I wonder if John McCain and Joe Lieberman would still like to volunteer to lock arms and saunter around Baghdad?
FristFitz again!!
How are you all this morning? I’m worried about Sammy. How about you?
Good morning Jill. I’m worried about not being able to find the AAR feed. But I’ll keep trying.
No Sammy? No way! :slap:
brilliantatbreakfast, tea :joe: Cheers.
I think Sam has been playing with my AAR “mind”. I think it is a Show, an act.. I thought he also was given the boot, but then I heard he truly is on “the New Line-Up”.
A.I.V. … Russians (now on loop) … Sting 8)
Morning/Evening, all! :yinyang:
Hi to you Druid! AAR hasn’t been a big ‘listen to’ on my dial. Should it be?
Jill,
At least Sam is back on this morning. Saturday is the 3rd anniversary of AAR so I guess the contract is up. Perhaps tomorrow is the end. I do not dismiss the AAR and talent playing these dramas for the attention and the ‘masses’. I guess I will be tuned into SammyCam tomorrow even though Maron is gone to see if we have another swan song. Last Friday I go out of my way, though.
April Fools’ Day is Sunday so maybe on Monday there will be some real revelations.
You say Seder and I say Seder, maybe they’ll call the whole thing off. Still looking for Kosher Coke.
Good Morning :joe:
Good morning. Blowing off going to city hall to pay a parking ticket to listen to Sammy. No feed, but WWRL is coming in clear today. I’m now caught up in the drama as to whether he’ll be here.
Kristapea from yesterday…
Kristapea, you must not mean (#45) Katz’s on West Houston in NYC, Send a salami to your boy in the army?
Is there a Katz’s in AZ you refer to? I am not seeing McCain in SoHo.
King Kong :yippee: The Grand King of the FUTURE.
How are you? I am just worried and thinking about the “held” British soldiers.
RE AAR: I am Waning. 😉 and sad.
I am working and “musing” about Radical Action Activists. (RAA — as I term/name it. ) Sounds like an Egyptian God :hubba: … :rofl2: .
ohhhhh another A. A. :rofl2: [ A SF Arrogant Attitude so soooomefolk down south have “called it”. 🙄 … LBH joke :rofl2: ].
ARREST! & IMPEACH! then V. Russians … Englishman in New York … Sting
I am Waiting 🙄 …A.I.V.
Yes, Vern, there is a Katz’s Deli on Central Ave in downtown Phoenix and they have the BEST pastrami and eggs!
So, uh…does anyone want to help me finance my new Ducati?
I’m just dreamin’…I better get back to doing the dishes and mowing the lawn.
Somewhere I read a rumor that Sam would make an
announcement tomorrow and that his show would end,
the end of this month (also tomorrow). Hope it’s not true!
Riley said this morning that Mark Green had some big
company shindig at his apartment last night and everyone was
there. Was Sam there? I just tuned in on the stream and
was wondering if he said anything about it. If he didn’t attend
the big AAR 2.0 cast and crew get together, that would be
a bad sign.
Riley said it was a good time and Green made everyone take leftovers home.
Why am I up listening to Riley?????? I should have been asleep
at that hour and usually I am.
Oh there are more folks on — So TEA :joe: CHEERS TO ALL!
HAVE A Good And POWERFULLY Active Day. …
A.I.V. I “saved” what I truly wrote :rofl2:
What should I say to Rove if I’m able to see him? http://tinyurl.com/2nznw2
Yeah Collette I’m with you. I hear Sam is gone then he’s not, I don’t know what’s going on.
Who the heck would they replace Sam with, three hours of Mark Green? If that’s the case, then you’ll know it’s a case of Rich Guy Buys Kid Brother a Radio Network to Play With. :fu:
Good morning, bloggerini. I am here and mostly awake.
Damn Woman is STILL out sick. But at least today she is seeing a doctor.
My mother just came out in support of Hildog. I’m annoyed. I always thought my mom was smart and a hard leftie. She says Hildog’s the most electable Dem now and we need a Dem and a Dem Congress to “correct the damage” so it doesn’t matter WHO that Dem is.
:tommygun: 😡 :rant1: :fu: :jason: :slap:

