Okay, explain to me again why I give a shit that Nicole Kidman married Keith Urban (whoever that is)? I mean, they were rumored to be gonna get married, they were gonna get married, they were gonna get married any day now, and now they’re frickin’ married. Well, whoopdie freakin’ doo, man. I mean, don’t get me wrong, I hope they’ll be happy and he won’t turn into a crazy fuckin’ scientologist or something, but I barely care when somebody I actually know gets married, I sure as hell don’t care when strangers do it. Then I’m checking out of the grocery store, and I see she’s got a “bump.” Oh, fer crissakes. Now they’ll be relentless with that shit until she has puppies.
Look, unless one or both of ’em comes out and says we need to pull out of Iraq as soon as possible, and oh, by the way Bush & Cheney should be impeached (and convicted), and damnit it’s about time the Marc Maron Show was syndicated, well then goddamn it, I don’t wanna hear from or about them.
But, anyways, I suppose today will mark the start of another week filled with nasty things directly screwing with our right to life, liberty, and the presuit of happiness being overshadowed by a whole lotta stupid shit about celebrity babies, demoted goats (OK, I thought that one was funny, especially the guy who said Billy the Goat “was trying to headbutt the waist and nether regions of the drummers”), and bimbos battling aboard JetBlue.
Oh well, whatever happens this week – reported on or not – I hope, by the end of it, y’all find yourself a little bit closer to that whole happiness thing.

Smelly yet highly sociable mini-robot proves fatally attractive to cockroaches
Alex Duval Smith, Europe correspondent
Sunday June 25, 2006
The Observer
In a breakthrough for the battle against mankind’s most diehard enemy – the cockroach – European scientists have hoodwinked a group of them into congregating in a place where they can be stamped on easily.
The kick in the mandibles comes from a Belgian-led team who spent three years developing a mini robot that can convince cockroaches to creep out of dark holes and gather in light places. The InsBot looks more like a pencil sharpener than a household pest, but it smells like a cockroach. Most importantly, the InsBot can pass for a Periplaneta Americana (American cockroach).

I tend to think that military people are more likely to think of military solutions for situations. This means more wars. That’s how I reason it out, anyway
Damn, got a lot of rain last night. Tunnels flooded out. Metro shut down for most of the night – still flooded out (and shut down) in some places. They’ve been pumping water out all night. Record rainfall last night, and more on the way. Northern VA and Maryland hit hard, too.
Riley and all these other left leaning centrist dip shits need some one to tell them WE LOST .. the victor dictates the terms.. What’s so wrong with that.. Fascist states have typically only ended because of a war which they LOST.. The problem with this loss is everyone else looses too. I wonder when the UN occupation force will arrive ??:omg::yuck::eek::doh::fustrate::billcat::nixon::peace:
Beltway shut down in Alexandria, thanks to mudslides, VA rail shut down today. Looks like my part of the metro is above water. National airport was shut down last night, I guess, and people had to get off the metro and stay there. Some of these tunnels (both rail and auto) are totally under water.
Gee, I hope the preznit’s OK.
Yeah I saw a picture on M$RNC of cars up to their windows in water in Maryland. That happens in Denver quite often when it rains.. The Platte river comes up and all the storm drains channel the water back onto the streets. and worse yet the interstate.. I’m glad we aren’t ( or aren’t yet) below sea level.:billcat::fustrate::doh:
:spank:
“…the basement of the Internal Revenue Service Building was inundated with about five feet of water.”
Bummer. 😉
Yeah, they had to send boats into the 12th street tunnel. Didn’t keep people from trying to drive through there this morning, though. It’s jammed with cars, what with it being still flooded and all.
I wonder if the thugs will respond to their local emergency with the same timely and lucrative aid package they gave New Orleans. Maybe they will move the capitol to TexASS.:fustrate::billcat::doh: 🙁 🙁 :omg::mad::rant1:
God I hate these anti-net neutrality commercials. They’re such out and out fucking lies.
Maybe in VA. I doubt they give a shit about DC (where the slogan on the license plates read, “Taxation Without Representation”) or MD.
There has to be a method by which the people can convey the message to the media that the first amendment should not give one the freedom to lie..That would of coarse put the thug’s out of business. So you just quit listening or watching but they stay in business so you know there are a lot of braindead people out there.:billcat::nixon::peace:

We have a county nonprofit organization to support homeless teens.. The director ,in a meeting with our UPJ group, said that some 80% of the kids are on the streets because their parents kicked them out when they came out ( I would like to see the demographic of their parents). There are like 300 kids under the age of 18 living on the street in Boulder county.. I have to wonder how many are on the streets in metro Denver. ??
Lots of rain on the way; peculiar June weather for the Big Apple – Wouldn’t mind global warming if you could insure that Karl Rove would be bludgeoned by a melting ice flow. Drastic yes, but well worth it.

