Holy shit, Wednesday caught me by surprise this week. I didn’t get my reading done for class, or anything. So, I reckon I’d better see what I can get to before I have to go to class this afternoon. Looks like no fun for Siggy today. You guys carry on.
First? Again? OK:banana:

If ABC airs that 9-11 attack on Clinton, Dems should work to make the ESPN football game up against it the highest rated game since the Superbowl.
Comment by cresttwo — September 5, 2006 @ 7:25 pm
Well, since Disney owns both ABC and ESPN, maybe we should re-check the TV Guide. Or read a book.
Nova was a good show. I’m no engineer, but i did work at the Trade Center, and it was a heap of wall board and glass. The theory they set forth made sense to me, especially the bit about the flimsy fireproof coating on the steel. Given that it was NY construction unions in the 60s who put it up, I’ll bet a lot of it wasn’t coated at all.
Jeesh, are they really going to put up another tower, and who the hell will want to work on the 87th floor at that location? How about a huge antenna, like Toronto’s, without people inside?
Yeah, she won. 50% to 30% over her nearest Repig competitor.
What a gracious victor she was, too. I swear her voice went up half an octave when she started cackling to her crowd about how she would send Bill Nelson back to Florida. What a disgusting harpie.
In the gubernatorial race, alleged heterosexual Charlie Crist beat temporary Christo-fascist Tom Gallagher soundly, while in the Dem race Jim Davis edged sugar-slut Rod Smith.
Best of all, there were NO POLITICAL ADS OF ANY KIND on TV this morning. I know it won’t last, but I’m enjoying it for now.

Major General Shaukat Sultan Khan, press secretary to the president of Pakistan, tells ABC News that — if found — Osama bin Laden won’t be arrested, as long as he promises to behave like a “peaceful citizen.”
“If he is in Pakistan, bin Laden ‘would not be taken into custody,’ Major General Shaukat Sultan Khan told ABC News in a telephone interview, ‘as long as one is being like a peaceful citizen,” report Brian Ross and Gretchen Peters at ABC’s blog, The Blotter.

terror prophetspofits!I saw that PBS show on the collapse of the twin towers a year or more ago and I find it technically quite good. Those two buildings were the only ones ever built to that height that didn’t have a concrete core. Floor loading is generally only a couple of 100 lbs/sq foot so when you dynamically load a floor with quite a bit of the structure below it missing it would pancake on the one below it and given that three to five floors were missing at least some of their structural support what they say happened was probably what happened. Building 7 was heavily damaged in the collapse of the two towers but there is a lot of evidence that it was pulled. How they rigged the charges to do that in the time they did is almost impossible to believe so given one building was prerigged to be imploded why not the others ??
The pentagon is still a total mystery.. The evidence seems to indicate that what ever hit it was not a Boeing 757..:eek::eek::rant1:

Hey everybody!
The schoolbus rocks!!….
I git him on at 7:45 this morning and proceeded to feed the animals and go any take a 3 hour nap!…a promising start to the school year for Mommy!
Im beat….have to go over to the bird store and get food….
Wanex…wasnt that the best ending of a series ever?…I loved that ending!….
Anyone catch NipTuck last night? Ugh….I really like it but they promised that they were gonna be less…whatever…this year.
I guess that Christian represents some darkenss in the heart of men…? He is just so out of control that its scary….and I dont really believe the women characters all that much. Its like they live in some sorta strange colony of the basest people in the world…was that LA?…oh, Miami Beach….
Whats been happening in the world?
I havent read the blog at all for today or yesterday.
BUT luckily MSNBC has decided to make themselves an all politics channel today…makes me want to watch the Young and the Restless, honestly…..I was trying to think myself into being someone who believes the president blindly, just for fun….but it was a very scary place to be….scared all the time with the terrorists coming down the street except for him, and all the stuff on TV is just propaganda from the lefty media….huh?
People who look at the truth may also have to be scared at what humanity has come to, and what these people have done, but at least we’ve got control of our minds…..some small control, but control nonetheless….
Long, Island is changing as more city in people move and older folks leave. The farthest east county is Suffolk and it was once solidly Rethug. The last election for state assembly from Suffolk was called because the incumbent left to work for Wacky Pataki. The repubs thought it was no problem but just in case they called the special election on the same day as the Rethug primary on the premise that Rethugs would come to the polls and assure the Rethug victory. Their candidate was a well know pol. The Democratic candidate, Steve Alessi, was a young guy in his 20’s. His campaign consisted of putting up lawn signs for 2 weeks. He WON. No one was more surprised than Alessi.
Katherine Harris won?…is that true?….Boy, you sure miss some shit when you take a day off.
I guess the sideshow continues…..
yeah melina and wan -love that ‘breathe me’ ending song. i put that on while i’m driving and the light is low on the horizon.

