe that this is a liberal talk station. His support of the Israeli position concerning their Palestinian occupation and suppression of Palestinian views and his attitude toward the Islamic nations defending them selves and their fellow Muslims from genocide at the hands of the Israeli’s and the Imperialist US government makes him less than desirable to listen to. It would be a good idea if he was on the other side in the Israeli / Palestinian dispute if you desire to be viewed as a liberal media outlet by this listener.

When you look at the Iranian nuclear program you have to ask the question who is helping them.. The answer is Russia and China. When you look at who buys Iran’s oil the answer is China, Pakistan and India, Do you really think that China and Russia will let the US attack IRAN ?? These fools still seem to think that the US is a super power or something..The US is more like an old under-maintained steam locomotive which has so many leaks in its boiler tubes that you have to operate it with the safety valves shut off. Eventually you will blow your self up. We have become a third rate banana republic.
Whewww.. almost time for C-span.. time to listen to a bunch of nut cases instead of just one.
Banana Cream pie, mmmmm.
Morning/Evening
:yinyang:
Yummy.. can you email me a peace ??
Morning here..
The pie doesn’t all fit in the CD drive, I’ll try scaning it next.
3D email should be the thing of future.. I can think of some Reich wingers I would like to send some special packages to.
Bush says the leader of IRAN is the new Hitler.. I guess he doesn’t like competition ??
Of course he hates the competition! :rofl2:
Bush “a sustained bombing campaign in IRAN will humiliate the Iranian leaders” It will also cause a need for a navy rebuilding program.. Maybe even a major metropolitan area rebuilding program after Putin and the Chinese respond.
Our media seems to think this thought of attacking IRAN is something new. The German and English media has been reporting it for three months now.
That hasn’t been talked about in the US?
There were articles in the Moscow Times and the Guardian about a potential attack on IRAN in January. The only place there was much discussion was in the Blogisphere in places like Democratic Underground and Daily Kos.
:yawn:The whole nuclear bunker-buster attack plan for Iran was probably leaked by Georgie Boy and his ilk to distract and frighten us. (Hey, man, sleepy-time delusions can happened in the morning too!)
On a side note: I just had a wicked dream. I think sense I called the religious nuts religious nuts that ah, they had to send their magical whatnot’s my way and mess with my li’ brain. Scary thought…
If Bush wants to get his administration overthrown by a ground swell of public opinion that might support a Coup or a bunch of citizens in the streets with assault rifles then this is a great distraction. The other problems can probably be sort of maybe solved by the Nov election but a nuclear war between then and now might get people ticked off especially if they see Chinese and/or Russian mushroom clouds in their backyards as a result.
Look, man, didn’t we use a bomb in Iraq (or Afghan.)that is
just as powerfulcomparable to the nuclear bunker-buster? It was called MOAB or something. So, yeah, this whole issue about nuclear is just kinda, I don’t know. It’s funny how we have to use nuclear weapons to stop nuclear weapons, and kill people to stop the (potential) killing of people and on and on…Anyway, I have to go back the hay, man.
Hey Travis!
Kong:banana:, man, what’s goin’ on? How was the picnic?
I think the MOAB was used in the Tora Bora offensive in Afghanistan or maybe early on in the war between the Afghanistan freedom fighters and the Taliban. The Iranian nuclear facilities are underground so you need a bigger bang to do anything to them.. The Iranians have them located near population centers too. When you set a nuke off below ground it will probably cause a lot of radioactive debris to be blown into the air and India and Pakistan are down wind and they would probably resent living underground for the next century or so.
Um, I’m going to go back and edit to make it match yours:doh:
I think using nukes – even tactical nukes that (assuming all goes well) are designed to detonate underground instead of above ground – will help turn the tide of international public opinion back in our favor. Sure, most of the world hates us now, but when they see us use nukes, damn, how could they help but love us again?
After an hour dive into the countryside and a short hike up a hill, we unpacked a delicious lunch. Unfortunately, I forgot to pack glasses. We had to BOTH drink out of the same bottle. So, you could say we got to swap spit pretty quickly.
Well its time to report to the salt mine.. blog with you all after lunch.
see ya’ fred!
