Happy Anniversary! Yes, it was five months ago – November 28th, 2005 – when this blog (and the rest of the site) first went online. I don’t know about you, but it seems like a lot longer than five months to me. And what a five months it’s been. If you recall, at the time it was just beginning to sink in that they really were going to kill Morning Sedition (even after the letters, emails, calls, and petitions). There were just three more weeks of shows to go, with only a couple vague hints at the possiblility of new show. And now look – some 40 Marc Maron Shows are “in the can,” and the promise of syndication – or maybe something better – is in the air with the removal of Danny Goldberg. Granted, AAR seemed go out of their way to dick us around with the Maron show, but, looking back, it all happened rather quickly. A lot more quickly than I’d thought it would, five month ago.
And Scooter Libby resigned in disgrace and under indictment, with Karl Rove hopefully not far behind. Tom DeLay isn’t seeking re-election (and hopefully he’ll be joining his pal Duke Cunningham in prison before too long). Snotty Scotty is out, and the White House finally admits that Fox News is just its farm team by calling up Tony Snow. And Impeachment isn’t just a word for crazy people anymore, as dubya’s “approval” ratings are possibly the worst ever, and the debate isn’t about whether Bush is a terrible president, but whether or not he’s the worst president ever.
Of course, not all the news has been good. Things in Iraq just keep getting worse – for every “purple finger moment,” thousands of Iraqi and American live have been shattered. The Senate is now saying that FEMA – trasformed under Bill Clinton from what had been a crony-filled joke into something resembling an efficient model of a government agency – is now, just five years later, so thoroughly destroyed that “we have concluded that FEMA is in shambles and beyond repair, and that it should be abolished.” And, of course, the Democrats continue to turn down the opportunity to energize progressives by running away from Russ Feingold’s resolution to at least censure Bush for breaking the law, and refusing to filibuster yet another lying, right-wing zealot appointed to the Supreme Court.
But, there is definitely hope for the future – much as we, on this side, have learned never to get our hopes up too much. My hope is that, in another six months and 11 days, we’ll be listening to the Marc Maron Show live, at a time when most of us can actually manage to listen without having to call in sick the next morning. Marc and Jim will hopefully be consoling a weepy Lawton Smalls as we wait in anticipation of the installation of the 110th Congress, as soon- to-be House Judiciary Chairman John Conyers vows real investigations into Iraq, NSA spying, 9/11, and more, in anticipation of drawing up articles of impeachment, which, if they don’t lead to conviction, won’t be the fault of the new Junior Senator from Connecticut, Ned Lamont.
Let’s see what happens.
Oh, and Happy Birthday Kevin! :cake:
I am here to hear Riley’s open song. I’ve always liked it and
:cake::banana: H a p p y Day of Birth Kevin :banana::cake:
May there always be a DANCE in your step:banana:
:cake: Second!
Happy b’day Kevin, and happy five month anniversary! Good intro by PJ today, nice little five-month summary.
:banana::banana::cake::sheep::sheep: or happy birthday to you Kevin from a dark L’il Beirut.
So since I didn’t have anything better to do I hung out streaming KTLK there was about 5 minutes of the show :fustrate::fustrate::fustrate::doh::doh::doh::rant1::rant1::rant1:
:gate:Night all.
ok so i was listening to c-span while driving now obviously i dont have the slightest clue what it would actually be but along with the abolishment of fema olympia snowe mentioned a new federal emergency management preparedness thing-a-ma-bob which she said upon creation would answer directly to the monkey in chief now she specifically compared this hypothetical agency to the coast gaurd which is military maybe i am just paranoid but can you be too paranoid anymore? it kinda sounded to me like they would be creating a new military branch that would be in charge of disastrer relief instead of a civilian agency with the national gaurd at its disposal yep i know im just being too paranoid but uh hmmmmmmmm i dont know!
Thanx quietgirl, Druid666, Susan Joy, Wanwenxia.
My first birthday wish came true… I came in to work and no one decorated my desk! Yay! (This place is like a kindergarten when it comes to birthdays and holidays, and I’m not down with it, so not decorating is better than if they had actually decorated.)
My second birthday wish probably won’t come true because both of us would get fired if we did it. George Costanza got fired for doing it on his desk with the cleaning woman, if that helps. :hubba:
Of course, George Costanza isn’t much of a role model, unless you’re Bush.
“It’s not a lie if YOU believe it.”
:barf:
I’ll try to drop back in at noon when my short work day ends. Thanx again, everybody.
:cake:
:cake:hey! happy b-day! yep ive been off the blog dont know nothing about birthdays!
Rachel: Senator Ron Wyden closed down the senate for 5 hours to try to shame the senate out of giveaways to the oil industry. Were they shamed? No, of course not.
‘Russia has left the western orbit’
Missile deals with the ‘axis of evil’ are just the latest sign that Moscow is sick of kowtowing to the US and Europe, writes Tom Parfitt
Thursday April 27, 2006
Moscow could be on the verge of clinching an arms deal with Syria or Iran that would send the US and Israel into pop-eyed rage.
A few days ago a Russian arms manufacturer let slip at an arms fair in Kuala Lumpur that his state-run weapons design bureau was close to sealing a foreign sale of Iskander-E missiles. The destination of the hardware was secret, he said, but the most obvious market is clear: the Middle East.

