Damn, it’s good to be home. Right now, that’s about all I’ve got to say (plus, if I don’t take Siggy out to the park, I think he’s going to wiggle himself to death). Fearing Attack, Cuba Readies Troops
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
Published: August 5, 2006
Filed at 3:23 a.m. ET
HAVANA (AP) — Cuba government has mobilized citizen defense militias, saying it fears a U.S. attack during Fidel Castro’s health crisis, even though the White House insists no such threat exists.
The island’s government, under the control of Castro’s brother, Defense Minister Raul Castro, has also asked military reservists to check in daily.
Cubans interviewed on state-run media Friday said they would fight to the death against any invaders from the north, while the Communist Party daily Granma said, ”We Cubans are prepared for the defense” of the island.
White House press secretary Tony Snow rejected as ”absurd” any suggestion that the United States would attack the island…

The US-based Human Rights Watch (HRW) accused Israel of committing war crimes in a 50-page report released yesterday. Titled “Fatal Strikes: Israel’s indiscriminate attacks against civilians in Lebanon”, the report provided additional proof that the Zionist state is deliberately targeting civilians as part of its criminal strategy to terrorize and drive out the population of southern Lebanon.
“The pattern of attacks during the Israeli offensive in Lebanon suggests that the failures cannot be explained or dismissed as mere accidents,” the report explained. “he extent of the pattern and seriousness of the consequences indicate the commission of war crimes.
”
HRW called on United Nations secretary general Kofi Annan to establish an International Commission of Inquiry to investigate Israel’s war crimes and to “formulate recommendations with a view to holding accountable those who violated the law”.
The report also produced further evidence that the Israeli military has systematically covered up and lied about its attacks on Lebanese civilians. “Human Rights Watch found no cases in which Hezbollah deliberately used civilians as shields to protect them from retaliatory IDF attack,” it stated, contradicting Israeli claims. “In none of the cases of civilian deaths documented in this report is there evidence to suggest that Hezbollah forces or weapons were in or near the area that the IDF targeted during or just prior to the attack.”

Russia to defend its principal Middle East ally: Moscow takes Syria under its protection
by Ivan Safronov
July 28, 2006
Kommerzant, Moscow (original Russian) – 2006-06-02
The following report was published in the Russian daily Kommerzant in early June. It points to Russian military presence in the Eastern Mediterranean as well as support in the modernization of Syria’s air defense system, the modernization of Syrian tanks and ground forces. The question is whether in the current context, this military build-up of Syrian capabilities, supported by Russia, will act as a deterrent to an attack on Syria by Israel.
Global Research, 28 July 2006
According to our sources, Russia is deepening the port of Tartus ( Syria) where it has a naval materiel and technical supplies center. This may be regarded as evidence of Russia’s determination to make Syria a bridgehead for boosting its influence with Middle East.
Russia has had a naval materiel and technical supplies center in Tartus since the 1970s. Vladimir Zimin, advisor on the staff of the Russian Embassy in Syria, says that the port is being made deeper at present. Similar work is under way in the port of Latakia. All this may be regarded as evidence of Russia’s determination to make Syria a bridgehead for boosting its influence with Middle East. The materiel and technical supplies center may eventually gain the status of a base of the Black Sea Fleet.
Defense Ministry sources, speaking anonymously, hint that Moscow has some far-reaching plans indeed. A group of ships under the missile cruiser Moskva (Black Sea Fleet flagship) is to be formed within the next three years. The group will be stationed in the Mediterranean Sea on the permanent basis. Among other tasks, it will participate in counter-terrorism operation Active Endeavor with NATO forces. Hence the necessity to make the Tartus and Latakia facilities ready for the Russian surface warships – ships of the Black Sea Fleet and eventually the Northern Fleet as well. (The latter will be used to reinforce the Russian Mediterranean naval group whenever necessary.)
But a source in the Naval Main Command said that establishment of a fully-fledged base in Tartus could help Russia with warships and tenders withdrawn from Sevastopol in the Crimea. In fact, once the bottom of the Tartus port is deepened, the port will be able to receive all ships of the Black Sea Fleet without exception.
Defense Ministry sources point out that a naval base in Tartus will enable Russia to solidify its positions in the Middle East and ensure security of Syria. Moscow intends to deploy an air defense system around the base – to provide air cover for the base itself and a substantial part of Syrian territory. (S-300PMU-2 Favorit systems will not be turned over to the Syrians. They will be manned and serviced by Russian personnel.)
According to our sources, Russia and Damascus reached an agreement on modernizing Syria’s air defenses. Its medium-range S-125 air defense systems will be upgraded to the Pechora-2A level. The upgrade will certainly improve Syrian air defense, which uses hardware supplied to Syria back in the 1980s. Moscow is prepared to offer Syria more sophisticated medium-range Buk-M1s as well. Close-range Strelets systems sold to Damascus last year are all the Syrian air defense system has to show by way of sophisticated gear at this point (these systems use Igla SAMs).
Syria wants more than that. A contract for modernization of 1,000 T-72 tanks was drawn and signed. Yesterday, Arms-TASS news agency reported successful tests of T-90C tanks “in a certain Middle East country” and Rosoboroneksport’s negotiations over their sale. Other Russian-Syrian arms talks under way concern two Amurs (Project 1650 diesel submarines), some SU-30MKI fighters along with YAK-130s, and modernization of MIG-29 frontal fighters. Damascus also aspires for a consignment of the latest Pantsir-C1 air defense systems designed in Tula.
Establishment of a base in Tartus and rapid advancement of military technology cooperation with Damascus make Syria Russia’s instrumental bridgehead and bulwark in the Middle East. Damascus is an important ally of Iran and irreconcilable enemy of Israel. It goes without saying that appearance of the Russian military base in the region will certainly introduce corrections into the existing correlation of forces. Russia is taking the Syrian regime under its protection. It will almost certainly sour Moscow’s relations with Israel. It may even encourage the Iranian regime nearby and make it even less tractable in the nuclear program talks.

By the U.S. actions in “protecting” Israel come what may, although many Jewish folk came from here, the U.S. has to give America to those who CLAIM they were here first– i.e. Native Americans.
I never would have said prior, but after the continual bombings has changed my vote.
I am getting tired so  I hope I made sense.
Don’t worry Druid the American Indians still know how to live off the land.. once the Russians and the Chinese fix the middle east problem for us.. err. fix us because of the problems in the middle east.. they will once again inherit the entire continent.
Ah, but after eliminating 95% of their population and consigning them to tiny plots of land, they have the right to vote and use the court system (plus they have the BIA to benevolently care for them).
:barf:
It’s about 65 or so degrees, low humidity, clear skies, nice little breeze, and I’m surfing the web from underneath my friend, the maple tree in the backyard, with my dog at my feet and birds chriping. Life is so much better today than it was a couple days ago.

Israel bombs bridges in Lebanon
Israel is bombing bridges in Lebanon, cutting off roads used by Syria to supply Hezbollah. The U.N. is complaining that Israel is destroying mean of access to supply Lebanese refugees with relief aid. The U.N. is a piece of crap “club” that are a bunch of cowards, that don’t want to take any action except for pass resolutions. I would like to resolute that the U.N. sucks. Lebanese are getting relief aid, Israel is letting relief aid come in via plane and boat. They are cutting off roads, so Syria cannot provide piece of crap Hezbollah with arms, therefore choking Hezbollah into unconditional surrender. I don’t care what anyone says, countries like Syria, Iran, Jordan, Shiite factions in Iraq, and Libya only want the destruction of Israel, nothing more. But, does the U.N. do anything to stop this? NO!!!! In fact, I am led to believe that the U.N. is anti-Israel. Here is a link to a great article about the piece of crap U.N. and their attitude towards Israel.

