Yes, it was just eight years ago today that me and the missus got hitched in a candle ceremony, outside, on a day when the wind blew so hard that it blew over the arbor my father-in-law built (thank god it didn’t land on anybody – he built that thing pretty damn solid), blew the flame from the oil lamp we used to light the candles over so that it set my mother-in-law’s antique lace tablecloth on fire, and diverted every flight in the vicinity over my in-laws’ back yard, so so that we couldn’t hear a goddamn thing (still not sure if she said “i do” or “fuck no,” but the priest – well, he was an ex-priest, actually, who’d quit the priesthood to marry a nun – signed the license, so I guess she’s stuck with me).
Fortunately, there won’t be any of that mushy, in the same state (let alone the same house) stuff this year, as I’ve cleverly managed to arrange for my wife to have the whole house to herself today. Plus, she gets the dog. It doesn’t get any better than that. Anyhow, Happy Anniversary, Honey. Try not to pick up too many strange men today (you’d be hard-pressed to find one stranger than me, though this blog would be a pretty good place to start). I miss you.

Ned Lamont has a messy desk
“But since a national television audience doesn’t stop his campaign from distortions, half-truths and outright lies, why should anyone expect him to keep it honest while running millions of dollars worth of attack ads in Connecticut?” says the Lamont web site, referring to some on the fibs told by Lieberman in last week’s debate and the nasty ads they’ve been running. “Since Senator Lieberman said he ‘works hard’ for those contributions, we’ve created our own attack ad … one that goes after Ned. Hopefully that will ease the burden created while tending to the corporate interests and political action committees filling his campaign coffers.”

Colo passes illegal immigration legislation
House Bills 1023 and 1017
Main provisions of the cornerstone bill of the session, House Bill 1023, and of another key bill targeting employers:
HB 1023
• Benefits: To get public benefits, people over 18 would have to prove that they are in Colorado legally.
• Penalties: The maximum penalty for falsifying information would be a year and a half in jail and a $5,000 fine for each offense.
• Restrictions: The measure would restrict retirement, welfare, health, disability, public or assisted housing, postsecondary education, food assistance, unemployment or any other similar benefits from state or local governments. It also would restrict public grants, contracts, loans, professional licenses and commercial licenses.
HB 1017
• Legal workers: Employers would have to examine and save proof that workers they hire are here legally.
• Proof: State would be able to audit and verify the proof.
• Penalties: Violation would mean $5,000 fine for first offense and $25,000 for every subsequent offense.
Democrats reached a deal Monday with GOP Gov. Bill Owens on a package of illegal immigration bills, but several Republicans exploded at what they saw as a sellout.
“Bill Owens is the Bill Clinton of Colorado politics,” said Sen. Shawn Mitchell, R-Broomfield.
“He took over eight years ago, when the Republicans were in the majority in the legislature, and he’s lost that. Now he continues to triangulate and make clever deals and treasure his personal approval rating.”

JOE-JOB

My little trip on the train into DC goes through some not especially pretty parts of DC before it plunges underground just before Union Station and just past the FERC building and CNN (you get to go through a large train yard where AMTRAK, MARC, VRE, and DC Metro trains all come to hang out, plus you get to see lots of homeless people spleeping under the bridges, living the American Dream).
Yesterday, I found that Stevie Ray Vaughn’s version of Tin Pan Alley makes a great soundtrack for the ride in, with the Washington Monument off in the hazy distance juxtaposed with garbage, burned out buildings with busted out windows, and shopping carts piled high with treasures, standing guard over the vague lumps of blankets and newspapers that I presume are their owners.
pjsauter, Someone said the Mrs. is Raging G? Is it? I have a tendency to “purposely” not investigate who’s who – so I don’t know much about anyone. I did not know until just recently that NickiRose is a MALE :rofl2:, from “The City” (My City), I think.

