So, looks like creepy little crazy guy John Karr was definitely jerking everybody’s chain with his “confession.” So, who thinks Karl Rove planted the guy? Whatever this guy did or didn’t do, he still has X-Files written all over him. I bet he can squeeze through a sewer pipe. So, I saw Little Miss Sunshine this weekend and I give it 3 thumbs up. DeVotchKa does the soundtrack(I missed them last Monday, FUCK!) and the movie is hilarious. Plus I loved trying to figure out where they were filming, the trip goes from Albuquercy to LA and they go through Phoenix.
Comment by Kristapea — August 28, 2006 @ 9:37 pm
Shit! Thanks, Krista. I knew there was a reason I wanted to see that movie, other than I liked the trailer all three times I saw it. DeVotchKa. Hopefully this weekend. I had planned to see it last weekend, but was in an OutKast kind of mood so I saw Idlewild instead. Weird little flick.
Ernesto is trending back a little west again, but it’s losing power. Currently projected to reach land just west of Miami. We will probably get some squalls and a lot of rain, but not nearly as much as had been predicted a few days ago.
I caved and watched the Repig debate last night. If Charlie Crist and Tom Gallagher debate again, they should be forced to wear red wigs and noses and big floppy shoes, and crawl out of a tiny car with 20 of their Repig friends. What a couple of clowns.
The Dem debate is postponed until future notice due to the storm. No contingency plan, apparently. Thanks, NBC. Corporate slimeballs.

don’t have to work till later today, so yay. So I can lounge around (maybe get other things done). Listening to Brian Mann about his book “Welcome to the Homeland” He divides the US between rural and urban in how they vote (reading also on the Internet) but also tries to debunk Thomas Franks’ book “What’s the Matter With Kansas” in asserting that rural people do vote in their best economic interest … interesting.

mr fk said the violence has really picked up when usually during this time of year it’s so hot even the insurgents/fighters don’t want to go outside. The owner of the market where they were getting their food was kidnapped.

71-Year-Old Gitmo Detainee Released
– By BEN FOX, Associated Press Writer
Monday, August 28, 2006
The oldest detainee at Guantanamo Bay — an Afghan man who is at least 71 and hobbled around the U.S. prison in Cuba using a walker — has been sent home, his lawyer said Monday.
Haji Nasrat Khan was among five men from Afghanistan transferred over the weekend, said attorney Peter Ryan, who received the news in an e-mail from the U.S. Department of Justice.
Ryan was not told why Khan was transferred, and was trying to determine whether he would be held in custody in Afghanistan or allowed to return home.
The U.S. military did not disclose the names of the five men sent back to Afghanistan and declined to comment.
Khan was not charged with a crime and Ryan said the government never said why he was detained.
“We couldn’t figure out why he was there,” Ryan said. “He could barely walk and he could barely hear.”
Khan told his lawyers he believes he’s around 78, but doesn’t know his exact age. He is at least 71, according to military records obtained by The Associated Press.
With the latest transfers, the military now holds about 445 men on suspicion of links to al-Qaida or the Taliban, including about 115 who the U.S. has determined are eligible for release or transfer.
To be eligible for release, the U.S. must conclude the detainee no longer poses a threat to the United Sates, has no further intelligence value and does not merit criminal prosecution, said Navy Lt. Cmdr. Jeffrey Gordon, a Pentagon spokesman.
Ryan had been scheduled to visit Guantanamo this week to meet with Khan and Khan’s adult son — who was captured with Khan and remains in custody — along with other Afghan prisoners represented by his law firm, Dechert LLP.
U.S. forces captured the elderly detainee’s son, Hiztullah Nasrat Yar, in a compound with some 700 weapons, including small arms and rockets, according to military records.
Khan and his son told the military panel that the younger man was guarding the weapons for the government of Afghan President Hamid Karzai. The father had said he was arrested while complaining about his son’s capture several days later.
The military said both father and son had links to the Taliban — a notion Khan once ridiculed at a military hearing.
“How could I be an enemy combatant if I was not able to stand up?” he asked, according to transcripts released to the AP.

They have received critical acclaim for years and now they finally have the same protections and advantages their colleagues have on similar shows. I would also like to thank Jon Stewart who stood by his writers and insisted they be properly compensated and treated fairly. We could not be happier to welcome The Daily Show writers into our union.”

You’re right, they do seem to have the magical ability to pull up a news story quickly. WJ is a good place to get a political news run down actually.
Fred, you have to pay more to use the phone there than to use their services :lol:
WJ seems to have days that most of the callers are liberals and days when most of the callers are thugs and/or idiots . They seldom have a balanced discussion with both a liberal and a thug on. With parts of South Dakota at its epicenter, a severe drought has slowly sizzled a large swath of the Plains States, leaving farmers and ranchers with conditions that they compare to those of the Dust Bowl of the 1930’s.
The drought has led to rare and desperate measures. Shrunken sunflower plants, normally valuable for seeds and oil, are being used as a makeshift feed for livestock. Despite soaring fuel costs, some cattle owners are hauling herds hundreds of miles to healthier feedlots. And many ranchers are pouring water into “dugouts” — natural watering holes — because so many of them (up to 90 percent in South Dakota, by one reliable estimate) have gone dry.
…
Drought experts say parts of the states most severely affected — Nebraska, the Dakotas, Montana and Wyoming — have been left in far worse shape because of recent history: several years of dry conditions, a winter with little snow and then, with moisture reserves in the soil long gone, a wave of record heat this summer.
…
After weeks and weeks with little rain and high temperatures, one farmer, Terry Goehring, watched the mercury spike to 118 degrees in his Mound City, S.D., field one day in July. That was it. Mr. Goehring, who has farmed since 1978, sold half his 250 head of Angus cattle.

Britain ‘is now biggest security threat to US’
By Francis Harris in Washington
(Filed: 29/08/2006)
Britain now presents a greater security threat to the United States than Iran or Iraq, an American magazine said yesterday. In an article on Islamists headlined “Kashmir on the Thames”, the New Republic painted Britain’s Muslim communities as a breeding ground for violent extremism.
Citing recent opinion poll evidence suggesting that one in four British Muslims believed that last year’s London Tube bombings were justified, the magazine said: “In the wake of this month’s high-profile arrests, it can now be argued that the biggest threat to US security emanates not from Iran or Iraq or Afghanistan, but rather from Great Britain, our closest ally.”
The magazine, with a circulation of 60,000-a-week, has its roots on the Democratic Left although in recent years it has backed much of President George W Bush’s foreign policy. The claim is the latest in a series of hostile reassessment of Britain by Americans in the wake of the alleged plot to bring down transatlantic airliners.
Many have been appalled both by the existence of enthusiastic jihadis in British cities and by the call from some of their leaders for a change in the country’s foreign policy.

Hi, Anastasi. Yup. I was at Bananas, right at Marc’s left foot on the edge of the stage.
I think he was funnier that night because he wasn’t pandering to the midwest. He knew we all knew him and so he let loose. He was also more G-rated at the comedy taping, which is probably a good thing. He was realy raunchy at Bananas, and it was great!
Remember the heckler at Bananas? Marc handled him really well. I also enjoyed the Bananas more because the two comics who warmed up for him were actually funny. The woman at comedy central was just pathetic. She didin’t say anything funny and was truly insulting to lots of less fortunate people. I guess that kind of insult humor has worked for other comics in the past, like Rodney Dangerfield, but they know how to set up their funny pathetic characters before they start slinging away at people.
I hope this taping helps Marc’s career. I really think he’s be great on TV. I think he’s way funnier than Seinfeld and Paul Reiser.
It was hot in the theater and it took forever to get in and get seated, but it was worth it. Luckily it wasn’t pouring outside as we waited. I just wish I hadn’t ended up in the third balcony!

TEHRAN (Reuters) – President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad voiced defiance on Tuesday

In a news conference, Ahmadinejad condemned the U.S. and British role in the

nuclear confrontation.
“I suggest holding a live TV debate with Mr. George W. Bush to talk about world
affairs and the ways to solve those issues,” he said.