Later, Fred! Oh, and I’m covering up a double post, too:doh:
I’m sleepin’ it! Too much computer stuff at once can hurt the brain:doh:
:sammy:Well, hell’s bells, Hitler’s over there and damn the man if we don’t do somethin’ ’bout it. I want to hear a Kablooey, damnit. Now! Or, after my nap, whichever
Travis, don’t you have a volcano ready to go Kablooey?
Jason might like this article in this morning’s New York Times.

Sean has his alter ego Jeffy, and I’ve got mine:sammy: Just don’t know his name yet.
Yeah, um, sure man, there’s plenty of Kablooey to go ’round:bong:
Wasn’t there an Alaskan mountain smoking? You posted a site to see pictures.
😕
Sorry, man, just trying to lighten the monrnin’. It’s Mnt. Augustine. Check it.
:banana:morning everybody mmmmmmm more panera!:joe:
Mornin’, guys.
It looks beautiful here in NYC today–from the window, you’d never know the temperature is half of what it was last Sunday (73).
Crazy-ass shit, man!
Which set of workers had employable skills? The answer to illegal workers is one I don’t have. Employers don’t want to teach labor how to work (it costs $ to train and they are money grubbing bastards). To be employed you need to be employable. (Once employable, you should be offered a living wage.)
I’ll shut up.
Panera . . . yummmmm.
You’re givin’ me ideas for lunch, Seanie!
Too early for me to wrap my brain around the issues!
Damn, the :joe: better kick in soon!
Hi CK! This evening, as I finish the laundry, I’ve been listening to some great oldstuff at thesnotgreensea. Damn there were some really great bits. What’re you up to today?
I’m about to do some research into this, but thought I’d put it out, too:
Does anyone know of a site that reliably records air-quality levels? I’m trying to figure out if something I experience from time to time (a “smoky”–as in cigarette smoke–smell that infiltrates my nostrils and causes me to react as if someone is exhaling a cigarette into my face) is at all tied to pollution.
I’ve already been checked out by a neurologist (x-rays of my brain revealed nothing, hahahaha) and he thought it could be a precursor to a migraine. Which it sometimes is. But other times it’s a precursor to an asthma attack. (Yesterday I had the privilege of suffering both.)
Anyway, hubby thinks it’s pollution-related. I’m gonna go look it up!
Smelling smoke usually means my neighbour is in the hall. He is an ashtray.
Triggering other conditions, though, is past me.
feel well
Hey, KK.
(I posted that before seeing your note.)
Hopefully today we’ll get out in the sun a bit and hopefully it will warm up some, too.
Yeah, when you live in a house (even an attached house), the neighbors would have to be smoking A LOT for you to smell it constantly.
Really, I’m like the princess and the pea. I think I need to see a smellologist!:rofl2:
Well, I did find something. Though it doesn’t show a daily tally (that I can find), it did confirm what hubby suspected: that I don’t experience the “smoky smell” when we’re in our beloved Albany. (It’s about 1/20th as bad as Queens, per the site.)
The local brand of smokes is Long Life. No kidding.
:40:mmmmmm soda!
:rofl2:longlife ciggarettes!
Kong: Who came up with that one–Karl Rove?!?
They also come in ‘mild’. Can I send you some?
Thank you, but no. Apparently I don’t need cigarettes to experience the effects of smoking!
Sean–how’s Panera this morning? I’ve never had breakfast there!
i just posted the jeffy and george speech on my blog got 17 views within the last 5 minutes ha my blog kicks ass yep yep and you guys always get the sneak preview! well thats what i am calling it anyway yep yep because in reality i just find stuff that i write on here that i think is worthy of becoming a new blog entry anyway yep yep
they really dont have breakfast i was hoping for some kind of egg sandwich and nothing! just normal pastries and stuff and no soup yet either actually fairly disappointing
I don’t suppose any “premium” members out there have heard from AAR that the full Marc show will be available for podcast – and when it’ll be available. I just wonder if it might not be available earlier in the evening, since it’ll be pre-recorded now. Getting it early enough to listen to the same day would be kinda nice.
It’d be nice if they’d communicate that sorta thing, not to mention where the show might get syndicated to.
