Haven’t really been around the news or the computer in the past few days, so I have no idea what’s going on. My guess is that it’s the same old shit that’s always going on. Anyhow, for those of use who aren’t in the Seattle area, here’s a little taste….
Thanks for Marc

I think the people who are so paranoid about the border security and this immigration issue may be even more dismayed when they are told that terrorist attacks are going to become like Hurricanes and Tornadoes and this immigration issue is going to put the Anglo Americans in the same position as the American indian was a hundred and fifty years ago as they looked in dismay at the flood of Anglos headed west. :reaper: :reaper:

Eviction Notice Is Latest Russian Move Against Journalists
James Hill for The New York Times
A corridor in the offices of the Russian Union of Journalists in Moscow. The group said it would resist a government eviction notice.
By C. J. CHIVERS
Published: May 19, 2007
MOSCOW, May 18 — The largest society of independent journalists in Russia, long critical of the Kremlin’s curtailment of the independent news media, defied a government eviction notice on Friday, saying it would try to remain in its offices in spite of state pressure.
The refusal by the society, the Russian Union of Journalists, to follow the government’s order punctuated a day of resistance to a fresh round of crackdowns on the independent news media here.
All four of the radio correspondents for the Russian News Service, a network that provides broadcasts heard at the top of every hour on radio stations across the country, have announced their resignations to protest new network policies that censor news and require the dissemination of pro-Kremlin material.

