1:banana::yawn: this sucks i shouldnt be tired yet! ugh he my ipod is playing some lou reed sweet! yay ok im taking a nap someone e-mail me the newest krugman article i know he had one a day or two ago and i need it yep or post a link or something uh huh ok thx later sheeple
Well I see the NYC audience isn’t ready for any real information this time of day.. Riley’s first hour prime topic is a review of a book about baseball.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ:fustrate::blech::crap::yawn::yawn:
:joe:hey fred yep ALMOST as bad as the fucking diet guy that was on yesterday!
wow, this is something worth reading http://www.brainshrub.com/canadian-comment-invade-iran
If Riley is tailoring his show around what the NYC audience wants to hear this time of day then its no wonder we can’t get anyone into the streets.. I guess we need to start up the draft so that all the 18 – 30 year olds get unplugged from their honeys . That got their attention before.
:spank:no draft! oh wait i cant get drafted i was already enlisted ok draft away!
Riley needs to repeat to himself over and over
Political talk radio… political talk radio… political talk radio.. Bush is going to start WWIII we must stop him….Bush is going to start WWIII we must stop him..
I have a great idea if Riley really wants his program to be sports radio we will get Randi Rant to come in and help him out in the morning… or make him listen to one of her reruns for four hours.. sheeeez
Good morning sheeple! :sheep:
Did Bush drop the bomb yet?
Nice to hear the Nats fans booing Cheney yesterday. I’m just surprised he didn’t hit anyone in the face with the baseball. Too limp-wristed to throw it that far, I guess.
:fu::fu::fu:
No Kevin Bush hasn’t dropped the bomb yet.. at least one of the nuclear variety.. One can answer that question each morning by simply pinching your self if you feel pain you are still here so he hasn’t dropped the bomb yet.
Sean, thought you might like this Paul Krugman site.
Damn, my computer went and updated itself 15 minutes in the show last night. I was hoping to take it with me today. Oh well, I hope the torrent gets posted early.
Can you believe the Washington Post is spinning the fact that Cheney got booed?!
Bush is a sociopath
Good morning, :sheep:le.
Thanks for that link, egotils. I’m still reading the piece. I guess I’m not awake enough to read it in one sitting. But I’m mesmerized. The U.S. has truly become a rogue state. FUCK!
***
We had hoped to make a nice seder this year for friends and family (ie, stepson), but the events of the past month made that all but impossible. (The good news is, I didn’t have to rescind any invites b/c I’d first started putting out feelers in January, when no one was thinking about Passover. Otis got sick right around the time when I would have been getting down to business, which I never did. So folks weren’t counting on us to get it together.) Passover is, for me, like a Jewish Thanksgiving. Although some of my friends have disagreed, saying the food is much better at Thanksgiving!
And we have much to be thankful for right now, especially as our boy continues his brilliant recovery. But tonight, it will just be hubby and me, and we will likely not even crack open the Haggadah. It won’t be without meaning and, perhaps, having said that will inspire us to at least go through some of the motions. (I am making a brisket tonight, after all.)
But tomorrow night is when I had originally hoped to make the family-and-friends seder (Jews outside of Israel observe the first two nights), and stepson is playing a big gig in the Village. He’s got the stage for 3 hours and will be accompanied by some pretty talented guests. So . . . that’s how we will be spending the second night.
If any of you young folks in the NYC area are interested, you can get more info here.
Jeez, I have been working on this post for 20 minutes! I gotta start doin’ some brisket prep before I run out to the doctor this morning. Who’s choppin’ onions? That would be me!
isi- That’s obvious even without the link!
I said it before, and I’ll say it again:
The Washington Post has gone from exposing the lies to espousing them.
(Catchy, no?)
Mornin’, KK. Or should I say, Evenin’?
Mornin’ to you, CK :yinyang:
mmm… brisket! I can almost dream about smelling it.
Cold :joe::omg:
Yikes! Who’s choppin’ onions indeed!
🙁
I hope my eyes feel better by the time I have to drive!
(Hey . . . how come the crying emo didn’t work? :rant1:)
Good morning everybody!!
Thanks isi for that great Krugman site.
I am trying to piece together my addressbook on the new computer and just getting to my usual list of who gets NY Times op-eds on a regular basis…so if you usually do and I havent sent out today’s Dowd or the Krugman from a couple of days ago email me at doubter at optonline dot net so I can be sure to have your address in my addressbook here.
