As we approach the four year anniversary of the beginning of our glorious triumph known as the invasion and occupation of Iraq (the fourth year is Fruits and Flowers, by the way), it’s time for another round of Sunday boobleheads.
On Press the Meat, it’s the icky Tom Delay (shouldn’t he be in prison with the rest of his friends?) and the even ickier, Richard Perle (who I thought had to stay in his coffin when the sun’s up). Representing the human race, there’s the director of “Win Without War,” Tom Andrews, and PA’s Joe Sestak. And then Chuck Schumer will talk about Alberto Gone-zales (hey, Chuck, big Al isn’t enough; Rove’s gotta go, too).
At the best damn Sunday talking head show, Faze the Nation (it’s the best, because it’s the shortest), SecDef Bob Gates and semi-Democrat Dianne Feinstein will keep bush buddy Bobby Schieffer company.
Over at Fux News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace hosts shitcanned US Attorneys Bud Cummins and David “Julio” Iglesias, plus the tough talkin’ and impotent Sen. Arlen Specter, and John Kerry.
On the Goebbels Network, George Snufalufagus chats with fellow deadhead Pat Leahy, and batshit crazy redneck John “Corn Out” Cornyn. Then it’s National Security Adviser, Stephen “Elmer” Hadley. At the roundtable, it’s Mr. Claire Shipman, Jay Carney, the woman who ran Al Gore’s brilliant 2000 campaign for president, Donna Brazile, Mrs. Jay Carney, Claire Shipman, and George :jerk: Will. Plus, Sam Waterston (what, is everybody from Law and Order running for president now? If so, I’m voting for Munch).
Over at CNN, it’s, oh, hell, who gives a shit? If Wolfie isn’t enough to deter you, they have Carville on, too. Though it’s kinda fun (in a creepy sorta way) to turn the sound down and just look at him. It’s kinda like watching an iguana or something in a terrarium.
Later, on 60 Minutes, Scott Pelley speaks with Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich, who is charged with killing 18 Iraqi civilians in Haditha (and who looks like he’s about 12 years old), and Anderson Cooper wastes air time on Simon Cowell for some fucking reason.
Have a good one.
Russert gives DeLay air time? Boy, am I glad that BC got thumped yesterday. What a sick fuck he is.
Take it easy on Donna Brazile. She did win the election, after all. Whoever picked Joe mentum and handled the recount was the problem here. :sammy:
Tutuola for me, a president that’s cool and hip!
All captured on tv by Steve Irwin hisself!
Love the floating shamrocks! PJ, you write the absolute best Sunday ’round-up on the web.
Morning Seditionists! We saw Maron last night (went with Becky in Atl) and it was a fabulous show. He recognized Becky from his Myspace page!! He was in top form and we just had a blast. He went after the repubs and there were many in the audience. We liberals cheered and Maron egged us on since he realized we can’t do that much here in GA. It was great fun to watch the thugs squirm and not even understand some of the jokes. Maron pointed out that they were clueless. It was just a wonderful night. We talked afterwards and he’s doing really well.
Speaking of clueless, I’ve been mired in some stuff here and surrounded by folks who yesterday innocently asked, “What is an Episcopalian anyway?” and “I once knew some Mormons. They were kinda nice.” and “The problem today is we need more shows like Father Knows Best on our teevees.” (to which I replied, yeah, that put a lot of women on valium. Let’s go back there again.” UGH. I trudge on…..
Hope you are all well and even though I haven’t had time to visit, I think about you and miss you.
kp, are you sure it wasn’t Khalid Sheikh Mohammed who took those critters?
Hi FK, it’s nice to see you. Glad you got to see Marc.
FK,
Great story.