I wonder what the papers in Germany in like 1940
said about the United States and its relationship to Hitlers Germany. Just before lend lease went into effect.
Pastor Becky Fisher of Jesus Camps wants to create an army full of children who would be prepared to “die for Jesus” the way extremists in other country would die for Islam.” Rachel played a clip of Fisher expressing jealousy of how well suicide bombers in other countries are trained, and how zealous they are. Mike Papantonio: “It’s not God, it’s the word of George Bush.” These are kids who are kept away from public schools. They never develop the ability to think for themselves.
I knew the the religious rightwingers were the mirror image/flip side of extremists on the other side. All subtlety is gone when you examine this camp.
Mike going on about how risky separation of church and state is. Great rant. I love it.
:nod:pap attack!
er, I mean Mike going on about how risky blending church and state is. :fustrate: Arrrrr.
yeah, I love him on Ring of Fire
:paranoid:i went to bible school during the summer when i was a kid!
well thank goodness they didn’t turn you into a suicide bomber for Jesus…
no, you’re a teddy bear person, that’s impossible
Denver
Hundreds of flag-waving demonstrators gathered at the state Capitol Thursday to kick off an effort to deny many government services to illegal immigrants.
Supporters of Defend Colorado Now cheered as speakers criticized the recent series of immigration- rights demonstrations as well as the government for not stemming the flow of illegal immigrants.
At times, the crowd punctuated a speech by chanting “Tancredo! Tancredo! Tancredo!” a reference to Rep. Tom Tancredo, a leading voice for tougher immigration laws.
Police estimated the crowd at 200 to 250, while organizers said 400 to 500 people attended.
————–
Even though Bush’s approval ratings remain low the wing nuts remain.. I think the Hispanics put like 50,000 into the streets in Denver.
teddy bears now!!!!!
and who got more coverage in the local media?
where the hell is everybody!
Yeah, I relate to their righteous rage…I mean America’s not supposed to be about giving oppressed people a break, the melting pot, or anything like that…it’s about paranoid small-minded xenophobes who choose the wrong enemies, yeah, that’s it. Wave the flag, everyone. Wave it, you’ll feel safe, I promise.
what the fuck its like 8am! get your :joe: and get up sheeple!
:cake: HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEVIN!!! :cake:
HOPE YOU GET ALL THE UNDER-THE-DESK TRYSTS YOU WANT TODAY.
I dunno. 🙁
ok yes quote from uh poet yeah rapper whatever guy sage francis “wave your flag especially the white part”
:mad:i want trysts! hmmmm farmerkat spelled tryst wrong!
sorry im a grammar fag!
:nixon: Happy anniversary blogsibs. PJ, thanks, once again, for providing the Ark that kept as all going. Also, it is mighty fine to read a nice longer post from you today. I missed it, but certainly understood. If I think of the hopelessness I felt when Kerry gave up the fight to this point today, it does give me a warm (yet not yet fuzzy) feeling. => Hope the green stuff is leaving your body.
****
thanks for the pap attack notice. I have trouble getting itunes to download ring of fire. and then if i do, i can’t seem to get it to the ipod.
seanie sean, are you on holiday now or still cruising our nation’s highways.
Monday people are skipping work to march in the streets, no spending money, to protest the treatment of immigrants… going to check local events and get out there myself. Yup.
driving around they couldnt get me home when i wanted bastards! then again i made like a thousand extra last week! so i guess i cant complain
hey its malloy! on cnn!:omg:
hey wow the cnn chick is hot!
damn, just missed it…
huh missed what?
Malloy, oh well. I want to see if he rants on TV like he does on the radio
doggone it! I HATE misspelled words and the edit function isn’t up for that post. shit.
It’s ok Farmerkat, trists are probably just as good as trysts…I’ll have to try one some time, maybe it’s even better 😉
Thanks Sean for that clip of Malloy. That was priceless. It made me smile 😀 to see how reserved Mike was trying to be.
I especially liked the heading for the clip on YouTube
Attractive women must cause Sean to erase memory.. Must make it difficult driving a truck though a college town in the spring time.
no where it says malloy is a link to malloy on youtube!
Rachel regarding “the visceral horror of people speaking Spanish,” she’s right…I use Spanish words sometimes because I just like the sound and spent some time living in Mexico, so I’m used to it…I said “gracias” to someone once and they were actually offended. “This is America, please speak English.” I couldn’t fucking believe it.
Ah, a link. I’m so silly. Gracias, Sean.
oh my god dont get me started! we were doing a show at texas a&m earlier this week! WHOA! why do you think i havent been on the blog!
Hey everyone!
Happy :cake: Kevin!!!!
I was reading the Taurus Horrorscope for today….its just to mean to post, but since it applies to you and me…well….
I wish you a nice quiet day at work…no surprise party and SEX!! (everyone should get a little on their birthday!)
PJ- Happy anniversary and thanks so much for this blog. I dont think that any of us have to tell you how much its meant.
Its incredible how much has happened and it does seem like its been years since MS ended.
I love to hear every morning how much lower, lower, lower Bush’s ratings are going…but then Im still disturbed about Suz’s little story about the repugs trying to recruit her. Which mailing list is that, Suz? I think a few of us should join and tear the place up….It sounds like the 29% list (who is left and also a close approximation of their IQ’s)
Anyway PJ- I hope you got much of your stuff done! You need a vacation!…but I have a feeling that its not coming anytime soon….
Suz- tomorrow there is an antiwar march in NYC, right? Then on MOnday for immigrants too?…wow!….
I was thinking of going down tomorrow to the Seaport to see the Bodies exhibit with the boys, but Im not sure if I have the energy.
Its been a killer week and I was so tired last night that I was weeping by the end of it.
Will got the ball in his lacrosse game and got slammed and passed it….whew!…he didnt drop it or anything. I was so relieved! This is a kid who gets very uncomfortable in crowds and hates to be touched …gets shocked very easily and gets an adrenaline rush that turns his ears red!…and he never played team sports, but always did karate, becooming a black belt…so Im pretty happy that hes carried thorough with this, even if he is complaining of aches and pains all the time.
Kat, how are you feeling?…Is the rash any better?…It all sounds like an immune response to me…what did they think of the breathing thing?…just released you with no explanation?
I hope you start feeling better really soon!
Incredible weather here, but I got a sunburn on the lacrosse field yesterday afternoon…I am SO white that its just funny. I need a new sunhat…gave my hat to my Mom last summer…she is so much whiter than me…Irish/Russian skin…we strobe.
Revolt!
Resurrect!
Redeem!
:omg:
is it just me or does the republican dumbass look like a little tom delay? very scary! its as if tom delay had a bout of mitosis
hmm, none of the movies are showing on My Space…I thought it was just the Neil Young interview on my website that disappeared, but Sean, your Malloy movie in the bulletin you sent isn’t showing either…weird. Wonder if it’s a memory issue and I just need to reboot?
i had to click on where the movie was then it showed up weird though?
After I run one of the Windows media player plug ins to listen to an AAR affiliate I can’t play any Windows media videos the screen just turns green. If I reboot it works until I start streaming something again.
What a ditzy CNN moderator. Malloy’s opponent was a real piece of work, too.
Comment by SeanMS
mitosis “…results in the formation of two new nuclei each having the same number of chromosomes as the parent nucleus”
Yep, looks like Republican Dumbass is a result of a Tom Delay Mitosis! :rofl2:

Well the recruitment is basically over… a lot happened since I posted that…it’s a forum on My Space…the guy who was going to recruit me saw my post in an old thread and decided I couldn’t be saved after all…(a couple of weeks prior I had had it out with an idiot named Jason regarding “Bush being like Hitler”, the whole story is on my blog). I was saying something about Neocon’s propaganda techniques resembling that of the Third Reich and that kind of damned me in their eyes. He actually at got to the point where he wanted to both date and convert me, but now I’m a liberal slut whore because I insulted his daddy Bush. Yes indeed. I’m actually kind of relieved, I can act, but only to a point.
TexASS A & M – you’re in the heart of it again, Seanie.
maybe the last time I had a tryst (pre mr F !) it was a trist and so now I’m ALL confused!
Meliina, they think maybe post-surgery muscle crap coupled with the medicine for the rash. Woke up today without actually scratching
 life is good when you don’t itch!
Over the weekend I watched WJ on c-span and almost every conservative person they had on had a round head, beady eyes and was bald.. I could only think they were all cast from the same mold.. or maybe grown from the same mold.. It could be there are several different models..
Let the market decide. $5 per gallon, so be it. No price controls, otherwise, America won’t be a great nation.
yeah, glad you’re feeling better Farmerkat 🙂
:rabbi: Which side are you on? Huh, Rebbe?:rofl2:
Chevron earnings soar 49 percent to $4B
hey springer is playing pink! mmmmmmmmm i love pink! i need to go home!
me sleepy!

Karl Rove is the model for that type, I think. Then there’s the born again type creationist type, they’re usually younger and have hair, and are not precisely bad looking, but have an extremely stupid look on their faces and really, really sense of dress
Springer goes to Temple.
jerry@springerontheradio.com :omg:
hey sweet this is what i wanted to know!
OK. I have nothing to say. Time to move on.
I just wish Springer would STAY in temple…maybe for his next career he could be a Rabbi and leave us alone….
Damn, gettin’ screwed right off the top. A bbl should be 55 gallons, not 42!
More lube, less gas!
seanie- didnt Rachel do the oil thing?…oh it was about the barrell measurement.
Im so glad that MSNBC put the countdown on at 9AM…sean, I think you can also listen to msnbc on XM, right?
Is that right, Springer? You believe Oswald shot Kennedy?:omg:
49% ❓
Condie is the only conservative that doesn’t look like the rest.. I still think she looks like one of the reptilians from the Star Trek series.
I only listen to Springer in the car when I have no real alternative…
:jesus::nixon::peace:Barish. Shalom. –
the question mark never works for me, always gives me that smirk face….
I can only listen to him while streaming. It’s either Springer or Tyger Thom.:omg:
Morning Editionist Apologetics gets old fast.
Hurry up and get to that conspiracy theory stuff.:rofl2:
The people on AAR need to have a coordination meeting once a week so they at least all say the same thing.. Who was it that said “I don’t belong to any organized political party I’m a Democrat” ??
fred- Tim Robbins did that play down at the public theater and I went down to see it…the funniest thing was the condi mask…it was very stylized and they kept cutting from the story of a soldier to this group of cronys who were Rove, Condi, Rummy, etc…and they had these half masks that just went down over their cheeks and noses. They did the most hysterical mouth movements…especially the Condi actress with the huge dark lipstick!
I always think of that when I see these guys.
Fred- wasnt that Jeaneane?
Pap keeps saying that hes leaving the party and Bobby keeps talking him into staying to try to make it better…when you hear uncle Teddy talk about how it should be you can see why its probably worth it, but its sad that someone is espousing those ideas to a powerless disorganized party….and neocons are making drinking jokes about Teddy instead of listening to what hes saying.

