Holy Thursday, Batman! Today’s a big day, Christ-wise. I know, because it says so on Wikipedia. Being your basic fallen Catholic (frankly, I wasn’t really paying attention even before my fall from grace), I’m kind of vague on the whole thing, other than this is the first day of a four-day weekend, culminating in the most holy of holidays on Sunday (that, of course, being the beginning of the final season of the Sopranos on HBO). Bittersweet, to be sure. At least I can finally go back to doing all those things I didn’t actually give up doing for Lent. And wash these goddamn ashes off my forehead.

You’ll still hear Thom and Heidi, but now you’ll get Carl’s wit and wisdom backed up by years of progressive political activism and a quarter-of-a-century of stand-up comedy. Now that Carl is joining the Morning Show, we can begin airing “Thom Hartmann – Nationwide†live from the Portland flagship station 9am-to-Noon!
New Weekday Line-up Starting April 9th:
6am-9am KPOJ Mornings with Thom, Heidi and Carl
9am-12pm Thom Hartmann – Nationwide
Comment by Wanwenxia — April 4, 2007 @ 7:32 pm
Six straight hours of Thom Hartmann? Kill me, kill me now. Or at least wake me up.
But on the bright side, it sounds like we may get to keep Sam if KPOJ is blocking out three hours to carry his show.
:rant1: we never get to keep any good shows im worried! :paranoid:

It’s been a while for me too, but if I remember correctly, you’re supposed to hang out with a roomful of other guys and have a big meal, drink wine, and wash and massage each other’s feet. Then one of the guys gets paid to kiss you.
And if you think that sounds kinda homo-erotic, wait until the S&M session tomorrow. It’s Alberto Gonzales’ favorite day of the year. ((Mel Gibson’s, too.)

“Zeimer arrived at Fort Stewart on Dec. 18 after basic training and deployed to Iraq just a few weeks later. He missed the brigade’s intensive four-week mission rehearsal in October when more than 1,300 trainers and Iraqi role-players came to the post as part of the most realistic training program the Army offers for Iraq operations.
For anyone looking for a sign of the health of the Democratic Party going into the 2008 presidential campaign, it came Wednesday with the last of the fund-raising figures reported by the major presidential candidates.
With the $25 million reported by Senator Barack Obama’s campaign, closing in on Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s $26 million, the Democratic presidential candidates collectively outperformed the Republicans, and by a substantial amount: Democrats raised a total of about $78 million, compared with just over $51 million by their rivals, according to preliminary first-quarter figures provided by the campaigns.

Good Morning :joe:
Fred Phelps – Same Song, Different Clothes
Louis Theroux’s documentary about the Rev. Fred Phelps clan of Topeka, Kansas, “The Most Hated Family In America,†aired recently on the BBC and is available for free viewing on YouTube. The family has been protesting funerals of gays and AIDS victims for years, but they’ve gotten more publicity lately because they protest funerals of dead soldiers. Their logic is that soldiers deserve to die because they fight for a country that enables “fags,†thus the wrath of God has descended on them and they will justifiably burn in hell.

Morning Krista and Sue!
hey all…..
I sure hope that sammy is being kept for 3 hours at night…
Maybe the letters made a difference….?
why dont they give a couple of hours to this guy filling in for sam>?…? anything but Thommmmm for 6 hours!
At least I can podcast Sammy (who will again have to uproot his whole fanbase and web thing…at least they kept the whole “night” thing) in the morning so I wont be caught out with only Thommmm.
God, the music and the boringness….he is so smart but so very boring…my eyes start to tear and everything goes blurry and ….I usually have to pull over for a nap or a coffee…maybe some crystal meth, just to keep going.
its snowing here…PJ?…you got snow yet?
Hey Andy, you sure are chipper this morning.
My email to AAR about Sam’s show was pretty resigned to giving up on on them. I think that did it.
MEXICO CITY (AP)—A kinkajou, also known as a honey bear—that escaped from a Mexico City zoo boarded a bus and attacked a passenger, officials said Tuesday. The kinkajou, which is about the size of a small dog, got on the bus at about 11 p.m. Monday after escaping from the San Juan de Aragon Zoo.
The animal sat next to the bus driver for almost an hour as he drove through the city, and scratched and bit a 20-year-old female passenger when she tried to hold it, the Mexican news agency Notimex said.
There was some initial confusion about the animal’s identity. While Red Cross spokesman Jair Martinez initially identified the creature as a monkey, and some local media referred to it as a lemur, Aleli Mayorca of the city’s main Chapultepec Zoo said it was a “martucha,” or kinkajou, a nocturnal animal native to Central and South America.
The kinkajou is related to, but different from, the raccoon.
Martinez said the woman was treated for her injury, and the animal was placed in quarantine. He said he had no further details.
Hey Krista, It’s my day off and my neighbor wnts me to build him a computer which should net me a few hundred bucks, which should really help.
Using membership dues paid in part by federal tax dollars, the National Abstinence Education Association (NAEA) hired the Washington, DC, public relations firm, Creative Response Concepts, best known for the 2004 “Swift Boat Veterans” ads against John Kerry, to launch a public relations effort supporting the failed and unpopular abstinence only education policies.

