Gee, everybody sure has their knickers in a knot over Alec Baldwin’s little voicemail to his daughter. Good thing nobody ever recorded some of the things my mom called me (not that I didn’t have it coming, of course). Anyway…
On Press the Meat, will it be all about saving mother earth today? Fuck no. It’s a mass murder kind of day, as Timmy Potatohead hosts Va Tech President Charles Stenger, plus HHS Secretary Michael Leavitt and Education Secretary Margaret Spellings, and retired VA State Police Superintendent Col. Gerald Massengill (I’ll refrain from douche jokes) and the rigid man himself, former DHS Secretary Tom Ridge. Then we’ll talk some Gonzo, Iraq, and SCOTUS at the roundtable, with Presidential Historian Doris Kearns Goodwin, Karl Rove’s rap partner, David Gregory, Newsweek Editor, Imus buddy, and war on Christmas warrior Jon Meacham and NBC News administration shill, Pete “Petey” Williams.
Over on CBS’s Faze the Nation, Bush Buddy Bobby Schieffer hosts Pat Leahy (to talk about what an impressive figure Alberto “VO5” Gonzales is, no doubt), and then Jim and Sarah Brady stop by to tell us what a great thing guns are (and Jim has the hole in his brain to prove it), plus former FBI profiler Gregg McCrary.
Over at Fux News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace gets a little action on the Va Tech tragedy with Virginia Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling (you can tell Fox is slipping when all they rate is a Lt. Gov.), plus GWU President Stephen Trachtenberg. Then it’s Chuck Schumer and – get this – somebody Fox lists as “Arlene Specter.” Oh, Arlen, I don’t think they love you anymore.
Over on the Goebbels network, George Snufalufagus is thrilled, just thrilled to have an EXCLUSIVE! with hypocrite, philanderer, and disgraced former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich. Then Curious George goes “On the Trail” with Democratic presidential “candidate” Chris Dodd. Finally, the Axis of Drivel is reunited, as Sam :omg: Donaldson, Cokie “the hag” Roberts and George :jerk: Will sit around the table to tut-tut, tsk-tsk, wink and nod.
Over at CNN, Wolf’s Late Emission consists of a bunch of people who couldn’t get a gig on a real network show, including an example of what’s the matter with Kansas, Sam Brownback, NY Times Bozo, Thomas “My Head is Flat” Friedman, asshole Lanny Davis, and a few other has-beens and never was(s).
Later, on 60 Minutes, you guessed it, we get some Va Tech action as Scott Pelley talks to the authors behind the Secret Service study of assassins, who compare their research to the characteristics of the Virginia Tech shooter, Lara Logan reports on bombs, shootings and long gas lines in Baghdad, and Anderson Cooper reports on how the hip-hop culture’s message not to cooperate with the police in any way has undermined efforts to solve murders across the country (hey, 60 Minutes, you couldn’t find anybody whiter than Anderson Cooper for that story?).
Earth Day? What Earth Day?
And of course at 9:00 eastern time, it’s number 3 of 9 in the final season of the Sopranos. And if anybody out there has Showtime, don’t forget to try and tape tonight’s Dexter for b@b.
Have a good Sunday.
Morning all! Well here’s WBC’s music video.
WASHINGTON What would the White House Correspondents Association dinner do for an encore on Saturday night in Washington following last year’s controversial Stephen Colbert routine? President Bush was back, but with impressionist Rich Little replacing the barbed satire of Colbert, and with the usual broad cast of celebrities — from Reggie Bush to Condi Rice.
President Bush said, “We’ve got to learn to laugh in this town,” but then instead of going into the usual jokes, surprised the crowd by saying, “I had looked forward to poking fun tonight but in light of this week’s tragedy at Virginia Tech, I decided not to try to be funny.â€
He just said thanks for dinner and introduced Rich Little, “a talented and good man.†Little later told E&P that Bush had informed him earlier that he would not be doing any jokes himself.
Actually, one of the funniest jokes was Karl Rove being seated at a New York Times table.

Parker started digging through Pentagon data, and the numbers he found shocked him. He learned that the Pentagon is giving fewer veterans disability benefits today than it was before the Iraq war — despite the fact that thousands of soldiers are leaving the military with serious injuries.
“It went from 102,000 and change in 2001… and now it’s down to 89,500,” says Parker. “It’s counterintuitive. Why are the number of disability retirees shrinking during wartime?