mr f and i were listening to springer in the car the other day and we both noticed the variety of callers from around the country who are furious with the administration on a wide variety of issues – pretty interesting, really.
this is what i think of when i see condi!
It was a quote from either the depression era or the late 19th century..It could have been Samuel Clemens or maybe the guy who died in an airplane crash in Alaska
Condie is the only conservative that doesn’t look like the rest.. I still think she looks like one of the reptilians from the Star Trek series.
Yeah, or one of the Sleastacks from Land of the Lost! 😮
Condie looks a bit better than this does .. Ewwwwww:crap::roll:

Ok, one thing I’ll say for Springer is he does fire up middle of the road types or wavering conservatives to turn against Bush. I think that’s a big part of his audience, actually.
Jay Marvin, Springer and Shultz are for the people in the middle who can’t read or are slow to believe. The truth about the right is in plain sight.. Its just that the M$M won’t tell you where to look.
i agree, susan. That’s how I’ve reconciled having him on…we need all the help we can get. That’s how I’ve tolerated some of Ed’s shit, too. I must say, though, both of them, over the past year, have gotten stronger progressive voices than they did when they started. ABCT (anything but conservative talk) for me at this point.
I have never been so proud.
My Mom likes Springer and shes very smart usually….but she likes call in shows. She even listens to those CNN and cnbc call ins, which can be painful, IMO.
yes, sloooow! Just glad that eventually they come around. Hey, man, I’m dying out here in the south so I suppose I’m easier to please!
Oh my God!! I just heard on the countdown that Rosie O’Donnell is joining the View. She will absolutely kill neocon Hasselblad…and is scary in her own right!…what a horrible thought…but considering that they also were looking at Connie Chung, things could be worse.
Ugh…what a freak show!!
Someone told me that he though that something he heard on AAR was some of the best fiction and conspiracy stuff he had heard. I had to show him where it was spelled out to be truth.. Some of these people live in a fantasy world and coming out of it is very difficult for them.
Well I’m glad he’s making a difference and is a good alternative to mainstream for a lot of people – I really wish he’d stop being nice to the very extreme people who occasionally call him up. Unless that doesn’t happen much anymore, I’ll be honest, I don’t listen to the show all that much…but I mean there were raging rude rednecks calling up and he was anxious to give them “their say”
Keith O. is hysterical the way he takes on O’ Reilly.
There is a new price on freedom, so buy into it while supplies last.
Changes need to be made;
No more curbside baggage,
Seven pm curfew,
Racial profiling will continue with less bitching.
We’ve unified over who to kill, so until I find more relevant scripture to quote,
Remember, our god is bigger, stronger, smarter, and much wealthier.
So wave those flags with pride, especially the white part.
excerpt from makeshift patiot by sage francis
Here’s what landed the Syracuse Post-Standard on the Bill O’Reilly shitlist. This is what he calls the “slander,” and what, I suppose brands the paper as ultra-liberal:
only time i see the view is when i go to the dentist – they always seem to have it on. figure that one out.
Someone told me that he though that something he heard on AAR was some of the best fiction and conspiracy stuff he had heard. I had to show him where it was spelled out to be truth.. Some of these people live in a fantasy world and coming out of it is very difficult for them.
Right, conservatives say that all the time. If it’s something they don’t believe it’s automatically propaganda to them. You’re lucky if you were able to get any of them to actually listen to “proof,” usually at the point a person tries to do that, they just go into attack mode or simply stop listening.
2 live crew!!!!!
One and one, we`re having some fun,

Media Matters has documented many of O’Reilly’s lies, but the right just waves it off with “that’s a liberal website.”
Hi Kevin and Happy Birthday! :cake::bong::40: So glad your desk wasn’t decorated 🙄
Oh, man, Nick Danger, Third Eye. I used to love that. We used to go down to a local radio station – 1260 WNDR – and pester the DJ’s until they’d toss us some worn out 45’s (they were radio station ones, with only one side). I got a bunch of Firesign Theatre 45’s from them.
Guess I have no reason to be worried ’bout you Seanie Sean!:spank:
Hey PJ, Nick Danger, Third Eye was one of my faves too! We used to have this plastic cyclops toy that would pop its eye out when you smushed it and I used to walk up to my house mates with it on my forehead and say, “Nnnnnick Danger, Third EYE!” and pop the eye out at them. :rofl2:
They often have the View on in the gym, which beats FUX news, which some musclehead turns all the TVs to in the early AM. …I usually go behind the desk and get the remote and switch all the channels around, to which I get chorus’ of thank yous!!
I find Star Jones to be horribly scary, and ever since that Hasselblad joined, Ive turned it off! She was one of the few people who would appear at the Repug NYC convention…and her previous TV experience is as a Survivor competitor…but she married a professional football player so I guess that busy her some cred…?
Anyway, its OK with no sound and the closed captioning. Im usually trying to catch up on reading when IM on the bike anyway….or remote blogging!
Seanie dear…as someone who has always loved lyrics, I have to say that I dont get the crew up there….give me some old elvis costello or really old Springsteen any day…I guess Im old, but really….ugh! Its so repetitive and stupid.
Maybe you need to see the crew and their ho’s and bitches dancing round to really appreciate it. It looses somethign in the translation when presented as poetry.
Hey, KP, I had a similar bad trip experience, except it wasn’t Firesign Threatre that got my shit together, but (of all things) watching an episode of the Dukes of Hazard. I took off in a crowded roomful of people (not my idea of a great time, even while straight), and trudged back to my apartment, walking past the same intersection about 100 times in a row (as it was a straight line back to the apartment, it was really flipping me out), and I was all kinds of worked up, on the verge of losing it. So, my housemate sat down with me, and we watched the Dukes (as I watched his face melt), and I got calmed down again.
Check out the Maron update Here
Iranian Oil Bourse – opening next week??
” Iran oil bourse next week
Apr 26, 2006
Oil Minister Kazem Vaziri Hamaneh said on Wednesday that the establishment of Oil Stock Exchange is in its final stage and the bourse will be launched in Iran in the next week.
He told reporters, upon arrival from Qatar where he attended the 10th General Assembly of International Energy Agency and consultations with OPEC member states, that registration of the Oil Stock Exchange is underway and the entity will operate after being approved by by Council of Stock Exchange.

