Here we go, another Monday, after an uneventful weekend (a few boom-booms, some religious pilgrims murdered, a couple of truce violations, all a part George Bush’s march to democracy). Let’s see that this week brings.

Man, that was a quick week. So, who’s on today?
Let’s see, Timmy Potatohead David “Gilligan” Gregory hosts Senator Chipmunk Cheeks himself, “Maverick” McCain on Press the Meat. As if that wasn’t enough, he’ll also have retired general Barry McCaffrey, Dr. Vali Nasr of the Naval Postgraduate School, and good old John Harwood.
Over at Faze the Nation, speaking of  (not to mention :jerk:), bush buddy Bobby Schieffer has Joe “the Schmuck” Lieberman, on to tell us how only he can save us all from terrorism, and to tell us just why it is he’s even the least bit relevant at this point. Plus, it’s WaPost media whore, Jim VandeHei.
Over on This Weak with George Snufalufagus, John Kerry will be on to say “I told you so,” plus the British Home Secretary, John Reid. At the roundtable, it’s Fareed “Token” Zakaria, the Robin Wright that isn’t married to Sean Penn (this one’s from the WaPost), a person they’re billing as a Middle East “expert” (he’s a former CIA operative and one of those brilliant neocons from the PNAC, so he must be quite the expert), Reuel Gerecht, plus Geroge :jerk: Will. And we’ll also hear from Spike Lee, to see if dubya’s got all those black folks cleared out of New Orleans yet.
Over at Fux News Sunday, that little weaselface prick has Chuck Hagel, schmuck congressman Peter King from NY, Rafi “Daffy” Ron, who used to be the head of Israeli airport security, and Rand Beers, who used to be a counter-terrorism advisor for the president, until he found out what a fucking idiot loser president we got stuck with.
Over on CNN, well, you’ll have to look at Wolf Blitzer, and whoever the hell he has on from Lebanon and Israel, to talk about whether the cease fire will last (hint: only if you define “cease fire” as Israel can do whatever it wants).
Later, on 60 Minutes, in a story sure to hold its key demographic in rapt attention, Steve Kroft tells us all about the multi-billion dollar “anti-aging” racket, Morley Safer interviews the creator of “Submission,” which has apparently pissed off the Muslim World, and Ed Bradley interviews Michael Jordan for some reason.
Down to two episodes of Deadwood, sorry to say. They really ought to time these things out so that nothing good ends before football season begins (no, pre-season doesn’t count). Enjoy your Sunday.

Another weekend here already – what a shame. This’ll be the last weekend where I won’t have to think, “shit, I gotta go to class on Monday night.” Well, until Labor Day, anyway. I have a rough schedule comign up – class on Monday night, Tuesday afternoon, and on the Internet. And I only have a few short months to figure out how the hell I’m gonna get out of having to work for a living again when this is all over. Better get cracking on that Morning Seditionists swag store, I guess.
Enjoy your Saturday.

It is Friday, right? It’s hard to tell, now that I’m out of the rat race (no offense, Druid) for a little while.
So, yesterday a federal judge ruled what we all knew – dubya violated the first and fourth amendments, broke the law, and is guilty of high crimes and misdemeanors (OK, I may have thrown a little bit of my own interpretation in there at the end). Of course, as one redneck wingnut blog I accidentally looked at last night (had to take three showers) stated, she’s not only a Carter appointee, but a black woman to boot. So, obviously, she’s a terrorist lover, and no doubt only got into Yale Law School thanks to affirmative action (note to racist crackers out there: Judge Anna Diggs Taylor graduated from Yale Law School in 1957, and if you’d been paying any attention at all in school before dropping out in the sixth grade, you might recall that affirmative action in 1957 meant you were first in line to get lynched, you ignorant bigot).
So, anyhow, I say we take that Feingold censure idea off the table, and go for impeachment, with civil and criminal trials to take place after Bush and Cheney are tossed out of office. Hopefully the Democrats will have taken back the House by then, so I guess that would probably make Nancy Pelosi the first woman to be president, she’s likely to be the next Speaker of the House. Well, I think I’d rather have Maxine Waters, but I reckon Nancy will do.
Speaking of Democrats, you can go see Marc Maron tonight at a fundraiser for the Culver City Democratic Club. It’s being held at Steinway Hall, which (as you may recall) is underneath Field’s Pianos in LA (if you need directions, I believe Kristapea can help you out, since she went to see Mishna, Marc, and Jim there, way back on April 1st, when the Marc Maron Show was still pretty new – not that it had a chance to get ‘old’ – and we were all looking forward to it being syndicated to a station with a live stream that didn’t preempt the show for sporting events). KP said it was great place to see them, so get out there if you can. We get him here on the East coast next week.
Oh, shit. That means school starts back up a week from Monday. :omg:
Have a good Friday.

