repost from old thread (new thread is up early. pj must be up celebrating!):
oh no, blog died again!
i was “goth†in highschool, tho it wasn’t called that then. a “beatnik†even tho beat was over and hippy hadn’t yet started.
dyed my hair black at 15, continued til 20 or 21. goth, punk, whatever, makes perfect sense to me. i like teenagers who reject social norms with extreme dress. generally smarter and more sensitive that the rest. it also puts one outside of the usual adolescent social competitions by making it clear that these games are rejected altogether.
 where did marc live in ny?
😯 oh no theres beatniks on the blog……
we need a beatnik emo.
i seem to remember: Astoria in Queens.
damn seanie i just went back & checked your “blue hair” link. i was just thinking about that show…spooky!

Good morning…I think Marc lived in astoria Queens…isnt that across the 59th st bridge?…I had a friend in the film biz who bought an apartment there before it gentrified….a nice place.
Rox- I agree…I came out of punk and country western punk and all that, but he is only 13 and isnt yet to the point where he can deal with the feedback that he will get…believe me, the haircut was problem eno0ugh at his school.
When he is 15 or 16 we will see…but for now, I would have to buy him hair dye and all…of he showed any real drive towards this besides whining I might reconsider, but he seems to want me to do it for him.
Same thing with the concert. If he is not to the point where he can figure out the venue and how to buy tickets…if I am supposed ot arrange the whole thing…then he is not ready yet.
I think PJ has to finish his paper….its really crunch time now. He is almost totally free (whatever that means)….
Steph is doing OK…she is made for TV. I wish I liked her better. Maybe I could get used to her…I dunno.
BELTANE is MAY DAY

PJ, andy and all my tech friends out there…and non tech…drivers hwo live in their cars…Dash is doing a test program of their new GPS and you can sign up here to see if they want you to be a tester…could be fun….but I love that sorta stuff….might give us something to write about on Tech sedition!!…which I am planning on writing on as soon as I finish this huge pile o’ crap…..
PJ, if you’re around…do you like the slingbox? It seems to be only for basic cable and not premium channels….can more than one computer access the signal at once? Like could I try to sign on to yours? (or could Ben, if he decides to board at the school up here, sign on to mine if Im signed on to it form somewhere else?)
—-wrong, wrong, wrong — i just looked it up. weird is from the Weird or Wyrd Sisters who controled human destiny or fate.
—hmmm, pretty weird!
—-yeah melina, you’re right. if he’s asking your permission, he’s probably too young. wait til he comes home from his future girlfriend’s house with the dye job / haircut she gave him. or he and a friend get together and pierce each other’s ears.
—my damn cable co. screwed up the feed yesterday so steph & the moogs were very intermittant on the recording. i wonder if they put 3 hr shows on youtube? unlikely. they looked & sounded great tho. i bet they get the job. i hope so – something to record overnight in addition to comedy central.
beemer’s been around for a while
Looks like the early mid-morning fallow period. Everyone must be watching Stephanie Miller.
This could almost be your beatnick emo :rabbi: . Kind of a Peter Yarrow effect.

Infamous? …. Perhaps in some mathematical circles. What’s a mathematical circle? Is there any other kind?
I have NEVER Dyed My Hair, but my mostly background “dress” is black with, at times a colour accent.
Wore leashes and chains and metal symbolizing “bondage” from the Government in many ways in mid teens and beyond.
But in truth I was more of a Stevie Nicks — which I was called “Stevie” at college — WHEN SHE CAME TO BE KNOWN. But I was that way for my whole life. Leather and Victorian or Irish Lace. That is only just a touch but enough.
Dressed in Black with Proper Accents and anglo-saxon hair looks :hubba:
I had piercings at early 16 (at birthday without my mothers okay), careful it maybe 13 or 14 nowadays.
I did not get “tat” until I turned 50 … 4″ ish black dragon surrounded by a yellow/gold line to symbolize a yellow/gold aura symbolizing that for some in black does not mean evil. When in 1/2 Lotus it is near ankle BELOW mid-calf to focus on when meditating.
EX: priests where black, Johnny Cash as making an “artist” statement.
And I Have NEVER heard of Country-Western Punk IN MY LIFE.
Punks and Rockers Laugh at Country-Western. Usually they are doing a “parody”.

