WASHINGTON (AP) – The planet’s temperature has climbed to levels not seen in thousands of years, warming that has begun to affect plants and animals, researchers report in Tuesday’s issue of Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
The Earth has been warming at a rate of 0.36 degree Fahrenheit per decade for the last 30 years, according to the research team led by James Hansen of NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies in New York.
That brings the overall temperature to the warmest in the current interglacial period, which began about 12,000 years ago.
The researchers noted that a report in the journal Nature found that 1,700 plant, animal and insect species moved poleward at an average rate of about 4 miles per decade in the last half of the 20th century.
The warming has been stronger in the far north, where melting ice and snow expose darker land and rocks beneath allowing more warmth from the sun to be absorbed, and more over land than water.
Water changes temperature more slowly than land because of its great capacity to hold heat, but the researchers noted that the warming has been marked in the Indian and western Pacific Oceans. Those oceans have a major effect on climate and warming that could lead to more El Nino episodes affecting the weather.
“This evidence implies that we are getting close to dangerous levels of human-made pollution,” Hansen said in a statement.

U.S. drops to 6th in world competitiveness ranking
Tue Sep 26, 2006 5:17am ET
GENEVA (Reuters) – The United States fell to sixth place in the World Economic Forum’s 2006 global competitiveness rankings, ceding the top place to Switzerland, as macroeconomic concerns eroded prospects for the world’s largest economy.
In a report released on Tuesday, the World Economic Forum said Washington’s huge defense and homeland security spending commitments, plans to lower taxes further, and long-term potential costs from health care and pensions were creating worrisome fiscal strains.
“With a low savings rate, record-high current account deficits and a worsening of the U.S. net debtor position, there is a non-negligible risk to both the country’s overall competitiveness and, given the relative size of the U.S. economy, the future of the global economy,” it said.
Switzerland was deemed the most competitive economy in the 2006 rankings, followed by Finland, Sweden, Denmark and Singapore. The United States had topped the 2005 index.

DENVER – Inspectors with the United States Postal Service and the FBI are investigating a series of threatening letters and white powder scares in the metro area.
A postal inspector spokesman says it is too early to determine if the four incidents come from one source, but they did say since only Colorado state agencies were targeted with threatening letters and white powder there seems to be a link. Department of Agriculture mail worker Merry Colmenero opened one of those envelopes.
“And the letter said in big red letters, ‘You are now poisoned and anyone who comes into contact with this or you will be poisoned also,’ and then it went on to say something about Mohammed and Islam,” said Colmenero.

Hi guys…Will home…sick?…anxiety and stress….
Im so tired of AAR….Im not gonna listen to the young Turks unless I run out of Sam and Al from the day before.
NBC did a pretty great job on the Clinton story this AM. Meredith Viera is great. She asks hard questions but is definitely a lib (in the scheme of how the press has been, a radical)
I see some of the rats climbing out of the woodwork, but I think its too late…and to send Condi after this story with bold LIES is just stupid. Carville said that of course she wont go on the shows where they will question her lies.
Im tracking down the Macaca Allen story in Salon that Sam was talking about yesterday…hes now really finished. I just dont see how he can recover from this.
Need tea….
oh, that’s some of the strongest stuff I’ve ever heard from Keith Olbermann about the president shirking his responsibilities. Bush Bitchslap!
“perhaps we should just sigh and keep our fingers crossed until a grownup takes the job three Januarys from now” accuses Bush of rewriting history.
hehe, says Chris Wallace should go home and start a new career of selling seeds by mail. This is funny stuff

Book Review
Review by Morris Halle
Jewish History, Jewish Religion: The Weight of Three Thousand Years, Foreword by Gore Vidal, By Israel Shahak; Pluto Press, London, England and Boulder, Colorado.
The author of this book, Israel Shahak, a retired professor of chemistry at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, was born in Warsaw in 1933 and was one of the tiny minority of Polish Jews who survived the war in a concentration camp. He came to Palestine in 1945, was educated there, served in the Israeli military, and since the 1960s has been a leading advocate of human rights in the state of Israel.

that’s the book, Nicki, thanks, I will definitely try to get that one
Republican lawmakers and the White House agreed over the weekend to alter new legislation on military commissions to allow the United States to detain and try a wider range of foreign nationals than an earlier version of the bill permitted, according to government sources.
snip
As a result, human rights experts expressed concern yesterday that the language in the new provision would be a precedent-setting congressional endorsement for the indefinite detention of anyone who, as the bill states, “has engaged in hostilities or who has purposefully and materially supported hostilities against the United States” or its military allies.
The definition applies to foreigners living inside or outside the United States and does not rule out the possibility of designating a U.S. citizen as an unlawful combatant.

The item referred to in 82 is what Sam is talking about right now.. The last paragraph is especially disturbing.. On the other hand if the demodorps retake power it could come in extremely handy.:gate::omg::jason::jason:
Did I just hear newsdaddy report that Condi said the bushies never got the “blueprint” that the Clinton Administration left them on Al Qaeda, and that the terrorism expert Clinton left on board “chose to leave” the administration? Oy.
Re: #82 It’s a government dream. Just the answer to us anti-war demonstrators. If that is not hostility then it is certainly support for hostilities against the US. Bush is probably making his list and checking it twice. Guess who’s on it.

