No joy here in Syracuse today; we got screwed. Oh well, at least I won’t have to waste time watching basketball, and I certainly won’t be tempted to spend $70 on the DirecTV NCAA package. For those of you who couldn’t care less, feel free to keep it to yourselves.
So now Limbaugh is making jokes about who’s going to design Edward’s inaugural gown? Enough of this shit. This guy is a closet case of long standing – when is someone going to out this bastard and shut him up once and for all?
Good morning by the way. :sammy:
If it makes you feel any better, Akron got screwed too. 26 wins, we lose the conference championship on a last-minute contested shot that was disputed for ten minutes and given a half-assed do-over, and we’re still snubbed? Blow me.
I’m trying to find the brackets for the NIT. The St Pete Times didn’t see fit to put them in this morning’s paper, even though the NCAA snubbed Florida State as well. Assholes. :fu:
Akron didn’t make the NIT???
WTF?????
:fu: :fu: :fu:
Really? The Zips didn’t make the NIT?
Morning All. You guys read Kristin’s post from last night? WOW!!
Ouch. 80-car train derailment here. A train carrying propane. Boom. They’re calling it a “major train explosion.”
Maybe I can get a limo ride when Marc comes to Philly.
Oh, no I didn’t see that. Cool.
Awesome! PG! :yippee: Did you get any info about a radio show??? Or has he learned how to keep his piehole shut. 😉
So, Bush had over 4000 para military troops protecting him as he went to South America. :omg: I guess that’s what it takes to protect the most hated man in the world.
Hey Krista! I emailed Kristin trying to get all the details, no reply so far.
So that’s like, what, 8000 guys?
That’s cause I was asleep… just woke up.
Oh, Iris Bahr (Russian prostitute) is on NPR’s Studio 360 this week for a good hefty portion. It’s a great interview and has some additional bits of her show, “Die.”
And Maron was on Mancow. Currently trying to find audio of that but you can listen to the show on the Mancow site. If you want to.
pj, Sorry about the ‘cuse. Doesn’t seem right. We love orange out here.
Reasons to thinks this freaking country has been looted and is now bankrupt, fiscally and morally…
PJ re 6 wow . :paranoid: That is why I refuse getting ANYTHING larger than a 5 gal propane tank to constantly hooking up when in the mountains — not 150 gal tank. I had to change it quite often and many laughed… but I could at least sleep in my cabin without worries :paranoid: . … or is it 1, 500 gal or a 5,000 gal tank they wanted me to try and get up the mountain 🙄 WHATEVER ❗ it was yearly 😮 😉

Ha! Vern, Goyette was just talking about that.
Maron on Mancow is here. Looks like he comes in toward the end (about 3:01).
We’ll be blowing up one train every six hours until Syracuse is in the NCAA tourney, damnit.
Mancow’s a bit of an asshole, though.

In hindsight, it was truly great because those lithographs that I gave him took a hell of a lot of work and him paying attention to me like that… made me feel like that work was appreciated, even if it wasn’t meant that way specifically.

re: Leni’s death…
I don’t think there was any weirdness about it. Honestly, I didn’t know about it until I got back last night. I really didn’t have a clue.
There wasn’t anything said.. there wasn’t anything vaguely mentioned… so I don’t know.
Listening to this Mancow and Maron thing… it sounds pretty good. The relationship between the two, etc. It’s funny. Not a fan of Mancow and I’m realizing that the show I “interned” on this summer was more of a Mancow copy than I could’ve EVER imagined.
Yeah. Wow. Really not fond of Mancow. But the combo of Maron and Mancow… I can handle.
U.S. military planners have begun work on a fallback strategy in case the U.S. troop buildup in Iraq fails, including a gradual pullout of U.S. forces and more emphasis on training and advising Iraqi forces, the Los Angeles Times reported in Monday’s editions.
The strategy, based partly on the U.S. experience in El Salvador in the 1980s, is in the early planning stages, the newspaper said, citing U.S. military officials and Pentagon consultants who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Done deal. Looting accomplished. Rats are already on the ship that won’t sink. Money is already there. Dick II will join them if need be. Bush II as well. Doesn’t Dubai almost sound like Dubya?

I think parents who produced George, Neil and Jeb, should have their citizenship withdrawn and an enormous fine imposed to help pay for some of the damage they’ve done to this country.

Sad but true. :knit2:

Toledo, who LOST their semi-final game, was invited. Akron, who WON their semi and had a much better record, was not. Go figure.
The NIT usually invites two or three MAC teams every year. Don’t know what the deal was this year. Sucks for the seniors.

