Hey, it is Monday, right? I can’t remember anymore. Not much sleep the last few days, and for an old fart like me, that aint easy. I haven’t had much chance to look at the blog, but I did catcha couple of things that I’ll try and address here. First, yeah, there was trackback spam. I got rid of it, and for now have disabled trackbacks (if somebody links to a post or comment, it creates a comment with a link to the orginating page, so you can see what they wrote about it). What else? Um, no no fun for Siggy the last few days, either, and not much fun in his short-term future. I guess it’s good practice for him, as I’ll be gone for the summer before you know it. Cnick, I think you might wanna get to know Linux a little better before you try for the triple boot, but if you don’t mind risking having to restore your computer, go for it. It doesn’t sound all that hard, but having never tried what they’re sayign, I can’t guarantee it’ll work. Worst that can happen is you wipe out your partition and have to redo everything. So, assuming you know how to do that, and want to mess with it, I guess you can give it a go. Too bad bootcamp can’t play nice with LILO. I”d much prefer NTFS to FAT32, too. Nicki, sounds like you’re having javascript troubles.
OK, that’s all I can manage for now. Have a good Monday, y’all. Clippers game tonight at 7:30 PDT.
Morning Seditionists! First? PJ thank you for the advice. It’s officially “Confederates memorial day” (yeah you heard me) “Confederates memorial day” here in the state of Alabama, the heart of Dixie, the home state of Judge Roy Moore, the state where God (if there is one) saw fit to have me born to a God-fearing straight mother and father. How I turned out this way is anyone’s guess! Have a great day ppl.

I know I’m a virtual stranger here but can I just say: I MISS MARC IN THE MORNING! SO bad. Air America totally ruined a good thing when they changed Morning Sedition. Damn them…DAMN them, I say! :growl:
Good morning everyone ๐ Welcome, Becky…I miss Morning Sedition too, (big time!) but I’m glad that I can hear Marc again… I remember it wasn’t so long ago that I thought I’d never hear him on radio again.
congrats to cnick on being first :joe::jesus:
My question to the traitor Goldberg is:
Now that David Lee Roth has been kicked to the curb, how FUCKING STUPID do you feel for pulling the plug on MS? Marc and Mark could be tag-teaming Opie and Anthony for NY market dominance.
Dumb-ass.:fustrate:
Hey Becky, don’t be such a stranger. We miss you. Be strange instead.
Thank goodness, Cnick, that there are progressives like you in Alabama… no place is totally “red.” I have liberal friends in Georgia and “deep in the heart of Texas.” Everywhere in this country there are some people who understand what the deal is.
I wonder what the AA morning show ratings are like as compared to how the Morning Sedition ratings were. I know MS was poorly marketed and did not reach its rating potential, but I find it hard to believe that what’s airing now is doing any better… good morning, Kevin
Howdy, Kevin! Good point about MS.
And I am strange, dude. Rest assured…. Gotta go to jury selection today so I’m gonna try to look as strange as I can….
good morning sheeple!
another week and Ive had a migrane thing in my eyes all night and it continues…maybe due to the pollen popping and the rain?
We all seem to have it.
Ive got the Scooba doing overtime and I guess I may have to get a new air cleaner. My old one broke at the end of last summer.
Any ideas on which is best at this point?
5 dogs and a bird or two plus the heavy yellow tree pollen thats just starting to fall…ugh!
My Hunter Air Cleaner has been doing its thing for nigh on 7+ years. I just clean it and change the filter about every 6 months.