In reality this is kind of an illusion.. Lets say the police or the FBI came knocking on your door in the next ten minutes and when you answered they put you up against the wall, handcuffed you, tranquilized you and when you woke up you were in a cell in Cuba. Who would know where you were ??.. You can demand your rights all you want but who is going to listen. ?? Even if they put you in the county jail and you called your lawyer at $ 200/hr until your savings are all gone, your house is repossessed and you are destitute they could just keep you there using constant delays to make your life miserable. They can do that right now .. have they done that ..who knows …has anyone you know mysteriously vanished ??
:pup: She’s about 6 month old. She hasn’t barked at all since she got here. She didn’t bark much at the pound either. I hope she barks when she’s supposed to. There were just some guys right outside my house cutting down a Palm tree and she didn’t bark at all.
I had a great aunt that just disappeared one day. I can’t remember if she was ever found or turned up or what. I’ll have to ask my mom about it.
They can do that right now .. have they done that ..who knows …has anyone you know mysteriously vanished ?? 😮
I had a good friend vanish once. She lived up in Syracuse, though I met her around here. I spent a lot of time with her up there, and she came down here and we were close. We wrote to each other a lot. One day my letter was returned that she didn’t live there anymore. She never got in touch with me to tell me where she went, and that was not like her. It was a long time ago, but I still wonder to this day where she went.
Ms always lates descriptions of what happened in Nicaragua in the 80’s was that there would be trucks of armed men driving around at night who would just take entire families away never to be seen again. Negroponte in action. The people were simply resisting the imperialism of the United Fruit company and the SBR’s puppet government. The villagers fixed the problem by organizing citizen committees who kept village watches and got good at mugging the gun men, taking their guns and then killing them.. The gun men would then come in larger numbers sometimes with their College of the America’s advisers and their would be fire fights. Can you imagine downtown Chicago that way..:eek::eek:

WASHINGTON – House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi asked her colleagues Tuesday to close the House’s doors for a highly unusual secret session to discuss a classified intelligence analysis on global terrorism.
Such a session hasn’t happened in the House since July 1983, when the chamber went into a closed session to discuss the United States’ support for paramilitary operations in Nicaragua.
In an interview with The Associated Press, Pelosi, D-Calif., said the secret session is necessary to allow members to better understand the intelligence community’s most recent assessment on global terrorism.
She said she hoped House Republicans would recognize the need for such an internal debate on the document, some of which leaked to the news media over the weekend.

FRISCO – An elementary school art teacher who has been publicly at odds with the Frisco school district over a field trip to the Dallas Museum of Art is no longer in front of a classroom.
The school district placed Sydney McGee on leave with pay Friday afternoon. After a special school board meeting Monday night about Ms. McGee, Superintendent Rick Reedy said he would recommend that her contract not be renewed when it expires at the end of the school year.
In the meantime, Ms. McGee will be paid her full salary while remaining on leave from Fisher Elementary School.
Ms. McGee’s attorney, Rogge Dunn, said the decision was a “crazy use of taxpayers’ money.”
“She wants to be in there with her kids,” Mr. Dunn said.
A Frisco ISD spokeswoman said the district had no further comments on the case.
Ms. McGee, a 28-year veteran teacher, contends she was retaliated against after a parent complained that a student saw a nude statue during a field trip to the museum in April.

Mike, Molly, and Kathy – the entire Malloy family – have nasty colds right now and are concentrating on getting strong for the upcoming fight against the flying monkey right candidates in November!
As for media news: Mike was recently interviewed by salon.com for an article they’re writing about Air America Radio past, present, and future. As is “Creative Loafing” here in Atlanta. We haven’t been told the publication dates, but watch for them. Mike had some interesting observations.
We’ve recently heard drips and drabs of rather distrubing information about our former employer that – among other things – hint to another possible explanation for our shocking and sudden dismissal. We are hesitant to discuss the details until we can confirm them, and until all our financial interests with Air America are resolved. Unless we sell the story to E! “Behind the Scenes” first. If true, the intrigue and backstabbing and spying and double-dealing would make Caligula blush. You can’t make this stuff up, Truthseekers.
Meanwhile, to say that we’re eager to get back on the air would be the understatement of the century. With Chavez, Armitage, Bush, Powell, Intel reports, Osama et al, Mike is pulling stories faster than Limbaugh can pop little blues on a child porn tour of Micronesia.
Suffice it to say we can’t wait to get back behind a mic!
We are still awaiting our next radio opportunity. Trust me, we’re as eager as you are to get back on the air. Unfortunately, radio decisions often move at a snail’s pace and we just have to wait as patiently as possible. Again, of the three possible radio outlets we’ve been in contact with, one is still more possible, one less possible, and one still remains unchanged. We do hope to have some actual news to report before the end of the week. We miss you all!
Finally, your email, calls, and petitions on our behalf are so appreciated. It certainly is a big boost to our morale and is noticed by potential radio outlets as well. Thank you thank you thank you so much, we’ll be in touch.