Amaechi signs first mainstream endorsement deal
March 12, 2007
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Former NBA player John Amaechi became the first openly gay male athlete to sign an endorsement deal with a mainstream company.
HeadBlade Inc., creators of a popular head-shaving razor, announced Monday it had signed Amaechi to a multiyear deal. Financial terms were undisclosed.
“I think it’s fantastic that HeadBlade has approached me to endorse the brand,” said Amaechi in a statement.

Why is Hliburton moving to Bubai?
It turns out that such a move would hinder their ability to get US contracts. So they are spinning off KBR. KBR will become an independent US company and Haliburton will move.
Do you think they will be moving incriminating evidence and hard to subpeona Vice Presidents with them, leaving the money maker here And, is there a place for Neil on the team?

I think Dennis just feels his campaign needs every opportunity it can get to get the message out. But I have to disagree with him on this one. Nobody should give Fox the time of day. If asked about it, they should say, “Fox News is an entertainment network, and that’s fine, but if I’m going to to entertainment television, I’ll go on the Colbert Report. Otherwise, I’ll stick to news programs.”

Nice piece on CBC As It Happens about Brad Delp. Hope Goldjerk sends flowers.
SC/MUSIC: DELP OBIT Duration: 00:03:30
If you were a kid in 1976, and you liked rock music, you owned a copy of Boston’s first album. It was mandatory. The record was the fastest-selling debut of all time, and for good reason: it was awesome. And while Boston was the brainchild of Tom Scholz — who wrote and played all the music — songs like “More Than A Feeling” and “Peace of Mind” wouldn’t be car-radio staples without his partner in crime, singer Brad Delp. Last Friday, Brad Delp died, at the age of 55.
In the late ‘Sixties, Tom Scholz, a graduate of M.I.T.’s engineering program, started recording songs in his basement. Mr. Scholz was painstaking about transferring the sound in his head to tape: he built his own home studio, and even developed new technologies, to ensure that Boston’s Wagnerian pop songs achieved adequate grandeur. And in Brad Delp, Tom Scholz found a suitably powerful tenor.
For his part, Delp seemed to view himself as something of a second banana. Regarding his role in realizing Scholz’s elaborate sonic constructions, he once said, “I am just lucky to be the guy who was there.” But Tom Scholz was lucky as well: in Brad Delp, he found a collaborator who was not just a headbanger’s Pavarotti, but also a technician who could skilfully create multi-part harmonies with his own voice. Without Delp, Boston could have sounded like a music geek’s studio project — which, admittedly, it was. But because of Delp, Boston actually sounded like a group of humans. Or, more accurately, like a symphony of human musicians, accompanied by a choir of shirtless dudes standing on a fleet of Dodge Chargers, caterwauling in a canyon.
Delp sang on three more Boston albums, and even after he hit fifty, he could still hit the high notes. He continued to tour with the band that made him famous, while playing bars with a Beatles tribute act called Beatle Juice.
But his lack of ego meant he never became a celebrity. In one interview, when he was praised for his astonishing vocal prowess, he replied, “I just think I have a high voice.”
Well, there was a little more to it than that. Here are the many voices of Brad Delp: from 1976, this is Boston, with “Peace of Mind”.
OMG! Mancow. The ‘brilliant’ humorist who brought us this.
After a stint at KDON (the first radio station to feature UFO Phil) in Monterey, California, Mancow headed north to San Francisco. In 1993, Mancow made national headlines while working for radio station 107.7 KYLD-FM in San Francisco, California. At the time, a story had been circulating that President Clinton had tied up traffic on an LAX runway for over an hour because of a haircut on Air Force One. Mancow staged a parody of this incident on the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge during rush hour. He used vans to block the westbound lanes of the bridge while his then sidekick, Jesus “Chuy” Gomez, got a haircut.
As a result of this publicity stunt, Mancow was prosecuted and subsequently convicted by a San Francisco Municipal Court judge of a felony. His sentence included three years probation, a $500 fine and 100 hours of community service. The radio station eventually paid $1.5 million to settle a lawsuit filed by a bridge commuter.
I won’t desecrate a stick picking through the mancow dung to find Maron. If anyone clips it, let me know. At least he has the decency not to call himself bull.

Sue P,
I was a little flip earlier about this whole thing but I think D-666 and I and probably most of us are in agreement. The whole Halliburton crime scene and all of it’s participants should be surrounded and sent to Guantanamo until we get to the bottom of it all.
This was the real attack on our way of life. We may not survive it and these criminals (sorry to rats in earlier post) are sailing away.

In and interview with the Chicago Tribune today, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Peter Pace said that he thinks “homosexual acts are immoral.”
“My upbringing is such that I believe there are certain things, certain types of conduct, that are immoral. … I believe that homosexual acts between individuals are immoral and that we should not condone immoral acts,” he said.