Loser of Mexican election threatens to form resistance government
Deutsche Presse Agentur
Published: Monday August 28, 2006
Mexico City- Mexico’s leftist presidential candidate said he will form a resistance government if election authorities acknowledge his conservative opponent as the winner of last month’s election. Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, who has charged that the election was rigged, made the announcement at a rally of his supporters Sunday at Mexico City’s Zocalo plaza, a day before the Federal Electoral Tribunal was due to release the results of a partial recount of the ballots in the July 2 election, which Lopez Obrador lost to Felipe Calderon by a margin of 0.58 per cent.
The leader of the Mexican left and a former mayor of Mexico City called on his supporters to meet in a National Democratic Convention on September 16 if he fails to be declared the president-elect to decide what form their resistance movement should take.
Lopez Obrador of the Party of the Democratic Revolution has contested the results ever since the election, calling out his supporters to demonstrations that have numbered more than 1 million people and to erect barricades and tent cities in the capital.

A ruling today by the Federal Election Commission could unleash a “torrent” of political advertising that currently is not permitted under federal election law, according to a story in Roll Call.
Federal Election Commission Chairman Michael Toner and another commissioner, Hans von Spakovsky, 2 of the commission’s 6 members, have stated their support of a petition to allow labor unions, business organizations and other advocacy groups to sponsor issue-based ads 30 days before a primary and 60 days before a general election. These ads are now restricted under the 2002 Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act.
The petition was filed by the AFL-CIO, U.S. Chamber of Commerce and other groups. Toner argued “The right to petition the government doesn’t expire 60 days before the election.” However, the group Public Citizen warned that the measure “is part of an ongoing assault against our nation’s campaign finance laws by those wishing to evade the disclosure requirements and contribution limits on money in politics.”

HONOLULU, Hawaii (AP) — The U.S. military has evacuated 200 people from Wake Island before the arrival of Typhoon Ioke, the strongest Central Pacific hurricane in more than decade.
Classified as a Category 5 “super typhoon,” Ioke is expected to extensively damage the U.S. territory when it hits Wednesday with 155-mph winds, said Jeff Powell, lead forecaster for the National Weather Service in Honolulu.
“This is going to roll up a storm surge that will probably submerge the island and destroy everything that’s not made of concrete,” Powell said.
The evacuees, mostly American and Thai contractors, on Monday were flown to Hickam Air Force Base on the Hawaiian island of Oahu, said Maj. Clare Reed, a spokeswoman for the 15th Airlift Wing.
The contractors work at a civilian base, Reed said. No other permanent residents live on the tiny island, she said.
Ioke had winds of 160 mph and gusts up to 185 mph on Monday, Powell said.
The storm was 560 miles southeast of Wake Island and on track for a direct hit, according to the forecast.
Wake Island is 2,300 miles west of Honolulu and 1,510 miles east of Guam. The storm is expected to strike at 8 p.m. ET on Wednesday, or noon Thursday on the island.

WASHINGTON – The high school class of 2006 recorded the sharpest drop in SAT scores in 31 years, a decline that the exam’s owner, the College Board, said was partly due to some students taking the newly lengthened test only once instead of twice.
Fatigue wasn’t to blame, the College Board insisted, even though this year’s class was the first to take a new version of the exam which added an essay. It now takes an average of three hours and 45 minutes to complete the test, not counting breaks.
The results come several months after numerous colleges reported surprisingly low SAT scores for this year’s incoming college freshmen. The nonprofit College Board, which had said scores would be down this year, released figures Tuesday showing combined critical reading and math skills fell seven points on average to 1021.

Democrats Now Favored to Take Over DeLay’s Old Seat
By Greg Giroux | 7:05 PM; Aug. 28, 2006 | Email This Article
The Texas Republican Party establishment has rallied around a single candidate, Houston City Councilwoman Shelley Sekula-Gibbs, in their unusual write-in campaign to salvage the 22nd Congressional District seat vacated in June by Tom DeLay, the former House majority leader.
But the extreme rarity of successful write-in campaigns for Congress and the presence of a solid Democratic nominee on the ballot in former Rep. Nick Lampson has prompted CQPolitics.com to change its rating on the 22nd District race to Leans Democratic from No Clear Favorite.
The GOP faces a world of trouble in this race because of a serious miscalculation on the part of DeLay and his party colleagues.
Party officials initially were encouraged by DeLay’s decisions to renounce the nomination he had won in the March 7 primary and to resign from Congress on June 9. Though long one of the most powerful figures in Texas and national politics, DeLay faced a still-pending trial for alleged state campaign finance violations and ethics controversies stemming from his past ties to now-convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
A mediocre performance in the primary signaled to many, including DeLay, that he was at risk of losing to Democrat Lampson, despite the typically strong Republican leanings of voters in the suburban Houston district. DeLay’s dropout was predicated on his plan to disqualify himself from running for re-election in Texas by relocating his residence to Virginia.
But Democrats successfully sued in federal district court, contending that DeLay and the Republicans could not prove that DeLay would not be a resident of Texas on Election Day and therefore ineligible to run. The upholding of that ruling by a federal appeals court and a Supreme Court decision not to accept the matter on an emergency basis prevented the state Republican Party from removing DeLay’s name from the ballot and replacing him with a new and less embattled candidate.
Following the rulings, DeLay in early August did withdraw from the race, but that left the Republican ballot line blank — forcing the party to go the write-in route.
Sekula-Gibbs was not the only Republican who wanted the party’s support to stage the write-in bid:David G. Wallace, mayor of DeLay’s hometown of Sugar Land, announced that he planned to run. His decision to defer in light of the party establishment’s backing of Sekula-Gibbs allowed the party to present a veneer of unity, which officials say will enable them to pull off the write-in feat in a district that gave 64 percent of its votes to President Bush in his 2004 re-election race.
But only four times in the past 75 years has a general election candidate for the House or the Senate been elected with write-in votes — and it has not happened since 1982. (A detailed history of write-in campaigns since World War II can be found here).
Texas Republicans officials announced they were backing Sekula-Gibbs on Aug. 17 — leaving the candidate with just 82 days to raise the sizable campaign treasury that will be needed to promote her campaign and also educate voters about how to cast a valid write-in ballot.
The success of the initiative is highly dependent on persuading voters to go out of their way to maintain their Republican voting habits. Though Sekula-Gibbs does not have DeLay’s political baggage, she also is far less well-known than the resigned incumbent.
She also is running against a politically experienced and well-funded opponent in Lampson, who accumulated a huge campaign treasury in anticipation that he would be facing DeLay. As July began, Lampson had $2.2 million remaining in his campaign account.
In addition, the potential non-Democratic vote could be split, as the Libertarian Party nominee Bob Smither presents a much easier option for voters who are unfamiliar with the write-in effort or do not want to vote for Sekula-Gibbs. Smither has said that, if elected, he would organizationally align with the Republicans and back the re-election of Illinois Republican J. Dennis Hastert as Speaker.
Smither may present a more viable choice in his own right than most alternative party candidates. He has drawn attention and praise locally for his efforts on behalf of missing children: He co-founded the Laura Recovery Center — an organization based in his hometown of Friendswood, Texas, that aids in the search for and return of missing children — that is named in tribute to Smither’s daughter Laura, who was abducted and killed in 1997 at the age of 12.
The 22nd District becomes the first House seat being defended this year by the Republicans in which the Democratic nominee is rated as having a clear edge.
TexASS used to be a blue state in the 1950’s when it was dominated by oil workers and construction workers. Now its politics is dominated by a bunch of third generation rednecks and “rugged individualists” who migrated there from the Northeast in the 1970’s living off of the income from selling daddy’s cow pasture to the housing developers.:eek:
:tinfoil:I still wonder where all these thugs that live a lavish life style with no visible means of support come from.:yuck::yuck:
The 7th congressional district in Colorado where Joel Hefley is retiring just had a rethug primary where they had like 6 candidates and no one got more than 18% of the vote. The thugs who live there are a lot of military retiree’s who have lost medial benefits and don’t like the destruction of “there” military by the Busheviks. There is good chance it might go democratic in Nov. That will be the first democrat in that seat since like 1973..
Muskrat’s seat is also in jeopardy. There is also a good chance the dems may take back the Governor’s seat too.:eek::eek:
Hey, Fred, Colorado is one of the races I follow on account of I used to live there. CQ isn’t making any firm predictions about Colorado yet, because there’s such a viable chance that it’ll go Dem this year. I think it’s pretty exciting. I remember being a Romer delegate in the eighties and I would love to see that kind of state again.
Here is what the professionals are saying about the Republican-dominated Subcommittee on Intelligence Policy report on Iran that slams US intelligence professionals for poor intelligence on Iran: The report demonstrates that these Republicans have poor intelligence . . . on Iran. What follows is summaries of things I’ve seen from other experts but I can’t identify them without permission.
First of all, former CIA professionals Larry Johnson and Jim Marcinkowski point out that the Republicans have a lot of damn gall. It was high members of this Republican administration who leaked to the Iranians and the whole world the name of Valerie Plame, an undercover CIA operative who spent her professional career combatting the proliferation of WMD and was, at the time she was betrayed by Traitor Rove and his merry band, working on Iran. Had it not been for these Republican figures, none of whom has yet been punished in any way for endangering US national security, we might know more about Iran.
It is being said that the staffer who headed the report is Frederick Fleitz, who was a special assistant to John Bolton when Bolton was undersecretary of state for proliferation issues. Fleitz was sent to the unemployment line when Condi wisely exiled Bolton to the United Nations, where there is a long history of ill-tempered despots who like to bang their shoes on the podium. So this report is the long arm of Bolton popping up in Congress. It is Neoconservative propaganda.
I repeat what I have said before, which is that John Bolton is just an ill-tempered lawyer who has no special expertise in nuclear issues or in Iran, and aside from an ability to scare the bejesus out of young gofers who bring him coffee and to thunderously denounce on cue any world leader on whom he is sicced, he has no particular qualifications for his job.
Nor do the Republican congressmen know anything special about Iran’s nuclear energy program. They certainly know much less than the CIA agents who work on it full time, some of whom know Persian and have actually done . . . intelligence work.
We are beset by instant experts on contemporary Iran, like the medievalist Bernard Lewis, who wrongly predicted that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad would attack Israel on August 22, based on Lewis’s weird interpretation of his alleged millenarian beliefs. Once the Neoconservatives went so far as actually to make fun of reality in the hearing of a reporter, their game was up.
Pete Hoekstra, who is the chair of this committee, has a long history of saying things that are disconnected from reality. Like when he made a big deal about some old shells with mustard gas found in Iraq left over from the 1980s Iran-Iraq War, and claimed that these were the fabled and long-sought Iraqi WMD over which 2600 of our service people are six feet under and another 8000 in wheelchairs. Nope.
Bolton at one point was exercised about an imaginary Cuban biological weapons program, which even his own staffers wouldn’t support him on, and at one point he was alleging that Iranian mullahs were sneaking into Havana to help with it…

