So, lotsa talk, but Gonzo aint Gone-Zo quite yet. Fuck him anyway – I want Rove. And not just to resign to spend more time with his fake family. I want him to go to prison. Of course, if I have him pegged right, he’ll adjust much more quickly than a lot of people might. In other news, we might’ve been screwed out of the NCAA’s, but that didn’t keep us from breaking the 28-yr old NIT attendance record, with over 26,000 watching SU spank San Diego State last night. Hey, what can i tell ya; it’s Syracuse in March. Not like there’s a hell of a lot of other stuff going on. Next up is a trip to Clemson on Wednesday. It might only be the NIT, but winning always beats the hell out of losing. Have a good Tuesday.
First again? C’mon folks, this is too easy.
My original thought on Gonzo was that he would be gonzo Friday afternoon, just in time for the pre-weekend news dump. Now I’m not sure he’ll make it through the week. I heard last night that there are already preliminary interviews going on in search of a candidate for replacement.
So long, torture boy. Don’t let the waterboard hit you on the ass on the way out. :spank:
Good Morning. :joe:
Morning all :joe: :joe:
I came across a very interesting blog, “Pams House Blend” this morning. The focus seems to be the religious right, but generally anything ant-gay. Good commentary and fascinating articles I’ve never come across before.
U.S. Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald was ranked among prosecutors who had “not distinguished themselves” on a Justice Department chart sent to the White House in March 2005, when he was in the midst of leading the CIA leak investigation that resulted in the perjury conviction of a vice presidential aide, administration officials said yesterday.
The ranking placed Fitzgerald below “strong U.S. Attorneys . . . who exhibited loyalty” to the administration but above “weak U.S. Attorneys who . . . chafed against Administration initiatives, etc.,” according to Justice documents.

Dozens of insurgents wielding machine guns surrounded the police station before dawn Monday in Duluiyah, a majority Sunni town about 45 miles north of Baghdad. The five officers on duty walked out, hands to the dark sky, and waited to be executed.
But instead of firing, the insurgents’ leader spoke: Repent, he commanded, or die.
“So we swore to quit the police and support the Islamic State of Iraq,” recalled Mohammad Hashmawi, one of the police officers, referring to a militant Sunni organization active in many parts of the country.

Yeah, there’s nothing like the total loss of all data to make you think about a backup plan. I mean, they had backup tapes, they just never bothered to see if they were usable. You have to wonder if the fact that “there was no witch hunt” and nobody got fired is because some upper mucky-muck told this guy to go and wipe out these hard drives. I mean, not just the one, but the backup one, too. And he must’ve run Kill Disk or something on them, ‘cuz just reformatting the drive wouldn’t make the data unrecoverable. He must’ve run like 10-15 passes on ’em.

A.I.V.
13. Exactly.
Oh no, look at this!
Is Seder Out at Air America?
http://www.talkingradio.blogspot.com/
There’s more:
from majorityreportradio.com
Marc maron speaks: “sam has not been fired.”
The end of this story hasn’t been told; but Marc Maron gave his side to BlatherWatch tonight. “They [Air America] made me an offer. Initially it was unclear what time slot I would fill.”
Maron says he considered the offer.
His joy, no doubt was dampened when he learned that the new owners’ plans for him were for Sam’s 9-ta noon time slot.
He says they were going to switch out Seder into the evening.
Maron says, “Sam did not know this.” And after thinking about it, he told Seder.
“I turned down the offer for a number of reasons. One of the reasons I turned it down was my respect for and my relationship with Sam.”
He says, that as far as he knows, “Sam has not been fired.”
This doesn’t sound like such stable ground for Sam- we’ll be waiting to hear what comes next.
(AAR never seems to stop delivering flaming bags of mellerdramer to the media… a piece of advice for the brave, new/old network: don’t be fucking with our Rachel…)
Another regular show must have sounded pretty good to Marc Maron- especially with new AAR management.
Wow, did you see this comment to the story at BlatherWatch?
