I think AAR made the mistake of starting too big. Perhaps their problem is that some of the shows are not being picked up by affiliates. If they had started on one station and made a success of it, that may have been a better starting plan.
What really bugs me about Malloy, is the deception of both Malloy and the audience. Treating Malloy so badly is disgusting.
As for the Satelite Sisters, they are amazing in their ability to be boring. I have tried to listen to them. It’s like listening to my old aunts discuss the paint color for the livingroom.

So Democrats don’t have any fresh ideas for fighting the terrorists, huh? I beg to differ. This is my plan. It will work:
It involves creating a new wing of the military called Stem Cell Recruits for Operational, Tactical and Unilateral Maneuvers (SCROTUM). A massive army of billions of specially-trained commando blastocysts.
Don’t laugh. The President of the United States considers them true-blue American folks under the protection of the U.S. Constitution. They’re just as committed as anyone to fighting terrorists over there so we won’t have to fight them over here. And, unlike all the cowardly Republican bloggers of recruiting age (currently 10 to 61) who couldn’t be bothered to stand up and fight for freedom, stem cells are rough, tough and willing to leave the comfort of their petri dishes to answer the call.
I don’t want to give away too much, but the plan involves B-52s dropping approximately 500 billion specially-trained SCROTUM paratroopers over the Afghanistan/Pakistan border. Their microscopic size means they can infiltrate any cave or village undetected. Once inside the perimeter, they’ll unleash a torrent of percussion grenades that will stun, but not kill, the terrorists. They will then use their special SCROTUM radios to contact coalition HQ in Kabul, which will dispatch choppers to haul both the SCROTUMs and the terrorists back to base. The stem cells get a medal; the terrorists just get a cell.
This is not experimental—I have personally trained a platoon of SCROTUMs. Last Saturday night they were unleashed on the noisy college kids partying across the street. My experience with Ann Curry, besides what Mr says, is that she stood right in the WTC rubble every day for weeks after 911, and she goes wherever there is trouble or a war. She is not a war correspondent like Mr, but an on air personality, and as such, she does a whole lot towards making the news more real by getting of her butt and going into the rubble. If she then goes to her motor home and cries, I dont know, but I think she is a damned good reporter who shows empathy without being overly…uh…think Rita Crosby…

I’m tempted to get FiOS from Verizon, which advertises its lowest rate at 2 mbps upload, but, well, it’s always easier to stay with what you got, and I’m not totally convinced in Verizon’s ability to offer great service. Anyhow, with 1 meg up, I could set up a shoutcast server here, and we could try doing something before we actually had to spend money. Cnick is already cranking out some content, which perhaps we could use (if he’d be so kind).

Hey Melina, if we had some Inner Sanctums or whatnot, we could stream them via Shoucast (as opposed to making them available as mp3 downloads), and then put in some promos to purchase high-quality, official, authorized, and legal Himan Brown stuff. That way, unless somebody wanted to go to the trouble of recording the stream, they couldn’t just download them. Maybe sell some swag, too.

Well, so I registered my complaint with AAR, for what it’s worth (which probably isn’t much, though there aren’t many people who’ve been registered “members” for longer than I have). I’m tempted to get FiOS from Verizon, which advertises its lowest rate at 2 mbps upload, but, well, it’s always easier to stay with what you got, and I’m not totally convinced in Verizon’s ability to offer great service.

The business center in my apartment complex USED to have Verizon. It was provided free in order to entice/seduce residents into subscribing to VZ in their residences.
So you would think the service in the business center would be exceptional, since it was being used as a sales tool, right?
Guess again. The PCs in the place were down for days, sometimes weeks at a time. Management finally threw in the towel at the end of the contract and opted for a different provider.

Liberal Air America radio host Mike Malloy had his show abruptly “terminated” on Wednesday, allegedly for financial reasons. The network is failing but there could be another factor behind the Malloy debacle. There is still fallout from Malloy’s recent decision to turn over two-and-a-half hours of his three hour show to a former associate of ex-con Lyndon LaRouche, a perennial candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination who campaigns against what he views as British and Zionist control of the U.S. political system. The LaRouche organization is frequently labeled as a cult.
The former high-level LaRouche associate, Webster Griffin Tarpley, was on the Malloy show to promote his view that unnamed U.S. officials carried out the attacks on 9/11 and blamed Muslims for the terrorist acts. But Tarpley went beyond this to suggest that leftist Noam Chomsky, a supporter of the Hezbollah terrorist group that attacked Israel, is a rich puppet of the U.S. military industrial complex and a tool of the Zionists. The hapless Malloy seemed to gobble it all up.
It appears that, in this case, the looney left became too looney, even for Air America’s backers. And those backers, according to a July 17 article in the Washington Post, were going to include the so-called Democracy Alliance, a group of rich liberals led by convicted inside-trader and billionaire George Soros. It turns out that Tarpley, who wrote the book, 9/11 Synthetic Terror: Made in USA, thinks Soros has been one of those behind-the-scenes money manipulators telling Alan Greenspan and the Federal Reserve what to do. You can read all about it on page 116 of the Tarpley book. It probably didn’t look good for Air America to be featuring someone who has been critical of the network’s hoped-for financial savior.