This has been talked about a lot but no one thought they would really do it. This along with all the other stuff may destabilize the dollar and cause the US treasure to file for bankruptcy.
I get so sick when I hear the neo-cons state this lie. Yes, Wired, owes Gore a huge apology.
that’s good to see kp. Maron sounds very frustrated in his post on his blog today.
1) Happy Birthday, Kevin!
2) Happy Anniversary, PJ!! You know, I have ALL the old Firesign Theatre albums on vinyl. We even have, for some reason, 3 copies of Waiting for the Electrician — which is the only one I don’t particularly like!
Hey, you guys, have you heard that AAR is losing the WLIB affiliate as of 8/31? This really, seriously sucks. Apparently the Arbitron book was really bad for the first quarter — across the board. How accurate that is, I don’t know, and how much it’s Arbitron changing how they track listenership I don’t know — but if true, it means that Goldberg the Putz did a good job running the thing into the ground. If AAR goes away in the heat of an election year, I may just have to throw in the towel and start loving Big Brother.:omg::omg::omg:
AAR apparently is negotiating with a station in NYC that has more power than WLIB does so they can get heard by more people than they are now. The change over will not take place until Aug first. WLIB is supposed to still be liberal talk radio probably with Shultz replacing Rhodes among other things.

AAR apparently is negotiating with a station in NYC that has more power than WLIB does so they can get heard by more people than they are now. The change over will not take place until Aug first.
That’s a relief…I didn’t get the WLIB signal in very well anyway (so I stream), but I would be very upset if NYC did not have an AAR presence at all. I was very upset yesterday
I thought Randi had the best ratings of all the AAR hosts. Is that still true? Why would they replace her? Sheesh
In the fall Talkers Mag ratings Rhodes didn’t even place in the top 15 programs. Franken was in like 13th place. Shultz was in 11th place and Stephie Miller was in 14th place. Limpprick and Handjob were still first and second with almost 10 times the audience of anyone else.

Fred, how do you know about these negotiations? The Media Week article doesn’t say anything about it. :omg::holla:
I don’t think AAR has made any official announcement but it was conjectured over on Democratic Underground

Wow! Huge incentives for AAR “Premium” members.
Wow, talk about excitement!
But wait, there’s more!
Others will have to pay a whopping $2 more!
But wait…
If you wanted to buy that, say, here, you’d have to pay… $12.95. Huh?
What a deal!
thanks pj, i feel better about my Premium purchase. :yuck:
they really know how to sock it to ya. I will say that getting Maron’s show has been easier lately. Podcast is up in the a.m. regularly.
i thought there were some numbers out recently for Rhodes and Franken that showed they were kicking ass. They both mentioned it a couple months ago.

Who was it that said “I don’t belong to any organized political party I’m a Democrat” ??

That was Will Rogers. Proof that some things never change. 😀
Thanks for the birthday wishes, everybody. The abbreviated work day went well. No sex yet, but I still have 8 hours. :hubba:
Melina, now I’m curious as to what that horoscope says. The Taurean predictions in the St Pete Times this week have been dull as dishwater. If you can post it, I can take it.
Krista, if you ever make it down here, you and only you have permission to decorate my desk. :jason:
Quietgirl, good luck in Vegas. You can owe me that spanking for now. (Quietmistress?) :spank:
Plus the new Neil Young stuff and a rare weekday Pap attack. What a day!
:nixon::cake::nixon:
And does anyone besides me know that Saddam Hussein ALSO has a birthday today? :omg:
Seriously. Jay Leno usually mentions it in his monologue. It’s his birthday too.
Also fifth President James Monroe. (All three of these guys had it before me. In Monroe’s case, WELL before.)
Not to mention some hotties: Ann-Margret, Penelope Cruz and Jessica Alba. :hubba:

Undoubtedly, Washington has no constructive foreign policy of its own regarding the Palestinian-Israeli conflict and is itself following an Israeli script, one that will deem any Palestinian leadership “terrorist”, “irrelevant” and “no peace partner”, even if the entire Palestinian leadership was made of vegetarian, pacifist, Mother Teresa incarnates. That’s all beside the point.
All Israel is striving for is time: to consolidate its strong hold over occupied Jerusalem, to conclude the construction of its illegal Apartheid Wall built mostly on Palestinian land and to demarcate its own borders, which also happen to fall in Palestinian areas.