Talk about the exact fucking opposite of what I think….
I say, put Sam on from 6-9PM Eastern. Let Rachel co-host with Riley from 6-9AM, Maron 9-noon. Then see if you can get Malloy back, from 9PM ’til midnight. Put the Turds on somewhere between midnight and six AM. Or not.
Yes PJ you speak the truth [PJ, if ya ever want to] … :yippee:  . e-Mail with MSists as supporters of what you say to whomever … If you want to push your “weight” around I/MANY WILL SIGN [or type my/our name or whatever 🙄 😉 ❗ ] … and/or we could just email ourselves like we did before … which is cool 8) also. Leaders of AAR say, “If it is not broke ‘Let’s f$%# it up  ‘”.
A.I.V.
Yes, “Turks” is not a morning show – for one thing, they never announce the time! (Marc was fastidious about this.) For another,
I am not interested in Jill Pike’s love life and Cenk’s sexual fantasies
first thing in the morning (or any time) and since Cenk has to use
the a-word for “butt” every 15 minutes or so, the program has a bad effect on my 10-year-old (at least the the racier MS content went over his head). I wouldn’t miss the “Turks” if they went away entirely,
but at least, they should move out of the morning slot.
And please, get Riley a decent length show at a decent hour or
get rid of the program entirely. It feels like “the man” is throwing him a bonewith his one lousy hour in the middle of the night. Pairing him with Rachel or again with Marc would be great –
Riley has a unique point of view and a gift for putting headlines into an historical perspective.
I would listen to Sam at any hour. I prefer his show with Janeane as an occasional comedy guest to the old Majority Report.
But…Maron…must have him in the morning just like my coffee…PLEASE, PLEASE COME BACK….will wait by radio forever….
This story does sound like a bit of a misunderstanding so maybe on site reporter Farmerkat can check back in and let us know if she heard anything at her show.
I like your lineup, pj.
The good news is at least they apparently offered Maron a show. I don’t understand what was wrong with Seder moving to nights since he is better there anyway. It would be a little tough on Marc doing the morning time slot from LA and I doubt he is willing to move again. Then again, it would be the same hours for him as MS.
Does anyone have e-mail addies for Mark Green or David Bernstein? It sounds like we’re gonna need then.
Well…that sucks….I hope to god that they offer Maron the night slot!
Riley should go….he is horrible!
Rachel should be in the mornings with some sort of ensemble…young turks gone….Sam needs to stay….
Forget Malloy…hes burned bridges and he is so angry most of the time its hard to even listen to him.
I notice that noone even mentioons Randi…ha!
Our signal fades to nothing in the afternoon/evening but when it suddenly comes in and I hear her rasp I get an icky feeling.
If they get rid of Sam Im gonna be finished with them….
I think we need to write to this new guy to offer marc the evenings.
Who is on in the evneings anyway?…Rachel?….damn
 wvmc3d, In California, I , also, like Marc at Night … 8)
a.i.v.
I think Riley is okay for “the morn”… but would be super HOT :hot: with R&R …Riley & Dr.Rachael 8) cool
AND MARC, I do not care whether he is on-air Day or Night … but night is always 8) cool  , BUT HE SHOULD HAVE LET SAM GO TO The Evening. New Management was just “TESTING”. 🙁
a..i.v.
Marc in the evenings would be acceptable, but I think he makes for a better morning show, personally. Sam at night would be fine. Since he doesn’t get to live with his family during the week anymore, it shouldn’t make too much difference to him when he’s at work. Rachel is good at reading the news. She should stick to that. She’s too snarky for me (or wannabe snarky). She needs to be on early in the morning, in case I accidentally wake up too soon, and need help getting back to sleep. Otherwise, she needs to be on with a couple of interesting people. Maybe her, Riley, and Sue Ellicott.
pjsauter (or wannabe snarky) :rofl2:
a.i.v.
Aiiii! Mi Seditionisti! My Blogsibs! I go away for a few days and I come back to rumors that Sam may be next on the block!