Looks like Sampson’s hair was cut recently
Oh, I guess it would be Samson that I’m thinking of. Hey, it’s early for me, man. I can’t be at the apex all the time- not that I was before this point or anything, but still.
brilliant,
I have always wondered when Jim Hightower might get a radio show again. He used to have one with ABC. I can’t imagine that
anyone would edge out Sammy except someone with a “bigger”
name.
It’s going to take more than good programs to turn this
around (from talkingradio.blogspot.com):
“…To say that lib talk is in free fall would be an understatement. In a little over a year, 24 stations that reached a potential audience of over 15 million radio listeners, have dropped the format…”
:crap: sometimes i just want to punch people in the face
Sammy says to Atrios, “Hopefully we’ll talk to you
next week.”
So there will be a next week???
Actually, it sounds more like Sammy doesn’t yet know if HE’LL be back next week. :knit2:
Hi Gypsy :yippee: and Travisdem04 :yippee:
And Kristapea :yippee: and SeanMS and Colette and pjsauter and ANYONE who is there!
Travis, Projectile Vomiting sounds like the ticket…

I still like The Traditional instruments of the Time … as with Renaissance. Music :omg: 😉 C-Ya
OMG, Colette, you just be joking. Jim Hightower? Yes, his heart’s in the right place, but remember the bits he used to do for Mark Riley’s show when it was 2 hours? Awful. And they’re going to trade in Sam for THAT? Yeesh.
Maybe they were counting on having Marc to replace Sam, and now they’ve got nothing. Sam could easily replace anything that’s on in the evening (all due respect to Rachel, David, and what’s her name), but I don’t know what’s out there that could replace Sam in the morning. Maybe they could entice Springer to come back.
Or give Reilly 6-9, and move the Turds to 9 – noon? Whoo-hoo.
Gee, this Sampson guy sure looks like Rove Jr. I wonder if he was a cloning experiment? Now they can just throw him under the bus, and use him for spare parts.
Does anyone have a clip of this taking place? I’m considering becoming bulemic and need something to inspire me to barf on demand.
I didn’t find any clips from the Correspondent’s Associate Dinner but I did find this:

F*ckity-f*ck-f*ck-f*ck. 🙁 🙁 🙁
E-mail this AM from me to Sam:
Hey, Sam —
Don’t know what’s going on, but I have a strange feeling of deja vu, the way we had with Maron. Please let us know what we can do to support the show. Send a message and I’ll blog it if you want.
E-mail this PM from Sam (or the show) to me:
Your senses are acute. We’ll be making an announcement soon
brilliantatbreakfast , F*** B UT HE IS ON THE CURRENT LINE-UP, they lie even about that. :barf: :fu: AAR
A.I. then V.
NO!!!! Sam is all that’s left!
well….maybe that’s gonna be it…
what a waste. I hope to god Sam has other offers…even local would be good.
These Greens seem to have a goofy PBS sensibility. FUCK!!!
Well, that sucks. Not unexpected, but it still sucks.
apparently Cspan 3 has some kick ass hearings today. Mom is thrilled. Repugs tried to shut it down but failed
When Marc said he’d wouldn’t be on Sam’s show anymore, maybe
he meant he COULDN’T be on Sam’s show anymore…
What happened with Marc only makes sense if AAR is jerking Sam
around.
I must be nuts. Why don’t they make the Turds just an “ass”-terisk on the schedule and keep Sam? Or move the interminable Eco-Talk back to the weekend? Or (please) cut an hour out of Randi’s show! Or put Rachel in some bland and soothing time slot and return Sam to Majority Report hours? Are my tastes just so poor that I can’t appreciate the brilliance of Stephanie and Ed? I can’t be the only one who turns the radio off when they are on. Does AAR have a “no more comedians as hosts” rule now?
Just saw this post by Atrios:
I don’t really disagree with the counterproductive part (don’t think it’s counterproductive, so much as it’s a waste of time), but what’s the definition of “plenty,” and who the hell are they? I can see somebody liking one or two candidates, I suppose (personally, I like Edwards), but I don’t hear a lot of people saying, “damn, they’re all so good, I don’t know who the hell I’m gonna vote for.”
Does anyone have a clip of this taking place? I’m considering becoming bulemic and need something to inspire me to barf on demand.

