It’s Friday. And tonight is the big clambake for my department, which should be OK, I guess. Ordinarily, I’d get hammered, but I reckon that wouldn’t be a great career move. Plus, I have to drive, so that wouldn’t work out at all. I also don’t much care for crappy beer in plastic cups. I’ve gotten rather snobbish these days. If it’s not my own beer, I much prefer Middle Ages Brewery’s Impaled Ale. And I only drink beer from a frozen mug.
Turns out, I love beer. No, not that I really like to drink it (though I do), but that I feel real affection for the stuff. Especially since I started brewing it myself. It’s a living, breathing entity, and I feel true affection for it. I understand why Ben Franklin said “beer is proof that God loves us, and wants us to be happy.” Hey, give me a break. It’s pretty much all I’ve got these days.
WAKE UP SHEEPLE!
The bus was late AGAIN today, and I’m still first. Where is everybody?
Too bad, so sad to hear that Lionel’s show isn’t doing well. I’m certainly doing my part by not listening.
So what does AAR have planned for Riley? Because I know this comedian who used to do a radio show in the morning, maybe we could hook them up. 😀
:yippee: must give drobnys money………
I love how AAR sends me an e-mail touting Sam at Yearly Kos, as if it was their idea. He’s probably paying for it out of his own pocket.
:crap: :crap: :crap: :fustrate: :fustrate: :paranoid: :paranoid:
❓ ❓ ❓ Whatever :sheep: le
Be careful; with the beer it tends to cause a stability problem to occur around the waist in which you tend to fall on your face when you bend over and then find you can’t stand up. One begins to look like someone seen shopping at WalMart, however, you will need to buy a pair of overalls to fit into the WalMart croud
OOPS
You also need a toothpick to put in your mouth
Thats a great idea make all bridges over a hundred feet in length a toll bridge .. Then you can head out for work two hours earlier each day and burn just that more gas sitting in line.
Sounds like a retugs ides .. wait .. wait.. :yuck: :barf: :fustrate: :fustrate: :paranoid: :crap: :jason: :jason: it was a rethug idea ..
Why just pin the infrastructure problem on Bush . :yuck: :barf: . No governor who wants a next term would ever suggest raising taxes to pay for anything.. :jerk:
In most states the gasoline taxes you pay are just like the social security taxes you pay it all goes into the same pot to pay for luring companies that only stay around five years and building sports stadiums. :tommygun: :tommygun:
It has a lot to do with the electorate being a bunch of IDIOT MORONS
Ewwww ,, Speaking of IDIOT MORONS it must be after 6am I hear Jay Marvins voice :yuck: :crap: :fustrate: :paranoid:
Good morning. :joe: :joe:
Here’s some video of the Dodd?O’Reilly “discussion” of Dailykos.

:slap:
Good Morning :joe:
Goyette is going to have a real live CIA assasin on his show. 😯
Re #5 — Hey Fred — PJ’s doing a great job keeping beer gut under control with riding his bike 1/2 hour in A.M. & 1/2 in P.M. along with lo-cal diet & he looks pretty darn good :hubba:
He doesn’t want to fit in @ WalMart ( :fu: ) and is not likely to need the overalls or the toothpick.
His beer making ritual has a sacred energy to it & I think his brews have no fat making calories in them :40: (well, we can fantasize the calories out anyway).
I’m not a beer drinker, so I don’t “get” any of this stuff :billcat:
So, LaLa Bush goes to Minneapolis today to cheer people up :barf: :yuck:
Over & out. Time to get to work.
:jesus:
:fist: A!I!V! :fist:
:fire: :fire: :fire:
Goyette is now talking to someone about privatizing space travel. The story based on the movie Astronaut Farmer. On initial thought, I don’t have any problem with that. It seems like privatizing industries that aren’t responsible for peoples lives or health would work just fine. Although, I’m sure repugs would find a way to corrupt it. :fustrate:
The only thing I hate about listening to Goyette is the Dr. Laura commercials. 😡
Kevin, So what does AAR have planned for Riley? Because I know this comedian who used to do a radio show in the morning, maybe we could hook them up. 😀
Comment by Kevin M … :yippee: 😉
Morning all. :joe:
A Brief History of Beer
Ooohh!