I don’t give any credibility to that Blog whatsoever, especially since the guy mentions “the so-called Holocaust.” FUCK HIM! And Hezbollah is known to hide behind civilian structures…which violate the geneva rules. I feel bad for the civilian losses of Lebanon, but there have been civilian losses in Israel for YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!! and no international outcry?????? Israel stands up for itself and it gets shitted on????????? Israel even warned the Lebanese to leave certain areas that Israel would be coming to, to weed out Hezbollah. Maybe they should have listened.

Well said, Maureen:
So, what’s so hard about saying, “I was wrong.”
Morning all! So I travel up and down Highway 280 from Birmingham to Phenix City for my job and I must contend with Big Rigs and their trailers. My impression? They think they own the fucking road! That impression is of course a generalization. I do (however) try to steer clear of eighteen wheelers. I’m sure SeanMS isn’t one of those assholes who thinks he owns the road. That said, I’ll prolly one day be killed by an little old lady driving a Chrysler Labaron on my way out the doors of the Target store. Maybe Druid_666 can read my stars? My car is so NASTY. I wonder if its supposed to rain in Bham? Really need to give it a bath. I hope it’ll be cooler today. I agree with Malloy. Never gonna be real peace in the Middle East. All these ppl know is war. The only reason evangelical Christians are supporting Israel is because their of this foolish notion that Jesus Christ is coming back. What idiots! 2000 fucking years! You’d think they’d have a clue by now that they’ve been duped. There is no end to this madness! If the contest in 08 is between John McCain and Hillary . . . McCain wins. My prediction. Not the outcome I’d prefer, but what I suspect will happen. Remember I’m living in the SE. A region of the country populated by religious fanatics (evangelicals) and Bush lovers. They’d never vote for Hillary. She’d just bring them out in droves to vote against her. Yes, I am in the minority here in bama. A minority within a monority. If I were black I’d be a minority within a minority within a monority. I’m rambling. I’ll stop . . . for now.
So, what’s so hard about saying, “I was wrong.”
hey you didnt aSK ME BEFORE YOU USED MY ROAD!
I drove a 25 foot Ryder truck from Colorado to Chicago one time and if you think your SUV has blind spots..:rant1:
8 a.m.: The Israeli military said it dropped leaflets over Lebanon’s third-largest city, Sidon, Saturday, asking residents to leave their homes and move north. The army said the leaflet dropping was a precursor to Israeli attacks on Hezbollah targets and an attempt to minimize civilian casualties.

When is someone going to perform extensive urban renewal on the Israelis :?::?::?:
Welcome home PJ and Happy Raging Granny Day:cake::banana::cake:
Yeah cnickthomas. I have had many close calls with trucks.
But the worst is people talking on their cell phones.
I have noticed that playing Living with War while driving makes me kind of aggressive.

:spank::spank::doh::doh::joe::joe::fustrate:
Auburn University women talking on their cellphones while driving down 280 are a lethel combination! War Eagle!
They should equip all liberal truckers trucks with a Gatling gun mounted below the front bumper. It would really be handy while listening to Sedar or Rhodes.:shock:
:rofl2:
:rofl2:
seder? i thought he was going off the air? if you ask me they need to just bump frankens ass and get seder and maron back 2 back!
Do you think I should ride the bumper cars in Seaside tonight blasting “Don’t need no more lie!”s on my ipod in my head?
one time i saw an SUV with environmental bumper stickers?
Hell running over the Escalade might damage your truck ..You know a TOW missile launcher might be good too.
Hey Seanie- sorry if I buuged you with the IM’s the other night. I don’t even know what Buzz means:knit2:
I rarely talk on the cell while driving. I dislike cellphones anyway. Just carry one around for emergencies and am forced to carry a company cell for my job. I often ignore it when it rings. hehe. Don’t tell the boss! Those assholes at work. I wished I would win the lottery. I’d tell em! I guess I should be thankful I have a good job. I was talking to a man at the Nissan dealership in Sylacauga, Alabama (where I service my car) the other day. He told me a large company there (Avondale Mills) just closed their doors recently. Over a thousand out of work. So when Bush and his cronies like to tout a growing vibrant economy I have to wonder! I sometimes wonder if I’m truly in the middle class or is that just wishful thinking on my part?
:hot:uh its just a doorbell noise to get someones attention
NEW YORK, Aug. 4 (UPI) — Three dollars is all New Yorkers can receive for suffering through several days without power during a current heat wave.
The state Public Service Commission granted Con Ed’s request Thursday to apply a $3 credit to the bills of residential customers who experienced power failures, the New York Daily News reports.
In testimony before a state Assembly committee, Con Ed CEO Kevin Burke said the utility would not increase its usual reimbursements to customers who lost perishable goods in the blackouts — $350 for residential customers and $7,000 for businesses.

Well, 3 of us are in Colorado! I’m up near Vail.
I’m old fashioned but I pull over to make calls.
People get pissed at me if I am talking on my cell phone in my parked car! They want the parking spot I guess.
I did notice a guy in a Truck with his laptop open on the dash one night. Must have been our Seanie Sean

Vail..Ewwww … Just don’t discuss politics with anyone..You have to go to Frisco or Breckenridge to find liberals. Thats where all the Vail employees live since they can’t afford to live in Vail/Beaver Creek. Are you staying there or just passing through ??:eek:
They really need to build a car that can navigate without the aid of a driver. Just get in and tell the car or truck where you want to go. Sit back and relax. Chit chat over the phone. Watch a little television. Porn if you like. Jack off. You arrive with a smile on your face! What could be cooler than that?
:priest:most people that think they are middle class arent!
i jack off while i drive anyway and youre right it puts a smile on my face!

