Israel seeks all clear for Iran air strike
Israel is negotiating with the United States for permission to fly over Iraq as part of a plan to attack Iran’s nuclear facilities, The Daily Telegraph can reveal.
To conduct surgical air strikes against Iran’s nuclear programme, Israeli war planes would need to fly across Iraq. But to do so the Israeli military authorities in Tel Aviv need permission from the Pentagon.
A senior Israeli defence official said negotiations were now underway between the two countries for the US-led coalition in Iraq to provide an “air corridor” in the event of the Israeli government deciding on unilateral military action to prevent Teheran developing nuclear weapons.
“We are planning for every eventuality, and sorting out issues such as these are crucially important,” said the official, who asked not to be named.
“The only way to do this is to fly through US-controlled air space. If we don’t sort these issues out now we could have a situation where American and Israeli war planes start shooting at each other.”

Hi FK. Nice to see ya. I hope all is well.
From Daily Kos:
One thing you won’t find on Kucinich’s website, though, is any mention of his opposition to abortion rights. In his two terms in Congress, he has quietly amassed an anti-choice voting record of Henry Hyde-like proportions. He supported Bush’s reinstatement of the gag rule for recipients of US family planning funds abroad. He supported the Child Custody Protection Act, which prohibits anyone but a parent from taking a teenage girl across state lines for an abortion. He voted for the Unborn Victims of Violence Act, which makes it a crime, distinct from assault on a pregnant woman, to cause the injury or death of a fetus. He voted against funding research on RU-486. He voted for a ban on dilation and extraction (so-called partial-birth) abortions without a maternal health exception. He even voted against contraception coverage in health insurance plans for federal workers–a huge work force of some 2.6 million people (and yes, for many of them, Viagra is covered). Where reasonable constitutional objections could be raised–the lack of a health exception in partial-birth bans clearly violates Roe v. Wade, as the Supreme Court ruled in Stenberg v. Carhart–Kucinich did not raise them; where competing principles could be invoked–freedom of speech for foreign health organizations–he did not bring them up. He was a co-sponsor of the House bill outlawing all forms of human cloning, even for research purposes, and he opposes embryonic stem cell research. His anti-choice dedication has earned him a 95 percent position rating from the National Right to Life Committee, versus 10 percent from Planned Parenthood and 0 percent from NARAL.
he Democratic party is one of two major political parties in the US.
When the Democrats and Republicans split the control of the presidency and Congress, the US enters a state of Divided government, often resulting in Gridlock.
According to leading conservative thinkers, no good Christian would ever be a Democrat. Catholics identify as Democrats more than Republican, but the opposite is true for Evangelicas.
The major tenets of the modern Democrat platform include cowering to terrorism, treasonous anti-Americanism, and establishment of an amoral, atheistic, Communist state. However, contempt for all the founding principles of America is not yet an official prerequisite for entry into the Democrat party.

It has been proven experimentally many times in the history of the SBR that the mechanism of government is one in which almost nothing can get done and if they do do something and break something the system makes it almost impossible to undo the error…
The idea of checks and balances is a fairytale put forth to make the people just think they have a word in what goes on. :reaper: :reaper:
I know this high school teacher who before they quit teaching civics in the 9th grade would bring a TV into class so his students could watch C-span and see how our form of government worked .. During the early 1990’s it became such a circus that his students started seriously questioning what they saw and how that resulted in “government” .. The school district admin finally asked him to discontinue said TV shows.. Two years later they opted to not tech civics at all.. The school district admin was of course run by rethugs .. :gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist: ..
We of course will solve these problems though the election process
We after all have already gotten an agreement to leaver Iraq .. right .. right ..
Congress realizes that the WTO, NAFTA and CAFTA are bad ideas.and is going to exit these treaties .. right… right .
Congress has restored the tights of the people lost during the previous congress .. right ..right
..
Congress realizes that Israel is a major problem in achieving peace in the middle east and is doing something about it… right.. right
Congress realizes that we need election reform and puplic financing of the election process.. right …,right ..
Its all FUBAR and more FUBAR and even more FUBAR :growl: :growl: :rant1: :rant1: :rant1: :fustrate: :fustrate: :paranoid: :paranoid:

:growl: so i was playing this video game where you are a superhero policeman killing all the gang bosses in the city. i finally beat the game and came to find that i was helping to create a police state. the government was supplying the gangs so they could terrorize the citizenry. that way when the gangs were eliminated the citizens would be happy to give up their civil liberties and live in a police state.