I have a ton of em om my phone too but I havent got that far yet! And if you just want to be added to the list send me your address. I will try to post Dowd at RIP Coco but rightnow I cant get in because of some cookie problem.
This is a glitch with blogspot in general bit is worse when you add all this newfangled security stuff added to the newest version of windows.
INcredible how much theyve changed and maybe improved things in the new version…but the security is really intricate.
Good morning/evening. So, do you think the CIA gave Iran those blueprints for nuclear weapons so that they could say they are building nuclear weapons so that we can attack them? I think I’m getting the hang of this kind of ulterior motive thinking.
CK, happy passover. I wish we did passover, but we dont. Grandpa is just too tired to care much as long as Ive made him some stew and stuff….and since my Mom is lapsed catholic we embrace the bunny…being candy lovers…and that the bunny is considered to be pagan…
Anyway, as a card carrying member of the Peeps fan club I can attest to the fact that on Easter one must have only gently aged peeps, stored for 3-4 weeks in the top of the tallest cabinet in the house with a slit in the plastic.
(I catually had a long talk with a couple of old ladies about this at Target the other day…it turns out that I am not the only one who ages peeps!)…and that they with no patience put the peeps in the freezer, which is a sorry alternative for those who would not wait for the peak of perfection of peepdom!
Sometimes its nice to not have a whole crowd for these holidays…it brings you back to basics.
And the show tomorrow looks great! Who knew that your stepson was so grownup and handsome and talented? I love that country psycho grunge stuff but am just too old…did I tell you I used to be heavily around that village scene because I was dating a musician for years? (he actually got signed and went to Nashville and had records and a bus and all before becoming a junkie…now recovered I guess…)…god, the kids just keep coming and taking the place of the oldsters and we just keep getting older! I so wish I could pop down but I have a feeling that I will be exhausted, as usual!
I have the sinking suspicion that soon Will is gonna be that big….and cute! Wow!
Why dont they start these shows at 6 or 7 PM? I need the geriatric showtimes, like the shuffleboard court and the holiday cruise…
If I wasnt so afraid of falling overboard, like that guy from Greenwich, I would suggest a seditionist cruise with special guests Marc and Marc and Brendan and Dan…and Lil Goliath and….all of em…
Wouldnt that be cool?…though I could personally live without Riley…but it wouldnt be complete without him somehow.
KP, I have even thought that maybe we rigged the election in Iran so the extremist would win the election, which would give us an excuse to attack them.
:billcat:
Hey Krista! Hi KK….
Hey, cnick, if youre around this morning…Im trying to listen to part 1 of MOnday’s show at the web of men…and for some reason it wont play. Is there a button I have to click to get it? Im on its own page and it seemed to have downloaded…but then nothing…
If it were security settings on this little fortress windows would tell me. Its got all of these little notes like “we are withholding pictures until you click here because its safer that way…sites can collect information from you upon download of image files…who knew? I want the pictures!
Yeah isi, I don’t think you can be too paranoid anymore. And in fact, it seems like the most outrageous things are the ones that are true.
Here is a little film…what if Microsoft designed the ipod…very funny and true!
And CK this is for you and your boys!
John Kerry, known in some Massachusetts circles as Senator Weathervane, made quite a splash in a NYT op-ed this week where he seemed to be calling for U.S. withdrawal from Iraq. But as always with our slippery junior Senator, one must read his proposals very carefully. Here is what he said in the NYT:
“Iraqi politicians should be told that they have until May 15 to put together an effective unity government or we will immediately withdraw our military. If Iraq’s leaders succeed in putting together a government, then we must agree on another deadline: a schedule for withdrawing American combat forces by year’s end.ONLY TROOPS ESSENTIAL TO FINISHING THE JOB OF TRAINING IRAQI FORCES SHOULD REMAIN.” (Emphasis mine.)
In the first place this is not a call for withdrawal, but for “Iraqization” of the conflict, the same strategy that failed in Vietnam and in the process cost so many lives, a strategy which Kerry decried at the time. Secondly, Kerry does not call for total withdrawal of troops but rather for “troops essential to finishing the job of training Iraqi forces” to remain behind. However, the distinction between combat forces and “training” forces is a tricky one. Are the U.S. forces that “accompany” the sad sack Iraqi forces combat troops? Or are they “training” forces? And it would seem that those training forces will require “enduring bases” to house them.

