And so another week drags to a close. It’s actually been a pretty quick week. Two weeks, even, since it’s payday once again. So, let’s get this party started, so we can get it over with. One week to Sicko (unless you’re lucky enough to live where it opens this week, that is).
FRIST? Wow. :yippee:
Can’t wait for Sicko next weekend. I don’t think they’re sneaking it here. Mikey came out in favor of Kucinich’s health-care plan this week, for what it’s worth. Might attract a little more attention to the campaign. Or not.
I was right. The closest sneak is in Sarasota, which is WAAAAAAYY too far for me to walk home on a Saturday night. Especially across the bridge. But I can wait until next weekend.
So does that make me Delta ? I am the “Big D” :pirate: :yippee:

‘Sicko’ leaves top Democrats ill at ease
WASHINGTON รขโฌโ With the release of Michael Moore’s “Sicko,” a movie once again is adding sizzle to an issue that’s a high priority for liberal politicians รขโฌโ this time comprehensive health insurance for all. But unlike Al Gore’s film on global warming, which helped rally support on an equally controversial problem, “Sicko” is creating an awkward situation for the leading Democratic presidential candidates.

For anybody who still cares about the train wreck that is air america radio, this is from today’s altercation [Eric Alterman’s blog at media matters]:
“Name: M. George Stevenson
Hometown: Bronx, NY
Dear Doctor:
Does the Arbitron report offer any details of the “book” on Sam Seder before he was shunted off Air America’s weekday morning slot to a mid-afternoon Sunday (i.e., dead) time period? I am very curious to know if the Green Bros.’ substitution of a host who will invite William Donohue of the Catholic League for the always incisive Seder has really helped their bottom line at all.
My suspicion is that, apart from wedging Air America into a few of the unfunny, uni-monikered new host’s old markets, not much. I have certainly returned to the WNYC fold.
For all his other good works, Mark Green is, alas, someone whom Ed Koch was credibly able to call “obnoxious,” and I fear that his stewardship of Air America may turn out to be as successful as his mayoral campaign and for some of the same reasons.
Eric replies: As Mark was my co-author on The Book on Bush, I do not comment on Mark’s doings, one way or another. I will say that I was a big fan of Sam’s show and remain a big fan of Sam. I was distressed to hear of his being shuttled off to Sunday and I read from “Atrios” that “Lionel” is, well, no Sam Seder. I don’t know if the change has proven lucrative or not for Air America, but there it is.”
Did I misread this, or did Lionel really invite on William Donohue, the voice of the Torquemada/Mussolini branch of the Roman Catholic Church?
Holy Merde.
Is everybody else listening to sports shows and public radio like me? :sammy:
Thanks for the reminder, cresttwo. My favorite sports talk show is coming on right now.
I have been listening to public a lot, too. The only AAR I ever hear now is Seder on Sunday and an occasional little Hartmann  or some Rachel after the News Hour ends. I do check out some Stephanie if I have heard one of the Morning Edition broadcasts and some Malloy if near a radio doing nothing else. What I do mostly is watch my many unseen video tapes of Stewart, Colbert, and Olbermann and unheard Harry Shearer shows.
I guess I got spoiled by AAR 1.0 and being able to just leave the radio on one station all of the time. Sometimes I don’t remember to hit a show I like. Then again, I am not missing the hideous advertising and I don’t listen to Fat Headdie when he comes on now.
What I need to do now is figure out when Olbermann does his sports talk show with Dan Patrick.

US House bars funding for UN rights council
The US House of Representatives moved to prohibit US funding of the UN Human Rights Council, derided by one member as a “poisonous talk shop,” as part of a mammoth funding bill passed early Friday.
The United States has repeatedly expressed frustration with the council over its rules, targets for monitoring — including US ally Israel — and the way it conducts business.
The amendment, to a measure funding the State Department and US diplomacy, passed by unanimous voice vote, and prevents US funding for the overall United Nations budget from being used for the council’s 15 million dollar annual operations.
“We were right to refuse to dignify that poisonous talk-shop with our membership, and we must refuse to support it with our tax dollars,” said Representative Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the top Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
“By pulling its membership from the broader UN General Assembly without any membership criteria, the council has gone further than its predecessor in giving gross human rights violators the power to shape the international human rights agenda,” Ros-Lehtinen said.
The council, of which the United States is only an observer, was formed last year to replace the discredited UN Human Rights Commission

Sunshine Jim, I do feel very guilty I did not have the time to start a proper blog. Summer Solstice , as all sacred times, should have had at least a beginning. Next time I might have prepared different “thoughts” people could speak their feelings about and also, maybe, a free hour or two to just be up what is “hot”. Lughnasadh flame on and I hope to “git ‘er dun”. ๐ :pope: (he has an equilateral cross ) … (but i really do LOVE  “frankincense and myrrh” and use basically daily).

Hey Seditionists and faithful Maronistas, just surfing through to stir the pot. I’ve had a pretty good week of consistently hearing Hartmann on the stream; the old stream is gutted, and they’re using an mp3 format that plays in iTunes without the adcrap dancing baloney sucking your connection bandwidth. They’ve also dropped the horriddible nauseating piss they call music and are now playing ads through the run of the breaks, They also are playing their own spots, and this is what I’m here to share with you.
They’re using a tiny bit of the Morning Sedition theme music behind Air America spots, and the more I hear this, and the more I think abou this, the more rageously pissed I become. Between the really crap content and general amateurishness of The Turks, the utterly unacceptable reality of the L word, and the insertion of Crappy Eddie on XM 167, I’m only wedded to my XM for Dr. Maddow, and that’s pissing me off more than I can tell.
But that whisper of Sedition Radio is killing me, and you’re the only people I could think of to tell.
Awwwww Jeany, Tea Cheers …
Most have left Air America to listen to other stations or WORK :omg: what a concept LBH (LED BALLOON HUMOUR = doesn’t fly)
AAR Has been useing a bit of the bumper music of the ol’ MS Show ESPECIALLY since AAR 2.0 :barf: ( even at times on Rachel :omg: )
It just continues to make one more disloyal to the twits AAR (except I do like the acronym).

We got to North Platte, Nebraska this evenng. Tomorrow we’ll continue heading east. The land is as beautiful as ever. But, as we drive through these red states I still have not seen the usual pro-war, Rethug stickers and signs. This may be because the poor cows can’t read or write, it may be because the Rethugs can’t read ot write but It may be because the Rethugs are too ashamed to display their usual nonsense. I can hope.
There is also a surprising lack of birds in the sky. I hope it is not because Bush’s Clear Skies program has truly cleared the sky of birds.