I especially loved the snow shots, it reminded me of my mountain snow … save we had nobody around us so no lights..only forests. I saw the Hale-Bop Comet and did some oil pastel drawings and one that even had a very firey, large and very long lasting shooting meteorite descending somewhat near the Comet. Farmerkat thx regarding Asta  and thank for your well wishes for my hubby and I, but me darlin’ FK, you are/had experienced and endured what most people haven’t ever. Yeh, most are not away from mate for the periods of time — thus we share that, but then your endurance goes far beyond that. So thank you in teaching one like me to endure time.:love:
Huh? What did Rachel say exactly?
Well, the ratings were going up when Goldfuck pulled the plug. MS didnt have the huge ratings of the top 3 or 4 networks but it was doing very well in the lower tier. How Goldmember could ever think that he might break through to that elite top rung with Riley and then Rachel is just…beyond me…
But to cancel the show and go on vacation on the day that Howard Stern released some 9 million fans to decide if they want to pay for Sirius or find somehting else to listen to was just insane….
And now we find that some 6 million of those people didnt follow Stern and have been looking for where to land…and I doubt its been on Riley’s show…or Rachel for that matter.
The best thing the new management (as new as it might be) could do is to try to backtrack and at least try to put on some sort of morning show that works.
Even my Mom wont listen to Riley, and she listens to everything!
Druid, I hope youre feeling a bit better about Karma….its just so hard.
Im looking at all the little baby birds that they just brought into the parrot store and I still miss Tweet so much that I dont have much feeling about it. I guess I will start holding them and one will stand out to me….
Isi- thnks for the tip. I think they carry those at HOme Depot….I know I have a couple of HUnter ceiling fans.
My last one lived for aroudn 4 or 5 years but was a surgical grade one that had very expensive filters. I was never all that sure if it was moving the air enough. I may get 2 smaller ones this time.
ZNet | Israel/Palestine
Sumud vs. Apartheid
by Jeff Halper; April 23, 2006
This is, as they say, the crunch. This is the political moment all Israeli governments – all of them, Labour, Likud and ‘National Unity’ – have been working towards the past four decades of Occupation: the final push for an expanded Israel, the permanent foreclosure of any viable Palestinian state and a unilateral declaration that the conflict with the Palestinians is over. Indeed, it is the final taking of the entire Land of Israel between the Mediterranean and the Jordan River that Zionism has dreamed of for the past century.
On the surface, Israel’s election was humdrum, with none of the 31 parties running raising issues that grabbed the public. No party emerged ‘victorious’ or in a position of domination. The largest party in the Parliament, Kadima, Sharon’s party now run by Olmert, received only 29 seats out of 120. Overall, the election saw the strengthening of the Right, even the extreme right (I don’t accept the notion that Kadima of Sharon and Olmert is a ‘Center’ party; it’s extreme right-wing, only slicker) i.e. those parties that refuse to even consider the notion of a viable Palestinian state, won 73 seats. The number of left/liberal seats stands only at 30.
Humdrum sums up how the Israeli public viewed the election. The only substantial issue raised was that of the plight of poor and working class Israelis, and that issue failed to ignite any popular enthusiasm. Yet it is precisely this ‘hum-drum-ness’ that is the big news. Ehud Olmert put his intentions right in the public’s face: the most immediate and pressing task of his new government will be to determine the permanent borders of Israel, meaning that the massive settlement blocs, the ‘greater’ Jerusalem area and the Jordan Valley will be annexed to Israel, confining the Palestinians to some five isolated, impoverished and non-viable cantons (Sharon’s term) that they will be expected to accept as their ‘state’.
The people at AAR need to make sure that if the thugs win the election this year that all their listeners are ready with wine bottles and rags, assault rifles, hunting rifles, or anything they can concoct in the lab in their basement to make sure the thugs never get to take office in January.. With this being the only media that will tell you whats wrong but never propose a real solution it is beginning to suck.
I love Asta dogs…
You KNow, Grandpa leased the Thin Man way back when and did the radio thing before the TV show…I believe it was before….I have to ask him about that and where the scripts are. He had a really good sense for good writing that would work. I wish they had saved those shows but I think that tape had metal in it and the war was on or something….
Phil Stanford, Tyger Thom. Stanford used to have a local talk radio show.
Well, Fred, I think that having that extreme of a position would definitley make AAR the fringey fringe of broadcasting and less viable as a voice for the left….and I cant remember an insurgency that was announced on the radio….
I think its best to just keep pointing out the truth as a news outlet with a bit of commentary.
I’ll bet that Goldbrick factored cost into his decision to kill Morning Sedition. He figured that it would be much cheaper to replace mat&Mark with Air America Mornings.
Hartmann is peddling Purina Cat Food. :rofl2:
It was Spanish speaking radio outlets that got most of those Immigrants into the streets.. Since AAR is the only outlet for the left that broadcasts over the air they should be willing to do the same. The threat of being lynched is a much more potent threat to a thug than an election will ever be.
http://www.zmag.org/content/print_article.cfm?itemID=10150§ionID=107
[W]e Palestinians will not submit. We will not cooperate. We will not play your rigged game. And in the end your power will be for naught. So costly will we make this conflict to Israel, the US and the international community that you will come to us to sue for peace.
cheap in the sort run but really costly over the long run…and not only for the network but for the culture and for liberal causes, that goldfrick claims to care so much about…and now he continues to take a salary that he doesnt need rather than just taking stock options or something and withdrawing to whatever hole he crawled out of….
Melina, thank you…I keep thinking with :rofl2: of your birds on you shoulder/neck and my rat on my shoulder/neck. Death is a part of life…but it still hurts. CEO’s must learn in business school that the most expedient thing to do is that which leads to the most profit in the shortest time. Radio typically takes two to three years from start up to seeing what their ratings really are. Goldenturd seems to think he is Google not radio.

