Last night, we went to a town hall meeting focusing on the Iraq War. There was one person who spoke about how this thing has failed, and how we need to get out of there, and another who spouted the same old tired talking points about Saddam was bad, gassed his own people, yada, yada, yada.
Then there was a panel, made up of our elected officials (Congress, and the United States Senate), and those that are running against them. That is, they were all invited, but…
On the other hand, we did get the three Democrats running against Jimmy Walsh (longtime Bush buttboy, and before that, he sucked a lotta Newt and Delay, too), and Steve Greenfield, who is runing for the Democratic nomination for US Senate, against Hillary Clinton. He was, by far, the highlight of the evening, and he’s got my vote in the primary.
My choice for the Democratric primary for Congress was also solidified, as Dan Maffei looks like a solid choice, even if he is pretty entrenched in the whole Democratic party machine. He’s shown up at peace events, and has said he oppopsed Iraq from the beginning. It’s very important to get this Walsh clown out, and I just hope Maffei can do it.
Enjoy your Friday.
Rejoicing in all these indictments and possibilities of indictments may be a bit premature. Oly North got sent to prison but the next thug that took office pardoned him. I think there are eight convicted felons in the Bush inner circle.. One has to ask how many non convicted felons are there too. ??
Riley and Bender go together really well.. Both of them would make Hillary prowd.:barf::rant1::fustrate:
Riley manages to weave sports into all aspects of his program.. I suppose that since most sports teams are divisions of thug enterprises that indictments make sense.. Sports are part of the great distraction.. they along with reality TV keep the frogs from noticing that they are being boiled alive.
I wonder if in addition to telling crude jokes, singing and whining about the arrangement of the deck chairs if the passengers on the Titanic talked sports just before the ship went down ??
I find the support of the Israeli genocide of the native population in the middle east by our supposedly left leaning liberal media appalling..
I sometimes wonder if AAR’s morning programs aren’t there to keep the liberals/progressives distracted rather than providing some incites into solving the problems.:mad::barf::rant1:
How much would someone like to bet that.. the employers being targeted by the thugs for employing illegals are democrats ??
WOW… only twenty more minutes and Rachel will be on :banana::banana:
PJ, that’s a sad picture. Although I think to get Schumer and Hillary to show, you probably should have stashed some money on those chairs. Or at least a microphone.
Good to hear that at least some candidates were in attendance. The woman they drafted to run against Bill Young in my congressional district doesn’t even have a website up yet.
In the immortal words of Will Rogers, “I belong to no organized party. I’m a Democrat.”
Peter Gabriel is on NOW tonight on PBS. Check your local listings.
fred re #4
I feel most are talking, but few are doing and time is fastly moving. AAR was great on getting the info out but now stagnant on ACTION. The talkshow hosts should help get the people to coordinate different actions. They have the voice now move and do MORE than talk. Most do not have access to so many people. I think they should lead the way and help with directions, beyond just talking.
pj, like the symbolism of the empty chairs. 😀
have any ratings numbers come out on how well the Air America Morning is doing?
let the recess appointments begin
Sometimes these trusties positions are semi permanent so these people much like the judges on the supreme court will stay around after the Bush Admin has gone to prison. The congress people as I think we have noticed are clueless on both sides of the isle so these people will surface to say something and the bobble heads in congress will agree with them even though what they say will make no sense.
this is a provocative piece:
I have a morbid, non-political question to ask anyone.
I think, a short bit ago, my rat finally died as I held him close to my heart. He had a cancerous tumor. I thought he had died several times before, but he hadn’t. So I stopped thinking that way. I have gone through many pet deaths throughout my life, even cat and kitten deaths. His body looked like rigamortis and he was still alive. His tail does not have a feeling of rigamortis but that could be because its a Rat tail.
I have been trying to ascertain if faint pulse is from my fingers (not using thumb–and I was trained to take pulses) or since it feels so faint, that it might still be Karma’s. But I feel he went threw a slow series of Death’s Breath and is gone. I just want to confirm so I can not wonder if he will be buried alive. (Sick fear, probably because I read Poe in grammer school, not in junior or senior (high) school.)
:smile::cry: Blessings, Safe passage Karma:gate:
Anyone with any ideas to confirm a Rat’s Death?
geez, druid, not a clue. how long between your believing he was dead and the burial? either way, it sounds like he was unconscious and you shouldn’t fret too much.
He had a good death. He and Dharma were on their to the “pound” bound for death then. Now they have been living in Rat Castle Cages, taking turns on sunny days to go out and play in sun.
Farmerkat I think you just answered my question.
it sounds like he was unconscious and you shouldn’t fret too much
Thank You. You gave my mind :peace: He will be buried tomorrow (for me) which is today, but a bit later.
I think I will finally go get me some tea:joe: and then be up a bit longer. Please, talk about the issues.:smile:again.
Farmerkat, did you hear what The (=MANY) Physicists
said in letter to bush several days ago?
In 1800, Alessandro Volta arranged zinc and copper discs in a column and invented the battery. 204 years later, Toyota has electrified automotive history with the first high-performance hybrid, named in his honor. The Giugiaro-designed carbon-fiber body seats three people abreast and features “drive-by-wire” controls, allowing you to position the steering wheel and pedals in front of any one of them. And the Volta’s 408-hp Hybrid Synergy Drive® (a 3.3-liter V6 with an electric motor for each axle) not only delivers 435 miles on a 13.7-gallon tank, but 0-60 acceleration in a mere four seconds. Somewhere, Count Volta is smiling.