CNN Poll – Who did more to pursue bin Laden, Clinton or Bush
http://www.cnn.com/
Hey everyone, my Gay Republican friend has agreed to podcast with me. He’s coming over tonight to do a run through. Hope I don’t piss him off since our political views are so different. But I think that might make a podcast with him interesting. We shall see.
My country, the United States, exists beneath a blanket of disorienting and misleading media madness. It endures a climate of paralyzing and pervasive fear. It encompasses a deeply inculcated hopelessness born of educational and cultural institutions that snuff out communication of dissenting beliefs elevating instead pap and pablum. It suffers a life-draining anti-sociality produced by markets that reward callousness and punish solidarity. Garbage rises in the U.S. because nice guys finish last. And amidst all this, for anyone to tell the full truth, and even more so for anyone to display the appropriate levels of passionate anger that the full truth warrants, makes that person appear to be Martian, appear to be psychotic, appear to be irrelevant, and Chavez wants to reverse that context.
Did Chavez fall short of what could be accomplished on that score with one speech? I am not at all sure he did. But if he did, if the price of Chavez’s speech in delegitimating his own credibility in certain circles was greater than the gain in delegitimating greed and violence and in freeing people in very different circles from blind and uncritical obedience and fear, whose fault would that be?
Should we blame the one messenger who spoke up? Or should we blame the millions of messengers who know the same substance as Chavez, but hold their tongues?

The problem as I see it is not in the saying something it is in the what happens after you say it. A school teacher gets trashed for comparing the going ons in the Bush admin to what happened in Germany in the 1930’s .. Demodorp politicians call Chavez names because he calls the same person they call names the devil. Some teacher gets fired over having flags of countries other that the SBR in her class room. There are probably another 500 examples of what going up against the rethug noise machine causes. In an election year no one wants his name in lights on FAUX news and/or the shit list of the 400 or so Reich wing talkers on radio in the SBR.
The thing about this suppression is that the Reich wing’s noise machine won’t go away and will most likely just get worse if the Demodorps win this election..The best the left can muster is still only about 10% of their listeners and that’s only in big markets.. the Reich is all over the place.
The Reich must be destroyed. :tommygun::tommygun::tommygun:

Anyone who says Bush did more to fight Bin Laden prior to 9-11 is delusional, and should immediately be neutered for the good of mankind. The 9-11 commish could not locate one single act –ineffectual or otherwise — undertaken by the Bushies against Bin Laden prior to 9-11, so if you know better, its way past time to get Gov. Chuckles Keane on the phone.
And by the way, according to Jersey Girl Breitweiser, the White House demanded, and was given, the final edit of the ‘bipartisan’ 9-11 report.
Oh, crap, it looks like Condi lied again to the NY Post about the plans that Clarke gave her: “Oh, those plans. I thought you meant plants. Didn’t he say comprehensive plants?” Who finds her credible except for our mediawhores? I was shocked, personally.
In the immortal words of the loathsome Bob Grant, “I gotta get out of here.” :sammy:
I saw some chowderhead in the Raw Story comments call the NY Post “liberal.” Ha. These people really are as stupid as dubya looks.
Yeah, Raw Story worries me sometime. A lot of good stuff usually, but jeesh….:sammy:
So, I haven’t settled on a name yet but now I’m thinking about silent movie stars because this pup hardly barks at all. Those guys cutting down the palm trees were making all kinds of loud noises and dropping palm fronds on the house and stuff and she didn’t even seem interested. But then, the direct tv guys were in the yard and she growled and barked at them. So that’s good.
:jason::jason::jason:Having our media whores finding credibility in Condie is a predetermined thing.. They get paid to do that and probably fired if they did not. Oh, well, how’s about Greta, for Greta Garbo?
Young dogs are a bit like kids especially if they were raised in a not very friendly environment where they received strict discipline. Your dog is probably not quite sure who you are or where it is yet. As the next week or two go by and she finds she is not threatened and your place is now her new home she may change a lot. She may also find out how much she can get away with and not get in serious difficulties.
Well, there’s Greta Von Sustern too, so be careful.
The mediawhores also wet themselves when Kissinger shows up, too, never mentioning that he’d be clapped in irons if he showed his lying ass in Madrid.:sammy:
I’m considering Greta, and maybe Clara too. But she looks the most like this one I never heard of ZaSu Pitts. Not entirely sure how that’s pronounced. Then I like Lillian Gish or just Gish. Or maybe Gloria Swanson.
Oh wait; there’s Greta Sacchi. Never mind. I retract.

WASHINGTON – Congress is unlikely to approve a bill giving President Bush’s warrantless wiretapping program legal status and new restrictions before the November midterm elections, dealing a significant blow to one of the White House’s top wartime priorities.

I went and got some spray for the yard and I hope I never have to do that again because as I was spraying I saw all the good bugs running for their lives and who knows how many lizards I ended up spraying. Next place I live I’m gonna have chickens.

