Well, here we go again.
On Press the Meat, Timmy Potatohead hosts a debate between John Murtha and Huckleberry Graham on the urge to surge. Plus, there’s WSJ hack John Harwood, and the WaPost’s Eugene Robinson.
Over on CBS, Bush buddy Bobby Schieffer hosts Democrat Carl Levin, and Republican Joey Lie-berman, plus the co-author of the WaPost’s article on the conditions at Walter Reed, Anne Hull.
Over at Fux News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace hosts occasion Democrat, Dianne Feinstein, plus Republican Pete “Hokie” Hoekstra of Michigan, and then the weasel will try and do a “tax and spend” slam on Charlie Rangel.
At the Goebbels network, George Snufalufagus sits down with Secretary of the Treasury Henry Paulson, plus Chuck Schumer and Senator Brylcreem, Trent Lott. Then it’s a roundtable, with NPR school of hackery graduate, Martha Raddatz, E.J. “Poupon” Dionne of the WaPost, and George :jerk: Will. Plus Wynton Marsalis on “making a difference” through music. Yeah, maybe if you hit Dick Cheney upside the head with your trumpet, Wynton.
Over at CNN, Wolf Blitzer’s Late Emission includes U.S. Ambassador to Iraq, Zalmay Khalilzad, Chris Dodd, Krazy Jon Kyl, Terrible Tom Tancredo, LA Times hack Ron Brownstein, Chicago Tribune hack, Jill Zuckman, and Wall Street Journal hack (even by WSJ standards), John Fund.
Later, on 60 Minutes, Morley Safer does a story on “dog nut” and Simpson’s co-creator, Scary Sam Simon, Scott Pelley reports on how Islamic extremists are using the Internet for propaganda and recruiting (just like Kristian extremists), and Steve Kroft talks to U.S. Comptroller General David Walker, who tells us how the country is going into the toilet, financially speaking (where it will be reunited with the country’s credibility).
Enjoy your Sunday.
Thanks again for the public service, PJ. Now I can skip the tv funnies and spend this morning on something worthwhile like spreading lard on the cat’s boil. Maybe there’s a Clippers game on later.
Hey, the MSM just got ahold of the story about wealthy Saudis funding the Sunni insurgency that’s killing about 80% of our soldiers. [as opposed to Iran and the Shiites], a la 9-11. They’re only two weeks behind Prof Cole. Great work! :sammy:
:joe: :joe: :joe: :joe: 😮 😮 😯 😯
Whatever :sheep: le
Qwest sucks DSL at home has been down since Wednesday.. Have to go play in sandbox blog with ya all later :reaper: :reaper:
The good news is Star Gate is on at 3:30 am 😮
Any news about Maron getting a satelite radio gig? My wife is nagging me about getting a new car, and I’m not springing for the sat radio option just to listen to that worthless shit Howard Stern, that’s for sure.
Not that I don’t appreciate a good fart joke, provided that it’s delivered with crown and grandeur. :sammy:
crest- the new jeeps come with a free year of sirius…but soon they will be one.
Id marc getting a show?
I havent seen anything so far and now am runnign down to the museum with the boys and gonna wander the city doing good deeds for old folks…
:40: sirius :blech: lynn samuels sucks! although she is a big fan of marons……
Crest, did you actually hear that maron might get a sat. gig or was it wishful thinking?
Its more likely that the Greens will offer him a show…or he will end up on HBO….and then parlay that into a radio show somewhere.
But Sammy did say that he thought that the reens were gonna be good and that they were gonn have some great surprises coming up.
Im not sure how the business end of that works because there is back rent on the studio and equip to figure out along with the deals for talent….but Ive got my fingers crossed.
I dont view satellite as the future anyway…its just a step in the worl becoming wireless and all content being chosen…unless Clear Channel can buy the air….
Lynn Samuels is horrid. I don’t think the XM/Sirius merger is going to be allowed. If it happens, though, one of the things they’re going to use the extra capacity for is mobile video, which would be cool.
Interesting thing about the proposed merger. John Ashcroft offered his consulting services to XM and Sirius, but was turned down, so he whored himself out to the National Association of Broadcasters, which is fiercely opposed to the merger, and now Johnny’s condemning the merger.
Good Morning :joe:
Let’s see if I can slip this into the present from yesterday…
Yow, Druid!
Thanks for checking in and letting everyone know. The West and the graveyard shift thins out a little bit more. I knew I should have sold my emo and paraffin stocks when I could.
You’ll be missed. Maybe you can see your way to drop by now and then.
Take care! :joe:
Druid,
Where have you been? You have been much missed. Do NOT go away.
🙁 :gate: :knit:
Yeah, Druid. I didn’t see your post from yesterday (tell the truth, some days I read just about everything here, and some days, I don’t have time to read much of anything – especially with school and lumpy armpits, and moving people out of the house). I suspect it’s that way with everybody. Anyhow, you’re certainly always welcome here, for as long as here remains here. So is everybody else, for that matter – providing everybody can play nice.
But, best wishes to everyone, in whatever they do.
Cherokee Nation members voted Saturday to revoke the tribal citizenship of an estimated 2,800 descendants of people the Cherokees once owned as slaves.
In all 32 districts, 76.6 percent of the members who took part voted in favor of an amendment to the tribal constitution that would limit citizenship to descendants of “by blood” tribe members as listed on the Dawes Commission’s rolls from more than 100 years ago.

The government is on track to approve a new antibiotic to treat a pneumonia-like disease in cattle, despite warnings from health groups and a majority of the agency’s own expert advisers that the decision will be dangerous for people.
The drug, called cefquinome, belongs to a class of highly potent antibiotics that are among medicine’s last defenses against several serious human infections. No drug from that class has been approved in the United States for use in animals.
The American Medical Association and about a dozen other health groups warned the Food and Drug Administration that giving cefquinome to animals would probably speed the emergence of microbes resistant to that important class of antibiotics, as has happened with other drugs. Those super-microbes could then spread to people.

