After spending more time than I probably should have, I managed to move everything over to the new host, ditching the old one. I also have my stuff spread out over four domains (five, if you count sedition radio), which will hopefully make everything easier to deal with. I shouldn’t say it, but after a couple of rough days, things seems to be working OK here now. Let’s hope it stays that way. Next up, I guess (and I’m not in any hurry – or in any position, time-wise to start on it), is to start working on creating a community site. We’ll see if I ever actually get around to it. What I really need is a nice long nap.

Morning, everyone. For those of you in NYC and environs, it looks like WWRL is spiinning yesterday’s absence of Sam by chalking it up to “technical problems.” I call bulls**t. If it was “technical problems”, why then was Stephanie Miller touting her new presence in the NY market?
It looks like BlueHost must change the hamsters that run their servers at 7am ( eastern).. The new batch must still be having coffee  :fustrate:

Yeah Kerry, you’re a has been now. Give me my shoe back and go sit down.
Good morning everyone….Im running still….
yesterday I actually fell asleep for an hour in the afternoon, so busy has this week been!
And Im totally engulfed in te world of hip hop, transferring songs to shalay’s player and realizing that I have to talk to her about some of these songs and what they say…ugh!
It kinda makes me HAPPY that they have the CLEAN versions available.
I hate to be that way but you should hear what the kids are pumping into their brains…
Slob my knob
Grind on me
getting some head
huh?
I was trying to explain to her how these guys (and some girls) are probably more afriad of women in reality and that everyone just really wants a real connection…and how you cant get it by slobbing anyone’s knob…and she said that she doesnt really even pay attention to the lyrics but likes the groove and bat…OK…
And that she doesnt take any of it seriously….
I guess I gave her alot of books about being a proud black woman over x-mas, but I wish I had more time to actually talk to her. I think her Mom is in Haiti. Ben’s Mom is her grandma and the Haitians dont seem to talk to children a whole lot.
Maybe will have to take her out to dinner and see if she is OK with women things…
shit…
Im so happy about Kerry….so happy!
Why cant I find these media files?
Meredith just did a really great special report about how in LA suddenly all of these families are living on skid row …lots of kids…
Its like Reagan all over again.
The economy is great for CEOs and upper mgt and the rest sucks…
All the stores are dumping merchandise like crazy really cheap…
we may also be reaching a tipping point in the economy…the real economy that effects real people, as sam was talkin about yesterday….
So, sam is gonna be back?
I think they got a huge response….huge…
and once Atrios gets involved…well…
Kevin…good to see you!!
PJ, we need a weekly chat or something…that Brill one was really fun.
Maybe we can chat during 24…or prison break…or marc on sam…?
This is kind of interesting:
You can read the whole thing if you’re interested, but the gist of it is that myspace users are – on the average – not too bright, and “fall for a LOT of phishing scams. They are basically the new AOL.”
So, there is a list of 50,000 or so myspace passwords floating around (this isn’t the first time), and somebody posted it to one of this guy’s lists.
So, while I’m not hosted over there anymore, perhaps I need to change registrars, too. “Morally objectionable” seems a bit vague to me.
Yeah, I could set up a chat if anybody’s interested. Not sure I wanna deal with the horny 13 year olds trying to have cybersex, though. I doubt many would wander over this way, anyway.
Oh, Frank McCourt is going to be the commencement speaker at SU this year. Maybe I’ll actually attend.
wasnt that nicki and suzie?..I cant imagine that anyone is really trolling a tiny chat for sex like that…
I’m not familiar with that gabbychat or whatever it was, but it might be that all chats are listed centrally, and they came from there.
I’m not sure if this old news or not:
Two election workers were convicted Wednesday of rigging a recount of the 2004 presidential election to avoid a more thorough review in Ohio’s most populous county.
Yeah, saw that. It was pretty clear from the Hacking Democracy film on HBO a while back. I think they just didn’t want to have to fuck with doing a full recount – too much trouble. And yet, dubya remains in office. I think for their sentence, they ought to include them in the “surge” and ship their asses off to Iraq.
PJ, re 31 … I am shocked but not surprise. :not so silent scream:
That is beyond scary :omg: .
— Melina, it was the time I was “working-out” while the twitbush talked, so didn’t attend. I think “neat” re a chat but didn’t know all would be open to all. Hmmm … EEK …
— MySpace = Big Brother monitoring EVERYTHING :fu:

hello from the car….
did wwrl actually claim technical problems re yesterday?
Hey, let’s hear it for Norway!
pj, Norway will probably be included in the Axis of Evil next SOTU.
Melina, I did not get this e-mail
good news for nyc listeners, i received an email this morning:
****************
Thank you for your comment
The Sam Seder show was not taken off the air.
Sam was not censored and is a valuable part of our format.
The problem that affected the airing of his show yesterday (January 24, 2007) has been corrected
Listen to Sam at 9: am today
WWRL1600 apologizes for the inconvenience and appreciates your support
Right.
I would be more inclined to believe this if Stephanie Miller hadn’t talked about how she was now on in NY. On the other hand, NewsDaddy didn’t do the 9 AM news yesterday which would indicate the kind of “technical problem” they’re now claiming. But on the THIRD hand (is there a third hand?), the timing of this problem is odd.
I still think they yanked him and the outcry was huge. The bonus for Sam is that now both WWRL and AAR know that Sam has a sizable and very loyal audience. :yippee: (I love that emo; it’s my favorite.)
The radio guys don’t know what to do with us, do they? Limbaugh and the like have “regular listeners”, but WE have this “family” of Morning Seditionists who have embraced Sam Seder as part of the family. And all this loyalty is for a radio show that’s been off the air for a year and was only on for two. It’s something remarkable and unprecedented — and they just don’t get how powerful and influential we could be.
Not to mention that we come from all over the country – and the world – despite the fact that the shows are on a radio “network” that many – maybe most – of us have to jump through hoops to listen to, and all with virtually no marketing and promotion. Imagine if they ever get people who know radio to run the thing.
:pup: :fire: Good morning/ afternoon/ evening(to King Kong?) The sun has returned to PDX i.e. the mornings are brght if foggy. :yippee:
Ah, a sunny and rather balmy 12 degrees here, with a nice NNW 12 MPH breeze, making it feel about 0. I don’t think we’ll be getting to our projected high of 17 today. On the bright side, the winds are supposed to pick up a bit, and if they blow the right way, we may get some lake effect snow – even some whiteouts, which are always fun if you happen to be driving.
Speaking of “technical problems” :billcat: Instead of NOT listening to tSOTU on Tuesday, I went to the repeat of the MetOpera’s high def Magic Flute in a movie theater. I think they did it from a DVD whiich wasn’t working and Mozart was murdered in high def.:barf: :alc: :blech:
I went to the broadcast of the First Emperor on Jan 13. It was great. All the movie theater only had to get the lights up and down. They didn’t do that well either. lesson FWIW only go the broadcasts.
I heard the first hour or so of Stephanie’s show this morning. More spanking talk! I did not hear any mention of NYC or shout out so I had a feeling Sam was back on there. She sure sounded yesterday like she was on for the long run. No talk of being on for the day because of technical problems and Seder would return tomorrow.
At least she was not gloating. If FatHeaddie had been put in he would have spent half of the show strutting and sticking his thumb in AAR’s eyes.