Local Stations Run Out Of Gasoline (PA, NJ, DE)
http://www.nbc10.com/news/8847571/detail.html
Gas stations in three East Coast states ran out of fuel on Thursday as gas prices soared. Shortages were reported in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania on Thursday afternoon. They could last as long as 30 days.
NBC 10 was live at one gas station when the pumps went dry at rush hour.
An NBC 10 news team was at a Wilmington, Del., gas station on Thursday afternoon, where reporter Bill Baldini informed drivers pulling up to the pumps that the station was on empty.
Closer to home for NBC10.com, a Luk Oil station just blocks from our station was out of gas as news trucks hit the street to report the Thursday afternoon news. Stations on the Admiral Wilson Boulevard in New Jersey and in several Pennsylvania areas are also out of fuel, or only selling premium fuel, AAA told NBC 10.
By temporary, AAA and other experts said the shortage situation could be for as long as 30 days. The news was unwelcome to drivers who saw a big jump at the gas pumps overnight. On Thursday morning, NBC 10 reported that prices at some local gas stations had hit $3 per gallon.
fred WOW, I’m going to show my husband this “lil toy”. 🙂
$2.95 at the gas station by my house yesterday. We’ll see if we hit $3 today.
Interesting looking car. I wonder how it does in the snow?
I noticed that they also didn’t tell you how much it cost.. The Prius is like 30k so this is going to be big bucks.
Sorry to hear about Karma. Even if it’s expected or after a good, long life, it’s still hard to lose a friend.
Looks like it’s a future concept car, so I don’t think it’s in porduction quite yet. I like this one.
Those PM vehicles look like they would be fine as long as everyone else had one but an accident with a Suburban would not be a nice thing to have.
I dunno, if you’re strapped into a cage (kinda like those Indy car cockpits), you might be all set. You might even be able to detach it and use it to sleep in. The SMART cars are hitting the US. It would be perfect for me (they’re so small, you can park head first at the curb).
pjsauter, thank you :nod::smile::cry:
I only heard coming upstairs, but Ohio is trying to pass a law that will make it a felony to have an abortion. If you go out-of-state it still is a felony.

Israel Preparing to Retake Gaza Strip
By JOSEF FEDERMAN, Associated Press Writer
46 minutes ago
JERUSALEM – In a growing barrage of Israeli pressure against Hamas, a senior military commander said Israel is actively preparing to reoccupy the Gaza Strip and a powerful lawmaker said the entire Palestinian Cabinet could be targeted for assassination after the appointment of a wanted militant to head a new security force.
WTF!:omg:
Among Democrats, 11 percent approve today, while 14 percent approved last April.
These supposeded dems are propably rethug “plants” or are demented.
NickiRose, 😮 Bloody Hell!
“Illogical. Does Not Compute.”
Santa Monica, CA — The Foundation for Taxpayer and Consumer Rights released a new study today of rising gasoline prices in California that found corporate markups and profiteering are responsible for spring price spikes, not rising crude costs or the national switchover to higher-cost ethanol, as the oil industry claims.
Scary. I had barely enough money to pay for gas last time I refilled. Typical for them to do this just in time for the warm weather when everyone wants to go places.
Oh, good moring everyone 🙂 I slept really late for a change
Hi Susan Joy. I might want one of those google emails. You can contact me on my blog linked on this site, ghostgrrrlinthemachine or I’ll be back when I’m done with work.
Hi Ghostgrrl…I’m at your blog (seems pretty cool, by the way, I’ll have to read more)…is there a place there where your e mail address is posted? I’ll need that to send you the g mail invite…
Susan Joy, Kristapea 😉
Susan Joy, gas, back east I think it was Boston or around there gas is going for $4.50 a gallon.
😮
Hi Druid…
Well I’m going to fill in the tank later (in Westchester county, NY) I’ll find out the price when I get there 😥 I don’t think it’s as high as $4.50…but I guess I’ll know soon
Here is a link to the article Nicki posted on Gaza.