What i would like to know about 911 is why NORAD didn’t respond and why the FAA cut up and disposed of those tapes of the flight controller conversations with those planes.
Here’s an idea.. Have all the ticked off people on the left illegally migrate to Mexico and over throw their government .. Its a much smaller target that trying to fix the domestic mess.
Get the US to help renew the Mexican economy. Then create some sort of conferderation. Allow Canada to join.
As Many as a Half a Dozen’ Members of Congress May Be Involved in Prostitution Scandal
Yesterday, the Wall Street Journal reported that the FBI is “investigating whether two contractors implicated in the bribery of former Rep. Randall ‘Duke’ Cunningham supplied him with prostitutes and free use of a limousine and hotel suites.” The Journal also said the investigators are exploring “whether any other members of Congress” are involved.
Last night on MSNBC’s Scarborough Country, Dean Calbreath of the San Diego Union Tribune – which recently won a Pulitzer Prize for its coverage of the Cunningham case – said that “as many as a half a dozen” members of Congress could ultimately be implicated in the prostitution scandal.

If they are rethugs they are the prostitutes.. I will bet they didn’t know it was illegal though.
I read on biodiesel.org that even if we put all the land that can be farmed for growing biomass for masking biodiesel we would only be able to make something like 800 million gallons a year. We currently use 2.1 billion gallons of just diesel fuel a year. Some of that land is also suitable for crops to make alchol so we still need to get fuel eficient and you can forget about exporting any of it.
We need a bold leader to proclaim that within five years we will be independent of foreign oil, and within ten years will no longer have a petroleum based economy. Then challenge the Congress to apportion the funding. Could have been done in September 2001. Imagine what a trillion dollars spent in freeing us from our addiction to oil (instead of protecting our source) would have done – both in terms of our national security, and the benefits for the planet. Of course, we don’t have a bold leader.
If Rove goes to prison he will probably try to rig the inmates council election but will be discovered then we won’t have to worry about him any longer

Rush Limbaugh makes deal with in ‘doctor shopping’ probe
RAW STORY Published: Friday April 28, 2006
Print This | Email This
Rush Limbaugh has committed to a settlement agreement with the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office in their probe of allegations that the conservative talk show host went doctor shopping, according to a press release issued by Limbaugh’s attorney, RAW STORY has found.
According to attorney Roy Black, a single charge of doctor shopping will be filed in court by the state attorney, and as long as Limbaugh “completes an additional 18 months of treatment” by his physician, and pays $30,000 “to the State of Florida to defray the public cost of the investigation,” the charge will then be dropped.
Press release issued by Limbaugh’s attorney:
# In response to media and other inquiries, Roy Black, Rush Limbaugh’s attorney, released the following statement today concerning a settlement agreement with the Palm Beach County State Attorney’s Office to end the investigation of Mr. Limbaugh:
“I am pleased to announce that the State Attorney’s Office and Mr. Limbaugh have reached an agreement whereby a single count charge of doctor shopping filed today by the State Attorney will be dismissed in 18 months. As a primary condition of the dismissal, Mr. Limbaugh must continue to seek treatment from the doctor he has seen for the past two and one half years. This is the same doctor under whose care Mr. Limbaugh has remained free of his addiction without relapse.

I’ve been in radio for 25 years and I’m not surprised that AAR is on it’s last legs. When you have no listeners, you have no advertisers. Besides, there’s no unique selling point. I mean, why would liberals go to Air America for their liberal talk? They already have ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, PBS, & NPR.

How do people in NYC afford to live there? All I hear about is the sky high, ever rising cost of housing there. How do the normal, honest folks do it? Or is there some sort of ethnic cleansing going on? Ain’t got the Do-Re-Mi? Then get out of Dodge. I hear New Jersey is cheaper.
Fuck this shit! It is happening everywhere. Goddamn real estate hucksters.Deregulations. Housing as a goldrush boom commodity. Both of our political parties are right on with it.
:omg::fu::knit2::jason::jason::jason::jason:
The fact remains, a warrant was issued for the arrest of Rush Limbaugh. He was arrested. He was booked and he had to post bail. He will still have to appear in court.