Three late Clippers games next week (MWF), so I need to knwo where to get my fix. It’s one thing to get a short show if everybody gets a short show, but I hate to feel like I’m missign out on something.
lol click on my name and go to my blog so you can listen to the mike malloy audio that i have on my blog the beginning is so great mike in a super whiny voice says its so terrible they compare bush to hitler
For a yummy breakfast, this place has a great English breakfast all day on Sunday. :peace:
Ck- we have so much in common! I have felt bonkers about it but have been finding out that friends my age are also experiencing this. If you have been checked out a neurologist and are OK don’t worry.
I actually changed hotel rooms a few nights ago because of it. I think it may be hormonal changes and could be an air inversion. Or part of a sinus infection or another friend notices it when she drinks alot of coffee.
Or it could be air pollution. But it doesn’t really go away when it rains. Or this guy is hounddogging you?:bong:
Or you live downwind from :sammy:’s volcano.
Panera? I saw one yesterday and didn’t stop. I’m in Burlington VT in case anyone’s looking for me:paranoid:
oh wow burlington is my favorite place!
my two best breakfasts ever were in burlington!
PJ’s Sunday punch bought me back to the computer. You didn’t disappoint me, pj!
Home from the hospital post Borg sugery. Decided that is how I felt. Man, they stitch all kinds of tubes and drains in you leaving holes all over your body. Weird weird surgery. I can comment on such a thing, however, because the actual repair went swimmingly!! Yay for repair! I now have an implant on the valve and will hope the corporation that manufactures it is reputable. Do you think they outsource its manufacture? – maybe I’m stamped with “made in China” or some such thing in there. hmmm.
The arrangement you all sent is magnificient! There are so many different plants in there it is fun to stare at it and start naming them. The hydrangeas are gorgeous and I’ll plant it outside as soon as the bloom is gone. Those grow well down here. That’s just one example!
It was hilarious when I left the hospital – they roll you out in this plastic chariot thing that has a huge tray behind you to hold your stuff. The aid pushes the chariot from behind. Gladys, the nurse’s aid, who upon taking my vitals everyday announced that I was indeed alive, pushed my chariot. Gladys is very petite and couldn’t see OVER the enormous Seditionists’ basket. We had a deuce of a time getting down to Mike and the car and we laughed the entire way (with me holding my chest in pain from laughing). We saw this one long hallway that went down at a steep decline and I yelled, “Glayds, don’t steer me left or you’ll lose me for sure!” The people in the hospital were completely overwhelmed seeing us traverse the corridors. Very fun! Thank you again, guys. It means so much to me.
Also when I was in the hospital having a shitty night (it’s difficult to sleep at night as you hear your damn heart like you’ve never heard it before) so I turned on my ipod to listen to marc. He gave a shout-out to me and mike and I can not tell you how good that made me feel. Oh, I got such a big smile on my face there in that dark lonely bed. (PJ, I assumed it was you who might have emailed marc.)
I’ve discovered the only “bed” I can lie in somewhat comfortably is a 12 dollar banana sun lounger ladened with pillows. My family laughs at me and my dogs are very confused (I’m at easy lick level), but man, I can actually fall asleep in it.
****
so the end times are near for the bush crime family it looks like! Yippee! Not sure how much I can post, but I’m baaaacckkkk!
Love you guys!
penny cluse cafe is the name of the one place i think? and the other place is like right on main st near the theater yep like across the street i cant remember the name its like a pretty big coffeehouse place do you know what im talking about? i cant remember the name for the life of me! it is driving me nuts! yep yep oh burlington is so cool they have an awesome used bookstore there and two pretty good record shops! yes i :love:burlington! i tell people to go there all the time! i tell my grandparents to take vacation there ha yep I LOVE BURLINGTON!
:paranoid:I now have an implant on the valve and will hope the corporation that manufactures it is reputable. Do you think they outsource its manufacturer? – maybe I’m stamped with “made in China” or some such thing in there. hmmm.
oh, ck, i believe the epa, state and fed, are supposed to have monitors set up to pick up air quality. I believe on their web sites you can find one near you. Of course whether this will help you, depends on where they’ve put the doggon things. ( i see you’ve found something) Hope your head feels better!
Farmerkat!:banana::fist::love:
Hey, I have a prosthetic in my ear. Now I’m thinkin’ it says made in China on it:roll:
if we have another bush administration we are all gonna have to walk around with oxygen tanks strapped to our backs! probably part of the plan. they figure they can make money off of selling oxygen just like they do from water!