Remember, gypsy, you wanted to see this.
The projectile vomiting will begin about 1:40 into the clip.

As an added bonus, Colin Mochrie proves that Canadians can’t beatbox for shit.
:rofl2:
Atrios, like Kos, is now an insider hack. They are going to be good soldiers and support whoever the nominee is on the “Any Democrat is better” doctrine that Randi uses. The problem is, I’m not so sure that Hillary IS better than any Republican.
It’s going to cost AAR my premium membership if they take Sammy away. Not that they seem to give a shit.

Meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
I couldn’t catch all of Sammy’s show, but judging from the posts is he officially out?
I don’t know that Hillary is better than any Republican, but she’s better than any Republican that’s likely to be their nominee in ’08, as far as I can see.
Unfortunately, it’s gonna take a lot of early money to win the national primary in February, which favors the DLC types (say what you want about fellow Syracuse homeboy Terry McAuliffe, but he knows how to raise the bucks). If the primaries were spread out, you could build some momentum and attract donors, but now, it’s pretty much win or lose on Feb 5th.
At the risk of being pelted by brickbats, I recommend that you go see “An Unreasonable Man”
(the Nader film) and consider the selection of the 2008 Democratic presidential nominee in light of that film. I fear that we will be
given a pro-war, pro-imperialist candidate and told we
have no where else to go. How do we get the change we need?
For the environment’s sake alone, we have to make a 180-degree turn soon!
The problem, Colette, is that Nader is no alternative. He’s a raging egomaniac who crawls out from under his rock every four years to make trouble. I’m not sure anyone can look at the last 6 years and say that a Gore presidency would have been exactly the same as what we have.
Yes, the Dems are owned by the same corporations and yes, change is necessary. But if there is a new party to be started, it has to be started at the local level. You don’t start at the top and work down. Nader may have the right message, but he is the wrong messenger.
Well, when we find out who the candidates are, then we can decide who to vote for. It doesn’t look like Nader will be trying for the Demcratic (or Republican) nomination. Maybe he’ll run as a 3rd-party candidate, but, let’s face it, he’s no Ross Perot (or John Anderson). Love him or loathe him, Nader has made himself irrelevant. He’ll be lucky if he ever gets 3% of the vote.
brilliant,
my point is just that the film provides a whole sweep of history from the 60s to the present time and there is much food for thought there about how politics have played out and about the modern Democratic party. I’m not opening up the Nader argument again!
Go and see it and think about what lessons this history holds for us, if any. One that came across loud and clear was to anticipate a backlash for any progressive successes (the Reagan/Bush years following the consumer advances of the 70s.) I learned that Jack Abramoff was smearing Nader back in the early
80s, either in that movie or something I read recently. It is amazing how many of the players have been the same for several decades now.
Even if we turn the tide, the fat cats are always scheming to turn it back. Progressives are naive.
Well, clearly, the way we elect people needs to change. Short of a violent revolution (and then who do you think will be running the show? The people with the guns), the only real way to do that is by working within the system. That sucks, it doesn’t work fast enough, and you know what? All these other goddamn people get to vote, too. Even the 30% who still seem to think that dubya is just freakin’ wonderful, Iraq is going great, God blesses ‘merica, and damn right you shoudn’t have no confounded death tax.
It’s all well and good to say the Democrats (at least the ones likely to get elected to anything) aren’t worthy of our votes. But then what?
Get third-party candidates elected to the school boards, the town councils, and county legislatures. Then you can work on the state legislatures, maybe even get a few congresspeople elected.
It’s not a quick fix, that’s for sure (even if it were to actually start happening today, I doubt I’d live long enough to see it actually come to fruition). Not an easy one, either. To think that there is a quick fix, is just, well, naive.
Jill, re Hightower…
Those minutes that he does everyday on Riley are OK and not indicative of his talent. I used to listen to his ABC show when the local played one of the two days and he was pretty good. He is from the Texas progressive school like Ann Richards and Molly Ivins and he has a lot of their edge. You have to be tough to do that down there.
He would not be a Seder or Maron but he would probably do a better show than the Turds, Hartmann, Schultz, Miller, Rhoads, (hey, I used to work at Miller and Rhoads), Maddow, and maybe Malloy. I think he might still be doing a local in Austin. I used to stream him 5 or 6 years ago when there was not much other than Pacifica and NPR to get me through.
As for Seder, it sounds like tomorrow might be an interesting show. I hope they have Sammy Cam ‘in effect’. If this is it I hope AAR has the class to let him do his show. I think he has too much class to be anything less than honest and if that threatens them we may just find him MIA Friday.
I suspect he is the Nova M acquisition Malloy was referring to. He does not carry the overhead a full-blown Maron show would and he could do the show from his upstate home.
pj,
That’s right. What is the fix? These struggles go on for decades and the common man has so little leverage. My 9-year-old and I discussed this after the film. Do you risk arrest and even death like MLK or
retreat to fight another day (as Nader does when he faces the police at the debates)? If you sacrifice for your beliefs and the media doesn’t cover it, does it make a difference? I thought about Rachel Corrie and Cindy Sheehan…how do you do something that really counts?
The right seem to have proved that having a detailed game plan and lots of money will work – at least for a while. The foundation for the mess we have now goes back at least to the 70s.
The other interesting thing is that every time I see a historical retrospective, I find out that lots of things happened when I thought I was paying attention that I didn’t know anything about.
Got a “Tomorrow on AAR” e-mail from AAR. No mention of Sam Seder whatsoever. RR, TH, YT, RM, but no SS.
No MoR? Not that I wake up to listen to his show anyway.
Oh, yeah, no MR. Forgot about him. 5 – 6 Eastern is a wee bit early for me.
They’re calling Rudy the “leading GOP candidate?”
Which one of his wives??