Over 20,000 Gather For Barack Obama
If Friday’s turnout is any indication, Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama is gaining huge momentum.
Austin was one of the stops on his presidential announcement tour.
More than 20,000 supporters filled Auditorium Shores to hear him speak. The crowd shows Obama’s appeal crosses boundaries of age, race and gender.
Long lines and rainy weather didn’t keep supporters of the Democratic party’s fastest rising star away.
“He’s not just a young persons person, but middle age and older people too,†Dorothy Johson said.
Obama is re-energizing voters.
“I really haven’t been involved in politics in quite some time,†L.B. Henderson said. “I felt this is an opportunity to do some grassroots to see what’s going on.â€
…
Obama stressed universal health care, education and pulling out of Iraq. Tom Rafferty says there’s a lot more to Obama.
“He’s talking about domestic policy, he’s talking about human rights, he’s talking about energy and how we can rebuild this country,†Rafferty said.

Battle of the light bulbs (California considers banning incandescent bulbs)
A new light is about to burn more brightly: the stubby, squiggly fluorescent bulb. Environmentalists love it, Wal-Mart is promoting it and Australia is eyeing it as an easy way to save energy and curb global warming.
Now, California lawmakers are giving it some wattage by considering a ban on the sale of old-fashioned incandescent bulbs beginning in 2012. The proposed switch represents a revolution in a lampshade, because incandescents account for 95% of light bulb sales. Replacing each descendant of Thomas A. Edison’s invention with a low-energy, long-lasting, compact fluorescent bulb would slash electricity consumption by 75%, proponents say.
Retired aerospace engineer Frank Vincent is sold. “I use them. It saves me energy and it saves me money on that energy,” said Vincent, 63, who was shopping Friday at a Wal-Mart store on Crenshaw Boulevard.
…….
Many energy experts applaud the California bulb ban bill as a natural move by government to raise energy-efficiency standards, akin to requiring new homes to have high-rated thermal insulation and double-pane windows.
“There are sound economic reasons for this,” said Peter Navarro, an energy economist at UC Irvine. “If you just rely on the marketplace, you’re not going to solve the problem.”

Maybe one can now move toward being able to plug your car in at night without having to build any more power plants. If you just cornered the incandescent bulb market you migh be SOL though.. :reaper: 😮
Bush Plan to Allow Mexican Truckers Throughout U.S. Draws Criticism
A Bush administration plan to allow 100 Mexican trucking companies to haul freight deeper into the United States than previously allowed drew an angry reaction Friday from labor leaders, safety advocates and members of Congress.
The administration plan, announced Thursday, would have United States inspectors oversee Mexican trucking companies that carry cargo across the border. The pilot project will let Mexican truck companies travel throughout the United States. No hazardous material shipments will be permitted.
Currently, trucks from each country are allowed only 20 miles into the other to deliver their cargo.
Offering details on Friday, Transportation Secretary Mary E. Peters said, “This program will make trade with Mexico easier and keep our roads safe at the same time.â€
But opponents said Mexico had substandard trucks and low-paid drivers that would threaten national security, cost thousands of jobs and endanger motorists

Yesterday on Sam’s show, for those who missed it, Marc said he would be attending Obama’s appearance in Austin, and was hoping to interview some of the people there and report back during Sam’s show in the upcoming week. He wasn’t specific as to which day, but he seemed very enthusiastic about going.