Anybody catch Drudge on the radio Sunday night? I thought not, its like listening to a painful itch. Anyway, paraphrasing, he said “They made Tenet to look like a ghoul. All that was missing was a little bit of drudge, I mean blood, coming out of the corner of his mouth”.
Drudge always reminds you who the real ghoul is.
Morning all. Well I have an appointment with a grant writer Friday morning to see about getting some loot to replace the computers at the afterschool program. Now I’ve got to decide if I’ll build them or just buy some Dell’s or Gateways.
Been listening to the Turks this morning and AAR is running lionel ads. The guy kinda sounds like the Grand Nagus but without the humor.
Melina, the only reason why I am telling you about a bit of me is to have another example or reference — that is one of the ways I work sometimes. But I forgot that the sun was rising and people were awaking. :smack:
ROXIE,
There is the “circle. Notice the second spelling of “weird” aka Wyre.
You had said weir. weir is also known as Wyre which is in England and The Druids and The Forests and whatever … but I have to stop … ex: I should be exercising but … I need to speak more of the Circle.
All has the ley lines of the extreme circle. so
YOU Did Not say WyrD. The Fates … and that is ONLY “the tip ” of the “trilogies”. Weavers of Time (ONE and ONLY one of the Many Zillion Names ) … ROXIE You “WYRD” Sis 😉

Dru- Jason and the scorchers doing Ring of Fire on Bobby and Pap’s show is an example of cow-punk or alternative country as we called it back at the time.
38 poultry farms in Indiana given tainted feed
But hey…it’s low risk!
WASHINGTON – The U.S. government said on Monday 38 poultry farms in Indiana were given contaminated feed containing melamine in early February, with some of the animals likely to have entered the food supply.
Good Morning :joe:
Yes Kevin! I’m talking smurf blue or Marg Simpson blue, not ole lady blue. Roxie’s right, if Will is gonna dye his hair he’ll just do it. My first dye job was pumpkin orange and when I was horrified by it(it didn’t help I was wearing an old pink sweatshirt) I thought I could make it better by dying the tips black. :smack: I had to go to the hairdresser the next day.
I must be out of it. I’ve never heard of alternative country. To me that was always bluegrass.
Web, because the AAR affiliate here is so inconsistent on weekends and replay their GLBT show on Sunday nights (not that there is anything wrong with that), I usually do have Drunge on my kitchen radio to hear as I drift in and out on Sundays but not this week. It is always a good read on the talking points to come and I wanted to hear his spin on Tenet.
No, Dr666, not all punks and rockers made fun of C&W. Some of the best ‘punk’ music was Country. Several punks of great renown ended up mining the Country vein. Maron favorite Alejandro Escovedo came out of the seminal SF punk band The Nuns. Americana legend Dave Alvin came out of Downey with punk favorites, The Blasters and replaced Billy Zoom for a while in X and still works with X mates in the Knitters. The great SoCal punk label Epitaph has recently been label home to Merle Haggard. I could go on and on and on.
Andy, thats great!! Be sure to let me know what you find out. I was gonna bring all my info there when Marc was gonna perform next week…now I have to see what goes on with the baby birds…though I should be able to come still.
I am still writing the incorporation of my thing for Ben but I am gonna call it something like Tools for Life, so its wide enough to give grants for the tools…but it may not be in time for what you have to do. The thing is that the computer comapnies should be willing to work with a fund …as in pass on some sort of writeoff models or whatever and match some grant that you could get. Its all a write off for folks with money…they need writeoffs…especially large corporations…and there are actually people who do this job of matching money with the needy…incredible!
You just have to know how to look for it, I guess.
I have a grant writing for dummies book…but I wrote a grant request without it and it went over pretty well. The thing is that one was really specific to one child…and to make a whole fund it should be wide, lest one end up trapped in one plan.
Anyway, please share info you get…and let me know if I can help with the writign…I am working on bylaws and that nonsense….
I may have a bunch of grant requests somewhere here that my father wrote for his documentaries…he actually got the guitar one funded! Maybe I will mail him and ask him to send me some so I can use the format…its pretty standard I think. If you google it you might get some good examples…also look at the grant writing books used on amazon…I will see if I can find mine but am running now.
Oh, yeah, Malloy always finishes the week playing Drivin n’ Cryin’s Straight to Hell and bids adieu to Kevin Kinney, wherever he is.

Thanks Vern…i was wondering when you would jump on that!…Im too addled today to pull all those references out of my…um…mind, adn whats left of it. I am so tired and maybe have allergies….
Have to get moving here….
Andy- i think its worthwhile to meet with the grantwriter…didnt want you to think that I think you can do it yourself…this person will have lots of good inside information for your area and specifics for you.
This is a good thing to learn because it may just be what to do in the future….what are we gonna do if the educational system keeps going down? There will be no hope if we dont all help these kids…the repubs are relying on keeping everyone dumb and poor so they can reinstate the monarchy. We need to empower kids now so that they dont just lay down and let the steamroller roll over them!
Dru, and you must check out gram parsons who is the father (along with the byrds, I suppose) of mining the country music canon for fantastic material….gram-byrds-rollingstones…Wild Horses was written about and for Gram….and he found Emmylous Harris…
too bad he died so young…drugs.
Andy, BTW, yew have a problem with Bluegrass?
vernon , Bloody Hell, you were next.
I should have written unless Vernon sees. I :smack: thought it. I knew YOU would know 🙄 if there were Country PunkRock whatever 🙄 But I only know the reality around me.