Are you getting on my case for calling people on their blatant racism?
WWRL still hasn’t put up a schedule for Monday. It’s up to them, since they are the affiliate, what AAR programs they will carry and apparently they won’t carry all the AAR programming choices.
AAR still has the old Monday – Friday schedule up.
Some of you seem to have the idea that WWRL is going to be AAR.. WLIB allowed AAR to co locate with them in the beginning and AAR has subsequently moved out to their own offices and studio’s .
WWRL is an affiliate station just like KTLK and KLSD are affiliate stations. They pay AAR for syndication of the programs they broadcast and can put on what ever programming they like in the holes between programs or tape programs for rebroadcast at different times of day.
In most cases the only way all the AAR programs can be heard is via the Internet stream . From all the comments as of late I think AAR is going to be a syndicator of programming much like the Jones Radio network syndicates Stephie Miller and Ed Shultz as apposed to being a producer of their own programming. Shultz and Miller are not even co located and probably rent space from local stations. Maybe that’s what AAR wants to do.. Maybe they will syndicate Malloy eventually if he still wants to talk to them..
Syndication is like hiring on as a contractor you furnish the syndicator a finished product which he sells. You get to pay your own taxes and Social Security and health insurance,..Ahhh the American way.. :yuck::eek::crap::paranoid:

I happened to tune to Air America this morning during my travels south. The Jerry Springer show was on and a caller phoned in to offer Jerry congrats on his show and to keep up the good work. Jerry did not say one word about being terminated by Air America Radio or moved to another time slot. So what gives? Is “Springer on the Radio” moving into an evening slot. Perhaps Malloy’s?

Almost all the “liberal” talkers have been luring the left into a belief that just voting democratic in the 2006 election will facilitate the changes necessary to get the economy and the foreign policy turned around.. Of the 20 million that Moonlight talked of only about half are people who walked across the border the rest came here on visa’s and just stayed after the visa expired. Of those probably only about 5 million actually are joined in the rethug race to the bottom the rest pay taxes, social security and even own houses and pay property taxes. The only way to keep them from coming is to improve things for them in Mexico and maybe a revolution there will do that.

I think that when you syndicate you negotiate a price plus a fee that is dependent on the number of stations carrying your program. So maybe that’s like 300 dollars a show plus 50 bucks for every station that carries it.. Maron can probably make 5 grand or more per performance as a stand up comic. :omg::eek: As an employee you just get paid wages..:yuck: but in theory the job security is a lot better 😮
I favor legal immigration. That isn’t what is happening. I don’t know what one can do to stop illegals from entering our country other than what is already being mentioned here. Mexico’s economy is apparently a disaster. Corporate America probably would love a class of people who would work for the lowest of wages. BELGRADE, Mont. (AP) — Republican Sen. Conrad Burns, whose recent comments have stirred controversy, says the United States is up against a faceless enemy of terrorists who ”drive taxi cabs in the daytime and kill at night.”
During a fundraiser Wednesday with first lady Laura Bush, the three-term Montana senator talked about terrorism, tax cuts and the money he has brought to his state. Burns is one of the more vulnerable Senate incumbents, facing a tough challenge from Democrat Jon Tester.
He has drawn criticism in recent weeks for calling his house painter a ”nice little Guatemalan man” during a June speech. Burns, whose re-election campaign is pressing for tighter immigration controls, also suggested that the man might be an illegal immigrant. The campaign later said the worker is legal.
Burns, 71, also had to apologize after confronting members of a firefighting team at the Billings airport and telling them they had done a ”piss-poor job,” according to a state report. In July, the Hotshot crew had traveled 2,000 miles from Staunton, Va., to help dig fire lines for about a week around a 143-square-mile wildfire east of Billings.
At the campaign event with Bush, Burns talked about the war on terrorism, saying a ”faceless enemy” of terrorists ”drive taxi cabs in the daytime and kill at night.”…

So, maybe a parallel Air America is already being formed by NovaM Radio. Dr. Mike along with the Drobney’s already own 2 stations in Phoenix and Little Rock. Dr. Mike was extremely critical of the AAR board this morning. I called in but unfortunately got to work before I got on the air. They are totally independant of AAR and can say whatever they want. They have been incredibly supportive of local events and protests, publicizing them and reporting them. They have the original AAR vision and would love to have all our favorite hosts on including Marc and Malloy and would give them the artistic freedom and publicity they deserve(within means). Maybe the Seditionists should invest in that as an alternative?