Comment by Sue P — February 24, 2007 @ 10:40 am
Sue, thanks for the post. The crappy PC I am using today won’t allow me to post a link to the Kucinich website, but… his position on abortion seems to be that he doesn’t like them, but under certain circumstances he will permit them, and overall would rather promote contraceptive rights. Not surprisingly, the website does not go into any of the details that appeared in the Kos post.
I will need to investigate further, since this information conflicts with my personal view on abortion, which is that if men got pregnant, abortions would be free.
Kucinich certainly has a right to his own viewpoint, but that doesn’t mean I will necessarily be staying on his bandwagon. Maybe I should forward the Kos article to his website and ask for clarification. I’ll let everyone know if I get a response.
I should mention that part of the reason Kucinich opposes abortion is that he is Catholic and attends services regularly. Apparently, though, he is selective about which portions of the doctrine he chooses to obey, since he has two divorces behind him. Last time I checked, the Church was still in the graft, I mean annulment, business. Nothing pisses me off more than hypocrisy.
It’s not looking good for you, Dennis.
Marc said he would be on Sam’s show on Monday. Sam said something about him (Sam) not being there on Friday.
As for abortion, I’ve always thought that the real anti-abortion agenda was the subjugation of women and that they would all go for a law that said, “No woman can have an aboetion unless the man in charge of her agrees”.
It’s hard for me to reconcile this love of the fetus with the war mongering hate club of neocons.
No, that was in Austin. That’s not really Texas.
I must say, the polls I’ve seen indicate that the percentages of men and women on the issue of whether abortion should be legal are pretty close.
Here’s one I found with just a quick look:
Favoring Abortion: Men Versus Women
Situation Men Women
All or Most Cases 54% 58
To Save Woman’s Life 88 88
To Save Woman’s Health 82 83
In Cases of Rape/Incest 80 81
Physically Impaired Baby 53 55
To End Unwanted Pregnancy 43 40
D&X/Partial-Birth Abortions 28 19
Pregnancy is 6 Months+ 15 8
The people who seem to lead the anti-choice parade are often men who speak about reverence for life and concern for babies but never exhibit that concern for any life or babies except the fetus kind.
More important, PJ, you didn’t answer my question as to how you feel and how’s the sick kitty?
I’m just about totally recovered. The cat’s doing OK, though we’re trying to figure out how to keep it from happening again. Can’t afford it.
If it hasn’t been pointed out a lot of the leaders on the Reich believe that women are property .. The same people who believe that one starts out with no rights and only can get them if specifically granted by the constitution and you have 5 of the 9 supreme court justices in that group ..two of which were put there by the lack of a democratic opposition . :gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist:

She’s starting to figure out the gravity problem where the treat falls to the bottom out of reach when she wedges it between her paws. So she’s trying to get it while it lays on its side. Oh! She’s so close! :rofl2:
With the democratic congress exhibiting almost no leadership and with grid lock in the senate .and with the current world of hurt out here in reality land how does saying that all we need to do is wait another two years and elect more democrats to office work ?? Who are they talking too .. are they still talking to anyone .. ?? :reaper: :reaper:

The other day when I went to the dog park I saw this big dog knock over a little toddler girl dressed in pink. It has been raining so the park was muddy and she fell flat on her face in it. She layed there for a few seconds until someone noticed and came over and picked her up and of course she started crying. And I thought that was the most hilarious thing I saw that day, I couldn’t stop laughing! :rofl2: Her first traumatic moment! :rofl2:

I have noticed that little kids when playing with themselves often fall down, get cut up and mess up their clothes but they never start crying until an adult comes along . 😮

George Carlin had it right. They care desperately about the life of the fetus, then when you’re born, you’re on your own. They don’t give a rat’s ass about you again until you’re old enough for military service. :rant1:

I hope that more people are becoming politically aware and will move to solve these problems inbetween elections.. so far same o same o.. :yuck:
Babies start noticing how the adults react when they fall down and go boom. If they see an adult become worried and anxious then they will cry. If the same thing happened and the adult laughed, the child would probably laugh too. It follows into adulthood too. If the media doesn’t act like something is wrong then the people won’t think anything is wrong. :reaper:

Oh and hello everyone!
I’d have laughed when the kid hit the mud, too. Of course, even if I was the kid who hit the mud, I’d have laughed.
PJ, What was the matter with the cat?
I think what might have been funny about the pink little girl falling into the mud was that the fall reminded me of Maggie in The Simpsons.
Cat had an obstructed bladder. And a bladder infection, too, I think.
My vet says that cats, especially male cats but females also, should eat only low ash food and NO fish. Fish is one of the most common causes of urinary tract scarring and obstruction.
Having learned this lesson the hard way, I have not fed my cats fish for many years and I have not had that problem with them, since.
Krista try to put peanut butter in the kong and layer it with some different kinds of cookies and treats, then freeze it. It is the ultimate treat for dogs and keeps them busy for hours. you can always refreeze it…the training olace the Lola and I went to (Angie was too sick and kept throwing up when we tried training school) gave me a sheet of recipes wityh layers of things like creamed cheese (just a little) and I used freeze dried liver in some layers.
Also, regarding the kid crying thing. I think that most parents realize
pretty quickly when their kids are toddlers not to overreact to them falling and stuff. Most parents I know (myself included)
tend to overreact less than well meaning others who happen by and start to coo…
And also some kids are more dramatic than others. My kid will be laying on the floor and complaining and I just step over him.\
My sister’s youngest girl crys at the drop of a hat just because something is sad. She is so sweet and its hard not to overcoddle her…of course, if I had to live with her I would probably end up stepping over her too….
I think its less the parents than probably some parents and others who are not with the kids 24/7….
PJ, glad youre feeling better. I will get you some material real soon
I’ve had a harrowing week and day today was really horr ible … and Im still trying to get on top of things…