What happened to the blog?
:knit:
We need a smiley face for someone up their aft in Alligators
From an item at DU:
The crowd of half a million people purred enthusiastically along. Even when the Paletas Pinguinos carts halted in mid-stream, people with their flags, signs, and baby strollers, smoothly parted and made room for the exchange. People chanted, “Si, se puede” and “La Pueblo…” and “Bush, escucha, esta es una lucha.”
When we reached the final destination, City Hall, a street was blocked off on either end by a phalanx of police dressed in full riot gear. They had their face shields down and their batons poised. There were at least twenty policemen on horses.
On this street, five Anglos with anti-immigration signs were privy to full police protection. The crowd stopped to view the scene. But as we drew closer, to see the militaristic outpost more than anything, we were pushed further away while we watched the hand-full of counter-protesters leaving their designated protest area and moving amongst the police officers dressed in riot gear.
Gotta go rehearse for an upcoming show!:nixon:
Round up the illegals! Right, you creep on Scarborough’s show.
Franken is mocking the notion of an auto-de-fey style round ups. The talkshows seem to be playing on the same script: Round them up!
You rightwingers. Let’s roundup the rightwingers. We have concentration camps already in place.

A House subcommittee handed phone companies a victory Wednesday by voting 27-4 to advance a bill that would make it easier for them to deliver television service over the Internet and clearing the way for all Internet carriers to charge more for speedier delivery.
The lopsided vote was a defeat for Internet and technology firms like Google and Microsoft, which had hoped to amend the bill to enforce a principle called network neutrality and preserve the status quo under which all Internet traffic is treated equally.
Earlier in the day, the subcommittee voted 23-8 to reject an amendment by Rep. Ed Markey, D-Mass., that would have inserted specific language designed to enforce network neutrality and prevent the feared creation of fast and slow lanes on the Internet.
Members from both sides of the aisle endorsed a plan which will permit cable and phone companies to construct ‘pay as you surf, pay as you post’ toll booths for the Internet,” said Jeff Chester, executive director of the Center for Digital Democracy in Washington.
Somewhere I saw an article about one of these Hispanic marches yesterday where the city was going to charge the organizers 50k for the police needed to “contain the march” and said they would lock up the organizers if they didn’t pay it..
I feel like one of the “left behind” folks since Marc has started taping his show. I didn’t feel like staying up last night to listen to a taped show and since I don’t podcast or have radio replay I feel like a cast-off. 😥
Hopefully the torrent of last nights show will get posted later today.. or tomorrow .. or Friday… then you can download the MP3 and play it on your computer.
Wow, where WAS everybody today? Last-minute Passover preparations perhaps?
:rabbi:
Well, I had to go to class, then bang out an exam in between taking the dog out the park for a romp and a swim. It’s 74 here today, though clouding up and “only” supposed to be 58 tomorrow (which is fine by me; I prefer it cool).
Now maybe I’ll do my taxes. Nah.
:rabbi::sdavid::rabbi:hag sameach/happy Passover. I never knew what the bread of affliction was until I attended a Chabad seder. Their shmurah (super kosher, guarded-from-the-time-the-wheat-is-sown) whole wheat matzo is the most inedible food stuff in the universe. Feh!!!:
Maron AAR blog is up,
Some funny 😎
This is really creepy.
(I subscribe to a service that sends me emergency weather information. Today’s e-mail came with the subject header “NY: Illegal immigration activities.”)
The brisket is simmering and there is a lovely aroma of bay leaf and onions throughout the house. Otis is letting me know that he wants a “nice piece brisket” when it’s done. (He has been roaming the first floor making cooing noises for the past hour.)
I’m tired from running around all morning (to the ancestral homeland–Long Island–for a dr’s appt and then to resume the search for the low-end Passover
brickcake that hubby loves so well), but it’s a peaceful kind of tired. I’d love to go upstairs and lie down for a while but I can’t stray too far from the kitchen. (And hubby is stuck in traffic, so I likely won’t get any relief from my brisket watch.)Just a little snapshot of Passover in Astoria . . .
:rofl2:
That is beautiful, Melina!
Thank you for your kind words about my stepson. He is cute, isn’t he? I’m looking forward to the gig, although I’d best remember to bring my earplugs with me. It’s three hours long, so I can’t afford to forget! (Thankfully, this one does start at 7, so I won’t be up till all hours.)
Oh, man. I can’t wait for dinner! Smells soooo good!
Happy Passover, :sheep:le!
Have a wonderful passover, CK. I’d love to come for dinner; I love brisket. I actually have one; I should have put it up for tonight. We don’t observe the holiday, but brisket proves that there is a God and he wants us to be happy.:banana: (kosher banana)
Thanks, Brilliant. I agree completely!
hey go to youtube and watch the new clerks movie trailer!
ok well im going away now be back uh some other day dont know when!