It was warm yesterday, Fred. But since I have a pool, I didn’t notice it! 8)
I know a couple of people who have family in the Ukraine .. They say that “democracy” in the ex Soviet Union became neocon unfettered capitalism and the people have just hated it. Putin is slowly going back to unfettered socialism.. A lot of the media in Russia is owned by the likes of Mr. Murdock so seeing that they are being kicked out has to be interpreted in the proper light . :omg: 😮 😯
T :joe: Cheers … Kristapea … how’s the heat :hot: 😉
a.i.v. whatever 🙄
Well … I spent an hour getting soaking wet trying to get all my sprinkler heads working last night .. .. must be nice to have all the water you need .. Does the new house have air conditioning ??
You know, we didn’t used to hit 100 degrees in May generally. But it happens every year now, it seems. Maybe we should all keep weather journals for our respective areas here on the blog and we can track global warming in the coming years.
I have both, AC and swamp(evaporative cooler). Swamp is way cheaper to run than AC but doesn’t work for shit when it starts getting humid.
So, I met Marc last night. He seemed in good spirits- I certainly had my share :40:
He gave me copies of his CDs for free, which is great because I haven’t heard them yet.
And I guess Mishna’s not here in Seattle, so I’m thinkin’ that means more of Gypsy’s cookies are for me.
Oh, and what else happened? Maron’s convinced me never to look at online porn again, that’s what. :boobs:
What did Marc say to change your ways, Travis?
I just lost the bloody post since going around One-Eye-Jack (who has been missing for the 2 nights, when he snuck out. :dancers:
(grrr)
I do not EVER trust Murdock, so I should not totally FREAK………
certain forms of socialism is 8) Cool., I think ie … Universal Health Care for ALL AGES … I feel sad and angry for the homeless, the not so young folk. … A.I.V.
Most of the newer houses around here have central mechanical air conditioning combined into the furnace .. Most of the older houses have no ac at all. I don’t know anyone in a house and only a couple who live in house trailers who use evaporative coolers. It typically gets cool at night so you can open up the house in the early morning and let it cool off.
This time of year the weather oscillates between pseudo summer and pseudo winter until in the middle of June it becomes summer. :hot:
THX, I was sppose to check but i always forget — since I am always running behind since not enough Time 24/7, but I furgot re sudo … 😉 :rofl2:
😮 Why, Travis … :boobs: Why? No :hubba: ? A.I.V.
The weather in NYC and Long Island has been weird. The winter was much warmer than usual, the spring much colder. Two days ago I wore sandals, today I’m wearing corduroy.
Lots more flooding in the last 5 or so years in Brooklyn. The tides are higher and more frequently breach the seawall and flood the ends of the streets. On Long Island, the shore is eroding and high tide reaches further inland than before. It also tops the dunes now and floods the roads.
But, heck, Halleburton’s doing well. I’m sure Cheney is only worried about the weather in DuBai.
One has to wonder about all those people who moved to south Florida from the north east.. If some of the global warming projections are correct they will be under 30 feet of water in 50 years. 😮 :reaper: :reaper:
I saw this model showing that the ice caps melting won’t raise the sea levels uniformly but that you get ( already have) a bulge around the equator and it it slowly moves north and south from there. The people in South America and Africa will be the first to see its effects. There are some islands along the equator that have disappeared already. It was likened to being on the Titanic watching it sink. :reaper: :reaper:
What? No Mishna? Wahhhhh! Unless she had to stay home to care for the cats. I can handle that… (Or she had a gig elsewhere or something.) But, Travis, I gotta warn ya, there are only 18 cookies. The recipe is for a drop brownie. So 18 is going to be plenty. But it’s not the abundance of riches you may be envisioning.
I’ll share the recipe as soon as I remember what it was. LOL! I kind of made it up as I went along. They worked, though.
Okay, coffee, shower, finish packing, and outta here. I wish I could bring all of you with us, though. 🙁
But I can’t stay sad when I’m heading for The Funny. :yippee:
Also my California … and possibly ME eek
(First, I “clinically died numerous times when younger and I believe one can die in a blink of the eye … but my great aunt died at 104, my grandfather in late ’90s (after falling off a 3 story home., which he was fixing roof — then lived in a home for a year plus after the fall) — BUT now the air quality and the environment are horridly bad so everything is in question. Ah, the Time of Chaos. …A>I>V> NOW!
Isnt it crazy Sue?…its just more of my original worry that cobble Hill by the BQE and places like where you live are gonna be under water in fewer years that we think…
When my best energy goes towards getting a good pump with an auto shutoff so I can run it all night (and they are nearly impossible to get because the manufacturer is out of them and cant get em fast enough) and the water is shooting directly up from inside the boulder that this unfortunate cottage is built on…well…I sure hope Gore runs…I guess that anyone who gets in will make him the one in charge of this right away….Its so urgent. What they were saying last year that used be gonna happen in a 30 yr time fram is suddenlu down to like…maybe 10, will be the cutoff point of too late!
Its freakin cold….
Did PJ ever turn up??
22  some islands have already diappeared  🙁 …
:fustrate: A>I>V> NOW!
well, I guess he did because he did the clip at the front…but…pj, where are you? Did sean find you?
Dru, what seems to be happening here is that the whole water table is higher. Some years its the ice that pushes the water up or whatever…but the guys who have lived here their whole lives…the firemen up the street who Im friendly with…they have never seen anything like this….from the wind storms to the ice storms to the water in everyone’s basements and the lakes and streams washing out roads…its so crazy even just here.
My cousin is down from cape cod to exhibit at an art show at a museum in greenwich this weekend, and it was so bad yesterday on the cape that she couldnt even get off…
the huge storm is stalled off the coast all the way to maine and we should expect lots more flooding all weekend. I havent even looked today because I have a sore throat and I dont have the stomach to do that flood thing again
Though it wasnt so bad last night that it woke me up….
Im sure it will be 96 degrees next week…and 90% humidity….
so many mosquitos and ticks and…tons of young deer crossing the road suddenly….
and coyotes coming down into towns….
Maybe its a cycle, and it always sort of iffy round here as to what the weather is gonna be like…but in my lifetime it has changed drastically in the amounts of snow vs. rain and when the heat hits….
2009 is when toyota and Chryselr come out with their revolutionary new fuel cells…and Im sure that they are all preparing for the inevitable new laws that will allow them to be as close to the cutting edge as possible. It may be a matter of just replacing this or that…but I definitly need a hybrid that is really a hybrid (unlike the toyota suv one which is bullshit for this sorta driving and this country…)
they were saying that within 30 years Boston Harbor and lower Manhattan (so also lower brooklyn etc…) will be under water….
As long as all of you Maronites are converging on Seattle, I suggest that you might want to check out some Copper River salmon from Alaska which comes into season every year around my b’day (as do softshell crabs! :yippee: ). It is not cheap but it sure is good. There is a restaurant up there I always loved called Etta’s Seafood but then again there are many. This bakery place is pretty awesome, too. Duke’s or Chandler’s down at Lake Union might be more convenient to the U-District. There is a Hooters there but it sounds like that does not matter anymore after last night. I hear they have great wings. And not far from the club is the Sunlight Cafe. I am not a veg but I had a great brunch there on a Saturday.
I’m guessing you won’t starve.
PJ…I need to know how to go about capturing the video feed for Replay AV of Sammy…..do you have the address or at least tell me how to set it up so that when he publishes the stream address on the blog I can just plug it in….meantime, Im gonna set up a regular replay.
And is RoF in its new slot today?…isnt it 3-6?
anyone know?
oooh…vern…that sounds good….now Im hungry!
only a zillion miles away from that place….
Gypsy

Right now at the top on the left under Community Matters. On the audio drop down under ‘Hear It Now-Community Matters’. Maybe that will work.
thanks vern…I found it…
I still cant seem to get the right stream address for Malloy, even though I think it was right, my replay didnt save it…but it did save Rachel…so the replay is set up right…I just mustve missed something somehow…
and, of course…are bobby and pap on at 3 or at 5?
I guess Ill have ti start at 3 and go to 7 just in case…and then we’ll see how it shakes out….
does anyone have the clip from sammy on malloy last night?
oh…I see its up at the same place…does anyone know which hour sammy was in?
Sam was all of Hour 2.

The Maron interview looks to be still available in the upper left corner. No idea how long it will last. Hopefully someone can capture it.

A lot of Copper River sockeye seemed to make it down here last year. Not the same as the King but still pretty good. It does not look good for salmon from here to Alaska for a while if ever again.