All depends on what part of DC you’re in. Some parts are fine. Although, this past weekend, some poor schmuck was stabbed and had his throat slit in Georgetown as 4 assailants tried to rape the woman he was with. Now that they’ve caught them, they think these four were involved in other crimes i nthe area.
The FRA used to keep their track survey cars at a place called IVY city.. You got there by going through a part of DC just north of the capital. It looked a lot like Berlin in May 1945…:shock::yuck:

Marc’s show was really good last night with the guests and banter with Jim. Jim turned 47 yesterday. Marc characterized the show Friday, which will be live, as his last with AAR unless he hears something different. I like the fact that Marc seems comfortable with his decision and is not taking AAR’s rejection of his show as a reflection on him. He seems to have grown in confidence.

And Happy Anniversary to our Cap’n and his wife!
Hey everyone…I woke up too early with a bad headache…too much stress….
But things are going OK.
Happy Anniversary to PJ and Mrs Raging PJ!!
I wish we could all chip in and transport you to a nice resort half way between DC and Northern NY State…but, maybe next year when the Seditionistas have taken over the world!…we need a private plane!
Did you guys see the Olberman interview with John Dean last night? It was # 5 in the countdown…I just watched it again…and its up on the website here
One thing though…it being MSNBC, they ask you in firefox if youd like to download Explorer…so I just fired up explorer and navigated there. Its funny that you cant play it in firefox!
I dont even know why I find that funny….but this ownership thing has gotten way, way out of hand.
Like, Microsoft needs to try to force you to download explorer to use a player that should be cross platform compatible anyway?
I am so sad abotu Marc’s show….Will and I were out to PT etc…yesterday and we listened to Sammy’s last ride and he sang along. Now he’s changed the “marc” in the son to “Mom”…and he bleeps himself too, lest he get grounded from video games at this very tender moment of possible boredom
But all in all, if Marc has decided to dump AAR, then mor epower to him. Honestly, I am so fed up with them. I cant even listen to Rachel anymore. I’ll listen to Bobby Kennedy and Sam….Jeaneane may be on this week depending on the “Grand Jury”…we’ll see.

PJ- if you like McMurtry, you’ll like Buckner, though Buckner’s songs are a little more complex and less accessible lyrically…they sort of unfold and offer new little insights as you go along. But its the acoustic thing as well…I hope you’ll go see him.
If you go here and link to his old website…thats a cool piece of work, and it really has no real information. Just nice graphics and some random sounds and bits of things that really dont represent much..
Seanie- its probably damned near impossible on the road, but its best to try to eat humanely raised and killed animals. Other than that Im not all PETA, except that Im a little too empathetic to be an animal in this chain….
Just do the best you can and if there is a choice of nest eggs or free range, pick that! Its an incredible difference in taste just in the lack of stress hormones in the meat.

This is just insanity….how can this be?
We must get out of there because we are only making things worse!!
…and then you can plan your summer vacation. Does Mr then want adventure or quiet?…Hopefully the location job is enough challenge and he isnt one of those people who want to go and climb a mountain in his spare time!
If I were him I would want to go somewhere cold…like an Alaskan cruise…if there is any ice left up there…or just stay in the a/c for the rest of the summer.
THe Dean/Olberman video is up at crooks&Liars. and there are 2 different formats for your computer comfort.
I use safari wanwenxia….what would you suggest I use instead?
wanwex- maybe on crooks and liars…this should come up again because its so good.
Also, depending on your location in time, they replay the show on MSNBC at 9AM….I saw it at midnight last night too…..
And here you go….on crooks and liars!!
Of course its up there….I LOVE crooks and liars!
Does Firefox work in Macs?
Thanks, Melina. It’s my own fear about the airport but when I mentioned it to him, he said that fear is not unrealistic at all. He said the mortars and explosions are going off non-stop now and bunches of sunni clerics are calling basically crying for help that they are under siege. It’s horrific. There has always been a fear that the Iranians would “turn on the spigot” since heretofore they refrained. I’ve been wondering if they’ve turned it on. I dunno.
He wanted to get in a car and just drive across country to feel “free” but we’re flying to a mountain destination where we have family – Fred – your neck of the woods!
Bush is talking on every news channel except MSNBC where there is a rerun of Keith …
But meanwhile there is some unfolding tragedy in India with 6 trains blown up suddenly….seems to be 5PM there and it was 4 trains or 4 bombs…and then 6 trains/bombs…tons of people packed in trains…very bad…
and yet, Bush is talking on….
Mom says that Bush is saying that everything is wonderful.
was told it does, but i had trouble with it on a pc so am wary installing on the mac – anyone else have it????