http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=31121
Maybe MAC’s graphics drivers under OSX are not as fast.. XFree86 is like windows on DOS I don’t think they have things like Direct Draw and Direct 3D
I lost what I was sending. :growl:
Susan Joy, Most places are $3.something but some 👿 twit was
charging $4.50. back East. (I think somewhere in the Boston area.).

Opening this link plays a song just so you are warned.
Every time Hartman has Saunders on we get all these platitudes but it comes down to the left is powerless WAAAAAAAAAA. Unless one has a solution is their any point even talking about it ?? The Dems will just say the day after the nuclear war that this would not have happened if the voters hadn’t elected Bush.. like this was some great revelation and in six year we couldn’t have organized something to get rid of him. Those who were paying attention will also point out that we didn’t elect Bush.. There response but the left is powerless WAAAAAA. Some one needs to lead not just cry and whimper and then go to the rethugs Saturday night cocktail party..
fred, re #42 thank you for the link. 😮 May it not come to pass. Insanity:!:
re #43 I have always been a Apple/Mac Snob and I never have owned one. I am a great believer in Original Thoughts (Plus I grew up in that area, so I was proud of them although I did not own one.) 😀
Then I wrote things and one needed a PC ONLY/Mostly not a Mac back then. So I pouted and got a PC. But slower or not, oneday an Apple/Mac will be mine. :rofl2:
re #45 I heard it on AAR, now you posted the link with words and music and I  IT. THANKS :yawn:
Druid – I used Pcs till a couple of years ago when I lost my computer in a fire – decided to really start fresh and got an I-Mac. I love it, and I’ll never go back. You don’t realize how many pop-up windows there are in the world until you’re using a Mac for awhile and visit someone with a PC – Macs keep most of that stuff out. And it’s a beautiful, stable system.
 Yeah, it would be cool to have a Zap Smart car, but, ah, I think the price is a little off. 25 Gs:omg: I don’t think so!:40: I guess the corporate juice has been passed around a few. Alright, I’m sure the initial price is high because production and supply will be low, while demand will be high and what not. But, I think it should be around 9-11 Gs. Just saying. Anyway
Oh, well, I’m off. My work here is done…for now.(Franken moment, sort of.)
There are things that needs to be changed and worked on. Mike Thompson wrote me back saying similar BS why things can’t be as also my senators said.. But Boxers “actions” speech for the people. But I will be writing him back. I will say more later. But I am falling asleep :yawn:and can barely type so…
I will write more later. Strategize and Action:wink:
G’Day G’Night to One and All 🙂
And THX  Farmerkat, fred, and pjsauter

Bye 😉
That’s interesting, Fred. I’m sure it’ll have all the Macsters foaming at the mouth. I know there was always a big dispute of benchmarks, because Apple would run Macoptimized benchmarks on their stuff, and of course the Wintel folks would do the same. Heavy-duty gamers are into the overclocking and all that, and I don’t know how easy Apple makes that kinda thing. Plus the cooling in some of those Macs is pretty fussy (especially the little gumball ones and the white ones with the round base and attached flat screens – have to excuse me, I’m not up on all the names). I know I can tweak the hell out of my mobo, and it even has an “emergency” bios chip, in case I render the thing unbootable.
Well, if you grew up near Stanford, you should be proud of the Augmentation of Human Intellect project, ‘cuz they had a mouse-driven cursor and multiple windows back in the 1960’s. A lot of those folks went over to Xerox at the Palo Alto Research Center, and invented the Alto and the Xerox “Star,” which had WIMP (windows, icons, menus and pointers).
Give Jef Raskin and Steve Jobs credit for seeing it and recognizing the value of it, though. Take a little credit back for crying like babies and trying to sue Bill Gates (not that I have any real affinity for him) for stealing the “look and feel” of the Apple OS. They should have licensed it instead of trying to keep it all proprietary (IMHO). If Apple had allowed clones the way IBM did, things would be a lot different.
Now, OS/2, there was an OS.
Yeah, you have to have it imported, ‘cuz they don’t make ’em here. Over in the UK, they go about £7,000 (and higher, of course), which is around $12,500 US. At $3 a gallon (and climbing), that’s a few bucks more in the old monthly car payment.
Now that Randi has bounced her boobies, what better way to kick off the weekend than with a little thing we like to call