Gee, CNN changed their poll. Maybe they didn’t like the fact that it was a consistent 68 – 32, Clinton did more than Bush?
So the next question to ask is why in the H* did Bush release the parts of that report that made him look like a fool.:shock::paranoid:
The parts he released were the best parts they could find!
Sounds like Terry MacAuliffe kicked Fucker Carlson’s ass, too.
Maybe Bush had no choice, as hard as that is to imagine being the spoiled child that he is.
Bulgaria, Romania to join EU, Turkey may be rejected

thanks for the Mike Malloy update, Fred
I guess one will have to see which way and to what degree the Reich’s media spins on the portions of the report that were released over the next several days. I’m sure they will count on the 7th grade attention span to cover their As.:yuck::rant1:
Bush only released 3 pages of a 30 page report. Imagine what the parts he didn’t release must’ve said. And now we find out about the Iraq specifif NIE that they won’t call an NIE so they don’t have to share it with Congress. That must be a real dilly, too.
I don’t know about the ticks Krista ..We always put a flea and tick collar on the dog.. The dog didn’t seem to suffer from it and I only remember a couple of really huge ticks that had to be removed by hand.:eek:
And the Democrats are (believe it or not) getting smart, and bypassing the traditional media filter by posting their Iraq speeches on youtube.
C-span usually has the demodorps speeches and conferences on .. at 4am put hey they were there. I suppose you can get them out of their archives.:fustrate::fustrate::paranoid:
KP, a few more movie stars from the 30’s:
Myrna Loy, Ginger Rogers, Shirley Temple, Mae West
Kristapea, Are you around water (re ticks):?: Is it raining?
It’s been a fairly wet summer here. The mosquitos have been really bad too. We’re not supposed to have mosquitos!
Hey guys…just came in from…whatever…but wanted to let you all know that Al is aboutto be on the panel with Chris Matthews….
Its sorta worth watchin because the shite is hitting the fan big time….
I dont know if youve been talking about it but Ive got the NY Post Condi story linked on my blog and also the transcript and link to video of Olbermann’s “comments”…heh heh…
This report confirming that we are making more terrorists is biting the Bushies big time in the mass media….and there is another report that apparently they are keeping in Draft format so that they dont have to show Congress….
Oh my GOD! What if I named my dog Blogger! :pup:
Hey Krista…did you name her yet? One of my favorite names is Ginger. I was saving that gfor a girl child but never used it….
Al is kicking ass…
You could name her Maron…then you’ll always remember the funny….
Kristapea , :pup: Now, officially Fall — this is the tick season. PJ may know more re Frontline, but I do not trust since everytime I use it, it leaves a “hole” near her bum or upper legs. It is tick season perhaps Advantage for fleas and a collar for tick, like Fred said.
Bon Chance (Good Luck).
So where are the herbalists? I no longer do and I FORGET (or just tooooo tired, with school and :crap:) There are herbs that work on fleas and ticks … but you have a water pup in water/rain. Frontline flea and tick should have worked. Call your vet or Petco or pet shops. Look online. I am so glad I am no longer in tick area, but miss the quiet AND Mega STARS .
Krista if you name her blogger you will have to teach her how to type.:hubba::paranoid:
I like Secret or Misty or Mystery or Mermaid, but then again I like the “strange” :yippee:
Employing the typical thug logic. If we are creating a lot of terraists in Iraq we will just have to stay there and kill them all before we are safe.. Then kill all the new ones in err. Malaysia, Turkey, France, Minneapolis.. Detroit, Canada, humm whats wrong with this picture. :yuck::eek::shock::paranoid::paranoid:
Justice is 😎 too (so is Lib aka Liberty) mwah HaHa :pup:
But then I am a Water Snake :rofl2: (Melina 😉 :rofl2:)
We don’t have too much of a tick probem here, though we have used Frontline w/o any problems (no bum holes, except those that are supposed to be there). Mostly use Advantage, but hold off unless the fleas are really bad (I don’t much trust any of that stuff, to be honest). I try to remember to put some fresh garlic in the food, and that seems to help (too much makes things a bit runny, if you know what I mean).
FRED, YEA :yippee: re 135
Humm… Garlic .. Are Ticks related to vampires ???? Humm I guess they both drink blood don’t they 😮
re 168 :rofl2: 😆 :rofl2: :[ 😎
We tried diatomaceous earth one year (it’s a powder that’s made up of fossilized skeletons of microscopic organisms; the idea is that the skeletons are broken into tiny pieces that are razor-sharp at the microscopic level, although to humans and pets it feels like a fine powder. When a flea comes into contact with it their protective coating is pierced, whereupon they lose their bodily fluids, dehydrate, and die). Sounded good, but can’t say as it actually worked all that well. It was a super-duper bad flea year, though.
pjsauter, re 143 :yippee: :dancers: :yippee:
Yeah, the Syracuse connection is finally coming together!
Pulling ticks out and throwing out (somewhere ) was very meditative in mountains. Really 😀
PJ, how is your school ? :omg: 😉
How also are your “neighbors”? I have a few :yuck: ones too NOW :growl:
We have a serious tick problem and a few of my dogs have had lyme and have ongoing lyme problems…and I have ongoing problems with my own lyme disease in that I have pretty bad arthritis and sometimes I can get pretty sick from it….but anyway, I have these little boxes that the mice run through and they get frontline so the ticks drop off them before they can get lyme disease. Ticks contract lyme from mice and then they travel far distances on birds and deer….they can live through a snowy winter under the snow in the leaf cover of the forest, and few places freeze enough anymore to provide a good die off in the winter, so there are zillions of them in every state. Since the ticks travel on birds, they are everywhere, though they do less well in places that are really hot and dry.
Its not just the lyme either. They carry a few co-infections, one that I had is just like malaria but is curable with w quinine type of drug…
In any case, its not just that it will cause the dog pain, but it can cripple or kill you becaus eyou live in a state where the doctors probably couldnt diagnose lyme if their lives depended on it.
I just came from my Lyme Dr who is one of the foremost in the country and is runningthe national Lyme association…and things are bad out there in the lyme world…with Dr’s not taking it seriously, they create a situation where what could have been pretty easily cleared up in the beginning of the infection becomes a dug in disease that is alot like syphilis in how it digs in and spreads and breaks down the brain and just about every body function.
So, I would strongly suggest frontline, to protect you and the dogs. I wouldnt mess around with natural products unless you know your dogs are allergic to frontline. Its nasty stuff but worth it unless youre keeping them just in your own yard and checking them all the time…and even then…most of the ticks are tiny.
Like you cant even tell that they have legs without a magnifying glass.
Omaha Vaccine company online has really cheap prices on frontline and on heartworm too…the vets really overcharge for that….there is also carealot pets, Dr’s foster and smith and…um, there is another one. My vet now matches the lowest price I can get. Because Im buying for 5 dogs I tend to get a whole year’s worth at a time, and its very cheap if I order it online.
Just order and then I thin they contact the vet for the Rx…or you might have to have the vet fax the Rx.
I also use the Preventic collar, which is very good. The frontline makes the ticks not attach but it doesnt prevent them from riding the dog into you house and getting on you! The preventic collar prevents them from even standing on the dog….but not always 100%.
My dogs are tiny and very sensitive so Im pretty careful. Ive had a couple of little dogs get very itchy from the Advantage and the Topspot that they offer in some of the catalogs.
I dont do the lyme vaccine, even though my vet pushes it…Im not so sure it works…but he does a triple test every year now for heartworm, lyme, and something else….
Dru, I am still searching for basement snake because my mexican friends saw him with a messed up eye…I need to take him to the vet….but he hasnt been out. I hope he is OK.
Maybe I should put a mouse in an open 10 gallon tank in the middle of the basement and see if he eats it
Keith is doing his Clinton story again…he is so good!!
Hey Druid. School sucks. I’m totally unmotivated. I would really like to be doing something more technical, but most of it is more management oriented. It’s interesting that the program I’m in was created by Richard Clarke, though.
Yeah, ticks and Lyme diease are a real problem in places like LI and CT – and other places, I’m sure. Not so much where I’m at, though “up North” as we say, they have it, too.
Damn, that reminds me; I was gonna get a mega-millions ticket today. Well, practically speaking, I guess I saved myself a buck. Maybe I’ll remember to get a lotto ticket tomorrow.
Melina is really correct. There are herbals even like brewers yeast and brewer’s yeast collars and other flea herbs and…but I think easiest and best — since no one has time 24/7 😮 I knew when they were on me but others did not (like even hubby). I do not know why Advantage worked but not Frontline (since I did like). For cats I just powder for fleas and ticks. They should be taken seriously, since even humans get the disease.
I think also because all is getting dirtier due to over-population of people and deers, so at this time especially now, take care.
I do like powders since the animals can even eat it.
pjsauter, re 178 and Richard Clarke Program. 😎 If only I had a brain now … :billcat: 😉
Shit, if only I had a brain.
And a pristine personal history.
 killing deer though. When in mountains, there were beautiful HERDS of wild Deer. So beautiful to see them in herds. So easy to kill. Just follow their paths. Same with the Bears. Handsome yet Beautiful Bears.
PJSauter, I am PROUD I do NOT have a “pristine personal history”. :yippee::cool::yippee::pirate::hubba:
But what day is it and where am I going:?: 😉 :rofl2: 😆 :rofl2:
BUT I did not make these GREAT Emos, either. Brainless (not) Wonder.
But its really not the deer…the tick is called deer tick but the problem is the mice. I can see that there are too many deer because the winters are so mild these past years and the hunting season is pretty nonexistent here…