A car that drives itself is called a train…FHWA had a project to put magnetic sensors down the line markers on the Interstates that would allow you to set your cruise control and then take a nap.. The rugged individualists ( translated republicans) didn’t like the idea of being forced into to obeying the speed limits.:yuck::eek::fustrate:
Can you imagine the sites we’d see while traveling down the road if such ever came to pass? Give the word “voyeur” new meaning!
Truckers have a birdseye view do they not Seanie?
Fred, I’m in Cordillera with some raging liberals! Ha! How do you like THAT for anti-stereotypes?! :sammy:
😐 i see “more” so to speak!
Oh, Israel does not know the Negativity they have conjured. Wasn’t Isreal created by the U.S. in the late ’40s early ’50s? That is the analogy why the Native Americans should be voicing Loudly the take over of America, by the actions of the U.S. and
?Israel? and the best land near water in that area. Gosh, the Israel stole the land. I never truly focus as now. I remember I thought the land takeover seemed strange, led by the U.S., but I figured I just was too young to understand. Now I see why so many were/are pro Palestine. I am not against people who are Jewish, but now this make shift state called Israel has just shown that once the abusee have now become the abuser and I see BY THEIR ACTIONS I am no longer in support of that mock state. The bombs and weapons supplied by the U.S. — Native Americans, you were here first like the Palestins and have the right.
60 years claiming someone’s else’s land does not make it right. Before, I kinda thought okay, but po longer.
Israel STOP THE BOMBING AND START THE PEACE TALKS NOW! Don’t you see what you are doing?
Here do not go against the Jewish people (unless the Native Americans do, including this govt) OR UNLESS a major crowd demands the stoppage of Kosher foods for the horrid, cruel, slow way they kill animals.
(We all have had to stop things, like certain animal killings — although some murderous killings are beginning again.)
I fell asleep at computer and awoke to Jerry on the radio :barf:, could this be why I am so upset? No!
I cannot endure the bombings and I do not know what to do:?:. 🙁 :growl::fist::jason: 🙁 I guess continue to call Senators, especially ones who are Native Americans.
I am open for debate, but I think I have made my mind up. I have to feed Rats and close down house, but I will check back.
The Colorado mountain resorts all have outlying communities so their employees can live near but not with the elite. Avon on the west and Frisco on the east side of Vail pass and to a lesser extend lead Ville are the communities where the servants that wait on the elite in Vail live. Before they discontinued operations in 1999 Minturn was a railroad town for adding pusher locomotives to get trains over Tennessee pass so a lot of Vial/Beaver creek workers lived there but Bob Anschutz who owned the Southern Pacific at the time made it into another resort community ( strange how that worked) .. The people who work in Aspen live in Carbondale and Glenwood Springs.. Carbondale was a coal mining town.. Both Aspen and Vail have local bus service to there servant communities so they can pay the people less and make sure they get to work in the winter time.:eek::yuck:
yep Fred, my brother was one of “those” living on the outskirts. But I also have relatives who “made it” from nothing but never lost their values and it is wonderful to be around them.
HI DRUID! Israel shoots itself in the foot and then plays the victim card
are they gonna send Mr. to israel or palestine?
So I was in this adult theater last night and there was this older man upper fifties I suspect. Bigger built dude with a head of grey hair. So he was sitting in one theater seat while another younger good-looking dude was sitting in another down from the older man. In other words there was a chair between them. So this younger dude was fixated on the straight porn flick on the screen. But this older dude was fixated on the young dude. He just sat there looking at the young dude looking at the porn flick. And he’d kinda rest his hand on the raised cushion on the seat between them moving it ever closer to the younger dude. It was something to watch. More like paint drying but fascinating nonetheless. I kept wondering why the older dude just didn’t ask the younger guy if he wanted to get it on? This went on the whole time I was there. For the better part of an hour. Perhaps two. I lose track of time. I had my fun but on my way out checked the progress of the older man. Nothing had seemed to change. Wierd. I hope to think that when I get fiftysomething years old I’ve settled down with someone. So I donno why I offered this up here. Its just something that I’ve not been unable to get out of my head from last night. I really think that adult theaters are more frequented by gays than str8’s. Or so my impression here in Birmingham.
He wishes. (says it’s much safer) The plan right now is he leaves for Baghdad around the 14th. :yuck:

See I might settle down if you str8 ppl would allow gays to marry. Until then I’m just gonna have fun. cnick sticks his tongue out at the str8 ppl!

From the Boston Globe this morning:
WASHINGTON — The Sept. 11 commission was so frustrated
with repeated misstatements by the Pentagon and Federal Aviation Administration about their response to the 2001 terror attacks that it considered an investigation into possible deception, the panel’s chairmen say in a new book.
Republican Thomas Kean and Democrat Lee Hamilton also say in “Without Precedent” that their panel was too soft in questioning former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani — and that the 20-month investigation may have suffered for it.
Last night 4 of the widows said they they now think the entire 9/11 report is suspect.
It certainly makes one wonder whether their recommendations are useful.

It is finally time. After years of internal arguments, confusion, and dithering, the time has come for a full-fledged international boycott of Israel. Good cause for a boycott has, of course, been in place for decades, as a raft of initiatives already attests. But Israel’s war crimes are now so shocking, its extremism so clear, the suffering so great, the UN so helpless, and the international community’s need to contain Israel’s behavior so urgent and compelling, that the time for global action has matured. A coordinated movement of divestment, sanctions, and boycotts against Israel must convene to contain not only Israel’s aggressive acts and crimes against humanitarian law but also, as in South Africa, its founding racist logics that inspired and still drive the entire Palestinian problem.

NickiRose, As Travis would say, “Let’s throw it down”. I am glad you spoke up and want to reread your post to “get my dukes up” I have a fresh large cup of tea:joe:!
From Raw Story this morning on the 9/11 commisssion:
The commission disagreed as to how to characterize al-Qaida’s motives for attacking the U.S., with Hamilton arguing that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the presence of U.S. forces in the Middle East were major contributors.
Unidentified members believed that “listing U.S. support for Israel as a root cause of al-Qaida’s opposition to the United States indicated that the United States should reassess that policy,” which those commission members did not want.
Ultimately, the panel made a brief statement noting that U.S. policy regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and Iraq are “dominant staples of popular commentary across the Arab and Muslim world.”
Re 108: I just believe in equality. That all men are created equal. And so as long as gays are treated as second class tax paying citizens of this country we cannot be considered as equal. I don’t seek privilege. Only to be treated like every other American citizen. How does gay marriage threaten anyone? How does fulfilling the words of our founding fathers hurt this country?
Druid,
I have always thought that a civil recognition of a partnership should be available to all couples. And, it should confer the legal responsibilities and privileges on the couple that marriage does presently. Marriage should be a word applied only to those who do it in a religious institution.
sblueheron, I saw your’s and answered … Haven’t checked for FK but i will pass on any info “If they want me…” from Labyrinth ;-)
But again you are running sooo:!::?::!::?::!::?::wink:
Is “civil recognition of a partnership” available everywhere in the US for those who want such a recognition?
If not, why not?
Oh I don’t see marriage to be purely a Christian rite. It has moved from that. Witness many a marriage being performed in a Courthouse by a Justice of the peace or Probate official. I do not think any Pastor, Preacher or objecting religious person should be compelled to perform a gay marriage. As for marriage? Seems divorce is more threatening to marriage than anything else. Whatever happened to “For better or worse, richer or poorer, till death do us part?” Seems no one considers the giant step one is taking before making the leap to marriage. If they did they’d surely realize that forever is a long time. So they just figure that if it doesn’t work out they can march down and get a divorce. Pity the man that gets married, has three children and then decides he doesn’t want to be married anymore. Serves him right for not thinking with the head on his head instead of the one between his legs.

I am a Rev in the Druid faith. And it is up to whatever one believes – but God makes the decision not mere mortals. I have been married for :wink: 21 years to a man (I being a woman and my relationships only previously lasted maybe 2 1/2 years till…) people are playing God and causing such anguish and it all so illogical and does not make sense to me:?:
oh hey i found an old notebook from around election 2004 time i wrote my position then read my election guide book and compared my opinions with the opinions held by the candidates even though i was an obvious Nader supporter i voted for kerry anyway FUCK BUSH!
anyway heres 1 of my positions from back in the day!
Agriculture
Stop cities outward growth into farmlands. (Atlanta is a good example of a city growing into the rural areas)[right farmerkat!] Keep subsidies for small family farmers and eliminate subsidies for large agri-business corporations. We must stop the seizure of american farmland by big business! no franken-food! oh uh hey speaking of franken-food i was eating an almond joy made with milk-chocolate the other day!
hey cnick have you been to jeffy’s blog? i dont thin you will like it! but uh here go enjoy get pissed off and leave mean comments! (click the links)
NickiRose , How can we debate when you post something like #110:?: 😉
Christians belive the bible to be the word of God. They believe homosexuality is a sin. Somehow it seems to be sin #1. I do not believe the bible to be the word of God. I do however believe in a God. One does not need a book written by men to prove the existence of God. I witness the beauty of God when I look up into the night sky and see the twinkle of stars. When I see the beauty of flowers and of birds and of you and me. And I believe in the words of our constitution. That we are free to worship as we see fit as citizens of this country. Freedom of religion. Christianity is not the only religion practiced in this country. It is not the official religion of the United States of America. We are not a theocracy yet. Though some may wish to led us this way. So I do not accept the Chrisitan teaching that homosexuality is a sin. And thus I as a citizen of this country, this secular country should be afforded the same rights as every other citizen. It is as simple as that.
“The significant problems we have cannot be solved at the same level of thinking with which we created them.”