Yep, snow on the ground (but just a dusting).
KPOJ replays Sam in the evening. That doesn’t mean he’s going to get an evening show on AAR. I wonder just what the deal is? I wonder if AAR was going to pull the plug on Sam and changed their minds? Hard to believe Sam and Dan were just setting everybody up for some sort of a prank last week.
So, are they just gonna play re-runs of Sam’s show?? Or is this just for his last week?
Is his show ending?
:hubba: :rofl2:
the bbc reporter looks like his head is going to explode
I Couldn’t watch it in one sitting.
Well, at least Janeane is going to be on tomorrow and it should be a Sammy Cam day. I missed the beginning of today’s show but it doesn’t sound like anything was revealed.
Sam spoke to Atrios and told him that they would talk next week.

Anti-rollover technology? What, like ballast? Or maybe an outrigger shoots out when you’re at the tipping point.
Oh, apparently it senses when you’re about to lose it, and applies the brakes to individual wheels. That’ll be nice when it screws up and keeps your right front brake on all the time. I like the outrigger idea better. Plus, you could maybe shove those pesky people who sit right next to you on the highway out of the way. Be good if you got pulled over, too. “You know why I pulled you over?” Whomp! “Oops, sorry officer, I accidentally pulled my emergency outrigger release!”
His hungry i helped put S.F. on the map as rebel artists’ haven
Presiding over the brick-walled basement club that became the prototype for countless others, Banducci gave voice to daring satirists including Mort Sahl, Tom Lehrer and Dick Gregory, all of whom made live recordings at the North Beach nightspot, giving it an international reach. The hungry i also played a crucial role in the careers of Lenny Bruce, Nichols & May, the Kingston Trio, Woody Allen, Barbra Streisand, the Limeliters, Bill Cosby, Jonathan Winters, Shelley Berman and many others who came up there.
Well, hooked up a Skype Gateway, and now I can use Skype (and Skype Out) from any phone in the house. Now, I just need to figure out where all the damn phones I used to have have gone to.

Asteroid and Galaxy
Credit: Robert Long
xplanation: Apollo class asteroid 2006 VV2 flashed past planet Earth n late March, approaching to within 3.4 million kilometers or about 8.8 times the Earth-Moon distance. Due to the proximity of its orbit to Earth and its estimated diameter of over 1 kilometer, 2006 VV2 is classified as a Potentially Hazardous Asteroid. Telescopes large and small were trained on the much anticipated flyby, the closest for a known asteroid of comparable size until the year 2036. This composite telescopic view is from a series of images recorded over a period of about an hour on Mar. 28 from Vado, New Mexico. The asteroid begins near the center of the field and tracks down and to the left, apparently passing very near galaxy M81. Of course, along with its companion galaxy M82 on the right, M81 is really 12 million light years away, compared to the asteroid’s range of a mere 15 light seconds.

The most infamous feud in American folklore, the long-running battle between the Hatfields and McCoys, may be partly explained by a rare, inherited disease that can lead to hair-trigger rage and violent outbursts.
Dozens of McCoy descendants apparently have the disease, which causes high blood pressure, racing hearts, severe headaches and too much adrenaline and other “fight or flight” stress hormones.

Billo got slammed, thanks Kevin!
I love to see Bill get spanked, thanks Kevin! :spank:
When I was in 2nd grade, I had Hatfield twins in my class. They seemed pretty mild mannered to me though they lost their daddy in a mine disaster that year.
Morning Sedition irregular Mick Foley on NPR’s :omg: Talk of the Nation this morning.
Talk of the Nation, April 5, 2007 · WrestleMania, the ultimate star-studded annual event of body slams, drew more than 80,000 to Detroit’s Ford Field Stadium last weekend. Guests discuss the business, the passion and the showmanship of professional wrestling.
Why doesn’t somebody shut off Billo’s mic? I heard a bit of TOTN today, but not Mick Foley. Too bad. I’d like to hear him twist a conservative into a pretzel.
I must say, this gateway I got really seems to work as advertised. It’ll do both Skype and SIP (hopefully at the same time, though I haven’t gotten around to playing with it yet). I bought a year of Skype out in January when it was on sale for $19.99 a year unlimited to the US and Canada, and have been using it to make all of my outgoing calls at home. Now I can just use a regular phone, and it works quite well (even with a few Sedition Radio users soaking up my upstream bandwidth). Now I just have to figure out who to call. I’m collecting the time and temperature numbers from around the country.
I Like Jeff Farias and his cool 8) zazz and 8) rock, but he can be boring if “dud” topics.