When I was a kid John Wayne war movies gave us the message that America was the good guy, the white hat that fought the villain.
Alas, today the US and its last remaining non-coerced ally, Israel, are almost universally regarded as the bad guys over whom John Wayne would triumph. Today the US and Israel are seen throughout the world as war criminal states.
On August 23 the BBC reported that Amnesty International has brought war crimes charges against Israel for deliberately targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure as an “integral part” of Israel’s strategy in its recent invasion of Lebanon.
Israel claims that its aggression was “self-defense” to dislodge Hezbollah from southern Lebanon. Yet, Israel bombed residential communities all over Lebanon, even Christian communities in the north in which no Hezbollah could possibly have been present.
United Nations spokesman Jean Fabre reported that Israel’s attack on civilian infrastructure annihilated Lebanon’s development: “Fifteen years of work have been wiped out in a month.”
Israel maintains that this massive destruction was unintended “collateral damage.”
President Bush maintains that Israel has “a right to protect itself” by destroying Lebanon.
Bush blocked the attempt to stop Israel’s aggression and is, thereby, equally responsible for the war crimes. Indeed, a number of reports claim that Bush instigated the Israeli aggression against Lebanon.
Bush has other war crime problems. Benjamin Ferenccz, a chief prosecutor of Nazi war crimes at Nuremberg, recently said that President Bush should be tried as a war criminal side by side with Saddam Hussein for starting aggressive wars, Hussein for his 1990 invasion of Kuwait and Bush for his 2003 invasion of Iraq.
Under the Nuremberg standard, Bush is definitely a war criminal. The US Supreme Court also exposed Bush to war crime charges under both the US War Crimes Act of 1996 and the Geneva Conventions when the Court ruled in Hamdan v. Rumsfeld against the Bush administration’s military tribunals and inhumane treatment of detainees…

Maybe the CIA will get really pissed off and pull some their clandestine units out of foreign countries and use them here and save us the trouble.:yuck::eek::paranoid:
I hope that Bush is recognized and punished for his crimes sometime soon and that we don’t have to wait till history passes the judgment on him when he’s not around
Alternative media such as MWCNews, Counterpunch, Daily Kos, Truthout and others exist because the mainstream media are not doing their job. Or, to put it more bluntly, are doing a transparently ideological job in order to keep the Amerikan people in the dark about virtually everything. The Ramsey case is a conspicuous illustration of this situation. Here, a few high points.
From the start this story was played tabloid fashion to excite the voyeur and pedophile that has, thanks to the media, become firmly implanted in the Amerikan psyche. The sexualization of the child and of child beauty pageants as an institution dedicated to that purpose was on daily display. But not, be it noted, so that there could be a serious examination of why so many parents should be so eager to turn their daughters into miniature hookers, for the delight of like-minded parents.
Maybe that’s why 3,000 child beauty pageants were held in this country in 1997 the year after the death of JonBenét Ramsey. But have no fear: by 2001 the number annually in the U.S. had grown to 25,000. So much for learning from the news.
After the senate dems supported Lieberjecrk in the primary I really doubt that unless we are taken over by some unfriendly power at some point that anything will happen to those who make it in SBR politics. Clindork should have done something about the RayGun neocons that avoided prison too but did he .. Nooooo. The only way to get any justice is to do it ourselves.:rant1:
Very strange society we live in. We sexualize young children at an early age with things like these beauty pageants, but we cringe when children reach a normal adolescence and become sexual and try to delay their sexuality. Does anyone want to explain the weird attitude Americans have about children growing up? Cause honestly, I don’t get it.
Kiddy porn is a big industry..The Bushivecs put through some legislation that makes almost illegal to have pictures of your own children unless they are fully clothed and heaven forbid if you were to exchange them with someone else. One has to think they were protecting some Carlyle group enterprise from competition,.:eek:
But of course a deeper purpose is at work in all this. As Bush’s actions in the wake of 9-11 indicate, for us the evil must always be outside us. In Iraq. In the pedophile lurking around the playground. But never in the bosom of the family nor in the actions Amerika takes in its thrust toward global empire. Projection and denial remain the primary principles whereby the collective national psyche operates.
Projection and denial explains the parents who see perversion everywhere but are themselves the real perverts. Projection and denial also operates with parents the public blaming teachers for everything, not admitting that they are failing in their own jobs of raising kids and dumping the problems on these hard-working people. :ear:
someone told me to take my nephew’s picture off my website because a pedophile might grab the picture and fantasize about him. People, let’s get real here. People have a right to fantasize about anyone if they keep it in the fantasy state. What kind of people would worry about these things other than people who have such fantasies themselves and are ashamed of them? It takes someone in deep denial to have such fears.
When I was in Junior high school we had a young lady who’s mom was a “working woman” and she did a striptease for us in the gym at lunch time one day.. Not bad for a 12 year old as I remember. It was well advertised and well attended. Pictures were taken and circulated and lots of parents had third order tizzy fits. I can only imagine what would happen today if that happened. They would probably have to tear down the school.

Hey Melina, you’re over there on Monday.
Whoopdie-doo, I’ve got jury duty. Just what I need. I only hope I don’t get called in, which is what happened last time.