The Orion Deep Field
Credit & Copyright: Robert Gendler
Explanation: Adrift 1,500 light-years away in one of the night sky’s most recognizable constellations, the glowing Orion Nebula and the dark Horsehead Nebula are contrasting cosmic vistas. But even fainter filaments of glowing gas are easily traced throughout the region in this stunning composite image that includes exposures filtered to record emission from hydrogen atoms. The view reveals extensive nebulosities associated with the giant Orion Molecular Cloud complex, itself hundreds of light-years across. A magnificent emission region, the Orion Nebula (aka M42) lies at the upper right of the picture. Immediately to its left are a cluster of prominent bluish reflection nebulae sometimes called the Running Man. The Horsehead nebula appears as a dark cloud, a small silhouette notched against the long red glow left of center. Alnitak is the easternmost star in Orion’s belt and the brightest star to the left of the Horsehead. Below Alnitak is the Flame Nebula, with clouds of bright emission and dramatic dark dust lanes. Completing the trio of Orion’s belt stars, bluish Alnilam and Mintaka form a line with Alnitak, extending to the upper left.

Orion’s Cradle
Credit & Copyright Tony Hallas
Explanation: Cradled in glowing hydrogen, stellar nurseries in Orion lie at the edge of a giant molecular cloud some 1,500 light-years away. This breath-taking view spans about 13 degrees across the center of the well-known constellation with the Great Orion Nebula, the closest large star forming region, just right of center. The deep mosaic also includes (left of center), the Horsehead Nebula, the Flame Nebula, and Orion’s belt stars. Image data acquired with a hydrogen alpha filter adds other remarkable features to this wide angle cosmic vista — pervasive tendrils of energized atomic hydrogen gas and portions of the surrounding Barnard’s Loop. While the Orion Nebula and belt stars are easy to see with the unaided eye, emission from the extensive interstellar gas is faint and much harder to record, even in telescopic views of the nebula-rich complex.

Did Al mention this Army Williams flap?
I don’t buy technical difficulties at all….and Mom was really upset by the whole spanking thing.
I don’t get Stephanie at all….cant answer for her to Mom at all…
I emailed WWRL yesterday, but I didn’t get a response, either. I didn’t get to hear Sam until the last half hour. Did Sam say anything about yesterday?
Hubby listened to Armie, a bit and said he was very subdued today.
I can’t stand either Greenfield or Williams and I don’t think I could tell the difference between their version of subdued and their usual stupidity.
Hey, guys, I think Jim Webb should inherit the :fire: now. What do you think?
I guess CBS is censoring stories like this one (at least, not showing it on the teevee). From MediaChannel, via Atrios:
I don’t know about the :fire: but I’m still missing a goddamn shoe.
Now that you mention it, what the hell is Armie doing on progressive radio? And Greenfield’s girly voice is annoying, I’m sorry if it’s not politically correct to point this out.
AAR can’t get off WWRL fast enough. And the signal truly sucks: the only show i listen to is Rachel Maddow, and the signal in Yonkers gets wrecked by static when it gets dark. Who is their tech advisor, Thomas Edison?
C’mon Frenchy boy, let’s get that check book smoking! :sammy:
WWRL has a daytime transmit power of 25,000 watts, but it has to drop down to 5,000 watts at night. Even 25kW isn’t exactly overwhelming (not down there, especially).
Hey wvmc3d!
Thanks for the link to the Condi pic.
Glad I don’t own HD tv