Hey, Sean. Still here . . . but not for long!

Pre taped Maron Show SUCKS!
I know what will get this thread kicking! Another exciting installment of…
CRUELLA WATCH! :omg:
From today’s Wonkette. It’s pretty bad when she can’t even catch a break from Fox News.
(There will now be a short pause to allow everyone to laugh at the oxymoron “Fox News.”)
:rofl2:
Actually, the Fox link is mostly worth reading. I won’t tell if you don’t. 😀

On the Fox link, don’t click to enlarge either the 2nd or 3rd picture if you’re having dinner or if small children are in the room.

Excellent, Kevin–thanks for sharing!
She is one scary lady.:omg:
I think hubby is still stuck in traffic. Good thing it’s not, like, a holiday or anything.
Is DHS Monitoring DailyKos?
Normally, I would figure that a government agency tasked to protect our homeland from foreign threats and terrorist activity would not be bothered to monitor the on-line political ramblings of a gaggle of pseudo-anonymous lefty bloggers.
I guess I was wrong…
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2006/4/12/154715/351

PJ had mentioned that this blog has had several DHS visitors too.. I would think they would use a proxy server to connect to the web so it wouldn’t be so obvious.
Very interesting, fred. Just think, whenever we go to a site they get all that information on us. I don’t like that. :paranoid:

Well, you know DHS. Ever vigilant. They’re even keeping Kentucky bingo halls safe from terror!

Kevin- Is it true that Jeb is being encouraged to run in Cruella’s place?
CK- sounds so nice over there…Im eating pretzles and watercress for dinner…so far…maybe some chocolate sorbet for dessert followed by aged peeps! At least survivor is on tonight.
This taped show nonsense is really sad…again, Im sad…I havent listened to last night’s show yet and I feel sorta down about it.
Isi, do you have AOL instant messenger? If you download it I can transfer the show(s) to you easily. Its a free, easy download, and has a good file transfer application…
Marc has cut the connection/interaction with his fans.
I feel like he just broke up with us!
And, his show will suffer for it.
Nope, no aol. I am very low tech. I do have dsl/windows xp. But, that’s the extent of my gizmos.
Melina . . . did you ever get it to play? Once its downloaded you must click the play button! I’ve just uploaded last nights show. http://web.mac.com/ofmen/iWeb/Site/Podcast/Podcast.html
Okay I’ve got a sure fire plan for electing a Democrat in 08! Hillary Clinton, as President and Bill Clinton, as Vice President!!! Talk about a winning ticket! Clinton/Clinton 08
Regarding Marc’s show? I don’t like “Tab” commercials interrupting the stream. God damnit to hell. Later