I actually think the whole Karr business was a crazy guy confessing to something he didn’t to do make himself more important to the world… and then the media jumped on it and exploited the hell out of it because no cute blonde women had gone missing recently.
BTW, in case you were wondering, the above was copied and pasted from an article on counterpunch, written by Walter A. Davis.
John Ramsey refused to have a semen sample taken when DNA testing became possible in the late 1990’s .. The Ramsey’s have always been suspected of being the perpetrators of the crime and that it was Mrs. Ramsey who actually killed her while in a drunken rage because she refused to perform in some contest and that John Ramsey was having sex with his 5 year old. The Boulder city government is very much in the pockets of the realty developers and the elite. :yuck::yuck::paranoid:
My aren’t you clever. Google is the way.
PJ Mom loves jury duty…she looks at every case as if it was the OJ trial….and she believed that OJ was inocent..
just mumble to yourself about spaceships and OJ,and they’ll let you go….mom likes to give big cash awards to plaintiffs
Clever? No. Google? Not in this case. Just thought folks might like the opportunity to read the article on their own, or save it for future reference. That’s why it’s always nice to provide a link to things for people.
Kat how is Mr holding up? he looks sad and tired….what a mess….
I might, under other circumstances, enjoy jury duty. But it’s hard enough to get back into this school crap w/o having to sit on a jury all day, too. I know that a lot of people find going to school wonderful, but I personally find it to be kind of a pain. It intereferes with my web browsing. Plus, who will take the dog for walkies?
Nine times out of ten, jury duty is boring. You sit and wait and wait and sit and sit and wait and wait…and eventually you go home without ever speaking to anyone.
The rumor I was hearing about the Ramsey case was that Patsy’s father was the one molesting the child and Patsy killed her while she was trying to get her father to leave her alone; something about she swung at her father and he moved and she got JonBenet instead. There was some talk about her father having molested Patsy when she was younger. All rumor, though, and both people accused in this one are dead so it’s kind of a pointless one now. My boss at that time thought the brother had done it but I can’t remember why she thought that.
We had “health”classes in High School. The purpose of which was to describe in some what graphical detail the reproduction and the cause and effect processes. We use to have it as part of Phys ed classes.. After about the third session some one suggested that they have the young lady described above teach a session of it. The instructor knew what they were talking about.. she got around a lot.. she is a police officer these days. We seem to be moving in reverse.:eek::eek::yuck:
those were some health classes – yeah, we had some pretty graphic and frank sex ed classes in high school (though not exotic dancers). Questions were answered with no punches pulled. We were educated. It was a good thing since what I learned from my parents and peers was inadequate. We are moving backwards today; they couldn’t have frank classes like we had now.
Ah, jury duty.
In NY, if you have any kind of relative at all [in my case, my late father in law] who was a cop of any kind, the defense attorney will probably kick you off the jury in criminal cases.
If you own a mere one share or more of an insurance liability carrier like Allstate, for example, the plaintiff’s attorney will probably kick you off the panel in a civil case.
Unfortunately, if you yourself are an attorney or a judge, you’ll probably be forced to stay on the jury and hear the case, because the judge doesn’t want to be accused of favoritism.
Just a joke, but its usually what happens. :sammy:
I am fearful of talking about this subject, lest I get investigated. Remember the situation that pete Townshend had to endure for visiting sites? There was a NYT reporter on OTM last night who investigates “kiddy porn” sites.
Does anybody know: What percentage of people who fantasize about children (view porn) actually abuse children? (It seems to be the domain of people like Mr. Ramsey. It’s the parents!)
Sex Education! DO NOT leave it up to the parents. I once knew a …
I guess if they ask me if I can be fair, I’ll just say no. Of course, that will still involve going down and sitting, wating for the voir dire. Plus, they don’t reimburse for parking and travel anymore (not that I have far to go). Mosly, I just want to call for a couple of night, and not get my number called, and then have them get their jury and release me. But, we’ll see, I guess. That’s my penance for having a driver’s license, voting, and paying my taxes.
I think that the striptease in the gym was considered as adolescent silliness.. In a time when sex was not something you discussed at home unless you had an accident. learning about it in school was really an appropriate and accepted practice. Today the Reich has corrupted the process so badly that hardly any teenagers learn about sex unless they have an accident. Now they want to make recovering from the accident impossible for most kids so they end up in trouble with their parents or even out on the street in many cases. Once again I wonder how the parents ever had a kid with the back of their neck obstructing the process.:eek::eek::yuck::yuck::yuck::yuck:
My friend’s father (a rather well-known OB-GYN), once found a sandwich baggie with the melted remnants of some caramel in the back of his (the dad’s) car that we used to cruise around in, and angrily lectured my friend that if he was using that as a condom, he was in “big, big trouble.” :rofl2:
I told him to tell him, “don’t worry, I used three rubber bands to keep it on tight!”
It’s really scary – we’ve become so prudish and fearful in this country. It would be convenient to blame it all on the religious right, but I don’t think this fear-mongering is only in their domain. I think it’s the entire country.
My friend Scott explained the facts of life to me on the playground in third grade (though he was a little off on one paticular detail, but close enough for government work, as they say).
There’s always that moment of revelation after you learn about sex, and find out where babies come from, then you realize that you were a baby, and therefore your parents… :omg:
no, I don’t trust parents to tell kids anything. My parents didn’t, and they were well-meaning but just awkward about disseminating information. I think kids who don’t get accurate info are going to be in trouble.
truthfully? I’m afraid to even google information on kiddie porn to find out statistics and info and so on. I won’t do it. I think it’s a justified fear that they have witchhunts for people.
hey melina, yep, he’s exhausted. spent much of the day outside today – he’s zapped. wore sunscreen, but not a hat (tell your mom). Told him he needs to wear a hat.

PJ, I had jury duty last week AND got my paycheck on Friday! You DO get all your reading done, though.

Does anybody know anything about NAMBLA? (Oh fuck. Am I about to get tar-and-feathered? Investigated and outed? Do not even talk about this stuff.
ha I got the “info” from Janet Diaz in sixth grade, but as it turned out she was wrong. If the dynamics she described were correct, a lot of people could get pregnant simply by “flipping the bird” at somebody! Yet I believed her for a little while because everybody else in my class did.
crest2, I usually don’t make it through voir dire once they learn i’m a lawyer. one side or the other doesn’t want me near their case. happened twice last week. 😉
The New McCarthyism!
There was a gym teacher in my brother’s high school (Bronx High School of Science) who was supposedly a member of NAMBLA. I think he was finally fired at some point. I never believed the story till it was in some local newspaper.
please, if they didn’t come us yet considering all of the crazy revolutionary shit we’ve written here they’re not about to….
I think this situation of prudishness and fear is what happens when the religious right meets the politically correct and things just go from bad to worse.
There’s a guy who used to babysit my best friend’s daughter, back when she was 7. I caught him once, during a period when he was extremely down on himself, crying into her crotch (she was sitting on a chair and he was on his knees in front of her) and telling her she was beautiful and perfect and the only one who understands him and begging her to marry him when she got a little older. I mentioned this to my friend who confronted him and he accused HER of abusing the child (apparently leaving her with an adult babysitter made him suspect her motives or something stupid like that.) My friend then went to the authorities (because he would come by to visit the child uninvited after she told him to leave her alone.) They said there was nothing they could do. He hadn’t broken any laws. But people who look at suspect web sites are investigated. I think the problem is there are too many rules that contradict one another and common sense just flies out the window when that happens.
I’ve heard similar stories to what Gypsy just related. It’s a sad place that we’ve come to that we should be so paranoid
restraining order time for him, gypsy! she needed to talk to a lawyer not a cop! the creep (the pervert, not your friend!)
there are a LOT of child molester creeps out there. i don’t believe in capital punishment, but if i did, those are the ones I’d put on the block.
NAMBLA
NAMBLA calls for the empowerment of youth in all areas, not just the sexual. We support greater economic, political and social opportunities for young people and denounce the rampant ageism that segregates and isolates them in fear and mistrust. We believe sexual feelings are a positive life force. We support the rights of youth as well as adults to choose the partners with whom they wish to share and enjoy their bodies.
We condemn sexual abuse and all forms of coercion. Freely-chosen relationships differ from unwanted sex. Present laws, which focus only on the age of the participants, ignore the quality of their relationships. We know that differences in age do not preclude mutual, loving interaction between persons. NAMBLA is strongly opposed to age-of-consent laws and all other restrictions which deny men and boys the full enjoyment of their bodies and control over their own lives.
NAMBLA does not provide encouragement, referrals or assistance for people seeking sexual contacts. NAMBLA does not engage in any activities that violate the law, nor do we advocate that anyone else should do so.
We call for fundamental reform of the laws regarding relations between youths and adults. Today, many thousands of men and boys are unjustly ground into the disfunctional criminal justice system. Blindly, this system condemns consensual, loving relationships between younger and older people. NAMBLA’s Prisoner Program, with limited resources, works to provide a modicum of humanity to some of these people.
NAMBLA is a political, civil rights, and educational organization. We provide factual information and help educate society about the positive and beneficial nature of man/boy love. Become an active member! You can help in this historic struggle!