There is a creation that Im interested in that is a big barrel with 4 or 5 large bristle brushes that stick up and have a topical medication dispenser in the brushes…so they can fill the barrel with corn or whatever and then when the deer put their heads in to feed they brush against the medicine. So it can be used for not only a frontline sort of stuff, but also for birth control.
The problem here is somewhere between the cost of the barrels which is somethign like a couple of grand to treat alot of square acres (cant remember exactly but I was pretty impressed) and the laws in effect to not feed wild deer….
But damn…if they cant get aorund that and would porefer to bring in a paid archer to count and cull the herd…its just insane!
Give them topical birth control for a few years and some frontline, and see what happens!
If they would just change the feeding wild animals law I would get one of those barrels myself. And Im on the edge of a 400 acre preserve….
pristime personal history? wouldyou really want that? Whats there gonna be to look back on that was fun when old age sets in and we’re all in the rocking chair?:yippee:
Of course I could do away with the dysfunctional family torture stuff….
Finally getting around to watching Parts III and IV of Spike Lee’s Katrina documentary. God, I so much hope the people’s eyes have been opened to his bunch of cowards and thieves.
I might settle for plausible deniability.
Tres cool 😎 Melina regarding the bristle brushes. Also, I am fighting with the Fish and Game regarding Pellets to give Anti-Rabbies for raccoons, skunks, and (o)possums. Stop making roads and care for the wild.
RE SNAKE … Great Luck. (But can you put a few mice so one isn’t alone, to die alone, then remove the extras.) Snake will eat the one. When friends were younger, they were into snakes. As was I when younger — not now although I was born in year of (Water) snake. After hubby went to LA to work, I wouln’t even kill (and skin) rattlesnakes. Although I use :knit: the rattles and skins of past conquests :wink:
I am a Reed. Or a Scorpio. Both are quite similar.
PJ, I thought you were an adorable Rat :rofl2: 😆 :rofl2: I save Scorpions now, but use to kill them. (giggle) THE RAGE 😉 has her hands full 😮 :rofl2: 😉
Thanks for the tick info everyone. It’s never been this bad here. Frontline always worked before. And it may very well be working now, those ticks weren’t on her very long before I found them. But I did notice that they still ride in on them and drop onto the floor. Maybe I’ll get some powder too and put it on her legs and paws. I can’t deal with the thought of ticks in my house, I’m not gonna be able to sleep.
PJ, how is your radio and is it making money or at least balancing? Are you using their Ads to pay for it?
I am a rat, too, in the Chinese calendar. But a Reed, in the Celtic Astrology (or so I’m told; I do not profess to be an expert), or Scorpio.
Oh, there are no ads. It’s running from one of my computers here at the house, so it doesn’t cost anything. It’s “revenue neutral” as they say. :rofl2:
If I can find Celtic Calendar (somewhere in home/office 😮 or library double ) I will see when The Reed is Mwah HaHa :rofl2:
Nothing to say; just wanted to get to 200. :yippee:
Dru, I dont know if I could do the mouse thing. He is probably eating chipmonks by now…he is longer than me and weighs alot!
I keep 2 corn snakes that Will got when they were tiny babies. They are trained to eat frozen mice, so I usually have a hundred or so frozen mice in the freezer…its a real drag when your egtting an ice cream at night and theyre all in there with their little eyes closed…but, its the circle of life, and they gas them to death so its less violent than bein swallowed alive.
I dont think that the wild snake would eat them….and Im not in any state ot order the alternatives that are offered by the frozen moue company…lets just say that they provide frozen food for carnivores that are pretty damned large….up to rabbit, I think….
Im not gonna mention the rest….
PJ- I got through the first episode of Spikes Katrina thing and I was crying so badly that I havent had the heart to watch the rest yet….the pictures of the dead bodies at the end of the first episode were just heartbreaking.
Maybe I should make a commercial for my vitamins to run on seditionsit radio….I was trying to get a Skype thing today but Staples on ly had 2 expensive ones…and I had to get a new all in one…ended up with an HP that is not only wireless but has a strip to scan negatives or slides. It just made sense to bump up to the higher one because I can put it in another oom if I want and it cuts down on wires! And it has legal size and double sided copying and all sorts of photo things that I will never use in its lifetime…but I may scan all my negatives to preserve them. YOu can also print pictures from the negs too.
But the Skype thing…They were saying that I need to go to Comp USA or Circuit City…maybe will check Amazon.
and for 203- I will say nite-nite folks….
I thought and hoped but then again I think all should be … teehee . Regarding The Reed that is the reason I do not use The Celtic Oracle :rofl2: because I am in denial still. Ivy or Mistletoe is more direct to what is. I am a Druid or Duir or OAK BUT dash it all, you are forcing me to see The Reed Again 😮 I left that behind in the mountains  But I like Broom or Willow or Vine … I do have a Leo Rising. 😉
I like acorns and gather seeds from ancient Redwood trees. But I guess I will be the _____ in the Wind  Bah Humbug
I should make a fire … :dancers:

GOP candidate dredges up old talking points about pandas and prostitutes to attack Democrat

A new political ad from Republican candidate Vernon Robinson opens with a picture of a soldier’s coffin draped with the American flag, and proceeds to run off a litany of charges against incumbent Rep. Brad Miller (D-NC), including accusations that Miller voted to support studies of elderly masturbation, Vietnamese prostitutes and panda bears. The ad follows…

(CNN) — The war in Iraq has not made the world safer from terror, Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has told CNN, saying he stands by statements on the subject he makes in his new book, “In the Line of Fire.”
In the book, Musharraf — a key ally who is often portrayed as being in complete agreement with U.S. President George W. Bush on the war on terror and other issues — writes he never supported the 2003 U.S. invasion of Iraq.
“I stand by it, absolutely,” Musharraf told CNN’s “The Situation Room.” Asked whether he disagreed with Bush, he said, “I’ve stated whatever I had to … it [the war] has made the world a more dangerous place.”
He also addressed allegations that Pakistan was a less-than-enthusiastic recruit into the war on terror and that former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Richard Armitage told a Pakistani official that the United States would bomb Pakistan “back to the stone age” if it did not cooperate with Washington after the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

WASHINGTON (CNN) — Two Presbyterian ministers were among 71 people arrested during a series of peaceful protests against the Iraq war Tuesday, said a spokeswoman for a group participating in the protests.
Demonstrators held sit-ins, prayer services and sing-alongs at four locations in the Capitol complex, including the central atrium of the Senate Hart Office Building.
The demonstrations were reminiscent of the Vietnam era, with protesters strumming guitars, singing peace songs, holding flowers and wearing hats made of balloons

Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) and Senator Chris Dodd (D-CT) introduced emergency legislation to amend the Help America Vote Act (HAVA) this afternoon to offer funding to states and counties who make ‘contingency paper ballots’ available to voters to be used at the voter’s option instead of electronic voting systems.
The so-called contingency paper ballots would be counted as normal ballots, as opposed to Provisional Ballots which must be vetted first to determine the integrity of the voter’s registration. Provisional ballots are frequently counted only several days after Election Day, and often, not at all. The Senate legislation, however, does not spell that out specifically.
The BRAD BLOG has learned from a source currently working on similar legislation in the House, set to be filed there shortly, will include such specific language. Several Capitol Hill sources have confirmed that such legislation is currently in the works. We hope to have more details on the Houes version later today.
The inclusion of Dodd as a co-sponsor on this 11th hour legislation is no small coup, as he was one of the original co-sponsors of the HAVA legislation of 2002 which this bill would amend. Until now, he and the other bi-partisan co-sponsors of that original legislation have been reluctant to open HAVA to amendment.
The legislation, filed just after 4pm ET this afternoon, would refund voting jurisdictions who offer paper ballots as an option to voters, and requires such jurisdictions post “in a conspicuous manner at the polling place, a notice stating that contingency paper ballots are available at the polling place and that a voter may request to use such a ballot at the voter’s discretion.”
Election integrity advocacy groups and citizens alike have been rallying members of both the U.S. House and Senate to pass such legislation since The BRAD BLOG initially called for what we had called, the “LET AMERICA VOTE ACT” last Tuesday. The act we called for would mandate emergency paper ballots at all polling places this November in light of thousands of voters having been sent without being able to cast a vote in primary after primary election so far this year when new electronic voting machines either malfunctioned or were otherwise unavailable…

Most Iraqis Favor Immediate U.S. Pullout, Polls Show
Leaders’ Views Out of Step With Public
By Amit R. Paley
Washington Post Staff Writer
Wednesday, September 27, 2006; Page A22
BAGHDAD, Sept. 26 — A strong majority of Iraqis want U.S.-led military forces to immediately withdraw from the country, saying their swift departure would make Iraq more secure and decrease sectarian violence, according to new polls by the State Department and independent researchers.
In Baghdad, for example, nearly three-quarters of residents polled said they would feel safer if U.S. and other foreign forces left Iraq, with 65 percent of those asked favoring an immediate pullout, according to State Department polling results obtained by The Washington Post.
Another new poll, scheduled to be released on Wednesday by the Program on International Policy Attitudes at the University of Maryland, found that 71 percent of Iraqis questioned want the Iraqi government to ask foreign forces to depart within a year. By large margins, though, Iraqis believed that the U.S. government would refuse the request, with 77 percent of those polled saying the United States intends to keep permanent military bases in the country.
The stark assessments, among the most negative attitudes toward U.S.-led forces since they invaded Iraq in 2003, contrast sharply with views expressed by the government of Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. Last week at the United Nations, President Jalal Talabani said coalition troops should remain in the country until Iraqi security forces are “capable of putting an end to terrorism and maintaining stability and security.”…
***
“The very fact that there is such a low support for American forces has to do with the American failure to do basically anything for Iraqis,” said Mansoor Moaddel, a professor of sociology at Eastern Michigan University, who commissioned a poll earlier this year that also found widespread support for a withdrawal. “It’s part of human nature. People respect authority and power. But the U.S. so far has been unable to establish any real authority.”…

I don’t know is it still yeserday ???.. Where King Kong is its already Thursday.
Iraqis have been saying that for quite some time now. Of course it doesn’t really matter what the people in the country want. I’m sure they don’t want to be blown to bits either.
yay, it’s Fred :pup::pup::pup: Is today Wednesday? Maybe it’s not and I’m just really screwed up in my thinking?
Sen. Trent Lott (R-Miss.) is threatening to punish Democrats for using an Appropriations Committee room for an unofficial hearing on Iraq oversight if it happens again.
“They better stop this,” the Mississippi Republican said. “This will be the last one or there will be retribution.”
Lott suggested that Republicans could hold GOP-only hearings or seek other forms of payback.
But if he is looking for a culprit in abetting the Democratic Policy Committee’s (DPC) hearing yesterday, he need look no further than fellow Mississippi Republican Thad Cochran, chairman of the Appropriations Committee, who controls the Dirksen Building room that Democrats used yesterday and have used for past hearings.
But Lott and other Republicans are upset that Democrats have gone outside the committee process to highlight the Iraq war before the November election.
“They’re abusing the system,” Lott said.

