Where is everybody? only four hours to Maron.
Didn’t mean to disparage Rochester, Ithaca, Buffalo et al yesterday- they’re all in the north west [US 90]- if you travel due north [US 87] from NYC, you don’t hit any of them – its moosecall radio and worse.
Actually, NW New York has better radio, in my experience, than NYC.
So whats’ it going to be Dems, impeachment now, or let the GOP twist in the wind while Bush/Cheney destroy their party? And untold innocents die. Like the Russians holding back outside of Warsaw, letting the Nazis murder the Jews and put down the uprising? Less attractive when it’s put that way, huh?:sammy:
is it Maron time yet? huh? huh?
:joe:
Morning!
Hope the wackos don’t come out of the woodwork again today.

Oh, they might. That’s what wackos do. Hard to believe anybody is so desperate for attention that they’d bother with coming here. I hope his mom takes away his computer again.

Feds to Start Removing Wolf Protections
By JOHN MILLER
The Associated Press
Tuesday, December 19, 2006; 8:32 PM
BOISE, Idaho — The head of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service said Tuesday his agency will start removing federal protections from gray wolves in Montana and Idaho by January, regardless of whether Wyoming has submitted an acceptable plan to manage its own wolves by then.
Wyoming’s plan is tied up in lawsuits, and Fish and Wildlife Director Dale Hall said his agency is moving ahead with Idaho and Montana, where management plans are already in place.
Defenders of Wildlife, which advocates on behalf of wolves, vowed to fight the move, saying delisting by state is illegal.

Rethugs are 👿
They have a serious case of OCD, the poor dears. Glad you’re adept at keeping ’em at bay, pj.
Fred, it was 75 here yesterday. I think I moved to KP’s neighborhood. :hot:
What’s happening here? Well, the damn basketball team went and lost to Drexel last night, which sucks. And there’s no snow on the ground – supposed to get above 50 today. I guess I won’t complain, but it looks much brighter with a little snow. Of course, we’re all looking forward to the big holiday. No, not that one. The New Year’s Eve Twilight Zone Marathon, which has been a tradition in this house for many years now.
Oh, and I see y’all are getting Alan Iverson out your way, Fred. Damn shame Carmelo had to go and throw a punch, when he was leading the league in scoring (not that I really care about the NBA, but I follow the Syracuse guys). If ‘Melo had stayed here for all four years (or even two), he’d know better than to act that way.
Road to White House may cost $1 billion
The chairman of the Federal Election Commission yesterday predicted that 2008 will produce the first $1 billion presidential race and that the $500 million that each party’s candidate will need to compete will severely limit the field of contenders.
“The 2008 presidential election will be the longest and most expensive in United States history,” FEC Chairman Michael E. Toner told The Washington Times.

The only problem with Marc on AAR is that the Young Jerks are on before he is ..This is almost like listening to C-span :yuck::yuck:
I try to keep up, so I don’t know how I missed this until yesterday:
Bush is purchasing nearly 100,000 acres in Paraguay.
What’s the first thing that comes to mind with Paraguay? If it’s not asylum for war criminals, you haven’t been paying attention for a few decades.
Paraguay also has the second largest deposit of natural gas in the western hemisphere (Enron & Shell), the fourth largest soy crop in the world (Monsanto & genetic engineering), sits partially on the largest freshwater aquifer in South America, has 1.5 million acres already in the hands of major Bush family contributor and supporter Sun Myung Moon, and U.S. special forces arriving at Paraguay’s Mariscal Estigarribia air base which Rummy visited last year. Now mix in that pesky trend toward increasingly leftist governments in nearby Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Equador, Bolivia and Chile nationalizing their immense natural resources and using them to bridge the gap between rich and poor. Then consider possible War Crime Charges being filed by the International Committee for the Red Cross and imagine why the Bush family setting up shop in (escaping to?) Paraguay makes perfect sense for world corporatism.
Not hard, is it? Or maybe Bush just thinks capybaras are cute.

