Twas the day before Christmas, and what do we see? A buncha fuckin’ wingnuts, all over the teevee.
On Press the Meat, Timmy Potatohead tries to infuse us with some of that old-time religion, as he hosts Rick Warren, Pastor of the Saddleback Church (who is apparently a bit controversial with the rest of the Christo-fascist zombie brigade, having deigned to invite that heathen Barack Obama to speak at his church), and Newsweek editor, author of “American Gospel,” and smug self-righteous DC “insider,” John Meachem. Then it’ll be the ghost of Robert Frost, and a stirring combination of death and Christianity, as the United States Navy Band Brass Quartet favors us with a few holiday ditties.
Over on CBS’s Faze the Nation, Bush Buddy Bobby Schieffer gets an exclusive one-on-one with Thorazine Queen Laura Bush, who will be on to talk about the shin tumor she had removed, and whether or not it was more qualified to be president than that dry (at best) drunk moron she’s shacked up with.
Over on the Goebbels Network, George Snufalufagus has the day’s token Democrat, Chris Dodd, on with li’l Lindsey Graham, to talk about what a great idea it is to send a “surge” of troops to Iraq. Plus, new UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon will be on for some holiday talk of genocide in Darfur, and war in Iraq. Then George Bush the first and his evil hag of a wife Barbara are on to talk about how well the colored folks from New Orleans are doing, and to talk about the work of the Salvation Army (hopefully their idiot son isn’t planning on deploying them to Iraq). And, proving once again that you can, in fact, put a square head around a Roundtable, it’s George :jerk: Will, plus ABC reporter Jonathan Karl, and Melinda Henneberger of HuffingtonPost.com.
Over at Fux News Sunday, it’s Mrs. Darth Cheney, whose lesbian fantasy novel turned their daughter Mary gay. Fuxface Chris Wallace will also have the archbishop of Washington DC, Donald Wuerhl, and Billy Graham’s daughter. Wow, better fire up the DVR for that one.
Over at Wolf Blitzer’s Late Emission, it’s your chance to see all those interviews you weren’t interested in the first time around, as Wolfie reruns his greatest hits, including such classic guests as the Chimp in Chief, his pet Lizard Queen, and of course Lynne Cheney. Plus Wolfie will toss in a few token Democrats, and maybe some Arabs and Israeli’s for good measure.
Later, on 60 Minutes, Scott Pelley does a story on ocean swimmer Lynne Cox, Lesley Stahl reports on Rex, who was born blind and with severe brain damage, but plays a mean piano, and Bob Simon visits the elephant orphanage.
No Simspons tonight, but you can watch Spiderman on Fox instead, or, better yet, catch It’s a Wonderful Life on NBC. Yeah, you’ve seen it a billion times, but what the hell, it’s still a classic. Then put some cookies out for Santa, and get to bed early.
Have a good Sunday.

Disappearing World: Global Warming Claims Tropical Island
UK Independent (12/24/06) — Rising seas, caused by global warming, have for the first time washed an inhabited island off the face of the Earth. The obliteration of Lohachara island, in India’s part of the Sundarbans where the Ganges and the Brahmaputra rivers empty into the Bay of Bengal, marks the moment when one of the most apocalyptic predictions of environmentalists and climate scientists has started coming true.
As the seas continue to swell, they will swallow whole island nations, from the Maldives to the Marshall Islands, inundate vast areas of countries from Bangladesh to Egypt, and submerge parts of scores of coastal cities.
Eight years ago, as exclusively reported in The Independent on Sunday, the first uninhabited islands – in the Pacific atoll nation of Kiribati – vanished beneath the waves. The people of low-lying islands in Vanuatu, also in the Pacific, have been evacuated as a precaution, but the land still juts above the sea. The disappearance of Lohachara, once home to 10,000 people, is unprecedented.

New House speaker may not seat certified winner in disputed race
Dec 23, 2006
SARASOTA, Fla. (AP) — Incoming House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is considering not sitting the certified Republican winner of a contested congressional election when Congress reconvenes next month, her spokesman said.
Drew Hammill, a spokesman for Pelosi, said the congresswoman has not yet decided what to do about the contested District 13 race where Republican Vern Buchanan was certified the winner by the state by a margin of 369 votes over Democrat Christine Jennings.
“The bottom line here is that nothing’s off the table,” Hammill said.
The House is currently investigating, and Jennings has pressed on with a lawsuit against the manufacturer of the touch-screen voting machines that she insists malfunctioned during the election.