Hey Druid, no “bad” on your part. Da Wife reads the blog (it’s the cause of many a smack) but rarely posts.
I use FireFox pretty much exclusively, though not on a Mac. I rarely have trouble with it, though it isn’t perfect. Beats the heck out of Safari.
This isn’t good.
Syd Barrett died. 🙁
:?:PJ: How do you get FireFox to let you play windows media things.. it wants you to install IE6 which is already installed.:?::?::?:
did Druid do something bad? Dru- sometimes you say you did something and I, for the life of me, cant find it or realize it…dont be so hard on yourself. I cant even see anything bad. Youre good!!
This India thing is horrible…and to see that f**kface keep on talking about how great everything is while they pull bloody bodies from the wreckage, tells the whole story of everything…..
PJ,
this looks scary…is it?
OK…breaking news here is that NYC is on train high alert…what color is that? Elmo?…in response to the INdia attacks…has anyone claimed credit?
(Mom is mumbling on the phone something bad about Muslims…which I disagree with, but there is a problem with these radicals and some sort of acceptance because god told them to do it…? I cant figure it out.)
Fred, I think the point is that they only want you to use windows products on their clips…but crooks and liars has it….
I keep a copy of IE here and use it if I have to….for some things you have to.
But maybe there is a trunicated version like the little Excel program going round that lets you open those files without the whole program….
radicalism is as radicalism does… think they’re thugs, criminals – the mask is the ethnicity. my belief.
do you need to add “plugins” http://plugindoc.mozdev.org/faqs/
i don’t know what I’m doing!
Hey Fred, one thing you can try is getting the user agent switcher extension for FireFox. Then you can have your browser report itself to be anything you want. Sometimes it’ll work – sometimes not. If not, you’ll have to stoop to IE for content that requires it.
Yeah, FK, you might have to get plugins for firefox, but usually it’ll tell you what you need. The best part about firefox is that you can get extensions that do all kinds of nifty stuff. Of course, not all are well written, and can cause problems – but you can always uninstall them if need be.
FireFox can be buggy (no more than IE), and is not immune to security issues (nothing is – not even Macs, but don’t tell the Mac people ‘cuz it bugs ’em), but the extensions and the tabbed browsing keep it my favorite browser.
And you don’t have to disable rich text at the AAR blogs, either. Not that I’ll have much reason to go over there after Friday, except maybe to say goodbye before they take it all away.
:banana:Thanks all for links: #59-61. I got to see Olberman-Dean also the Ned Lamont ad which I loved:love::love:. If he doesnt take their offer and they are pissed at him, can he even get it back without goign to court forever.
Hey wanwex…you can see all the Lamont ads at his site. I thik he’ll even let people put them on their websites.
The one thing that he doest have is a STORE with signs and buttons.

