The local AAR has already gone over to Lionel followed by Bill Press. No more turds.I made it to 45 minutes of Lionel which is 30 minutes more than I can listen to Randi- is this the meaning of ‘progressive’? 😯
Maybe Maron can fill on for Imus while he’s on his two-week vacation.

Maybe if Lionel doesn’t pan out, AAR can get Imus cheap. I will have cancelled my premium by then, so I won’t give a shit one way or the other anyway.

Yeah, I don’t much care what happens to them anymore. They’re obviously not interested in keeping their current listeners, but think they can get new listeners. Maybe they can, I don’t know. I’ll download Sam’s show on Sunday for as long as it lasts, and maybe he’ll be off to NovaM after that. Hartmann’s a good show to have on in the background. Sometimes he’s got some interesting stuff. Not sure about this codependency thing he’s got going on with the Ayn Rand institute, but what the hell.

The problem with AAR is that the people they think about least and last are the audience they have. I can understand wanting to attact a bigger audience, but AAR wants a new audience.

Yeah. The radio “experts” that like to post things always talk about ratings and clearances, and how it’s up to the individual affiliates to promote shows. I just think that’s bullshit. And the problem with the DG regime and now the Green party, is that they are incapable of recognizing a quality show, and unwilling to get out there and get it exposure.
When DG killed MS, it really bordered on criminal. I’m convinced that they show was on the verge of taking off, and had they done even a modicum of work in promoting it, I think it would have been the flagship show (if there is such a thing) for AAR. Certainly the show with the best chance of getting widespread syndication. All you need to do is look at the number of people who still come and visit here, after all this time, and where they come from. And most of us had to jump through hoops or get up in the middle of the night just to listen to it while it was on. Instead, it gets killed and replaced with a “news” show on a network that doesn’t have a news organization. Sorry, but no matter how good they are, hosts reading news off the Internet and blogs just can’t compete with something like NPR. And then the asshole “forgets” to renew the contract with WLIB.
Now the Greens kill Sam, almost immediately upon taking over. I just hope the Drobnys can make a go of NovaM.

Yeah Vern what’s got me worried is the LCD monitor and the ASUS P3-PH4 Micro case. Normally UPS never drops anything off if no ones home. Idon’t get it.
UPS has been doing that with my partners’ shipments. Just leaving them at the front door when there are plenty of places out of sight from the street. WTF!

I put together a computer for my stepson a couple years ago with one of those ASUS little baby cases. Nice, but kinda noisy. Also had to buy a different DVD drive, because the one I had was physically too big to clear the inner lip and shove the hinged front lid open.
We signed a thing so UPS would just drop stuff off, instead of screwing with a signature, but we have fairly sheltered front porch. I didn’t think they took it upon themselves to just dump stuff off, though.
I may have to check with UPS then. When I was living in Swarthmore mu UPS guy never left anything, but let me know where he’d be during the day so I could catch up to him. That was good because when I built my current computer the FX-51 alone was close to $800.00.

Im in a dejected mood today.
I was listeneing to Sammy’s yesterday show on podcast today while I was out and I just cant believe that they are cutting this show….
It is so freakin good…and its just gotten better….with NO promotion.
I had a fight today with my Mom because she likes Lionel…but she likes everyone! She likes Imus, fer christ’s sake….
So I told her it wasnt a good time to even try to talk to me about this. She always tries to defend Sam and Army to me and it pisses me off.
Im not much of a talk radio listener. Not like her at least…she listens to everything all the time, day and night….
I only care for these very smart social commentators who do alot of research…and hopefully are funny.
BTW, tell me again what the name of the fellow who filled in for Sammy the other week is…was he from wisconsin?

It was important because it was cutting edge and reaching into the internets…which are gonna figure prominently in the future of broadcasting, IMO….as soon as the 50 mile wireless thing is working, whole cities will be hooked up and players will have hundreds of presets onto webstreams….
Whoever is on the edge at that moment is gonna be big…terrestrial radio is gonna be an old folks medium before you know it.
My Mom kept saying that how could she ever get the stations in her little sony radio that she wears everywhere.
Its like my grandfather saying that he tells people to check his Google, because Google has done such a good job writing all those pages on him….

I don’t think terrestrial radio will go away. I think there will always be a use for it. Especially if the internet becomes less neutral. But if they figure out how to stream from an ipod…… :paranoid:
oh they will…ipod will go wireless and you will also be able to get your content through the air….actually the iphone is the first step in that….my laptop card also….I can stream from this subnotebook that I got from anywhere…unlimited data and surf the internet while I stream…and listen on bluetooth headphones….
It just has to get smaller…
The thing is that this subnotebook works on any wifi available or it dials verizon’s high speed network…
once the wifi is available in all cities for free its just a hop skip and jump to smaller players …cheap players….look how quickly these things have been developed so far.

I was looking at the iphones. That seems as close as anyone has gotten to an all in one thingy. I want one but I’m afraid to get the first generation of anything. But I might anyways. I need to be able to find an Ace hardware or whatever when I’m driving around in a part of town I’m not so familiar with. The phones with the internet connect aren’t very reliable or practical.