Happy Holiday to all. I hope you are all where you wish to be and with the people whose company you most enjoy.
PJ, thank you for the snowflakes. All this warm December weather is unnerving.
Hey, here’s an email I got from John Edwards. Sounds like he’s testing the waters for the 2008 presidency. Show him some love!
Dear Friend,
For the past two years, we’ve worked together to build an America
that lives up to its promise — one where we all share in prosperity
at home and one that shows real moral leadership around the world.
I’m proud of our successes fighting poverty, supporting working
families, and standing up for what we believe.
Now, we have a big decision to make — and I do mean we.
I’m getting ready to take this effort to the next level – to bring
Americans together in all fifty states to tackle the big challenges
facing our country, from poverty and lack of health care, to energy
and global warming.
But this is our effort, and we can only succeed if we’re all in it
together. So before I make a final decision, I need to hear from you:
Are you ready?
If you’re ready to take this to the next level, and launch a renewed
national effort to change America, send me a note and let me know:
JohnEdwards@readytochangeamerica.com
If you have friends or family who share this vision, I want to hear
from them too. Please forward this on to anyone you know who might
want to join this big new effort.
I believe we can run a totally new kind of endeavor — one that puts
our ideals into action, and puts the hopes and dreams of the American
people above the personal ambition and play-it-safe strategy of
traditional politics.
I can’t promise you where this will ultimately lead. But I can
promise you this: if you’re on board, we’ll launch a renewed
commitment to change our country from the bottom up. We’ll always
speak from the heart. And together, we’ll reach out to millions of
people to let them know it’s still okay to dream big dreams, and do
everything we can to make them real –because that’s what America is
all about.
So the only question is: Are you ready?
If you want to take this effort to next level, send me an e-mail and
let me know:
JohnEdwards@readytochangeamerica.com
Stay tuned: I’ll let you know what we decide early next week.
Happy holidays, and may it be a bright new year for all.
Your friend,
John

So, I remember reading or hearing that, if you go to say, a CIA or Homeland Security website, that they have some kind of cookie that you can’t get rid of that is capable of tracking where you go online. Was it Fred that posted an article such as that? Can anyone else remember something like that?
Druid – it’s ok to lose the mind! They’re highly overrated.

anyone have any experience with these babies?
Yeah, sure, I have one, but I don’t know if I can help. I’ll try, though
You probably know way more about this stuff than I do…

this is getting boring, so I’m moving on..
Are you at home Melina?
Merry Merry everyone! :santacool: :menorah:
Hey Andy, same to you.:santacool::peace:
Here’s an article from ’02 about the CIA using persistent tracking cookies, in violation of its own policies. I don’t think there’s any kind of a non-deletable cookie out there anywhere. They’re just text files. Of course, they could pretty easily deliver a root kit, keystroke logger, trojan, or whatever via some cutesy flash greeting card or something. For all you know, the proprietary software vendors are required to provide a back door into their products, just in case they government wants to spy on you. Certainly, AT&T is giving the government whatever access they want.
Yep, MFC to all. :jesus:

I got it yesterday when I was talking to the French woman at the mall. :hubba:
I’m sorry, but I had to do it. If it makes everyone feel any better, my original comeback was a lot worse. Shame on me. Especially on Christmas Eve.
Our property manager apparently forgot to lock the door to the business center yesterday, so I have PC access at least for now, tee hee.
:banana::banana::banana:
I was up until 2:30 last night reading the Frank Rich book I got for pledging to my local PBS affiliate (signed by the author, no less), so I missed most of the Sunday-morning chowderheads. But I was unfortunate enough to see 41 and Barbara while flipping channels. Why does ABC think we want to hear anything this woman has to say? Especially concerning helping others. If she really wanted to help humanity, she would not have borne her evil spawn.
Please, crawl back onto the Quaker Oats box and STFU. We beg you. :fu:
Tonight I continue my personal tradition of wrapping gifts and watching Bad Santa. Actually, it’s more like I watch the movie and end up wrapping the gifts afterward, since between laughing at the funny stuff and drooling over Lauren Graham I’m too attention-challenged to wrap at the same time.
Now it’s off to the store in search of OJ. The drink, I mean. Feel free to make up your own bloody-glove jokes, though. 😀
yeah Krista…Im home as of last night…then I was up till 2 am cleaning up after my Mom’s week with the animals here….she is a very bad housekeeper even with the roomba etc….
and now IM trying to wrap everything for Ben’s house….havent even looked at Will’s stuff
thanks so much trav….apparently they are closed
I guess Ill just try to use the yahoo music manager thingy and see how that works…
Thing is that I dont know if she can plug the thing into her usb port to charge it even if the software and songs are on a different computer….
I can load the software there even but I dont know if you lose everything if you use 2 computers….
maybe I need to go to radio shack and get a plug for her and make her only add content through my computer till she has a stable situation.
maybe Im an idiot but it seems like I should be able to buy music and import it to Rhapsody or whatever…and if I then install Rhapsody into their computer (even though its an old compaq and has no current internet) I should be able to dunp the shongs from the creative zen to her computer…..Im just worried that Ill get stuck like with the ipod….
I just had a really bad experience saving my music into this computer when the desktop died. I did it but I lost my videos (not many but…..) and I lost alot of my formatting.
I think that john edwards is gonna be on the Today show on Thursday….Hes running and so far hes my guy!….
well, it seems like I can buy the music and videos and then transfer them in through their transfer manager….which is probably a good thing….because they actually have a transfer out button….how great is that? I just wish that they had a better booklet and documentation stuff
Hey! Marc is on State of the Nation talking about what non christians do on xmas. NOW!:omg:

Im trying to sign up with the russians to get some music on this player…..they have a hard time processing my credit card….crazy!
I was gonna try it by signing up with Buy and Click or whatever it is.
Hello again, got invited next door for dinner. They’re an older Italian couple and man can Gladys cook!!