More Cho theory:
:tinfoil: The “Ismail Ax/Ax Ismail” reference may have referred to Ismail Abbas, an Iraqi boy who was severely injured in a nighttime rocket attack near Baghdad during the United States invasion of Iraq in 2003, during which two errant American missiles landed on his family’s home, killing his parents, his brother and 13 other members of his family, thus both of Ali’s arms had to be amputated (“Axed?”) and third-degree burns covered at least 35 percent of his body: he was 12 years old at the time.
For decades, Mississippi and neighboring states with large black populations and expanses of enduring poverty made steady progress in reducing infant death. But, in what health experts call an ominous portent, progress has stalled and in recent years the death rate has risen in Mississippi and several other states.
snip
To the shock of Mississippi officials, who in 2004 had seen the infant mortality rate — defined as deaths by the age of 1 year per thousand live births — fall to 9.7, the rate jumped sharply in 2005, to 11.4. The national average in 2003, the last year for which data have been compiled, was 6.9. Smaller rises also occurred in 2005 in Alabama, North Carolina, and Tennessee. Louisiana and South Carolina saw rises in 2004 and have not yet reported on 2005.
Whether the rises continue, federal officials say, rates have stagnated in the Deep South at levels well above the national average.
Most striking, here and throughout the country, is the large racial disparity. In Mississippi, infant deaths among blacks rose to 17 per thousand births in 2005 from 14.2 per thousand in 2004, while those among whites rose to 6.6 per thousand from 6.1. (The national average in 2003 was 5.7 for whites and 14.0 for blacks.)
snip
The main causes of infant death in poor Southern regions included premature and low-weight births; Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, which is linked to parental smoking and unsafe sleeping positions, as well as unknown causes; congenital defects; and, among poor black teenage mothers in particular, deaths from accidents and disease.

Thanks, pj. :bee: are to me like berts are to Colbert. I was going to ask for a cigar emo and I get a beemo.
Oh, and Andy, thanks for that very inspirational Sunday morning video. After watching the whole thing I had to look to make sure it wasn’t a joke. It doesn’t give it up for a little while. When it first came on I was thinking it might be CodePink.
Now I have to decide if I want to watch any of them or go to the store. There is a mandolin festival today and a big EarthDay shpw in the park. It rained all night but the sun is out now.
She turned me into a Newt may get me for a few minutes.

It depends on what the meaning of the word :bee: :bee:
Heh. I’m afraid I’d have to go about 1,000 miles to see the new arrival. I’m mostly an innocent bystander in the whole thing, anyway, having no DNA invested. I’m just a dead branch on the family tree. Da wife will be heading out there in a couple of weeks, I think. As soon as she trains the cats to shit outside.
Not sure if it is any of my :bee: swax and it may be common knowledge but where is the newborn?
She’s in Frankenland.

Hello everybody.
After watching the whole thing I had to look to make sure it wasn’t a joke.
Yeah Vern those are the “god hates fags” crowd in the video. Ask me why I don’t call myself a Christian anymore.
Just :bee: cause!
I see everyone is :bee: ing silly today. It reminds me of that classic episode of What’s Happening? when the Doo :bee: Brothers were guests, and Dwayne asked one of the band members:
“Which Doo :bee: YOU :bee: ?”

She looks kinda like my Uncle Ed (and my grandfather), at least from the eyebrows up. Lotsa cue balls on that side of the family. Mine’s gettin’ kinda white, ever since I got married, but at least it’s still planted.

Aw PJ…so cute…they are so sweet and young. I was trying to post form the car and cant remember what I said but maybe it will show up….something about how she smells good and is so sweet now but in a second she will realize who is boss and make their lives hall…but then, thats why this birthin’ thing is for the young….they have stamina!
Give granny a squeeze for me grandpa! tell her I say Congrats…you two are way too young to be grandparents…but, oh well…there you go…
In sad news I just found out that a local friend/acquaintance/Mom fromkarate died of leukemia….she had 3 small girls and had lost her husband to cancer or something in ’01…then married a fireman friend of mine…and was suddenly so sick…for just 8 months or so…I was pretty sure it was over from what I had heard in the past few weeks…but its still just so sad.
Seems like alot of people get cancer around here…
Now this 50-ish fireman has these 3 young girls…the youngest one must be around 8 by now…
He is a good guy but he just got his own daughter from before into college….She picked the right person though because he is so devoted and responsible…
she was a kickboxer, nutritionist, and so healthy…young and beautiful…this is her modeling book…I guess she was a body model too.
its incredible how fleeting life is.
I used to be so jealous of her stomach…but then, I had long legs, and hers were short…seems pretty silly now….
I helped her get a Boston Terrier from the same woman that I got Lola from…she loved Lola…and just a few weeks later got one and named her Coco.
Anyway, we weren’t great friends or anything though I was close with her new husband from when we just moved here…he was the first friend I made …when Will was just a toddler…and he kept reindeer until recently when she got sick and he didn’t have the time….I really liked those reindeer…