FK- welcome back and great to hear from you.
holy shit this keeps going on we are gonna have a bunch of chinese seditionists!
oh yeah go now thank harry taylor!
Hey, FK, welcome home! I was just wondering whether you were back or not. My mom had open heart (bypass, though, not a valve job) back about 15 years ago or so, so I have a pretty good idea of what they did to you (enough to know that I’d just as soon not have the pleasure of experiencing it firsthand). It’s amazing how routine all of that stuff has become. Now that you’re home again, I’m sure you’ll be out and running marathons in no time.
The expression on the face of that woman next to Harry is priceless.
yeah it is! shoot she has the little kid ooooh you did something bad face!
pj, I keep forgetting to tell you – I worship mrs pj and all in her profession. Good nurses should be paid handsomely. Can’t get better and out of a hospital without those gods and godesses.
and yes, it is amazing that it is routine surgery. I am working on my walking and breathing everyday in preparation for that marathon!
:rofl2:
off to the lounger! (it’s pink!)
Wow FarmerKat- such great news you are home in the lick zone!
Your iPod tale made me cry:-(
I am off to the roundbarn at Shelburne to see the hooked rug show and then to the east again. Up on a hill with no internet tonight.
West Wing:
I have a theory that Alan Alda will be the VP to Jimmie Smits as P.
Do Ya think? I might have to wait till wednesday to find out.
Thanks Seanie Sean- You would love it here today. I will remember that breakfast place. I wish I had more time here.:knit:
Farmerkat, I’m sensing a theme here 😀
:gate: Very happy to hear you are home and on the road to recovery.
Yeah, she’s out of one hospital and into another one now, in the “Continuum of Care” (talk about Borg). She’s at the hospital where I worked for ten years, and where my sister has worked for, gee, it’s gotten be close thirty years by now. State job, so now I get to get a new pair of glasses (first new pair since I left the hospital, seven years ago)! Plus we have healthcare coverage again, so I’ll have to go out and get sick – or maybe cut a finger off or something (anybody see the Boston Legal with the priest and the axe?).
Bye. enjoy palm sunday. have a reading.
:joe:
Hey, I like that theory. That would make pretty good sense, too. Too bad they had to go and cancel the show – I thought this was a good season. I often hear people say it isn’t as good as it used to be (lots of people bithched about Six Feet Under, which I thought was great, and they’ve grumbled about the Sopranos from time to time, too), and that might be the case, but it’s still better than 90% of what’s out there – especially on network TV.
Palmier Sunday-yum!
Palm Sunday? Is that what this is? Damn, I’m such a lapsed Catholic. We even got married by a fallen priest (quit the priest union to marry a fallen nun).
So, that must mean Easter is, like, next week?
nothing pisses me off more than the cancellation of arrested development! and when the hell is the last season coming out on dvd?
Bing! we have a winner! pj
PJ- we like the same Teeveee
OK- gotta check out- will report from some apple store near Cambridge. Wish I could wear headphones while driving- forgot to pick up an itrip for the pod- Vermont public radio isn’t bad though.
Agreed. Another show too damn smart for the masses.
I  VERMONT!
really time to go. bye
Well, I need to go to “the mall” and get a USB headset to do my VoIP project. I did manage to scrounge enough parts to build a computer, though. Not exactly a barnburner with a PII 450 and only 160 megs of RAM (I must have some more of that around here someplace), but it seems to run SUSE 10 pretty well.
More Kristof in todays NYTimes
the carousel mall?
hey we are way over the amount of posts from last sunday already!
Where is the freakin’ OUTRAGE :rant1:
:joe::jason:
What kind of a signal is this? Here is Obama, endlessly hailed as the brightest rising star in the Democratic firmament, delivering (at a closely watched political dinner, with Lieberman’s primary opponent, Ned Lamont, sitting in the crowd) a ringing endorsement to his “mentor”, Lieberman, Bush’s closest Democratic ally on the war in Iraq, and overall pretty much a symbol of everything that’s been wrong with the Democratic Party for the past twenty years. What a slimy fellow Obama is, as befits a man symbolizing everything that will continue to be wrong with the Democratic Party for the next twenty years. Every time I look up he’s doing something disgusting, like distancing himself from his fellow senator Dick Durbin for denouncing the torture center at Guantanamo, or cheerleading the nuke-Iran crowd.