Dodd obliterates O’Reilly; O’Reilly denies he welcomed al Qaeda attack on San Francisco
According to John @ Americablog: You really have to watch this video. It’s wonderful. Senator Dodd (D-CT), who is running for president, goes on O’Reilly to talk about DailyKos and O’Reilly’s own hate speech. Dodd was simply amazing. I really like the guy. Always have. Like him even more now.
Dodd just moved up a couple of notches for me. I’m going to have to look into his voting record.
:dancers: RAGING Granny Alert, :pirate: :yippee: and PJ, Kristapea, SeanMS, Sue P, Fred, and :yippee: :pirate:
And The Rest … :dancers: of :reaper: A!I!V! :fist: HiiiYaaa :dancers:
And on the heels of that…
Goood morning from the Kos where I am TIRED…Jill and I stayed up late gabbing and I got little done except to upload my pics while trying to watch big brother rerun on the net….I still have to see half of it so, dont tellme who got voted out…
Anywho…I am on the go…really, really FUN here if you find the right people…
I just wanted to mention that Sammy is gonna try out some live video streaming thing that is cutting edge and might enable him to do more interesting sammy cam stuff….so much fun to talk a bit of tech with him, because he is a film person at heart so, youknow, that even if its not the hugest part of the deal, he likes the possibilities of the cam.
Ill try to get a real post up, but sammy said to be checking his site for a link around 11AM…Im assuming that its Our time in Chicagoland
Met Lauren, shook Howard Dean’s hand twice…Chenk is everywhere but strangely is not the official embed…and finally last night he had changed into his Young Turks shirt…as if we didnt know who he was…well, Im actually surprised at how many people are not huge Air Americans….
Jill and I are scoping out the fun kids…girls just want to have fun, y’know! And Im just all full of overtired energy….way too chatty…oh well. I dont think Ive offended anyone …yet!
Right now Wesley Clark is seeing who is tough enough for his early as hell morning keynote….yeah.
need coffee
Watch sammy’s site if you can….he is taping interviews and trying to do some live stuff.
The fact that Green sent his blogger, Lauren, and Sam is…um…just sad…and actually, Im figuring that Sam sent himself.
Its nice to be around so many, many like minded people who are all so different and from so many places.
Glad you’re having fun Melina, are Will and Ben with you? I’ve been off the net for a few days with “upgrade” issues so I’m way behind on what’s going on and my inbox is a mess.
Say Hi to everyone from us!!
Yay! The Morning Seditionists are represented. Thanks Melina, for the dispatch. I wish I could have gone but my friend in Chicago is now my friend in Milwaukee and I’m still at the income level where, if I can even afford to travel, it has to be a place where I can flop on someones couch. Maybe next year.
The only thing I really give a shit about on AAR is Rachel. She was ON FIRE last night about bridges, infrastructure and rethugs making “NO NEW TAX” pledges like the syncophynts that they are. She just had a guy on to talk about infrastructure last week. ❗
She was asking the only relevant questions about the complete lack of political will of both parties to talk about taxes and kept playing Raygun saying “The real problem is government”.
She pointed out that the rethug guv of Minnesota vetoed a 4B bill that was to tackle this exact problem and then vetoed a 2B bill for the same thing. :fu: :fu: rethugs ❗
Meanwhile, here in the Mile-High city, the major crosstown elevated portion of I-70 is rated a 40, 10 points less than the Minn bridge. And last night on your local Clear Channel, one of the multiple local blabber Nazis had Coultergeist on to say the answer to all our problems is (say it with me now)
“PRIVATIZATION”
:tommygun: :tommygun: RETHUGS :jason: :jason:
Speaking of which:
MSNBC: Wall-Mart Hiring Youth, Not Paying Them
Marine convicted of murdering Iraqi man
Lawyers for Hutchins argued that he participated in the plot because his own officers had set a poor leadership example and given approval for Marines to use violence in capturing and interrogating suspected insurgents.
According to the BBC this morning his lawyers claim that there is evidence to prove he acted under orders but the evidence has been classified.
Sounds like Wes Clark’s speech would’ve been worth hearing.
“beer is proof that God loves us, and wants us to be happy.â€
i find that an hour meditating on the yeast cell can be especially illuminating occasionally.
What’s cool is activating the yeast pack, and then listening to it fizz away before you open it up. Well, if you lead the rather mundane life that I lead, that is.
Hey, Melina, tell Sam we say hello, and miss listening to him every day. You and Jill try and stay out of trouble. Or, try not to get caught, anyway.