Is that the Lynn Samuels with the voice that removes lead paint better than anything that true value hardware sells, from the old lefty radio shows of the 60’s, pacifica radio WBAI, who subsequently moved to Radio Eichmann ABC AM, joshing around on the air with her buddy, the racist radio host Bob “The Midget” Grant [he was doing hate radio decades before Savage Weenie saw the financial potential]? That’s what you pay for on your satellite? Gawd.
If Lynn Samuels was a musical act, she’d be Melanie. :sammy:
Hope to see you back here sometime, Druid. There’s a hole in the blog with you gone. 🙁 :fire: :jesus:
Her voice is definitely a notch or two worse than fingernails on a chalkboard. When AAR ditched Sirius, I tried to listen to the lefty station they had, but the only stuff that was tolerable was Bill Press (and I had been used to MS at that time of day, so he didn’t cut it for me at the time). Samuels was the worst of the worst. Alex Bennet sucked, too (had a lot of bad things to say about Maron; you could hear the jealousy oozing from him). Stephie was OK, I guess, for as far as she goes. Not really my cup of tea (when you get used to intelligent humor, fart jokes kind of pale in comparison). And I didn’t like the Young Turds then any more than I do now.
🙁 tears of joy  :peace: 8) :yinyang: :pent: :om: Tea :joe: and/or :alc:

Hey, Druid. ’tis a pleasure to see you. I hope all is well.
During a survey 20 new species of sharks and rays were found. Here are some photos:
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/03/photogalleries/sharks-rays/photo4.html
What did Bennett say about Maron?
He did think he was the maven of the comedy scene in SF around the time Marc was out here.
I never much cared about Alex. He certainly parlayed his John Lennon connection for all it was worth in the early 70s.
Bennet said Marc wasn’t funny. And he told the story about how Sam Kinison pissed on him (Marc) one night. And other not nice stuff that I can’t recall specifically. All the Sirius Left people (except for Stephie and Bill Press, and the Turds, too, I think) had a lot of bad things to say about AAR and its hosts. They weren’t “real” radio people.
I had Sirius before AAR went to XM. I tried to listen to their left-talk channel. It was just awful. Lyn Samuels not only has a terrible voice but she has very little to say with it as well. It was not fun or enlightening or thought provoking.
Ah, those were the days!
We know Marc was pretty ‘fired up’ back then as were a lot of people.
Bennett is a has-been as far as I am concerned and has been for decades. I think Stern took his shtick and a lot of Imus and kicked his ass. Not that I am even remotely a Stern fan.
A&A! Where’s FK now that Barrogance is about to surge?
Plus Wynton Marsalis on “making a difference†through music. Yeah, maybe if you hit Dick Cheney upside the head with your trumpet, Wynton.
Better yet, just pull out the mouthpiece and hit him really hard on the side of the skull with that. It hurts a lot more. I would be happy to go to DC and demonstrate the technique if I could only find my trumpet.
:rofl2:
Not that I am advocating violent acts against the Vice President of the United States.
Oh shit, it’s too late. Here they come.
:tommygun: :tommygun: :tommygun:
But if you’re going to do it, use at least a 3C mouthpiece. Anything requiring a tighter embouchere will be smaller and contain less metal, so it won’t cause as much pain.
Science marches on.

Maybe a little off topic but this week’s LeShow with Harry Shearer features an hour-long interview with New Orleans Music God Allen Toussaint. Worth checking out if you love music or New Orleans.
😐 since when is there such a thing as off topic on here?
Enough with the bomb shoulda killed Cheney crap. Nothing on this earth will be effective, as you should know by now. Remember those so-called cardio experts who assured us in 2001 that his heart would never last through one term, let alone two? How would you like to have that md moron massaging inside your chest?
The man is simply not going to die; like in that Star Trek episode, he’s going to disappear for a while and then reappear as a young Himmler in the 22nd century. Watch the history channel for the particulars. :sammy:
Sorry to say that the LeShow I referred to does not seem to be this week’s edition but if you want to hear the great Allen Toussaint interview, from 2004, you can stream it here.
It probably is not the show that will be playing in your local market this week but always a great show.
well, I’m feeling better.
Hangover, Travis? :smack:
Yay! Hole is filled. :pup:
Yep, yup. But it’s more of the lack of sleep that’s got me all groggy.
Here’s the latest in the Mann Coulter story. A sad tale guaranteed to put a lump in your throat. Not as big as the one in Mann’s throat, though!

Wow, I don’t know what’s worse. That a school official can destroy a personal banner that’s not even on their property (and then suspend the kid for it), or that the school district’s lawyer’s name is David Crosby.

It’s interesting that the Repugs support any exercise of authority and fight any limits or oversight. They are a scary group.
As for the kid who’s suing the school district, I’m going to get a “Federick in ’08” sticker for my car.

I love that site, Druid. Lots of amazing photos.
Wynton Marsalis.
If you listen to XM, you get to hear him say the sentence:
“People who can play.” No context, other than he is some sort of authority.
As if this means anything.
I heard an older Toussaint interview with Shearer. Not as arrogant as that Marsalis.
Well, pj. as long as you brought up his name…
from Crosby’s first solo effort and something I keep with me always…
but I am not going without fred and sean and druid
“I wonder who they are
The men who really run this land
And I wonder why they run it
With such a thoughtless hand
What are their names
And on what streets do they live
I’d like to ride right over
This afternoon and give
Them a piece of my mind
About peace for mankind
Peace is not an awful lot to ask”