A little note that has absolutely nothing to do with politics. I’ve now had Windows XP Professional installed on my Intel Imac for a week and I can say that it is faster than OSX which is kinda weird since this is a MAC for God’s sake! I know Apple must be seeing this too. So I’m hoping that Apple will twick their OS so that it runs as fast. It is nice to have the best of both worlds. PJ, you might like to know that I’ve ordered a Mandiva Linux disc and plan on trying to install it on my Intel. I don’t know if that will be possible. But I’m gonna try. Karl Rove has probably instructed his thugs to infiltrate my machines. Bring it on turdblossom. I’ll take your fat ass out back and beat the holy hell out of you you sum bitch! I hope Fitzgerald gets your ass before I do or they’ll be nothing left of you. Turd! Republican’s are all assholes and criminals. lol
:rabbi::sdavid::rabbi::jesus:
cnick. I didnt try again yet but I will tomorrow. There was no button that worked…what looked like a button was on the bottom middle of the picture but it didnt do anything when I clicked it. Will it play on any player? Maybe this new dell didnt come with quicktime or whatever, but usually the XP asks you if you want it and helps direct to it
As far as homeland security looking at your place goes, Im sure that if you and your homeboys were a little younger the pervs at the HS dept would be coming out of the woodwork to “question” you;-)….but they do tend to go for the prepubescent ones, dont they….?
Maybe its less threatening that way.
Im wondering i I can get a briscuit at Whole Foods…one raised humanely and never fed other cow’s brains….I wonder if Will would like it. We eat so little meat around here but he loves steak…of which he only has the organic humane type…unless hes out of my control somewhere, then I cant stop him from getting the occasional roast beef sandwich etc…my sister is a prion freak!! I must say that shes had it right for years, but then, if its been here in the amount she thinks already then we all have it and can expect to come down with the brain wasting disease sometime in the next 10 years….
I choose to only eat healthily raised meats as much as possible.
cnick…seems to me that XP is faster too when I deal with my son’s new laptop…a Mac that we hate.
I really like XP, but the new version has so much security that Im sorta struggling to contain it all.
Can I come to the big fight when you beat the hell out of Turdblossom et al?
We’ve got to notify sugar ray Leonard and Sly Stallone and make it a pay per view extravaganza with Homeland Security and their young dates, and Condi and Laura as the round girls!
Maybe fight club is a better way to go…I dont know if I could take the between rounds show….
Nite everyone….
Isi, I agree…it is like Marc is gone again…just too sad.
The big thing is the interaction with the fans and I cant believe that its gonna work without that. Even if I cant listen live, I like to read the blog later and have him talk to people on the phone live…What about Brian from Everett? Will he become a pre recorded bit too? The beauty of Brian is that you never know if hes gonna pull it off and he always does…and its live and brilliant…
God, the first time he called and left all those messages was the greatest radio ever! I had it on tape and replayed it twice for my son….and he still sings inconsistent mental disposition…
I wonder if Brian has a computer…..
nite guys….
Maybe tomorrow I will start writing letters to AAR and XM and local stations or…?…who else?
I need a cruise on the funny boat!
Hmmm. I dunno if you can get brisket at Whole Foods, but I don’t see why you couldn’t. I don’t make it very often, and in my opinion the piece I made tonight was either not a great cut or sat in my freezer a little too long. BUT: The best part (besides the wonderful smell) is always the incredible, vegetable-thick gravy that comes from being simmered for hours on end. I think next time, I might try to do the whole thing without the meat and see if I can’t make a nice veggie stew out of it! (I’ll of course post the results here.)
I’ve been eating a lot more beef recently–this from someone who didn’t eat it much and gave it up entirely when the first mad cow reports started coming in. But I’ve found (after going back on the Scarsdale Diet a few years ago) that when I’m trying to lose weight, I actually do better with animal protein than with grains and legumes. But just this week I happened to read something about animal protein leaching calcium from the body . . . not what this 45-y-o woman needs to be doing!
ANYWAY . . . I’m gonna go kick back. Hubby’s doing the dishes, and now it’s my turn to relax.
Night, :sheep:le!
Hum! Well Melina you prolly ought to download Quick Time if it isn’t on your system. Maybe that’ll fix whatever issue you’ve got going on there. Sounds like your machine is configured with to much security. As long as your system is firewalled and protected by antivirus software (I like McAfee best) you should be okay. You should also go to Microsoft’s website and download, “Defender” its a great package that’ll protect your Windows machine from spyware and the like. I have it running here on my XP partition on my Imac. Go here to download “Defender” its in beta, but it works great: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=435bfce7-da2b-4a6a-afa4-f7f14e605a0d&DisplayLang=en
Well I’ve setup my machines to record a short show tonight . . . damnit-to-hell . . . I complained on Marc’s blog about all this shit we’re having to walk through to hear his show. It stinks! Pew. “Won’t you do something about it please Marc?”
Spiritdancer22 , Oh and it does remind me of my Amer/Irish Corned Beef and … :rofl2:
THEN: George W. Bush, November 12, 2002: “We don’t know how close he is today, but a Saddam Hussein with a nuclear weapon is a grave, grave threat to America and our friends and allies.
NOW: George W. Bush, January 16, 2006: “Iran armed with a nuclear weapon poses a grave threat to the security of the world.”
THEN: Donald Rumsfeld, September 19, 2002: “. . . No terrorist state poses a greater or more immediate threat to the security of our people than the regime of Saddam Hussein in Iraq.”
NOW: George W. Bush, March 16, 2006: “We may face no greater challenge from a single country than from Iran. (Thanks to this post at the Daily Kos for assembling these quotes.)