Stop playing that lame parody of that played out beatle song, Randi.:omg:
Who would not like to get hit on by CRUELLA?:rofl2:
What happened to gypsy? Does she now listen to O’Hannitty and O’Reilly? Hey! It happens.
:rofl2:
Looks liek Gypsy hangs out over at TMMS blog exclusively. 🙁
You cannot build an antiwar movement by appealing to warmongers, demobilizing the movement to get warmongers elected and then telling people that the best thing they can do is to stay at home and let those same warmongers in Congress sort it out.
Build the anti-war movement.

Randi quoting Marc! 😀
Randi just gave Maron a plug. Re: LOTD joke about Bush’s popularity.:rofl2:
The policy of “hitnatkut”, or unilateral disengagement, developed by Ariel Sharon needed a swift facelift following the withdrawal of settlers from Gaza last year. And Israel’s prime minister-designate, Ehud Olmert, has found it in the related concept of “hitkansut”, variously translated as “convergence”, “consolidation” and “ingathering”.
:omg:
I love what Randi did last night on Paula Zahn. Paula said what are your callers saying about the Duke Rape case and she said they aren’t paying attention they’re talking about the bomb the government is going to explode! :peace:

We know that according to the International Court of Justice, even threatening to use nuclear weapons is a violation of international law — and the Bush administration is threatening to use nuclear “bunker-buster” bombs to attack Iran. We don’t hear much about it, but we know the National Academy of Sciences has found that “the use of such a weapon would create massive clouds of radioactive fallout that could spread far from the site of the attack, including to other nations. Even if used in remote, lightly populated areas, the number of casualties could range up to more than a hundred thousand…”

Iran tensions threaten Treasuries as safe haven
Fri Apr 21, 2006 9:40am ET
NEW YORK (Reuters) – Rising international tensions over Iran’s nuclear program could undermine the traditional status of U.S. government bonds as a safe-haven asset but in the longer term, a crisis could benefit Treasury prices.
In times of high-stakes diplomatic poker or military confrontations, Treasury debt usually captures a strong bid as investors look for places to shelter their money. Treasuries fit the bill because they are so liquid and denominated in dollars, the world’s premier reserve currency.
But the Iran nuclear crisis, if it escalates, could give many investors pause because of the heavy investments of Middle Eastern central banks in U.S. government debt. A conflict with Iran could trigger a shift in those investment patterns. If central banks buy fewer Treasuries or stop buying them altogether, prices would tumble, something a safe-haven investor would hope to avoid at all costs.
The United States, as the world’s biggest crude oil importer, is particularly vulnerable to rising crude prices filtering into the cost of gasoline and other products directly borne by consumers. Inflation erodes the value of fixed-income assets over time. Long-dated Treasuries, such as the 10-year note and 30-year bond, are particularly vulnerable to inflationary pressures.

Well, it’s an odd thing to have to rely on the military establishment to prevent dummy from throwing nukes around, but that’s what’s gonna have to happen. I kinda sorta don’t think dicky and dummy care about the ICJ, or anybody else.

Former Van Halen singer David Lee Roth poses for …
NEW YORK – Well, that didn’t take long. Rocker-turned-radio host David Lee Roth, who accepted the no-win task of replacing ratings king Howard Stern in January, was bounced from the airwaves Friday after barely three months on the air in New York, Philadelphia, Boston and four other markets.
“I was booted, tossed, and it’s going to cost somebody,” Roth said on his last show, intimating that his lawyers would go after CBS Radio for the full compensation due from his reported $4 million contract. The timing of the move was interesting: It arrived just days before the Roth show’s first Arbitron numbers…