What is the debate? All nations play the victim card when they can to further their needs. Israel is a nation. Therefore…

Was the movie “Passion of the Christ” anti-semitic?
(I would not know because I did not watch that glorified snuff film.)
:priest:i loved the passion of the christ i thought it was great! (thats an honest opinion from a former altar-boy and no i was not molested!)
Was the movie anti-semitic?
i didnt think it was anti-semetic either i thought it was a movie that properly depicted the words in the bible albeit in a strikingly realistic way
I scored 25 on that Beast within test. All E’s. According to the results, I am a monster.
Was it self-hating. I mean, the main character was a …
Have you read the visions of Catherine Emmerich?
hey me and nicki are both NAZI”S!
huh no never read the visions…… and dont know quite what you mean by self hating?
I did not see Passion of the Christ so I cannot speak of it here. I wonder if Mel Gibson was more concerned with the movies message or did he know that he would have a money maker in producing this film? We cannot underestimate the power of the Church. Democrats did in 04 and it cost them the election.
I thought Diebold cost the Dems the elections in 2004.
Power of the church keeps civil unions from becoming standard in the US.
cnickthomas, Many Gays and Lesbians want the Christian Marriage and it distresses them, and I personally think, as now I think some Methodists think also, that to use the word God, in whatever that means to one, and Gays and Lesbians have always been and are part of the whole, thus SHOULD be treated and married by whoever in whatever (and in a church, if they wish).
I can marry anyone so how dare this government tell me it is not as valued as the man and woman I marry. Attitude showing  :rofl2:
Those Emmerich books are thick–and boring. No pictures in my copies, either.
I think Diebold was a problem that could have been overcome had Christians not gone out in mass to vote against Kerry. I think it is interesting to hear reports on CNN now of the problems with electronic voting machines. If there are problems now then there were problems then. Duh!
:banana:i bought FUBAR americas right wing nightmare yesterday! i think i might take quotes out of context from it for jeffy’s next blog.
If youve made it this far none of this has worked, you’ve got one option left. You tried the fight; now it’s time for the flight.
NickiRose, re EINSTEIN quote, although analytical each man, woman, and child deaths TORTURE Me. It is wrong ❗ So can I get Israel and U.S. on war crimes?
Susan Joy, is it time yet we get the counsel going? 😉
I don’t think I’m going to venture into hostile territory. What good does it do? You can’t talk to these ppl. Their minds are made up. Thus is mine. So seems are the Israelis and the Palestinians. We will all find some porported truth to back our message, our cause, our belief system. Christians and the church use the bible. The porported word of God. Shameful that some men would claim to speak for that which caused the world to be created, God. Or is God the creation of man?
fuck this shit i cant deal with this existential bullshit! if the universe is infinite how can it expand and contract? fuck this shit now my head hurts!
hey cnick did you go leave nasty comments on jeffy’s page?
Don’t fucking talk to me anymore about this shit! There is an anti-Jewish agenda in this world and always has been throughout history. There will come a day when the truth comes out and Israel is shown to be right in all of its actions!! Until then, FUCK ANY ANTI-ISRAEL SENTIMENT!!! Peace out, good talking to you man! Wish you well!
courtesy of my good friend J dont ask me why we are still friends?
hey if i keep posting maybe i can get my number 2 back or maybe my 3 😥
I’d buy FUBAR but I hate to read. I never really liked to read. Pick up most of what I know from the tube. It could be worse. I could be watching Fox News like so many millions of ill informed Americans seem to do. We’re so out of touch or didn’t you know? ha ha No, I guess I really need to relearn the art of reading. I’m glad I’m different. I like it that way. The more different I can be from the rest of the world the more I like it.
NickiRose, re visions of Catherine Emmerich, I do not believe she is valid with her supposed “sight”. Did I ever tell you at age 9 I was called by friendS a Catholic Witch, knew the Mass in Latin by age 6, and a major Jesuit at Loyola M U said he wanted to give me to the Jesuits except…why? Uhhh I AM A WOMAN, but he did say keep on “seeing” and doing as a witch. :rofl2: gee thanks
I do not believe anyone except for Sodium Pentothal, which I took when I was 14 or 15.
Everyone needs to eat
Who can live on six- fifty
An hour? That’s ridiculous!
SeanMS, I guess I should practice with Jeffy.
Who is Sean talking too? Me? Am I giving him a headache? Sorry if so. Never intend to trouble someones mind. I have to deal with BS every day of my existence. People are always telling me what a bad person I am for being gay. How I’m going to burn in hell if I don’t change my ways. So I toss it right back at em. They can sit around and wait for JC to return if they want. But don’t use the power of the church to oppress me and then expect me to like you. This gay guy does not roll over and does not let the world wipe its feet on me. And I don’t quitely sit down and shut up. It is to bad that there are so many wusses in the Gay community. Revolution? Yeah, I want a revolution. This country is fucked up. We have a fucking lunatic in the White house and a fucking bunch of out of touch ppl in the Congress. And the Democrats promise pie in the sky, by and by. Well I’m getting tired of waiting for it goddamnit. :rant1:
cnickthomas, Oooooo, careful, you are going to sound like me :rofl2:
cnickthomas, I am glad when one gets their Ire up. But then again I “burn” hot :growl:
yeah yeah get all pissed off and go give jeffy at http://www.jeffylikescandy.blogspot.com a piece of your mind nick!

Why are you baiting me Sean? Damnit
But if Jeffy likes Candy, I might be able to entice him:hubba:…:rofl2:
I don’t like it so STOP.
Is Jeffy cute or some ugly fat man? If fat and ugly what do I care what he thinks? He just bitches cause he resents being a turd face. Now if he’s a handsome fellow then there’s something more at work here. Maybe if I gave him a blowjob then he’d feel better and stop his bitching? I’m an excellent cocksucker!
I am suppose to be asleep hours ago, so I’m not at fault teehee :rofl2:
well i figure you will trash my evil republican penguin friend and he doesnt have any comments on his horrible gay-bashing blog somebody needs to put that antarctic fucker in his place!

So Jeffy is your alter ego? I thought it was funny that Jeffy has a link to Marc Maron’s site! So do you really hate gay people Sean? We seem to get along. I might even suck your cock too if you are cute and in this neck of the woods! Am I joking? You figure it out. Silly man. So are there lots of gay truck drivers out there Sean? Would you be interested in being interviewed for my next podcast. I need a good telephone interview. It might be fun. Email me at rhubbar7@yahoo.com and let me know. I’ll be around.