My shift on the desktop died…but only on some letters….the desktop is having lots of problems, and i have to clean it out…..and I think the motherboard is dying. I have to call Monarch.
Shit…Bush is gonna talk again…this time at more length.
Why cant I be a :sheep:….thats all I want….its too troubling otherwise. This guy gets on TV and he lies at the very same moment that the actual military higherups are releasing reports saying that he is worng…
How can it be that there is no evidence that moves these people??
I wish I believed in god…and had a higher mission….
I also hate all of this on and on about how the Dems wont take back all the seats…looking at it in microcosim…as if we arent seeing all of these big surprises happening all over the place….damn..
Hes talking….very scary….he wants to talk about how scary things have been….how much danger there is….

A Half Million by Mid September….Here is how you can get involved
1) Make a donation today to run a new ad THIS WEEK in the New York Times, The LA Weekly, The Chicago Reader, The Washington DC City Paper and El Diario. New voices are recording ads for Air America (money still to be raised: 50 K this week). All ads will be announcing the September 7th meetings. Donate $50 or more today and receive a full color glossy poster of the Call.
2) Write a personal note on why you are funding World Can’t Wait and send this fund appeal and invitation to the September 7th meetings taking place in your town to your e-list and ask people to send to their list. Or snail mail it to your friends and ask them to send it to their friends.
3) Hold a house party to raise money for World Can’t Wait. A kit for this can be found on the donate page of our web site. Watch the new video of the Bush Crimes Commission session in Berkeley with Daniel Ellsberg, ex British Ambassador Craig Murry, Larry Everest and Janis Karpinski (available online) and ask your guests to write checks to World Can’t Wait. But don’t stop there! Get everyone involved in taking history into their hands and bring new people into the movement to drive out the Bush Regime — no prior experience required!
4) Hold a car wash or bake sale, and sell posters and get out leaflets as you do so.
5) Canvas your neighborhood with our new leaflet to raise money and invite all your neighbors and friends to the September 7th meetings.
6) Write an article or put an ad in your professional or church newsletter, your MySpace page or music zine (the possibilities are endless — you get the idea).
7) Contact foundations or major funders that you have a personal connection to, and put them in touch with the World Can’t Wait National office at 866-973-4463.
Send us your ideas for raising funds. New ideas are welcome and your participation is needed.
e-mail fundraise@worldcantwait.org
What have you not done that you could to Drive Out the Bush Regime?
Do something that can make a difference to the whole planet and our collective future today.
i am going home till tuesday! then JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR!

Death of the Mexican Presidency
By JOHN ROSS
Mexico City.
The tableau of 155 leftist deputies and senators storming the tribune of congress here September 1 to prevent President Vicente Fox from delivering his sixth and final State of the Union address (the “Informe”) should be mandatory viewing for members of both houses of the U.S. Congress who, year after year, burst into servile applause for George Bush when each January he imposes his own infernal Informe upon the citizens of Gringolandia.
One crucial political distinction between these two distant neighbor nations is the presence of a third party in the Mexican mix, one that at least purports to be left of the center. Swindled out of the presidency by fraud this past July 2, the party of Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador (AMLO)–the Party of the Democratic Revolution or PRD–appears to have broken with the political class and traditional cronyism.
It is not that the PRD’s hands are clean- its legislators have regularly prostituted their wares – but in the wake of the stolen election and having been frozen out of any power positions in the brand-new congress despite being Mexico’s second political force, the Party of AMLO has little to lose, and is suddenly speaking its truth to power, a singular position for any politico right or left.
Despite rampant corruption, regular vote stealing, and authoritarian tendencies, Mexico’s multi-party system makes U.S. “democracy” with its two-headed single party rule, look a lot more like Idi Amin’s Uganda than what the Boston tea party had in mind for the future citizens of the United States of North America…