Gotta get off of my ass and go!:omg:
oh my god the music from the smart cars site is very good i could sleep very well with it playing
so i was bored and had no internet last night and didnt feel like playing my boxing game so this horrible example of writing was born!
I walked into Tracy’s Diner in downtown Great Falls. Tracy’s Diner is the kind of diner you would expect to see in Montana except for the jukebox that seemed curiously out of place there. I sat at the counter picked up a menu and placed my order. I asked “what kind of soup do you have?” she replied. “cream of tomato soup” I was ok with this so I ordered it then I ordered some beef noodles and a chocolate shake to wash it all down. I asked about the bathroom and went to do my business. On my way back to my place at the counter I stopped off at the jukebox to see what it contained. Lots of country music Travis Tritt, Alan Jackson just the kind of stuff I try to avoid but I kept turning the pages and found the hidden treasures here in this old jukebox in this old diner in Montana. It was a quarter for two songs the first I found that made me smile on the inside was Eric Clapton’s version of Cocaine. The second song I played was should I stay or should I go performed by the clash. I went back to my seat as the soothing sound of Clapton started to vibrate out of the ancient speakers. The soup and the shake were there waiting. I immediately crumpled up some crackers and put them in the tomato soup and began to eat it. To my surprise there were actually chunks of tomato in it. You would never get that back in the east unless you were at an expensive restaurant. Then my beef noodles came and I ate them they were ok nothing to write about though. I finished my shake ordered an apple juice to go paid my bill and left never to return to Tracy’s Diner.
Mothers of Florida, lock up your sons.
omg! I love her professional pose! Too funny, Kev.
also love randi’s response to Zahn – touche! (can’t understand why the national news folks keep talking about that local topic).
yeah i just watched the randi on zahn thing on the youtube and randi kicked everybodies ass so unlike her radio show she stayed calmer and just killed em with the truth! yep yep
travels with Sean 😎
hmmmm im gonna be in pensacola soon maybe i can get me some cruella!
Sean’s adventures in trucking 😆
What nothing about the brown haired big eyed cutie that you met ??
Katherine Harris, ewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Nobody uglier except maybe…who is that Ohio congresswoman, anyone know who I’m talking about? The one who got on Jack Murtha’s case? Another ewwwwwwwwwwww.
I want something chocolate, be right back
wish the youtube video wouldn’t break up so much – can’t watch the video.
but would you WANT the cruella? think of the disease.
:paranoid:dude are you following me? how did you know about that?
mean jean schmidt
well its been a while………
I was told by “reliable sources” that all truckers had one of those. Railroaders never get one because of there call schedule so they are jealous of truckers.
mean jean schmidt
Yes, that’s her, Farmerkat, thank you 🙂 Now why is it that there are rumors that conservative women are better looking than liberal women? Me thinks it’s just another doublespeak spin…these biotches look plenty fugly to me
shoot im too busy between here and my video games and movies and whatnot
Conservative women are only good looking when you look in their purse at their pocket book
hey i dont think cruella is bad looking especially for her age and uh laura ingrahm is good looking from the billboard picture i saw of her!
Money can buy good plastic surgeons.. Wasn’t it laura ingrahm that had breast cancer ??. Not to be too cruel but she might be lacking if you know what I mean.
Recent pictures of her that I googled just now make her look more decent, in all the old pics I remember she looked truly frightening because of ill-informed and tacky use of makeup. Maybe there has been some plastic surgery lately, hmmm.
Hey, I’m as visually-oriented as the next guy, but no matter how good a woman looks (and Laura Ingraham is a looker), if there’s bullshit inside the package, I can’t deal.
Besides, as a resident of Florida during the 2000 election, I’ve already been seriously fucked by Katherine Harris. And no, it was NOT good for me. :barf:
Give me Katrina vanden Heuvel or Maria Cantwell any day. :hubba:
Or maybe Katrina vanden Heuvel AND Maria Cantwell. Hmmmmmm…
:jerk:
Now you are talking Kevin.. I like the AND idea how about if we AND in Naomi Klein too.
oh yeah naomi mmm hmmm yep i love me some naomi!
katherine harris has nice fake boobies!
Yeah looks like fake 44D’s why do women want to look like they might say Mooo at any moment.
maybe because so many guys want to milk some cows?
well we need milk for our :cake:
Uh, um , hmmm…Yeah. OK. This is one of the pictures I got when I through down Katherine Harrison
100!:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
lol yep looks just like her except its before the boob job!
ok well im out later everybody! must get down to colorado springs!
Later, man. :fist:
hey everyone
Hey, Melina.
Did you all watch Oprah today? Reich was on there talking about the socio-economic “ladder” stretching, making the middle class shrink, while the poor and rich grow.:growl: Makes me feel sick:barf:
Hi all :knit:
Druid- you have my seepest sympathy on your rat. I know how much those little guys mean to you:love:
You gave them a beautiful life and loads of love.
Today I drove all over the place and did a bit of a gas scan….In my neighborhood gas is 3.19…in Norwalk its 2.99 to 3.09….Up in Wilton its in the very low 3’s….and over on the west side of my town which is less fancy, at Citgo, its only 2.94!!
I expect to see 4.00 here….
Mibil and Exxon have the highest prices and citgo and BP seem to have the lowest….
This is all artificially inflated. The producers inflate and the corporations really inflate and the gas station owners and the consumers take the hit.
What a scam…
Its sorta like Bush;s tax plan.
As much as I love to watch them squirm, Im losing my sense of humor about things…and am very worried about China and Russia.
Been out of the MS scene too long, had to check in again. Cool knitting emoticons, PJ (not that I knit or anything, I just like new e-cons). I’m catching up on some Maron audio clips, listening to Marc argue with Lawton as I write this – so great!).
😀
Well than God Oprah is doing some of this…she did alot for Katrina as far as publicizing what it looked like and demanding to get into the stadium before they cleaned it…but she really needs to jump into the political thing.
She could probably run for president, come to think of it!…
No I missed it Trav. I was out all day and when I finished I didnt want to come home and deal with Will and no Tweet (but wonderful dogs, I must say,)
So, I messed around and looked at Walmart and petsmart and all those stores in Norwalk that I never go to. I also went to an estate sale….
It was sort of maudlin to see the entire contents of someones life, including family pictures, for sale in their own house….
G’Day All, I have been wurkin’ and lurkin’ and writing a political letter (again) after calling my Senators and Representatives, regarding Dr. Justin Frank (author of Bush on the couch):!:

Hey, what the hell happened? There were, like, 6 of you sheeple but now only 2. And where’s Kahn, man?
Well, my news hours have started so I’ll blog ya in a bit or maybe during the commercials or something.
Nope, don’t have comedy central. Sorry, Ex.:fist:
Nobody else posting now, is everyone gone? Ok, I gotta go too. Now that I’ve listened to most of the clips, I’m satisfied (that one with the guy from Hustler was tres racy). Sorry I can’t stay up late enough to listen, hope he gets syndicated soon!
Marc, I mean. Syndicated. So quake radio in SF will carry it a time I can listen (yes, I have written and called).
‘Night Travis and all :alc:
ex-ny’er, I have even heard many similar theifs of Marc’s “funny”. I thought I must be crazy but hearing your tale makes me want/need to even write Jon Crimmings and Mark Riley since they are doing the exact “bloody” game. And I liked them but any in AAR f&*#@%g paraphrasing (ie stealing) I can not endure.
But first have to deal with “Bush On The Couch” by Dr. J Frank and why no one has kicked rethugs (:fist:) :spank: YET? (writing on the wing, so sorry for any error) 😉 Be Well.

OK…well, still fighting with this old laptop but…OK, its online if somewhat touchy.
Wow, did Jon Stewart really do Future-Jon?…that would be so horrible…though maybe the original idea came from one of the writers from the Daily Show was the originator of it and it got recycled to Jon…meaning that Jon is doing recycled material…?
I found the whole thing with the porn/hustler guy to be way too much information for me. I really dont want to know about how much Marc jerks off or how obsessed he is with it. To say it once in a while is, I guess, Ok (because he does tend to mention it)…but over and over was a little much for me…
I just sometimes find him to be over the top with his sexual fixation and his worry about Mishna cheating on him …
But then, thats whats running round his mind, I guess, so you take the good with the bad….

Can anyone tell me what exactly is Janeane’s beef with Guy DeBord is?
I mean, no one should be above reproach, but how can she relate DeBord’s thought with that of Leo Strauss? Is there an article I should read?
I hope your not being patronizing, Nicki:spank:

It’s raining here in Birmingham . . . again! At least nothing like the last few days. Thankfully, no tornado warnings.
Last night or was it the night before . . . I posted remarks in regard to my missing boyfriend and wondered out loud if I actually had a boyfriend cause I hadn’t heard from him in some time. Well he sent me a message today. Here are his words:
“One document for new working visa is still not yet. I am still waiting. Therefore, I have not yet got new visa. I will miss the returning flight soon. (I have to
buy new ticket, maybe.) My job may stop paying my salary. Without working visa, I can not enter your country, because I am working in the US now.”
So at least I know what’s going on now and can stop worrying except for the fact that I may never see my boyfriend again if he can’t get his visa. This has probably got something to do with Karl Rove. He’s probably mad cause of that scathing letter I wrote to the Whitehouse awhile back. I’m sure I’m on his enemies list now and so he’s probably telling the Japanise authorities (or whomever) to toss a fly in my boyfriends ointment (sp?) so he can’t return to the states! I’m telling you . . . their assholes capable of doing any number of evil things. Just look what they’ve done to our country . . . fucked it up! So I’m inclined to believe that Bush is indeed the WORST President in history! I surfed over to a site and purchased “W the Worst” stickers. I’m planning on putting next to my “F the President” sticker. I hope that really pisses off these Bush fans.
I’m resisting the urge to prowl around. Watched the last episode of HBO’s “Soprano’s” yesterday on my DVR. I just would like to say that not all us gay guys are ashamed of who we are and I don’t know any gay men who want to dress up like the Village People. Another gay stereotype! I’m not a limp wristed faggot. I know some to be sure. But we’re not all like that. Besides, I’ve met some very feminine men only to find they are 100% straight. I understand Vennie’s (I think that is his name) delimma (sp?) damn I can’t spell. Perhaps Tony won’t hunt him down and kill him just because he’s gay. I wonder if we should lose the 06 and 08 elections to the Republicans if our country will be so tolerant then? If even the Democrats and Progressives will turn on gays. I just hope if that be the case I’m dead by then. That kind of world is not the place I want to live in.
Waiting for Marc’s show tonight. Like not having to worry with Clipper games interrupting the best parts of Marc’s show. I plan on doing my own podcast soon. Working on a character to play a progressive talk show host ranting and raising a little bit of hell against narrow-minded ppl. Have a good night ppl. Sorry to just go on and on.
Hey, Thomas. I haven’t read the post yet, but I thought I’d through down a word or two before I do. Didn’t you mention getting a vlog or something? It’d be cool to see what’s going down in the Ham.
Birmingham, that is:40:
Anybody listening to Malloy’s slighly warped analysis of the relationship between the US and Israel?
My guess is that Tony will allow Vito back; he was the best Capo. Tony will put the word out that what Vito does after work hours is no one’s business but Vito’s. Tony is becoming enlightened.
vlog?
Malloy! You don’t know shit! Israel is utterly dependent on the US. If the US withdraws support, Israel is doomed.
Yeah, man, video blog:doh:
Vito . . . yes Vito. I donno why I thought Vinnie. Where did I get that name? Anyway. I did add a movie page to my site. And YES I plan to upload some movies too. If that’s what you were meaning Travis. BTW, my Federal refund showed up in my account this afternoon! Whoopie! It’s so hard knowing I could buy a Macbook Pro or a Plasma TV. But alas . . . I guess I really do need to pay off some of this credit card debt I’ve accumulated. Damnit!
Discuss the US shielding Israel from sanctions with the Security Council veto, Malloy.
I downloaded this software from “Pirate radio” that allows one to broadcast over the internet. I thought about doing my own radio show. So I was driving down Highway 280E to Phenix City this morning testing out a progressive talk show host’s voice. I was ranting and raising hell to myself. I hope no one saw me. They’d probably think me cRaZy or something. So I managed to get this voice out of me sort of on the order of Rush Limbough and Big Eddie. Sort of a cross between the two. But I held nothing back using the “F” word and saying “GD this and GD that.” It was fun let me tell you. Got a lot of pent up rage out. It helps sometime to just “blow up” and say what you think. Goddamn Christians! Goddamn Republicans! Their ruining this country. N e way. I know there are good Christians out there. But why would anyone still be waiting . . . after two thousand years . . . for JC to return? Go figure.
So far I haven’t been able to figure this “Pirate radio” broadcaster out. Setting the damn thing up is a nightmare! I think you must have a static IP and I don’t have that so maybe I’m SOL? If so, I’ll just do podcasts of my raving maniac Progressive talk show host. I think it would be fun just to let loose and tell everyone to go fuck themselves! I’m really a nice guy. But there is this demon inside me that just wants to strike back at the world for all the SHIT they’ve tossed at my feet. Okay . . . so I don’t wanna get married to a guy. At least not now. But I think if I wanted to. Then why should I not have that option? Who the hell is harmed by that? Huh? And if some Goddamned Christian Minister doesn’t want to marry two men or two women, so . . . there are “Justices of the Peace” . . . aren’t there?
These ppl worry about the santity of marriage. So I say if their gonna pass an amendment to the Constitution banning same-sex marrage. Then they ought to pass one banning divorce! What about them wedding vows? Huh? Till death do you part? For better or for worse? Just put up with his sorry ass . . . you’ll get your re-ward in the hereafter! I mean what is the point in waiting two thousand fucking years for JC to return if you don’t get something out of it for putting up with all this bullshit? Huh?
Well its 11:18 P.M. (Central time) here in Birmingham, Alabama and Mar’c show is less than an hour away. So I’ve gotta make sure everything is set to record the show. Hope you guys have a great weekend. I guess your all over at Marc’s page now or to afraid to blog since I showed up. Be cool, peace and much love to you all. Laters.
Janeane’s got a ‘beef’ with Guy DeBord? The Guy DeBord of The Situationists International, and she likens him to Leo Strauss?? DeBord was what I would call an anarcho-dadaist. I can’t claim to have read all of The Situationist International, but I’d be curious to know on what basis she likens them. I’m listening to the West Coast rebroadcast right now, don’t know if I missed that segment (and I’m debating whether to tune in to Malloy live right now instead on the computer). I liked a couple of the essays from the SI back in the 80’s, of the essays that made sense to me. But reading them now, they come off self indulgent and naive, although there is one that will always remain classic to me, about the mental geography of city life (awkward, but the best way I can explain it succinctly). From the only thing I’ve read about Strauss (a long New Yorker article a year or so ago), I glean that he believed that a small sector of capitalist elite must rule over the dumb masses (paraphrasing what I think the article said he believed). PR and media manipulation (a la Frank Lunz) was a crucial component. I’ll be interested to hear how Janeane compares DeBord and Strauss, if I haven’t missed it yet.
Current users online = 3; hmm, guess I’ll skedadle outa here, then. Sipping white tea from my brand new clay teapot from Chinatown…oooh ahhh :joe: (PJ, any chance of getting an emoticon of a classy looking little teapot pouring into a cup?). Hey, tea does taste better out of those tiny clay cups they give you with the clay pot. A new generation of free tea tasting shops are springing up all over San Francisco. How do they make money, you might ask? By getting you so buzzed on a slew of fantastic teas, you can’t leave without buying a stash to being home.
“TEAAAAA!! I said TEAAAA! Where’ve you been to for it, to Ceylon??”
(any Blackadder fans here?) :joe::joe:
I remember Kate Moss in a Black Adder episode.:omg:
Kate Moss in a BA episode? I don’t remember that. What character did she play?
Janeane was making connections between the apparent elitist quality that both DeBord and Strauss had. She said something like both thinkers holding that only a select few “get it”. I’m sure that that is the case with Strauss, but DeBord called for the working class to take over their workplaces, organize collectively, and smash the rule of capital. Smash the spectacle as mediator. Live authentically. Perhaps Janeane, petty bourgeois that she is, feels uncomfortable at such a notion. (I don’t know.)
Is Maron on now? If so, somebody post me a link.
grrrr hockey game….
wait, it’s ending
Ok, that makes sense to me, Nicki, what you say about how Janeane compares them. It’s an odd comparison, doesn’t bear scrutiny. Did DeBord write about the working class taking power in The Situationist International, or somewhere else?
Ok, I’m falling asleep, I’ll have to sign off. Thanks all, and goodnight.
I hope they go to Marc’s show after this commerical, or else I have to listen to the game wrap up 🙁 I set the alarm to wake me up for Marc…:rant1:

DeBord wrote of such things throughout his career. His thought was similar to the Council Communists. Peopls spontaneously uprising and taking power collectively. Read Orwell’s book about the Spanish Civil War, “Passage to Catalonia” for a glimpse of this sort of thing. Jeremy Brecher’s “Strike” is good too.
More…:omg:
I am unable to link to the station to “listen live”.
Hell with you all!

”Council communism”’ is a [[Radical Left]] movement originating in [[Germany]] and the [[Netherlands]] in the [[1920s]]. Its primary organisation was the [[Communist Workers Party of Germany]] (KAPD). Council communism continues today as a theoretical and activist position within [[Marxism]], within [[Libertarian Socialism]], and within [[Anarchism]]. The central argument of Council Communism, in contrast to those of [[Social democracy]] and [[Leninism|Leninist]] [[communism]], is that [[workers’ councils]] arising in the factories and municipalities are the natural form of working class organisation and state power. This view is opposed to the [[Reformist]] and [[Bolshevik]] stress on [[vanguard party|vanguard parties]], [[parliament]]s or [[government]]s.
The core principle of council communism is that the [[State]] and the [[Economic system|economy]] should be managed by [[workers’ councils]] composed of delegates elected at workplaces and [[recall]]able at any moment. As such, council communists oppose state-run “bureaucratic socialism”. They also oppose the idea of a “revolutionary party”, since council communists believe that a revolution led by a party will necessarily produce a party dictatorship. Council communists support a workers’ democracy, which they want to produce through a federation of workers’ councils.
