Hard to believe this is the last day of July already. Unfortunately, unlike the Iraqi Parliament, I don’t get to take the month of August off. Shouldn’t dubya be getting ready for his summer recess, too? I mean, all this decidin’ and commander in chieferin’ is pretty hard work. Oh well, better get ready to head off to the salt mines. Enjoy.

I think Chimpy starts his vacation the week after next. This conveniently gives him a week after Congress adjourns to take care of recess appointments.
TIme to gird up for a grueling day at work. It’s supposed to monsoon all day, which puts everyone in a foul mood, plus I will probably be fighting with my boss, which is never fun because she doesn’t know how to fight properly yet.

Vigilance committee
This article describes organizations formed for the purposes of law enforcement. For rank-and-file committees within trade unions, see Vigilance committee (trade union)
A vigilance committee, in the 19th century United States, was a group of private citizens who organized themselves for self-protection. The committees were established in areas where there was no local law enforcement, or where the local government was ineffectual, corrupt, or unpopular. The groups, despite generally held opinions, were not mobs of unorganized individuals bent on revenge of the moment, but usually well-organized, with charters defining their purposes and official membership lists. Some were public, but many were secret. Secrecy prevented retaliation by lawless or corrupt organizations and also made it difficult for government officials to pursue criminal charges in areas where the government held jurisdiction. Vigilance committees are not unique to the United States and existed into the 20th century

You see the SBR military is trying to get rid of all the Iraqis so that the oil they live on top of will be all ours .. ours .. ours.. just like in NOLA all that prime land will be theirs… theirs… theirs .. hence the need for Vigilance committees. :gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist:

NOLa is bad but not that bad and as long as people stay constructively engaged (vigilant) and don’t forget, what you project does not entirely have to happen.

A reminder to all (w/ cable) that the man who has transformed a “warm bucket of spit” into the 4th branch of gubment will be Larry King’s guest tonight.
He is on a regular media blitz until the new Energizers wear down a little.
Ah Memories, I was on Larry King once talking about the tax-exempt status of Alternative Religions, with a Christian bloke, I believe Roy Masters… But that was in the ’80’s before I became a misanthrope, and now again … “To :bee: in town, again, with a snapping “Z”. 🙄

Now … Italian visionary Antonioni dies at 94
Michelangelo Antonioni, one of the most innovative and distinctive film-makers of the 20th century, has died at the age of 94. The Italian director died at his home in Rome on Monday evening, less than 24 hours after the death of Ingmar Bergman – that other great giant of European art-house cinema. wow  🙁 :priest:

Home Depot seems to have had a change of heart. They’re now unequivocally telling their customers that they will not advertise on Bill O’Reilly’s show. Oddly, however, they’re now also claiming that they never advertised on O’Reilly’s show.

In 56 of Ohio’s 88 counties, ballots and election records from 2004 have been “accidentally” destroyed, despite a federal order to preserve them — it was crucial evidence which would have revealed whether the election was stolen.
Ohio’s Secretary of State and Attorney General are engaged in settlement talks in the neighborhood association suit, suggesting the voter suppression claims have merit. In contrast, the case for Republican vote count fraud in the rural areas has been much harder to prove, even as the certified vote count is problematic in some counties.
Compared to Ohio’s Democratic urban core, turnout in the Republican districts was higher than the 2000 election. Moreover, in a handful of counties there were vote count anomalies that made post-election observers question whether Bush’s vote was padded. The most notable example is more than 10,000 voters from several Bible belt counties who voted for Bush and voted in favor of gay marriage, if the results are true. In a dozen rural counties, virtually unknown Democrats at the bottom of the ballot received more votes that Kerry, an oddity in a presidential year.
Reporters associated with FreePress.org and Arnebeck’s legal team hoped the court order preserving the 2004 ballots would enable them to investigate how these results occurred.