That is unless that put a straight jackit on me and started slapping me around. Then I’d get mad for sure. They’d have to knock me out to keep me quite. Otherwise my local buds would come to my rescue. “We’ve been putting up with their s-h-i-t long enough, we’re mad . . . mad as hell . . . and we’re not gonna take it any mo!” This is our GD country. I pay my damn taxes too! Okay? So if I wanna bitch about the way things are around here, I Goddamn will. I’m sick and tired of all these DAMN christians and their knee deep BS bible crap. They’ve been waiting 2000 + fucking years for Jesus Christ to come back. Where is he? What’s taking him so long? Huh? You ppl are fools. JC isn’t coming back. And one other thing before I go. If you are a Christian and think I’m going to hell for being “this way” then FU too. I’d rather go to h e double ll than to go to heaven with a bunch of idiots like those I’ve seen going around preaching their BS. The bible is a book written by a bunch of men. MEN, get it? God exists cause you want him too. Any of this making sense now? No? Well I guess you’re just to damn dumb to figure it out and are hopelessly lost.
I’m going to bed now. If I die before I wake at least I’ll won’t have to put up with this BS anymore. But I’d miss not being able to see if we somehow manage to get though it all. If the world does indeed become a better place someday. Or if the Republicans and Christians succeed in turning this great Democracy into a theocracy! How tragic that would be. Why don’t these ppl worry about themselves and quit worring about ppl like me. I don’t believe in God, Jesus Christ, Heaven or hell. It’s all just made up to keep us in line. Get it? They want to control us. And a lot of you out there are doing exactly what these brain washing evil-doers want. Bush is just projecting all his evil on us. He and his demons want to take over the world. They want all the worlds wealth in the hands of the elite, a small band of assholes. And the rest of us will be working for less than minimum wage if they have their way. Wake up you fools before it is too late. Damnit! Okay . . . now I’ve got to get some sleep.
