PJ, that link made my head explode. (We really need an emo for that image, you know…) In the “No one anticipated…” stakes, “No one anticipated that a president would just declare himself dictator and toss the Constitution away” wins hands down.
Thanks for the congrats, all…though I think my snark pissed off the person who posted the link at Eschaton (it wasn’t Atrios; he’d rather die than link to a sucky blog like mine. ๐

I just was on Bill’s show, and still shaking ,,, wow how in the hell could I be before MANY a folks and now STILL be shaking WTF :smack:
But I listened when I was my shakiest and still sounded somewhat cool, but I could hardly breathe :smack: and still, yes STILL, shaking. (I do not like saying that, but ๐ oh well, I wanted to say my fear, I guess.)
so what’d you talk about on air, dru?
It was one’s views about having children when older, and why I use to think as Bill does, (that having children during the Grandfather age is wrong) however this is the reason why I now have changed my view … however, I was nervous, and didn’t get to point #2 … ie … to combat the rethug strategy.
People die, of which I and many have endured, AT ALL AGES. I would rather have a great year (and now there is videos) than many years with a rethug.
D6er, maybe it was just the earthquake.

Eve Of Destruction
The Eastern world, it is explodin’,
Violence flarin’, bullets loadin’.
You’re old enough to kill, but not for votin’,
You don’t believe in war — but what’s that gun you’re totin’?
An’ even the Jordan river has bodies floatin’.
But you tell me, over and over and over again, my friend,
Ah, you don’t believe we’re on the eve of destruction.
Don’t you understand what I’m tryin’ to say,
An’ can’t you feel the fears I’m feelin’ today?
If the button is pushed, there’s no runnin’ away,
There’ll be no one to save, will the world in a grave.
Take a look around you, boy, it’s bound to scare you, boy.
An’ you tell me, over and over and over again, my friend,
Ah, you don’t believe we’re on the eve of destruction.
Yeah, my blood’s so mad feels like coagulatin’,
I’m sittin’ here just contemplatin’.
I can’t twist the truth, it knows no regulation,
Handful of senators don’t pass legislation,
An’ marches alone can’t bring integration
When human respect is disintegratin’,
This whole crazy world is just too frustratin’.
An’ you tell me, over and over and over again, my friend,
Ah, you don’t believe we’re on the eve of destruction.
Think of all the hate there is in Red China,
Then take a look around to Selma, Alabama.
Ah, you may leave here for four days in space,
But when you return it’s the same ol’ place,
The poundin’ of the drums, the pride an’ disgrace.
You can bury your dead, but don’t leave a trace.
Hate your next-door neighbor, but don’t forget to say grace,
An’ tell me, over and over and over again, my friend,
You don’t believe we’re on the eve of destruction,
No, no, you don’t believe we’re on the eve of destruction.

I work in a busy office and when a computer goes down
it causes quite an inconvenience.
Recently one of our computers not only crashed, it made a noise that sounded like a heart monitor.
“This computer has flat-lined,” a co-worker called out in mock horror.
Then another co-worker, on the other side of the
office, called out, “Does anyone here know how to do mouse-to-mouse?”
KO was great leading with the Special Comment (he did lead with that, didn’t he?).
I do not have access to the complete show so I have not been able to catch his latest rant on Bonds. He and a lot of other self-righteous sports folks are ragging Barry’s a** pretty hard and I guess that is their right. He has plenty of detractors out there who adopt the holier-than-thou attitude yet I suspect many of them just don’t like the dude and many are racist. It is doubtful it will ever be proved that he did anything wrong, just as we don’t know if Aaron ever used anything to help him during his career. Maybe we need a grand jury to figure that out.
Fact is he is a great ball player and hitter ending one of the greatest careers in the history of the game. It has been a pleasure to witness some of it.
As for the 4.2 at 4:42, I doubt if it was related to Barry but if you think that, perhaps the Vicks can be blamed for VaTech (or vice versa).
๐ฅ this goes well with 38……
Or real Barry.
Meanwhile the more things don’t change, the more they remain the same. It is amazing how protest songs still relate. Good thing, too, since there don’t seem to be that many new ones coming along.
KO is Cool 8) … 8) name :rofl2: KO :rofl2:
Now relax. Bonds was wrong to possibly play on anything, but many were just “natural” additives. (One usually is given more than 1 chance) BUT BONDS IS ***SQUEEKY CLEAN NOW *** and under intense scrutiny AND STILL HE HITS HOMERUNS ! :yippee:

From Giants fan Steve Hochman
And, unlike many other artists who began their careers with the advent of rock and roll, he managed to maintain his success into the late 1960s, scoring in 1967 with the folk song, “If I Were a Carpenter.” Darin also had political concerns at this time, and according to Steve Hochman in the Los Angeles Times, “worked on Robert Kennedy’s presidential campaign in 1968.” Hochman further noted that the singer was “devastated by Kennedy’s assassination” later that year, and after this event sold many of his possessions, moved to California, and recorded two albums of protest songs on his own label, Direction. Though Darin’s long-time manager Steve Blowner told Hochman: “I was stunned at how good he was, singing [folk songwriters Laura] Nyro and Tim Hardin and [Bob] Dylan,” Darin’s career began to languish somewhat. In the early 1970s, he recorded for the Motown label.
I have not seen the Darin movie. I do own a 45 of Tim Hardin doing “Simple Song of Freedom”.

Sorry about that, Sean. Warped hasn’t been on my radar much this year, but I knew it was in St Pete today and for some reason it never occurred to me that you would be working it.

I think I’ve still got a Tim Hardin album somewhere in my basement.
Speaking of LP’s- is there a decent turntable that will record to MP3’s? I’ve seen some for $400. Since I can’t even buy cassettes anymore and now it’s too late :fustrate: We’ve got hundreds of LP’s which I refuse to pay to buy again from Apple or the CD version :rant1:

There are several manufactures of stereo equipment that still make turntables that you plug into your preamp . You can record MP3’s with your computer by taking the preamp output into the line input on the computer .. You might check Good Will for a turntable . There are several free ware programs that will allow you to record the digitized audio to disk as *.wav files , and as *.mp3 files.
So, no need for a special turntable? I’ve still got a conventional turntable- haven’t used it in years.
thanks, fred- I’ll give it a try.
When the page refreshed I got this message-

I’m assuming that price is just through costco. I’ve still got a 1lb jar of garlic salt I bought @ costco five years ago :rofl2:
Someone just forwarded me this- Denver is on alert for a critical ozone alert- it registered 90 @ Rocky Flats.