The other thought is that the left sided radio is mimicking right wing radio so 90% of what they tell you is BS. Most people on the left can read so we know its not.. There has to be some dividing line between politics and criminal behaviour. I would think starting a war without a legitimate reason is criminal( I believe it is a war crime) and those keeping justice from happening are complicit.
David Bender,Rachel, Riley and Springer seem to think its politics as usual maybe they are complicit too.
fred, Again as (mostly) usual I agree with you. I feel if the rethugs do not do what is Right they should be put on probation for 3 years for not protecting America and us citizens!
I feel AAR has been repeating the issues enough — the masses finally are getting “it”. So AAR should move to directing National protests and actions — since they have The Voice (ie microphone) and most of us do not.

I think one of the problems we have is that there are a few of us that listen religiously to AAR and know all about the fact the US is a M*F*er but over the last 30years or so we have leaned to solve these problems by sicking the justice dept on the offenders or by elections. Neither of these things work in today’s political frame work..but we have a choice of intellectualizing it or getting our hands bloody.. So far we have taken the intellectual approach and although we feel community it is not solving the problem. I’m sure Germany had people just like us in 1942 who were still intellectualizing the situation the day before the Allied air-forces blew Dresden off the face of the earth. If Putin and/or HU decide that they have had enough and feel that our military has been weakened to the point where they can risk the retaliation or can get here undetected it will make Dresden look pale by comparison.
The torrent for Fridays show is up at

fred, I think there are a few of us that knew and saw what was happening WAYYYYYYYY before AAR. AAR was to “awaken” the many.
The protests of yesteryear are not able to happen since they now call “every protester” a terrorist.(rethugs:growl:)
And even many that want to do something back they are “forced” to NOT MOVE and have to work, That’s why I hope for AAR to DO MORE than just weak jokes.
I led groups down south, but now we only have hope for this ’06 election. But I do not trust Dieboldt (sp whatever) … they are forcing dominance even in CA.
We locally are calling for monitors and counters to head count, even if votes go in DIE’s machines. Although I am working on it — I do not believe in an honest vote anywhere. Great, up here will hope to have a check, yet, what of Ohio and Florida and other…
So lies are happening … and yet NO ACTION against the lies are occuring.