So, I’m waiting for someone over at DU to posit the theory that the Bush Administration ordered the arrest of somebody in the JonBenet Ramsey case in order to cover for Lieberman losing the CT primary or something. Poor kid would’ve been 16 now.Of course, there are a lot of Iraqi kids who’ll never see their 16th birthday either. The Iraq Body Count database (whether its numbers are low or not) is a truly mind-numbing thing to look through, with its columns for “target,” “weapons,” and number killed. Numbing because it’s so relentless – day after day after day. Policeman found tortured and shot, 58 laborers killed by a minibus suicide attack, 72 shoppers and market vendors killed by carbomb, grenades, mortar, automatic fire, 14 bodies found bound and executed, 38 found tortured and shot…. It just goes on and on, every day, for over three years now. At least 40,000 civilians killed in this mess.
And now dubya is becoming an existentialist? I think maybe he’s gotten Sartre confused with de Sade.
Hey, you can catch Marc at the Hollywood Improv tonight, so get over there and do it.

Well, if you’re out there in the LA area , and you’ve so far neglected to head out to the Irvine Improv to see Marc, you get another chance tonight. Only a couple of West Coast gigs left before Marc brings his act back to NYC (too bad it isn’t for a new radio show, but I reckon it’s about the best we’ll get – for now, anyway).
Thanks to Molly Ivins’ latest column, I’ve found a new favorite phrase to describe the traditional media (or at least the DC press corps), which she refers to as the “pusillanimous punditry.” Pusillanimous, indeed, with the exception of Helen Thomas. In fact, since the fairness doctrine was tossed aside in favor of news for profit, the pusillanimous punditry has been nothing but a perpetually pathetic parade of preposterous pricks performing like prevaricating puppets to prop up piglike politicians. Except for Mr FK, of course.
It’s Hump Day – you know what to do.

Tuesday, and that means back-to-back episodes of Dead Like Me on SciFi tonight. I guess it was originally a Showtime show, but SciFi is running it, and I kinda like it. Who cares, you ask? Well, probably nobody, so I’ll shut up, and you guys talk amongst yourselves.

I haven’t had a chance to see if the big truce is still holding, but I hope it is (I mean, if they can’t hold it for five hours…). People can pretty much die all on their own in this world, without anybody helping them along. So, whattya say we all try not killing anybody (on purpose, at least) for, oh, I dunno, how about a year? Would that be too long? After that, maybe we can take a vote and see how things worked out.
So, no helicopter attacks on Hamas, no rocket attacks on Israel, no suicide bombing, no IED’s, no invading sovereign nations (even if we don’t really like their leaders), and of course none of your basic daily murder (what the hell, why don’t we call a moratorium on raping an pillaging, too, since the three really seem to go together; a little mayhem on the weekends would be OK, I guess).
I figure with all the money we save from not blowing shit up, we could maybe do some real good (can you imagine if the US Government were to take the $10 Billion a month – that’s 10 Gigadollars, for chrissakes – we’re spending on Iraq, and put it into, oh, electric cars or education or, well, just about anything else). Maybe we could put the Christians to work on it, to keep ’em busy; I think if they just had a little less time on their hands, they might not feel such a need to go fucking with the rest of us all the time (just make sure there’s somebody we can trust keeping an eye on ’em, or they’ll rob us blind in the name of Christ). Plus, think of all the freakin’ time we could save, not having to go through airport security.
Have a good Monday.

Another week gone already? Where does the time go?
On Press the Meat today, it’s Michael Chertoff on to tell us what a great job he did in having the Brits capture those nasty old water bombers, plus the co-chairs of the 9/11 Commission – Tom Kean and Lee Hamilton – are on to tell us what they think. Then – this could be interesting – it’s Howrd Dean and Kenny “Bud” Mehlman on to talk about how Lieberbitch’s loss to Lamont signals the end of the Democratic party, and maybe even CT itself.
Over at Faze the Nation, Michael Chertoff stays out of his crypt long enough to chat with Bush buddy Bobby Schieffer, plus Republican and Republican-lite members of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Pat Roberts and Jane Harman. Then it’s the DINO killer himself, Ned Lamont.
Over at Fux News Sunday – how long can can he stay out of his tomb? – it’s Michael Chertoff yet again, plus Pete “Hokie” Hoekstra, and a little more Nedmentum with the next Senator from CT.
On Thie Weak with George Snufalufagus, believe it or not, it’s Michael Fucking Chertoff once again! They’re certainly trotting Skeletor out there a lot this week, aren’t they? Then it’s John “I keep a few rolls of quarters tucked between my cheek and gum” McCain and Russ Feingold. At the roundtable, you’ll find little Robbie Reich, Martha Raddatz, and of course George :jerk: Will. And John Secada will be on to sing Happy Birthday to Fidel Castro.
CNN’s Late Emission with Wolf Blitzer has – can it be? – YES! Mike “the Skull” Chertoff goes five-for-five, hitting yet another bobblehead show. Be afraid, America (but not so afraid that you stop buying SUV’s, of course). Plus we’ll get a little of the old scare thrown into us from Chuck Hagel and Jack Reed. Also, it’s Ehud Barak (former Israeli Prime Minister) Lebanese Ambassador Nouhad Mahmoud, author Vali Nasr, and retired Gen. George Joulwan (former NATO Supreme Allied Commander).
Later, on 60 Minutes, Mike Wallace has a chat with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (that could be interesting), plus they’ll be re-running the Stephen Colbert segment, which is definitely worth watching.
There’s also a new episode of Deadwood, plus the 4400 and the Dead Zone. So, hey, what more could you ask for?
Have a good Sunday.