we should be sure to go over to the maron blog regularly and invite them to come over here after friday….we need to stick together so that we can properly stalk him and Jim!
Melina, Someone said the Mrs. is Raging G? Is it? or #29. 😮 I said “it”. But PJ was 8) (cool). I am a literalist and a bit OCD but not about cleaning — rats.:rofl2: I just like to make clear my errors, but thanks for the .
I am sleep-talking since I had to talk to Vet and he doesn’t work “grave” so unknown if making sense but I get to go to sleep now.:yawn:
I doubt he turned over ownership of his domain name, just changed the dns entry to point to their server. Once all is said and done, he can just point it elsewhere. Problem is, I’m sure he doesn’t want to mess with it, and if they just turn his stuff off, he won’t have anything in place to sell his stuff let people know what’s up with him, until he gets something else back up and running. Maybe he has something ready to roll already. If not, Marc, you’re more than welcome to use this place in the meantime to reach out to your fans, and I’d be happy to let you make your CD’s available here, too (don’t worry, I don’t want a cut). I could just set up an e-mail order form that will go straight to you.
One thiin gI must say about AAR, though. When MS was ending, they never made a move to kill or censor the MS blog – and there were some less than kind things said about AAR and the CEO. So, maybe they’ll keep things up over there for a while. And there’s always a chance Marc will still be with AAR. I hope so, really. But I’d have a tough timr trusting them. Since he says the ball is in their court, I guess they can either give him what he countered with, or they can part ways, hopefully amicably (or as amicably as possible).
I still want AAR to survive – I just want it to live up the potential I think we all saw in it, once upon a time.
Oh. See, I didn’t catch the “it” part, Druid (and if I had, I wouldn’t have thought it anything bad – “is it, ” as in, “is it true that…”.
I was trying to make a joke becase you’d said you didn’t realize Nicki was a male, so I was saying that da wife was female, as far as I recall (but it’s been a while since I’ve seen her).
Sad about Syd, have read quite a bit about him, interesting bloke. And no, not a happy life at all.
Now the Maron Show is on it’s way out, again.
Got informed yesterday (Tuesday) that I have been here long enough to take the oath of Australian citizenship. So I guess it is time to buck up and look after my own back yard! So much silly shit going on here you just wouldn’t believe it! Ok maybe you would!

What confuses me is the use by that Sinton guy of the term “thrilled.” What kind of offer could they have made Maron that would “thrill” his fans? Very odd.
Without knowing what the offer was, wouldn’t an offer of such unsurpassing wonderfulness have been accepted right away?
Or is it in the Melloncampian sense of:
“I need a lover who won’t drive me crazy/
Someone who’ll thrill me, and then go away.”

This is such a nice blog community and I think we all must have been part of some extended family in concurrent past lives:omg:. Everyone here seems to get along pretty well and seems to pretty much be on the same wavelength. It is a beautiful thing:love:.

A RAGING Granny drive-by!!
PJ, may I post your sentiments over on Marc’s blog?
(P.S. Should we leave you and the missus alone on the blog tonight? We won’t peek….well, too often! :hubba: )
Ok M$RNC is apparently video incompatible with FireFox as Melina said above..changing FireFox’s reporting signature launches it but apparently there is some embedded object in IE that FireFox doesn’t have and it crashes. CNN’s video’s play in FireFox ( sometimes) with the same problems described yesterday.:shock:
Which sentiments might those be? I don’t really wanna tell Marc what to do – I’m sure he’s got plenty of experts filling his head with all kinds of things. I think he just needs to finish up doing the best shows he can, and I’m so happy his final show is live (just wish I could stay up to listen; maybe I can make it, but I kinda doubt it).

On Saturday, July 8, the LAPD showed its true racist and reactionary character when it viciously attacked immigrant rights activists who were protesting against the anti-immigrant Minuteman Project in Hollywood.
snip
After nearly two hours of peaceful protest, dozens of LAPD police in full riot gear instigated a wave of unprovoked violence on the progressive crowd. They pushed protestors, struck them with batons and wrestled several people to the ground while beating them brutally. Several ANSWER activists were brutalized and one was arrested because his friend was attempting to take photographs of riot police slamming a bystander against the back of a truck and hitting him with a baton. Top police brass later tried to justify their violence by saying protestors provoked the beatings by “crossing police lines” – an outright lie.
A Spanish-language media reporter from KPFK radio was shoved to the pavement, smacked hard and arrested for attempting to document the repression. The cops were attacking so wildly that even an elderly woman getting of a Metro bus was clubbed for being too close to the protest.
People from the surrounding neighborhood stopped and shouted at the police to stop their rampage against the protest.