(I had a crisis with a friend to attend to. I think I’m back now, at least for saying hi. That Woman is STILL out sick…)
After Rachel is, what, David Bender for an hour, then EcoTalk for an hour, and then Jon Elliott, who I’ve never listened to. No offense to any of them, but Marc or Sam for three hours in there would be an improvement. They can get those shows back to weekends, where they belong.
I want Maron for 3 hrs sometime between 6 am and noon pac time when I think he is better at least for me. I also would like Riley with him–the smooth to Marc’s prickliness. Back to my book blogsibs :penguin:
And am I the only one who thinks Hartman is just too monotone for mid-day?
I’m thinking Marc could get more affiliates in the night slot. He would have a tough time displacing Stephanie although his show would kick her *(deleted for Colette’s kid). I don’t think Malloy has caught on in that many places yet and the AAR stuff is throwaway.
I agree with the Rachel and Riley (with a lot of help from Kent Jones and/or another sidekick) ) in Seder’s slot and get Sam on before Marc at night perhaps or after R&R. Then Randi (if we have to) stays put followed by Seder or Hartmann (if we must), then Huggy 9-12 ECT. Much as I hate to say it, the Hartmann slot vs. Fat Headdie is probably a sacrificial lamb. So is Seder’s present slot against the locals and Stephanie.
Yes, gypsy, I totally agree. I would rather see him on late at night or pre-dawn.
I’m with you, Gypsy. We used to get Hartman re-runs from 10-noon
on Sundays and I really enjoyed learning from him as I ran errands and drank coffee. But during my workday, I can’t really appreciate his show. It’s cerebral, densely-packed, often depressing, and moves at an unvarying pace (except for the musical interludes). Maybe the noon hour is the wrong time for Tom? Maybe two hours is enough per day?
And EcoTalk – not a daily show. Betsy Rosenberg is smooth but very bland. I’m ready for snark at that hour.
eek 😮 I LUV  Thom … Leave My Dear Sweet Fernadnado alone. sniff , :growl:
a.i.v.
Wvmc3d – thanks for the asterisk!
What if Sam’s show preceeded or followed a Maron show and they
had a segment or two of overlap every day when they could visit
with each other – that would be cool.
Rachel and Kent are very child safe…but like PJ, I find the Kent of MS is much funnier (Angus, Lawton).
Fat Heady is coming to our town; maybe that will give me some
clue as to who likes that guy (not me!) I would imagine that many would tire of him as I did (almost immediately). But perhaps he has
as much support as he thinks he does.
OK I have no link for this but I hear cheney is having trouble with his leg again and may have to be hospitalised. Can a resignation for health reasons be far behind?
I can’t see Hartmann in the morning. Not if I have to get up. I like him, but I wouldn’t call his show “exciting.” That’s what I really, really miss about MS. I mean, I literally *loved* it when 6 AM rolled around. In fact, I set the alarm for 6:06, even though I didn’t have to get up until 7:00. TMMS was definitely not a morning show, either. I don’t know if it’ll ever be possible to get MS back again. There was just something about the evolution and combination of the cast of characters that made it the most unique radio I’ve ever heard. I mean, to find yourself laughing – literally – to tears while getting a solid dose of progressive politics and real news, all before nine AM, was just incredible. It certainly destroyed NPR for me, and any tolerance I might have had for “traditional” media (or morning zoo radio)
Maybe Cheney will resign to spend more time with Alberto Gonzales’ family.
One thing about Thom’s show that I am not sure I like or that bugs me is when he has on guests from the other side of issues like gun control or gay marriage. We know they exist and how they think already. They get plenty of forums and are unavoidable in the MSM. I guess Thom is just ‘teaching’ us how to debate. Most of the time I would think these guests are bits or jokes except that this show is mostly humor-free.
Also, I HATE most of his music, especially the ‘funny’ songs..