Obama has cast his lot with Clinton’s DLC cabal.
What’s Driving the Iranian Nuclear Crisis?
By MICHELE BRAND
Paris.
“It is difficult for me to understand not only why the Bush administration is pursuing its aggressive policy against Iran, especially at a time when its position in Iraq is crumbling toward utter failure, [] but surely even more puzzling is why has the European Union shown itself so willing to carry Bush administration water in what is by any measure a very dubious cause?
–David MacMichael, “An Unnecessary Crisis: The Iranian Nuclear Showdown”, Counterpunch, March 22, 2006.
An unprovoked war may be in preparation against the Iranian people, and beyond any opinions that we may have toward the Iranian regime, the anti-war and anti-imperialist movements of the west need to respond to this threat of aggression. The very possibility of the reproduction or spreading of the catastrophe in Iraq (beyond, also, any opinions we may have about its timing or whether the threat on Iran is all bluff) should encourage and renew our solidarity with the peoples of the middle east who are under attack by western pressures and invasions under the cynical pretext of the “democratic” restructuring of the region. It seems increasingly clear that in order to do so we need a better understanding of these pressures, for nothing is more discouraging than to believe that the US and other imperialists form a solid and all-powerful bloc. But in any case we shouldn’t lose sight of the fact that, even if the weakness and lack of strategy of the west is ever more apparent, the threat of attack is real.
It is impossible to know what exactly has been happening behind the closed doors of the many negotiating rooms throughout the Iran nuclear crisis. But though there will be things we can’t unravel, there are indeed some elements of the situation that can be read. . .

Show Trial!
http://www.counterpunch.org/cassel04072006.html
Here is what the evidence does show that Moussaoui did, and knew: He was a supporter of al Qaeda. He traveled to the United States in an attempt to learn to fly an airplane, so that he might be a part of some scheme (the details of which he was not sure) to take place after a major attack (the date of which he did not know).
In videotaped testimony, other al Qaeda members said Moussaoui was so bumbling and incompetent, bin Laden would have never trusted him with anything. Similarly, Moussaoui was brought to the attention of the FBI because his flight school instructor was alarmed at how poorly he was doing–and in particular, because he openly said that he wanted to learn to fly large jets but had no interest in obtaining a pilot’s license.
PitBull Justice:
That would be the just outcome. But justice has played little part in this phase of the trial of the terrorist who hopes to achieve in death, what he could not achieve in life.

Hegemony and Disarmament
Keeping in view Israel’s secret nuclear weapons programme, don’t you think that same standards should be applied to all West Asia nations, and not just to Iran.
Certainly. Recall that the major UN resolution on Iraq to which the U.S. and U.K. appeal, Resolution 687 of April 1991, calls for “establishing in the Middle East a zone free from weapons of mass destruction and all missiles for their delivery”. The U.S. has repeatedly made similar commitments, but of course does not abide by them, and has now also violated them in the case of India. Furthermore, we should bear in mind that the Non-Proliferation Treaty commits all nuclear states to undertake “good faith” efforts to eliminate nuclear weapons. That was a core part of the initial bargain. That is a binding legal commitment, as the World Court ruled a decade ago. None of the nuclear states has abided by that commitment, but the U..S is far in the lead in rejecting it, and has even declared, under Bush, that it is not bound by it.
I feel under the weather today; some mild bug.:omg:
:paranoid:sure its just some mild bug?
ok well im going later everybody!

I want one of those! 😀
Welcome back Kat. Glad to hear all is well and improving.
Phone the neighbors, wake the kids, it’s time for another journey into the bizarre world of…
CRUELLA WATCH! :omg:
For anyone still wondering if a certain member of the Bush crime family (thanks, Mike) will be throwing his oversized hat into the ring to replace Ms. Quarter-Turn, let me quote the “man” himself:
NO! HELL, NO!

And to celebrate Kat’s recuperation, a special BONUS edition of

I can’t believe no one thought of this before, but good for Robert Friedman for putting it out there first. Enjoy.

While watching Stephanopoulos this morning (I got up just in time to almost completely miss Joe Wilson, which was why I wanted to watch it in the first place), a thought occured:
Does Cokie Roberts need to get laid or what? Not to sound sexist, but the woman was really wound up tight this morning.