Your love gives me such a thrill
But your love won’t pay my bills
I want money
That’s what I want
That’s what I want
That’s what I want.
MONEY
That is the only song covered by both the Rolling Stones and Beatles. Little Steven told me that. (What about Roll Over Beethoven? “One was a bootleg.”)
One great song; two fine versions.
Actually, Randi was fairly subdued about her “Florida 2000 experience.”
Those motherfuckers stole another. And they used the same template.
The thrill is gone
The thrill is gone away
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away
You know you done me wrong baby
And you’ll be sorry someday
The thrill is gone
It’s gone away from me
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away from me
Although I’ll still live on
But so lonely I’ll be
The thrill is gone
It’s gone away for good
Oh, the thrill is gone baby
Baby its gone away for good
Someday I know I’ll be over it all baby
Just like I know a man should
You know I’m free, free now baby
I’m free from your spell
I’m free, free now
I’m free from your spell
And now that it’s over
All I can do is wish you well
:omg:
Gotta go get my hair done.
:billcat:
Randi just said Brendan McDonald was leaving to produce a religious show. Maybe State of Belief on AAR? Looks like that is just one day a week.
NEW DELHI — India’s first test-firing of a new missile designed to carry nuclear warheads across much of Asia and the Middle East was unsuccessful, the Defence Minister said.
Although initially reported as a success by officials, the Agni III missile plunged into the Bay of Bengal short of its target, Pranab Mukherjee told reporters late Sunday.
The launch comes as U.S. President George W. Bush tries to push a civilian nuclear deal with India past a skeptical American Congress. The deal permits India to keep making nuclear weapons, and critics say the pact could undermine the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty.

This failure without a doubt shows their ineptness.
( where did I see that recently)
:eek::eek::eek::yuck::paranoid::tongue:
Actually, the Beatles gave the Stones “I want to be your man” to record, which they, unfortunately, did.
Don’t know if that qualifies as a ‘cover’ since it was penned, unenthusiastically, by Lennon/McCartney, but there it is.
Beatle Fan par excellance Jim Earl knew that, for sure.
Are you optimistic
’bout the way things are going?
No, I never ever think of it at all
Don’t you ever worry
When you see what’s going down?
No, I try to mind my business
that is, no business at all
When it’s time to function
as a feeling human being, will your
Bachelor of Arts help you get by?
I hope to study further
a few more years or so. I also hope
to keep a steady high
Will you try to change
things, use the power that you have
the power of a million new ideas?
What is this power you
speak of and this need for things to
change? I always thought
that everything was fine
Don’t you feel repression just
closing in around?
No, the campus here is very, very free
Does it make you angry
the way war is dragging on?
Well, I hope the President
knows what he’s into, I don’t know
God, I just don’t know
Don’t you ever see the starvation
in the city where you live, all the
needless hunger all the
needless pain?
I haven’t been there lately,
the country is so fine, but my
neighbors don’t seem hungry ’cause
they haven’t got the time
Thank you for the talk
you know you really eased my mind
I was troubled by the shapes
of things to come
Well, if you had my
outlook your feelings would be
numb, you’d always think
that everything was fine
We can make it happen
We can change the world now
We can save the children
We can make it better
We can make it happen
We can save the children
We can make it happen
:fist:
We starve-look
At one another
Short of breath
Walking proudly in our winter coats
Wearing smells from laboratories
Facing a dying nation
Of moving paper fantasy
Listening for the new told lies
With supreme visions of lonely tunes
Somewhere
Inside something there is a rush of
Greatness
Who knows what stands in front of
Our lives
I fashion my future on films in space
Silence
Tells me secretly
Everything
Everything
Manchester England England
Manchester England England
(Eyes look your last)
Across the Atlantic Sea
(Arms take your last embrace)
And I’m a genius genius
(And lips oh you the doors of breath)
I believe in God
(Seal with a righteous kiss)
And I believe that God believes in Claude
(Seal with a righteous kiss)
That’s me, that’s me, that’s me
The rest is silence
The rest is silence
The rest is silence
We starve-look
At one another
Short of breath
Walking proudly in our winter coats
Wearing smells from laboratories
Facing a dying nation
Of moving paper fantasy
Listening for the new told lies
With supreme visions of lonely tunes
Singing
Our space songs on a spider web sitar
Life is around you and in you