So, why impeach now? Because it’s not just for us. We must use what remains of a system of justice that was once the envy of the world to help save that world. If the people of this world who aspire to live under the principles established by our constitutional republic watch us ignore our responsibilities and let this criminal cabal loose to wreak havoc on a continent struggling to emerge from the abuses of U.S. domination, C.I.A. backed coups, corporate exploitation and murderous dictatorships, they will witness the repudiation of our constitutional inheritance.
For the simple principle of justice, here’s what we must do, all in proper order:
INVESTIGATE
IMPEACH
INDICT
IMPRISON
Personally I would rather go the
REVOLT
BLOW UP
EXECUTE BY FIRING SQUAD
route
Pay close attention to how the Iraqi’s rid themselves of capitalism gone wild .. :yuck::yuck::gate::omg::jason::jason::reaper::reaper:

Wherever the Young Jerks come from, why did they choose to adapt the name of a reformationist movement of the Ottoman Empire that embraced social darwinism and elitism?
Didn’t think that one through much, did ya guys?

I never thought I’d long for a Wendy Friesen commercial.
Fred, I saw 10 , screamed hysterically — then breathed deeply since I had tons of work to do before going to step ONE. I am now up here though and … shaking, tearing, lividas I figure if I can still do what I did. I had a mouse caught on a glue trap that was alive (some exterminator had put them down even though I dont like them)…and I pulled it off with gloves on…and put the half bald thing into a tank…then it was snowing out (last year, I think) and so I kept it for the longest time in the hopes of a break in the weather…finally I took it way down the road to a horse barn (sorry Kat!) and let it go by the barn in the stone wall….heh heh….so it lived to poop another day.
I use poison stations now.

I’ve been hearing on the msm for the last day that only half of the money dedicated to the tsunami has been spent; implying governmental graft- but I heard on the radio that many hundreds of millions pledged have never been received. Another example of msm misleading lazy journalism :slap:

Of course I cant make it through American Airlines without speaking my mind and I get sick at the slightest stressfilled situation…so what good would I be except to try to organize a coup?
Art, A military coup would bypass the entire constitutional process. You know. That process which the Dems we elected are discarding in spite of it being a mandate from that electorate.
If we’re gonna have a coup, the Congress should be detained until they pledge to give us what we demanded! IIII

I cant believe that he hasnt done his time in Iraq already…I know that he probably wants to be there because its history and all that…and his place in the worldis as a witness and messenger…but, man…I wish he did tn have to go back THERE….I wish we were redeploying right now….with the aim to get out this next year…so the stories would be all coming home stories….
It seems like its all madness at this point there….I feel so badly for the regular iraqis who never asked for more than just to live their lives…the children….
Which is the right order? AIV ? or AVI ?
The logical answer would be bodies in the streets- but without the fear of a draft, I’m afraid that by the time the :sheep:le figure out how fully they’re fucked, the bushevilempire will be filling up the halliburton built ‘detention’ centers being built in unknown locations.

PJ- we just missed that guy who Marc played with at Gothem at comix last week…..what was his name? Dumbo mcRubberface….
I doubt that one could promote a coup at the top levels of the military . The pentagon is a lot like a corporations head office .. a place full of yes men ..
What might happen is that an armored division or two would refuse to go to Iraq while taking over their bases and creating a situation where the rest of the army would have to fight “the war” on American soil. If the state in which they are located would happen to get their National Guard involved in the insurgency things would get messy very fast .. States usually have both army and air force National Guard units but not all states have units that are combat units.
The people on the other hand are armed and everywhere .:eek:
I’m off to gift shop in Baraboo. Later, all.

I’ve been clinging to this fantasy for the last six years that the European Union would unite against us ecomonically re: ‘sanctions’ to correct our immoral corp “ass” president but that was very naive. Like the dems watching on the sidelines, they’ve just been content to watch us melt into impotence and eventual irrelevance 😯
Look at the “civil strife” in Iraq and think what would happen here if there were groups of maybe 40 people armed with automatic weapons and maybe several hundred tons of fertilizer in every city of 100,000 or more population. Less than 8000 insurgents kept three German divisions tied up in France for all of WWII.. What one needs is sponsorship .