Re #43 Thanks, isi, for the link to the Greer article. I was beginning to think I was the only one who wasn’t bemoaning the loss of Irwin. At another message board that I frequent, there is major grieving for this guy and much carrying on about how wonderful he was, how great an environmentalist and conservationist he was, and how respectful 😯 he was of wildlife. Holy :crap:
Sure, it is sad that he died, though his actions suggest he may have had a death wish. Then again, maybe he was just a egotistic, hubristic fool. And I certainly have sympathy for his family. But it’s not as if he actually made a meaningful contribution to the world, like curing cancer or negotiating a lasting peace in the Middle East or reversing global warming or eradicating AIDS and poverty or creating great art. I agree with Greer that he was a kind of circus act, an over-the-top buffoon.
In fairness, I should say that I never saw his show (don’t have cable) or film. And I gather that lots of people seemed to find his work entertaining and enlightening and that he was very popular with kids. All I’ve seen is a few clips on interview shows and the coverage of his disgusting antics with a croc, meat, and his infant son. :growl: :yuck:
I believe that provoking potentially dangerous animals to strike for the entertainment of an audience, pretending that this is somehow educational, is deplorable and that it sends all the wrong kinds of messages about humans, wildlife, and the environment.:rant1:
So I guess I’m being really cold about this. Can’t help it. How can I 🙁 over one self-destructive fool’s death when I turn on the news and hear that the death toll of Iraqis was over 1500 last month and that more American servicement have been killed in this obscene war. Not to mention the news about how many people are very ill because of this government’s lies about the air at and around ground zero.
Okay. Rant over.

Today’s Democrats — Kerry, Clinton and the rest — stand to the right of Nixon on foreign policy, the economy, civil rights, repression of dissent and virtually every other question (perhaps excepting personal conduct issues). The liberals and pwogwessives have contributed to this outcome by their habit of unconditional, if grumbling, submission to the Democratic establishment. Imagine the effect on politics if the millions of voters who oppose the bipartisan foreign policy, etc. were to say to the Democratic establishment, No, you cannot have my vote, not until you give me something besides a wink to tell me you are better than whatever monster the Republicans have nominated. Yes, it would probably lead to some Republican victories (which may very well happen anyhow), but it would also lead to a reconfiguration of the party system (posing new problems), and perhaps more…

Bianca Jagger Hit With Contempt of Court
By Associated Press
Wed Sep 6, 6:09 PM
NEW YORK – A judge has ordered Bianca Jagger, former wife of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger, to pay a $500 fine for failing to pay rent on a Park Avenue apartment that she says is infested with toxic mold and unlivable and has made her sick.
State Supreme Court Justice Leland DeGrasse imposed the fine after citing Jagger for contempt of court. He said she was “willfully disobeying the explicit directives of two prior court orders requiring Jagger to pay rent” while her case was pending.
Jagger has sued her landlord, Katz Park Ave. Corp., for $20 million, saying water leaks and toxic mold made her 18th floor apartment uninhabitable. She has failed to pay the monthly rent of $4614.29 since February, the judge found.
DeGrasse ordered Jagger to continue to pay the rent to the court on the first day of each month until her case is resolved. The judge said that if she fails to pay rent, then Katz may serve a notice of default, and five days after that notice is filed, Katz may apply to have her evicted.
Jagger’s lawyer, Ryan S. Goldstein, was out of his office Wednesday and not immediately available for comment.
Katz’s lawyer, James Davies, declined to comment on the ruling.
The Rent is too Goddamned High!
This process, this method that was used to reach the goal of not allowing Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador reach the presidency, is the cause of the civil resistance. The insults, the demonstrations, and the media manipulation which have been unchained against the coalition candidate and of those who day by day are in the resistance, do no more than aggravate the conflict among Mexicans. The most sensible thing would be to reason, to try to understand the causes generating the civil resistance, instead of pointing out that the movement “doesn’t affect me,” or that “I don’t like it,” or that it “doesn’t look good,” and worse yet, using derogatory adjectives against those who defend a cause. The question to be asked is: “What is worse, a few weeks of discomforts or six years of an illegitimate government?” A government which, if it comes to be, will be the legacy given us by the most incompetent President in Mexico’s history.