This is from the 1980s, Randi. The Christic Institute con. Remember?
Hey revolutionaries. I like the new Neil Young album. It’s got a nice garagey, grungy sound to it and the lyrics sound hot…
Working people in NYC live in the boroughs. I lived in the Bronx my whole life. The rich live in Manhattan, or the very poor, that’s about it.
The demonstration in NYC tomorrow will be neat and orderly the demonstrators will feel community, none of the M$M will carry it.. the demonstrators will go home ,nothing will happen… Now if they were to torch the NBC building …..
Another thing, people commute from ever-farther locations into the city – the further you live from the center, the cheaper it is. It’s not surprising to see people these days commute from 60, 70 miles away into Manhattan to work, though if you ask me it’s insane…
How much is rent in the burroughs? Say for a studio? Is there ethnic cleansing going on in the lower eastside because of the real estate bonanza? How about Harlem? The Village? All i hear about is $3000 for a puny studio apartment. People dumping possessions onto the sidewalk and leaving. Perhaps that is going on where the psycho wall street types live. I don’t know. Places become too expensive.
:fu:Trump!
MY cousin works for Nostrums in downtown Manhattan . he and 5 of his friends live in a two bedroom walk up some where where he can walk to work,. They pay line 2700 a moth which includes their utilities.
They must get paid fairly well to be able to afford that.
I guess I don’t have a realistic picture of NYC. Not as bleak.
I need to do some research?
Save CBGBs. Where would Pollock live today (I don’t mean Long Island.) Big Apple, baby!
There are some good neighborhoods in Queens, the Bronx, Brooklyn where rents are somewhat decent, but you have to know where to go. I admit it’s hard to know if you don’t live in the city. It’s not easy, but it can be done with a little help from someone who knows their way around the neiborhoods. There are also some suburban towns, like the one I live in (pretty close to the city) that have some decently priced housing.
I killed the blog. Hey,, San Francisco is not working class friendly, either.
Real Estate Bonanza! How jeffersonian is that?
If you’re really serious, I’ll do some research for you. Give me an idea of what you’re looking for, he price range, etc, and the furthest you would want to be from Manhattan.
Oh yeah, a lot of people look for roomates and split costs, it’s the latest rage 🙂
MMMM CBGB’s. Those were my art school days.
From what I am gathering, NYC and surroundings is not much different than other cities experiencing the real estate blues. Portland, too. My unexamined notion was that the NYC situation was much worse. But hell, there are sections of Portland that are too expensive for all but the robber baron classes. I have a friend who grew up in NYC in the fifties. He always says that Portland reminds hom of NYC, especially the 1950s version. Pre-Robert Moses, NYC.
Hey! Are you a member of the creative class? The pioneers who find the cheap, liveable spaces? There you create cultures, thrive. Attract the moneyed folks, who want to live there, too. So they do. And for some reason, high rents soon follow.
:omg::omg:
Thank you, creative class.:fu:
What a scam!
Yeah, the latest thing I’m hearing is artists in the city taking off for Philadelphia…that’s the latest artist space which just happens to be a little over 100 miles away. I don’t think they’re commuting, I think they’re just leaving.
Shared rent is an old strategy–very old strategy!
Janeane is very good on the radio. Criticize her all you want for her pop psychology. But she does clarify much.
Talk about the los of WLIB, Janeaane. WTF is going on?
:fu:Real Estate pigs!
1950’s NYC? Portland sounds nice…
I work with artists who live in Philly. North District. The Abbaye! RockandRoll, baby!
Yep..in fact I have two bedrooms in this condo and I’m in the process of converting one (currently used for storing all my books, movies, and art stuff) into a roomate space.
Philly is nice. I don’t know the names of the neighborhoods, but there’s one part that feels like the way the Village used to be before all the little shops started being replaced by classless chain stores. I need to go back to Philly soon.
Scott Kelman told me that. He is a bigshot in improv theater. Does workshops. He was associated with Living Theater. Chaikin. . . Knows everybody. (I had a falling out with him 4 or 5 years ago.)
What kind of art do you do? Got any samples online?
I heard about the Living Theater, very cool
Rents here in the NW burbs of Denver are in the 600-900 range for a one bedroom and in the 800 – 1200 range for a 2 bedroom. You can buy a house cheaper than you can rent if you buy an existing house 2000 sq feet is around 200k. If you can find something exciting to do in North Platte Neb you can still by a new 2000 sq foot house for less than 200 k.
Nicki finally made the paper and they are shooting the new Rocky out front of my house.
Yeah, there’s nothing that I know of like that in the NYC suburbs in that range.
Oh, are you a star now Mr. artist revolutationary? You have a star’s name 🙂
I should have provided context to that blurb. It will sink in ieventually. Give it time.
included another VIP pass from the next night, on November 1st, 2003 when CKY played at the TLA in Philadelphia, PA featuring SPECIAL Guest Nicki Rose. …

Hello, my friends. I’m sure $10,000 a week must sound like a lot of money to be spending on drugs, especially to those of you who only make twice that much per year.
But I’m a huge man, my friends, and it takes massive amounts of Oxycontin for my morbidly obese, anal-cyst-infected ass to get a buzz.
It was much easier for Noelle Bush, my friends. Remember her? Jeb’s daughter. She’s a tiny little thing, and could forge a prescription for three Xanax and be flying for the rest of the night.
Not me, my friends. I have to haunt gas stations in the dead of night to properly fry my fat ass.
Life just isn’t fair, my friends. I blame the liberal media, who insist on pointing out what a hypocritical piece of shit I am. :crap:
Bastards.