Hopefully the dog won’t think you are taking her away ..is she potty trained yet ??
Hey KP, congratulations on getting the puppy home! Hope your first night went a-ok. A tick collar is what you need if the ticks are that bad. That way they will not even get on her. With frontline they have to actually bite her before they die. The collars aren’t cheap, but they are incredibly effective. Any vet should have one.
Really, have they improved tick collars then? They always seemed pretty ineffectual. How do they work? I mean, doesn’t the tick have to touch the active ingredient? The collar works on the ticks in the toes?
Rep Joe Wilson(R) South Carolina is now spinning the NIE on C-span.. Like I said yesterday he says well if they ( the occupied) are standing up and fighting us we will kill them .. Imperialist dushbag :tommygun::tommygun::tommygun:

Well, I’ll try it then. I find ticks in her toes every time she goes outside. But not as many now that I sprayed the yard.

House Passes Ban on Permanent Iraq Bases
By Noam N. Levey, Times Staff Writer
September 27, 2006
WASHINGTON — Congress is on the verge of barring the construction of permanent bases for U.S. forces in Iraq, a move aimed at quelling concerns in the Arab world that American forces will remain in the war-torn country indefinitely.
The ban, which was inserted into the annual defense spending bill, won House approval Tuesday night when the chamber overwhelmingly approved the mammoth defense appropriations bill, 394-22.

Now they will very prominent looking temporary bases :rant1:
While taking a self-defence class, Borat asked the instructor to teach him how to defend against the “Jew Claw”, and then he made a claw with his hand and had the instructor defend himself against it. Similarly, while hunting he asked if it was legal to shoot Jews, to which his host replied that he would have no problem with that even if some would.
Borat has been known to talk about the fictional ‘Tishniek’ massacre, including during his ‘Soul Motion’ Dance class where he depicted the massacre and proceeded to explain how many Uzbekistanis were “crushed” on that day. He later told how he was “very proud” of the massacre and said it was not sad because “it is us who do the kill”. He has also managed to persuade the Republican Committee of Pima Country, Arizona to stand in silence for ten minutes to commemorate the 14th anniversary of the massacre.

Christian Coalition starting anew in Ga.
September 27, 2006
ATLANTA –Georgia’s branch of the Christian Coalition has announced plans to change names and split from the national group — making it the fourth state to leave the socially conservative political group.
Director Sadie Fields said the Georgia branch’s board voted about two weeks ago to make the change because of the Christian Coalition of America’s liberal “drift.”
snip
Fields said she became concerned by the changing direction of the national organization, which now takes stances on issues like the minimum wage, the environment and Internet law instead of core issues like abortion and same-sex marriage.
Combs agreed the coalition had begun broadening its agenda. “Family values reach beyond abortion and gay marriage,” she said.

:tinfoil:.
why is our antiwar movement so passive?
The reasons for this are many. The Democrats–the so-called “opposition” party in the U.S.–have provided crucial support for the war and occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan. There’s also the hold of liberalism–which from the time of FDR through Clinton has always supported an aggressive U.S. foreign policy–on the U.S. left. The low level of class struggle, despite the huge inequalities of U.S. society and workers’ growing alienation from the political establishment, is another factor.
Another crucial reason for the weakness of the antiwar movement is the political course chosen by United for Peace and Justice (UFPJ), the largest and most visible antiwar coalition in the U.S.
UFPJ’s main claim to leadership was the role it played in organizing the U.S. end of the worldwide antiwar protests on February 15-16, 2003, a month before the invasion took place.
Yet in the three-and-a-half years since, UFPJ has organized only a very small number of national mobilizations. And even these have not always been unambiguously antiwar demonstrations. For example, the clear target of UFPJ’s protest outside the Republican National Convention in August 2004 was George Bush, not the war on Iraq, which has taken place with bipartisan support.
This past spring, meanwhile, some coalition leaders explicitly described the New York City demonstration on April 29–which UFPJ cosponsored with a wide array of liberal groups–as part of a broader mobilization behind the Democrats in the 2006 election.
UFPJ’s response to the major crisis points for U.S. policy since the invasion–the leveling of Falluja, the Abu Ghraib torture scandal, the threats to attack Iran, the recent Israeli-U.S. assault against Lebanon–has been feeble in terms of protest, while its emphasis on building support for the so-called antiwar Democrats in Congress has grown more distinct.