Oh! And Melina, try to find out if Sam is going to be on NovaM some day. I think he’s more tight lipped than Marc though. You may have to get him drunk or use your feminine charm.
Does anyone know if there is any Nova M or Jones Radio representation at YKos?
I’d go for the feminine charm M, you’ve got that in spades. :hubba:
I have not heard any promos on NovaM about them being at DailyKos. Jeff hasn’t mentioned anything either, I don’t think.
I dont think that Nova or Jones is here, but Sat is the big day…so if one was sending representation they would do it tomorrow…
Jill is at a very fun group now…and she actually got up for the wesley clark sppech. She said it was great. look for it on the web soon…these geeks have got it all wired.
We’ve got some good stuff later on too.
Anyone got Rachel from last nite? I have it at home on replay but I wold hate ot have to try to tell Will, Ben, or Mom how to send it to me…
I suucumbed to room service starbucks coffee and oatmeal brulee, which I LOVE!!…box lunch today if we should so care to attend…
great food at the keynote last night… steamed pork buns, little lamb chops, little red potatos with sourcream and caviar, veggies and dips…smoked salmon…and sticks o’ meat
Then there was a dessert/coffee for writers with alot of chocolate.
not great and I only went through half a tiny moussse…
there was another little party by NARAL set up with a wine bar and foods…got a cute condom in a matchbook.
Sam is talking to Nova just like everyone is…he is in flux and has to figure out which way his career is gonna go…radio is a full time job with some showbiz or writing on the side.
showbiz is really a full time job…so…
I hope he does radio. It just seems like AAR is over…how long before Rachel is given a show on MSNBC or something. I cant imagine her wanting to stay there. She is too good…but, maybe it can allow her to do other things…whoknows?
There is a question that was never cleared up for me about Seder and an AAR night show. I got the impression that Sam did not want to go back to nights at AAR and that was why he never got the night slot. Anyone remember if that was so?
Rachel mentioned the other night that if she wasn’t a manly looking gay woman that she would have her own show. Although with her brain plus what I consider being pretty attractive to a straight man, I’d think there’s quite a large audience for that look with that brain. :hubba:
eya Vernon!

infrastructure privatization:
caught a couple minutes of fucker carlson yesterday and he was whipping this latest talking point, saying that people would have an easier time assessing resposibility and getting compensation from failures of infrastructure from a private company than from the state/local/federal government!!!!
WTF? can you spell bankrupt? hard for a government entity, easy for a corporation…
this bullshit must stop soon before they kill us all.
re riley’s show:
mike has the timeslot pretty much sewed up anyway, so green will have about as much luck as lionel.
Vigilance committees :sheep: le Vigilance committees :gate: :omg: :jason: :jason: :fist:
Lionel. That was the guy that all the radio “experts” thought was such as great coup for AAR. Good thing they stuck Sam on Sundays. I bet they were paying Sam a lot less, too.
Roxie-re:
“this bullshit must stop soon before they kill us all”
Can you give me any reason to think that they’re not going to?
Chaos, fear and fascism is working very very well for them.
barbara bush uberalles.
Tit for tat might work equally well.. at least the Chaos and fear part … one of the things sociopaths do react to is the reality of being peace wise continuous.. :reaper: :reaper:
Malloy only has 13 terrestrial stations at best as far as I can see and 3 are on tape delay. I don’t think he has it wrapped but Air Americans probably was not the best challenge, esp. since AAR has frosted its affiliates almost as much as us. A good show could get some carriage.
A federal intelligence court judge earlier this year secretly declared a key element of the Bush administration’s wiretapping efforts illegal, according to a lawmaker and government sources, providing a previously unstated rationale for fevered efforts by congressional lawmakers this week to expand the president’s spying powers.

Life in Red Hook is exciting:
Authorities are questioning three men after pulling them from a submersible vessel in the East River in Brooklyn, N.Y., according to reports from ABC affiliate WABC.
The men were captured near the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal in downtown Brooklyn, near the massive cruise ship the Queen Mary 2, just after 11 a.m.
http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=3444500
I’d love to see (or, perhaps, hear) a good progressive radio show at any timeslot. Especially since I just podcast Malloy and Farias anyway. Time doesn’t much matter to me. Best of luck to AAR with their latest attempts to kill themselves. I don’t know much about the new hosts, but I doubt I’ll be investing much time and effort to listen to their shows.