And no more writing speeches! Except for the big one I have to give at graduation June 6. But I’m trying not to concern myself too much with that one just yet.
What graduation Kev? Are you going to school and not telling us?

hey all:
slept in late — halfway thru the maronathon 😥 .
very sad about mishna. missed her stand-up and marc’s kind of freaked out about it obviously but doing okay. the gaggle thing on hbo is probably a non-starter but he’s working with them on a possible different series.
keep your fingers crossed.
several hugs delivered btw.
tonight the portland seditionists arrive. :yippee:
But I still like Street Sense, and the jokey is charming…..I remember when he won…awww
So Roxie, a man said he couldn’t ask about the hugs … but I WILL ❗ How was Marc’s hug since he was showing a bit of tension, but he is hopefully better. Did you hear his interview?

Do racing horses make good pets ??.. I know Grayhounds do. NBC is giving this race more coverage than her dictator dorp. . :reaper: :reaper: :yuck: :fustrate: :fustrate: :paranoid:
Dunno fred. No pets, no NBC for me but I’d bet someone around here has a racing horse for a pet. Nay, perhaps not. I have to plead temporary ignorance or insanity on ‘her dictator dorp’.
Are all racing horses males ??.. Most of the time you hear about them after the fact as studs… Do the breeders put them away after their prime or what ?? :reaper: :reaper:
I’ve arrived late, are Marc and Mishna have problems?
:slap: sabres lost…… now im depressed……
Not all of them, fred. I think the breeders just :jerk: and the prize horses live pastoral lives until they pass. I am sure I will be corrected if untrue.
andy, listen to the link at #39. I don’t think this needs to be a gossip venue.
🙁 thats how i am taking the interview……
Poisoned Toothpaste in Panama Is Believed to Be From China
Diethylene glycol, a poisonous ingredient in some antifreeze, has been found in 6,000 tubes of toothpaste in Panama, and customs officials there said yesterday that the product appeared to have originated in China.
“Our preliminary information is that it came from China, but we don’t know that with certainty yet,†said Daniel Delgado Diamante, Panama’s director of customs. “We are still checking all the possible imports to see if there could be other shipments.â€
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/05/19/world/americas/19panama.html?_r=1&oref=slogin
Why haven’t we heard that there will be stringent inspection of food from China? If Hugo Chevez sent us poisoned toothpaste and wheat gluten Bush would be calling for his head. Heck, he’d probably invaded by now. Could it :bee: that out debtor status with regard to China is keeping the Presnit mute?
China needs space to expand . I sort of thought they would just repossess us and herd all the natives into concentration camps ..err …reservations.. Maybe they think they can avoid all the problems associate with that approach by killing us all off first . :reaper: :reaper:
Rethugs will sell anything if the price is right. :yuck: :fustrate: :paranoid:
Ahh! Just lounging in the pool waiting for my dividend check. Nothing yet though! :smack:
Grrr having trouble getting the dang PC to share my network connection..
Apparently, Dr. Laura Schlessinger, broadcaster on the Family Values Channel, has a son in the military who maintains a sicko website. Dr. Laura says she raised her son to be a warrior. :barf:

Well, we got *A* network to work. Dunno if it’s the right one.
I’m in Seattle watching SBlue try to decide where to go eat, watching Ol’ Zeb play with the cat, watching Travis knit a sock better than I ever could dream of, and watching my own computer. It’s kinda exciting. Cookies are ready for Marc. Bring On The Funny!
eya Gypsy!
hugs to the gang!
wish you all had the time
to come to abbotsford to visit!
Blue, your router should be sharing the network not the PC.
Give him hugs from us guys! :pup:
Some random observations and repsonses:
1) I’m not graduating from school. My bad, I should have been more specific. It’s a Speechcraft course at work, in conjunction with Toastmasters. I’ve been speechifying for the last seven weeks, and I get to do it again on June 6 when we graduate. It’s been interesting and kinda fun, but doing a speech every week, in addition to working full-time, has been a grind. I had no idea that punditry was so difficult.
I haven’t been doing any political stuff because they discourage that, although I have mentioned going to protest rallies, which for some reason seemed to surprise the rest of the group. As some of you may have guessed, I also have my eye on the only single woman in the group, although that has been an ongoing thing and did not start with Speechcraft. Just a happy accident and an opportunity. :hubba:
2) Katrina vanden Heuvel, editor of The Nation, will be joining the roundtable on Snuffelupagus tomorrow morning. I’ll be tuning in to watch the progressive sexpot poke a few holes in the gasbag that is George :jerk: Will.
3) Congressman Tim Ryan of Ohio is participating in a social experiment to see what it’s like to live on food-stamp money for a week. Sadly, he is one of only four House members who have agreed to do this. Happily, if I still lived in Ohio, I would be in his district. 😀
Each participant bought $21 worth of food, and is expected to live on it for an entire week. Ryan is blogging about it on his website, and the conversation is pretty interesting. A lot of people are on him for his lack of grocery-shopping skills, and as a person who has spent time between jobs, I must concur. No Ramen?
His website is
timryan.house.gov
I don’t think the crappy server in our business center will let me post a link, but you guys can find it easily enough.