Caramel remnants in the bag? No wonder he thought your friend was in big trouble! :crap:
All together now: EEEWWWWWWWWW.
:spank:
Perhaps the first time I heard of NAMBLA was when I read about a Gay Rights march in the 1970s, where Allen Ginsberg marched with the NAMBLA contingent.
We all know how it works: the pc/religios bloc conflate NAMBLA sorts with those like the child abuser that Gypsy describes.
there’s a lot of misinformation out there
OB-GYN! You would think a doctor of that sort would he hip on such matters.
eeek I know….
Spread that love around…:omg:
hehe, isn’t that a George Bush line about Gyn’s who practice their “loving” or something? What was that exact stupid thing he said?
Druid, I like your laugh:nod:
Yeah, we thought that was pretty funny. Of course, had his dad really known the condition we used to drive his car around in, a little glad bag condom (no zip-loc bags back in those days, either) would have been the least of his worries.
NAMBLA on the surface sounds like a return to the days of the Roman empire. Jim Dobson advocates dads having showers with their sons to show off the hardware I suppose. That must be really confusing for a rethug to do considering the placement of the head relative to the ass.:yuck::shock::paranoid:
I know: Off Topic.
(For you, Shemanski.)
Rebecca Tiktiner was the daughter of Rabbi Meir Tiktiner and probably lived in the Polish town of Tykocin, although other sources mention Prague as her hometown. Rebecca is the author of Meneket Rivkah (Rebecca’s Nursemaid), published after her death, a treatise dedicated to instructing mothers about raising children and containing practical counsels as well as moral teachings showing the author’s wide education in Judaism. Rebecca’s other works include the Song for Simchat Torah, a prayer for the holiday of Simchat Torah, and a translation of the 12th century philosophical tract Duties of the Heart by the eleventh century rabbi and philosopher Bahya ibn Paquda. Rebecca wrote in Yiddish, probably for an audience of Jewish women, and she is generally considered the first Yiddish woman author.

Hey all…now Im in the Stamford hospital medical research room:grin:
It is SO hard to read the blog and post on the Palm…especially because yesterday’s blog was too big for the palm to handle….and all the more reson to ask PLEASE that you all (Nicki) put a paragraph or so of your article and then a LINK to the actual article. Many of us are on the road and not having time to read these things…plus, doesnt it make sense to put the part that youre COMMENTING on, and then actually comment on it?…and include a link to the article. I have been on listservs and now blogs over the past 10+ years and never have I come in contact with so much scrolling made necessary by people just not linking to stuff….
Oh, BTW Kat….Marc said that he was gonna be on Conan…maybe tonight? I need to tape it so if Sam was right then its tonight….
And Im so glad that Marc will be on with Sam and Sam said that maybe he would stay for the final couple of hours….but I didnt get the impression that we were getting any sort of great news like that Marc was gonna join Sam for part of the show on a regular basis or anything like that….Im so crushed that I wont be able to even hear AAR after friday unless one of the local affiliates picks it up or I can get New Haven 1300…unlikely until youre above Westport…and how close we were to having Marc in the morning followed by Sam…..and hearing Al’s show this week run by Christie Harvey etc…gives me a little hope, because its sorta good!
But AAR let Marc slip.
What he said to me exactly was that AAR was not even trying to be competitive in the industry anymore and that it is all due to Danny Goldberg fucking everything up…I told him that it was awfully sad but that I felt that he was better to be out of it…but that maybe he could bring his show to another outlet. He said they have feelers out…but that means nothing really. He agreed that it was better to be out of it…so…Im excited to have hopefully, Replay get this taped Though it only got an hour of Sam last night….but I know how to get it:hubba: if I need to…..but Im not counting on any big miracle!
Now they are locking this room up…back to the palm…they have wifi here at least….ugh
Totally off the subject, on another forum I’ve been asked (well, the world has been asked but I’d like to answer) to provide evidence of false reporting from the worldnet website. Lime-Buttermilk Ice Cream
Oregonian
Tuesday, August 29, 2006
Makes about 6 cups
This recipe has a fresh, light texture and flavor that make it a great counterpoint to the most delicately flavored fruits and berries.
* 1 cup whipping cream
* 1/2 cup superfine (Baker’s) sugar
* 3 cups buttermilk
* Finely grated zest of 1 lime
* 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
Place cream in a medium bowl. Add the sugar 1/4 cup at a time, whisking between additions. Add the buttermilk, lime zest and juice, and fold to combine.
Process in an ice cream maker according to the manufacturer’s instructions, adding an extra 5 minutes to make sure it’s well-frozen. Serve ice cream directly from the ice cream maker. If you have leftovers, note that the lower butterfat content will make this dessert turn very hard if stored in the freezer, so plan to let it thaw on the counter 20 or so minutes before serving.
Ha. “Larry” posted this over at Marc’s myspace page:

Senate moves to give Bush more power to wiretap
Brian Beutler

A bill that expands President Bush’s ability to wiretap American phones and conduct other forms of domestic surveillance will likely appear before the Senate Judiciary Committee next Thursday, RAW STORY has learned.
The bill, which was written by judiciary chairman Senator Arlen Specter (R-PA), and which has been widely and publicly excoriated by Democratic members of the committee, contains provisions—such as the institution of program-wide warrants, and warrants that do not expire for a year—that would weaken the strict limits that currently govern the FISA courts.

Wonderful wonderful F*ing wonderful :jason::jason::jason::jason::jason::jason::jason:
Wow, I forgot how much I hate this horrible filler “music” they play on the live stream. I hope Marc’s on early.
Marc for “at least an hour.” Cool.
Yes!! An hour of Marc! :alc:
Hello Everyone, I haven’t posted in a while, but I try to read everyday.
I haven’t had a raise in three years. My boss is a scrooge!
BTW, he’s a BIG Bush supporter also!
Quick Ernesto update: the 5 PM tracking has it making landfall SW of Miami, then moving NE across the state and into the Atlantic probably between Jacksonville and Daytona. Possibly making landfall again in South Carolina.
Our offices in Fort Myers and Orlando are closed tomorrow. We’re supposed to call the emergency line before coming in, but I don’t expect to have the day off. We’ll probably just get a lot of rain, and even that may be limited depending on how strong the storm is when it lands, and how fast it moves.
Interestingly, the Ft Lauderdale and West Palm offices are not closing as far as I know. Usually those two close first.
I’ll stay up to catch the 11 PM update, but it sounds like we’ll be OK, if a little wet. Sounds good to me, especially after listening to some of the gut-wrenching Katrina stuff Malloy was playing today.
Hey Chimpy,:fu::fu::fu:
And here’s one for Rumsfeld: :fu:
Who you calling fascist, Grandpa?
Gee, a Scrooge and a Bush supporter? What are the odds of that?
Were he to notice those antiBush stickers on the rear window of my car I’d prolly not have a job. I have a “F the President” sticker on one side of the window and a “W The Worst” sticker on the otherside. It makes me giggle to pass those bastards with ProBush stickers and watch their reaction! Go here to buy your “F the President” sticker.
your boss probably cant decipher the meaning of the stickers:doh:
Your prolly right Sean! :rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
:omg:$190,000.00 -damn I don’t make over $100,000.00 🙁 :crap:
Sounds like Sam is doing okay for himself though. 😉 Does anyone know when the new schedule takes affect at AAR?
:doh::doh:$190,000 what?im confused?
Stuck in Ft. Myers in the Sunshine State
I tried to hit L.A. It must have been my fate.
:omg:
Marc up next!
You must not be listening to Majority Report. A rethug called into Sam saying he had to be a Republican because he makes $190,000.00 per year.
:rofl2: Wow. I hope to stay online until I hear Mark. Just don’t want to lose power until then. Everyone else is worried about their homes withstanding the storm. I just want to hear Marc. OK, I admit it. I am a groupie. And a lurker. Hi everyone…from Stuart, FL. Just north of W. Palm Beach.
well we all know where he is now, Camden
:doh:i read somewhere sam makes $250,000
Welcome Spirit! Be safe. Yea MARC!
Somebody record this–and circulate.
i’m a lombax!
So I hear tell that gay people tend to make more money. If so I must be straight and not know it.
welcome spiritdancer…Marc groupies are welcome. Hope you get get spared anything bad from this storm
Pass around those tapes!:nixon:
I think the new schedule takes effect the first full week in Sept.
Most technical people make between 25 and 40 dollars an hour so that’s like 50 – 80 k a year. Maybe 1.5 times that in the north east and Calif. The medium income in the US is like 35k a year for a family of three so the guy making 190k is in the upper 15 % some place.
With six kids it will cost him something like 90 k a year just to feed, cloth , house and send them to a public school:eek::yuck:
yeah, that’s what they say about Jews also 😕
Hi there Spiritdancer. Nice to see ya.
How close to Fort Myers are you?
The counter on my podcast page went from 14 down to 1. WTF!
Hi Spiritdancer!
===
hey sean, you never answered, do you like sushi/japanese food?