“being peace wise continuous” hhuuhh?? :paranoid:
“submersible near the Queen Mary”
Whether this is for real or not (who the f@*k knows?) what a PERFECT TIME for a renewed terror alert to cover up whatever godonlyknows friday news dump. Actually this whole week has been a news dump while we’re watching bodies being pulled out of the water of utter disregard and cynicism that covers this nation :jason: :reaper:
Hah! Two guys in a rowboat were towing a replica of the Turtle, a 1775 “submarine.” Ooh. Vewy, vewy, scawy.
seriously?
Yep, seriously. The ABC story has been updated.
Better watch out for those spray paint cans.
Ouch.
Wait, don’t tell me- the paint can was made in China :slap:
Between the end of Handjob and 6 pm or so most of the stations in Denver have their own evening drive time programming. on .. After drive time it is Reich :barf: Reich :barf: :barf: Reich :barf: :barf: :barf: all the time every where until Coast to Coast Am comes on. KOA has their own late night talk format which is not as Reich as the rest of the day . KKZN has Maddow and Colmes on but they go to low night time power so you can hardly hear them even 40 miles from denver.

See, this is why Bush is making Congress stay in session until they bend over and give him the wiretap bill he wants. We have to make the terrorists tow two-hundred-year-old subs over there so that they won’t tow them here.
:fu:

has anybody seen the lil bush episode where cheney takes over hell?
Peace wise continuance is a mathematical term which says that part or parts of a set are not necessarily described by the same mathematical model. When describing a biological system it generally implies that the system was exposed to a high release of energy or an extreme pressure wave .ie was splattered by some external influence .. :reaper: :reaper: .
Geez. Sometimes it’s good to know when to quit.
No governor who wants a next term would ever suggest raising taxes to pay for anything..
Kicker is, we did just pass a transportation bill out here (Minneapolis) that was supposed to go to road maintenence, etcetcetc. Problem with Pawlenty and the goons in office is that they’re far more interested in throwing money out on a Twins stadium instead of watching after the people who live here. :fustrate: WHAM :fustrate: WHAM :fustrate: WHAM :fustrate:
That bridge should not have gone down. If they would have done more than just the pansy little patches on the surface concrete and these so-called inspections when it was first rated as failing, it wouldn’t have happened. And concidering that section is the main thoroughfare from northern Minnesota into Minneapolis…that’s very telling of the kinds of people in charge here. :reaper:
Re: 62 Cripes :yuck:
and now I hear Pawlenty may be backing down from his gas tax veto and opposition. It’s gonna take a lot more nickels now.
I think someone has to start to set the frame that this tax cut at any cost and privatization jag the repuglies are hellbent on is the true act of terrorism against most of the American peopleand will do far more damage than al qaeda ever could.
al qaeda can also claim victory by simply pointing out how much of a diversion of our wealth has been diverted from our true needs toward this misguided ‘war on turruh’.
moronqueen:
i’ve been hearing about some meeting where government engineers were debating shutting the bridge down but were overruled — don’t know if the governor had anything to do with it.
any local info on that?
Heh…great, looks like it’s strictly busrides for me for the foreseeable future. :rant1: Really, they don’t need to keep tacking on more and more taxes (and thusly increasing the foreclosure rates more and more and more); they need to start spending the money they already have coming in more efficiently.
But hey…you all know that, I know that, and they know that, but those padded pockets are just a little too comfortable to give up.
Yes…there are deffinately times the government is our own worst enemy. Ah well, hopefully people will start learning from all these tragedies…
A vast chunk of Earth sliding under Mexico has surprisingly reversed direction, puzzling geologists and leaving them wondering whether the ground might be poised to pummel Mexico City with a devastating earthquake.
The offshore tectonic plate had been sliding toward Mexico City at a rate of 1 inch per year, as recorded by Global Positioning System measuring stations near Acapulco and Guerrero, which is about 175 miles southwest of Mexico City.
That movement was normal, as predicted by theories of how Earth’s crustal plates should move. At subduction zones, like this one, an oceanic plate typically slides beneath a continental plate, and now and then major temblors occur.
Suddenly, in the latter half of 2006, the plate began moving the other way and quadrupled its speed, scientists announced today
http://www.livescience.com/environment/070802_fault_backward.html
i’ve been hearing about some meeting where government engineers were debating shutting the bridge down but were overruled — don’t know if the governor had anything to do with it.