Here’s a link, which may or may not be more reliable than this more traditional media link:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17704205
Yeah, I don’t mind so much that Thom has guests from the other side, but when they spout their bullshit, he rarely shuts them down and sets them straight. He always seems to let them say their shit, and then he runs out of time. He may have his say in the next segment, but I’d rather hear him directly challenge these assholes.
sniff 🙁 … Am I seeing what will come to be? Is another Fav getting The Boot again? Stats = most not happy with Thom … 😥
But he is 8) {cool} whilst I am working. Marc got me up and now Thom keeps me working — on the :omg: computer or even WORKING-OUT. .
And Thom does not make me irate. :cat: … cool 8) for the morning.
I  Thom {F the Bull} & His Info :pirate: :dancers:

Now, that I agree with… I HATE HIS BUMPER MUSIC ,,, except when he/someone seldom plays the Dixie Chicks
a.i.v.
I…an owl, not a lark, actually began to wake up at 5 am just so I wouldn’t miss the first hour of MS (I didn’t get up, though). I would listen while drifting in and out of sleep…was Marc saying what I was thinking about or was I thinking about what Marc was saying? I would be dreaming about something and finding, when I woke up, that it hooked into something happening in the show. But sometimes I laughed so hard it woke me up…or I had to get out of bed because I’d heard something so astonishing it made me sit up straight! Did Marc really imply what I thought he implied? Did Cardinal Milfington really cross the line with an outrageous reference? I liked MS pretty much from the start but it was Mort and Milf cemented it for me. And Marc talking about current events while commenting on himself talking about current events and noticing how everyone else was responding to his comments – all at the same time – this is also how my mind works and it was so refreshing to have company.
re 42  Thom does need to get more aggressive with rethug guests 🙄
On his blog today though they spoke much about “the gun” issue.

a.i.v. & wow the computer even answered rather quickly 😯
Well I’m getting ready to leave the car rental job :yuck: and off to two computer jobs tonight. I really need the dough but man I’m tired.
I just saw I spelt Fernando wrong :smack: 🙄 … Thom is a Taurus ie The Bull
Colette,
You nailed that one. After they took the 6-9 re-run of MS off here, I would lie in bed and listen and doze from 3-6. It was second nature for a WVa kid who slept with his transistor radio under his pillow listening to baseball games or faraway Top 40 flamethrowers from big cities and later psychedelic music out of Boston with Dick Summer (sorry, that was his name and he did AAR commercials for a Social Security claims lawyer until recently). I started to wake up whenever favored bits would show up and toward the end, I would just get up at 3 AM.
Lots of weird dreams from that radio-on sleeping. Probably explains a few things.
Well, I listen to Thom. But he’s on during walkies time, and I don’t worry too much about missing a couple of hours (same with Al). If it was Marc, I’d have to adjust the schedule.
Well….To me the thing not to do is to write new with our ideas of lineups. I think that we have to have a united front of keep Sam and bring back Maron….We don’t know the contracts of any of the existing players so we can’t really give advice. We need to keep the message simple.
Well Andy, just make sure you put a rootkit on every computer you work on. One of ’em may come in handy some day.
😉 andy aka Aquaman :banana: :gate: Happy Trails {from one who walked in similar moccasins}
I just wish I had PJ’s humour, since I don’t re-see 55 :rofl2:
And am I the only one who thinks Hartman is just too monotone for mid-day?
Comment by gypsy — March 20, 2007 @ 4:00 pm
I’m with you, gypsy. The only time I listen to Hartmann is if I know he is going to have a guest I want to listen to, and since his guest list is almost never on his web page, that amounts to Bernie Sanders on Fridays unless I stumble across something accidentally.
Honestly, if not for the Sammy late broadcast on KPOJ, I would probably listen to music after noon. My cube doesn’t get a lot of foot traffic due to its location, but I’m guessing that if my neighbors hear me snoring after lunch, I’ll probably be in trouble.
Since everyone else is throwing in their two cents on lineups, here’s mine. Marc needs to be on sometime during the AM so I can listen at work. 9 AM to noon on the West Coast gives him a slot that compliments Stephanie Miller’s show rather than competing with it, and it gets Hartmann out of Franken’s old slot for those of us who don’t take afternoon siestas.