Hmm. Down to 7 degrees already, and it isn’t even dark yet. Could get a little chilly tonight.
Hey I thought it was all about walking the dog .. Have you taken him out for his walk yet today .. huh .. huh … huh…
Of course. We went for extra long walkies today, in fact. I’m a CNY’er – it has to get a hell of a lot colder than this to keep me inside.
He opted not to go for a swim in the creek, however.
At 7 degrees its hard to swim through the ice ..
I don’t even take my snow thrower out for a trot a 7 degrees. :cold: :cold: :cold:
OK, so if you’re gonna fool around with somebody’s boyfriend, don’t be going skydiving with her.
Last 2 days of Sam Seder podcasts are up on KPTK
I did not hear any comment from Al nor expected to. I did not hear the first half of today’s Seder show to get his comment.
Sam was a bit dubious as to the “technical difficulties,” but thanked everybody who called, wrote, and bitched at wwrl. No sure Al really grasps the fact that there are other shows besides his (especially since he’s half a continent away from NYC now).
From: lara logan
Subject: help
I would be very grateful if any of you have a chance to watch this story and pass the link on to as many people you know as possible. It should be seen. And people should know about this.
And I thought Lara had most-favored-reporter status at CBS. I guess that only applies when she’s covering stories they feel comfortable airing. Kinda like Bush only listens to the generals that agree with him.
I can’t access the video on this wretched PC, so I’ll wait until tomorrow and check it out after work. If it’s anything like Lara says it is, I will be writing to CBS shortly thereafter.
This reference is going to date me, but tough shit. When I was growing up, CBS had a much different attitude concerning war coverage. Just about every evening, we saw Dan Rather or another reporter (yes, kids, this was before Rather was an anchor) reporting from the front, complete with the sights and sounds of guerilla warfare. This was pretty heady stuff for my young mind to process, even if Walter Cronkite was there as a somewhat calming presence.
I’m convinced that this intense coverage was one of the greatest reasons America soured on the war in the late ’60s. If CBS and the other networks were covering Iraq the same way, we would be our of there by now.
MSM needs to stop cowering in the shadow of the Bush regime. Get off your asses and be journalists, dammit. The Chimp is going down, so get the hell off his sinking ship.

Almost forgot… the TV section of the local paper lists a show called “Comics Unleashed” that apparently is a syndicated half-hour show featuring standup comedy and hosted by Byron Allen.
But I’m taping it tonight anyway, because one of the featured performers is supposed to be one MARC MARON.

Check your local listings, as they say. I won’t be watching it tonight because the show airs here at midnight and it’s a school night. I’ll probably try to play it back tomorrow morning before I leave for work. From what I hear, this Maron guy is funny in the morning. I think he had a show once or something. ๐
Oh, yeah, that was on here a while back. Marc was good, as usual. Nothing we haven’t heard before, but still good.
Watching CSPAN-2. The Senate just passed the Sessions amendment to the minimum wage bill, that would punish federal contractors for using illegal workers. Now they’re blah-blahing about something else. I wonder if they’ll ever pass this thing? Oh well, could be worse. Yesterday 28 Republican Senators voted to repeal the federal minimum wage entirely. Including Maverick McCain. That would mean that the minimum wage in Kansas, for instance, would be $2.35 an hour. India would be outsourcing its outsourcing to Kansas. I can imagine the computer owners in Bangalore bitching that they had to talk to some idiot tech support dude in Topeka.
Those are awesome pics, Druid. That’s the kind of stuff that makes me think it’s pointless to be an artist.
During the Vietnam war there were like 50 million people watching the news every night too. Today it looks like you are lucky to get ten percent of that …. It probably is this sociopathic problem .. The why do I want to watch this I got mine ( or am in a world of hurt) and don’t give a shit .. pass the Oxycontin will ya . Americans are to used to watching things happen either for real or in fantasy to others that there is no reality of what is going on and worse yet that what you are seeing on TeeVee can happen to you . . The demodorps and the thugs both telling everyone how great and rich a country we are over and over again gives them a false sense of security .. The Titanic was unsinkable you know :fustrate: :fustrate: :yuck:
Oh, Christ, now Fred’s Senator Allard (aka, Senator Repeal the Minimum Wage) is trying to add an amendment about identity theft to the minimum wage bill. Fer chrissakes.

Hey re#66, that station does not seem to be able to get their website right so there are segments up twice and segments missing. It may not be worth the effort.
Does anyone know of any other locations that podcast Seder? I was going to ask if anyone knew where to find Malloy shows but it appears they are on a Nova M PREMIUM site. How stoopid!
Who is pjs?
It works, PJ, but leaves the comment box cluttered, not that it’s hard to work around. I note this for diagnostic purposes.
Also, would it not be more elegant to have the emos with a space before and a space after? That way if, the keyboarder forgets to space before the first emo, the first emo, not the code would appear. See my comment 48 above, re:barf:
I am pjs. It’s my “regular” account, that I use for testing as a non-admin user.
