Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al-Maliki said Friday that nothing will stop or delay the execution, according to Iraqi national television.

New storm snarls Western travel
DENVER, Colorado (AP) — New Year’s travelers jammed the Denver airport Thursday, trying to get out of town ahead of a snowstorm that threatened to close runways and gum up the nation’s busy holiday travel season for the second time in a week.
By Thursday night, 10 inches of snow had been recorded in the Denver area, and snow falling at a rate of 4 inches an hour piled up 28 inches in the foothills west of the city.
The heavy snow forced officials to close several major highways in northern Colorado, including Interstate 25, the main north-south route, about 60 miles north of the city near Wyoming. Accidents on Interstate 70 blocked travel on the state’s main east-west route west of Denver.

CRAWFORD, Texas (CNN) — Anti-war protester Cindy Sheehan was arrested Thursday afternoon outside President Bush’s ranch, according to a law enforcement official.
Sheehan, who in the past has camped out for weeks in protest outside the ranch in Crawford, Texas, was arrested for blocking the road leading to the property, Texas Department of Public Safety’s Tela Mange told CNN.
Four others were also arrested after law enforcement officials asked the group to move and they refused, Mange said.
“[Sheehan] told us if you want us to get out of the road, you’re going to have to arrest us,” Mange said. “So we did.”

SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) — Swarms of online shoppers armed with new iPods and iTunes gift cards apparently overwhelmed Apple’s iTunes music store over the holiday, prompting error messages and slowdowns of 20 minutes or more for downloads of a single song.
Frazzled users began posting urgent help messages Monday and Tuesday on Apple’s technical forum for iTunes, complaining they were either not allowed into the store or were told the system couldn’t process their request to download songs and videos.
It was not immediately clear how many people were affected by the slowdowns, and Apple Computer Inc. would not immediately comment Wednesday on what caused the slowdown and whether it had been fixed.

Ah, yes indeed. As I recall, at Buckland’s (which was the main meat market bar, where you’d always show up at 2:00, if you were still in the market for a little action), the first hour they had penny beers. Then dime, nickel, quarter, and up it went until you got to full price. Assuming you actually got that far. Next to Buckland’s was Broadwell’s, and across the street, kinda, was the Woodshed.
I don’t recall it by name, but, well, to tell you the truth, the whole Oswego experience is a bit hazy for some reason. I lived on campus the first year, then lived in a house on West 5th and Seneca, which was right across from a little park (and about two block from the IGA, which was handy).
Summer was great, because you could find a kill-a-keg or 10 cent beers or whatever every day of the week. Ah, those were the days.
But animals can keep you warm … and you would make them laugh :rofl2:

Fred…I know that its a pain in the ass…but it seems sorta fantastic for us over here in the new south…
Up until windows XP one could just use a work station as a server .. XP in one of their servicepacks limited the number of simultaneous connections.. We use Dell 2550’s with server 2003 on them just as rack mounted computers . The amount of memory in the server sort of depends on the number of connections you want open at the same time . Servers also almost always have SCSI disk drives in them and probably built in raid controllers . The 2550s only have three PCI expansion slots and all the other stuff ( video and network Interfaces ) is on the motherboard.

just finished one of the most beautiful books I’ve read in many years. It has been out awhile so perhaps you’ve already read it…The Kite Runner by Khaled Hossein. mr. fk told me about the kites flying in Kabul when he was there after the fall of the Taliban (before we, you know, let them come back again, ‘cuz we, um, kinda got our troops stuck in a different country so we could take out a guy Americans (albeit sick ones like rumsfeld and cheney) once befriended but now wish to kill him, like THAT is going to help matters.)
Anyway, it’s a book that will stay with me.

Okay, so, this li’l laptop only has like 30 MB of RAM. Maybe that’s why the sound is all warbly. So, it looks like I’m gonna have to think about getting another computer sooner than later because i can’t even play my Sims game :rant1: Plus, I don’t think laptops are meant to be on for hours and hours at a time. Now I’m debating on whether i should try to build a computer like PJ suggests, or just get the $300 Dell with my next paycheck or 2 or try to build my credit back up and try to get a $900 Mac like Cnick suggests. I should also think about getting something that I can do podcastes and maybe even be able to set up a server someday like Melina and stream stuff. Any other suggestions are most welcome.
Oooh! I wonder if tomorrow would be a good day to go to Goodwill and pick up someones discarded computer. It’s 50% off day and it’s after xmas so there could be a lot of stuff.

The mac books are wonderful. My nephew did a gig at the SoHo Apple store last month and got one. Just make sure you get the latest model and stay away from the refurbished ones. The first mac books had issues.

Well, I’m not gonna try to promote Apple products cause everyone here seems to love their virus infested bug riddled Windows boxes. If you like forever using the “F” word then by all means purchase a Windows box.

We need your expertise. It just is an Apple is a bit more and coming from a spot when one just doesn’t have it one doesn’t. Now I’ve got a horrible secret to tell — from the extreme early 80’s PC has been the standard in the “academia world” for 25 plus years therefore it will take quite awhile to easily obtain an Apple. It was only just recently that College of the Redwoods got a few Macs to Many PCs.

Well you know the nice thing about all new Apple computers is that they will boot Windows too! How about that!!! Is that not amazing? Windows boxes cannot do that little trick. Wonder why? So if I were a lover of Windows, but I was a little curious about the Apple operating system – I think (if I used my brain) that I’d figure it might be a little smarter to purchase a Apple computer so I would have a rock solid piece of hardware and a rock solid operating system just in case something were to go haywire with Windows XP!!!
If Kristapea wants to podcast with a solo Windows PC she’ll have to shop around for additional software to do that on a Windows box. Not so on a new Mac. Every new Mac comes with iLife, an amazing piece of software that will allow anyone to create a podcast from scratch and a website too! But maybe you are an expert at Hypertext markup language and can use a text editor to create a website with Windows. Or you might wanna opt for Microsoft’s Frontpage. It’s an excellent WYSIWIG web editor. But it’ll cost you extra to buy it cause Microsoft’s OS does not come with a program like iLife. Wonder why? Cause maybe Microsoft gets RICH, stinking filthy rich off software?

It makes sense but when one is embedded with windows you just “rides” the waves.

I’m sure you can always find a buggy piece of free software out there for the Windows box. Maybe you won’t go fucking cRaZy trying to figure out how to use it! And maybe if your lucky it won’t bring your Windows box to its knees!

Yeah new PC’s come with programs that most people neither need nor want. Many of which serve only to take up valuable hard disk space. Best thing to do when you bring a new PC home is to reformat the hard drive and reinstall the OS. Only install what programs are absolutely necessary. I doubt that Dell or anyother PC manufacturer is selling a PC equipped with anything remotely akin to Apple’s iLife program which comes with every new Apple computer.
Your sarcastic humour is Perfect and will slowly change minds. But CNick :no: when I started to get addicted to was my :love: notebook for windows. Deary dear, 25 years — will break much to change habit but as I said when I was in school Standard = PC

My podcasts and my website http://nickthomas.org are created solely using Apple’s iLife program. There are an amazing number of template’s in iWeb for creating websites to your specific tastes and needs. And with Garageband you cannot only record podcasts, but you can make music too. And also use it and iMovie to make movies or video podcasts. Only your imigination will limit you.
Oh my, it is late for someone who has been up since 3:30 a.m. this morning. Bedtime for Bonzo. Be good people. I love each and everyone of you.