Second choice for me would be Marc from 6-9 AM West Coast time, which puts him up against Stephanie. Not my preferred choice, but I can always listen to the main parts of Stephanie’s show on her website after the fact. I enjoy her show, but if you listen to it for a few weeks, you’ve heard every bit they are ever going to do unless they hire new writers.
I actually grew to enjoy Rachel in the morning, and wouldn’t mind seeing her back there. Kent Jones could sort of float between her show and Marc’s.
Of course, we would want to reassemble as much of the MS crew as possible. Make the show bi-coastal, with Marc in L.A. and Riley in New York, which each of them visiting the other locale on occasion.
I know this would probably be kinda pricey, but they have to be saving money just by having Franken off the payroll.
Melina,
It’s just fantasy radio league.
I already sent my message. Don’t lose Sam, bring back a West Coast based Marc on his own terms.
I really don’t give a * about the rest.
BTW, MS swag still available (if you don’t mind overpriced, CafePress crap).
I’ll be sending them my detailed lineup changes and new schedule, just as soon as I get the weekend lineup worked out. I know they’ll listen to us, because we are a small but very mentally unbalanced and somewhat dangerous group.
Mostly, I figure Marc doesn’t need these people.
Dangerous? I can’t even tie my shoes sometimes. I don’t know about being dangerous- seems like too much work to me.
My shoe kept coming untied in the rain when I went to the store today. I kept looking for John Kerry but nowhere to be found.
pj, you may be right about Marc but I think he still has an itch for radio. I don’t see an hour on Sunday HBO giving enough scratch.
Yeah, I think Marc would like to do daily radio. I just don’t know if AAR is the way to go or not. I hope so. I’d like to see it. I’ll bet HBO is a pretty good gig though. I wonder what Bill Maher gets for his one-hour show.
HELLO
I will vote for Marc in the morning so if AAR doesn’t pay him again he can work his usual night jobs 😮 😯 😯 and stay on the air to entertain us :omg:
    😮 😮
Nighty night all
Maher was pretty well established by the time he got there. He probably started at a reduced price since he was rehabbing from telling the truth and getting dumped by ABC. He must make good money judging from his lifestyle.
The HBO opportunity for Maron is great but I bet it won’t pay lots of money to start, especially if there are others involved. Then again, if someone at HBO lurks here, he could get the big bucks. A nice radio gig to go hand in hand would be a great career move. One would support and promote the other.
Oh, let’s face it, if somebody from HBO wasn’t lurking here, he’d never have gotten the shot at Aspen in the first place! 😉
Wow, fred came and went whilst I hunted and pecked.
I am disgusted. If AAR fires Sam, that will be the last time I listen. I suppose I can stomach NPR in small doses.
Hillary’s response to the “1984” ad:
A very good, response, I think.
Watch it. pj. You, the impartial Master of this Domain, would not want to be identified as being pro-Clinton. :omg:
Oh, well, credit where credit is due. It’s always good to be self-deprecating. Plus, I am from NYS, and Hillary is pretty darn popular here. She did an excellent job in her first campaign of coming up here and not saying much, but listening to what people’s concerns were. She won over Upstate NY, and that actually says a lot.
Now, I can’t stand her constant posturing, and I was (and continue to be) very upset with her vote to enable Bush and his war, and her failure to just say “I was wrong,” but, as I’ve said before, I think it would be cool to finally have a woman president, and I think she might just do a good job. I’d certainly have no trouble voting for her over Rudy, McCain, Huckleberry Hucklebee, or anything the Republicans are likely to throw at us.
So, we’ll see.
BTW, I also thought the 1984 ad was excellent.
How *ed would we be if LIEberman turned?
Would the Dems retain chairs over evenly split committees as I think happened in 2001 for the repugnants?
How much would we lose to cut loose this piece of ***? He will still vote/*** as always.
Now I have to decide if I want to drive to Berkeley to see Joe Boyd.