Let the sunshine
Let the sunshine in
The sunshine in
Let the sunshine
Let the sunshine in
The sunshine in
Let the sunshine
Let the sunshine in
The sunshine in…
Lay down, lay down, let it all down
let your white birds smile up at the
ones who stand and frown
lay down, lay down, let it all down
let your white birds smile up at the
ones who stand and frown*
we were so close, there was no room
we bled inside each others wounds
we all had caught the same disease
and we all sang the songs of peace
so raise the candles high cause if you
don’t we could stay black against the night
oh raise them higher again and if you
do we could stay dry against the rain
we were so close there was no room
we bled inside each others wounds
we all had caught the same disease
and we all sang the songs of peace
some came to sing, some came to pray
some came to keep the dark away
so raise the candles high
cause if you don’t we could stay
black against the sky
oh oh raise them higher again
and if you do we could stay dry against the rain
(that was Melanie Kafka, she sang this at Woodstock)
Mommy, mommy mommy!
How about: “Gimme a pig foot and a bottle of beer?”
or
“You don’t get no bread with one meat ball.”
Ah, the classics.

This was just posted on Marc’s blog :billcat:
Hmm, I wonder what’s up with that?
Looking at the MR blog, they seem to be sayign that Sam has a TV pilot in the works, which may get picked up, for whatever that’s worth. And also that the falafel boy is apparently infatuated with Janeane, and reporting that “…his office got a statement from AA saying that from now on Janeane will only be a guest host. So much for her coming back.”
And of course, I believe anything that Bill O’Leilly says.
Greetings All

ARREST! IMPEACH! VIGILANCE!
Rolling Stones = better than Beatles in general :omg:
I think it is an apples and oranges comparison, to a large degree. Both good; one has a propaganda machine that rivals any other. My only point was that the Rolling Stones’s version of the song was very good. (Listen to the guitars.) Not a knockoff of a mediocre song.
Susan Joy, Great Minds… regarding :omg:
(any “sleep” hallucinations yet?:rofl2::wink:)
I do like the Beatles. But like isn’t love, and the Rolling Stones are passion
So, did they ever post a full Maron for last night?

I just LOVED that one!! :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
I’ve been looking for the lyrics for years and JUST found them tonight!! My parents are both Krauts (with Mama being a Polish-born Kraut) and I swear that is exactly how they were — I think that’s why I really liked the song. It’s couched in an Italian accent, but the sentiment is universal:spank:
Now I gotta track down a copy of the recording. I MUST have one to leave for my unborn grandchildren!! :sammy: It’s on the list with at least 50 million other things.:doh::billcat:
Ive got it if you want it PJ…I have the whole show. Just havent taken out the commercials yet.
But I cant till tomorrow AM because Im laying down….finally
Ben came over and so wehad to go out and do fireworks that I had saved for him.
So, what is the deal with Sam????
If he is gonna vacate then it leaves very interesting possibilities open. I hope to god that Marc wouldnt spit in the face of taking Sam’s spot. Of course they would have to offer him as least as much $….
How can AAR look at losing Sam, Marc, Al, and Jeaneane and not offer Marc anything he wants!!
If Sam is moving to TV and moving on in general, and Al is going into politics (unless his deal is that he comes back if he doesant win)…what the fuck are they gonna do?
They will have riley, maddow, sattelit sisters, springer…and they can add thom hartman and malloy maybe….oh god…that sounds so bad.
I expect that Maddow will jump as soon as her TV thing picks up too.
If liberalism sweeps the nation, then there will even be liberal TV shows …on cable at least.
Maybe we can have a liberal TV network…?
Happy Anniversary Granny!!
I  them both:!:
Beatles — Rolling Stones were both extremely important and “fed” our very youthful, innocent starving minds in the truth of discontent with The Lies of the “status quo”.
😀 (Just a thought:wink:.)
Syd Barrett :pent::knit::gate:Travel Well Always:love:. You have also changed my very “existence of being”.
RAGING Granny Re #138 All I can say is :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:. 😉
John Dean will be on TDS in a few (EST)
Im more Beatles than Stones….but that was my upbringing…we had stones, but Beatles were IT!!
8 years…geeeeeeze. Haven’t touched a guitar since! Hope ya partied hardy! :alc:
Susan Joy, re #121, :rofl2: In the ’80’s we would sing it for inspiration (and laughs) at college and national protests of many types.
:banana:YEA :banana:YEA:banana:
Great words (poetry) for “moral support”.