Try not to be too disappointed.

No. I like bluegrass, that’s REAL country music.

I listened, very briefly, to Army and Greenbean this morning. It’s the show that’s on AAR in NYC from 6-9. It’s bad.
Today, Army, was insisting that NJ Gov. Corzine resign because the accident has “changed him and thus he is no longer fit to serve.”
Following this logic, Bush has changed too. The war, the polls, the scandals have all taken their toll. And, of course, he’s not compassionate, conservative nor uniting as he said he was during the campaign.. Therefore he should resign.
I was hoping for Back To School!
I’ve done a little reliving in the last few weeks. I wish the wayback machine could take us back to some Kinison/Maron sessions.
Amid growing revelations that suppliers in China frequently spike pet food and other food ingredients with contaminants to boost profits, momentum is building in Washington to bolster the Food and Drug Administration’s capacity to detect and screen out adulterated imports.
Several Chinese suppliers conceded over the weekend that adding melamine to pet food ingredients — now blamed for the deaths of many animals in the United States and possible contamination of the human food supply — is but the latest technique for fooling U.S. companies into thinking they are purchasing a high-quality product.
Suppliers in China have admitted to adding melamine to animal feed. The FDA is trying to screen out the additive, which is now blamed
Before melamine there was urea, Chinese traders said — another nitrogen-rich chemical that was used to give false high scores on tests of protein content but was abandoned after it made animals ill.

Andy, its probably better that Marc’s show moved because Ill have something to show you (hopefully) by then end of the month…and I might just take a trip anyway because it seems like there is alot ot do there according to my friends…Tut and carriage ride through the city being 2 things I’d like to do…also the availability of my veyr favorite hotel that I have precious points for helps…and I grow more points if I pay on my starwoods card and so the world goes round…though it depends on their availability….but see it really has little to do with a show or tut or whatever…but all those little things work together to make it a good excuse to go…hell, if I can somehow squeeze some fund/grant work into it, then Ill be really happy!….especially if there is a way to help your kids from my end…though I havent got my funding yet, and its all ever changing, so I stand poised to take a personal loan to put Ben into school…because I cant leave him where he is…just cant…
So I should take the numbers with me today and call the hotels and stuff…I never got tickets to a show…but I will figure it out.Am actually more concerned with availability of Tut. One of my bird friends says that its fantastic.
You might also write up a grant or request letter to the museum to let the kids come in free!

“This guy’s the champion,†said Patricia Brennan, a behavioral ecologist, leaning over the nether regions of a duck — a Meller’s duck from Madagascar, to be specific — and carefully coaxing out his phallus.
The duck was quietly resting upside-down against the stomach of Ian Gereg, an aviculturist here at the Livingston Ripley Waterfowl Sanctuary. Dr. Brennan, a post-doctoral researcher at Yale University and the University of Sheffield, visits the sanctuary every two weeks to measure the phalluses of six species of ducks.
When she first visited in January, the phalluses were the size of rice grains. Now many of them are growing rapidly. The champion phallus from this Meller’s duck is a long, spiraling tentacle. Some ducks grow phalluses as long as their entire body. In the fall, the genitalia will disappear, only to reappear next spring.

In Bush speak… mission accomplished —-> Price of oil is over $40.00 a barrel.
One bad thing is that the domestic oil companies are pumping like mad and are beginning to see the bottom of the well. I think we are up to almost 80% of our oil having to be imported . When the Arabs turned it off in the 70s it was only like 15% :reaper: :reaper:

he predicts that both W and Cheney will be forced to resign before 2008 is over.
You know, in 1993 very few people thought that Nixon would be forced to resign within a year, but it happened. When the snowball starts rolling down the hill, the damndest things start happening. :sammy:

I couldn’t get into the meeting with Sestak on the FAA’s plans to reroute air traffic over Delaware county. The good news is I couldn’t get in becuase so many people showed up there was no room, there were a couple of hundred outside.
I saw Rachel during a live broadcast last Friday. She seems a bit more compelling in front of an audience than on the radio. Also cool as a cucumber as nothing seems to phase her. Kent Jones was also good, but no Lawton or Angus unfortunately.
