Happy Passover to everyone. I hope you had a pleasant Seder last evening, and another one tonight. Bit of bad news yesterday, as my mother-in-law broke both of her wrists. This unfortunately not only means that we’re having Easter dinner here, but also that I’ve been volunteered to cook it. So, I reckon I’ll have to figure out what to cook. None of these heathens seem to like ham, so I’ll have to come up with something else. A good excuse not to do my school work, I guess.
Firsty-first!
PJ, here’s how to do something completely subversive, yet delicious. Follow the advice of millions of Jews :omg: and make brisket.
And you don’t even have to fuss. Yes, you’re using some Frankenfood, but trust me, it works.
Buy a brisket. Take 2 large pieces of aluminum foil and criss-cross them. Lay the brisket on the foil and pour one evenlope of dry onion soup mix over it. Fold over the foil and wrap it into a tight package. Put it in the oven at either 300 degrees for three hours or 200 for nine hours. If the brisket is very large, you may have to cook it longer.
Unwrap, pour the juices into a container and put the container into the freezer to hasten the fat congealing. Cover the brisket and set it aside to settle.
Now make some roasted vegetables — new potatoes (white or red), carrots, bell pepper, eggplant, onions cut in quarters, whatever root veggies you want. Toss them with olive oil, garlic, and herbs and roast at 450 degrees for 1/2 hour, then add some sliced zucchini. Toss and roast another 15 minutes to an hour.
Slice the brisket across the grain. Cover and reheat in the microwave if necessary.
Serve with a salad and some nice artisan bread and you’re done!
brilliant- You’re making me hungry! π
Morning / Evening :yinyang:
This is the Bill Press Show, not sniff π sniff
I was at computer by 3:45am (almost on-time
Mario is cool I guess — I used to liked the Turks -kinda.
Then they got rid of Jill. I liked her, although towards the end I think she was superficial — prob for weekend :crap: show, Ben I NEVER liked — I think daddy bought show and he got rid of Jill, instead of himself eckkk. Cenk I like … he went to same school as me – but business school dept. SO HE WAS A rethug-of course he at that school – now changed to Dem – with the school Attitude (and not even a SF A.A.aka Arrogant Attitude )… :yippee: and it means HE ROCKS … but yucky Ben, who acts like a super conservative ‘SC type . (I like the idea of Overton (sp).) Here,There [the Turds], or (every)Where ?sniff

Sounds good, except I don’t trust the beef supply, and I don’t like lamb. I’m thinking more along the lines of Tilapia and/or Salmon.
brilliantatbreakfast, thx Brilliant — now I am starving β I haven’t been eating — since no time to cook — plus keep telling tooooo many that I DRINK TANKARDS OF TEA now w/ a bit of 1%milk (yum-not heavy and icky). Recently adding the liquid vitamins {can’t take pills since young – I GAG}. But you got me before tea — I think that is why hmmmm yum  MANY WILL BE HAPPY :rofl2: you made me hungry. π
A.I. then V…”Going Under … “…Go Ahead and Scream…Evanescence … Bring Me To Life…
Well, I finished in 54,550th place with my ESPN NCAA bracket. That might not sound too impressive, but, it was better than 98.1 percent of the entries. Of course, I get nothing.
pj- you get something . . . the satisfaction of being 54,550th!
pjsauter ,
I use to eat beef and Loved Lamb — now only fowl except at 1 – 2 rituals holidays, like Samhain, but usually that is Salmon.
A.I.then V. Everybody’s Fool …Evanescence…My Immortal…
Salmon or Crab at Winter Solstice but i do not like ways caught.sniff so all under consideration…

Lamb (to me) has a very nasty after-taste. Besides, lambs are so darn cute. Beef, I just don’t trust. It’s not that I don’t like it. And, yeah, I suppose I could go find the place where Bobby Kennedy gets his beef, but, well, it’s easier (and cheaper) to just avoid it. I could happily eat rice, veggies, and tofu everyday, personally (damn tofu’s kind of expensive, too).
Hey Druid!
In Sinapore there is a restaurant I always go to, the Red House, in the East Coast Highway, that has crabs the size of your head! Oooh, If Homer Simpson likes donuts, I like crab. A :40: goes well with the crab.
FRED — There were reasons  … I am trying to change my timings … since I am ALWAYS missing you and your posts ……My Timing Change is getting “nailed down” :rofl2: (before and so worth it, since it was for Marc now for Bill, but not the same and I am bored with him always gone.)
I am still with Mario; I must see Turds. {Cenk} I think I need the sarcasm.

A.I. then V. … Hello … Evanescence
… and chickens are cute.
OK. no they really aren’t. Ugly legs and beady eyes. I’m sure they have other endearing qualities. (not smell, of course)
Just ask Peter Griffin about chickens.
King Kong, oh very wise Kong …(or King π ) ,
I think chickens are cute !… thus is my guilt when I eat chickens … but as a child I had to watch the kill and I even feathered so I will only eat what I can kill — I cannot kill cow or lamb … chickens I want them to have THE BEST life… But I crave meat … which is sad and I so have tried to change. When Stressed I do not crave chocolate , although yum, I Crave Meat … when times I would try to change, my friend, in mountains, would give/I demanded sell me their eggs.