Maron sounds a little subdued
Hey Kristapea!!!!
So nice to hear Marc again!
9 oclock we get the dirt!
Is everyone over at the MR blog or something?
9 O’Clock Hour? What are we getting setup for?
well, I’m HERE.
Im trying to get the samcam….is anyone getting it?
:banana:I’m a little late, but I MADE IT!
I think that Sam is putting off trashing AARmanagement….but did he announce his move to mornings yet?
The idea that we might have had Marc and then Sam just KILLS me!!!
Lets not get our hopes up less than a week before a schedule change in Air America =:omg::rabbi:
The MR Blog is slow currently. Slower than here.
I gotta buy this album. It’s friggin’ great. Samcam? Is there a link for it?
I’ve been listening to Christy Harvey and Tom Oliphant subbing for Al Franken this week. I’ve noticed Tom talking over Christy! I wondered if she would snap and slap him upside the head? I don’t think they pair well. But it is nice to hear something a little different at the 11 to 2:00 o’clock (Central time) hours.
how do you get the samcam?
We will hear who the hosts on the 9-12 will be.
Maronaic Sederite Faktion.
:rabbi:
:cool::billcat::love::banana:…Marc is on …:banana::love::billcat::cool:
😀 🙁 Dramatist Personae
Hey Druid and Melina, Welcome . . . Welcome!!!

:rabbi::priest::sdavid:
Maron deserves a show! Damnit!
::does I can’t wait for 9 o’clock anticipation dance::::
This is their trial run. How’s the chemistry?

pleeeeease!!!!! :omg::fire:
man 1002 friends i feel like i am losing you to the masses! i mean when it was under 1000 i felt special to be your friend now i dont feel so special!
Hey FK . . . all are here. Hey, Travis!
they sound good together
One BIG happy family we are!
I have six friends. I had another one, but she turned out to be a trollip
Marc is best as HOST, not co-host. But it would be cool if they were a team.
Farmerkat 😉 😎
and cnickthomas :banana: 😎 and TO ALL ❗
Marc brings us all together, even those in the “shadows” 😎
St. Rudy pleaaaaase, no way
lol yeah i noticed you had a trollip! i have a couple of em!
:pent: :omg: Susan :wink:Joy :banana::pent:
School PJ 😮 School 😉
Just what the F did Rudy do anyway? Just walked around with his hands in his pockets and looked concerned. :fu: Guilani. I despise the politicians that show up only during a disaster. Just like Bush in NO. What did that ass do? Notta. Idiots!
PJ http://www.myspace.com/sillysuziejoy, I’ll be your friend
Jerry Howard is awesome; he stayed here at the farm a time or two.
howdy to everyone!
:rofl2:
SeanMS 😆 :rofl2: 😆 re 247
 YEA Dufus (Doofus) Logic
Were these guys on Riley’s show recently? One of them, anyway.
I think if Marc were gonna co-host MR with Seder he’d be more up front and center tonight. He’s laying back. Not a good sign for any major announcement. But I could be wrong!

Maron is a teamplayer.
Cool Marc . . . talk more please!
Someone needs to tell Tom Oliphant to be a team player during Al Franken’s show this week. Poor Christy! She can’t get in a word edgewise.
Almost 8:00 . . . 9:00 (Eastern)
Maybe AAR is going to call Sam Seder’s new show Morning Sedition, eh?
:fire: :fire:
:alc:
I woke up to Christy and Elephant. I thought she held her own, the main host, in fact. Oliphant can be controlfreak. But he is not bad. Those two could become a good team in time.
Hey Jeany . . . you’re new here or at least so for me. Cool new sheeple. This blog is growing!
I thought Oliphant overpowered Christy. But perhaps it was just my perception. :yuck:
Oliphant and Harvey did a great job, espescially as neither has ever hosted a radio show.
I love Tom Oliphant, for all his vocalized pauses. Christy is intellectually excellent, but her voice is just a little too chirpy or sth.
:growl:they cant call ANY other show morning sedition!
Hey Andy! I think I’ve seen you here before. Go MARC TALK MAN . . . I’m dying for some human connection.
RE 265: Kinda awkward transitions to break during the show. I hope they watch the clock better tomorrow. It kinda worked on my nerves.
Hey cnick, thanks!! I have surfed through before, long ago. I’m a bigarse Maronista, and I’m hoping (this is sooo stupid, I know) that he’s going to co-host with Seder.
**taking another swig :40:
Who is on the phone? Did he mention Morrigan?
its ringing!
I’ve been here since the end of MS.
marc said it perfectly……That Bastard, Rudy Giuliani.
I gave my Voodoo Rudy doll to a friend who needed the outlet. I must call her and make sure she drives those pins deep.
Of course, I sound like a loon on my podcasts so who am I to talk? I can respect and admire anyone willing to get in front of a mic. It ain’t easy!
That’s what I heard – Morrigan Murphy.
Is that our D6^3?
Go Seanie!!
Hey guys, if you have AAR premium you can get the Sam Cam. It’s so strange, during this news break Sam and Marc aren’t saying a word to each other and Marc’s hair is long!!
they wont let me call sam seder a jerk and they wont put me on the air!
I like Harvey’s chirpy cheerful voice. As for talking through cues for breaks: lends charm to the show. What do we have here, a bunch of managers? Ease up.
samcam is with premium but my player is only showing gobbeldigook. :growl:
stupid call screener! 😡
:rabbi: Marc looks like Jesus!
Hey Jeany, nice to see you again. I hope you’ll stop by more often. Always nice to see you, too, Andy. It’s kinda nice to be able to blog during the show w/o it being three o’clock in the morning here in the East.

