Had a series of thunderstorms roll through last night. I used to enjoy watching them, but, unfortunately, they scare the poor dog. Every time I’d get him settled down, another storm would come through. Having 80 pounds of dog curled up on top of you kind of limits your ability to move around. Makes me wish winter would come back.

Aaaargh. Back to work. Came in early anticipating monster backups on my desk and in my e-mail, but fortunately neither was too bad.
The Amy Winehouse backup from last night, on the other hand… 😀 Krista, I’m glad to hear you’re enjoying it. I brought the CD to work to play if/when the Young Turds start annoying me.
Kevin,

Did you see? I think you are down there. She is here next month.

No such luck. I’m in FL, not CA, and we tend to get ignored by major tours, let alone breaking acts. Is she coming here? I haven’t heard anything.
Kev…re: 46…is that your type? Boozy punk chick??
you shoulda known me in my 20’s….
Comment by Melina — March 26, 2007 @ 7:26 pm
So let’s see some pix! :hubba:
Actually, if there was a type I gravitated to back in the day, it was more intelligent than boozy. Combination of the two would have been perfect, but the intelligence has to be established prior to getting boozy, cuz it really doesn’t work if you try to do it the other way.
But, of course, I’d rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy.
Hey Kevin, thanks for recommending Amy Winehouse. I’m really diggin’ it.
Comment by Kristapea — March 26, 2007 @ 10:30 pm
Cool! Maybe if Maron’s HBO show has musical guests, we can get her booked. If she doesn’t get herself booked for public intoxication first.

Was that Dan Pashman back producing Sammy’s show yesterday? I heard Sam mention Dan several times but did not hear the laugh..

Goodling claim to 5th may be bogus.
A party can request a hearing (in federal or state court) to examine whether the party invoking the Fifth has done so properly. Goodling’s attorney’s letter does not provide a valid basis for invoking the Fifth. You can’t invoke the Fifth to avoid perjury charges (or obstructing justice with the selfsame testimony). (I have the cases here, if you want them.) You can’t invoke the Fifth because you think the Committee is on a witch hunt. Etc.
Thanks for everyones help yesterday. I feel ever so slightly better, but I’m taking the day off.
Kissinger’s extradition to Uruguay sought over Operation Condor
MONTEVIDEO (AFP) – An attorney for a victim of Uruguay’s 1973-1985 dictatorship has asked his government to request the extradition of former US secretary of state Henry Kissinger over his alleged role in the notorious Operation Condor.
’bout damn time.

Poor Tony Snow, liver cancer is a death sentence in
my limited experience.
I recall my Mom giving liberally to the cancer charities
way back when my uncle died of throat cancer in the mid-1960s.
Really thought we’d have a cure by now.
As much as I’d like to get the neocons out of government,
I don’t want to see it happen this way! (Jail and disgrace would
be nice.) Elizabeth Edwards’ stage 4 diagnosis is almost as depressing as Snow’s news. Why can’t we put our collective energies into preventing this?
well, I had the intelligence thing and the boozy thing, but I was pretty well controlled in the boozy dept, so people wouldnt really know how boozy I actually was…
But really, anymore, that whole drunken thing is sorta old and boring. Not to mention the time wasted on hangovers…
but I will try to sample her…can you pass a couple o files across skype?…or maybe pj can stream some for a day….just a lil musical interlude (as opposed to a quaalude, which never sat well with me back when)
Off to the gym…check you all from the phone.

Druid,
Yes, he had the surgery to remove the growth in his abdomen
even though it wasn’t strictly necessary (he said he was being
“overly cautious.”). I think the growth tested as malignant and the
docs also noted the cancer had spread to his liver. This news
must be much worse than he expected and as bad as he
could have feared.
He vows to beat it again but I think liver cancer has a very grim
course. I doubt he’ll be back as White House spokesman.
That sure sounds like Dan Paschman on Sam’s show.
Couric has always been a shill and a hypocrite
Yes, you see, John Edwards simply can’t in good faith continue his day job while his spouse has cancer, while his poor children are suffering at home over mommy’s diagnosis, since that would be exactly what Katie Couric, mother of two, did while her husband was dying of cancer. Couric stayed on the job, and her husband ultimately died.
Hey Collette it is Dan.
It isn’t liver cancer, it’s a recurrent colon cancer metastasis to the liver. Which means that colon cancer cells are in his liver, just as Elizabeth Edwards doesn’t have bone cancer, she has breast cancer metastasis in the bone. Primary liver cancer is bad enough but in some cases it can be operable. Liver mets are just plain bad. I don’t particularly like Tony Snow, but I wouldn’t wish this on anyone. This is a golden opportunity for those of us on the left side of the fence to show that we’re still mensches — unlike those on the other side.
brilliantatbreakfast, Just to show a balance.
Everyone dies … and I am not glib.
I “clinically” died numerous times one day to night WHEN I WAS 16years. When I was in my early 20’s my dear friend died because a jerk took him as “the wrong” Danny. They had to scrape this glorious man’s “martial arts” body — he in his very early 20’s — off the walls, as with the young female, girlfriend of the other Danny. A school female acquaintance dies in early twenties by being on the back of a motorcycle.. Death :reaper: comes to ALL AGES! And of course by father just died 2 weeks ago. Death is a part of Life.
It is how one Lives that Life before Death :reaper: comes!