And no, I’m NOT volunteering.:barf:
Actually, I could probably say the same thing about George Will. And I’m not volunteering for that either.
Check this
I remember hearing them on Diane Rehm when that book came out. They made me want to puke. Did you see what the book is going for on Amazon Marketplace? New and used for a penny. Or get a “collectible” copy for 39 cents.
I think every Sunday is “Palm” Sunday for George Will (wink-wink, nudge-nudge).
Why music radio sucks and will suck.
Body: Corporate created culture sucks for many reasons. It sucks because imitation is prized over originality. It’s always a safer bet to try to sell a copy of something already popular than to risk selling something new.
Corporate culture sucks because it encourages competition and repetition which are never good for art. A band, for example, has to be careful to give the same answers more or less in any interview so as not to piss off any editors who might think somebody else got a scoop.
Corporate culture sucks because it tries to appeal to the most people possible without offending anyone, so everything becomes bland, unless it is selling to a niche that likes offensive culture, and there the conformity is just as rigid.
Corporate culture sucks because to break even, hundreds of thousands of units have to be sold so there is enormous pressure on everyone involved to do things by the book. That or you lose your job.
Corporate culture sucks most of all because it cheats. Especially in today’s America where the current administration continues to whore for corporations like the whole country is up for sale. . .

COPS OF THE WORLD
By Phil Ochs
Come, get out of the way, boys
Quick, get out of the way
You’d better watch what you say, boys
Better watch what you say
We’ve rammed in your harbor and tied to your port
And our pistols are hungry and our tempers are short
So bring your daughters around to the port
‘Cause we’re the Cops of the World, boys
We’re the Cops of the World
We pick and choose as please, boys
Pick and choose as please
You’d best get down on your knees, boys
Best get down on your knees
We’re hairy and horny and ready to shack
We don’t care if you’re yellow or black
Just take off your clothes and lie down on your back
‘Cause we’re the Cops of the World, boys
We’re the Cops of the World
Our boots are needing a shine, boys
Boots are needing a shine
But our Coca-cola is fine, boys
Coca-cola is fine
We’ve got to protect all our citizens fair
So we’ll send a battalion for everyone there
And maybe we’ll leave in a couple of years
‘Cause we’re the Cops of the World, boys
We’re the Cops of the World
Dump the reds in a pile, boys
Dump the reds in a pile
You’d better wipe of that smile, boys
Better wipe off that smile
We’ll spit through the streets of the cities we wreck
We’ll find you a leader that you can’t elect
Those treaties we signed were a pain in the neck
‘Cause we’re the Cops of the World, boys
We’re the Cops of the World
Clean the johns with a rag, boys
Clean the johns with a rag
If you like you can use your flag, boys
If you like you can use your flag
We’ve got too much money we’re looking for toys
And guns will be guns and boys will be boys
But we’ll gladly pay for all we destroy
‘Cause we’re the Cops of the World, boys
We’re the Cops of the World
Please stay off of the grass, boys
Please stay off of the grass
Here’s a kick in the ass, boys
Here’s a kick in the ass
We’ll smash down your doors, we don’t bother to knock
We’ve done it before, so why all the shock?
We’re the biggest and toughest kids on the block
‘Cause we’re the Cops of the World, boys
We’re the Cops of the World
When we butchered your son, boys
When we butchered your son
Have a stick of our gum, boys
Have a stick of our buble-gum
We own half the world, oh say can you see
The name for our profits is democracy
So, like it or not, you will have to be free
‘Cause we’re the Cops of the World, boys
We’re the Cops of the World.
Hey everybodeee!!
Well, I made it through another day!…and what a day it was!
Grandpa came up and 1) made my Mom go and take down my IMpeach Bush lawn sign 2) gave me a speech about how it is against the law to post such a sign, and that someone is gonna bomb my house and attack my car for the bumper stickers! (youd hardly know that this was a guy in Red Channels who stood up for and employed supposed commies!) on and on about how really, really bad and connected these guys are 3) Fell on the path (which was one of my worries along with his driving) and while flailing at me to not help him, finally realized that he couldnt get up, so I had to literally lift him from under the arms, thereby hurting my back again. And he feels so helpless and lousy about losing balance and walking ability 4) finally careened away with a car full of laundry soap and the matzoh Ive been collecting for him at the pre passover sales….