After O’Reilly provided an “accountability moment” to the JetBlue CEO at his home, I decided to provide O’Reilly with his own accountability moment at his home.
I’ve just returned to home base.
I’ve got video of O’Reilly in his sleepwear (red shorts and a white t-shirt). I delivered the Andrea Mackris Court filings to all of his neighors – every home in his development got a copy. And I put a bunch of signs up along his street – “Bill O’Reilly: Andrea Mackris has your cash” directly across from his house; “Bill O’Reilly: PERVERT” in front of his home; “Bill O’Reilly: CHEATER” on the road he must take to exit his development and “Bill O’Reilly: Can’t be trusted with your daughters” at the landmark boulder marking the entrance to his development.
We had an interesting conversation – not too explosive, but I think a lot of people will be entertained.
Video soon (I’d like to debut it a YearlyKos

From Think Progress:
Today on CNN, in a preview of his interview with the Vice President tonight, Larry King said he asked Cheney about the allegation. “I asked the Vice President about that and the story that he was the one that asked him to go,” said King.

A MAJORITY is a terrible thing to waste. That’s not stopping congressional Democrats.
When not trying to force a pullout from Iraq, their main effort has been chasing Bush-administration scandals that loom large only in their fevered imaginations. Democrats consider this “change,” but it is really a toxic repeat of the Republican investigative onslaught against Bill Clinton in the 1990s and of the Democratic one against Ronald Reagan in the 1980s – in other words, business as usual when Congress confronts a hated presidential adversary.

This is getting to be quite a comedy. The rethugs are shameless.
I have a question for PJ if you’re so inclined. My new hard drives showed up today (Seagate ST3320), I had to install a second sata comtroller because my MB only has two and they are occupied with a RAID 0. When I plug in the new controller without any drives attached I get an OS not found error. Unplug it and everything’s back to normal. Both the onboard and plug-in controller are SiL3512’s. Unless the computer is trying to boot from the empty controller?
Is there a place in your BIOS to select the primary controller?
Yup, it’s set to the onboard 3512 and set as RAID.
Hmm. I don’t suppose you could try disabling the onboard, and hooking up a drive with an OS on it to the plugin controller? Just to make sure that there isn’t something funky with the new controller. It’s not something weird like they’re both trying to use the same IRQ or something, is it? If you go into BIOS, does it detect the drives hooked up to the onboard controller?
The MB BIOS doesn’t show any drives attached to 3512. It has it’s own BIOS which shows a striped array for the onboard and nada for the new one. IRQ was a problem, I had to try three different PCI slots before it would even boot with the new card.
I think I’ll try booting with the disk image CD and see if I can put an image of the RAID onto one of the new disks. Now I just have to find that darn RAID driver.
Oh, well. If it was easy, then it wouldn’t be any fun, would it?
Yeah, silly me I thought this would be really quick.
Rummy’s gonna testify tomorrow about Tillman.
I wonder what questions he’ll have for he’ll have for himself .
Fred should be listening to Jeff Farias right now. He’s talking about a book called Total Resistance by a Swiss military guy 45 years ago. It’s about how to resist an occupation and/or martial law. Very interesting. I hope Jeff doesn’t disappear soon :tinfoil:

Hah!! Got it. I didn’t delve deeply enough into the BIOS sub-menus, changed the order of the cards and once again have joy.

I have been listening to Buffalo Springfield ….
Is the Album called “For What Its Worth”?
Ah a girl of 13. The song which “awoke” her.
I could not get it nor parents allow it, yet the DJs played on the radio, on a loop, quite often. I have the “awakening” moment and where I was. I was never “sure” of the ending when I got older but close (giggle), I just waited to be corrected by one who knew, yet no one did until now, since I did not sing those type of songs–if singing at all.

C&L’s Late Nite Music Club with Timbaland
(Guest blogged by Howie Klein)
My old friend Danny is in L.A. for the summer and I went to visit him a couple days ago. He manages bands and he was brimming over with enthusiasm for one of his clients, Sweden’s hottest young band, The Hives. They’re mixing their new album now– due out in October– and I was fascinated by all the stuff he told me about the set-up, which included working with Timbaland as well as a special Hives Nike running shoe with an embedded iPod chip. Can’t wait. Here’s some Timbaland with The Hives backing him up:
Anyone care to guess who Howie’s friend “Danny” is? :fu: :barf:
