Damn, Wednesday already? Where do the days go? Looks like poor Saint McCain is having a bit of a problem with his campaign. Gee, too bad. And Joe Lieberman is up to his old tricks again (what were you people in CT thinking – Melina excepted, of course). I think Alberto (VO5) Gonzalez is just flaunting his untouchability now. He knows there’s no way Bush can cut him loose. He may be an incompetent idiot, but he knows where all the bodies are buried – all the way back to the Texas Governor’s mansion. It’s hump day. Go hump.
By the way, it’s my anniversary, so “Happy Anniversary,” honey.
I just was “Off To See the Izzard” (see last post of yesterdays cuz well look at tape ) :rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: ALPHA
:rofl2: :rofl2: :rofl2: sounds familiar :billcat: :rofl2: …A!I! :peace:

Good morning :joe:
Happy Aniversary, PJ and RG.
I saw Sicko, yesterday. Great film, terrible reality.
In a video being released today, New York City firefighters and their families criticize former mayor Rudy Giuliani for his handling of the Sept. 11 , 2001, terrorist attacks.
snip.
They argue that Giuliani’s administration failed to provide adequate radios for first-responders at the World Trade Center. And they remain angry at his decision to speed the removal of the enormous pile of rubble at ground zero, cutting back the size of the group searching for remains.
“He’s not a leader. He is running on 9/11, and it’s all a fallacy,” says Jim Riches, the father of a Sept. 11 victim and a deputy New York fire chief, in the video.
The International Association of Fire Fighters produced the 13-minute video and is distributing it to its 280,000 members, to the media, and online.
Happy Anniversary PJ and RG! How many years?
New measurements reveal that Earth is smaller than was previously thought—though not by much.
If you’re a planning a trip around the world, you may be pleased to hear that you have about 0.1 inch (2.5 millimeters) fewer to travel.
Although the change is tiny, experts say it could have implications for predicting sea-level rise and the effects of global warming (get the facts on global warming).
Using a suite of sophisticated techniques, a team of international scientists has spent the last two years measuring nooks and crannies all over Earth, noting how they have changed and comparing the new measurements with those taken in 2002.
In addition to revealing Earth’s slightly slimmer silhouette, the results reveal that the Pacific seafloor is the most restless place on the planet, traveling to the northwest by around two inches (five centimeters) a year.
Meanwhile, much of Scandinavia and northern Canada are bobbing up in elevation some 0.2 to 0.3 inch (5 to 8 millimeters) a year, and North America is pulling apart from Europe at a rate of around 0.7 inch (18 millimeters) a year.
The changes do not indicate that Earth is shrinking but rather that previous estimates—measured from Earth’s core to its surface—were slightly off, the researchers explained.

PJ, have you and RG seen Sicko? I would sure like to know what RG thought about it.
We saw it twice. Before it came out, we watched it, and then when it was in the theatres, we went to see it opening weekend. It’s a great movie, very well done. RG has been talking about all of this stuff (and more) for years. When I hear people say that the problems with the system that Sicko highlights are “isolated,” it tells me that they know absolutely nothing about the healthcare system in this country, and just how horrible it’s become. I just hope that when people see it, they’ll realize how badly we’re getting screwed in this country. They point to problems in Canada or England, as if things were perfect here. Things are perfect here if you have a boatload of money, otherwise, not so much.
This is nine years, KP. And they said it would never last….

Another one bites the dust. Terry is a great guy and Music Millennium is a great store. Hopefully he can tough it out in his remaining locations.
After 30 years in the neighborhood, the decision has been made to close down the NW 23rd and Johnson Music Millennium store. Because of escalating rent and a year of negotiating for a new lease, Music Millennium was forced to look for a new location. After months of looking for a new location, owner, Terry Currier, has decided that with the state of the recorded music industry declining at such a rapid rate, he could not, with good conscience, sign a long-term lease. The store will shut down at the end of August.
The recorded music industry has been on a downward trend for about 7 years. This year alone the industry has experienced over a 25% decline. Music Millennium experienced increases in business for 17 straight years beginning in 1984, when Currier came to work for Don and Laureen MacLeod.
Surely, this can not apply to Seditionists? We keep our humor muscles
toned (although it’s harder without MS on the air.)

For many economists, questioning free-market orthodoxy is akin to expressing a belief in intelligent design at a Darwin convention: Those who doubt the naturally beneficial workings of the market are considered either deluded or crazy.
But in recent months, economists have engaged in an impassioned debate over the way their specialty is taught in universities around the country, and practiced in Washington, questioning the profession’s most cherished ideas about not interfering in the economy.
“There is much too much ideology,†said Alan S. Blinder, a professor at Princeton and a former vice chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Economics, he added, is “often a triumph of theory over fact.

The federal Fish and Wildlife Service took the first step yesterday toward declaring that the emperor penguin and nine other species of penguin need the protections of the Endangered Species Act. One of the factors to be examined in the birds’ decline will be the impact of climate change on their habitat. :penguin:

Chertoff says he has a feeling in his gut that we will be attacked by Al Qaeda this summer. I hope that feeling doesn’t come from seeing the plan on Dick Cheney’s desk. :omg:

So, Firefox is acting a little weird. When I start Firefox up it takes a long time for my home page to pop up and then also my bookmarks and tabs do not load. There’s also a space at the bottom of the page where there was a request for me to add a button to Firefox but I declined and that gap is still there empty. I think I remember that PJ had a similar problem but I’m not sure. I tried downloading Firefox again but that didn’t do anything.
It’s very hot here today.Too hot.
Reading a lot about Sicko here and there.
I am not sure how many picked up on this gem from Bush’s town hall meeting in Cleveland yesterday.
I’m a strong believer in medical liability reform. We’ve got a legal system which is driving up the costs of medicine, because docs are practicing defensive medicine and driving good doctors out of practice. And it makes no sense to have a legal system that punishes good medicine. And therefore, I strongly believe that the Congress ought to pass federal medical liability insurance for our doctors and our providers.
We can’t have national health insurance yet his solution to the health care crisis is federal medical liability insurance for the ‘good docs’ and providers?! :omg:
Thanks for the link Sue!!