Sorry about your friend Melina, that’s what took my aunt a couple of years ago. She was gone a week after the diagnosis.
Melina, Yes, life is fleeting (in book, but well spoken :rofl2: )I use to ONLY believe in having a baby on or before 35 … but recently, especially since Christians are “Purposely” having more Children to weigh “The Scales” in the Christan direction.
Now, after seeing many Grandparents taking over raising their “Grandchildren”. I would rather have a grand parent/ or parents or older people but with “hearts” of gold for a few years (hopefully 5 to 7 years at least) than be raised by rethug twits being brainwashed in those huge Christan Churches… As an example, the young die young and many times leave their Children alone. So what is the difference if an older person dies and leaves them with tons of “LOVE and tons of footage of what parent/parents” did with them before they pass.
MANY CHILDREN N E E D PARENTS NOW whomever the parent(s) … are … Les or Hom 😉 or Stra
To sound mushy, LOVE  is the SOLE Key

Well, I dont think much about the old parent thing.,..I had Will when I was 34, so Im sorta old for a parent…but then, I dont think I could have done any sort of good job earlier. I dont know how people do it that young, really.
I think that foster parenting is great if one has the energy…
Ive got Ben now, so Im sort of full…
Pam’s kids are very lucky to have Ralph…he is a standup guy who will definitley take care of them however she wanted it to be. Its funny because he was the one who always was goign on about how he was goign to have a vasectomy because his one kid was too much and the ex had gotten him into it it…but his daughter is the light of his life and he is so close with her….
He was the one who would NEVER want any more kids!!…and here he is with 3…like he protested to much and some comical god sent him 3 more just to get him back for all the whining!
oh anyway…Im goning ot go and lay down…Ive been running round all day and doign outside work too much.
kristaP here is a new dog med that is like Clomacalm…but maybe more tolerable or whatever…they report this as if there was no other med in the world for anxious dogs….clomacalm was the first drug approved for OCD in children, so its been around a very long time….
Anyway, its good to know that there is another one out there for dogs who have problems….
and then apparently Nova M has a youtube group with video from the party last week…for Krista! Im sure youve seen this…but just in case
Melina, I also think “We The People” pollute this environment so bad W.T.P. are causing many to get weird cancers and tumors.
I knew and worked on campaigns to stop and my young friend has asthma. I feel MOST MY AGE were :jerk: s for not doing something about THE POLLUTION … which I protested with many in 70’s and 80’s saying WE are polluting OUR CHILDREN. It Makes me cry. 🙁
Now a great LARGER percentage of the young and of the elder , has Asthma. ALL MUST CHANGE THE PARADIGM NOW!
a.i.v. By The Way … Red :hot: C. P.
That is what is sad … she was just too healthy with a good hubby and children to be gone.
that is why I say in a Blink of the Eye … days can go by or one can die. Embrace the ones you love before living that door. 😉
has everybody seen the google today?
they have a special earthday logo — a melting sinking google iceberg.
I have seen MANY Grandparents taking care. I have also seen many gays and les and straights take Children including me taking in a child of a Meth Mom , whose mother had her awake and on a porch at 3:30am. I took her in, but would not let the addicts in, but dealing with the mother for the child I was able to keep her safer until I was able to find her family and get her IN SCHOOL, for the first time in school. And I believe I am older than you. And the grand parents I have dealt with are way older than I am. And they are wonderful.

I went up to my second open mic and I did pretty good! Even did some Virginia Tech kinda jokes! But yeah… my second time going up and my first time with these jokes!
And I got a ride home from Brendan McGowan who’s a very funny comic and he said that I did pretty good (or really good, I forget and then minimize) for my second time up in what apparently was a bad room (it’s the only room I’ve performed in and have purposely NOT brought friends nor family to).
WOO-HOO!!!
I’m really fucking psyched. It was my riskier material (which I knew was better than the other shit I used) about black people and Montana and it went SO much better than the last time (which didn’t go terribly)… DUDE! I’m so fucking happy. Spent today watching HBO special footage on Maron’s site and then two Richard Pryor specials and then went to an open mic where I talked to other adults (I live in a fucking dorm for fuck’s sake) who are very funny and very gutsy and they paid attention to me and I had good conversations and good compliments and…