What we need is to reregulate big business and charge tariffs, taxes, and/or fees for imported products/exported jobs. There is plenty of room in the middle of the country, but no jobs and not enough infrastructure. If we send all of our jobs overseas and import cheap labor then there is no way for anyone to be in the middle of the country because you cant make a living…but if we force industry to stay here or pay to be elsewhere, we create jobs and taxpayers…..They tried that reaganomics idea of letting the corporations regulate themselves because of course they will want to do whats best for the country, and they didnt….they did whats best for themselves…took the money and ran.

Hi all, just got a private email from a friend of mine about Malloy being fired, and thought I’d check in here. As I expected, it’s old news here. I can’t even get onto the petition, it’s so overloaded (seems to have taken my signature, but then doesn’t show it when I check back). Well, confirms what I said from the get-go, in so many words, and I re-phrase now: AAR was never intended as a serious radio network, only as a GOTV effort for the pathetic craven Democratic Party, mostly the DLC/DNC wing of it. Good riddance to these bastards. No reason to listen to them at all anymore, imo. Seder isn’t enough of a draw for me. :joe: – tea (iced)
I think paying a living wage should be required of all employers. I think vacation (at least four weeks) should be legislated. I think we should make an investment in our education and infrastructure to create an extremely well-trained, highly-educated workforce, as well as become the leaders in green technology and new innovations. I think a minimum standard of living, including housing and healthcare should be provided to everyone in this country (and eventually the world). And when I’m elected emperor, I’ll take the $10 Billion a month we’re spending in Iraq (and a few trillion more on things just ludicrous and destructive), and invest it in those and other things that will make this a better place for all living things.
Plus, I’ll get a really excellent home theatre system.

well, actually blue, I did a bit of that, and used to even spin wool when a really cool organic knitting shop moved into my brooklyn neighborhood when I was a teen….and I learned that it wasnt really my thing…But my father shot a Clairol commercial a zillion years ago with a HUGE loom and the woman was looming some huge rug ….a model…but her daughter skips down the path and then they hug and work the loom together while their same color hair shines….because Clairol gives you hair the same as your daughter’s…shiney and…er…not grey!!

My Mom took my dead grandma to Illinois to see her sister on a train….it was right before they all died…but she couldnt fly, so they took the train from Boston up through Chicago and then either down or got a car…I dont remember…but it was great!

Weird to ponder that if Malloy was just a popular blogger, that this incident would never have happened. Something has got to change in our broadcast media, get pirate radio going, or increase the spectrum, otherwise the best will never get heard.
I really do appreciate this blog and others because the blog proprietor, be it PJ or whoever, will continue to contribute as long as they feel motivated. Unfortunately this does not happen in the crappy commercial radio business where the corner-shop proprietors do not exist. That’s why all of us repeatedly feel let down.
Interesting story in that I had a favorite community station radio show that I tuned in to every week a few years ago. It was a mixture of outsider music and nuttiness which ran for several years until one cohost decided to opt out. You figure that is the last you would hear of the people involved, but what did I find out this week, but my cube-mate at work is best buddies with the other cohost of that old show. And I heard from him that the hush-hush rumor is that a new incarnation is starting up later in the month!
Moral: Have some faith and we may get surprised.

Impotent Democrats

With mainstream media, such as William M. Arkin in the washingtonpost.com and Keith Olbermann and Joe Scarborough on MSNBC, taking up my emphasis on the moronic and fascist character of the Bush regime, the gates are open for Democrats to begin the task of bringing to an end the pointless, costly, and illegal war that is doing America’s cause so much damage and that is strongly opposed by a majority of Americans.
A no-brainer. So what did the Democrats do? They sent out an appeal that we stop hunters from shooting Alaska’s gray wolves from airplanes.
Shooting defenseless creatures from the air is murder, whether it is wolves killed by hunters or hapless civilians in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Gaza and Palestine who are strafed and bombed by US and Israeli aerial warriors.
Why are Democrats more concerned about hunters’ crimes against wolves than they are about the US and Israeli governments’ crimes against civilians?
Can we take seriously the Democrats’ concern with Alaskan wolves when Democrats voted overwhelmingly to support Israel’s massacre of Lebanese women and children and the Bush regimes’ massacre of tens of thousands of Afghan and Iraqi civilians?
What are we to make of a party whose heart bleeds for wolves, but not for people.
According to the Democrats’ appeal, more than 550 wolves have been shot in unsporting actions from the air. One gets the impression that military aviators also see it as sport when they gun down thousands of civilians on the ground below.
The reason for the Democrats’ impotence is known to us all. The party is owned lock, stock and barrel by AIPAC just as is the Republican Party. As long as AIPAC clings to its belief that policies that overthrow secular Middle Eastern governments and replace them with Islamic clerics are good for Israel, the Bush and Olmert regimes will continue the war crimes for which they are despised.