Happy Vernal =nox, y’all!
Remember you can get certain Coke for Passover with yellow caps that is made with cane sugar rather than corn goop.
Yes, my 2 cents is Maron in the morning. I hate to put him up against Stephanie Miller but that is the absolute best time for me to listen to a whole 3 hour show and Marc is someone I MUST catch every single day. I really like Stephanie too but……what Kevin said. There is already too many things on at that time that I want to listen to but Maron would be a huge priority. Obviously, Sam should stay. I can’t believe they are considering taking away another of my favorite hosts. It’s like they are TRYING to alienate me or something. ME! 😕
 Spring!

Its unbelievable to me too…Im so depressed when I think of how great it all was at the beginning….now, this new guy is a radio guy and he has to lok at the ratings and stuff…
I cant listen to thom hartmann. He is just boring. I would prefer to watch MSNBC do the news over and over..Kid lost in woods, kid lost in woods, student found electrocuted, kid found in woods, student died instantly, anna nicole smith comes back to life, bush speaks….
I was actually impressed that they reported on the protests over the weekend.
Engle is on the ScarCo now.
Marc in the morning has less of a chance of being pre-empted by the Flippers
Winking at cnick as I pass him by 😉

On the March 19 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, host Rush Limbaugh highlighted a March 19 Los Angeles Times op-ed that described Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) as “running for an equally important unelected office, in the province of the popular imagination — the ‘Magic Negro'” — a term used by critics of pop culture to describe certain benevolent African-American characters. Limbaugh stated: “The term ‘Magic Negro’ has been thrown into the political presidential race in the mix for 2008. And the term ‘Magic Negro,’ as applied to Barack Obama has been done by an L.A. Times columnist, David Ehrenstein.” Limbaugh later asserted: “I’m going to keep referring to him as that because I want to make a bet that by the end of this week I will own that term,” adding, “If I refer to Obama the rest of the day as the ‘Magic Negro,’ there will be a number of people in the drive-by media and on left-wing blogs who will credit me for coming up with it and ignore the L.A. Times did it, simply because they can’t be critical of the L.A. Times, but they can, obviously, be critical of talk radio.” Limbaugh continued to refer to Obama as the “Magic Negro” throughout the broadcast — 27 times, to be exact — and at one point sang “Barack, the Magic Negro” to the tune of “Puff, the Magic Dragon.” Limbaugh defended his use of the song, stating, “Well, that’s what we always do here. We do parodies and satires on the idiocy and phoniness of the left.”

where is Seanie Sean?

and fred? Is he outsourced to the basement?
Time to write snail mail, kiddies. Let’s let Mr. Bernstein know we want Marc AND Sam. Let the AAR suits worry about the timeslots.
For what it’s worth, Scott Elberg is the new Chief Operating Officer. If you have the 12/21 podcast of Marc subbing for Sam, you can hear him say nice things about Elberg. So I think a letter-writing campaign on behalf of BOTH of our “screaming Jews” might do wonders.
Fantasy Dem League.
Top spot to Gore, then Edwards, then after that Dodd, Obama, Clinton, Richardson…
Hillary will never go for VP (FLW). I hope Edwards might if Gore would run. Maybe the best ticket. Obama as well. Once Gore was done after 1 term or 2, they would be set to follow. Gore with just about any of them works for me although I hope Holy Joe is out at this point. If we need CT, Dodd will do. I think Clark or Richardson are also great VP options if someone needs some ‘experience/foreign policy/national security’ cover..
I still think Webb of Va.somehow in this race is possible if he is not too honest. Can’t be too honest. That’s McCain’s bag.
Sorry to Biden. I like him. He would really blow it somewhere.
Aw.
Hey blue.
White House Offers Interview With Rove
WASHINGTON Mar 20, 2007 (AP)— The White House offered Tuesday to make political strategist Karl Rove and former counsel Harriet Miers available for congressional interviews but not testimony under oath in the investigation of the firing of eight federal prosecutors.