From what I’ve heard from a couple of different sources, back in 2005, that bridge was rated at 50%, and the government was given two options…replace the bridge, or do some hefty repairs on it. I’m not entirely sure if it was Pawlenty himself or one of the other big wigs, but it was decided to forego both options in favor of inspections every two years. That got upped to yearly inspections…but still no major repair money was given. The bridge itself was slated to be replaced in something like 8 years from now?
A huge section of 35W was shut down earlier this year (like…last month? The month before?), but it was south of Minneapolis, hence, south of the bridge. They were doing work on resurfacing the bridge when it went down…I have no idea if any of those construction workers are missing, but 20 were working on it when it happened. That’s probably a big reason of why it wasn’t worse…it’s usually an 8 lane highway, but was cut down to 4 due to said construction.
Well, enlighten me about Minnesota and Pawlenty and before him, Jesse. Have they been cutting taxes? If so, what kind?
Consider also that a lot of the spending cut backs at the federal level to try to ‘justify’ bush’s tax cuts end up falling upon the states who then need to fund programs out of their revenues. Perhaps your tax burden is just part of the re-distribution of the tax burden in this country in recent history. I am guessing you are not wealthy.
I wasn’t here when The Body was in office, so I don’t know much about him, but from my understanding, Pawlenty’s big thing was cutting property taxes, which really wasn’t much help to your run of the mill property owner. Of late, I haven’t seen any actual tax cuts, though. Personally speaking, our property tax went up another $100.
They have been cutting funding to the police force and schools. They completely abolished the gang taskforce (which was working), and up until a few months ago, had actually taken officers off the streets. Our violence rates have been raising, and there’s now a section of the Guardian Angels active in North Minneapolis.
Year before last, our local government shut down for about two weeks because the whole tax issue got so gridlocked – all over the Twins Stadium. At first, Pawlenty and the people in his corner wanted Minnesota citizens to pay for a good peice of it through taxes…now it’s just Hennepin county (that’s Minneapolis and some of the surrounding suburbs) sales tax paying for it…which is utterly rediculous, concidering they’re privately owned. Bloomington did the same thing with the Mall of America, and apparently the Metrodome (the current sports stadium) did something similar…we’re still paying that off, and they’re talking about demolishing or converting it into something else because it’s fallen into such ill repair. They’re also trying to talk about getting a new Vikings stadium somewhere, too. Those of us who aren’t sportsfans are Not Amused.
A huge part could be the whole redistribution deal, but there’s still a lot of waste on the local level that could deffinately be delt with.
mq, I just found this from City Pages in 2005. I am sure the departure of Kevin Garnett is going to reduce the tax base. (Sorry, sports reference)
btw, I miss my business trips to Minneapolis when I could eat breakfast at Hell’s Kitchen every morning. I like Minneapolis a lot but it sure gets cold.
The computer is back to workin’, I quit my job, and I hope to go on a short trip soon for the meteor showers. Can’t get much better. Well….
Thanks for the Birthday wishes, peeps.
our latest sports stadium was turned down by a vote of the :sheep: le.
the state legislature then decided that the citizenry should pay for it anyway!
not a sports fan either. but no bridges have failed recently here (though the viaduct is overdue) so i can’t really complain.
hey trav: happy stargazing (and unemployment?)
moronqueen: very interesting stuff from today’s disaster central. please keep me/us informed. i hope your commute to/from work doesn’t involve this route. sounds like your area is in for serious traffic hell for some time!
file this under: always a silver lining…
one fewer republican governors!
Vernon: Hah! I wouldn’t be suprised if that guy leaving would have some kind of influence. 😉 Thanks for the link, that’s a good one. I love the CityPages. Where else can you get info on how to be a GolfGoneWild girl? :boobs: (I’m not one, but it was too funny seeing it advertized in the job section) I agree this is a beautiful place…Arctic Blasts do get a little old in the winters though, I agree. :cold:
Roxie: *salutes* Will do…will keep you guys posted. And yes…I’m hoping he will be out of office. Ahh…wish Hatch woulda gotten in this last time. Oh well. Everything works out one way or another.
Also, nope…it won’t affect my commute, since I don’t work downtown. Unless I end up needing to transfer downtown for some reason…major bus lines used to go over that bridge, so I’m not sure how the detours’ll go.