The general thought in military tactics is that an offense if the best defense ..despite what a Fartman or Malloy might say the insurgency in Iraq is standing up to armored units . All those tanks awaiting repair didn’t get that way by driving over curbs.. 😮 Hezbollah managed to stimey the Israeli advance into Lebanon with just some well armed infantry .. The same was also true in the battle of the bulge.:eek:

Morning!
Okay, I am a day behind in listening to Marc because if I wake up to listen I won’t be making it to work. Work ruins everything.
But going to the discussion between Fidel, Glen and Marc – I realized one crucial thing – Bruce Cherry is freaking hilarious.
I nearly rolled over listening to that skit. It was brave and strangely prescient. The Michael Richards spoof was hilarious.
But back to Glen and Fidel – Marc is on target in that if they were personally offended, no apology will truly suffice – even an honest one.
I agree that words that are contemptuous and hateful in their use cause anger from both sides – but what do we really lose when the free flow of ideas is stifled by saying to another that You can’t say certain words at all. The words are in all aspects, quoting George Carlin, neutral. It’s the Context used by the hate-filled soul that is spouting their vile that we have to be concerned with.
But for my own edification, the event that Glen was talking about – was that the discussion about Brokeback Mountain that he is so upset about?
:sammy:

As Fred said yesterday, it’s feeling a little drafty in here.
(Right said Fred!)
:tommygun::tommygun::tommygun:
At this point, I almost wish he WOULD try to bring back the draft. That might be the one thing that gets people off their asses and mobilized to take action to throw these assholes out of office.

Bird news from Red Hook Brooklyn:
This morning a hawk, probably a red tail, put I’m not sure, landed in my little backyard, ate a few tree buds and flew away. I have never seen a hawk in this part of the City. I know they’re in Manhattan around Central Park. I assume there are some in Brooklyn around Prospect park, but not in places like Red Hook. It was nice to see him.
Well, I was once again reminded that December is always a big let down, no matter where I am. Anyway…
Oh, yeah, I don’t really have that much to contribute, so that’s why I stopped posting for a while. Sorry if my post just get in the way of the stuff you actually came here to see
re 112 – I’ve listened to a lot of old MS shows during the past
year but I don’t recall any high school group touring the studio.
Do you?
The Brokeback Mountain skit was hilarious – I don’t recall it
being offensive (edgy, maybe). What I do recall is a very serious discussion Maron started one day after some news out of the Vatican about their position on gays. He asked listeners how they could continue to be part of the church; at what point does your conscience force you out of an institution with such hateful policies? Marc was passionate, demanding that we search our souls and identify the
limits of our tolerance of bigotry. No hater there.
I love the way Marc analyzes events while analyzing his own analysis of those events and worrying about how he is coming across to us. It’s as if he speaking in all those little voices that are talking in our own heads all at once. The reason you can listen to Maron over and over is that on second listening you sometimes catch one of those sub-conversations that you missed the first time around.
Someone brought this up yesterday, and I realized what Glen was talking about when he said it.
It was the New School in NY – which from my understanding is a university. It’s where they tape, or used to tape, “Inside the Actors Studio.” No high school students there.
If anyone was there under the age of 18, they went there on their own accord, but just based on common sense, there is NO WAY they would tape any episode of Morning Sedition at a high school.

Artnorton, :rofl2: :doh:I can hardly keep up with you 😮
SNOW — first year about 18′ (easy) snowdrifts and WE (whatever)
years to follow it was not as bad, but snow shoes was about it. We were snowed in for literally 3 months then had to pay to get US OUT — But the snow was Beautifully :dancers::reaper:. Then we moved to coastal mountains, were it would get about 2-8ft.
But I was for there — alone — for 8 years. 😮 :omg:

When one hits “BACKSPACE” does it have “a beat”?
(  A computer question.)

C’mon Art. When I was living in Coal Creek canyon we got 4′ in about 18 hours. And don’t get me started about my adventures living in Gold Hill. OY!
😀
I did it again. :smack: I forgot to say Hello Everybody!
They are reporting snow fall rates of 2 to 4 inches per hour and it is susposed to snow through noon tomorrow .It looks like we have about 14 inches on the ground ..The storm covers about a state and a half and is headed east. Christmas in Noexcuse might be lots of fun this year.
Owens declares state of emergency; most of I-25 closed in Colorado
(snip)
Owens also activated the National Guard to help the Colorado Department of Transportation and the Colorado State Patrol aid stranded drivers.