Buffalo, NYโToday, Congressman Brian Higgins sent a letter to New York Governor George Pataki and New York Department of Transportation Acting Commissioner Thomas Madison, calling on them to depart from their pattern of inaction with regard to Buffalo’s waterfront and to make the commitment to infrastructure improvements which will allow private development to proceed. Higgins wrote that the lack of interest the Pataki administration has displayed with regard to waterfront development has placed in jeopardy $350 million in private sector investment by Opus-Uniland along Buffaloโs Outer Harbor.
โThe failure of the Pataki administration to make a firm commitment for infrastructure improvements at our Outer Harbor is unacceptable,โ said Higgins. โThey know how to talk a good game about waterfront development in Buffalo, but deliver little in the way of tangible improvements. This administration’s pattern of broken promises has left Buffaloโs waterfront broken, and without swift corrective action, that will be a sad legacy for the Governor. It is my sincere hope that the Governor will depart from his administration’s pattern of inaction with regard to Buffalo’s waterfront and make the commitment to these infrastructure improvements which will allow private development to proceed. This administration cannot continue to fiddle while Rome burns; our waterfront has suffered for 50 years, and cannot wait one more day.โ
Opus-Uniland has been jointly selected by the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) as the preferred developer for the Outer Harbor property, which has lain dormant for some 50 years. Opus-Uniland is prepared to make a $350 million investment in private funds in Buffaloโs Outer Harbor waterfront. This group has asked of the Pataki administration for a firm commitment for needed transportation infrastructure improvements at the Outer Harbor, namely for the construction of two new intersections and needed improvements to Fuhrmann Boulevard. To date, no commitment to meet the two objectives has been made and the Pataki administration has failed to list any Outer Harbor infrastructure improvements among those projects slated for funding in the Transportation Bond Act, which goes before the stateโs voters in less than two weeks.

Obama’s Game
By ALEXANDER COCKBURN
I was harsh about Senator Barack Obama of Illinois here a couple of weeks ago, and the very next morning his press aide, Tommy Vietor, was on the phone howling about inaccuracies. It was an illuminating conversation, indicative of the sort of instinctive reflexes at work in the office of a man already breathlessly touted as a possible vice presidential candidate in 2008 and maybe a presidential candidate somewhere down the road from there.
Obama’s man took grave exception to my use of the word “distanced” to describe what his boss had done when Illinois’ senior U.S. senator, Dick Durbin, got into trouble for likening conditions at Guantanamo to those in a Nazi or Stalin-era camp. This was one of Durbin’s finer moments, as he read an FBI man’s eyewitness describing how he had entered interview rooms “to find a detainee chained hand and foot in a fetal position to the floor, with no chair, food or water. Most times they urinated or defecated on themselves, and had been left there for 18-24 hours or more.”
“If I read this to you”, Durbin told his fellow senators, “and did not tell you that it was an FBI agent describing what Americans had done to prisoners in their control, you would most certainly believe this must have been done by Nazis, Soviets in their gulags, or some mad regime–Pol Pot or others–that had no concern for human beings. Sadly, that is not the case…
http://www.counterpunch.org
Obama is one of those politicians whom journalists like to decorate with words as “adroit” or “politically adept” because you can actually see him trimming to the wind, the way you see a conjuror of moderate skill shove the rabbit back up his sleeve. Above all he is concerned with the task of reassuring the masters of the Democratic Party, and beyond that, the politico-corporate establishment, that he is safe. Whatever bomb might have been in his head has long since been dis-armed. He’s never going to blow up in the face of anyone of consequence.
AC
Bushco is cornered; Dangerous times ahead
http://www.counterpunch.org/lindorff04242006.html
The counterpunch article sums up the reasons I think the people on the left need to be encouraged to go after the thugs if we don’t regain control of either house in congress this November. People like Karl Rove need to be neatly disposed of. The thugs are no different than the men with guns that ruled many western towns in the last half of the 19th century and the gangs that ruled Chicago in the 1920’s and 1930’s. The thugs need to be treated like they were members of Al Capone’s gang where you substitute oil for Whiskey. The people of Laramie Wyoming finally organized and rousted their bosses out of their beds in the middle of the night, locked them in a box car and shipped them to the middle of Arizona in the middle of the summer. We have many movies concerning the “interaction” between the Feds and the Capone gang.. giving meaning to the descriptor Chicago Piano.
It would certainly be nice if Marc wasn’t on in the middle of the night.
Lee Raymond’s Unconscionable Platinum Parachute
By RALPH NADER
Exxon Mobil reports that it is sending retiring chairman Lee Raymond off with one of the most lavish executive compensation and retirement packages in history–an estimated $398 million in total.
This unconscionable windfall cannot be justified by any serious measure of Raymond’s performance, especially since the company’s record-breaking $36 billion annual profits last year had more to do with the Mobil merger, refinery bottlenecks, politically-driven tax breaks and geopolitical events than it did with managerial effectiveness. . .
:omg:
I am left to asking cliched rhetorical questions.
Why do we allow these corporate obscenities to happen?
How many people would be lifted out of poverty if a fraction of the payout went towards such ends?
Had enough?
:mad:someone else say something bad about my congressman!
Ya Know Nicki: It has occurred to me that the reason Riley’s show is turning into sports radio and Maddow is becoming Stephie light is because there are a lot of people on the left who don’t want to face up the challenges that they have to fix the problems. They would just rather be entertained. Kind of like the reason the band on the Titanic continued to play until the angle of the ship was such that it was no longer possible.. maybe that’s why :bong: and :40: are so popular with people on the left.
Sean: It sounds like your congress person exemplifies the comment that someones Pork is often someone else’s job. Public financing of elections sure would be nice.
did anybody hear my congressman on franken today? ugh i hate my friggin congressman!