Yeah, I noticed that too. The timing is too damn perfect for it to be a coincidence. Bad enough that they may be taking Sam away, they have to compound it by sending out an e-mail and rubbing our noses in it.
:fu:
What was it Joe Lieberman said? Talking about pulling out of Iraq now that things are going so well “is like snatching victory from the jaws of progress?”
This is progress?
OK, guys, here is the e-mail I just sent to AAR. I sent it to the comments mailbox because I couldn’t find anything else:
**********
I hope this e-mail makes it to Mark Green’s and David Bernstein’s desks.
So it looks like Air America 2.0 is off to the same kind of rip-roaring start it had when someone had the brilliant idea to bring in Danny Goldberg, who promptly cancelled Morning Sedition, the best show on radio.
I have been a loyal Air America listener since noon on March 31, 2004, when Al Franken came on the air. I have been a premium customer since the premium service was offered. Before that, I paid for “affiliate” status. But I am growing increasingly disgusted with what is being done with Air America programming.
The knock on liberal talk radio before AAR was that it just wasn’t entertaining. People like Mario Cuomo had tried talk radio shows and were just too earnest. Then AAR took the daring step of allowing its on-air talent to actually be funny. From the brilliant Morning Sedition, a truly original effort that was never appreciated by the network, to the early Al Franken shows, to the comedy writings of Barry Lank for Randi Rhodes, to the matchup of Sam Seder and Janeane Garofalo, Air America showed that you could be progressive and entertaining; that you did not have to be what Marc Maron called “a progressive utopian with no sense of humor.”
We now know that no one who has stepped up to the plate to run Air America in the last three years has EVER appreciated what a wonderful and unique thing you had. First there was the treatment of Marc Maron — a difficult but original and brilliant talent who retains his fan base from Morning Sedition right to this day; a loyal fan base that has been waiting and hoping for a year now that new AAR management might appreciate him. Then it was firing Mike Malloy WHILE HE WAS DRIVINIG TO WORK. Now, based on reading between the lines on his radio show and the newsletter sent today, you are doing the same thing to Sam Seder. Seder is perhaps the radio novice who has grown the most into the job. He has gone from a sometimes uneven Majority Report to a funny, entertaining, and smart morning show, with regular callers that even include some conservatives.
Between the jettisoning of your best talent and the fact that your New York affiliate, WWRL, is unlistenable most of the day, I have to admit that the radios in my house that used to be tuned to Air America from “six past the hour” of 6:00 AM when Morning Sedition came on, till Mike Malloy went off the air or exhaustion kicked in, whichever came first are no longer. Now I download Sam Seder’s podcast and that’s about it.
Air America’s listeners are more than just eardrums to deliver to advertisers. We are a community that has developed a very real affection for the radio talent that Air America seems bound and determined to squander. I have been loyal up to this point, but I have to tell you — if Sam Seder is the next to get the boot, I’m done with you. And I am not alone.
I hope you will reconsider your programming priorities.