Happy B-day RG! :cake::banana:
Hey Druid and Cnick! Melina and SJ and Sean and PJ.
I feel like “what’s her face” on Romper Room! 😆
Melina, how’s the Menagerie? I am missing something? Does everytime someone wants to post you have to re-register a blogspot? I can never find me again so eek:growl: I did try a few times but after 3 times, I move on to something else.:grin:
I am usually not a great believer in conspiracy theories, but if a mainstreamer like Bobby Kennedy can be believed, 80,000 Kerry votes were flipped to Bush in Ohio. This in itself cost Kerry the election. There is more.
I am not arguing with anyone about the power of fundamentalist Christianity in this country. It is a major force behind the no legalization of gay marriage thing.
Kristapea, I have no idea why I am still up, but it is so neet to be up when there is a “bunch” of posters :rofl2::wink:
Blood libels are allegations that a particular group kills people as a form of human sacrifice, and uses their blood in various rituals. The alleged victims are often children.
Jews are the most common target of blood libels, but many other groups have been accused, including Christians, Cathars, Carthaginians, Knights Templar, Witches, Christian heretics, Roma, Wiccans, Druids, neopagans, Satanists, and evangelical Protestant missionaries.
I never understood the animosity towards Jews. I think they’re kinda funny. 😀
Hey sweet pea my Kristapea, Nickirose, Melina, all bloggers! I love you all.
People in certain places also believe Jews have horns. When my dad was down south in his youth somebody checked his head for them.
Blood libels against the Jews were a common form of anti-Semitism during the Middle Ages, though there is no ritual involving human blood in Jewish law or custom. Though the first recorded instance was in the writings of Apion, who claimed that the Jews sacrificed Greek victims in the Temple, there are no existent records of the blood libel against the Jews from that period until the legend surrounding William of Norwich in the 12th century, but the libel afterward became an increasingly common accusation. In many cases, anti-Semitic blood libels served as the basis for a blood libel cult, in which the alleged victim of human sacrifice was worshipped as a Christian martyr, but the claim has pre-Christian origins. Many Jews were killed as a result of false blood libels, which continued into the 20th century, with the Beilis Trial in Russia and the Kielce pogrom in Poland, and the persistence of blood libel stories in the Arab world.
The blood libel resurfaced in the work of Anne Catherine Emmerich (1774-1824), a German Catholic nun and alleged visionary, when she commented (pp 547-8) in her biography that an elderly Jewish woman had told her that the blood libel was “true” and that Jews “did’ steal Christian children for use in ritual sacrifices. Emmerich’s The Dolorous Passion of Our Lord Jesus Christ was a key source for Mel Gibson’s Passion of the Christ.
:cake::cake: HAPPY BIRTHDAY Raging Granny
:cake::cake: HAPPY BIRTHDAY Brother Tim
I’m so glad my mom never indoctrinated me with religion. It really is the cause of so much violence and it is supposed to relieve that. Stupid stupid stupid.:rant1:
I feel there is a difference between Jews and Jews. 😀 Sam Seder compared to The Rethugs running Isreal.
Then why is so much anger and hatred toward Hezbollah, since they are fighting the same as Isreal’s fighting and, with U.S. technological bombings are the same “sacrifices”?
Jews who were tired of being accused of killing babies finally got together and created an avenging creature called “The Golum” source of a famous Jewish folk tale. The Golum was created out of all four elements, earth, air, water, and fire.
Blood libel against Christians
During the first and second centuries, some Roman commentators had various interpretations of the ritual of the Eucharist and related teachings. While celebrating the Eucharist, Christians drink red wine in response to the words “This is the blood of Christ”. Propaganda arguing that the Christians literally drank blood based on their belief in transubstantiation was written and used to persecute Christians. Romans were highly suspicious of Christian adoptions of abandoned Roman babies and this was suggested as a possible source of the blood.
In the Mandaean scripture, the Ginza Rba, a purportedly Christian group called the “Minunei” are accused of it against the Jews: “They kill a Jewish child, they take his blood, they cook it in bread and they proffer it to them as food.” (Ginza Rba 9.1).
So did you get your computer repaired Kristapea?
Earth is my body
Water my blood
Air my breath
and Fire my spirit!
No, I’m at the library. My friend loaned me a computer but I need a PC wireless card to get online.
NickiRose , I do like the debate…but I am more pro Hildegard’s thought and visions not ever to recognize Anne Cat. E., who appears to be part of the problem …
Kristapea, 😉
oh, you’re definitely fire…
Well hope you’re able to get back online with some semblance of regularity soon. I miss you here. All the gang misses you. Nice online discussions today. We’re not a bunch of brainwashed zombies on here.
Hey Nicki, Thanks for the tape. What’s on it? I’m not at home and can’t look at it right now.
Yeah, this is a great bunch of misfits.
NickiRose 187 NICE:!:
Now, we were ALL persecuted in past…that is why fighting MUST STOP NOW. Or else give the bloody land to Native Americans, they have MORE rights than just an almost 60yr Made Up Land. I usually know the past BUT PRESENT AND FUTURE IS THE KEY:!: I am just trying to understand — in future-speak. Also I am trying to “push the issue”. (Please, remember I am asleep:wink:)
But throw down your “gauntlet”, Sir Rose.
I guess i should get going. It sux being limited on the computer. But I am working now so hopefully soon. just joined The Red Handed moveon team here in Phoenix. We are going to show up at all of JD Hayworths appearances with big red foam hands. Caught red handed! Alright, Have a great Saturday and don’t get overheated. :hot:
Kristapea, I left this for you yesterday and today-ish. I have unlimited calling so did you get my email(s)? 😉
I just read the passage in Emmerich’s bio concerning “the Jews,” and the od saintly Jewess Mayr.” The blood libel charge is there, although Mayr said most Jews now realize it was wrong and no longer practice it. Mayr ended up in purgatory, where her repentant soul is being cleansed.
not familiar with that particular saintly Jewess…
From New Zealand comes another warning. Father G. H. Duggan, writing in The Tablet (May 6, 1981), discussed the new “liberation theology” which is getting the Church’s mission tangled with social revolution; with Marxist priests trying to reconcile their religion with a Marxist dogma that knows no God; and with theologians, Protestant and Catholic, trying to justify the thesis that violence is necessary in the cause of social progress and reform. Father Duggan stresses that religion and Marxism do not reconcile: “. . . the Christian elements eventually evaporate, leaving a residue of pure Marxism . . . and the ‘Christian Marxist’ becomes indistinguishable from the atheistic variety.” These authorities are sounding warnings about Marxist infiltration. However, if Marxists are adept at penetrating the Christian citadel, humanists and liberal Modernists are in there, too. Homer Duncan, in Secular Humanism (1979), informs us how they operate: The false teachers in the Christian Churches do not generally call themselves humanists, but are more commonly known as modernists or liberals. Unlike the humanists, most liberals do believe in God: not the God of the Bible, but a god of their own invention and imagination. They deny the supernatural fundamentals of Christianity. If they are in, how did they do it? How could these antitheses of Christianity enter into and thrive within the Christian stronghold? It seems Christians made it easy for them. Marxism, Humanism and Modernism, all three are fruit of the same root—the General Theory of Evolution. As Christians “progressed” into evolutionism, the fruit seemed less repugnant; and, for some, tempting. Infiltration was not noticed. The ominous three slid into positions of influence. There remains one burning question: How did the Christian mind embrace the essentially infidel theory of evolution?
Krista, did you look on ebay for a wireless card thing for your computer?….they keep updating the wirelesss o there should be all sorts of the one that you need available for a fraction of the cost….do you need the wirelesss base station too because I have one in ….I thin its wireless B, which is not as good as G or supposedly the upcoming N….but if y oure just attaching it to your own cable modem in your house and then adding a wireless card to your laptop then its fine….just maybe not as able to connect anywher eyou go.
Dru, what did you say abotu blogspot? Were you looking for my blog or your own blog. I dont have to sign in from my computer but if Im someplace else at a different computer I do. And its always hard to sign in….
Animals are great today so far….the new baby Jardine parrot os such a doll, but also a baby…just learning to perch, so she is all fumbling and falling and cuddly.