Until it lost its funding,[Utah] Phillips hosted his own weekly radio show, Loafer’s Glory: The Hobo Jungle of the Mind.
Bad news!:omg:
http://www.utahphillips.org/loafersglory.html
Live Loafer’s Glory – Suspended
At the end of April 2002 Utah Phillips had to suspend his production of Loafer’s Glory. Very simply put, underwriting he had hoped for had not materialized. Utah was faced with a very hard decision, since his health would not allow him to continue to do the weekly show and then travel to do paying gigs which are his bread and butter. Utah has had to curtail doing the show in order to give him more time for the live performances that bring him his income. It was a hard decision and a long time coming as he struggled to do both, but in the end the bills do have to be paid. Loafer’s Glory is not totally gone, and Utah hopes to do a special show now and then. You can get all of the shows on CD from him at No Guff which would also help him a lot and show your support. There are 100 Loafer’s Glory programs in all. Some radio stations have dropped Loafer’s Glory now since it is no longer in production, but many are playing the recorded shows from CD. So while the radio station list below may be changing, let me know if you find Loafer’s Glory on a station near you. And you can still write and call your local community radio station and ask them to buy and play the Loafer’s Glory CD’s. -Chris, webmaster http://www.utahphillips.org

Maybe only two negative calls. Brian Lamb was very polite too. AIPAC should be very afraid, because they might own a majority of congressmen, but they’re not that popular. God help them if the pictures from aljazeera of palestinians getting slaughtered ever got picked up by the main stream media. Does anybody wonder why AAR is not all over the Israeli invasion of Gaza?
Another Escalation from the Palestinians
Israeli “Retaliation” and Double Standards
By JONATHAN COOK
The killing by Palestinian militants of two Israeli soldiers and the capture of a third from an army post close to the Gaza Strip set the scene for Israeli “reprisals” and “retaliation”, according to the reports of BBC correspondents in Israel and Gaza yesterday.
The attack by the Palestinians, who sneaked through tunnels under the electronic fence surrounding Gaza, marked a “major escalation in cross-border tension” (Alan Johnston) that threatened to overturn “a week of progress on two fronts” (John Lyon): namely, the recent talks between Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert and Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas in Jordan, and between rival Palestinian groups Fatah and Hamas.
Thus, according to the BBC’s analysis, this attack ends the immediate chances for “peace” negotiations and provides the context for the next round of the conflict between the Israeli army and the Palestinians of Gaza. We are left to infer that all the suffering the army inflicts in the coming days and weeks should be attributed to this moment of “escalation” by the Palestinians.

Ward Churchill gets Regents shoe up ass.
“Now, let me briefly explain the process as we go forward. Professor Churchill may request within 10 days to have President Brown or me forward this recommendation to the Faculty Senate Committee on Privilege and Tenure. If Professor Churchill does so, a special panel will then conduct hearings about this matter and make a recommendation to the president about whether the grounds for dismissal are supported. The handout you received outlines more detail about this process.”

We can ignore the weeks of shelling by the Israeli army of Gaza, the firing of hundreds of missiles into the crowded Strip that have destroyed Palestinian lives and property, while spreading terror among the civilian population and deepening the psychological trauma suffered by a generation of children.
We can ignore the deaths of more than 30 civilians, and dozens of horrific injuries, in the past few weeks at the hands of the Israeli military, including three children hit in a botched air strike last week, and a heavily pregnant woman and her doctor brother killed a day later as a missile slammed into the room where they were eating dinner.
We can ignore the blockade of Gaza’s “borders” by the Israeli army for months on end, which has prevented Palestinians in the Strip from trading goods at crossing points with Israel and from receiving vital supplies of food and medicines. As a captive population besieged by Israeli soldiers, Gazans are facing a humanitarian catastrophe sanctioned by Israeli government policy and implemented by the Israeli army.
We can ignore Israel’s bullying of the international community to connive in the starving of the Hamas-led government of funds and diplomatic room for manoeuvre, thereby preventing the elected Palestinian leadership from running Gaza. So desperate is the situation there that Hamas officials are being forced to smuggle in millions of dollars of cash stuffed in suitcases to pay salaries.
And finally we can ignore the violation of Palestinian territory by Israeli commandos who infiltrated Gaza a day before the Palestinian attack to kidnap two Palestinians Israel claims are terrorists. They have been “disappeared”, doubtless to be be held in administrative detention, where they can denied access to lawyers, the courts and, of course, justice.
None of this provides the context for the Palestinian attack on the army post — any more than, in the BBC’s worldview, do the previous four decades of occupation. None is apparently relevant to understanding the Palestinian attack, or for judging the legitimacy of Israel’s imminent military “reprisals”.
In short, according to the BBC, we can ignore Israel’s long-standing policy of unilateralism — a refusal to negotiate meaningfully with the Palestinians, either the old guard of Fatah or the new one of Hamas — with its resort to a strategy of collective punishment of Gaza’s population to make it submit to the continuing occupation.
Post a Lamont for Senate snail mail address.