PJ, I’m sorry that your mother-in-law is hurt. Breaking both wrists sounds difficult to deal with. Can she pick anything up? Like say a fork?
As for getting stuck with cooking, my solution would be to order it already cooked It’s almost as good as going out to eat except that you have to do the dishes.
I guess she’s getting the
catsoops, casts put on today, so we’ll see. I don’t mind cooking. I do most of it anyway (such as we do around here, which hasn’t been much since the kid moved out).Woah, cats….it must be really bad.
PJ, amazing and wonderful things happen …when the kid moves out. Once you get used to it, having your home to yourselves is a comfortable experience.
Heh. Don’t tell anybody, but it took about three seconds for me to get used to it. To tell you the truth, the only difference for me, really, is that there’s no lump on couch in front of the teevee when I walk by it.
pjsauter , yes, thx Sue P for reminding me.
[I got into chickens :rofl2: ] forgot mother-in-law. eek
Your poor mother-in-law … I had breaks and a double compound fracture — wicked cool eek, since first I had to crawl up tiny(deer)path/one person path up side of creek-mountain side with arms, butt scoot , and one leg with other just hanging in air, after “carried” awww across creek.
BUT BOTH WRISTS…eek
Now PJ and Sue P, what are “cats” — I assume you are being funny for Cast[s], BUT :rofl2: when I hear Cats I think of :billcat: or CAT-SCANS … 8) neet brain pics  giggle

House Democrats leading the investigation of the firing of eight US Attorneys are questioning the legal strategy of a top Justice Department official.
Monica Goodling, who serves as liaison to the White House, hopes to avoid providing testimony ordered through a subpoena by invoking her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination.
snip
“We are concerned that several of the asserted grounds for refusing to testify do not satisfy the well-established bases for a proper invocation of the Fifth Amendment against self-incrimination,” the two Democrats on the Judiciary Committee wrote. “The Fifth Amendment privilege, under long-standing Supreme Court precedents, does not provide a reason to fail to appear to testify; the privilege must be invoked by the witness on a question-by-question basis.”
snip
Conyers and SΓΒ‘nchez said that Goodling’s concerns were not valid.
snip.
They were particularly critical of Goodling’s concerns about finding herself in a situation comparable to former White House staff members I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby and David Safavian, whom were both convicted of assorted crimes during the course of the Bush administration.
“Both of those individuals, former high-ranking officials in the Bush Administration, were found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by juries of their peers, in cases brought by Presidentially appointed U.S. Attorneys, of knowingly and intentionally lying or providing false information primarily to Executive branch agents or officials,” the two Democrats wrote. “If her testimony is truthful, she will have nothing to worry about in terms of a perjury prosecution.”

:slap: whatever stupid link doesnt work……
:fist: so raise your fist and march around!!!!!
Finally got around to reading Cenk’s piece in yesterday’s thread. If the Young Turds were half as funny on the air as that was to read, I would stop calling them the Young Turds.
I started taking a Toastmasters Speechcraft seminar last week at work. My new ambition is to read that piece and watch everyone’s eyes bug out.
:rofl2:
Be Afraid…..Be Very Afraid.
 i dont have a fico score will i be able to get a mortgage?
:paranoid: my credit report has two addresses i have never lived at listed
Sean you have to contact the reporting agency in writing to get those bogus addresses removed. Are you sure you don’t have a numerical score?
:sheep: sheeple?
yep no number only thing on my credit report is me owing 300 to an ambulance company that the guvmint was supposed to pay because i had to go in the ambulance due to a crime
I assume you have credit cards and such? If you want you can fax it to me and I can look at it.
 nope no credit cards i just like 2 seconds ago got me a platinum card with a 4000 dollar limit on it from my bank
i dont know much about credit and what-not i am debt paranoid but figure i better start looking into this stuff since i want to buy a house later this year
Like I say I can look at for you if you want. I deal with this stuff at the car lot all the time.
Sean, I just drove my credit a little more into the ditch buying a copy of “The Jerusalem Syndrome” because of you. It cost me $8.11 total and arrived in good shape. Now I don’t have to watch American Idol tonight.
FarmerKat, wherever you are, I got to watch the Giants opening day at my vacationing friends’ house today and will be going to tomorrow’s “Opening Night” and maybe 2 Dodger games this weekend. With AAR dying, I may just get back into MLB and Gigantes this year.
eh i cant print it up right now theres pretty much nothing on it though
No sweat.
Druid_666:
I liked your analysis of the Youngish Turks. Most of the time Ben acts like a boat anchor to the show. He obviously knows everything about movies but never engages in politics in the way that even Riley can.
Ben should read this post and make the big connection between Rethuglicanism, Hollywood, and fiction:

pj,
I hope your mother-in-law is OK. It sounds like one of those classical roller-blading accidents. I cringe thinking about it.
Well, I almost had a seamless transition with the internet connection in the move but the guy installing yesterday didn’t check something or other and they had to send another tech out to do something that could have been done at the office. But I’m up now! And I have 3 MB of line speed. Zoom ZOOM!
PJ, sorry to hear about your mom-in-law’s accident. Who gets to feed her at dinner??
:yippee: i got a replacement copy for my signed copy that got stolen from my truck in the mail the other day…… well according to my roommate anyway!
:dancers: :hubba: :barf: :fustrate: :boobs: :reaper:
yes it elicited all of those feelings at once……
Little bit of momentum for Edwards.
 re 54 jerusalem syndrome……
Sean, since Stephanie and even FatHeaddie use the Humps as bumpers, I was about to put that one up but I have not been able to view the whole thing yet.
Must be pretty popular.