Hey, Jim Earl’s got a new gig:
There’s a new Marc Maron radio show?
Well done Jill!
wow…is there a new marc maron show?
:pup: well i can listen to my tupac cd from 9 till 12
:yippee: yay a “new” marc maron show!
Good for Jim though it seems like a weird stretch for him and the preview seems to indicate that we won’t be seeing or hearing him. You think :sammy: will get on at some point?
Jill, Brilliant. Let us know if you get any response to your ‘work ticket’. After the show tomorrow I may be plagiarizing your note heavily.
It still sucks…I have written to that address and I dont htink they are collecting the mail. According to msgtag they arent anyway, though it doesnt always work
Well, a 3-minute Internet show isn’t exactly HBO, but it’s a start. It would be great if the “new Marc Maron show” was a slip of a soon to be announced secret, but I reckon they were talking about the old (and only) Marc Maron Show.
Anybody try sgreen@airamerica.com?
I’ve just been too exhausted and stressed out the last few days to write a cogent letter. All I can think of involves lots of four-letter words.
Melina, I got a response that I c&p’d a couple of days ago, top o’ the morn…
Description of the Resolution:
March 26, 2007, 2:29 PM
Sam has not been dropped.
Regards,
Robert Drummond

http://www.airamerica.com/premium/
I suspect I may be contacting Mr. Drummond tomorrow.
pj, my only point, business and technology? Do you think Jim Earl? Poking fun, yeah! Can’t wait for the Remembrance.
Biz and Tech? Sure, funny is funny. Most of us tech people have warped and twisted senses of humor. If that doesn’t spell Jim Earl, nothing does.
I can’t wait for Ripped From the Deadlines: Mort Mortenson’s Mourning Remembrance. I’ll definitely purchase a copy. I’d be happy to hawk it here, no charge.
 i had dinner with my sister and my aunt today!
Plagiarize away, that’s why I posted it. Take the ideas, put it in your own words and run with it. And try mgreen@airamerica.com, not sgreen. Stephen Green is just the money guy.
Also dbernstein@airamerica.com , vp of programming.
Riley said this morning that Mark Green had some big
company shindig at his apartment last night and everyone was
there. Was Sam there?
No but Riley mentioned an old Morning Sedition live gig where he met a musician he respected who was a devoted MS listener.
:yippee: malloy! i suppose i will just have to take what i can get!
:paranoid: munchkins……
If this new programming guy is a real radio guy then the sudden dismissal is a usual thing. The slow farewell is pretty unusual and its been pretty incredible how much of it they have given to Maron.
I cant imagine that they are gonna fire Sam…but I couldnt imagine so many things that have happened.
Is there any way at all to capture the sammy cam if its on?
And is this the Pashman curse?
Im depressed.
I wrote a letter, but I expect that it will do no good.
poor Sam
:yippee: finally! the morons have talked som sense into themselves and decided to go to pittsburgh the way i want them to……
😳