n the infancy of the Republic, in 1798, Congress enacted the Alien and Sedition Acts to smear Thomas Jefferson and accuse him of treason. Newspapers were shut down, and their editors arrested, including Benjamin Franklinโs grandson. No wonder Thomas Jefferson himself said: โDissent is the greatest form of patriotism.โ
yeah…good ol’ John Adams who everybody loves now is the author of that horrible act…

Cool an AAR MTV commercial
SeanMS, The AAR commercial made me cry (wishing for hope)…They (AAR) have to go to the next “higher” step. (I haven’t had much sleep for past days — so, although a bitchy positive being, now I am “tres” :growl:)

Oops. Nevermind. I have to go cook something. Later.
Good evening, all. Watched the AAR commercial–good move using LeAnn Rimes (sp?); appeals to the red-staters. Might be my shit speakers, but I couldn’t understand half the words. Otherwise, it’s appealing. Taken from Left of the Dial? Ack! I’d rather see Randi as she appears on Lou Dobbs, than back in the beginning. She was very sick then. She looks great now, very healthy glow, and I’m glad she’s getting some CNN coverage.
Don’t say “fuck” to Air America executives. We have to find a way to fight the right wing without actually offending anybody, or bringing discredit on ourselves.
Ooh, I hope that word “fight” doesn’t sound a little too strident.
Hey Bush is down to FAT 32. If they send the guys out with the butterfly nets, it’ll get knocked down to 24. If they start arresting all the people wanted on KlanWatch and ArianNation, that’s good for another seven. When do we stop talking about impeachment and start talking about resignation for the good of the GOP?
You know, when you get down to it, if you were a far leftist or Islamofascist looking to destroy America, you’ll never, ever get anyone as good as this guy.
I am reading (although I am not the reader I used to be) Paul Revere’s Ride. Nothing extra-special, but I’ve always loved the history of the 1770s. Visited Boston last year, and saw his house. At the time, I felt kinda blase’ about it, but now I’m glad I’ve been there. All the years I visited Massachusetts’ North Shore, every summer, and never got to see the historical sites in Boston. So I did it last year. Went to Lexington and Concord, too. Dropped by my aunt’s in Beverly, showed my husband where I was conceived there, across the bridge from Salem (which explains much about me–BWAAHAAHAAA!).
Am also listening to Audible’s The Distant Mirror by Barbara Tuchman. It’s something I started years and years ago, and never got past the first few chapters. It’s 14th Century European history and chronicles the great changes that happened during that time.
Well Travis, I think you should start a new gamee to keep :growl: folk (like me) super ๐ by guessing which songs someone would pick :rofl2: according to their (feeling) blog(s)…..:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:

You are a sweet pea! Krista. Thanks for the kind words and thank your friend also. So I read on Marc’s blog that tonight is game night. Damnit. So us streamers will only get the last hour of Marc’s show. Hope the word from the higher ups at AAR is to make Marc’s show available on AAR and at a reasonable hour. Live would be good too! This streaming is for the birds! Something is kind of missing from a taped show. Jim Earle really should stop saying the show is “live” during the opening. Kind of misleading. Live to tape isn’t live to air!
So wouldn’t you just know that Apple Computer would tempt me with a new toy! They just announced a 17 inch Mac Book Pro. This baby screams! I want it so much. But I know I cannot justify such a purchase. For God’s sake (if your out there) I already have three computers!!! I’m literally computer poor. I really ought to buy me a dog. A little bitty dog. Reminds me of the old and obscure Monkees song: “I want to buy me a dog.” It was a silly song. But I digress – Where was I? Oh yeah, the 17″ Macbook Pro. As much as I’d like – I don’t think I’ll partake of it or the dog.
I drove over to the Honda dealership this afternoon to look at Hybrids. They make a nice Civic hybrid. But I’ve so much negative equity in my Maxima that I’d have to fork over 10 grand to get into a cheaper Honda. Wonder if Rock Hon-da would make me a better deal? ๐ The cheapest price I found for gas today was $2.78 a gallon. Their saying we’ll all be paying $3.00 a gallon before long. I have to believe that if Al Gore hadn’t been robbed of the 2000 election we’d be further along in alternative fuel sources and we wouldn’t be in Iraq either! It was nice to see Bush has hit a new low in the polls. 32% approval rating. Ha Ha Ha. That son-of-a-bitch. Hopefully he’ll drag down all those criminal Republicans along with him. Oh god, I hope I taped 24!!….I didnt even look at the TV guide…ugh…
Well, good night genius’….I hope you all enjoy the show.
I hope that the new powers realize what theyve got and the mistake goldfrub made…and are going to feature Marc in some great slot, like 10-12, or better, 10-1 am, eastern time…maybe even taped and broadcast live 7-10 Western time….however it works out, I want Jeaneane and Sam to stay on, but ideal, I suppose owuld be to get rid of Jerry and put Marc there….
The possibilities are endless…with my favorite possibility being Al’s spot!
Hope I can get the show tonight. The desktop has been hijacked and I have to get on the phone with tech support somehow…just havent had time.
catch you all in the morning…
say hi to Marc for me;-)
also- cnick- look at consumer reports car issue that is just out or is just last month…the hybrids arent all that they are cracked up to be and maybe more of a PC statement than a real savings or help to the ebviornment.
I got a car that switches between 4 and 8 cynlinders….its a new technology and I dont know if it makes that much of a difference , but it apparently saves up to 20% on gas.
Hybrid id only really good for downtown stop and go driving and the upkeep and extra costs are supposedly $13,000 over the first 5 years….besides the battery. If the battery goes out in the first 5 years they replace it, but its still a big deal if in the 6th or 7th it goes out….They havent got this down enough yet.
I do mostly highway type driving so it turns our that I can drive on 4 cyl. most of the time…but its still nto good enough.
I want to make a corn oil vehicle…got a catalog about it and its really interesting.
So, at some point I will get an old jeep and transform it to a veggie mobile….
Nite…