FBI agents repeatedly provided inaccurate information to win secret court approval of surveillance warrants in terrorism and espionage cases, prompting officials to tighten controls on the way the bureau uses that powerful anti-terrorism tool, according to Justice Department and FBI officials.
The errors were pervasive enough that the chief judge of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court, Colleen Kollar-Kotelly, wrote the Justice Department in December 2005 to complain. She raised the possibility of requiring counterterrorism agents to swear in her courtroom that the information they were providing was accurate, a procedure that could have slowed such investigations drastically.

A 95-million-year-old marine lizard with minuscule front legs may shed new light on the evolution of modern reptiles, particularly snakes, scientists have reported.
The fossilized remains of the reptile represent the earliest known example of a lizard evolving toward a limbless state, according to experts who described the new species.

Druid, something at B@B has been behaving strangely for a couple of days. Trying to load the site on my work PC was freezing my browser too. But today it seems to be better. Also….I’m well aware of living till you die. My first experience with death other than my grandfather when I was too young to remember was the infamous List murders of Westfield, NJ. I was in community theatre with John List’s daughter and we were somewhat friends. Five members of a family murdered — that has warped my view of death ever since. Now, if someone’s grandmother dies at 85, it’s hard for me to summon up the appropriate “Oh, what a terrible tragedy” words.

Hello gang,
Well I got the oregano oil but it’s the liquid stuff. it comes with a dropper but the only instructions are two drops under the tongue, they don’t tell you how many times a day.
Little help?
When using Herbal drops I would use about every 4 to 6 hrs, depending on need. But PJ please answer, since you use O of Ore. 😉

But seriously… :rofl2:
I expect this kind of loaded language from Fox News, not the AP. Maybe when I have more time I should Google this David Espo guy.
The guy subbing for Rachel is not bad at all.

B@B, re #23, so true. I lost my sweet sister too young not too many years ago from cancer that was arrested in the lungs but then showed up in her liver and took her quickly. Thankfully, suffering was not prolonged as a result but many farewells were missed. I would not wish it on my worst enemy (or Danny G.). We are better than that. Good luck to Mr. Snow and his family. I seriously doubt that he will be resuming his prevaricator position again. I wonder if he will have an Atwater moment if the worst comes.
Kevin, I’ve been to Boca. I had an aunt who lived there and I spent a week there when my mother had a stroke on a cruise back in the days of William Kennedy Smith and the 2 Live Crew controversy. That was one of the most miserable times of my life. I do not have fond memories of FL.
Kev- re:40…..well, said insurgent is now stumping for Dodd, which I find to be a really tragic loss of talent at a time when we just cant fuck around.
He feels he owes Dodd because Dodd came out for him…but when is Dodd gonna get real anyway?
He is very effective and great at his job…more or less and relatively…but he will never be president. He just wont…so lets move on…
I think that Edwards needs Ned in his corner….
If its true that angry old men (like one in my family who shall remain unnamed) can give 2 wives terminal cancer and 1 shingles before she fled to the hills….maybe stress or maybe just the bad karma oozing around certain situations, then Tony Snow is exhibiting the signs of what happens when you play with fire.
I wish him good health and recovery, but the attitude of that man…the careless way that he has dealt with the lives of others…Im sorry, but he just sucks.
That said….he deserves the best of care, which Im sure is afforded him by the elite health plan offered to the WH staff.
I think we should give Florida to the Mexican government along with texas and may be OK too…(.well, Mr Farmerkat and a certain lawyer who I keep on staff down there just in case, prove that OK is not all trailer parks…some good people come out of there!…but we could maybe lose some southern states and be all the better for it…too humid for my taste!)
Of course, the people would have to be offered a comfortable choice….
Its mainly really Florida and TX that get on my nerves.
Other than Kevin and a few stray friends, adios FL.
I might have a little trouble with Texas. I might want to have some beach front property in Austin. We would have to do something about Austin. Maybe FL and Texas get swamped in the warming anyway?
 Tina Richards :yippee:
wvmc3d re 46, Good luck to Mr. Snow now there’s a difference. [BTW, Just My Opinion] In my years as a pacifist, since 13years, and by many decades as a Tibetan Buddhist [and still speaker and made appearances re alternative religions and a teaching Wiccan Druid], walking with a hand on The Peace Pagoda, in Los Angeles, then many groups were obviously, externally threatened (we had ZERO Rights … we have more now — but not balance) …constantly, we we told that we would be dead, especially when I was to speak. Then I saw the horrid behaviour of animals. Then I was always around to meet the hunters that teach their young how to KILL.
And then more constant arranged killings by the US, especially in Colombia and similar locations, as El Salvador. reagan, the lies, and the Masses of ?Americans “wanting, thus believing the lies.
And there’s so much more…
I believe ALL levels of our protests are needed. Just remember the I.R.A. regarding certain militant radical groups in the 80’s that got everyones attention! …. and the groups wanted just to “poof” material goods … but there is a belief … that is part what I am writing of now.
I guess the mother wolf came into action regarding protecting the students and all who practice different from Christianity … which I question … but most importantly, as H.P. and as the Public Information Officer (P.I.O.)for an organization, made appearances nationwide.
Just remember what Mahatma Gandhi said to his son … Ya

…but don’t forget the animals … are we trying to grow in WISDOM or are we staying as simple beasts and killing just because one is a simple beast … humans have the abilities to be WISE or Stupid.