Fred, you’re home now, right? Stay safe, warm and cozy all you snowy people!
This storm is an upslope condition where humid air from the Gulf is pushed up against the east side of the mountains. They have less snow in the higher elevations than we do in the metro area. They are reporting 20 inches of snow on the ground already in the western part of Nebraska :eek:
Nah, we don’t have more than snow fluffy or two in the forecast between now and January 3rd. Not that that can’t change, of course. But it looks like a green Christmas – oops, I mean, X-mas – for us. Too bad, I was gonna buy my wife a new shovel and everything.
I got off about lunch time .. I think by the time I got my vehicle cleaned off and drove the half a mile home it took about an hour . Waste Management didn’t come after the trash either so its out there for the duration now .:eek::paranoid:
DIA closed until further notice, passengers stuck on planes
DIA spokesperson Steve Snyder says the blizzard conditions were much worse than they expected.
All flights were cancelled because of the closure.
Airline passengers called into 9NEWS claiming they were trapped on planes parked on the tarmac at Denver International Airport since the morning.
Passengers told 9NEWS they had outgoing flights Wednesday morning but have yet to take off and their planes have not returned to the gates as of 3 p.m.
Some passengers claim they sat on the plane for up to five hours with only water.

That water must have cost the airlines money

Well, my hubby will not be WE (Whenever) be here for Solstice, since he has the FLU bad, but I “think” that is a LALALAND Concept since we (especially up “north” up here have to do it all and take care of kids on top. I am not amused BUT everyone (of the several of the kindda young friends) up here made sure I felt no ultimate sorrow. How sweet. They “broke” everything to make sure I was not feeling pain, when they called and realized. Gosh but 😎 MEDICINE 😆 😉 Cheers:!:
:bong: but still and always (but with a smile now:dancers:) 😆 :parrot: :pirate: :growl: :fist: (HiiiYaaa)

AIV Fred this snow doesn’t hurt.
PJ, Thank You. Snow. It can hurt but Always Beautiful. I am no longer in the snow as so many here are, including you. So Exquisitely Beautiful your gift to the Blog is. Poetically Beautiful.sniff

re: 120….I hadnt realized the pot thing was so big here until today when we were in this americano mall (complete with mcdonalds and subway) and the tee shirts were so pot oriented…and they have so many pipes and bongs and stuff for sale. They had a pipe that was a big dick….Guess who I amost got that for?….Then they had a flute that was also a dick and Will wanted it as a joke!! So I had to say no to both!
I love the snow!! Its so funny to be in a place like this with x-mas trees and all…and then go to the mall and see the huge nativity scene on the centro fountain…..and remember that I have a bunch of presents to wrap when and if I ever get home…..
Mom is worried that the storm may be turning towards the east.
I wonder……and if we got diverted, where would we end up?
Its all very exciting but would be better if I could recover formthis horrible painful illness…the muscle aches alone are enough to kiil ya without the nausea….so bad….
Maybe Ill watch a video.
Im avoiding international CNN because I dont want to see Bush….but I suppose I have to read the speech sooner or later if I want to be able to talk about things in any sort of reaosnable way….
Melina, :rofl2: 😮 :rofl2: ?!? Will  :rofl2:

I wonder who Melina is talking about in post 153. :nana:
How much snow you got now Fred?:cold:
If you’re gonna get me a dick shaped bong I want some pot to go with it! Bring me back some please. I need to get f***ed up. He He, I need to get . . . .
So I’m hoping tomorrow is a slow day so I can stay home. Make for an even longer weekend. I so envy you Fred with all the snow!
Melina re 154, gosh I didn’t realize you still have. Sounds similar to what hubby has. (his mommy is taking care of him down in LA . (alright, i’ll play nice re hmmm.)
Melina, Was it a flu-ish or “the water”? 😮 How many days has it been? about a week you have been :yuck: ?

It’s pretty chilly out here in Aridzona, Fred :cold: It’s spose to get to 33 tonight. I should have covered everything but I don’t feel like it. It’ll be a little warmewr than that here in Tempe I bet. I guess I’ll leave the heater on all night tonight. :cold:

Well I just got back from a Q&A with our new congressperson Joe Sestak. I like him a little more than I did before and trust him more as well. Although we disagreed on impeachment – I had a feeling we would – on most of the big stuff we had common ground. He was very honest, didn’t try to bullshit his way through with non-answers, if he didn’t know something he said so. It was supposed to last an hour, he stayed for two, and this was Delco Wage Peace/Justice group. Not exactly the people that politicians are reaching out to. All in all not bad.
Forgot to bring the camera. DOH!
Hey Druid, Hey Andy :peace:
Melina you should go see a doctor. Seriously, make sure it’s nothing.
Hey Krista, didn’t see that post right away. I had to go do all my manly single guy stuff – finish the dishes, clean the stove top.
On this first night to hear Mike’s program, I just heard the recording (I think I had heard a tad bit of a “collage” right after) … of that man crying, pleading. with a bansidhe wailing a death cry for help …… I have to “put on office” wall, to forever haunt until I and others get him out!
AVI
Yeah, That’s single girl stuff too. I may leave it til morning, there’s not much.
Hey Aquaman- How long ago in Gold Hill? I haven’t been up there in years. Someone my wife works with lives up Coal Creek and commutes across town to Cherry Creek. She made it in today and then they closed the office. Takes a different kind of person to live in the hills. I lived in Nederland for about 9 months back in the seventies. I couldn’t take all the alcoholism. Did you used to go the mexican restaurant at the top of Coal Creek off Peak-to-Peak highway? :40:
Gold Hill 1982-1983
CCC 1984-1986
If I can find it there’s a picture of my truck in front of the cabin and all you can see is part of the roofline of the cab. The top of the cab was about 6’2″.
andy aka Aquaman, re Melina and 154 :applause: 😉
AIV
The Wonderview Cafe. Best mexican on the planet. I lived right behind the German restaurant before you get to Wondervu.
85 Copperdale Lane
Cherry Creek – south of Denver?
The Wonderview ❗ Yeah! the best. That german restaurant is gone now. I always laugh at the amount of money people spend on german food when they come to Colorado. I mean come on :sheep:le, it’s only sausages and potatoes :rofl2:
You wouldn’t believe the changes in Blackhawk (used to be one gas station on the way up the hill). Now Las Vegas sized casino’s carved out of the mountain-sides.:omg:
Central City built a highway off of I-70 to get all the traffic that Black Hawk was stealing. And to think that I voted for it to “save the mom-and-pop store owners :billcat: What a scam :fu:
Yeah, south and east of downtown. When I was living in Nederland I was working in Aurora past the old airport. I drove 100 miles round trip every day:doh:
Oh my god. Central City and Blackhawk were so cool 20 years ago, all the victorian gingerbread and by and large pretty quiet. The usual tourista crap but not that bad.
A damn shame.
My buddy and I used to take my pickup and look for old mining roads and railroad beds and them till we found something or didn’t. Say what is the name of that ghost town behind Nederland up high, like at 10,500 or 11000 feet.
Eldora. Funky little ski area on the side of the mountain. There’s actually people who live up there year round- lots of summer cabins. Did you ever :40: or :alc: at the Pioneer Inn in Nederland……,
Why am I even asking ? Of ccccoooouuuurrrrssee you did:rofl2:
Eldora, that’s it. I think I went to the Pioneer once. When I was living up there it was all biker gangs so I didn’t really partake of the “night life”.
I used to go to mass at St. Rita’s. Great church, the priest came from Longmont and was a real liberal. He would always preface any scripture reading with a geo-political history of the setting. Fascinating.
The confessional was the broom closet. If I had a church like that here I’d still be a Catholic.
Oh I forgot, the German restaurant, took my in-laws there for dinner one night. Honestly, damn good food.
Now the biker ‘gangs’ are rich yuppies who can afford the (now) expensive real estate in the mountains and the retro Harlies.
Rollinsville is pretty much the same but development continues to grow like a cancer :spank:
I moved to Boulder in 1972. It was the greatest little college town on the planet and you could rent a decent aprtment for $450. Now you can’t walk down the street without smelling the money. High density building out of the downtown area topped by 2 MILLION dollar condo’s. 😡
Is Saint Rita’s the little church by the resivoir in Nederland or the beautiful little stone compound on the way to Estes?
By the resevoir. The log cabin. The stone one is something else. I took alook inside on day, very cool.
I can’t figure out where all those people make all that money, there just were never that many decent paying jobs.
Three words- trust fund babies
Off to bed- gotta lotta shovlin’ to do tomorrow
Where do you live now?
:peace:
Brookhaven Pa. About 10 miles south of Philly.
Goodnight Art, I gotta hit the sack myself.
Today, Bush said go shopping more. Elayne Boosler, subbing for Steph12, predicted that if a woman president had said that, she would be impeached.