Sometimes I see my future laid out in front of me in startling detail….its tiring…
I at least got to the bird store to buy gifts for my Tweet…
And I caught Joe Wilson, who is doing a great job of not clapping his hands with glee (which is what I would be doing if I didnt have to worry about my house getting bombed because of a sign that Ive displayed since the middle of the first term!
I kept the shows on with no sound while I sat and talked to grandpa and looked over longingly from time to time at my paper and the shows there without me!
Even MOm finally bailed and went to my sister’s where she knew she could watch qand read…
But luckily I have PJ’s rundown, which saves me alot of time and also makes me laugh…just as good as being there, I say!
And the reference of the day is : “Fareed”Token” Zakaria,” which made me laugh out loud!
Welcome Home Kat! Hoping you only have BushCo to irritate your skin really soon.
CK, a friend founded a company out here that makes/does what you are asking for:

Wow–
So much to respond to, and I need to turn in soon!
First off, welcome back, Kat! I mean, welcome home. I mean . . . oh, I’m just glad you’re out of the hospital and back on the blog again! I’m glad you liked the arrangement–it sounds beautiful!
PJ, I think you called it right about West Wing. Somewhere in the middle of the show I shouted to hubby, “PJ called it!” Of course, over the television, he thought I’d said CJ and didn’t know what I was talking about. But I think you’re on to something.
sblue, I’m sorry for you if we have this in common. I’m not sure that the rain washes it away. Yesterday it rained a lot and was a bad day for me . . . I too have wondered if it’s hormonal or age-related. I’m not sure when I very first noticed the phenomenon, but I’m pretty sure it was shortly after I turned 40. =sigh=
After posting this morning I found out that there’s a smell and taste clinic at University of Pennsylvania, but I’m betting my insurance wouldn’t cover it–and really I’m just curious as to how sensitive my olfactory nerves are. I mean, I have terrible sinuses, I’m almost always congested even with drugs (I can’t tell you how many sweet-voiced customer service reps have asked me how my cold is over the years), and still, I can smell things that hubby wouldn’t notice in a million years. (And not just the faux smoke smell inside my nose.)
Man, I am all over the place here. Guess I’m more tired than I thought. (We had a busy weekend playing catch-up housecleaning and doing Passover shopping. Hubby really loves the old-fashioned, tastes-like-sweetened-cardboard fare, which is actually getting harder to come by.) I’m sure I’ve missed a few other posts I wanted to reference, too.
Zeb, I haven’t checked the link yet, but I will!
‘Night, :sheep:le!
Oh, of course: Melina, I was sorry to hear about Hi’s adventures today. Hope he–and the matzoh–made it home safely.:rabbi:
Kat!! Ive been off and on and running round trying to get stuff done befoe the week starts…Welcome back!!
It was so great to read your mail and to know youre home!
I know that everyone is off watching the Sopranos right around now…but IM taping it because Im a couple of weeks behind. Im actually catching up on 24 this week, and I LOVE that!!
Im also really upset about Arrested Development…thats another show that is better on DVD. I migth have subsctibed to SHO on demand if they had gone through with it, but maybe there isnt anything left for that family. The first season was best I guess!
SBlue- an old frined of mine recently bought a country house in Burlington VT, I was thinking that it may be a good place to go if the Repugs dont go down. It night be nice to live in a liberal, artistic place…
Im gonna go soon and visit an dcheck it out as a place to flee to.
CK-I think that air over there is really bad. I also spend half the month very sensitive to all smells, to the point where I feel dizzy if highway fumes come in the car!…also though, my Mom has been saying that the dust is different since 911, and that the air is definitley worse. She has asthma and is really effected by air quality issues. I can really notice a dfifference between just here and there…less cars and more trees makes for cleaner air! I hope you guys can get out of the city for at least a while!
I guess Im going to hit the hay with the paper…I havent had a chance to even look though I have a feeling that the best parts are down with my Mom…
Nite sheeple…catch you in the morning!
Oh- and Yes Hi made it home fine, as always, supplies in tow…and called me to talk for an hour more. I am trying to explain how internet radio works in general and its a very hard subject for someone who is used to concrete stations and markets….but Ive piques his interest finally…after years…I think its that my understanding and explanatory skills are getting better or something.