And she’s pissed at Bush! This has possiblities. :hubba:
dude its not hope springs eternal its hope springs a turtle!
:rofl2: where is everybody?
I grew up in Queens (neighborhood of Woodhaven, just above Ozone Park next to JFK Airport, next to Brooklyn on one side & Richmond Hill, where I went to High School on the other side and Forest Park & Flushing to the North) in the 1950s & 1960s. :knit: Left greater NYC in 1966 after H.S. graduation to attend a disatrous 1-1/2 semesters at Augustana College in Rock Island, Ill.:yuck:, only to return to live with parents in Lake Ronkonkoma :yuck::yuck::yuck:(Suffolk County, where Edith Bunker spent a couple of summers with Cousin Something or another) for a year or so while commuting to Manhattan to an $80/week secretarial job:yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck:. From Lake Ronkonkoma to Penn Station took 4-5 or more hours round trip in those days via Long Island RailRoad.
I was very young & single back then and really hated living in Lake Ronkonkoma:billcat: because 12+ hours a day for work/travel really, really cut into having any kind of life – was this really a huge improvement over an Upton Sinclair novel?:rant1:
Anyway, I eventually ended up renting a room in a former neighbor’s house in Woodhaven (MUCH closer to EVERYTHING in NYC via BMT el & subway) which cut travel time by 3/4 and gave me my life back, such as it was back then.:40:
Back then (circa 1966-68) I worked with an aspiring actress who was also a secretary at the same Chemical & Engineering Magazine where I worked. :alc:She was from South Carolina or Georgia or someplace and I was so jealous of her great accent & theater aspirations:yinyang:. She was quite a trip & a very interesting, funny person:nod:. Anyway, she was sharing a one bedroom aparttment on the Upper West Side (I think) of Manhattan with two roomates:doh: for about $800/month (to the best of my feeble memory). She took me to see the apartment at some point and it just amazed me that 3 people could live in 2 postage stamp sized rooms. The kitchen/dining/living room was maybe 8′ x 10′ max and if the single bedroom was 8’x8′, it was huge. I just remember it seeming so tiny for 3 people:eek:. It was basically not a whole lot bigger than the 2 rooms I was renting in a private home in Queens (with shared bathroom with 2 little old ladies). The difference was that I had a 1/2 hour subway commute to get to midtown Manhattan and was paying 1/4 of what they paid in rent (including utilities).
Blast from the past — I imagine my tiny 2 rooms in Queens in a private house with a shared bathroom would cost, oh, probably at least what my buddies Manhattan apartment cost these days:eek::eek:. And my mortgage for a 2000 sqare foot house on a nice size lot in Syracuse NY is just a smidgeon more per month than that postage stamp size apartment:omg:!
Shit, back then, gas was about 30-40 cents a gallon or so. 😀
Gotta drive out to Minneapolis:billcat: in a couple of weeks & will be tracking gas costs to see how it compares to flying (which I refuse to do unless there is absolutely no choice:doh: — I don’t know if I am on the no fly list, but I may well be because I am one of the infamous Raging Grannies:eek:, although only for about a year, but Big Brother does not like ANY dissent).
Anyway, PJ was kind enough to share his :growl:nasty whatever bug he has with me:billcat: and now I’m getting the old runny nose/stuffy head crap which I absolutely don’t have time, energy or patience for. This needs to go away :growl: Evil spirits be gone!!
Boo!:jason: WOW, man!:omg: It’s the Ragin’ Granny!!!!
PJ is so nice to share!!!!!:barf:

Do we have to save the FLAGSHIP station now? You know, I am liking the new Phoenix AAR much better than the old. It is more grassroots and is run by true liberals now. Ferment Over ‘The Israel Lobby’
by Philip Weiss; The Nation; April 28, 2006
Intellectuals can only dream of having the impact that John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt have had this spring. Within hours of their publishing a critique of the Israel lobby in The London Review of Books for March 23, the article was zinging around the world, soon to show up on the front pages of newspapers and stir heated discussion on cable-TV shows. Virtually overnight, two balding professors in their 50s had become public intellectuals, ducking hundreds of e-mails, phone messages and challenges to debate.
Titled “The Israel Lobby,” the piece argued that a wide-ranging coalition that includes neoconservatives, Christian Zionists, leading journalists and of course the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, or AIPAC, exerts a “stranglehold” on Middle East policy and public debate on the issue. While supporting the moral cause for the existence of Israel, the authors said there was neither a strategic nor a moral interest in America’s siding so strongly with post-occupation Israel. Many Americans thought the Iraq War was about oil, but “the war was motivated in good part by a desire to make Israel more secure.”
The shock waves from the article continue to resonate. The initial response was outrage from Israel supporters, some likening the authors to neo-Nazis. The Anti-Defamation League called the paper “a classical conspiratorial anti-Semitic analysis invoking the canards of Jewish power and Jewish control.”

The Israel Lobby?
by Noam Chomsky ; March 28, 2006
I’ve received many requests to comment on the article by John Mearsheimer and Stephen Walt (henceforth M-W), published in the London Review of Books, which has been circulating extensively on the internet and has elicited a storm of controversy. A few thoughts on the matter follow.
It was, as noted, published in the London Review of Books, which is far more open to discussion on these issues than US journals — a matter of relevance (to which I’ll return) to the alleged influence of what M-W call “the Lobby.” An article in the Jewish journal Forward quotes M as saying that the article was commissioned by a US journal, but rejected, and that “the pro-Israel lobby is so powerful that he and co-author Stephen Walt would never have been able to place their report in a American-based scientific publication.” But despite the fact that it appeared in England, the M-W article aroused the anticipated hysterical reaction from the usual supporters of state violence here, from the Wall St Journal to Alan Dershowitz, sometimes in ways that would instantly expose the authors to ridicule if they were not lining up (as usual) with power.

wow, woke up late, I missed it all, shite
hey Susan!
Hey King Kong. Just missed the stream, I’ll have to get it somewhere else later…how was the show?
“For a lot of us, who didn’t know a lot about the Israel/Palestine conflict beyond the conventional wisdom and Leon Uris’s Exodus, we saw a cold war ally; and the moral issue and the common democracy reinforced a strong pro-Israel bent.” Then Desch rode to a conference with two left-wing Jewish academics familiar with the New Historians. “My initial reaction was the same as John’s: This is crazy. [They argued that] the Israelis weren’t the victims of the ’48 war to destroy the country. Ben-Gurion had real doubts about partition. Jordan and Israel talked about dividing up the West Bank together. All those things were heretical. They seemed to be coming from way, way out in left field. Then we started reading [them], and it completely changed the way we looked at these things.” Mearsheimer says he had been blinded by Uris’s novel. “The New Historians’ work was a great revelation to me. Not only do they provide an abundance of evidence to back up their stories about how Israel was really created, but their stories make perfect sense. There is no way that waves of European Jews moving into a land filled with Palestinians are going to create a Jewish state without breaking a lot of Palestinian heads…. It’s just not possible.”