You mean, Marc isn’t Jesus? :jesus:
::lights candle at the Maronite temple altar:::
Wow, what a Rachel slam!
Go Lleslie! Holy Shit!!
Seder is not a sellout!
WOW!:omg:
:rofl2:
Gay talk :ear:
Hi all. Thanks for the welcome and the good wishes. So far so good. I cant believe we still have power. Nicki…we are just opposite Fort Myers on the other coast. Are you in Fort Myers?
😎 Go Leslie  😎
I like Al Frank , he got me here … but I do not listen to his show but Better than Jerry ShitSpring
Which one of us is Leslie :eek::rant1:
Find her… ask her to blog with us …:rant1:
Oh, he used that one Saturday night!
It’s not awkward…. Gotta take a break!
Yes….but I think its like that….there is just so much that you can be totally off the cuff….its probably from a cocktail napkin from a year or two ago…or even maybe Jim wrote it…who knows?
Marc hates Jon…but he is jealous of him too…
Is Marc on conan tonight?
I dont notice Jon or Steve booking anyone who is funnier than them….
FUBAR is great from Audible because Sam reads it.
I was saving it for if Sam lost his show.
Yes, Marc on Conan tonight.
Who is leslie in the blogista world?
Oh, I’ll have to try that. God knows I have a tough time reading books “manually” these days.
YAY! GOT THE SAMCAM WORKING! (my subscription hasn’t expired yet.)
isi, i think marc is reading/focused on a computer screen.
Marc won’t compromise which works against him in the corporate world. I donno that I’d call Sam Seder a sell out. Perhaps to far.
Damn, nearly forgot! And I didn’t know there was a Samcam tonight! What’d I miss??? We’ll blame it on my preggers daughter. :knit::knit::knit:
excellent point, melina:
my inverter for my tv just stopped working bastard!:fu:
Sam’s been on Lieberman’s ass for a long, long time now. Even the movie he did that hasn’t been relaeased (that Marc was in) was loosely based on Lieberman.
All you guys and ladies out there need to be podcasting! Somewhere out there in blogland are liberal voices that need to be heard. I’m not smart enough to be that person. My voice is more for my own amusement. The real voices are among us here tonight.
Sam woulda been great on Colbert.
Start your own podcast. Or at least start your own blog. I hope all of the morningseditionists bloggers blogs are indexed here. If not you should let PJ know of your blog.
phoener, hope the daughter is a-ok….
Sean, did you really want to dis Sam?
Yes, she is, FKat, thanks for asking. I think she was feeling rather silly/guilty, so she made a courtesy call. She had stopped in at the school she teaches at, and everybody already knew she was pregnant. So she called me to yell at me for spreading it around! After some discussion, she realized that it wasn’t me, but her teacher friend.
I rather think she was relieved that she didn’t have to announce her impending happy event. And it was the best mood I’ve seen her in lately!:banana::banana::banana:
:knit::knit::knit::knit::knit::knit:
Hey-I was also down on Lieberman since way before the VP thing….man, do I hate that guy….and hes from my town! he keeps having meetings in my local diner and its all I can do not to show up and smack him!
:mad:sam called me sean hannity marc told me to tell sam that he said to tell him hes a jerk and as much as i enjoy seders program i am not letting it go until i tell him that shit its my pennance from the liberal confessional!
Pj I can send you the discs if you want. I transferred the files to sblue for her travels but she couldnt open it in any player because its got a block…but you can burn it to discs.
Well, go ahead and smack him, Melina. Or maybe dump a pitcher of water over his head (I don’t think you can go to jail for too long for that).
Harris is married?? EEWWWW!!!! :barf:
Which files would that be?
Hey, sheeple,
Marc is on Sam’s show tonight. I just got online or I would have piped in sooner. I have premium, so I will snag the nearly 2 hours he was on the show from the podcast and I’ll make it available from my blog tomorrow.
And don’t forget to TiVo Conan O’Brien tonight; Marc is on! :rabbi::bow::love:
Marc is definitely reading the wrong blog.
Buddy we’re over here!
:bow::bow:Thank You Brilliant!:bow::bow:
I had emailed Marc at his Myspace addy and told him to visit us here. Obviously he doesn’t read his mail…:spank:
Yeah, but he knows my name is Paul! 😉
Don’t joke with us Marc, Damnit! We want you on air!
Is he serious or joking?
Bye Marc! It was nice to hear you on the radio again.
Is that all there is?
Heh Heh…yay!!! I actually emailed him to thank him and I asked him if he would consider a streaming podcasting sorta thing….I would definitley pay whatever he wanted!!
That was it?? Sam’s on 9-12?? Shit, we knew that already! Crap!
“If that’s all there is . . . let’s keep dancing. Let’s bring out the booze . . .”
Well, g’night :sheep:ple. back to Deus Ex.
Seanie- Sam has been appearing on Hannity’s show….
Oh, well, at least I got a Maron Fix. :40:
we’ve had alot of Maron this week, huh?
If he would do his own straming show it would be fantastic!
was letting dorks in…i missed something…were they talking about stephanie miller in the a.m.
==
glad it was a GOOD thing that happened, phoener! :knit:
Nick, can you tell me the brand of equiptment you cought and the stereo mic?
It soynds great….I have it goin automaticaly into my ipod so have been listening to it…am only halfway through Dru though because the Franken show surprised me by being so damned good this week.
I don’t think Marc would mislead us. I bet he is working on something. I doubt the streaming thingy though. I absolutely do not understand why XM doesn’t pick up Marc’s show for its “High Voltage” channel.
Jeebus, something crashed the majority report blog.
:omg:that lady was right about sam then if he has been going on hannitys show!
I would sign up for a Marc subscription in a heartbeat. I’d also help him distribute the show in any way I could. And push some Maron swag, too.
Oh, Marc had made some comments about her back in the beginning of his career or whatever and he apologized to her recently when his show moved to LA…thats about it. he says that she is more fluffy than him and sam but people like that.
Not me….
Then he said that hes looking into doing a streaming radio show that you can do it for not much money and that maybe he’d do it from his car…which was a joke, but Ill bet that hes looking at it because Gervais did so well by startign free then charging….
Hes good enough to make it, and now is the time, because the internet radio is gonna take over.
The sets are $300…but the price will come down…and you can have a radio that is just like a wireless laptop or whatever, preset to the shows you want to hear or save…..but uts not a computer…it talks to the cable modem and the linksys.
Mr needs to start his own news service…telling the truth to power!
Sammy has been on Little *ucker Carlson’s show lately.
So, whaddaboutit, anybody else think Maron is joining Sam for duelling Jews in the morning?
Melina, I have an Intel Imac which includes Garageband to record the podcast and do the bumpers. Iweb also included with every Mac imports the podcast and uploads to Dot Mac. I have a Shure SM7B Mic ($350-400) A Presonus Tube Pre Amp (under $100) for the Mic and a cheapo Tapco Mix 60 mixer. If you use Dot Mac (Apples servers) to upload your podcast it automatically generates an RSS feed so ppl can subscribe to your podcast. All seamless and pretty easy. If I can do this anyone can!
Marc was responding to a post on the MR blog that said he should stop criticizing Stephanie Miller. He explained the situation of SM bumping Morning Sedition in LA and that he was resentful. But he has no feelings of malice toward her. That she does a different kind of show than he would do, she’s more light, chipper. He added that he doesn’t listen to her show. He said he was looking into getting a radio show together where he could stream from his car! :rofl2:
Awwwww I FINALLY got a MARC “Fix” 😎 . (I never get to see him live 🙁 .)
Hell, Id get a grant from Mr radio and spoken word to….if there wasnt so much swearing and jew stuff it could be very possible….
But first I have to get my own stuff streaming….then buy other shows to fill in…right? Can you imagine the juxtaposition?
maybe he could be home more :yinyang:
(mr that is!)
i tried listening to miller a few times and it isn’t my cup of tea. i’m just happy liberals or progressives are on the airwaves, we need ALL the help we can get – even from silly radio shows like hers.
So the tapco is the recorder?….is the mic bluetooth?
Boy those MR bloggers are a prickly bunch…I wonder how they were when Janeane was there?
Ann loves Springer and will follow him wherever he goes?…Is that a joke?
Well, I’ve often considered doing a podcast. Supposedly, I’m pretty good with doing different voices (and odd sounds). But where does one find the time?
Sorry for all the typos…I have managed to type thorugh another keyboard…or Lola stood on it to many times today….It wont make a capital m anymore…
unless I set the cap lock….I type too much….
And this is the nifty cordless one…Im trying to de-cord my life
No Garageband in my Apple Imac records the podcast. You do not want a bluetooth mic unless your wanting to produce a terrible sounding podcast! Call me sometime Melina. We’ll talk about it. my addy is rhubbar7@yahoo.com anyone else want to know more please email me.
By Marc’s on admission, he’s only got 3 years to become a father! so being home more would be just ducky for that.:yinyang:
Me, I’ve got 6 months to remember how to knit. :knit::knit2::knit::knit2::knit::knit2::knit::knit2:
well, when you consider that I drive around and talk to myself all day…and Nick is testing the technology out there…it seems almost doable.
Of course, I also have to start on the documentary.
PJ And if I ever get a “show” I will ALWAYS put anything you want on it FOR FREE  cuz you made us a home. (But don’t hold your breath since I have ONLY got as far as WINAMP. 😮
:rofl2: and will probably sell something quicker. Eek .
But I did go back to school to learn more 2year computer-ese 101.:eek::rofl2::tongue::cool:
You should also (if funds are not a problem or like me you just, “charge it”) consider buying a Sony Minidisc recorder for doing remote work. These things are broadcast quality! Awesome!!! email me @ rhubbar7@yahoo.com
I sorta doubt that hes gonna have a kid. I wonder….but I dont get the feelign that its happening. Also, all those crazy ideas about begin an old dad fall away when you actually come up against it.
She is young….so there is time.
He just doesnt seem to really want to. And it changes your lifestyle so irrevocably, including your relationships….Im glad I had mine, but I respect people not doing it.
Its such a different world now and kids are under so much pressure to excell because hardly any parents can afford college anymore.
Why dont we want to educate our kids in this country? Because its easier to steal from dumb people?
marc should adopt!
PJ you have the perfect voice for podcasting. You ought to do it. You sounded great on that phone line. I can only imagine how wonderful your voice would sound on a broadcast quality mic. People do not skimp on a microphone. I love this Shure SM7B mic. Yes, its expensive. But it’ll last a lifetime!
And Druid! What a charming personality you have. You’d be a joy to listen to. Melina, I’ve yet to hear your voice. But I’ve read your blog and you definitely have the facts. You are definitely an intellectual!
OK all…Ive got to get ready for bed. Ive had a mild migraine all afternoon…maybe am getting sick…but I have to take Will to the open house for his school at 8:30 tomorrow AM….that is not the schedule that we are on at all….
Time for all little birdies to go to bed…dogs too.
Thats LIBERAL INTELLECTUAL ELITE…according to my button….heh…
Im told I have a great voice on the phone…we have broadcaster’s voices….. runs in the family.
I will do a podcast with you Nick but not tonight….have to sleep.
Why would he do that? Adopt, I mean….I think that the kid thing is for Mishna anyway…she is young and doesnt have to worry for a few years, but women in their early 30’s who put that off are making a big mistake because the toxins out there are killing eggs…and 30 is already old in the infertility world. Ive held quite a few friend’s hands during that problem. If theyre gonna do it they should get on it.
I’m beat for tonight. Going to retire to my bed. Sleepy time. Goodnight all. Anyone want to know about my setup and how I do my podcasts just email me @ rhubbar7@yahoo.com and I’ll get back at you. Be patient. I promise to email you back. I have unlimited land line phone service. So I can call you if you like. Later Sheeple.
because adoption is a nice thing to do for a child i dont want a kid but i think i still might adopt one day!
some rollins before i go sleep sleep!
I have a SONY minidisc, and my iRiver is (or was anyway; I’ve had it for a long time now) a favorite amongst podcasters (has a builtin mic, but can also take an external one, and has optical in/out, too. And it will record to mp3 and several other formats at many different bitrates and sampling rates.
Now that I know I won’t have kids, I would kinda like to have one of my own. Of course, that’s easy to say, if you know you won’t have to actually do all the hard stuff.
Hey, blog sibs. My sick little computer is acting up weirdly and I won’t be able to listen to Marc on Sam’s KPOJ broadcast because of a previous engagement (how stuffy does THAT sound!) So I hope it shows up on mininova.org tomorrow…
I’m posting just to say that my blog isn’t in the members blog list. It’s at http://msgyspy.blogspot.com and while I rarely update it I am always heartfelt when I do.
Okay, off to babysit the little blonde energy ball in pink! TTYL
ANN COULTER
:crap:

I just heard Rummy –:omg: he is the Evil 👿
I’m going to sleepy-sleep. ‘Night, :sheep:le.
BTW, very nice blog, Gypsy.
I am relistening to Marc on KTLK
:yawn:Hey Druid.
Um, I’m about to just take my hook and go to a different pond
travisdem_04 , HI , I finally got to run in at the correct time. I have always wanted to harrass you ( teasing:wink:) much in person … I do have UNLIMITED CALLING:banana:
Uh, sure let me think about it. Harass, huh? I dunno about that.

Yeah, my wit isn’t very good over the phone, though
How was it? Did you hear Marc on the looong drive back?

Just some year, we will talk and LAUGH! I promise I won’t bite kinda (A Joke aka LBH:wink:)
I don’t think I want to catch anything right now, Druid.
Ohhh awwmann I missed the party- 🙁

sblueheron 397 :rofl2:
So I had 2 hours of the Randi Rhodes show, followed by 4 hours of the Randi Rhodes show by Mike malloy and you were all listening to:cry: Marc together
:holla:
I will be back a bit later. About the only thing I watch is “Rock Star” when on.
I blame it on the LEO Rising :cool:
Travis is mad at me-why?
Ok I drive for 4 hours and get ditched:fustrate:
But I am not alone:billcat::billcat::banana::banana:
I hope someone posts Marc on MR. I heard most of it but I missed the last bit because I was doing my civic duty and pestering JD Hayworth the big jock blowhard babyboy.
I’m eating a Linda McCartney vegetarian teevee dinner and it’s really bland.
sblueheron Just rock’n and getting Tea/:joe: … I think Travis going somewhere but no matter what I do, a zillion of you bloggers just appear and a million posts, between my ONE post :wink::cool:
AND K  😉
I like Marc and Sam together. Marc is thinking of doing a radio show from his car:banana::banana:
No, I’m not mad. I just had to take b’s telescope into the house. Then the wifi stopped working- I think because of the rain. I have to eat something.
Travis!:banana::grin::lol::nod::knit::peace::santacool::sheep::tongue:
So T:tongue: did you get to hear the MR and will you be able to see Conan?
What time does Conan come on, Heron?
Looks like there will be brollys at the bumbershoot!
Hey I had a good good:omg: day today:banana:
So will spring for 3 day passes OK?
:omg:Are you sure? I think we should talk about it first. This connection is really slow, so I think I’ll go eat something, watch Conan and then blog after Maron comes on. Cool?
Let me check and set recorder!

awwww..I remember my first restaurant job was at this pizza place on up on Broadway and these old drunk guys would always order a small shrimp pizza everytime. Then they canceled the cleaning service and told us we were going to have to do the toilets.
Well I had to find another job:omg:
Wow. :rofl2:well, I didn’t do any damage in the pizza place on the AVE, I waited until after I came back to the house. The girl that was working there said I was handling very well considering how much I had been drinking. I’m usually not a sloppy sentimental drunk.

I was and is (but 108yrs now) a dancer so I have no major problem with certain clothing hahaha. I was in a black top, black tights, and a BLACK SLIP split on one side about the style where Barbie in bondage was wearing (but I was wearing a robe open) and I was laughing with the cats and they were (who I think at fault) awake with their windows open — so I said “in your dreams — as close as you will ever get.” I think it affected me … the whole situation.
I am here but it takes me forever to type and think eek:eek: 😉

ON THE POOR
There are people, concentrated in the Hamptons and Beverly Hills, who still confuse poverty with the simple life. No cable TV, no altercations with the maid, no summer home maintenance issues — just the basics like family, sunsets and walks in the park. What they don’t know is that it’s expensive to be poor.
In fact, you, the reader of middling income, could probably not afford it. A new study from the Brookings Institute documents the “ghetto tax,” or higher cost of living in low-income urban neighborhoods. It comes at you from every direction, from food prices to auto insurance. A few examples from this study, by Matt Fellowes, that covered 12 American cities:
* Poor people are less likely to have bank accounts, which can be expensive for those with low balances, and so they tend to cash their pay checks at check-cashing businesses, which in the cities surveyed, charged $5 to $50 for a $500 check.
* Nationwide, low-income car buyers, defined as people earning less than $30,000 a year, pay two percentage points more for a car loan than more affluent buyers.
* Low-income drivers pay more for car insurance. In New York, Baltimore and Hartford, they pay an average $400 more a year to insure the exact same car and driver risk than wealthier drivers.
* Poorer people pay an average of one percentage point more in mortgage interest.
* They are more likely to buy their furniture and appliances through pricey rent-to-own businesses. In Wisconsin, the study reports, a $200 rent-to-own TV set can cost $700 with the interest included.
* They are less likely to have access to large supermarkets and hence to rely on the far more expensive, and lower quality offerings, of small grocery and convenience stores.
I didn’t live in any ghettoes when I worked on Nickle and Dimed –a trailer park, yes, but no ghetto — and on my average wage of $7 an hour, or about $14,400 a year, I wasn’t in the market for furniture, a house or a car. But the high cost of poverty was brought home to me within a few days of my entry into the low-wage life, when, slipping into social-worker mode, I chastised a co-worker for living in a motel room when it would be so much cheaper to rent an apartment. Herresponse: Where would she get the first month’s rent and security deposit it takes to pin down an apartment? The lack of that amount of capital — probably well over $1,000 — condemned her to paying $40 a night at the Day’s Inn.