I think Im gonna call her Kitty….Im trying it out anyway……
I have to write numerous political letters, also
if one goes to Costco, please Complain a n d WRITE TO MAIN OFFICE to complain the is no recycled paper products, especially in back to school section. I ran out of recycled “writing” paper (even would use recycled computer paper) — but this store had nothing recycled:!: But they said they had recycable paper 😮 = RAW PAPER and if I hadn’t catch that he was saying all is “recycable”. :jerk:
[Anne Catherine Emmerich] commented (pp 547-8) in her biography that an elderly Jewish woman had told her that the blood libel was “true” and that Jews “did’ steal Christian children for use in ritual sacrifices.
Fairly good summary. Although the blood libel stuff is clearly there, the passage also stressed foregiveness and other Christian qualities (dogma) such as that people who have not heard the message of Jesus, but who are righteous, can go to Heaven. No hope for anybody on this blog, I am sure.
re #180 i never heard about the blood libel before, :growl: :smack:
it’s truly unbelievable what people will come up with generation after generation. :fu: 😡
Krista- if youre still around…definitely check out ebay because they have a ton of that stuff…alot of it new…for really cheap.
Just only use people with high feedback numbers, but alot of companies are liquidating and you can get a wireless b/g card for less than $20….it just depends on which kind you need. Im gonna go and look for my router…though there are similar routers for as low as $1 starting plus shipping….I dont know if they can even give this stuff away…alot of it new. I got my old laptop a couple of keyboards and a great hard drive brand new on ebay, for a fraction of the cost, and from real computer companies with high feedback.
Melina, Kitty is perfect (altough you are the naming Mom:wink:). The reason why Kitty is so funny, is with all the :billcat: I always wanted to have my husband get a parrot, since they can “tame”/or beat up a cat…:rofl2:
It takes me forever to type so I will answer blogspot stuff in a sec 😉
Religion is going to be “infiltrated” no matter what churches do…they grow and change, and humanism “infiltration” is one way of embracing the challenges of the modern world without being caught in the negative aspects of the past… all religions change. They have to. There’s no way around it.
Sir Rose, No hope for anybody on this blog, I am sure. :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
I’m certain I’m not going to heaven. I just have too many strikes against me at this point…
Well, I need to bring Lola the boston Terrier to the bird store to meet a BIG parrot…because she is after my lil ones….but this Kitty seems to be a fighter and has already screamed and snapped at Lola…so maybe this will work out.
Susan Joy, I am so glad I looked and saw you cuz I was going to ask #208, where his alter ego was 😉
yay, I’m here! I’m treating myself to Chinese food. Just ordered some shrimp kinda thing. It’s been too long.
ohhh, chinese food…Im craving some but am steaming some patty pan squash from the farm….
Just have to avoid the salt right now
News Flash: Limit your contact with bats.:priest:
I love bats…are they salty? Deep fried bat? Bats in the belfry? or the bats who live in Austin TX?
squash is good, Suzie likes.
I’m eating fried food for the first time in like a year (fried shrimp, it’s Chinese but this place makes it more like A Japanese tempura style)
baseball bats or the flying kind?
I can no longer access the pga golf scores. One needs soms sort of a plug-in. Is this the beginning of the end? RFID 666 Cards, bats, holes from earthquakes, and whatnot.
I feel hungry and kind of peaceful/mellow but also violent, somehow. I wonder what is going on?
I didn’t even hear any conservatives mouth off today, hmmm
Vampyre Bats imported from Transylvania. :priest:
Freakin holes are the worst. But then that’s what golf is all about. It’s the game for the apocylypse (can never spell that) for sure
I like vampires
Melina, Poor Lola, But that bird is “teaching” her.:rofl2:
Now, know that probably all regarding the computer is my fault, but I will still blame it…:rofl2:
okay blogspot…Now I did try to leave a comment (different times) and it directs to either have a previous blogspot site, or make one,,, To Leave A Comment…well I have one …and it didn’t work. So I made another one … and again it didn’t work. And of course once again I couln’t find me…..so I did again and still can’t find me. So I do Lurk sometimes, but just lke with Travis’ and cnickthomas’ sites I CAN NOT POST:eek: and I made a “charming” one with Classic Parchment-type paper backgound (but did a few errors).
It’s been obvious for years that Donald Rumsfeld is in denial of reality, but
the defense secretary now also seems stuck in a time warp,” writes the New York Times. “Americans who once expected the Pentagon to win the war in Iraq have now been reduced to waiting for an indication that at least someone is minding the store.”
Speaking of warped denial of reality mindsets, any Hartsville mail today?
No. I want to hurt the post office.
Day 4. That is inconsistent service.:fu:
I know. I was so looking forward to getting some good mail today when i came home from work :growl:
Uhhhh.. Editorial follows
1. Anne Catherine Emmerich was a catholic nun who is considered to be a nut case by the catholic church.. She had “visions” no educated catholic in their right mind believes in visions. She lived in the late 1700’s and early 1800.s. That was like a 100 yeas after Americans were looking for witches.
2. The Fundie churches comprise only about 30% of American protestants. Most American christians believe the bible is a story with connections to historical event’s The old testament stories are part of the foundation of all Jewish, Islamic and Christian writings. The new testament is the story of the life of Jesus Christ who’s disciples founded the Christian church. The four major books Mathew, Mark ,Luke and John do not agree in many places. The bible was not written down for probably 200 years after Christ was crucified and then was transcribed from Hebrew to Greek and then to Latin which are are not phonetically compatible so most christian scholars do not believe it is the word of god it is the word of many people. The fact most of it agrees at all is a major miracle.
3. Most Mainline American protestant churches spend a lot of time having studies of the history of the bible so there membership know it is only a guide and a story and not necessarily the way it was or should be..
4. Fundie churches are generally for those who can’t cope with things that are different than black and white. They teach absolutes and fill in the holes ( of which there are many) with their own hype. Thats may also be why they are full of republicans.
5. Most Mainline churches are very leery of saying anything about the corruption of Christianity by the fundies and its incorporation into government because under the present administration there is real possibility of political fall out.. ( they have other things to do with their money than pay property taxes)
6. Up until the Busheviks took over most main line protestant churches though of the fundies as nut jobs and although they probably mentioned something about them occasionally and noticed that a lot of people were attending them they wrote them off as a fad. Most of the Mainline churches still see them that way.
7. There are churches in almost every denomination ( including the catholics) who are O & A ( open and affirming) meaning they accept people to worship with them no matter what. Most O & A Churches will advertise that in the phone book and will probably have something to that effect in their worship spaces. One however should not assume anything with out looking around first.
Having visions makes a person a nutcase? Or was she a nutcase irregardless of that? I’m just curious. Because I don’t think think having visions makes a person crazy per se. Though maybe it’s forbidden to Catholics. I honestly don’t know.
You have to read about her..She and her relationship to the church is much to complicated to explain.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anne_Catherine_Emmerich
Susan Joy, I think it might be the ominous “weight” of a massive attack occuring you are feeling, but out of sight, but you “feel”. or something is “brewing”. Where are you?
I should infuse tea 😀 or sleep.
but I want to hear all of Ring Of Fire — Name: apropos
People by their nature resent minority groups. Early Christians were persecuted in a time when their were Jewish people, sun worshipers, devil worshipers, rulers who thought they were god. and on and on. Most minorities are really persecuted when they are a successful minority.. everyone says “why them and not me”. In America every time we had a influx of immigrants they were relegated to ghettos and shunned by the people already here. Religious minorities are even more likely to be persecuted .. The Mormons had to move three times because of their teachings and finally moved to the definition of the middle of no where to escape persecution. They are still persecuted.:fustrate:

In history more people have died from being accused of heresy than from any war. Copernicus was nearly put to death for saying out loud that the earth was not at the center of the solar system. Columbus was criticized for suggesting the word was round. These things occurred only a couple of hundred years ago. Einstein was even considered to be nuts .. so go figure.. The historical perspective tends to vindicate the nut cases. Sometimes the threat of being accused of being not quite all there has been a disincentive to getting out the thruth ,, witness Copernicus and Columbus. In recent times the speed of light as published by Michelson and Morley at MIT in 1921 was WRONG. Some air force technical sergeant found that it had to be different in like the fourth decimal place to put the DEW line radars in the right places. When he published his question in Science magazine in 1957 there were then several hundred other scientist who agreed with him.. They were all afraid of what would happen if they dared to say that MIT could make an error.

4 p.m.: Thousands of people marched in Britain, South Africa and Egypt to protest the Israeli offensive in Lebanon. Protesters in Cairo demanded that Egyptian authorities let them fight in Lebanon with Hezbollah militants battling Israeli forces. Police in London said 20,000 people joined a march past the U.S. Embassy to Parliament. Organizers put the turnout at more than 100,000. In South Africa, thousands marched through Cape Town to Parliament to demand sanctions against Israel.

India and Pakistan in expulsions
India and Pakistan have expelled diplomats from each other’s countries after Pakistan accused an Indian visa official of “undesirable activities”.
Pakistani officials said Deepak Kaul, who worked at the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, was caught “red-handed” with sensitive documents.
India denied the allegation and expelled a Pakistani diplomat in return, India’s foreign ministry said.
Relations have soured since train bombings in Mumbai (Bombay) last month.

MEXICO CITY — A majority of Mexico’s top electoral court recommended Saturday rejecting the leftist party’s request for a total recount, likely angering millions of supporters of candidate Andres Manuel López Obrador.
In the Federal Electoral Tribunal’s first public session on the disputed July 2 presidential race, the judges left open the possibility that the court will order a partial recount. The court’s seven magistrates must still vote on the recommendation. The tribunal, known here as the Trife, has until Sept. 6 to declare a president-elect or annul the elections.

Dru- The signing on and off thing on blogger is horrible…thats why I tell the computer and program to remember me whereever its possible to access that. According to the google help site for blogger its common to lose blogs and have trouble getting on.
When you make these things best to write down the info such as user name and pass word in a notebook somewhere. I often find myself flipping through nemerous notelbooks here and have been trying to bit by bit get them all to the same place….There is no good help at blogger expect for other bloggers on the help forums…and once in a while a blogger tech stops in and takes your case up and fixes it….
But its probably best to stick with the one and try to get into it, rather than keeping making new ones…because there should be a way. Be very careful about case of letters in sign in names etc…and also spaces….and just keep trying because sometimes one session is different than the next connection-wise. The blogger infrastructure seems to be hardly held together and there are lots of problems. Maybe its not made to handle this many people, but they are trying to upgrade it bit by bit. I dont love it, but its what Ive got now….
Just funny that they cant fix the weaknesses and so many people are suffering from the same things, like the sidebars sliding down in IE and the sign in problem…..

Dear Mr. Bush,
We heard you express your regrets regarding the casualties of Israel’s ravaging war against my country, Lebanon.
I hope you have been furnished with a true profile of the atrocities being perpetrated in my country. You pose as being at war with terrorism. Let me honestly tell you: Charity starts at home.
Israel is wantonly indulging in the most horrendous forms of terrorism in Lebanon: indiscriminately killing innocent civilians at random; not sparing children, elderly or handicapped people; demolishing buildings over their residents’ heads; and destroying all infrastructure, roads, bridges, water and power arteries, harbors, air strips and storage facilities. Nothing moving on the highways is spared, not even ambulances, trucks, trailers, cars or even motorcycles, all in violation of the Geneva Conventions and human rights.
The displaced population has reached more than one fourth of the total population of my country — all suffering the harshest and most miserable of conditions. The victims include thousands of killed and maimed.
If this is not terrorism, what is?[…]

Of course, it is true that there’s no real negotiating with a group like Hezbollah. It’s not an overstatement to say that they won’t give up until there’s no such thing as Israel. (Taken from BEAST)
Don’t fall for this propaganda. Hezbollah took the 2 soldiers in order to negotiate with Israel. It is true that Hezbollah will not give up until Israel signs a peace treaty based on international standards. Their goals do not include driving Israel into the sea.
amazing how much power that propaganda has…I mean people suspend the powers of normal intelligent inquiry that they apply to other issues to spread this line of lie… it’s really weird
cool little analogy of the middle east conflict!
Still on the people’s mind in the “nutmeg state” was Lieberman’s refusal to resign his Senate seat when he was nominated to be Gore’s vice-president and allow a Connecticut Senate election which Democrat Attorney General Michael Blumenthal would have easily won. Instead, had Gore and he won (which I believe they did), the subsequent empty Senate seat would have been filled by a Republican nominated by Republican Governor John Rowland. People here do not forget that ego-trip.

“Do I know you?”
Me: “No, and your opinion’s not relevant at all to us. We’ve been watching you. We know what’s good for you.”
Girlfriend: “Yeah. You sir, have to stop all your offensive tactics–”
Husband: “But I’ve been beating my wife out of self-defense!”
Me: “Oh. Well then that’s okay. Carry on carry on…”
Girlfriend: “And you, miss–”
Me (to gf): “Wait. Stop. We can’t talk to her.”
Syrian Wife: “Why?”
Me (to gf): “Cause she’s Syrian duh.”
Girlfriend: “Sir, please tell your wife to disarm, to cut this shit out.”
Then the Syrian wife reveals a bomb tied about her waist. We take off running, manage to catch some flying shrapnel in our Achilles tendons, as the two blast off to their respective heavens.
Girlfriend: Why on earth did we embroil ourselves in yet another inappropriate, futile intervention?
Two wallets and car keys to an SUV come falling out of the sky.
Me: Because their car’s got oil. Let’s roll.

:jason:i murdered the blog!
The pretext for punishing Palestinians is that Hamas refuses to accept three demands: to recognize Israel, cease all acts of violence, and accept earlier agreements. The editors of the New York Times instruct Hamas leaders that they must accept the “ground rules that have already been accepted by Egypt and Jordan and by the Arab League as a whole in its 2002 Beirut peace initiative” and, furthermore, that they must do so “not as some kind of ideological concession” but “as an admission ticket to the real world, a necessary rite of passage in the progression from a lawless opposition to a lawful government” — like us.
Unmentioned is that Israel and the United States flatly reject all of these conditions. They do not recognize Palestine; they refused to end their violence even when Hamas observed a unilateral truce for a year and a half and called for a long-term truce while negotiations proceed for a two-state settlement; and they dismissed with utter contempt the 2002 Arab League call for normalization of relations, along with all other proposals for a meaningful diplomatic settlement. Even when it accepted the “Road Map” that is supposed to define U.S. policy, Israel added fourteen “reservations” that rendered it entirely meaningless, eliciting the usual tacit approval in Washington and silence in commentary.
NOAM CHOMSKY July 2006
:banana:i was just listening to failed states today!
Chomsky always seems to come right to the point, I like the way he writes
Speculation about motives and conflicting factors should not blind us to the tragedy that is unfolding. Lebanon is being destroyed, Israel’s Gaza prison is suffering still more savage blows, and on the West Bank, mostly out of sight, the United States and Israel are consummating their project of the murder of a nation, a grim and rare event in history.
These actions, and the Western response, illustrate all too clearly the amalgam of savage cruelty, self-righteousness, and injured innocence that is so deeply rooted in the imperial mentality as to be beyond awareness. One can easily understand why Gandhi, when asked what he thought of Western civilization, is alleged to have said that he thought it might be a good idea.