AAR is also limited by the fact they are a business.. The sponsors are only motivated by making a buck and the Dems lying around the pool waiting on their dividend checks..are the only ones likely to buy the crap they are peddling. The new FOIA request yielded information about an undercover investigation by the Pentagon on activities into student groups protesting the war at State University of New York at Albany (SUNY Albany), William Paterson University in New Jersey, Southern Connecticut State University and the University of California at Berkeley, reports SLDN.

Limbaugh Detained At Airport
(CBS4 News) WEST PALM BEACH Sources have confirmed to CBS4 News that conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh has been detained at Palm Beach International Airport for the possible possession of illegal prescription drugs Monday evening.
Limbaugh was returning on a flight from the Dominican Republic when officials found the drugs, among them Viagra.
Limbaugh entered a plea deal back in April in a previous case where his charge of fraud to conceal information to obtain prescriptions was dropped under the condition he continue undergoing treatment for addiction.
Limbaugh had admitted to being addicted to pain killers on his radio program and had entered a rehabilitation program prior to that arrest.

NEW YORK Did The Denver Post go too far in publishing a letter to the editor today that advocates the beheading of editors, commentators, and politicians who have criticized the treatment of prisoners at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo Bay? And how many other papers publish such sentiments?
According to Editorial Page Editor Jon Wolman, publishing such a letter is not out of bounds.
The letter was written, ironically, by a resident of Littleton, Colo., site of the bloody Columbine High School shootings in 1999. It appeared to be in reaction to coverage of the recent kidnapping and murder of two U.S. soldiers in Iraq.
“Why have those who have continually howled at our treatment of prisoners at Abu Ghraib and Guantanamo met the recent kidnapping and sadistic and brutal murders of our two young soldiers with deafening silence?” the letter began. “Where is your outrage now?” It then stated that the U.S. “should” behead 100 prisoners in retaliation, as well as ” editors, commentators, college professors and left-wing congressmen who would suddenly break their silence to come out in support of these enemy jihadists. We need to stop listening to these sanctimonious hypocrites who apply the rules of war only to our side.”

U.S. Senators Russ Feingold and Harry Reid have both jumped on board with Bryan Kennedy’s effort to defeat Jim Sensenbrenner this November. Feingold is confirmed to attend an August event as a special guest, and Reid is a sponsor of the event… (he may even come out and make an appearance!). There are several Congressmen/women who are also trying to get it into their schedules.
According to Kennedy’s Campaign Manager, Bridget Dooley, they are going to try to get the event webcast so that the netroots can participate!
This is exactly what the Democratic Party needs, leaders who are willing to stand up against out-of-touch politicians in districts like Jim Sensenbrenner’s (WI-5). Bryan Kennedy is a good progressive who has been working for years to get rid of Jim Sensenbrenner. Let’s join Senators Feingold and Reid as sponsors of the event.

Scrawled Bush threat sparks California port scare
Mon Jun 26, 2006 8:03pm ET
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – A bomb threat against President George W. Bush and his “Jewish gang” scrawled in a cargo ship prompted authorities to shut down part of a major California port on Monday until investigators determined that no explosives were on the vessel.
Officials shut down a terminal at Port Hueneme, about 60 miles north of Los Angeles, after a dock worker discovered the message inside the refrigerated cargo ship, arriving from Guatemala with a load of bananas.
Laura Eimiller, a spokeswoman for the FBI, said the threat, which was written on a metal pillar in the hold of the ship, the Mild Lotus, read: “nitro + glycerin, a gift for gw bush and his jewish gang.”
Nitroglycerine is an explosive liquid that can be used to manufacture explosives like dynamite and for construction and demolition purposes.