The Mormon issue is pretty weird. I heard secondhand that C-SPAN has had a lot of callers bagging on the religion and Mitt Romney. (disclaimer: C-SPAN callers are all insane.) Apparently it revolves around the “fact” that Jesus is the devil’s brother or that Joseph Smith has higher standing than Jesus. If I got that wrong, it doesn’t matter, because it is all folk-lore to me and folk-lore morphs in content over time. The best bet is to say you are a Unitarian is the only way to get ahead in politics, as you can say you belong to a church yet not believe in anything. Episcopalians I think used to have something to do with the Church of England or Aglicans, but that didn’t seem right to Americans so they changed the name for USA consumption.
Speaking about a trio of atheists/agnostics, I wish I could see the Janeane/Marc/Henry Rollins thing. The show is called “It’s Not A Play And There’s No Music.” Rollins was on RingOfFire yesterday and he is funny as heck. Mike Papantonio apparently has read and listened to everything he has done.
Oh yeah? Well, I made a styrofoam model of the solar system once.
semi-Democrat Dianne Feinstein
Dianne Feinstein received a B.A. in History from Stanford University in 1955 where she served as Student Body Vice-President from 1954 to 1955.
Cardinal-Red
Farmerkat, you have been missed. I hope your exile will end soon.
hey everyone! Kat…so good to see you! So glad you saw Marc.
i was just thinking how nice it is to watch him get more and more famous. Maybe I feel that way because I have a Google search for him so I get to see alot of the local writeups. It just seems like alot of stuff is popping for him since AAR dumped him…and that is good/bad news. Why would he want to take a chance with the green’s…especially as Im reading that everyone pretty much hates Mark green personally…hmmm…
I dont know much about that because I havent seen him in a position where his personal strengths and weaknesses have been spotlighted…but it might explain his inability to get far in politics in NYC…apparently he is considered a dick, even in those circles! Considering how many dicks there are in NY politics, thats saying alot…
Anyhoo…horrid AM here with Mom ramming the Jeep into an icebank and getting stuck and me having to go out and 4WD back and forth before coffee…finally got the thing out and Mom is trying to keep it out until I can get my guys here to help move huge ice chunks blocking the driveway.
My plow friend blew his transmission and the other has a sick wife and the other just isnt showing up…so its one of those days.
At this point it has to be moved by hand anyway.
It just feels like my life lately is made up of so much ramming of vehicles through imovable ice walls….
So, the guys, at a pancake breakfast at the other firehouse downtown will be here soon…
I called the firehouse up here and asked them to come and drive the firetruck over the bump blocking the driveway and they said that they had just been stuck and went through hell getting the FIRETRUCK out!
WTF???
But then, coffee on board and feeling like I didnt sleep because I didnt….I laughed out loud at PJ’s bobblehead rundown…iguana in a terrarium indeed!…Thanks PJ…I miss the funny!
I dont know if Maron as part of a Sunday morning Gaggle for an hour is gonna fill the void left by 3 hours of runon commentary…but Ill take what I can get.
And I think that the White House should follow every suggestion spewed out by Tony shitface on McLaughlin…KEEP Gonzo…go ahead, Keep him!! The cesspool of an oval office, all those “christians” born-again and holding hands, on knees in a circle…BFF’s…Harriet, Gonzo, Rummy, king George, Boss-C, fall to their knees and say hallelujah!! The rapture is nigh…
The cesspool is not complete without Gonzo….
BTW, Elenore says that its “terrific” for the Dems if Gonzo survives, because he is such a good whipping boy.
Mark Green got a very bad name when he ran for mayor. the fight was ugly and Green’s campaign (I believe he pulled a Klink and swore he knew nothing) put out some last minute anti-Sharpton stuff.
When he was public advocate, he was smart, said all the right things and did nothing.
re #9 from me
I always vote for her.
wvmc3d, Did you know her hubby is a major defense contractor …?
,,, and sadly I vote for her also, until i and others get RID (prob not 🙁 ) of the not-so-nice & selfish woman!
:barf: :yuck: :growl:
BITCH A.I.V. toxic lady
No to be picky, but I believe that would be “pulling a Schultz.”