:::throws things around the room in frustration:::
Palestinian Diaspora Is Cause of Conflict
By Gary Olson
To grasp what’s happening in the Middle East requires understanding two intertwined matters that are largely absent in mainstream media coverage and pro-Israeli government commentaries.
The first is the Cataclysm (Nakba) of the Palestinians of mid-July, nearly six decades ago. As Israeli political scientist Ilan Pappe noted in a recent ZNet piece, the story in today’s headlines begins in 1948 when recently arrived Jews engaged in a well-planned “ethnic cleansing” campaign, an effort documented by respected Israeli historians and unimpeachable military sources. The facts are not in dispute and have entered some Israeli textbooks. In 2006 they are again attempting to enlarge the Jewish state and in Pappe’s words, “complete the unfinished business of 1948: the total de-Arabization of Palestine”
In a forced Death March, up to 50,000 Palestinians were driven from their villages into exile, a number eventually reaching 750,000 in the Palestinian diaspora or dispersion. Haifa and Jaffa were “cleansed” and according to Benny Morris, the celebrated dean of the “new historians,” Israeli massacres included: Salina(70-80 killed), Deir Yassin (100-110), Lod(250), Dawayima (hundreds) and Abu Shusha (70 likely). Relying on IDF archives, Morris documents massacres at Deir al Asad, Majdal Krum, Eilaboun and Sasa. Asked about the word “cleansing” Morris replied “I know it doesn’t sound nice but that’s the term used at the time. I adopted it from all the documents in which I’m immersed.”
In all, 385 Palestinian Arab villages were razed to the ground by the Israeli army, including garden walls and cemeteries. Jews moved in, new towns and parks (Canada Park, which I visited, is an example) were built and map names altered. As Israeli military hero Moshe Dayan once said, “There is not a single place in this country that did not have a former Arab population.” (Ha’aretz. 4/4/69). Although Israelis are well aware of these facts, I’ve observed American tourists departing Israel who remain ignorant of this history, still believing the Leon Uris tale about the Israelis “making the desert bloom.”
::sigh::: it’s just depressing

The Middle East in Flames
by Gilbert Achcar and Andrew Kennedy; August 04, 2006
Q. It seems clear that Israel was just waiting for a pretext to launch its action, and Hizbollah provided it. Is that your view?
Achcar. Israel’s goal is indeed clearer than Hizbollah’s was when they mounted the July 12 operation. It seems that the operation had been prepared by Hizbollah for several months, as Hassan Nasrallah said, and they regarded it chiefly as a way of obtaining the release of Lebanese prisoners in Israeli jails through an exchange. It was not meant originally as a reaction to the events in Gaza — though it was perceived by the Arab public opinion as a gesture of solidarity with the Palestinian population. At any rate, Hizbollah was certainly not expecting an Israeli reaction on this scale.
Israel’s goal is very clear and was stated from the beginning. The July 12 operation was seized upon as a pretext to launch an offensive that had also very obviously been in preparation for a long time. The goal, of course, was to obtain Hizbollah’s destruction: what the Israeli army was not able to achieve during its occupation of Lebanon, it now wanted to obtain by forcing the Lebanese to do it and pushing the country to the brink of civil war.
The Israeli government rejected the idea of an international contingent at first, insisting that only the Lebanese Army should go south, thus indicating that it wanted the Lebanese to disarm Hizbollah. The Israeli strategy was on the one hand to deal Hizbollah direct blows and on the other hand to take the whole Lebanese population hostage in order to obtain what it wanted from the Lebanese government. In light of Israel’s military failure to deal Hizbollah a major blow and its political failure so far to split the Lebanese population, they have settled for a revised objective whereby European Nato forces would be deployed in south Lebanon — with or without a UN fig leaf.

As you know, jewess is an old term. Archaic. I wonder if this Mel Gibson incident is getting blown out of proportion. Jerry Springer had sensible things say on the matter. Something like, Gibson had heard such stuff growing up, or something, and when he was drunk, he let it out. I have said similar, ignorant things when intoxicated.
I have thoughts on whether “Passion of the Christ” is anti-semitic. Who wants to discuss this? Does his use as a source visions by Anne Emmerich make it so? My hunch is that the film was not anti-semitic. This raises the question as to why the media went after it so intensely?
“snot green sea” Great website
I guess I need to see the film then to be better informed..
I’ll bet you want something else, and not in the mail.
:pent::omg:
In one of the flashbacks of the film, Mel Gibson shows Jesus teaching his followers to love their enemies. (Too liberal)
The blame for the death of Jesus is not placed on the Jews alone. In fact, Gibson skillfully shows the involvement of Satan, Judas, Peter, the Romans, God the Father, and you and me and the sins of the whole world.
The film shows that no one took Jesus’ life from Him, but He freely gave it up for you and me and the whole world, including His chosen people, the Jews.
I was aware when the film came out that there was a lot of hype that had nothing to do with actual content of the film or historical truth..so i wouldn’t be surprised if the movie is not what the hype made out.

Nicki- sometimes I get a little frustrated when I see that you don’t mention a source. (Maybe capitolizing “He”tipped me off)
I copy your post into google and can come up with the potential source. Usually I find interesting reading there- so thanks for that!
NickiRose, Of course, it is true that there’s no real negotiating with a group like Hezbollah
I disagree with facts, regarding this issue! Perhaps we should no longer talk about faith and this biased issue — perhaps just the bemoaning of ALL death or not speaking of it at all:?: I cannot be here for the carpeting of your biased statements or one should make statements when someone wishes to debate, showing a BALANCED debate.
I just passed by for a second and to read much of your biased postings added to my trauma of deaths.
Or I need not ever post here and bid you all “adieu” –which is fine, too, honestly.

What’s up with Druid? I believe that Hezbollah can be negotiated with.

Their influence was as much social as religious. Druids used not only to take the part that modern priests would, but were often the philosophers, scientists, lore-masters, teachers, judges and councillors to the kings. The Druids linked the Celtic peoples with their numerous gods, the lunar calendar and the sacred natural order. With the arrival of Christianity in each area, all these roles were assumed by the bishop and the abbot, who were never the same individual, however, and might find themselves in direct competition.
Neoplatonists in the Early Christian church attempted to Christianize the values of sophisticated Pagans such as Plato and Virgil. This had some influence among the literate class, but did little to counter the more general prejudice expressed in “pagan”.
While pagan is attested in English from the 14th century, there is no evidence that the term paganism was in use in English before the 17th century. The OED instances Edward Gibbon’s Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire (1776): “The divisions of Christianity suspended the ruin of paganism.” The term was not a neologism, however, as paganismus was already used by Augustine.

N E V E R …A S S * U (&) ME:bow:Of course, it is true that there’s no real negotiating with a group like Hezbollah.