Sgt. Schultz, not Ed, of course. Although, Ed doesn’t seem to know much, either.

Sometimes Biden has his moments.
Yeah, that was a good speech from old Joe. Nice to see his time in Syracuse did at least a little bit for him.
Did he go to SU?
5 re Farmerkat … You {and your FARM} have sorely been missed. Hows the “marble”?(LBH) 😉 Blessings AWN :om: :gate:
D-666,
I know almost everything about her and Richard Blum (he’s a money guy who once saved Ringling Brothers and owned a chain of ice cream parlors) as well as her first two husbands and her daughter…
Forgive me for being pragmatic. She has always been the lesser of two evils.
Though I often disagree with her and let her know, she does some good things and she is actually nice. If selfish means rich as all get out, she’s guilty. She has married well, several times.
Meanwhile, Melina missed a :fire: and a :parrot: opportunity. I thought at first that maybe a parrotlet was a little temporary toilet for birds.
FK did not get into any hugging dish.
wow Andy, thanks for that clip! incredible….
Its not so much Biden because his theatrical fiery moments dont carry through to mean much of anything, but that anyone at all can stand up now and say this stuff….
6 months ago it would have been unthinkable!
Too little too late, unless Biden was marching over with Impeachment papers in his hand…but, hell, its something!
That was my reaction too. at least it’s something.
has anyone heard of that twittervision thing? Now there is a twittervision maps…pretty fun….
Graduate of the SU Law College, class of ’68 (one of my previous employers, in fact).
I cut Joe a little bit of slack ‘cuz he can talk a good game(at times), he’s a Scorpio, and he lost his wife and their baby daughter in a car accident, right after he got elected to the Senate. He can be kinda goofy at times, and, as Melina says, he seems to be all talk. He’s pretty smart, though, and (while you can say this about damn near anybody) he’d certainly be a better prez than asshole (or anybody lined up on the Republican side for ’08).
My brother got his masters at SU.
Did it do him any good? I’m starting to wonder if mine will help me or not (I don’t know what the market demand for old bastards is these days).
Well the Today Show chimp would make a better president than bonzo…and/or anyone theyre offering up….this Rudy thing is very telling about the level that the American people are on as far as information. Watching it unfold to them is gonna be the fun part….
31. Did it do him any good?
Well he’s the borough manger of Lansdowne, just outside of Philly and he’s certainly maiking way more money than his ne’er do well brother.
Cheers All,
wvmc3d, I even worked as a volunteer (14 1/2 and on…) and it was after Cranston.and on her first campaign and SADLY!!! I voted for her since … OHHHH SOOOO SADLY VOTED FOR HER :barf:
AND I have known — at one time — MANY… especially at school and IN MY CITY … of those “dripping” money as friends and acquaintances have and did “drip”. I care not if SHE married WELL … You have no idea
:slap: 😉 … :rofl2: Want to dance? LBH whatever… 🙄
a.i.v.
I listened to a bit of the talk shows this morning ( I get violent and endanger the TV so it’s always brief ) and I still did not hear the question I want answered:
Who put that provision into the PATRIOT act and why? Clearly they wanted a way to put in Rethugs that would have trouble being confirmed.
Why doesn’t Specter say that he put it in?
As ThinkProgress noted earlier this week, on Jan. 18, Attorney General Alberto Gonzales told the Senate Judiciary Committee, under oath, that the Bush administration never intended to take advantage of a Patriot Act provision that allows the President to appoint “interim†U.S. attorneys for an indefinite period of time, without Senate confirmation.
I am fully committed, as the administration’s fully committed, to ensure that, with respect to every United States attorney position in this country, we will have a presidentially appointed, Senate-confirmed United States attorney.
But Justice Department emails from Dec. 2006 released this week show that Gonzales’s then-chief of staff Kyle Sampson intended to use this provision to make an end-run around the Senate:
There is some risk that we’ll lose the authority, but if we don’t ever exercise it then what’s the point of having it?
